MARK LEVIN: The Democrat Party's Groupthink Movement is Poisoning Our Society

By Mark R. Levin

Capitalism and federalism are two of the greatest models of human behavior you can imagine. Why?

Attorney, author, and radio host Mark R. Levin
Capitalism has created a magnificent lifestyle. We can’t exactly explain it, which means it’s open to demagoguery – the rich and the poor, the elite versus the common man. And you here it on the left and the pseudo-right. But that’s not what capitalism is about.

And federalism – mobility, different things for different people in different states, decentralization of decision-making, individuals deciding what they want to produce (if they want to produce anything), where they want to work, how they want to work, whether they want to create a small business, work for a company, or whatever.

Federalism – people deciding if they want to live in a state that has the death penalty, or, in the past, that has same-sex marriage or doesn’t have same-sex marriage, or has low taxes, has high taxes, whatever it is.

These two things alone are unique in human history. Free market capitalism, tried almost nowhere, creating the wealthiest society on the face of the earth, despite our diversity, despite our backgrounds, despite who we are.

People coming to these shores a few years ago becoming wealthy if they choose to. It’s not handed to anybody. Maybe you’ll fail twenty-five times before you’re successful. That’s fine, because the other twenty-five times, no one wanted what you were doing.

And federalism – mobility, the ability to move from one state to the other, with different laws in one state to the other.

These two things alone have created the most compassionate, tolerant, successful, vibrant nation on the face of the earth because they decentralize decision-making.

Uniformity and conformity of the human condition is inhumane. Groupthink, grouping us together based on where we live, based on our background, based on what we look like, based on our faith, based on whatever, is poisonous.

And yet this is all you hear in the Democrat convention and, unfortunately, more and more with the so-called nationalist-populist movement.

That’s not what we’re about as Americans. Yes, it’s seductive, because it’s black and white, it’s up and down, it’s very easy to understand. It takes the complicated and makes it stupid. Not simple, stupid. The fact that things are complicated is exactly why you decentralize. Exactly.

We don’t need lectures from politicians telling us how to live. We don’t need lectures from billionaires and millionaires telling us how to live.

We want our country back. We want our Constitution back. We want our economy back. And that doesn’t mean surrendering more power to politicians and bureaucrats, less power.”

Mr. Levin, what you and I want are apparently two different things. I know this because of the contempt you display toward your fellow party members who support Donald Trump.
When I used to listen to your program, I listened as you spoke glowingly about what was also my memory of Ronald Reagan, the leader of "Big Tent" conservatism. To me, Ronald Reagan made it clear the Republican Party was home to all people and conservatism was intended to help the people.
Conservatism has always had its home within the Republican Party, although we've always recognized conservatism a minority within the party, not the dominating influence. Ronald Reagan was able to lead the republican party with the "Big Tent" philosophy, bringing republican voters out to the polls.
Today, some conservatives like you have abandoned the "Big Tent" for rigid hierarchical dictate. You and your fellow #NeverTrumpers have abandoned your fellow republicans because they had the audacity to vote for Mr. Trump. You hold your fellow republicans in contempt. You mock and ridicule them.
Now, you preach to me about true conservative principles? Really?
What's your agenda? You don't care about me, my thoughts, or my beliefs. Whatever it is you believe, you want Hillary Clinton to win the election. If she does, it's on you. It will be on you and your fellow #NeverTrumpers. So don't come in after the fact and say you were right all along if your nefarious plan comes together.
You see Mr. Levin, you forgot something very important while getting on with your vitriol. Once your credibility is lost, it doesn't come back. Ever.
I have no more time to waste on you.
