Papa B (who else) spotted this one:

Click at your own risk....the federal government could provide jobs by ... providing jobs. It’s time for at least a small-scale version of the New Deal’s Works Progress Administration, one that would offer relatively low-paying (but much better than nothing) public-service employment. There would be accusations that the government was creating make-work jobs, but the W.P.A. left many solid achievements in its wake. And the key point is that direct public employment can create a lot of jobs at relatively low cost. In a proposal to be released today, the Economic Policy Institute, a progressive think tank, argues that spending $40 billion a year for three years on public-service employment would create a million jobs, which sounds about right.
...this would cost money, probably several hundred billion dollars, and raise the budget deficit in the short run. But this has to be weighed against the high cost of inaction in the face of a social and economic emergency...
"My prediction is that politicians will eventually be tempted to resolve the [fiscal] crisis the way irresponsible governments usually do: by printing money, both to pay current bills and to inflate away debt. And as that temptation becomes obvious, interest rates will soar."
...A year and a half later [Krugman] was comparing the U.S. deficit with Argentina's (at a time when it was 4.5 percent of GDP). Has the economic situation really changed so drastically that now the same Krugman believes it was "deficits that saved us," and wants to see an even larger deficit next year? Perhaps...
...But it might just be that the party in power has changed.

Boston faces deep risk from sea level rise
Brace yourself Boston: Sea level rise from climate change could jeopardize Hub assets worth $463 billion.
If this is based on Al Gore's "cooked" data, then there is nothing to worry about.Get a clue Globo! The global warming thing's a hoax. Doesn't anyone at that rag read the papers?
Build Giant Sea walls like Denmark and London!
ClimateGate continues...let me guess, 50% tax on top of previously taxed income to help SAVE THE CITY FROM SINKING!!!
26 Inches in 20 years, uh-huh, ya right, based on what Empirical Data? I highly doubt the ocean has risen 26 Inches since the Pilgrims first landed in MA. More phoney-baloney Leftist Moondbat Pseudo-Science, another typical day for El Globo...
Yes! I'm getting waterfront property in Beacon Hill!
This would be interesting we didn't just learn that climate researchers have been engaged in massive fraud.
Wow- then all those overpriced condos really will be "underwater"!!!
Help us, Obama-wan Kenobi, you are our only hope!
We are not one with Planet.
Funny the Globe has not run a story about the global warming liars who have been caught trying to cover their rears. When will the Globe do an article on ClimateGate? A report from the WWF is hardly newsworthy, if not a complete fabrication. The Maldives rising sealevels have turned out to be another hoax.
This just in: Boston also faces a huge threat from bigfoot. I would think that the massive fraud uncovered at the leading climate change think tank would be a higher news priority than this. Not that the news is slanted or anything....
So can someone explain to me what happened to the glacier that covered Boston 19,000 years ago? Was that global warming caused by man? It made a glacier retreat over most of New England and Canada. 26 inches huh? How thick was the ice that covered the same region?
I love it - funnier than the onion!!!!!! The World Wildlife Fund... oh man, too funny, really. Good stuff, guys!
Quick ! Somebody blame Bush !!
That's why we have boats right? Where is Dennis Quade when you need him?
We have choices to make:
A. We could all move inland.
B. We could build levies like New Orleans has now.
C. We could hire Moses to hold back the water.
D. We could all go back to the stone age, pre-fire.
E. We could forget that we read this article and go back to living normally.
Take your pick!
We need a topo map with the to-be-submerged areas marked for this to be useful information.
Does this mean we don't have to fund the Convention Center expansion?
This is horrible. I'm seeing scientific evidence of this already. I was at the coast in the morning, and by early afternoon the seas had risen quit a bit. But then later that night I saw they had receded. So I don't know what to think. Please Globe, or Al Gore, or some other neutral source of scientific data - tell me what to think.
Mitchell at Bombs and Dollars has published his own ranking of the conservative blogosphere. Proud though it makes me, his methodology needs a bit of fine-tuning, as we turn up ahead of American Thinker, Campaign Spot, Dan Riehl, Gateway Pundit and a host of other big leaguers.
The motorcade of Vice President "Slow" Joe Biden was involved in its second accident in recent weeks. A cab driver and two police officers assigned to Biden's security detail were hurt in the accident.
By my count, Biden has now killed or wounded four times the number of individuals that Dick Cheney hurt in his shotgun mishap.
Yesterday the 'U.S. Preventative Services Task Force' issued new guidelines regarding the age at which women should begin having mammograms. At the Brown Cancer Center, Dr. Lane Roland said if the recommendations are adopted by the public and physicians, it will result in the loss of lives... The government task force making the recommendations consisted of 16 government-funded physicians and scientists. None was an expert on breast cancer detection and prevention.
Drugs as good as stents for many heart patients: last year, MSNBC and other news outlets reported that angioplasties were likely overrated, claiming "there's more evidence drugs should be tried first and often are just as effective."
Apparently, CNN's poll of almost all Democrats believe Governor Sarah Palin is not qualified to save or create non-existent jobs; fail to make important military decisions; destroy the value of the dollar; spike unemployment; create massive new entitlement programs and enact oppressive new taxes on Americans.Days after announcing another huge layoff, Al Gore's Current TV referred to former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as a "Gun-Ho" and a "TWILF."These disgraceful, sexually-charged epithets were part of an attack on prominent conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, and came in the form of a cartoon ironically titled "The Stupid Virus"...
In the end, this was just a lot of conservative bashing in very bad taste, especially the shot of Palin's Twitter page and her astonishingly offensive screen name "Gun-Ho".
As for "bad news for everybody else," Palin is obviously "bad news" that people are hungry for. Palin’s book is going bonkers on the bestseller list and is proving to be one of the best stimulus programs the book industry has had in a good while — and Newsweek’s subscription rate is falling and they’re laying off employees by the dozen. The only immediate “bad news” is for Newsweek — and when they do gratuitiously negative pieces on a figure who is looked up to by a demographic that spends a fortune on books… not to mention magazines, Newsweek’s death spiral makes all the more sense. This is why the mainstream newspaper business is dying too — you simply can’t dismiss a huge slice of the news consuming public with your bias without ultimately suffering economically.

When confronted with the question of whether the U.S. did the right thing in bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki, his response was "stumbling and ill-prepared." One need only watch the video to appreciate how pathetic his performance was, not to mention the fact that he -- once again -- refused to stick up for his own country.FBI: Religion, ideology furthest thing from the guy's mind.
FORT HOOD, Texas - As authorities dig deeper into the possible motives behind the Ft. Hood massacre, a picture is emerging of a garden-variety US soldier who found the conflict between his desire to serve his country and the natural fear of combat just too hard to reconcile, causing him to snap. Investigators are now discounting earlier, unconfirmed, reports of 85 eyewitnesses who said they heard Major Nidal Malik Hasan cry "Allahu Akbar!" before going on his shooting rampage, killing thirteen and wounding 30 more. They now believe Hasan, an atheist of Iranian-Jewish descent, was actually shouting "Oy Vey Halvah," and amid the ensuing panic and confusion the phrase was misinterpreted by scores of combat-ready soldiers. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow quotes the FBI agent in charge of the inquiry, Ahmed Faisal, as saying, "we are now confident that Hasan's faith played absolutely no ole in his state of mind leading up to this tragedy. End of subject." Off camera, Maddow, not realizing her mic was on, was heard telling colleague Chris Mathews, "see, what [the] hell did I tell you?"
Asked for his comments on the FBI's findings, President - wait for it - Barack Hussein Obama told reporters, "see, what [the] hell did I tell you?"
In the front of the protest, a sign showed President Obama in white coat, his face painted to look like the Joker. The sign, visible to the lawmakers as they looked into the cameras, carried a plea to "Stop Obamunism." A few steps farther was the guy holding a sign announcing "Obama takes his orders from the Rothchilds" [sic], accusing Obama of being part of a Jewish plot to introduce the antichrist.
But the best of Bachmann's recruits were a few rows into the crowd, holding aloft a pair of 5-by-8-foot banners proclaiming "National Socialist Healthcare, Dachau, Germany, 1945." Both banners showed close-up photographs of Holocaust victims, many of them children....
"Who knew a casual comment on TV could generate this?" Rep. Jeb Hensarling (Tex.) exulted as he stood in front of the Dachau banner.
Now, objecting to the health-care bill is one thing. But doesn't it send the wrong message for House Republicans to hold an event on the Capitol grounds full of hateful and gruesome words and images?
And Milbank's selective memory is appalling.

BARACK AND KATE PLUS EIGHTDC station airs demo of bare breast self-exams
WASHINGTON – The ABC affiliate here is airing a two-part [Tim: two-part -- get it??] series that takes a close — and unobscured — look at breast self-exams. The series is airing during the fall "sweeps" period critical for a TV station's ad revenue, prompting concern by a parental watchdog group. But WJLA insists it's not just a naked attempt to boost the ratings.
The two segments include clinical demonstrations of self-exams, and the breasts of the two volunteers are not blurred. They were to air during the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts Thursday and Friday.
WJLA officials said the segments are providing an important service because many women don't know how to properly check their breasts...

Their gang uses the joint as a clearinghouse for its black-market operations: cigarettes, liquor, food and clothing are acquired on credit -- ostensibly for the bar -- and then sold at 100% profit margins. Hill describes the scene:As soon as the deliveries are made in the front door, you move the stuff out the back and sell it at a discount. You take a two hundred dollar case of booze and sell it for a hundred. It doesn't matter. It's all profit.
Unable to make payments, the gang executes the traditional "bust out".And, finally, when there's nothing left, when you can't borrow another buck from the bank or buy another case of booze, you bust the joint out.
AIG was the infamous insurance conglomerate that sold every type of insurance product imaginable, most notably insurance on financial instruments. These included the ill-fated credit default swaps (CDS), the unregulated insurance contracts that nuked AIG last year.
Maurice "Ace" Greenberg ran AIG before it imploded. Ace led AIG's dramatic expansion of its CDS business. Ace left a handful of months before the calamitous collapse having made hundreds of millions of dollars.By setting up a new shop, Mr. Greenberg is basically cloning AIG, while leaving behind the empty bankrupt shell of AIG to the hands of the suckers who bailed it out — namely, the government, and ultimately, the people. In other words, Mr. Greenberg will wind up with a new AIG sans the insolvency, sans the government oversight (minimal though it is), sans the "bad reputation" of AIG, and on top of that, he will keep all the money he made off the CDS that AIG underwrote.
It could even happen that, if and when this new Cloned-AIG goes broke again on credit default swaps or some other clever bit of financial engineering, Mr. Greenberg will again leave it to its fate just before it bankrupts. After all, life is a wheel, endlessly repeating...
