The Sickness

Consider, if you will, the priorities of Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Pelosi-Obama-Reid Democrats:

In Pelosi's world, Illegal Aliens must be granted free health care and voting rights.

Families making up to $100,000 annually are given free health care through the 2009 Obama SCHIP program, even if they have private health care insurance.

But our Wounded Warriors? They should be forced to use private health insurance for their grievous injuries.

The modern Democrat Party, controlled by George Soros, is infected with a sickness.

And they don't -- that's right, I said it -- they don't support the troops. In fact, Democrats hate the troops.

And Barack Obama proved it with his outrageous proposal to charge veterans for their own health care while preparing to offer citizenship and free health care for illegal immigrants. And I don't care if he retracted his demands. It's the thought that counts.

"Stimulus" package will send government checks to Illegal Aliens

The Associated Press reports that the Porkulus bill may stimulate one thing and one thing alone: illegal immigration:

The $800 billion-plus economic stimulus measure making its way through Congress could steer government checks to illegal immigrants, a top Republican congressional official asserted Thursday.

The legislation, which would send tax credits of $500 per worker and $1,000 per couple, expressly disqualifies nonresident aliens, but it would allow people who don't have Social Security numbers to be eligible for the checks.

Undocumented immigrants who are not eligible for a Social Security number can file tax returns with an alternative number. A House-passed version of the economic recovery bill and one making its way through the Senate would allow anyone with such a number, called an individual taxpayer identification number, to qualify for the tax credits.

A revolt among GOP conservatives to similar provisions of a 2008 economic stimulus bill, which sent rebate checks to most wage earners, forced Democratic congressional leaders to add stricter eligibility requirements. That legislation, enacted in February 2008, required that people have valid Social Security numbers in order to get checks...

This pork package -- the SS Titanic of Stimulus Packages -- is like an onion. Peel a layer and start crying anew. It's a slap in the face for every American taxpayer.

Update: Gateway Pundit reports that the vote-fraud consortium known as ACORN remains a huge recipient of the wealth redistribution program.

Our terrifying new head of Homeland Security

For $100 dollars, answer the following question: when asked about the border fence, who said "Show me a 50-foot wall and I'll show you a 51-foot ladder"?

Give up?

That would be the ostensible Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano.

In 2005, she pilloried the idea of a border fence, stating "it would be too expensive, take too long to construct, and be ineffective once completed."

That was, of course, before 500 miles of fence were completed with noteworthy success.

Accuracy in Media has reported a variety of troubling aspects related to her record:

The reality is that, when it comes to illegal immigration, Napolitano has been all over the place. Parts of her record as governor of Arizona were abysmal. In 2006 and 2007, she was a vocal supporter of the failed federal mass-amnesty bills. Napolitano has opposed the building of border fence. She vetoed legislation that would have ended the ability of illegals to pay lower in-state tuition rates at Arizona public colleges and universities. In 2004, she failed in her attempt to defeat a 2004 ballot initiative to deny most non-essential services and benefits to illegals...

After voters ignored Napolitano and overwhelmingly approved the measure, she tried to neuter its effect by limiting it to five relatively small benefit programs. Napolitano also fought implementation of the federal Real ID Act, the 2005 bill requiring states to make their driver’s licenses and other state-issued identity documents more secure and make certain that illegal aliens cannot obtain them. (This was done to prevent a recurrence of the situation in which September 11th hijackers who were illegal aliens carried driver’s licenses and other forms of state-issued ID.) In June of this year, Napolitano signed into law legislation barring Arizona from complying with Real ID.

Open borders! September 10th! Hopeenchange!

Seeking the overthrow of the U.S. government but still want a plum position in the Obama administration? No problemo!

So you want to overthrow the U.S. government, but also want a juicy job in the Obama administration?

No problemo!

Executive Summary: A key Obama appointee is an executive with a racially divisive group (hell, it's called "The Race") that implicitly supports the overthrow of the United States government with, as an added bonus, ethnic cleansing thrown in the mix.

In December The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) proudly announced:

"NCLR’s own Cecilia Muñoz will combine substantive policy knowledge and deft political skill in her new job as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs.”

The mission of NCLR is crystal clear.

Immigration: NCLR strives “to encourage immigration policies that are fair and nondiscriminatory, to encourage family reunification, and to enact necessary reforms to the current immigration system.” In short, it favors amnesty for illegals already residing in the U.S., and open borders henceforth. In La Raza’s calculus, any restriction on the free movement of immigrants constitutes a violation of their civil rights, and any reduction in government assistance to illegal border-crossers is “a disgrace to American values.” Thus La Raza supports continued mass Mexican immigration to the United States, and hopes to achieve, by the sheer weight of numbers, the re-partition of the American Southwest as a new state called Aztlan [Ed: in other words, to overthrow the U.S. government in the southwest portion of the country] -- to be controlled by its alleged rightful owners, the people and government of Mexico... At many of the “pro-immigration” rallies that NCLR members have attended in recent times, their signature slogan has been: "La Raza unida nunca sera vencida!" ("The united [Hispanic] race will never be defeated!")

The mythical state of Aztlan, for which the NCLR and its offshoot, racially-aligned groups aspire, is a common theme among many of the radical Marxist-Latino groups.

Consider one of the many "schools" that the NCLR funds:

Aztlan Academy in south Tucson seeks “to integrate a meaningful Chicano Studies program into [students’] lives, language, and academics, as a means of developing their intellects as well as their pride and self-esteem." ("Aztlan" is the separatist name for the Southwestern United States that NCLR hopes will someday reunite with Mexico.)

According to Public Schools Report, Aztlan is almost exclusively Hispanic despite being a public school. And Arizona Indymedia reports that it participates in pro-illegal immigration rallies and collaborates with local chapters of MEChA.

Ethnic cleansing and race hate?

A report by Capital Research (PDF) describes another group funded and supported by NCLR.

La Raza supports groups like the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, otherwise known as the Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA). Founded in 1969, MEChA members bought into the Reconquista mythology of detaching the southwestern United States to recreate the land of “Aztlan,” a mythical pre-Columbian civilization with territory on both sides of the current U.S.-Mexico border...

MEChA’s motto is “Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada,” which translates to “For the Race, Everything. Outside the Race, nothing.”

Let's be clear as to what "La Raza" means. It is a general term that refers to those whose ancestry is indigenous to the area of Mexico (or "Aztlan"). MEChA members frequently refer to themselves as "La Raza" or "Raza," but the term itself is used to indicate affinity with other organizations with similar objectives.

Screen-cap of racist hate site La Voz de Atzlan.

These groups include the afore-mentioned MEChA, La Raza Unida Party, The Brown Berets de Aztlan, OLA (Organization for the Liberation of Aztlan), Nation of Aztlan, and others. Nation of Aztlan, linked to La Voz de Aztlan, markets the same propaganda that MEChA profers including antisemitic propaganda. All are believers in "Aztlan" and many of their publications to refer to the U.S., as "AmeriKKKa."

In 2003 an investigation by immigration lawyer Matt Hayes for Fox News discovered disturbing ties between MEChA, anti-Semitism and other forms of racism.

Rudy Acuna, a Cal State Northridge professor of Chicano studies, is a self-described socialist (search), an advisor to MEChA, and a card-carrying separatist who has reportedly publicly urged Chicanos to get more militant about defending their rights and has warned Chicanos that they are living in a "Nazi U.S." where they are in danger of being taken to "intellectual ovens."

...While Acuna denies that MEChA is anti-Semitic, he is a regular contributor to the rabidly anti-Semitic La Voz de Aztlan. Acuna would no doubt contend that his own articles are not anti-Semitic and that Aztlan.com did not reflect his own opinion of Jews. But that would be no different than submitting editorials to the Ku Klux Klan's newsletter and arguing that the Klan's views do not reflect one’s own opinions.

Another Raza group is Nation of Aztlan. According to the Anti-Defamation League, the Nation of Aztlan organization is devoted to anti-Semitism and racial division:

The Nation of Aztlan (NOA), first organized in the early 1990s, is a California-based Hispanic nationalist organization that claims to represent the desires and aspirations of the Hispanic community. The organization calls for the United States to return "Aztlan" territory - Aztlan being the mythic homeland of the Mexican people, or Aztecs, which according to legend is found in the American Southwest or Northern Mexico.

The group's nationalist message is blurred by frequent appeals anti-Semitism, anti-Zionism, homophobia and other expressions of hatred.

But if NCLR has seemingly endless amounts of money for supporting crackpot schools, racist organizations and implicitly supports an agenda of separatism and ethnic cleansing, who could be funding them?

That would be you and I, my friends. The American taxpayer.

Millions in earmarks for La Raza courtesy of none other than Barney Frank

In May of 2008 non-partisan group Judicial Watch highlighted a bizarre series of earmarks directed at NCLR.

The National Council of La Raza already got $1.3 million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development this year to conduct “comprehensive housing counseling’’ for Hispanics, whether they are in the country legally or not. Now the radical group that advocates the return of the American Southwest to Mexico, will get an additional $15 million thanks to an earmark inserted by Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank in a housing bill... Frank, the House Financial Services Chairman, is giving the National Council of La Raza $5 million this year and $10 million in each of the next two years... In fiscal 2006 alone, the group got $15.2 million in federal grants.

...[NCLR] caters to the radical Chicano movement that says California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and parts of Colorado and Texas belong to Aztlan... The takeover plan is referred to as the "reconquista" of the Western U.S. and it features ethnic cleansing of Americans, Europeans, Africans and Asians once the area is taken back and converted to Aztlan. While this may all sound a bit crazy, this organization is quite powerful and its leaders regularly attend congressional hearings regarding immigration.

The group uses its U.S. tax dollars to fund projects like a Southern California elementary school with a curriculum that specializes in bashing America and promoting the Chicano movement. The school's founder and principal, a Calexico-educated activist named Marcos Aguilar, opposes racial integration and says Mexicans in the U.S. don't want to go to white schools or drink from white water fountains.

Barney f''in Frank? I'm telling you, you can't make this stuff up. He's like a bad, pudgy penny. He always turns up.

Why is it that -- whenever there's a disaster looming for this country -- the corpulent, yet stunningly moronic, Barney Frank seems to be behind the curtain? His masterful oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, for instance, helped precipitate our current financial criss.

And here he is funding "La Raza" in all its many Hydra-headed forms and its agenda of the violent overthrow of the United States government.

Cecilia Muñoz needs to go

Can't President-Elect Obama find a mainstream Hispanic official qualified to serve in his administration?

Cecilia Muñoz is not an appropriate appointee for any position in the U.S. government.

* * *

Update: And Cecilia Muñoz is not the only troubling appointee. Carol M. Browner, President-Elect Obama's ostensible Global Warming and Junk Science Czarina, was just busted by The Washington Times.

Until last week, Carol M. Browner, President-elect Barack Obama's pick as global warming czar, was listed as one of 14 leaders of a socialist group's Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which calls for "global governance" and says rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change.

By Thursday, Mrs. Browner's name and biography had been removed from Socialist International's Web page... Her name has been removed from the Gore organization's Web site list of directors, and the Audubon Society issued a press release about her departure from that organization.

Well, I'm sure all of us will gladly shrink our economy during a deep recession to benefit the global warming con artists who can't even convince the environmentalists that their scam is legit.

Those of you who insist Obama's selections are centrist need to do a little more research.

Why you simply must vote for Barack Obama

I've arrivitated at a substantial list of reasons I'm endorsiating Barack Obama. After serious contemplatious ruminitation, I've come to the irrefutile conclusion that it just makes sense.

Because energy prices must increase now to force a quick transition to environmentally friendly technologies:

The accompanying map depicts "The No Zone." This is the region surrounding the United States where Democrats have blocked oil exploration for decades.

Democrats oppose drilling in deepwater, even though Hurricanes Katrina and Rita proved that modern offshore drilling platforms pose virtually no pollution risk. Democrats oppose exploration in a tiny, postage-stamp sized region of Alaska. As for new refineries or nuclear energy, well, the Democrats oppose those, too. The net result of Democratic behavior is that America will become increasingly dependent on foreign oil. While alternative energy sources remain an admirable goal, they are decades away from becoming serious alternatives to oil.

Because trial lawyers need more money and power:

...Biden is one of the tort bar's staunchest allies in Congress, blocking reform at every opportunity while trying to defeat conservative judicial nominees. His quid pro quo with SimmonsCooper in Delaware helps explain why asbestos suits continue to weigh down the courts even after tens of thousands of cases have been shown to be invented. The "change" lawyers will believe in if Mr. Biden makes it to the White House is cold, hard cash...

Because Fannie Mae is an outstanding success story that has helped promote home ownership:

Among the groups denouncing the [Bush] proposal [to strengthen oversight of Fannie and Freddie] today were ...Congressional Democrats who fear that tighter regulation of the companies could sharply reduce their commitment to financing low-income and affordable housing.

”These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ”The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.” ...Representative Melvin L. Watt, Democrat of North Carolina, agreed.

Because our nation's borders are antiquated remnants of an elitist society and must be erased:

In case you thought there was some limit to how blatantly Democrats would betray their own country, this was passed out at the pro–illegal immigration rally in Dallas yesterday...

...The less than subtle suggestion that Texas belongs to Mexico is sure to win hearts among the MEChA set, which holds that the Southwest should be wrested away from the Gringo through massive immigration followed by ethnic cleansing.

Because the American manufacturing sector is too strong and must be weakened:

Our politicians are lucky that most Americans are too busy to follow their antics, because voters would surely howl over Nancy Pelosi's trade priorities this week... the same "fair trade" crowd that bemoans the U.S. trade deficit wants to have only one-way free trade with Latin America -- free for them to sell to us, but not for us to sell to them. Has anyone told the UAW about all those Caterpillar machinery exports to Colombia that Democrats are blocking?

Because Americans need to pour a trillion dollars into another corrupt and certain-to-fail United Nations program:

[Obama's Global Poverty Act bill] efers directly to a United Nations declaration called the Millenium Development Goal, which calls "for a 'redistribution (of) wealth and land,' cancellation of 'the debts of developing countries' and 'a fair distribution of the earth's resources.'"

It effects a "tax on the rental value of land and natural resources," a "royalty on worldwide fossil energy production - oil, natural gas, coal," "fees for the commercial use of the oceans, fees for airplane use of the skies, fees for use of the electromagnetic spectrum, fees on foreign exchange transactions, and a tax on the carbon content of fuels."

Because our intelligence services need to concentrate on global warming climate change, not Jihadists with nukes:

With the introduction of a new "Intelligence Authorization bill", Democrats intend to divert funds from national security intelligence efforts in order to consider "the effects that climate change has on national security." In other words, Democrats view global warming as a threat that justifies stripping funds away from fighting terrorism.

SF Follies: The Anti-Military Sanctuary City Strikes Again

Unbelievable.

SF Chronicle: Family blames sanctuary policy in 3 slayings:

San Francisco's immigrant sanctuary policies played a "substantial" role in the slayings of a father and two of his sons by allowing city officials to shield the alleged killer from deportation, despite his violent history, according to a legal claim filed Friday on behalf of the victims' family.

Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16, were shot to death on a street in the Excelsior district June 22. Edwin Ramos, 21, of El Sobrante, who authorities say is a member of a street gang, has been charged with three counts of murder... Tony Bologna's wife, Danielle, and other relatives denounced the city's sanctuary practices after The Chronicle reported that Ramos, a Salvadoran native suspected of being in this country illegally, had committed felony attempted robbery and assault as a juvenile.

The Chronicle reported that officials with the Juvenile Probation Department, relying on their interpretation of San Francisco's sanctuary city ordinance, had not referred Ramos to federal immigration authorities for possible deportation. The ordinance bars city officials from cooperating with federal crackdowns on illegal immigrants.

SF Chronicle: Pelosi censors poster of troops:

The tale of Pelosi's folly begins with Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C. He wished to pay tribute to the service members of Camp Lejeune who had been killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Accordingly, Walter placed a poster flat against the wall in the corridor outside his office showing their names and pictures... It was altogether fitting that Jones saluted the fallen soldiers on congressional premises. Congress authorized the wars that occasioned their tragic deaths. Congress appropriated the money that dispatched them to mortal danger...

The posters communicated to congressional visitors that war is a combination of heroism and hell. Voters would leave with more informed judgments about the costs of the twin wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. There was no tension between Jones' wall poster and the ordinary use of the House Rayburn Office Building to host direct communications between Members of the House and the public. On one occasion, for instance, a mother from Minnesota entered Jones' office with tears in her eyes to thank him for displaying the picture of her son who had been killed while serving the nation.

Speaker Pelosi apparently took umbrage. Under federal law, she is empowered to issue and enforce rules and regulations governing the use of the House office buildings. A 1999 rule prohibits "displaying any flag, banner, or device designed or adapted to bring into public notice any person, party, organization or movement..." On April 17, Pelosi issued a sister hallway policy to improve compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act by restricting "the display of flags and the placing or storing of any items within a hallway exit access, exit or stairwell of the House Office Buildings."

L.A. Mayor warns Feds against immigration raids

I'm no attorney, but isn't illegal immigration illegal? Apparently not -- as far as philandering L.A. mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is concerned. L.A.'s Daily Breeze reports:

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is asking federal officials to rethink their policy on workplace immigration crackdowns that involve established businesses and to focus on employers that mistreat workers instead.

The mayor said in a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff that work-site raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement could have "severe and long-lasting effects" on the local economy, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday... ICE made more than 4,900 work-site arrests nationwide in fiscal 2007, a 45-fold increase over the number in 2001, authorities said.

More than 130 undocumented workers were arrested at a San Fernando Valley manufacturing company in February and over 60 workers were arrested for immigration violations at South Bay-area warehouses last week...

Villaraigosa accused federal officials of targeting "established, responsible employers" in industries that rely on "workforces that include undocumented immigrants... In these industries, including most areas of manufacturing, even the most scrupulous and responsible employers have no choice but to rely on workers whose documentation, while facially valid, may raise questions about their lawful presence..."

I wonder which laws the mayor chooses to enforce. Do citizens get to pick?

Line o' the Day: Calderon in the Cauldron

Michelle Malkin quotes Tom Tancredo's open letter to Felipe Calderon:

In your speech yesterday to the California State legislature, you lectured the American people on how to improve our immigration policies. Why did you not propose that we model our policies on Mexico’s own policies toward illegal entry across your own southern border? Mexico expends enormous resources to prevent Guatemalans, Hondurans and Salvadorans from entering the country illegally, but you castigate the United States for wanting secure borders. Mr. President, in my neighborhood that is called hypocrisy.

Yup. You read my mind. Read the whole thing.

Open-borders revolutionary backed by antisemites joins McCain

Is that an inflammatory enough headline for you? It reflects the latest developments in the McCain campaign.

Gateway Pundit alerts us to the fact that Juan Hernandez has joined the McCain for President campaign. Who is Juan Hernandez?

He is a former head of Mexico's Ministry for Mexicans Living in the United States. According to Michelle Malkin, who debated Hernandez on multiple occasions, Hernandez' mission was to tie repatriated Mexicans "emotionally, linguistically, politically to Mexico, because then they‘ll continue to send money home.”

In fact, Hernandez told Rep. Tom Tancredo that "it‘s not two countries; it‘s just a region.”

Hernandez refers to the so-called region of "Aztlan", the mythical southwestern portion of the United States that Chicano revolutionaries claim as their own.

Aztlan: an attempt to overthrow the United States government

Universities in the Southwest facilitate student participation in groups like MEChA. MEChA is one of several groups that intend to "reclaim Aztlán" (the outlined portion of the United States):

...we are a Chicana and Chicano student movement directly linked to Aztlán. As Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán, we are a nationalist movement of Indigenous Gente that lay claim to the land that is ours by birthright. As a nationalist movement we seek to free our people from the exploitation of an oppressive society that occupies our land...

Put simply, MEChA's mission is straightforward: overthrow the United States Government and establish a new form of government.

Hernandez: backed by Antisemites

An article from the Aztlan Communications Network (2002) blames Hernandez' prior problems on the "Zionists" ("Fox extends Mexican Government into Aztlan"):

The new cabinet level agency replaces the "Office for Mexicans Living Abroad" that was headed by Juan Hernandez of Dallas, Texas. Mr. Hernandez was born in Texas but he obtained dual citizenship in Mexico under a recent law passed by the Mexican Congress. Mr. Juan Hernandez was ousted by Zionist Foreign Minister Jorge Gutman after he stepped on the mercurial secretary's toes...

The "Revolutionary Council and Provisional Government of Aztlan" sent a copy of a communique to La Voz de Aztlan stating that it welcomes the Mexican government's initiative to help Mexican nationals here in Aztlan but that it vehemently rejects the Mexican government's new connections to Zionists and Zionism...

Put simply, Juan Hernandez appears to be an open-borders revolutionary who is intent on overthrowing the U.S. Government. Furthermore, by dint of his Aztlan connections, he is linked with virulent antisemitic forces.

Please consider that if you intend to vote for John McCain.

If you're a Republican considering voting for John McCain...

...here are some recent headlines for your consideration.

• CNN: Bill Clinton: John McCain and Hillary are 'very close'

• Time: McCain's Mother: Son has no support from GOP Base

• New York Times: Bill Clinton: Hillary and McCain would be most civilized election in history

• AP: Sen. Mel 'Open the Borders' Martinez endorses McCain

Oh, and the New York Times just endorsed Senator McCain.

McCain's a great candidate, just not for the Republican Party.

Kay Bailey Hutchison tells America to go f itself

The Bulletin calls our attention to an outrageous amendment tacked on to the recent omnibus spending bill. The amendment guts the requirements of the 2006 Secure Fence Act that had authorized hundreds of miles of border fence.

In a quiet act of defiance, the Senate approved a $555 billion omnibus spending bill that removed legal requirements mandating the federal government fund 854 miles of a double layer border fence spanning America’s southwestern border... When the spending bill, which combines appropriations for a number of federal agencies, reached the Senate, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Tex.) attached S.Amdt. 2466 to the measure in order to silently gut the SFA’s spending requirement.

The Hutchison amendment reads, “Nothing in this paragraph shall require the Secretary of Homeland Security to install fencing, physical barriers, roads, lighting, cameras and sensors in a particular location along an international border of the United States, if the secretary determines that the use or placement of such resources is not the most appropriate means to achieve and maintain operational control over the international border at such location.” Thus, critics argue the amendment results in a de facto repeal of the SFA.

“The Hutchison amendment gives DHS virtually total discretion over how and where the fence is built,” commented Steve Elliott, president of Grassfire.org. “In fact, DHS would not be required to build fencing in any particular location -- and the double-layer mandate is totally gone.”

A recent Time Magazine poll found that:

...most Americans, 56 to 40 percent, want a border wall built along Mexico and America... all the way across. 62 percent of Americans want the military to guard the border. 51 percent want all illegals deported, and the border sealed...

And the desire for better border control transcends party: both Democrats and Republicans are united on this issue.

Beltway hacks like Kay Bailey Hutchison are more interested in pleasuring big business than listening to what the vast majority of Americans want. It's just one more nail in the coffin of so-called "representative government."

How does Hillary draw the line?

Would it be okay for you to break into an empty home because you wanted a nicer place to stay?

Would it be reasonable for you to break into a family's home because they had a spare bedroom and might be looking for a full-time nanny?

Would it be acceptable to crash a party at the Playboy mansion because Hef had plenty of extra food, drink and some really cute females?

Would it be fair to sneak into the local YMCA to work out because you didn't want the hassle of siging up and paying a membership fee?

Would it be justifiable to sneak onto a large corporate campus because they had advertised some jobs in the paper?

Would it be advisable to allow millions of non-citizens to enter the country without sanction, while paying for their health-care and use of public services?

* * *

I'm just wondering how that line gets drawn by folks like Hillary Clinton?

"Will Voter ID stop fraud or turn honest people away from polls?"

That was the headline for a syndicated Gannett column by Deborah Barfield Barry.

Choosing a 2008 presidential candidate might be confusing enough, but some voters will face an additional challenge next year — remembering to bring the right identification to the polls.

And it goes without saying that the Democrats and the ACLU -- but I repeat myself -- oppose laws that ensure the integrity of the polls.

Opponents of [voter ID] laws, including Democrats and the AARP, say the measures would suppress voter turnout among the elderly, poor and minorities who are less likely to have government-issued photo IDs... "It's another hurdle in the way of voters," said Neil Bradley of the Voting Rights Project at the American Civil Liberties Union.

It's also a hurdle in the way of vote fraud, which many Democrats appear to favor.

The accompanying illustration represents a 2006 Democratic brochure that encourages voting by immigrants of questionable legal status (I don't recognize the state in the picture. Is that Texico?).

Put simply, the only thing voter ID deters is fraud. Without identification, a person cannot apply for welfare, can't drive, can't fly, can't hold a job, can't have a bank account, can't apply for either social security, Medicare or Medicaid, and can't apply for food stamps or WIC.

So much for hurting the "elderly, poor and minorities."

To make their case, Gannett found a helpful person who claimed she'd been disenfranchised by the voter ID law in Indiana.

Kimyatta Tillman of Indianapolis said she didn't vote in elections in November because of Indiana's new ID law... Tillman, 32, doesn't have a driver's license and lost her birth certificate when she moved from Michigan to Kentucky and then to Indiana last year...

"I want to participate," Tillman said. "As a citizen of Indiana, I should have a voice too."

Interestingly, Google tells us that Tillman appears to be running a small business and therefore must have a bank account.

Last time I checked, a person must have some sort of valid, government-issued ID in order to open a bank account. Google, people, Google! Learn to use it, pro journalists!

Voter ID is a simple, pragmatic way to minimize fraudulent voting practices. And without it, the dead will walk again and vote Democratic, as they did recently in King County.

That Democrats oppose voter ID tells you all you need to know about their party.

Eliot ("I'm a f****ing steamroller") Spitzer gets flattened

Eliot ("I'm a f***ing steamroller") Spitzer was just pounded flatter than a tater-tot stashed under Michael Moore's mattress. The Washington Post reports that Spitzer has (ahem) reconsidered his plan to issue drivers licenses to illegal aliens ("Spitzer Drops License Plan, But Damage to Democrats is Done"):

After all the hoopla, N.Y. Gov. Eliot Spitzer is dropping his plan to provide driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. But the damage to the Democratic presidential candidates - and, overwhelmingly, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton - is done.

Clinton waffled on the question of whether she supported the Spitzer proposal during an Oct. 30 debate that has haunted her in the weeks since. In her answer that night, Clinton both defended and objected to the idea of giving permits to undocumented residents...

Word has it that Hillary's staffers were madder than hornets at Spitzer and forced his hand. Why? Because any issue where she is forced to explain her true position is certain to upset the vast majority of American people. And this issue can't be triangulated: it's either "Yes, I support drivers licenses for illegals" or "No, I don't."

These kinds of questions are the ones that Hillary despises because they force her to take a stand. And taking a stand is certain to result in the Queen Triangulator's defeat.

Real Men of Congress

Pork Lite presents... Real Men of Congress.

Real men of Con-gress...

Today we salute you, Senator Immigration Reform... Reformer...

Senator Immigration Reform... er... Reform-er...

Your DREAM Act rewards illegal immigrants and their kids with amnesty and in-state tuition if they can evade the police for five years...

Never mind that the rest of us will have to pay for their healthcare, social security, and government services 'til 2070...

It's only sixty-three years...

You casually ignore massively underfunded social security and Medicare programs...

While berating your opponents for failing to fund illegal immigrants' education, healthcare, and retirement...

It's for the children...

You passed a border fence law a year ago that authorized 900 miles of fencing...
