Just another government story [JP]

JP writes:

Not a really big story, but I went to get my 87-year old mother's RX filled today. She's had gout for at least 20 years.

She's been on the same medicine the entire time, a generic, and it cost her about $20.00 a month.

Today the prescription was $120.00. She can no longer afford to get it filled. It would seem that the generic has been ordered off the market by the FDA. It's the most common medication prescribed for gout, a very common condition that is, like most degenerative conditions, on the rise.

I'd like to help her out but I'm entering my second year of funemployment and my husband lost his job a month ago. Your depression photos featuring "The Golfer" resonate especially well with me.

Keep up the good work. Without people like you I would sink into complete despair.

God bless you and your family, JP.

We're thinking of you in these tough times. And let's all turn these Statists out in 2012, once and for all.

I want to donate $20 toward her medicine. Can I help?

My own hubby is out of work, but I believe in planting seeds, sowing in tears, reaping in joy. It would make me so happy to do this small thing. Maybe 5 others can join me?

Is there some way, Doug?

I'm curious why she isn't on Medicare, or Medicaid. I am and I pay a maximum $10 on all my prescriptions. Being a heart transplant recipient, I take a lot of drugs and the times that Medicare didn't cover the particular drug, I was able to get it directly from the manufacturer for free.

I agree that under Obama health care is going downhill. But to be fair, there are options available.

Doug,

I order ALL my medication from this place. I don't know how this price compares to JP's grandma's medication. It's about the best Canadian source I know of. Here is a pricing list.

http://www.northwestpharmacy.com/ProductSearch.aspx?s=colchicine

The instructions are easy to follow and it they have excellent service.

The only drawback is that you cannot wait until you are completely out of medication. It took about 2 weeks to arrive.

But the medication is exactly as I got in the US, and it cost me 75% less.

Hope this helps JP.

let me see if I can make a working link:

http://www.northwestpharmacy.com/ProductSearch.aspx?s=colchicine

If not just go to www.northwestpharmacy.com and type in the name of medication.

It took me less than 20 seconds to find it.

Good luck.

This is happening because of - believe it or not - Antisemitism (in addition to anti-capitalism and typical Obama extortion of the private sector). Teva, an Israeli company, produces most generics these days. The Obama admin. is persecuting them by pulling crap like this and suing them over a Hep C outbreak caused, not by anything Teva did, but because of dirty hospital equipment. Still, they were made to pay. This is more of the same.

For the record, I'm not some Pharma pimp. I hate Teva for ruining Adderall, of which there is also an engineered shortage.

Thank you all so much! You can't believe how much this meant to me.

And between the donations and suggestions, I've got my mother a partial prescription and placed an order through the website suggested where the medication is indeed much more affordable.

Again, thanks, you guys are the best. You've knocked me out of my doldrums and reminded me that Americans are the most compassionate and resourceful people on earth.

PEOPLE!
There is a bigger picture and that is the FDA mandate is out of control. The medical Company my wife works for was persecuted by the FDA with recalls untill they had no money and had to short sell to India. This was not a quality issue as their stats were the same or better than their competitors. One of the FDA missives to them was "we want to partner with you in the development of new products", LOL.
This Agency has placed greater restrictions on new products by requiring extensive 5 year testing before they can release. You know as well as I that equipment designed 5 years ago is out of date.
This is a deliberate and concentrated effort to destroy industry and peoples lives for a Marxist ideal. Folks, this is OBamaCare related (isn't it still tied up in the Courts?).
The wife is out of work in 2 months and the construction industry for me is down the tubes.
The Halfrican leader golfs and sends his 4 girls to Africa while Americans suffer the devices and hatred of women he has placed in positions of power, women who obey the will of a twisted, despotic Leader.
I say bring back the guillotine.

jeannebodine,

Sounds like you did it right, by using a local source as a bridge to a cheaper source. I'm glad you found it helpful. Their service is great, too.

It will be a comfort to the whole family to know there is a cheaper way to find medication.

Best wishes to all.
