The Towering Financial Acumen of the Left -- Spittled-laced Balloon Juice insists Rich Must Get Poorer to Make Things Gooder

Like clockwork, the Obama sycophants in legacy media publish the same, tired story they run every year about this time.

The gap between the wealthiest Americans and middle- and working-class Americans has more than tripled in the past three decades, according to a June 25 report by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

New data show that the gaps in after-tax income between the richest 1 percent of Americans and the middle and poorest parts of the population in 2007 was the highest it’s been in 80 years, while the share of income going to the middle one-fifth of Americans shrank to its lowest level ever.

The CBPP report attributes the widening of this gap partly to Bush Administration tax cuts, which primarily benefited the wealthy...

[Ed: Gee, that's a unique theme]

Of the $1.7 trillion in tax cuts taxpayers received through 2008, high-income households received by far the largest — not only in amount but also as a percentage of income — which shifted the concentration of after-tax income toward the top of the spectrum.

And the economic illiterates running the socialist blogs -- like John Cole at Balloon Juice -- insist that the rich get poorer. Because that way, they'll hire fewer people, quit plowing money into startups and capital investments, and otherwise stimulate the economy.

In all seriousness, what I do not understand is why don’t people realize this is unsustainable? How do people expect the economy to grow when 3/4 ofthe [sic] nation is too broke to buy anything?

Considering 20% of the country is either unemployed or under-employed, perhaps jobs might help.

Gee, I wonder who creates jobs? Would that be the entrepreneurs, wealthy investors, risk-taking business owners -- all of whom, by definition, must have capital to spare in order to freaking hire people? You know, these leftists are so damn dumb I'm astounded they're able to survive driving to the grocery store.

Consider the following two gentlemen, two of the detestable wealthy contributing to this awful disparity -- since they possess tens of billions of dollars between them.

The Incredible Wealth of Page and Brin

Eleven years ago, Larry Page and Sergey Brin were students at Stanford. They were then members of Obama's oppressed "poor".

Just nine years later, Page and Brin were worth a combined $36 billion as the founders of Google.

What the Left's economic illiterates can't or won't understand is that wealth disparity is wonderful. It allowed Page and Brin to create, achieve, construct a company from whole cloth, employ thousands and produce hundreds of other millionaires.

Now, of course, they're among the vile rich.

Take more money from the business owners, you get less venture capital, less investment, less business growth and -- ultimately -- more malaise.

Gee, Johnny, that's not too hard to understand, is it?

You see, what's important is not wealth disparity, it's the ability to move between economic classes that makes America unique. Of the top ten wealthiest members of the Forbes 400, six are self-made billionaires.

But, gee, they made too much money, hired far too many people, and contributed way too much to the advancement of society.

Perhaps one day Johnny Cole can take an econ class, so he can figure out all of this incredibly difficult stuff. In the mean time, weep for the poor drones and lemmings who read -- and believe -- this brand of runny excrement.

Feds Shut Down Journalist Access to Spill--Unions, CNN Hardest Hit

AFTRA -- the union of television and radio professionals -- is up in arms over the unprecedented news blackout in the Gulf.

As an affiliate of the AFL-CIO, its defection from the Obama-union duopoly is noteworthy. It represents another mini-rebellion of sorts as increasing numbers of union members are directly harmed by the actions of an administration with only its own interests at heart.

If you're a journalist impacted by the blackout, AFTRA wants to hear from you.

Although I didn't have to look hard to find a case where a journalist was unable to view damage from the spill. Anderson Cooper, for one, cut loose on the White House for its unprecedented behavior in suppressing news stories.

[The federal government announced] a new rule... today backed by the force of law and the threat of fines and felony charges, a rule that will prevent reporters and photographers and anyone else from getting anywhere close to booms and oil-soaked wildlife and just about any place we need to be.

[This comes]...despite what Admiral Thad Allen promised about transparency just nearly a month ago. Here is what he said back then.

...Shots of oil on beaches with booms, stay 65 feet away. Pictures of oil-soaked booms uselessly laying in the water because they haven't been collected like they should, you can't get close enough to see that. And, believe me, that is out there.

But you only know that if you get close to it, and now you can't without permission. Violators could face a fine of $40,000 and Class D felony charges.

We're not the enemy here. Those of us down here trying to accurately show what's happening, we are not the enemy. I have not heard about any journalists who has disrupted relief efforts... We found out today two public journalists reporting on health issues say they have been blocked again and again from visiting a federal mobile medical unit in Venice, a trailer where cleanup workers are being treated. It's known locally as the BP compound... We are not the enemy here.

Yes, you are the enemy here, Mr. Cooper.

You see, the President is -- first, second and always -- concerned with his image.

It took him months to make up his mind about troop levels in Afghanistan but fired Gen. Stanley McChrystal in less than a day after the Rolling Stone reported unflattering remarks by the general's staff.

The president talks about himself endlessly in speeches.

Fox News, Sean Hannity and talk radio, among other critics, were repeatedly singled out by Obama before, during and after his election.

His personal logo is stamped on all of his fund-raising material; and he has his own political action wing -- Organizing For America -- that does not appear to be under the control of the Democrat party.

James Lewis characterizes Obama as "a malignant narcissist", the characteristics for which include:

• "Common to malignant narcissism is narcissistic rage. Narcissistic rage is a reaction to narcissistic injury (when the narcissist feels degraded by another person, typically in the form of criticism)."

• "When the narcissist's grandiose sense of self-worth is perceived as being attacked by another person, the narcissist's natural reaction is to rage and pull down the self-worth of others (to make the narcissist feel superior to others). It is an attempt by the narcissist to soothe their internal pain and hostility, while at the same time rebuilding their self worth."

Mark Levin believes that President Obama thinks and acts like a dictator. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive.

Obama's narcissism manifests itself with a maniacal focus on his goals, irrespective of history, facts, logic and reason. A simple example: his tireless efforts to jam socialized medicine down the American people's throats. Adding a new entitlement program when the country can't afford it's existing entitlements? Solvency is of no concern to Obama.

Anderson Cooper and AFTRA are livid with this administration because of the media blackout. But these dictatorial measures were easy to predict.

If there's one thing this President hates -- even more than capitalism, private property and individual liberty -- it's criticism. Watch out, Democrat journalists. First they came for Fox News...

Thomas Friedman: a Crazed Sex Poodle Pining for China's Government Here in the United States

Thomas Friedman can't stop talking about the magnificence of the government of the People's Republic of China. Pity he hasn't moved yet.

Last year the New York Times’s Thomas Friedman, lamenting the political paralysis that was hindering the Obama administration’s legislative agenda, made this remarkable comparison: 'One-party autocracy certainly has its drawbacks. But when it is led by a reasonably enlightened group of people, as China is today, it can also have great advantages. That one party can just impose the politically difficult but critically important policies needed to move a society forward in the 21st century.'

Last month on Meet the Press, Friedman warmed to his theme: “I have fantasized—don’t get me wrong—but that what if we could just be China for a day? I mean, just, just, just one day,” he said. “You know, I mean, where we could actually, you know, authorize the right solutions … on everything from the economy to environment.”

Tommy's the best the Times can muster -- and his recommendation is as follows: Let's ignore thousands of years of brutal experience and the counsel of Polybius, Plato, Aristotle, Montesquieu, Locke, Jefferson, Adams and Madison, and follow instead the model of China's dictators.

Okay, Tommy Boy, let's check out the news from inside the PRC:

[In December], Wuhan City organized over 800 law enforcement officers to forcefully demolish nearly 40,000 square meters of illegal buildings that are near the Wuhan City to Huangshi City railway construction site. The phenomenon of local famers rushing to “grow houses” is very common.

Protesting the forceful demolition, a farmer woman was blocked out by hundreds Chengguan (city management) from her illegally built building.

...Experts pointed out that farmers “grow houses” are directly motivated by profits, however a deeper reason was because they fear for their lives after losing their land to the government project. In order to stop the root of the “growing houses” problem, the government should make efforts to find employment opportunities for the farmers and include them into the new city lives.

Well maybe that's just a fluke, because Thomas Friedman is oh-so-very knowledgeable about China's despots!

The case of Nail household is a common occurrence in China, however this incident is by far the most escalated conflict between residents and the government demolition team. Ms. Fan attempted to defend her house from the demolition squad by throwing home-made fire bombs…

Today, Ms. Fan’s house in Minghang district was to be forcefully demolished, Ms. Fan standing on the 3rd floor threw home-made fire bombs (at the demolition squad)... Upon seeing this news, I am pleased that after two decades of development, society has progressed. Sub-machine guns are replaced by high-pressured water gun. Then why would it lead to such brutal resistance? Because of the large-scaled building project of Hongqiao, Ms. Fan had an area 480 square meter home, but the government is only willing to offer the compensation of 670,000 yuan, which is 761 yuan per square meter of housing subsidies and 1,480 yuan for the compensation of the land.

When the city’s average commercial housing is measured by tens of thousands (per square meter), forced eviction’s price is still calculated with the hundreds, this is the reason why residents threw fire-bombs. That is, they were living in a 480 square meter home, you acquired their land for so called construction, that’s also business, your compensation for the family only is enough to buy a 40 square meters home, and then the demolitions team came. I think anyone who had weapons probably could not help themselves but to take them out in this situation.

But that kind of brutal repression must be an outlier sort of situation... because Thomas Friedman thinks tyrants are cool!

“Ten thousand girls go to Lingnan (South of the Five Ridges – the area covering Guangdong and Guangxi), millions of whoremasters go down to Dongguan”, this is an up and coming popular phrase and also depicts an image of how prosperous Dongguan is...

Prosperity is people’s first impression of Dongguan – in the past 30 years, Dongguan’s economy was developing at an unbelievably fast pace... As famous as its prosperity is the city’s sex industry...

Dongguan’s Tourism Bureau released data from the first half of this year showed that the city had a total of 96 hotels of various stars. In the past year, the financial crisis ruined Dongguan’s export-oriented economy. However in Houjie, this famous town in Dongguan, even in the middle of the night, there are young girls who are dressed sexily on the street. They wear short skirts, black stockings, high heels, carry a small handbag and hold a cigarette in their hands. Their faces are covered with heavy make-up, and they do not seem to mind the chilly night.

As for Friedman's desire for a command-and-control approach to the climate "problem"? Yes, sir, that's a compelling proposition.

Hebei Province Shexian Tianjin Iron and steel plant (河北省涉县天津钢铁厂) is a heavily polluting company. Company scale is still growing, seriously affecting the lives of local residents. Thomas Friedman Approved!

Guiyu, Guangdong province, (广东省贵屿镇) rivers and reservoirs have been contaminated, the villager is washing in a seriously polluted pond. Thomas Friedman Approved!

In the Yellow Sea coastline, countless sewage pipes buried in the beach and even extending into the deep sea. Thomas Friedman Approved!

In Inner Mongolia there were 2 “black dragons” from the Lasengmiao Power Plant (内蒙古拉僧庙发电厂) covering the nearby villages. Thomas Friedman Approved!

There are over 100 chemical plants in Jiangsu province coastal industry district. (江苏滨海头罾沿海化工园区) Some of them discharge wastewater into the ocean; some heavily contaminated sewage is stored in 5 “Sewage Temporary Pools”. During the 2 high tides in every month, the sewage then gets discharged into the ocean with the tides. TFA!

Anhui Province Cihu Chemical Industry District (安徽省慈湖化工园区) built a underground pipe to discharge wastewater into the Yangtze River. The wastewater sometimes is black, gray, dark red, or yellow, wastewater from different chemical factories has different colors. TFA!

Shanxi Province is the most polluted areas of China. It is also the province with the highest rate of birth defects. This loving farmer couple adopted 17 disabled children. TFA!

Villagers from Kang village in Linfen City, Shanxi Province (山西省临汾市下康村) due to long-term consumption of the polluted water contaminated by industrial waste, there were 50 people who have cancer and cerebral thrombosis. 64-year-old Wang Baosheng got ill since 2003, he has fester all over his body so he cannot go to bed and lying face down on the edge of the bed each day. TFA!

Zhaozhuang village by the Hong River in Wugang City, Henan province (洪河边的河南省西平县张于庄村), Gao Wanshun’s (高万顺) wife died of cancer. Now he lives in poverty. TFA!

In Shanxi Province there are a lot of charitable nursing homes, to help disabled infants abandoned by their parents. TFA!

The oldest is 9, not going to school. The youngest is less than 2 years old. They lived in severely polluted area. They hands and faces were always dirty. TFA!

Every year, a lot of deficiency babies in Shanxi Province were abandoned. Kong Zhenlan (孔贞兰) in Qi town (祁县) who was making a living by recycling trash adopted 25 abandoned children. TFA!

Xuanwei (宣威) in Yunnan province is a cancer village. Every year there are more than 20 people die of cancer. 11-year-old student Xu Li (徐丽) is suffering from bone cancer.

The world is flat? No, Thomas Friedman's world-view is seriously f-ed up.

Markos Moulitsas reveals his popular Daily Kos website has been 100% satire for the last 18 months

Markos Moulitsas, the founder of the popular Daily Kos website, yesterday stunned the blogosphere by revealing that virtually all of the material published over the last 18 months was satirical, not factual, in nature.

I have just published a report by three statistics wizards showing, quite convincingly, that all of the material we ran the past year and a half was likely bunk.

It's true. Thousands of years of human experience show quite convincingly that modern progressives are socialist retreads. Facts, logic and reason demonstrate beyond a shadow of a doubt that the liberals' big government-slash-socialist agenda inevitably leads to the destruction of societies.

Kos continued:

Quite some time ago, we embarked on a secret project to revamp the content of the Daily Kos website. We intended to -- and have succeeded beyond our wildest dreams -- in replacing The Onion as the thinking man's humor portal.

If you Google "hilarious political satire", we're definitely on the first page of results along with JibJab and the entire New York Times editorial board.

And next year we will release our first motion picture, modeled after the National Lampoon Vacation series of films. Look for Kos Goes to College and Learns to Write Good in theaters mid-third-and-a-half-quarter 2011.

Kos also noted that "Premium Banner" sponsorships of the movie are still available but are selling fast.

Gee, What a Surprise: Under Oath, Union Official Says Obama Lied About Blago Contacts

Sitting down? I don't want to catch you off guard, but a powerful Democrat union boss said that President-elect Obama lied about not having contact with disgraced Governor Rod Blagojevich about his vacated Senate seat.

Top union leader Thomas Balanoff said he was at dinner the night before the November Presidential election when he got a call that was blocked... So he didn't take it.

Later he listened to his messages: "I walked outside, listened to it and it was from President Obama," Balanoff said.

"Tom, this is Barack, give me a call," the soon-to-be President-Elect said on the message... After Balanoff sent word through an Obama aide to call him back, Obama returned his call later that night.

"Tom, I want to talk to you with regard to the Senate seat," Obama told him... Balanoff said Obama said he had two criteria: someone who was good for the citizens of Illinois and could be elected in 2010.

Obama said he wasn't publicly coming out in support of anyone but he believed Valerie Jarrett would fit the bill.

"I would much prefer she (remain in the White House) but she does want to be Senator and she does meet those two criteria," Balanoff said Obama told him. "I said: 'thank you, I'm going to reach out to Gov. Blagojevich."

Balanoff then described a Nov. 6, 2008 meeting he had with Rod Blagojevich to recommend Valerie Jarrett for Barack Obama's Senate seat.

Curiously, most reporters appear to be ignoring the fact that Obama, on several occasions, denied having contact with Blago either directly or indirectly.

In December of 2008, for instance, he flatly denied any discussions:

President-elect Barack Obama said Tuesday afternoon that he has had no dealings with Governor Blagojevich over his replacement in the Senate...

"I had no contact with the governor or his office, and so I was not aware of what was happening," Mr. Obama said. "And as I said it is a sad day for Illinois. Beyond that I don't it's appropriate to comment."

And on another occasion that same month, Obama repeated the claim:

In December 2008, Obama said he was "appalled and disappointed" by the revelations that the Illinois governor was involved in a "pay-to-play" scheme to fill his Senate seat.

"I have never spoken to the governor on this subject. I'm confident that no representatives of mine would have any part of any deals related to this seat," Obama, then the president-elect, said at the time.

But the union boss recalled things differently, testifying under oath that Obama was directly involved and, therefore, that he lied about his wheeling-and-dealing over potential Senate appointees.

Surely some pro journalists could figure out these discrepancies, what with their layers upon layers of fact-checking. Though with Journolost (sic) shut down, keeping all of the narratives straight -- between Newsweek, the New York Times, NBC, Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod -- must be exceedingly difficult.

The Shameless Duplicity of the Obama Administration: Napolitano Directly Contradicts Solis on Immigration Enforcement; Media Strangely Silent.

Example 8,118 of the blatant, in-your-face contradictions -- I'm too polite to call them lies -- excreted by the Obama administration's apparatchiks:

DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, 6/24/2010
: "Instead of doing workplace raids the way they were being done before, we don't do those. What we do is, build cases against employers who consistently, knowingly and potentially violate our nation's immigration laws, going to the illegal labor market, exploit workers..."

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, 6/20/2010
: "You work hard, and you have the right to be paid fairly. I’m U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and it is a serious problem in this country when workers are not being paid every cent they have earned. Remember, every worker in America has a right to be paid fairly, whether documented or not. So call us, it is free and confidential..."
So which is it, Nappie? Which is it, Hildie? Are you going to prosecute businesses for employing illegals -- or just make sure they pay them fair wages? You know, for the jobs Americans won't do.

You people are pathetic. And that goes double for the legacy media.

World's dumbest blogger: The Obama 'recovery' threatened by outrageous GOP demands that unemployment extension be paid for by Congress

Just when you thought Matthew Yglesias couldn't sink any lower on the scale of intellectual rigor, he comes up with a new, mind-roastingly inane missive that sets new records for vacuity. His latest post -- "Senate Republicans Team Up With Ben Nelson to Strangle Economic Recovery" -- is pithy and yet... has it all when it comes to ludiocrity (is that a word?).

Arthur Delaney reports that “Democratic leaders in the Senate have apparently failed to win enough support to overcome a Republican filibuster of a bill to help the poor, the old and the jobless, despite making a series of cuts to the measure over the past several weeks to appease deficit hawks.” To be clear about what’s going on here, the bill is supported by a majority of Senators. But a minority of 41 Republicans plus Ben Nelson will suffice to kill it, and kill it they shall.

Rather than hold the Obama Democrats to account for the trillions in failed economic initiatives -- for a not-so-shovel-ready Stimulus package, burgeoning unemployment, deteriorating banks, a worsening foreclosure crisis, nationalization of failed auto companies, the Raines-Gorelick destruction of the GSEs (to name but a few) -- the WDB asserts that the GOP is somehow damaging the awesome Obama recovery by demanding that Democrats start paying for their limitless unemployment-slash-welfare programs.

You know, the "unemployment benefits" that last two years and now has workers turning down real employment offers so they can remain "on permanent vacation".

As for the "recovery"?

BWAHAHAHHAH AHAHAHHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHH AHAHAHAHHAHA HAHAHHAHAH AHAHHAHAHAHAHAH HAHAHAHAHHAHA HAHAHAHHAH AHAHAHHAHAHH AHAHAHHAHAHA HHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH HAHAH HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH AHHAHAHAHAH HAHAHHAHAHAHH (breathe!) AHHAHAHAH AHHAHAHAH HAHAHAH AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA HAHHAHAHAHAHH AHAHHAHAHAH AHAHHAHAHAHHAHA (*whew*) AKAKAKAKKAKAAKAK (*wheeze*) AHAHAHAHHAA HHAHAHAHAHAH (*cough*)

You mean this recovery?

Yglesias represents intellectual flaccidity at its finest; he is, in essence, a pundit for the pointy-headed. But he is good at it.

Florida Senator LeMieux Blasts Obama Administration: "Where Are the Skimmers?" 60 Days After Gulf Disaster, Only 20 of 2,000 Are Deployed!

Florida GOP Sen. George LeMieux took the Senate floor yesterday to blast the Obama administration's pathetic management of the Gulf oil disaster.

Mr. President, I just want to make some brief remarks this afternoon concerning the ongoing tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico and the Deepwater Horizon response.

61 days ago is when the tragedy started. We are here 61 days later, we still have this tremendous pouring of oil from the bottom of the sea floor into the Gulf of Mexico.

In fact, the amount of oil that is coming into the gulf now equals the size of the Exxon Valdez oil spill every 2 1/2 days.

And yet while this oil continues to gush and while we have hope that the containment dome will capture more and more of this oil as it comes from the bottom of the ocean, we are still seeing a weak, at best, response from the federal government in trying to keep this oil from coming ashore.

Last week -- a week ago tomorrow, I met with the President of the United States and Admiral Allen in Pensacola.

At that time, I raised the issue of skimmers. Why are there so few skimmers in the Gulf of Mexico? Why were there only at that time 32 skimmers off the coast of Florida?

The President and Admiral Allen told me that they were making every effort they could to get more skimmers to the gulf and that they were welcoming foreign skimmers, skimmers from foreign countries come coming to our country to aid in the effort.

I told them at that time that there was a State Department report stating that 21 instances of help have been made and they were refused. Come to find out through discussions with my office that there are still offers and there have been offers from foreign countries and ports for skimmers and that, in fact, those skimmers were refused.

And I'll come to the floor tomorrow to talk about that in more detail. But the state of affairs is that there are only now 20 skimmers off the coast of Florida for.
When there were 32 last week, there are now just 20.

While there are 2,000 skimmers available in the United States alone. That number comes from Admiral Allen.

I spoke to Admiral Allen last week, along with my colleague from Alabama, senator sessions, and we said, where are the skimmers?

I showed him information like I have here today which is the Deepwater Horizon response report from the incident command in the state of Florida.

Then it showed 20 skimmers.

Today it still shows 20 skimmers.

And I asked him to reconcile this for me. If we're asking for all these skimmers, if we're calling for all of them to come here, where are they?

The response is anemic, at best.

So, Mr. President, today I've sent a letter to Admiral Allen asking for an inventory of the 2,000 skimmers that he has said are available in the United States of America.

Now, when I talked to the President and Admiral Allen about this last week, they said, look, some of these skimmers are not available because we may need them for an oil spill. Well, we have an oil spill.

And just because they may be required to stand on watch somewhere in case an oil spill happens someplace else, that's like saying to the people in Pensacola, your home is on fire but we can't send the fire engine because there may be a fire someplace else.

It doesn't make any sense.

So, Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that this letter be offered into the record.

What the hell is going on?

Where are the skimmers? Why were foreign offers of skimmers refused? And is anyone in the legacy media reporting this outrageous mismanagement?

Repeat after me--Conservative Women are Stupid: Palin, Bachmann, Angle (never mind that Democrats have bankrupted the country and destroyed the Gulf).

Have you been re-programmed yet?

Conservatives are stupid. People who believe in free markets are stupid. The Constitution is stupid. Archaic even. I mean, that's what the radical Left would have you believe.

What is it about a strong conservative woman that so frightens liberals? You must admit, though, that Leftists are, if nothing else, consistent in their irrational hatred of strong women:

Gov. Sarah Palin is "amazingly stupid" and "advocates for a theocracy";

Rep. Michelle Bachmann "leads America's exploding extremism" and believes ObamaCare "will profane the Sabbath";

Now Sharron Angle, a true conservative candidate for Senate in Nevada, is under attack by legacy media and the leftist blogosphere (redundant, eh?).

A local Democrat news reporter stalked Angle at a campaign event, shrieking at her for advocating the reformation of Social Security. Or should I call it "the $30 trillion-in-the-hole Social Security" program?

Meanwhile, Harry Reid and his Democrat cohorts are bankrupting the country -- spending your great-great-grandchildrens' money -- while buying land for pennies on the dollar and supporting his lobbyist sons.

There's 14% unemployment in Nevada. Is that Angle's fault? A massive oil spill in the Gulf. Angle behind that? A nuclear Iran? Angle?

Isn't this theme getting a little tired? Are all conservative women stupid theocrats?

Or is the media just a bunch of propagandists advocating for Statism?

Oh, and final Jeopardy question: can we put the adults in charge now?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Got a few spare bucks? Support Sharon Angle in Nevada. You can help kick the despicably dishonest Harry "Land Deal" Reid out of office. Ahhh. Won't that feel good?

You've Lost That Tingling Feeling: MSNBC Obliterates Obama's Oval Office Address: "I'll Barf If He" Mentions Chu's Nobel Prize One More Time

When you've lost Tingle-Boy and Strap-On, you've lost the Marxist Left. Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Howard Fineman trashed the President's address, and basically pined for the successful days of Jimmy Carter.

Olbermann: "It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days."

Matthews compared Obama to Carter.

Olbermann: "Nothing specific at all was said."

Matthews: "No direction."

Howard Fineman: "He wasn't specific enough."

Olbermann: "I don't think he aimed low, I don't think he aimed at all. It's startling."

Howard Fineman: Obama should be acting like a "commander-in-chief."

Matthews: Ludicrous that he keeps saying [Secretary of Energy] Chu has a Nobel prize. "I'll barf if he does it one more time."

Matthews: "A lot of meritocracy, a lot of blue ribbon talk."

Matthews: "I don't sense executive command."

Gee, and here I thought he had all of this executive experience to fall back on.

What ever bones you have to pick with either, Sarah Palin and George W. Bush are both looking pretty damn good right now.

Thomas Jefferson, tonight on Hannity

Tonight on Hannity -- a world-exclusive, the first televised interview with Thomas Jefferson, third President of the United States.

Hannity: Sir, thank you so much for meeting with us. It's a unique honor and privilege.

Jefferson: You're welcome, young man. Your industrious society has created many marvels worthy of the American people.

Hannity: Mr. President, President Obama entered office with a huge amount of "hoopla" and an almost messianic belief that he can "heal the environment", fix the economy, and solve problems like global terrorism. But the economy remains in desperate straits, his foreign policy is a shambles, and an unprecedented environmental disaster is underway. What do you make of the "Obama Legacy"?

Jefferson: No man will ever carry out of the Presidency the reputation which carried him into it.

Hannity: His immense, trillion-dollar "stimulus" package puts control of the people's money in the hands of a few central planners. What is your reaction to that strategy?

Jefferson: Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves are its only safe depositories... I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them but to inform their discretion.

Hannity: So you are generally opposed to a top-down stimulus package and prefer that the spending decisions reside with the people who pay taxes?

Jefferson: I own that I am not a friend to a very energetic government. It is always oppressive.

Hannity: What about Democrats' tendency to grow the size of government and intrude in every aspect of our lives... from the New Deal's entitlement programs, transportation, energy, health care, etc.?

Jefferson: My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

Hannity: And increasing taxes on the highest earners -- the "progressive" income tax?

Jefferson: A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

Hannity: How troubling is it that the amount of debt that the Federal Government is undertaking -- combined with entitlement programs that are massively underfunded -- means that we are passing huge amounts of debt to our children and grandchildren.

Jefferson: It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world... Never spend your money before you have earned it.

Hannity: What would you like to say to the those of our current leaders who are operating under ethical clouds: from Rangel, to Dodd, Murtha, Frank, Mollohan, Clinton, Geithner, Holder and Reid.

Jefferson: Our country is now taking so steady a course as to show by what road it will pass to destruction, to wit: by consolidation of power first, and then corruption, its necessary consequence.

Hannity: You've seen one of my "man-in-the-street" interviews, where we ask random people simple questions about current events, like 'who is the Vice President'? We found during the Obama campaign that many of those voting for him were completely uninformed and various surveys confirm that general ignorance about the man and his motives. Is that troubling?

Jefferson: If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.

Hannity: Mr. President, what are your thoughts about President Obama basically ignoring Republican requests for a bi-partisanship approach to the stimulus package, health care reform and climate change, stating "I won" and to get over themselves?

Jefferson: Bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression.

Hannity: The concept of welfare, where the state redistributes wealth to the poor even though many could easily work, has been statistically shown to increase single-parent families, a culture of dependency and crime. What are your thoughts on welfare?

Jefferson: Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition.

Hannity: Moving to the First Amendment: this concept of blogging, where anyone can be a well-read author or pundit, is a new innovation for politics. Do you believe that blogging is a useful tool to promote Democracy?

Jefferson: Information is the currency of democracy... Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.

Hannity: Interestingly enough, the whole newspaper business has suffered mightily with the rise of the Internet. Your reaction?

Jefferson: I do not take a single newspaper, nor read one a month, and I feel myself infinitely the happier for it.

Hannity: Regarding the Second Amendment, Barack Obama has historically opposed private ownership and possession of firearms. In fact, his home city of Chicago has onerous regulations that effectively prohibit guns altogether, yet the city has the highest number of murders per year of any state in the Union. Your thoughts?

Jefferson: No man shall be debarred the use of arms... Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state. For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security.

Hannity: How do you respond to Democrats who have made a variety of moves to revive the ill-named "Fairness Doctrine", which threatens conservative free speech and which was already ruled unconstitutional once in our history?

Jefferson: I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man... It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others: or their case may, by change of circumstances, become his own.

Hannity: Final question, sir. What about the Democrats' massive dependency programs, entitlement programs, and efforts to censor free speech such as the "Fairness Doctrine"? Doesn't this violate the principles of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution?

Jefferson: Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.

Hannity: Thank you so much for your valuable time, Mr. President.

Jefferson: You are most welcome, young man. Your society is truly a marvel. I can assure you that the founders are proud of you. The blessings bestowed upon you are formidable. But you must protect this precious gift against a devilish foe. This enemy, insidious in its designs, is burrowing at the foundations of our country and has as its aims the destruction of our founding principles.

I call upon you to resist this foe: the modern Democrat Party.
