Dude. This Robot Is Freaking Terrifying.

Is it just me, or does this thing remind you of a SkyNet robot from Terminator: Rise of the Machines?

A new video released by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency shows the robot, inspired by the anatomy of a cheetah, running as fast as 28.3 mph before it trips and falls on what would be its face, if it had one.

If it’s any consolation, the robo-cheetah is only a bit faster than the human speed record holder: Bolt set the mark at 27.78 mph in 2009, during a 100-meter sprint.

And robo-cheetah has a way to go before it can outrun a real, living, breathing cheetah. A cheetah at the Cincinnati Zoo was recently clocked at 61 mph...

In order to prepare for the inevitable robot and/or zombie apocalypse, I'm thinking about upgrading my Y2K bunker to a fifties-style bomb shelter.

  1. Light, fast and electronic with lots of delicate bits. I don't know the price, but it has at least 6 zeros in it. Especially if the gov't is buying.

Chinese knock-off shotgun of any Remington model (with a beefier extractor) and a box of 00... less than $300.

I don't think this will be a really big problem.
