What Could Go Wrong? DHS Head Napolitano May Permit Muslim Women Wearing Hijabs to Bypass Full-Body Security Checks

You knew the Department of Homeland Security was broken under Janet "Don't call me Reno" Napolitano. She won't secure the border. She can't bring herself to name the religion that breeds an incessant flow of suicidal extremists. And now she may allow Muslim women wearing hijabs (full body coverings) to pass through security without the intrusive scanning process that the rest of the citizenry must endure.

“On the pat downs, CAIR [the Council on American-Islamic Relations] has recommended that Muslim women wearing hijabs refuse to go through the full body pat downs before boarding planes,” CNSNews.com asked Napolitano at a Monday press conference. “Will you insist that they do go through full body pat downs before boarding planes?”

“Look, we have, like I said before, we are doing what we need to do to protect the traveling public and adjustments will be made where they need to be made,” Napolitano responded. “With respect to that particular issue, I think there will be more to come...

Let's see if I have this straight. There's a specific group of people that killed 3,000 innocents on 9/11; tried to detonate a shoe bomb on a flight; attempted to bring down airliners with liquid explosives; created parcel bombs in the hopes that they could rain airliners down on American cities; and also constructed undergarment bombs to slay men, women and children.

But Janet Reno Napolitano is considering "adjustments" to the security process for members of that very same group of people, using the recommendations of an extremist front group linked by the FBI to all sorts of skulduggery.

Maybe we should all wear hijabs to the airport.

Justice in the Time of Obama

Dan from New York:

Dispute over New Black Panthers case causes deep divisions

This blockbuster story in the Washington Post today exposes the reverse racism that has engulfed our Justice Department since Obama took office and appointed Eric Holder his Attorney General.

The Post's revelations are so shocking, even a conservative like Andrew Breitbart was startled:

"So the Post does what nobody has been able to do – obtain deep sourcing inside the Department confirming what Adams and Coates have been saying for months. This is a devastating piece of work by the Washington Post. This is a rare moment where the old print media has returned to the higher standards of years past, and reported facts. A week from an election, it couldn’t have come at a worse time for Eric Holder."

Let's Take Our Country Back While There's Still Time.
It's November or Never, America.

Except in Obama's America, "Lady Justice is... depicted wearing a blindfold. The blindfold represents objectivity, in that justice is (or should be) meted out objectively, without fear or favor, regardless of identity, money, power, or weakness; blind justice and blind impartiality."

Today's headlines from a border that's as "secure as it's ever been"

Mexican Military Crosses into US Side of Bridge

The Progreso International Bridge was closed down for a short time following an incident with the Mexican military. The Mexican military were allegedly chasing a speeding driver of Dodge Nitro truck. The driver crossed from the U.S. into Mexico. At the Mexican checkpoint, the driver turned around and fled back to the U.S. The Mexican military followed and crossed the international boundary on the bridge... As a result, the Progreso International Bridge was temporarily shut down on both sides.

Border Patrol Agents Receive Fire from Mexico

Gunmen from Mexico open fire on border patrol agents in the Valley... It happened this afternoon in in the town of Fronton, near Roma. Officials say men armed with guns across the border in Mexico fired several shots at officers who were in patrolling in the Valley. Authorities say no one was injured...

Mexico demands U.S. stop deporting illegal immigrant felons

A coalition of mayors from Mexico is blaming the U.S. for the exploding violence on the border, arguing (with a straight face) that if we would just stop deporting dangerous felons back to border cities in Mexico, much of the violence would go away...

Brownsville PD: Targets specific in spillover violence

Brownsville residents have "nothing to fear" from the spillover of drug war violence from Mexico, authorities said... "The people that go about their business and lead a regular life really have nothing to fear from this," Brownsville Police Chief Carlos Garcia said. "If you are not involved in illegal trade or organized crime, this won’t affect you..."

Comforting.

White House continues push for immigration reform

A White House official on Tuesday continued the administration's push for comprehensive immigration reform, indicating that a debate over the emotional issue may be underway sooner rather than later... Speaking at a think tank event in Washington, White House Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy Melody Barnes noted that Bob Menendez, a Democratic senator from New Jersey, said he planned to introduce a comprehensive immigration reform bill in the near future...

Remember, folks, there's nothing to worry about.

If you're not involved in the drug-trade, or jet-skiing in the wrong place, or simply wandering into the line of fire, you're as safe as safe can be.

We know this because Janet Napolitano, DHS Secretary, told us that the border is "as secure as it has ever been."

Watershed Moment: A Few Minutes Ago, the New York Times Was Finally Forced to Report on the New Black Panther Whistleblower's Testimony

Moments ago, The New York Times finally reported on the testimony of Justice Department Civil Rights attorney Christopher Coates. The most experienced attorney in the Voting Rights division alleged institutionalized racism by the Holder DOJ. Worse for President Obama, Coates is a former ACLU attorney and was originally hired by Bill Clinton. He represents the antithesis of a 'right wing' zealot.

True, the Times' article will most likely appear on page B-17 of tomorrow's fish-wrap of record. Yes, the entire article is roughly three column-inches.

But since the ice was smashed with original reporting by the Washington Post, the DNC publicists at the Times appear to have given up on their information suppression campaign.

If proven true, Coates' allegations represent Watergate-level criminality by the Obama-Holder Justice Department. And the controversy just won't die, thanks to continued, original coverage by Pajamas Media, Michelle Malkin and other new media outlets.

As for the rest of the legacy media's reporting on Coates' testimony, the scoreboard stands as follows:

ABC News: nothing.
CBS News: one short AP wire story on 9/24.
NBC News: one short AP wire story on 9/24.
Politico: one story on 9/25.
Los Angeles Times: two articles including substantial original writing.
MediaMatters: one list of cherry-picked facts using the standard, Soros-approved damage-control format.

Watergate started with a botched break-in. Methinks the Times' reportage represents a real watershed moment in the pursuit of Eric Holder's bizarro DOJ.

What Do You Call a Group of Terror-Supporters, Racists and Communists Under One Roof? Since 1/09, That Would Be The Department of 'Justice'

You've probably read the recent reports by Justice Department whisteblowers alleging institutionalized racism by the agency's Voting Rights Division. The most visible example, of course, was the non-prosecution of the 'New Black Panthers' who threatened voters at a Philadelphia polling place.

But the DOJ is not simply infested with racists.

Recall that other senior Justice officials under Attorney General Eric Holder were members of the "Gitmo Nine". This cadre of attorneys helped defend terrorist detainees imprisoned at Guantanamo, many pro bono -- i.e., out of the "goodness" of their hearts. In other words, senior members of Holder's crew volunteered their time to defend those who had a direct or indirect involvement in the barbaric 9/11 attacks that killed 3,000 Americans.

In its attempts to defend its outrageous behavior, the Justice Department has all but bragged that it will also hire Communists. RedState's Moe Lane catches an utterly bizarre statement in the Washington Post's reporting of the whistleblower testimony.

Justice officials tried to turn around the [racism] allegations, pointing to internal watchdog reports accusing the George W. Bush administration of politicizing hiring in the civil rights division. The watchdogs concluded, for example, that the division's former head refused to hire lawyers who he labeled "commies."

Yes, the Holder Justice Department believes that failing to hire Communists -- the very enemies that America battled tooth-and-nail during the Cold War -- is somehow equivalent to institutionalized racism. Screening out the very Communists who would destroy America, apparently, is no longer a concern of the Obama DOJ.

The modern Democrat Party appears to have lost its collective mind. Although, I suppose with the election of Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, we already knew that.

Remember in November.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls, Eric Holder: "The DOJ is infested with racially motivated hostility towards equal enforcement of the law"

Leave it to Christian Adams, the recently resigned DOJ official, to succinctly interpret the testimony of one Christopher Coates. The former Justice voting rights chief blistered Attorney General Eric Holder's Justice Department as having metastasized with a sickening form of racism.

Coates described a Justice Department that is actively hostile to a race-neutral approach to law enforcement. He stated that he was reprimanded by Acting Assistant Attorney General Loretta King after he asked job applicants whether they could enforce voting rights laws without considering race.

There is a deep-seated opposition to the race-neutral enforcement of the Voting Rights Act against racial minorities and for the protection of whites who have been discriminated against... The opposition within the Voting Section to taking actions on behalf of white voters in Noxubee County, Mississippi,... was widespread...

...The final disposition of the [New Black Panther] case, even in the face of a default by the defendants, was caused by this incorrect view of civil rights enforcement, and it was intended to send a direct message to people inside and outside the Civil Rights Division. That message is that the filing of voting cases [against blacks] would not continue in the Obama administration...

Coates describes blatant lawlessness inside the Holder Justice Department.

Illustrative of the chaos, reporter Mike Roman revealed earlier this week that one of the Philadelphia New Black Panthers -- Jerry Jackson -- is a "felon in possession of a firearm."

Adam states that Holder's Justice Department is intentionally failing to enforce federal statutes that ban the possession of firearms by felons.

This administration and this Congress is lawless. And that is why the House must be cleaned in November -- and that's just for starters.

We no longer must consult history for a lawyer-hero willing to take personal risk for sacred principles such as the rule of law and racial equality. Our age can claim Christopher Coates. My profession has not seen a hero like Coates since the giants of the civil rights movement convinced the courts to eradicate legal racial discrimination. Coates has dedicated a lifetime to following in their footsteps, to ensuring free access to the ballot.

Today, in the twilight of his career, America witnessed his finest hour.

Eric Holder is destined to become one of history's laughingstocks -- and, very likely, a criminal one at that.

The nation of cowards is coming to call.

'Secure as it's ever been': Gun Battles--in Arizona--Now Breaking Out Between Mexican Drug Smugglers and Federal Agents

Gee, this Democrat border security strategy is really working out well. Nogales International confirms the impeccable law enforcement credentials of the Obama Democrats.

Border Patrol agents returned fire after being shot at by unidentified assailants west of Nogales last Sunday, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Border Patrol notified the Sheriff’s Office of the exchange of fire shortly before 6 p.m. on Sept. 5 and deputies responded to Bellota Canyon, northeast of Peña Blanca Lake and 5 1/4 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Raoul Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said agents were patrolling the canyon on foot when three or four armed individuals began shooting at them.

“Luckily the agents were not injured and were able to return fire,” Rodriguez said.

Border Patrol saturated the area with aerial recon and also deployed its special response team, while sheriff’s deputies also searched for the shooters.

ICE: We've Caught-and-Released More Than 500,000 Illegal Aliens Who Are Now Fugitives--More Than Entire Population of Sacramento

There is something quite wrong with an administration that actively encourages illegal immigration while repeatedly suing a state that is trying to enforce immigration law.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) says that as of Sunday, Sept. 5, it had caught-and-released 506,232 illegal aliens who are now fugtives. That is more than the population of Sacramento, California, which currently numbers 486,189.

Fugitive illegal aliens are individuals who were apprehended ICE for being in the United States illegally and then were released ahead of their court proceedings and deemed fugitive when they failed to appear in court.

...In an earlier story on the number of fugitives that are in the United States illegally from countries other than Mexico, CNSNews.com asked ICE spokeswoman Gillian Brigham to define what DHS considers a fugitive... Brigham said a “fugitive” is defined as an individual who has been found legally deportable and has evaded authorities.

“A fugitive is an individual who has a final order of removal and has absconded,” Brigham said.

In other comforting news, the White House appears to be devoting more energy to catching carp at the border than criminals.

Laser-focused on jobs, Obama 'Justice' Department files another Arizona lawsuit to intimidate employers into hiring more illegal immigrants

This should help the unemployment rate

The Washington Post reports that the Obama Justice Department has filed yet another lawsuit in Arizona. This one is intended to intimidate employers into more permissive hiring practices, which will translate into more jobs for illegal aliens. And therefore more undocumented Democrats.

The Justice Department filed another lawsuit against immigration practices by Arizona authorities, saying Monday that a network of community colleges acted illegally in requiring noncitizens to provide their green cards before they could be hired for jobs...

In Monday's lawsuit, Justice officials said the colleges discriminated against nearly 250 noncitizen job applicants by mandating that they fill out more documents than required by law to prove their eligibility to work. That violated the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, the department said... The government is asking a judge within the Justice Department unit to order the Maricopa colleges to pay a civil penalty of $1,100 for each of the 247 non-U.S.-citizen job applicants it says were required to produce the additional documents. It says the colleges ended the practice in January.

A quarter of a million dollar fine will definitely have employers thinking twice about checking job candidates' bonafides. And that is the intent.

And it's but one step among many.

Humiliating: The Obama State Department reported Arizona's new immigration law to the United Nations' Human Rights Council for its review. A bigger cast of despots, tyrants and torturers you'd be hard-pressed to assemble anywhere. The UN 'Human Rights' Council includes China, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Russia, Cuba, Pakistan, Tunisia and Egypt. The State Department is asking the council to review possible human rights violations by Arizona.

Demeaning: The Obama 'Justice' Department has also announced its intent to investigate Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Arizona's popular law enforcement official. His 'crime'? Pursuing illegal immigrants.

Destructive: In the midst of a civil war in Mexico, with at least 28,000 fatalities, President Obama decided to declare war -- on Arizona. Its lawsuit against the beleaguered state was preceded by a series of affronts.

The president has stiffed Gov. Jan Brewer's call for meaningful assistance in efforts to secure the border. And the White House has accused Arizona's junior senator, Republican Jon Kyl, of lying about an Oval Office discussion with the president over comprehensive immigration reform... [and] Brewer was appalled to learn the Justice Department's intentions not from the Justice Department but from an interview done by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with an Ecuadorian TV outlet.

This administration -- and its 'Justice' Department -- is completely out of control. It is acting without restraint and in clear violation of federal law. Its one goal is not protecting American citizens--it is to create as many Democrat voters for the midterm elections as possible.

America, it's November or never. And that's no joke.

I'm so confused by Eric Holder: waterboarding is torture, but broiling the skin of prisoners with a heat ray gun is just peachy

Famed bodybuilding guru Joe Weider used to have an exercise regimen called the Muscle Confusion Principle. His theory was that you could force your body to grow faster if you continually changed your workouts; by avoiding cyclical repetition, your body would be forced to adapt.

I'm thinking that Eric Holder borrowed the concept for his Department of 'Justice'. The Eric Holder Legal Confusion System™ appears to do the opposite of what you'd expect. Like pursuing Arizona for its enforcement of immigration law. Or dropping a slam-dunk voter intimidation case against members of the New Black Panther Party. Or attempting to try the 9/11 masterminds in civilian courts -- at Ground Zero. Et cetera.

If I told you that the Holder DOJ is funding a "heat beam ray", the application of which on prisoners many believe is "tantamount to torture", you'd dismiss it in a moment. After all, these are the same rocket scientists who believe waterboarding is torture (despite the fact that our own personnel are subjected to it in SERE School as a matter of course). But it's true -- Tampa Bay Online reports that Los Angeles will soon receive heat ray guns from the DOJ to use on prisoners.

A device designed to control unruly inmates by blasting them with a beam of intense energy that causes a burning sensation is drawing heat from civil rights groups who fear it could cause serious injury and is "tantamount to torture."

The mechanism, known as an "Assault Intervention Device," is a stripped-down version of a military gadget that sends highly focused beams of energy at people and makes them feel as though they are burning. The Los Angeles County sheriff's department plans to install the device by Labor Day, making it the first time in the world the technology has been deployed in such a capacity... The natural response when blasted - to leap out the way - would be helpful in bringing difficult inmates under control and quelling riots, the sheriff said.

..."The neat thing with this device is you experience pain but you are not injured by it," Osborne said. "It doesn't injure your skin, the beam doesn't have the power to do that."

...The device was made specifically for the sheriff's department by Raytheon Missile Systems. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said its $750,000 cost was paid for by a Department of Justice technology grant.

The ACLU claims (PDF):

While the device was being tested by the Air Force, a miscalibration of the device's power settings caused five airmen in its path to suffer lasting burns, including one whose injuries were so severe that he was airlifted to an off-base burn treatment center.

According to a 2008 report by physicist and less-lethal weapons expert Dr. Juergen Altmann, "the ADS provides the technical possibility to produce burns of second and third degree . . . over considerable parts of the body, up to 50% of its surface," and "without a technical device that reliably prevents re-triggering on the same target subject, the ADS has the potential to produce permanent injury or death."

I'm so confused.

Waterboarding is torture, but broiling the skin of prisoners is just peachy?

Could someone help me out here?

Oh -- and where's legacy media, breathlessly trumpeting thousands of news stories nationwide about Obama's imperialistic torture regime?

Car Bombs -- With Texas License Plates -- Detonating in Mexico; White House Reaction? More Open Borders!

Runner-up headline: How's that Obama-Holder open borders strategy working out?

Stratfor Research reports that improvised explosive devices (IEDs) are becoming commonplace in Mexico (subscription required). Interestingly, CNN International also reported this story a few moments ago, but its mother network (CNN USA) is thus far mum.

At least two car bombs exploded Friday near the television studios of Televisa in Ciudad Victoria, the capital of Tamaulipas state in northeastern Mexico, authorities said...

...The car that exploded in front of the television studio was a red Chevrolet Corsica with Texas license plates, the attorney general's office said in a news release. The car in front of the transit office was a white Mazda, also with Texas license plates...

Tamaulipas is the state where authorities discovered 72 bodies this week on a ranch believed to be used by narcotraffickers. Authorities are investigating whether the 58 men and 14 women, who were migrants from Central and South America, were killed by the Zetas cartel.

Car bombings are a relatively new phenomena in Mexico.

But, as Big Peace's Frank Gaffney reports, these kinds of attacks shouldn't come as a surprise.

...Mexican authorities arrested a senior operative of the Lebanese terrorist group, Hezbollah, named Jameel Nasr... [Mexico] "foil[ed] an attempt by Hezbollah to establish a network in South America."

...Iran’s most dangerous terrorist proxy, Hezbollah, is operating with impunity in Latin America. The capture of Nasr comes as the President tells Senator Jon Kyl that the border must remain insecure until he gets a deal from congressional opponents of an amnesty for the many millions of illegal aliens already in this country.

The Nasr arrest also was revealed at the very moment the Department of Justice announced that the federal government was going to sue to prevent Arizona from enforcing federal laws on immigration.

Of course, this makes President Obama's open-borders policy all the more... eh... exciting.

But we already knew that, didn't we?

Sacrilege: The Obama-Holder 'Justice' Department Won't Pursue Trial of USS Cole Bomber, Plus: a Memo to Ace Regarding the NRSC

The Washington Post's Peter Finn reports that the Obama administration has decided not to prosecute the apparent terrorist mastermind behind the USS Cole bombing in 2000. Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri had been accused of orchestrating the attack that killed 17 American sailors aboard the Cole ten years ago.

The decision at least temporarily scuttles what was supposed to be the signature trial of a major al-Qaeda figure under a reformed system of military commissions. And it comes practically on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the attack, which killed 17 sailors and wounded dozens when a boat packed with explosives ripped a hole in the side of the warship in the port of Aden.

In a filing this week in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the Justice Department said that "no charges are either pending or contemplated with respect to al-Nashiri in the near future."

..."It's politics at this point," said one military official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss policy. He said he thinks the administration does not want to proceed against a high-value detainee without some prospect of civilian trials for other major figures at Guantanamo Bay...

...With the 10th anniversary of the Cole bombing approaching on Oct. 12, relatives of those killed in the attack expressed deep frustration with the delay... "After 10 years, it seems like nobody really cares," said Gloria Clodfelter, whose 21-year-old son, Kenneth, was killed on the Cole.

A Memo to Ace

Much as I enjoy the verbal stylings of Ace, he is dead wrong when he claims a "third party is the only way" because a particular funding arm of the Republican Party (in this case, the NRSC) went off the reservation.

Bull***.

If you want to defend the memories of those who served -- and protect those who serve today, you'll vote for every Republican you can in November.

A third party represents a fit of petulance that throws our warriors, our law enforcement personnel, our first responders, our children and our grandchildren to the wolves of Statism.

Who could advocate for such a thing, when the only tactic available to us is to overthrow the Beltway GOP? We've won some (Angle, Bennett, ...) and lost some (McCain), but we've battled hard to send more conservative Republicans to Washington.

A third party? Ace, have you been smoking crack?

Do you want Darrell Issa, bless his heart, to investigate the raw criminality that has infected the Democrat leadership? If not, vote for a third party.

Do you want to de-fund socialized medicine, the EPA, the Department of Education, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Labor, et. al.? If not, vote for a third party.

I don't give a crap what the NRSC did in the Alaskan primary.

They are clueless little Beltway hacks -- and we can dispense with them after we crush the people destroying our Republic.

E-Z to follow instructions: get out of any traffic violation without a ticket, points on your driver's license, or other legal hassles

Stopped for a traffic violation and don't want to get hit with an expensive ticket? Just follow these simple instructions:

1. When the police officer asks for your driver's license and registration, state: "No habla ingles."

2. As the police officer figures out how to react, recite the following sentence (preferably using a exaggerated accent): "I am an illegal alien to the United States."

3. Before the police officer can react to your second statement, close the deal with: "You are not allowed to ask for my papers. Eric Holder said so."

4. After the police officer shrugs, closes his traffic investigation pad and sends you on your way, put the car in D (not R, heh) and slowly drive away from the scene. Try not to unleash an evil cackle.

Note: If you are hassled at all, contact La Raza or some other separatist front group for the government of Mexico and figure out how to sue the city, town or county in question.

After all, according to the Obama administration and the Holder DOJ, no one has a right to ask you for your papers. And anyone who does so must be profiling.

By the way: if I were better at making money, I'd turn this into a 30-minute infomercial and charge four installments of $19.95 for all of this valuable information.

So It Begins: DHS implements 'Backdoor Amnesty' and other startling immigration stories our beloved legacy media forgot to report

At the intersection of incompetence and ideology lies a crossroads called Legacy Media.

Feds moving to dismiss some deportation cases

Critics assail the plan as a bid to create a kind of backdoor 'amnesty'

The Department of Homeland Security is systematically reviewing thousands of pending immigration cases and moving to dismiss those filed against suspected illegal immigrants who have no serious criminal records... Critics assailed the plan as another sign that the Obama administration is trying to create a kind of backdoor "amnesty" program...

"They've made clear that they have no interest in enforcing immigration laws against people who are not convicted criminals," said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, which advocates for strict controls.

"This situation is just another side effect of President Obama's failure to deliver on his campaign promise to make immigration reform a priority in his first year," said U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas. "Until he does, state and local authorities are left with no choice but to pick up the slack for prosecuting and detaining criminal aliens."

...Tre Rebsock, the ICE union representative in Houston, said even if the efforts involve only a fraction of the pending immigration cases, "that's going to make our officers feel even more powerless to enforce the laws."

Myrick: 'Homegrown' terrorists are working within U.S.

Republican U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick warned a Huntersville audience Tuesday about the dangers of "homegrown terrorism" and new Iranian inroads into the Americas... [it was] when she was asked, "What keeps Sue Myrick up at night?" that her voice rose... "I'm extremely concerned about Iran and the situation in the Middle East," she said. "People don't want to face the fact that we have terrorist organizations operating in this hemisphere and this country."

Myrick, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, said she's disturbed by reported activities in this hemisphere by the Lebanese-based Islamic group Hezbollah, seen by many as an Iranian proxy... Myrick repeated what she wrote in a June 23 letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano: that Hezbollah has increased its cooperation with Central American drug cartels and poses a threat to security on the southern U.S. border.

Myrick said she worries about Iranians learning Spanish and slipping through the border.

But Homeland Security spokeswoman Amy Kudwa said Tuesday that, "At this time, DHS does not have any credible information on terrorist groups operating along the Southwest Border."

Myrick also expressed her frustration with the case of Samir Khan. He was the former Central Piedmont Community College student who ran a radical blog from his parents' Charlotte home... Intelligence sources said last month that they believe Khan is the top editor of "Inspire," an online magazine designed as a recruiting tool for the group al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula... The first issue contained elaborate graphics and articles titled, "What to Expect in Jihad" and "Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom.

Mexican Military Finds 72 Bodies Near U.S. Border

Mexican marines found the dumped bodies of 72 people at a rural location in northern Mexico following a shootout with suspected drug cartel gunmen that left one marine and three suspects dead, the Navy reported late Tuesday.

The cadavers of 58 men and 14 women were found at a spot near the Gulf coast south of the border city of Matamoros. It appears to be the largest drug-cartel body dumping ground found in Mexico since President Felipe Calderon launched an offensive against drug trafficking in late 2006...

...The area has been wracked by bloody turf battles between the Gulf drug cartel and their one-time allies, the Zetas drug gang.

In May, authorities discovered 55 bodies in an abandoned mine near Taxco, a colonial-era city south of Mexico City that is popular with international tourists... In July, investigators found 51 corpses in two days of digging in a field near a trash dump outside the northern city of Monterrey. Many of those found were believed to have been rival traffickers. But cartels often dispose of the bodies of kidnap victims in such dumping grounds.

More than 28,000 people have been killed in violence tied to Mexico's drug war since the offensive began.

Perhaps one day, we'll open up our local newspaper to see all of these stories reported fully and accurately.

But, then, I'm a dreamer.

Nation of Cowards: Eric Holder Hiring Linguists Who Can Understand African-American Dialects. Seriously.

Remember: they're uniters, not dividers.

This is non-fiction: an RFP from Eric Holder's Department of Justice, as publicized by The Smoking Gun, is fairly outrageous. In short, the DEA wants "Black English" linguistic experts to decipher the audio recordings of bugged calls.

Thought experiment: I wonder what legacy media would say if the Bush administration had tried something like this?

Eric Holder's Outrage du jour: Will Sue Sheriff Joe Arpaio Next Week

Government Security News alerts us to Eric Holder's latest outrage. Rather than seal the southern border against an ongoing invasion of drug-smugglers, gun-runners, gang-members, criminals and other undocumented Democrats, the Justice Department will probably sue one of the best sheriffs in the country.

U.S. Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez warned attorneys for Sheriff Joe Arpaio, of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) in Arizona, in a letter dated August 3, that unless Arpaio voluntarily cooperates by August 17 with an investigation by the Justice Department’s civil rights division into allegations that Arpaio’s office has engaged in “unlawful searches and seizures, discriminatory police conduct, and failure to provide basic services to individuals with limited English proficiency,” the Justice Dept. “will file a Title VI civil action to compel access to the requested documents, facilities and personnel.”

...the Perez letter says, “In order to avoid litigation, please provide a complete response to the First Request and an agreement to permit access to all pertinent MCSO facilities and personnel no later than August 17, 2010.”

...According to an article by Channing Turner in the independent, Washington-based news site Main Justice, attorney Robert Driscoll, of Alston & Bird, LLP, who represents Arpaio, has described the Justice Department’s threat to sue the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office as premature and has indicated that Arpaio will cooperate with certain elements of the probe.

But Driscoll also claimed that Arpaio had previously handed over thousands of documents in a lawsuit involving allegations that Arpaio’s deputies had racially profiled Hispanics, and that arguments contained in the Perez letter “conflated the legal boundaries between two separate and ongoing investigations.”

Millions of illegals have entered the country. The southern border is wide open. The American people, by a huge margin, want the border sealed before there's any talk of a path to citizenship "immigration reform".

But the Democrats refuse to secure the border. They refuse to protect the lives of American law enforcement officers. They refuse to stop known terrorists from entering the country. They defy their most important mission -- to protect Americans.

So why do we have Customs inspections at ports of entry?

Why do we have full-body scanners at airports?

And why do we have a Justice Department that insists on civil rights for illegal aliens, but not American voters intimidated by racists at polling places?

There is something deeply, deeply flawed (I almost used a different F-word) with the modern Democrat Party. And all of us had better take action in November.

WaPo Ombudsman Explains Non-Coverage of PantherGate: We Were Really Quite Busy, What With the Macaca Fallout and All

Washington Post Ombudsman Andrew Alexander took time away from his busy schedule to explain why the dying newspaper hadn't covered the New Black Panther voter intimidation case.

For months, readers have contacted the ombudsman wondering why The Post hasn't been covering the case. The calls increased recently after competitors such as the New York Times and the Associated Press wrote stories. Fox News and right-wing bloggers have been pumping the story. Liberal bloggers have countered, accusing them of trying to manufacture a scandal.

But The Post has been virtually silent.

...National Editor Kevin Merida, who termed the controversy "significant," said he wished The Post had written about it sooner. The delay was a result of limited staffing and a heavy volume of other news on the Justice Department beat, he said.

In related news, the Post did manage to print the word macacca 96 times within a one month period.

Try to imagine the Post ignoring a story about, say, John Ashcroft killing a case involving whites who intimidated blacks with weapons and racial epithets at a polling place.

The Post's agenda is crystal clear. Its purpose is not the pursuit of objective reporting. Its ideology trumps the truth -- and its purpose is to mislead.

Businesses must sell and make a profit to stay in business. The Post is so dedicated to its cause, however, that it will still be manufacturing lies when the last customer exits stage left.

The act of committing fiscal suicide -- wearing ideological blinders as real news stories occur, unreported, around them -- is proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.

Perhaps if the Post ventured into reporting the news accurately, its staffing might not be quite so limited.
