Leftist media breathlessly hawks single whacko Palin fan; ignores terrorists who actually bombed innocents, killed cops and launched Obama's career

Leave it to the crackpots on the left to scream the news at the top of their lungs: some dude who liked Sarah Palin stockpiled weapons.

The Massachusetts man charged this week with stockpiling weapons after saying he feared an imminent "Armageddon" appears to have been active in the Tea Party movement, and saw Sarah Palin, who he said is on a "righteous 'Mission from God,'" as the only figure capable of averting the destruction of society.

Interestingly, the same propagandists somehow missed the news that Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Jeffrey Jones, Mike Klonsky and a bevy of other radicals helped launch Barack Obama's career and/or offered their unconditional support for his campaign.

These leaders of the SDS and the Weather Underground remain unapologetic terrorists whose group is responsible for the murders of at least three police officers.

An eyewitness to one of the Weather Underground bombings, retired San Francisco police officer James Pera, described a catastrophic scene. "...Blood was all over the floor, desks and walls and was heaviest where Sergeant Brian V. McDonnell suffered mortal wounds to his neck, eyes, face and brain... The [police] station looked like a scene one might expect to see in a war, with wounded officers, blood, shattered windows, damaged walls, floors and ceilings, but then -- it was a war..."

"...the sergeant died a couple of days later, without regaining consciousness. He left a wife and two kids. He was forty-five years old, his life snuffed out by the murderous cowards of the Weather Underground... Think about the tragedy that befell the McDonnell family, a family that had already lost two other members, in the line of duty, the first in the 1930s and another in the 1950s... Think of Sgt. McDonnell, his life stolen from him, at the age of 45, and his wife and children being left without a father and husband..."

"Think about these two criminals, Ayers and Dohrn, who got off on technicalities because a judge ruled that evidence against them collected by the FBI was inadmissible... Think about Ayers' statement, after the dismissal of criminal charges, when he said, 'Guilty as hell and free as a bird.' ...Think about Ayers and Dohrn and their positions, as educators, at two different prestigious universities, the University of Illinois at Chicago and Northwestern University..."

"...Think of how they have access to the minds of impressionable young students, in the controlled environment of academia, free to spread the radical ideas that they espouse, some of which were developed and nurtured on trips to Cuba and in consultation with agents from other communist countries. Think about the role that they play as they endeavor to corrupt a whole new generation of young, impressionable people, to their radical Marxist ideas... ...Think about how Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn and others of their ilk have lived and prospered in our society, a society that they had hoped to destroy..."

To illustrate just how twisted the Leftist media is, consider their silence over the terrorists who befriended Obama and helped launch his career. Then compare and contrast that protection to their treatment of Sarah Palin.

It's enough to make you sick.

Time Magazine: Uproarious Laughter Forces Headline Change as Ice Age Threatens the Magazine's Global Warming Agitprop

Time Magazine sported its Statist regalia earlier today with a truly funny article entitled "Snowstorm: East Coast Blizzard Tied to Climate Change".

After the laughter subsided, visitors to its website noticed that the headline had changed to "Another Blizzard: What Happened to Global Warming?.

I emailed Time with a suggestion for a new headline -- "Serial Blizzards That Resemble a New Ice Age Prove Global Warming Is Real" -- but have not yet heard back.

In all seriousness, the text of the article is something out of a rejected SNL skit: it's just too preposterous. Some of my favorite quotes?

• "There is some evidence that climate change could in fact make such massive snowstorms more common, even as the world continues to warm." And there's also evidence that eating five bags of pork rinds a day could cause you to lose weight, but I can't quite prove that yet.

• "While the frequency of storms in the middle latitudes has decreased as the climate has warmed, the intensity of those storms has increased. That's in part because of global warming — hotter air can hold more moisture..." And stupid people can hold more crap, but I digress.

• "But as far as winter storms go, shouldn't climate change make it too warm for snow to fall? Eventually that is likely to happen — but probably not for a while." Or at least not until we've passed Cap-and-Trade and the new Lightbulb Bill.

• "As global temperatures have risen, the winter ice cover over the Great Lakes has shrunk, which has led to even more moisture in the atmosphere and more snow in the already hard-hit Great Lakes region." See, it's easy to follow: warming has shrunk ice cover in that region while greatly increasing the snow cover!

No mention of ClimateGate. No mention of missing weather stations. No mention of corrupted or intentionally destroyed data. No mention of the glaciers that were supposed to melt next week.

Just the Democrat-Statist talking points, recited to an audience that's disappearing faster than a gallon of ice cream in front of Michael Moore's pie hole.

Time Magazine thinks its readers are really, really dumb. Perhaps the few that remain are truly stupid. But I kinda doubt it. They'd be working for Time if they were that dumb.

The Sublime, Timeless Wisdom of Arianna Huffington Somehow Reduced to Ashes By Anonymous Commenter at Green Room

A bruising retort to Arianna Huffington ("Laissez-Faire Capitalism Should Be as Dead as Soviet Communism") appeared in a comment at Hot Air's Green Room. Suffice it to say that Arianna loses the debate with our anonymous commenter -- badly.

The free market did not cause this crisis, the government did.

The free market did not create Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae and Sallie Mae, the government did.

The free market did not pass laws that forced banks to lend to those who do not qualify for a loan, the government did.

The free market did not take us off the gold standard, the government did.

The free market did not dump trillions of dollars of cheap money into the system causing the largest asset bubble in history, the government did.

The free market did not create multiple multi-trillion-dollar unfunded entitlement programs, the government did.

The free market did not write a 60,000+ page tax code that punishes work, rewards sloth and buys the votes of special interest groups, the government did.

The free market did not destroy public schools with forced unionization of teachers and a systematic failure to teach generations of students civics and financial literacy, the government did.

The free market did not drive our jobs overseas and kill our entrepreneurial spirit with over-taxation, over-regulation and frivolous lawsuits, the government did.

The free market did not ban drilling for oil, vilify coal and block the building of nuclear power plants in the United States, thereby transferring hundred of billions of dollars of American wealth and many thousands of energy-industry jobs to foreign countries, the government did.

This crisis is the result of a giant social engineering experiment and vote-buying scheme gone tragically wrong.

The free market does not try to engineer society or buy votes, the government does.

The government caused this crisis, the free market did not.

The government cannot fix the crisis, the free market can.

Word.

Only the free market can.

CBS News Poll Left Running Since January 19th; President Currently Trails Ivan the Terrible and Idi Amin for First-Year Performance

CBS News has had a poll running since January 19th asking visitors to rate the President's first year. The results have to be a bit discomfiting for Meyer Lansky (aka David Axelrod) and Al Capone (aka Rahm Emanuel) since one would assume that CBS is friendly ground.

In short, 87% of respondents give the President a failing grade.

That's gotta be a record.

Death Camps? What Death Camps?

Dan from New York:

The tradition continues! America's fish wrap of record brings us the sunny news that a nuclear Iran will be good for the USA!

What a relief. Let's party like it's 1939!

P.S. Anyone know where the Times finds these morons? Or do these morons find the Times?

Either way, Dan, the Times has established a proud tradition of engaging the most sophisticated morons this side of Brandeis.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled broadcast...

Because he hasn't talked at the American people enough, President Obama is scheduled to interrupt our Super Bowl celebration in a matter of moments.

Given the President's media exposure, perhaps I should state it this way: we interrupt this Presidential sermon for the Super Bowl.

Who was that character you couldn't escape in Orwell's 1984?

You know, I forgot Chris Matthews was an alcoholic tonight for an hour

Until reminded by NewsBusters that Matthews had beclowned himself for the umpteenth time.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: You know, I was trying to think about who he was tonight, and it's interesting: He is post-racial by all appearances. You know, I forgot he was black tonight for an hour. You know, he's gone a long way to become a leader of this country and passed so much history in just a year or two. I mean, it's something we don't even think about. I was watching, I said, "Wait a minute. He's an African-American guy in front of a bunch of other white people, and there he is, President of the United States, and we've completely forgotten that tonight. Completely forgotten it."

Like most Americans, I'd also forgotten Matthews was even on TV, since his show gets lower ratings than the laundromat's tumble-dry setting.

Obama's one true SOTU statement: "We face a deficit of trust." He forgot, "We also face a surplus of talk -- and of government."

President Obama's performance last night was historic: for all the wrong reasons. No State of the Union address was as petty, venal and fraudulent as this one. The reaction from the legal community and even the mainstream media was almost universally negative:

Michael Gerson of The Washington Post, not exactly a mouthpiece for the Tea Party movement, was disgusted: "After a series of political humiliations, Obama called on Republicans to change their course. Facing a general revolt against Washington, he proudly took credit for posting the names of White House visitors online. Promising to change the tone in Washington, he managed to be petty, backward looking, defiant and self-justifying... [he] has lost his promise. He has lost his momentum. He has lost his touch. He has lost his filibuster-proof Senate majority. He has lost his first year in office. ...Tonight, he lost his grip on reality."

Randy Barnett -- a Professor of Law at Georgetown, writing at Politico -- blistered the President's speech: "In the history of the State of the Union has any President ever called out the Supreme Court by name, and egged on the Congress to jeer a Supreme Court decision, while the Justices were seated politely before him surrounded by hundreds Congressmen? To call upon the Congress to countermand (somehow) by statute a constitutional decision, indeed a decision applying the First Amendment? ...this was a truly shocking lack of decorum and disrespect towards the Supreme Court for which an apology is in order. A new tone indeed."

Bradley Smith, a Professor of Law at Capital University, leveled withering criticism at the President's behavior: "...[his] statement is false. The Court held that [McCain-Feingold], which prohibits all corporate political spending, is unconstitutional. Foreign nationals, [including] corporations, are prohibit[ed] from making [contributions,] which was not at issue in the case... This is either blithering ignorance of the law or demagoguery of the worst kind."

Bernie Becker of The New York Times mildly chastised Obama: "There may not have been a “You Lie” at this address, but it does seem like there was a 'Not True.' ...Those looked to be the words mouthed by Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. after Mr. Obama criticized the high court’s recent Citizens United decision. And, according to both The Times’s David D. Kirkpatrick and Linda Greenhouse, Mr. Obama’s take on the case was not quite spot on."

David Lat, writing at Above the Law, "...I agree that it was a bit — well, tacky — for Obama to call out the Court like that, and to make them sit there like chastened schoolchildren while everyone around them stood and applauded."

Politifact, the Pulitzer Prize-winning political assessment website, said Obama was exaggerating: "Based on our reading of the court's opinion and interviews with campaign law experts, we find that Obama has overstated the ruling's immediate impact on foreign companies' ability to spend unlimited money in U.S. political campaigns. While such an outcome may be possible, the majority opinion specifically said it wasn't addressing that point, and only further litigation would settle the matter once and for all. So we find Obama's claim to be Barely True."

Joel Achenbach of The Washington Post believes this was not a wise fight for Obama to pick: "[His] decision to take on the Supreme Court's recent campaign-finance ruling, and to do right in the face of the justices in the front row, has certainly succeeded in making a splash... I'm just not sure that's the pool that Obama wanted to jump in... Strategic error, says here."

Jazz Shaw of "The Moderate Voice" was somewhat shocked: "This was a rather stunning conclusion coming from a President who was supposed to have taught constitutional law. I’m not sure which is worse… the idea that Obama is intentionally lying about the court decision to score political points or that neither he nor any of his advisers and speech writers understand the court ruling. In any event, when you wake up today and see a number of left leaning writers running around with their hair on fire over Alito’s reaction, just keep the above facts in mind. Alito silently remarked that Obama was 'wrong' on the facts. And he was. Totally wrong, as it turns out."

* * *

Coming from the party that openly attempts to grant amnesty to illegal aliens and continually reaches for "one world" government treaties, the "foreign influence" straw-man raised by Obama is laughable.

Not to mention classless.

Scenes from the Apple iPad Launch

GDGT's live coverage of Apple's iPad launch was the best I found. Some of the highlights of the introduction:

Steve’s showing it. “It’s very thin. You can change the home screen… what this device does is extraordinary. It’s the best browsing experience you’ve ever had.”

“You can see the whole page in front of you and you can manipulate it with your fingers. You can turn it any way you want — it adjusts however you want it. You can see the whole page — it’s phenomenal. It’s an incredible experience.”

“iPad is an awesome way to enjoy your music collection. And, of course, we have the iTunes store built right into the iPad... "

"Flick through them, it’s a wonderful way to share your photos. Built in a calendar. Address book, great maps app with Google Maps.”

Email with a giant on-screen keyboard: “It’s a dream to type on.”

“That’s a little overview, but there’s nothing like seeing it, so I’d like to show you now. Using this thing is remarkable — it’s so much more intimate than a laptop, and it’s so much more capable than a smartphone.”

Showing movies and TV shows. Widescreen looks a little awkward because the screen is more square than widescreen, but it’s still damned fine.

“Let’s pick another movie I love: Up.” chuckles. “Awesome movie.”

“It’s 0.5-inches thin, weighs just 1.5 pounds. Thinner and lighter than any netbook. 9.7-inch IPS display.”

“As you know, Apple builds the best capacitive multi-touch sensors in the world — married to our great display, it’s super responsive and super precise.”

“iPad is powered by our own custom silicon. Our own chip. It’s called the A4, and it screams.” 1GHz. 16, 32, or 64GB of flash storage. “It’s got the latest in wireless: 802.11n, WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.”

“All the usual suspects: accelerometer, compass, speaker, mic, dock connector. And it’s got battery.”

“What’s the battery life on this remarkable device?” Pauses. “We’ve been able to achieve 10 hours of battery life.” Big applause.

“Isn’t that awesome, these guys only had a couple weeks to work on this stuff. People are going to go crazy. Let me show you another one of our apps we’re excited about. It’s an e-book reader.”

Our new app is called iBooks. “Amazon’s done a great job of pioneering this functionality with the Kindle. We’re going to stand on their shoulders and go a little further.”

10:58AM - Browse TOC, change the font or the font size, all the standard stuff. “And that is iBooks.” Big applause. “We use the ePub format, the most popular open book format in the world, and I’m very excited about this. We think the iPad is going to make a terrific e-book reader not just for popular books, but for textbooks as well.”

Now, something very exciting: iWork.”

11:17AM - Steve’s in review mode: “Email is fantastic. Great for enjoying your music collection. Video is phenomenal. It runs almost all of the 140k apps on the App Store as well as a whole new generation of apps designed specifically for the iPad. And the new iBooks application with the iBooks Store. And the iWork suite of apps.”

11:17AM - “What should we price it at?” Chuckles.

11:18AM - “If you listen to the pundits, we’re going to price at under $1k, which is code for $999. When we set out to develop the iPad, we not only had very ambitious technical goals and user interface goals, but we had a very aggressive price for it.”

11:18AM - “We want to put this in the hands of LOTS of people. Just like we were able to meet or exceed our technical goals, we’ve met our cost goals.”

“I’m thrilled to announce to you that the iPad pricing starts not at $999, but at $499.” Huge applause.

“We will be shipping iPads in 60 days.”

11:20AM - “So $499 / 629, 599 / 729, and 699 / 829.”

11:19AM - Cheering! “At $499 a lot of people can afford an iPad. 16GB is our base model. For 32GB it’s $100 more, and for $100 more than that you get $64GB. The 3G models cost another $130.”

This device is a flat-out winner.
