AS TRUMP MOBILIZED AGAINST CORONAVIRUS: Democrats Focused on Impeachment

On January 15, House Democrats delivered two articles of impeachment to the United States Senate. Democrats knew the Republican-controlled Senate would not have enough votes to convict President Trump. But that didn’t deter House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) from wasting government time, resources, and attention for months in a doomed effort to remove Donald Trump from the White House.

Six days later, on January 21, the first known case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19, or the Wuhan virus) was reported in the United States.

While the Left and NeverTrump Right predictably gather steam to condemn Trump for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, congressional Democrats have escaped any accountability for ignoring the early stages of the outbreak. And, with no sense of irony, the very journalists and pundits who cheered impeachment are the same folks now blasting the president for “not doing enough” to stop the spread of COVID-19.

It appears that two attendees of the AIPAC (the American-Israel Political Action Committee) conference have tested positive for Covid-19. Accordingly, Rep. Omar -- one of the leading Democrat anti-semites in Congress -- is celebrating. The replies to her retweet are truly sickening.

DEMOCRATS HIT BOTTOM, BREAK OUT KOMATSU TUNNELING GEAR: Now Threatening the Lives of Supreme Court Justices

The active shredding of America’s established constitutional norms continues apace. The latest culprit is Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Standing on the steps of the Supreme Court, he issued a chilling, direct threat to two sitting justices, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. He deserves broad condemnation. He received it only from Republicans. Save for some prominent lawyers, Democrats remained silent.

Schumer told a cheering crowd, “I want to tell you Gorsuch. I want to tell you Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price!” The crowd was rallying for abortion rights as the Supreme Court heard a case on that issue. The minority leader was there to support them, a perfectly legitimate political act. What’s illegitimate is his call to arms, his over-the-top threats. Schumer concluded by saying the two justices “won’t know what hit them” if they decide the wrong way.

Could a US politician’s behavior get much worse? Actually, it could.

THE REAL QUESTION FOR DEMOCRATS TO CONSIDER: Who Will Be Controlling Joe Biden?

As of now, Joe Biden is the strong front-runner for the Democrat presidential nomination. Almost nobody saw that coming. I certainly didn’t, and I apologize for that. How’d we get it so wrong? Mostly because we don’t think like Democrats do.

The Republican Party is a coalition of business interests and conservative ideologues. At its core, it’s about ideas: the Constitution, the free market, and all of the basic principles of western civilization.

The Democrat Party isn’t like that at all. Democrats don’t fixate on ideas. Instead, their base is a constellation of aggrieved interest groups animated by their hostility to traditional Americans. They may not have much in common, but they’re united in their desire to take power and redistribute the spoils to themselves. To achieve that, Democrats know they must stick together, no matter what. Group cohesion is the root of their power.

But we didn’t see it that way. We looked at the Democratic primary field from the outside, and thought: “Is the party really going to nominate a guy with no program, no core beliefs and, by the way, who’s clearly losing it?”

The answer, we learned definitively last night, is... of course they are. Why wouldn’t they? It might work. But hold on.

The FISA Reform Scam

Representative Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) smiled in response to my question. He had just opened the Kansas town hall for questions. I detected an eye roll as he composed his answer. “I don’t think Speaker Pelosi would go along with that,” he replied. It was maddening to hear this member of Congress seem to be representing Washington, D.C. to Kansas instead of the reverse.

Marshall and his wife gushed about the bipartisan parties in D.C., the charity events, the warm relations among the congressional spouses from both parties, and their fervent hope that Kansans would keep returning the Marshalls to the gilded D.C. lifestyle to which they had become accustomed.

FISA reform? Don’t be obtuse. Nancy wouldn’t like that.

Upon migrating to the United States many years ago, I embraced my new home and left the past behind. Never could I imagine that, at some point, that past would become relevant.

But now, I am compelled to talk about it again.

In the USSR, we had state-controlled media which shaped the narrative entirely.

Our founder, Vladimir Lenin, was portrayed as a noble, charismatic, and smart man -- the champion of the underdog (the working class), the seeker of equality, defeater of the rich. The humble man with common ideas who was destined for greatness.

Lenin peered at us intently from textbooks and walls. His was the face behind the good intentions that shaped our everyday life.
As a kid, I was largely shielded by my family -- they took the brunt of "adult tasks" in everyday life. They bribed officials to accomplish the most basic of things, they conserved every kopek and piece of bread, they got me the rare medicines I needed, all through means I didn't dare fathom.

Of course, there was nothing special about those medicines, those favors, or anything else that took such effort to obtain -- in America, you can just go out and get it in a corner store. In the Soviet Union, the word "deficit" was commonly used in everyday language.

Just a gentle reminder about Democrats and viruses

Within days of China's announcement of a deadly, novel Coronavirus, President Trump closed the U.S. to travel from those who had visited mainland China. This occurred in January. Democrats' reactions then included calling the President "hysterically xenophobic" (Joe Biden) and, well, Chuck Schumer.

While the virus grew in January, the President took quick, decisive actions to protect Americans. Democrats, on the other hand, were still focused on "impeachment."

Democrat Congressional leaders Pelosi and Schumer have harshly critiqued the federal response to this novel threat. Yet, 90 to 95 percent of all federal health care workers -- HHS, NIH, CDC, etc. -- are registered Democrats. Somehow, their own party's leaders are slamming Democrats' ability to respond to a crisis. Very odd.

The fact that the open borders kooks are now complaining about foreign viruses is... ironic.     Hat tip: BadBlue News.

Mueller Team Under the Microscope

House Republicans are prepared to send criminal referrals to the Justice Department alleging that some of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s prosecutors purposefully misled the courts and Congress.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, told investigative journalist John Solomon that his team found glaring evidence of deception while scouring documents recently released by the FBI, including witness reports known as 302s.

“We’re now going through these 302s, and we’re going to be making criminal referrals on the Mueller dossier team, the people that put this Mueller report together,” Nunes said during an interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast.

An FBI agent faulted for some of the most significant problems laid out in the Justice Department’s inspector general report on FISA abuse against a Trump campaign associate has been identified.

The New York Times, citing people familiar with the FBI’s Russia probe, identified Stephen A. Somma, a counterintelligence investigator who works out of the bureau’s New York field office, as “Case Agent 1” from the inspector general’s (IG) report.

The IG blasted the FBI for its handling of information used to obtain four surveillance orders against Carter Page, a former Trump campaign aide.

“Case Agent 1” is singled in the report as being “primarily responsible for some of the most significant errors and omissions in the FISA applications.”
