The Intelligensia at the Washington Post: So Polluted With Statism, Even Automobile Reviews Are Political

It's one thing to suffer through the tortured secretions of Washington Post hacks editorial writers like, say, E.J. Dionne. Everyone knows his mind has been so poisoned with Statism that he now conflates fidelity to the Constitution with "judicial activism".

But it's quite another to read political drivel in a WaPo automobile review, written by someone who claims to be named "Warren Brown".

I like the clean design of the stately-bordering-on-prim Honda CR-V. It appeals to my inner Rick Santorum. But I absolutely love the swank swagger of the Mazda CX-5’s body. It addresses the dominant, motivating Barack and Michelle in me. There is an audacious flow about it front to rear...

...The three-point grille (left corner, right corner, bottom-connecting corner) opens gently, almost with a smile. The side panels are rhythmically muscular, as if they are involved in dance. The rear end with its upward-tilted bottom, slanted back window and sloping, roof-mounted air spoiler, is downright sassy.

It's unclear which rear end he's referring to. Is it that of Barack or Michelle?

Legacy media: so good at journalism stuff it's scary.

Leftist-In-Training (i.e., "Journalist") Beclowns Herself With Faux Book Review of Ameritopia

Over at the Indiana Daily Student, a leftist-in-training (also known as a "journalist") named Sidney Fletcher -- if that is her real name -- just butchered a review of Mark Levin's bestseller Ameritopia.

Sure, there are examples and ideas in the literature of liberal utopias that might be considered tyrannical. The work of utopian socialist Charles Fourier comes to mind.

But I suspect that if Levin were to ask young leftists about their utopias, he would discover that nothing could be farther from the truth.

Leftist utopias are a libertarian’s paradise...

...It is people such as Levin, who claim to be on the side of liberty but want to take women’s rights to control their own body and want to continue the clear economic bias of the state in favor of the rich, who are responsible for statism and for creating the problems in America today.

Levin decries utopia as the fantasy of the left, but in doing so he ignores his own desired utopia: a utopia led by the perversions of the memory of the Founding Fathers in which all those annoying minorities would just go away.

Sidney, it is curious indeed that you omitted two of the most critical elements of Ameritopia. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are central to Levin's thesis and yet you give no credence to the history and context of the these documents, other than to tar the Founders and Framers as racists.

The Constitution inarguably created the most benificent society ever seen on Earth. People of every background, race, religion and creed strive to enter the United States, not because it is an intolerant society, but because it offers the most opportunities for the individual to succeed on his or her own merits.

Clearly you have skipped over the battle between the northern and southern states while the Declaration of Independence was being written. The slave states, most prominently South Carolina and William Rutledge, refused to endorse The Declaration unless the scourge of slavery was omitted. It is clear, however, that no country with a founding document like the Declaration could long tolerate slavery.

In fact, the ratification of the Constitution by the states performed two noble services to advance the anti-slavery cause: it banned the importation of slaves, setting the stage for the eventual end of the despicable practice; and it forced the southern states to count slaves as three-fifths of an individual for purposes of Congressional representation.

This was critically important, because the slave states wanted to have it both ways: they sought to count slaves as human beings for the purposes of strengthening their Congressional numbers, but also to treat them as chattel from a legal perspective.

The Constitutional compromise thereby instantiated an inherent conflict between North and South.

Had the Declaration and Constitution not united the states, there would have been no Civil War over the issue of slavery and emancipation. Slavery likely would have survived far longer in a set of disparate states without a cohesive federal charter like the Constitution.

In summary, you do a disservice to the overall point of the book. Conservatism recognizes the inherent flaws of government and its tendency to dissolve into various corrupted forms of tyranny or authoritarianism -- consider the long history of mankind as proof -- and attempts to strengthen the bulwark against this dissolution. That bulwark is the Constitution.

You claim that "Leftist utopias are a libertarian’s paradise", yet the public sector unions and trial lawyers -- two groups working in lockstep with Democrats -- argue endlessly for bigger government, more regulations, more taxes and more sovereignty of the government over the individual. You can look no farther than the teachers unions' unequivocal war against charter schools, against the will of most parents seeking a better education for their children.

In fact, progressivism, the tenet of the Democrat Party since Woodrow Wilson, recognizes no limits on government. Can the federal government force you to buy health insurance? Why, of course it can! Can it tell you what kind of shower heads, light bulbs, cars, clothing, baby strollers and food to purchase? Yes of course! No, leftist utopias are totalitarian states, where freedom of speech is banned, there are no gun rights, and state governments have no power whatsoever.

Tell me, which of the Bill of Rights do you think Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi would support?

And Sidney, I ask you: where are the limits on government if not the Constitution? Many of our temporary politicans take an oath to uphold that document and then promptly attempt to evade or ignore it. If laws are malleable, if they can be shredded at the whim of a Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer for some temporary expedient, what prevents the eventual descent of this Republic into Ameritopia? Where are the limits on government, if we are to ignore our highest law, not to mention history, facts, logic and experience?

The default condition of humankind has been poverty, misery and slavery. We live in the most magnificent society ever seen on Earth, and instead of protecting it, Democrats continuously push us to adopt the failed policies of central planning, massive debts, unlimited welfare, and managed economies. And now we stand perilously close to the abyss, both from an economic and a societal perspective.

So do you support America? Or Ameritopia?

This is six-year old Aliyah Shell, one of 10 killed and 50 wounded last weekend in Chicago. So where are the professional race-baiters?

At 3:00pm on Saturday afternoon, 6-year old Aliyah Shell was sitting with her mother and sister on the front porch of her home in the 3100 block of South Springfield Avenue. A pickup truck drove by, slowed to a near stop and the passenger side window rolled down. Shots rang out.

Aliyah Shell was killed by the gunfire as the truck drove off.

At least 10 people were killed, including a 6-year-old girl, in shootings over the weekend in Chicago... The slain were among at least 49 people wounded in shootings from 5 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday...

So where are the professional race-baiters like Al "Not So" Sharpton and Jesse Jerkson?

Where is MSNBS, ABS, CBS and NBS Nightly News?

Where are the New Black Panthers and the other thugs seeking to profit from Trayvon Martin's death?

They don't give a crap about Aliyah Shell, or the hundreds of others killed and wounded every year in Obama's hometown of Chicago.

No, they care only about fomenting hatred, division and dissent. They studiously avoid the ramifications of their failed policies, from the "Great Society" to the "War on Poverty".

All Americans -- citizens of every race, creed, religion and color -- should reject the Democrat Party and its vicious marketing of racial hatred.

The race-baiters get what they wanted from Trayvon's death: civil unrest

The professional race-baiters -- including, but not limited to, Al "Not So" Sharpton and Jesse Jerkson -- raced to Florida even before all of the facts related to Trayvon Martin's fatal shooting were known.

The results? All too predictable.

Police: Trayvon protesters ransack store

North Miami Beach police said surveillance video shows dozens of high school students demonstrating in the Trayvon Martin case Friday ransacking a Walgreens store...

The incident occurred during a walkout from North Miami Beach Senior High School in support of Martin, 17, who was fatally shot in Sanford... Surveillance video shows dozens of teenagers running through the store. Police said about 80 to 100 students stormed in, ransacking the shelves, before the school's vice principal ordered everyone outside.

That legacy media still gives any credence whatsoever to the loathsome Sharpton is proof that they are an anachronism, as relevant as a fossilized pigeon in a tarpit.

Trayvon, Zimmerman and the President: Someone behaved stupidly

When it comes to cynical politicians, we appear to have one of the all-time best in our current president.

President Obama, during a brief Rose Garden press conference meant to announce his nominee for World Bank president, ventured into the high-intensity controversy over the unarmed black teenager fatally shot in Florida -- calling the case a "tragedy" and saying if he had a son, "he'd look like Trayvon." ... The death of Trayvon Martin, 17, is now under investigation by the Justice Department and FBI... Obama, asked about the case Friday, noted that he doesn't want to interfere with the probe being led by his attorney general, Eric Holder. But he made clear that he empathizes deeply with the parents in the case...

What this article won't tell you is that Obama never takes extraneous questions from the press after making a statement. But in this case, he paused momentarily at the end of the briefing, leaving time for a pre-planned question to be asked.

Leave it to the peerless iOwnTheWorld to pwn this crass setup of a question and answer.

The press also failed to mention that the initial television reports interviewed a witness who stated that Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman pummeling him.

The witness also said that as Zimmerman was being attacked by Trayvon Martin, he was screaming for help.

The neighborhood where Zimmerman was helping to patrol as part of a local watch program had suffered eleven (11) break-ins in recent weeks.

Like the 2009 incident in Cambridge -- in which the president humiliated himself by claiming that police "acted stupidly" before he had learned anything about the case -- we have another example of stupid behavior.

We have someone in a position of great power, who is willing to foment civil unrest without the benefit of any of the facts related to the incident.

But November is coming.

Top 15 Signs at the #RallyForReligiousFreedom You'll Never See in Legacy Media

Crowds across the United States -- from San Diego to Washington, D.C. -- participated in the Rally For Religious Freedom.

In San Diego, one of the more impressive displays included...

...an "Impeach Obama -- Lawless Prez" sign dragged behind an airplane over San Diego.

The crowd roared.

Shhh... no one tell Sandra Fluke (pronounced "Fluck").

Uh oh, this must be a religious extremist. Someone tell Homeland Security.

Oh no: college students who oppose Obamacare. Say it ain't so!

Yes, all ages, races, creeds and colors participated in these rallies. Because religious freedom doesn't discriminate. But Obamacare does.

Even the White House saw protesters.

Curious how we didn't hear about any of these rallies in legacy media.

Nor see any of these signs.

Maybe they're hoping we'll go away. Along with the Constitution.

Fat chance.

Even kids know better.

It's time to Stand Up For Religious Freedom.

It appears the media forgot to mention that Barack Obama and terrorist Bill Ayers shared an office for... three years #VetThePrez

Yesterday I highlighted a little-remembered NPR report from 2000 in which Barack Obama, then running for Congress, bragged about his experience running the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC). The CAC, a multi-million dollar left-wing foundation was controlled by domestic terrorist and accused cop-killer Bill Ayers.

Ayers hired Barack Obama as Chairman of the Board of the CAC, even though he had no experience whatsoever. Ayers, who supposedly didn't have any relationship with Obama, put the younger man in charge of roughly $110 million and thereby jump-started his career.

And no one in legacy media ever asked why.

Obama, asked about his relationship with Ayers during a 2008 debate, pooh-poohed any ties, stating that he was "just a guy from the neighborhood."

That same year, however, Verum Serum uncovered some fascinating information regarding the relationship between the two men. They had shared an office for three years.

This Chicago Annenberg Challenge website from 2002 shows the total amount of funds given to Bill Ayers’ Small Schools Workshop from 1995 to 2001. The amount is not the $175K I had reported earlier. According to this page, the total given under Barack Obama’s direct supervision was $1,056,162. Adding that amount to the money given by the Joyce Foundation and Woods Fund during Obama’s tenure brings the grand total to $1,968,718. Just shy of two million dollars! That’s a lot of scratch, to put it bluntly. And don’t forget, this doesn’t count the 3/4 million that went to John Ayers during the same time period...

Ayers’ Small Schools Workshop, the one Obama directed all that money too is located at 115 S. Sangamon Street, Chicago, Illinois 60607...

...In 1998, the address for the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, where Obama presumably worked, was 115 S. Sangamon Street, Chicago, Illinios 60607. Here’s a copy of their 1998 tax return with that address:..

And according to this memo dated 1996, Small Schools Workshop was also on the 3rd floor...

So while the media gave Joe the Plumber a colonoscopy and The New York Times published the fictional sexual escapades of John McCain, Barack Obama apparently maintained a close working relationship with the leader of a band of cop-killers.

Just a guy in the neighborhood? We already knew Barack Obama lied about that, but has anyone ever mentioned that the two men were basically living together? Furthermore, they were co-located with Mike Klonsky, a radical communist who (like Ayers) seeks the destruction of the United States government.

In the words of Andrew Breitbart, this time we're going to vet him.

Spread the word.

Obama in 2008: Bill Ayers? Never Heard of Him. Obama in 2000: Dude Launched My Career! #VetThePrez

In 2008, in one of the only interviews Barack Obama ever granted to an independent -- as opposed to obsequious -- member of the media, Bill O'Reilly queried the candidate regarding his affiliation with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.

BARACK OBAMA: ...on this Ayers thing, which you've been hyping, Bill.

O'REILLY: Not that much.

BARACK OBAMA: This guy did something despicable forty years ago.

O'REILLY: Despicable last week. He said he didn't do enough bombing. That's last week.

BARACK OBAMA: Here's a guy that does something despicable when I'm eight years old. Alright? I come to Chicago. He's working with Mayor Richard Daley, not known to be a radical. So, he and I know each other as a consequence of work he's doing on education. That is not an endorsement of his views ... This guy is not part of my campaign, he's not some adviser of mine.

But on local television in 2000, Obama told a very different story.

Interviewer: One of the criticisms that arises in connection with your candidacy is you simply haven't been in the Senate very long, the State Senate. You have a limited track record in terms of time, what is your argument based on the one term that you've served so far? What makes you prepared for the Congress?

Obama: Well, I'm in my second term, but it's true that certainly both Senator Trotter and Congressman Rush have been in elected office longer than I have. I can't deny that. I would argue, though, that my experience previous to elected office equips me for the job. I have a background as an attorney, I've represented affordable housing organizations to build affordable housing, something that's a major issue in the district.

I've chaired major philanthropic efforts in the city like the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, that gave fifty million dollars to prompt school reform efforts throughout the city.

Yet this important qualification in Barack Obama's career has been utterly and completely omitted from the 'official biography' on his website.

In 1995 Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn -- who advocate the overthrow of the U.S government to this very day -- launched Barack Obama's career by hosting a "Meet the Candidate" event in their home.

Ayers, who controlled the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), then hired Barack Obama as Chairman of the Board of the CAC, even though he had no experience other than as a "community organizer."

Ayers gave a completely unqualified Obama a job in which he administered $50 million (and another $60 or more million in matching funds). This single act helped jump-start Obama's political career, as evidenced by the interview. The question no one is asking: why?

Ayers and Obama also served together on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago. Among those who received funds from the pair were the Arab-American Action Network, founded by a member of the PLO, and ACORN, a group infamous for vote fraud and subsequently exposed as a criminal operation by Andrew Breitbart and James O'Keefe.

Reverend Meeks, Father Pfleger, Reverend Jeremiah Wright and Trinity United Church all received funds from Ayers and Obama.

In return, the mega-churches are alleged to have delivered thousands of votes to Obama.

Summary

While the New York Times crack investigative staff busily pursued Sarah Palin's emails, they completely missed the biggest story of the 2008 election cycle.

Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn are unrepentent terrorists who even today advocate communism and the overthrow of the United States government. They launched and orchesterated Barack Obama's career, providing him with the qualifications necessary to run for major political office.

Repeat: communists and terrorists launched Obama's career. And the fossils at the Times, who are rapidly sinking into financial quicksand, couldn't bother to report the story.

Update: An important note concerning the Chicago television interview from 2000. NPR had this transcript on its site at one point (via Google), but it has since been expunged! Since NPR doesn't permit caching, the search engines (and the Wayback Archive) don't appear to have copies. I've reproduced the transcript myself, so any errors are my own.

* In April 2008, Ayers wrote:

Capitalism played its role historically and is exhausted as a force for progress: built on exploitation, theft, conquest, war, and racism, capitalism and imperialism must be defeated and a world revolution... must win.

In 2006, Ayers described his life underground while he operated as a terrorist. It doesn't sound too different from his current patter.

In some ways life underground was [in some] ways... extraordinary because we felt that our lives had a serious purpose that we were conscious of and earnest about every day: to end a war and overthrow a system—imperialism—that made war after war inevitable, and to upend centuries of racial oppression and white supremacy creating a society based on equality, justice, and love.

He forgot the "by killing cops" part.

Munchkin WaPo Journolist Ezra Klein Bashes Ryan Plan, Somehow Omits Fact That Marxist Democrats Haven't Passed a Budget in 1,030 Days

Folks, this is how societies collapse. I don't just mean the virulent spread of corrupt, Marxist politicians that launched a successful coup inside the modern Democrat Party (as The Blaze observes, progressivism has transformed itself into full-blown Communism). It's also the tacit approval of tyranny, the abdication of journalism, the complete endorsement of lawlessness by pencil-necked Leftist hacks like Ezra Klein.

The country is headed down the fiscal tubes. Everyone from Peter Orszag to the CBO, from the Medicare Actuaries to the Social Security Administration agree we're headed for an economic catastrophe.

And yet thoughtless kooks like Ezra ("The Constitution is, dude, like a hundred years old! Who can understand it?") Klein have massive, though thankfully diminishing, bully pulpits at DNC press release outlets such as The Washington Post.

Unless you're really feeling masochistic, I'll spare you from reading Klein's latest tripe, entitled "Why the Republican budgets make the poor pay". Suffice it to say that Klein tries to paint Paul Ryan's budget as some sort of extremist plan to shortchange the poor.

Hey, dumbass: how's African-American and Hispanic unemployment working out under the masterful Obama?

Hey, idiot: how'd that multi-trillion dollar "Stimulus" package help unemployment and underemployment?

Hey, schmuck: how do you think the poor and seniors will fare when the interest on the debt is a trillion dollars in just a handful of years?

Hey, crackpot: how do you think seniors will like having $575 billion pulled out of Medicare to pay for a new, insanely complex, Rube Goldberg experiment in central planning called "Obamacare"?

Oh, and hey, Leftist tool: did you know that the Party of Marxism -- your party -- hasn't passed a budget in 1,030 days or so? And you're complaining about a thoughtful attempt to save the country from fiscal collapse? How about some vitriol for this egregious, unlawful, treasonous failure by Democrats in Congress?

These are all rhetorical questions, because the device has yet to be invented that can measure the amount of intellectual honesty possessed by the likes of this hack.

Oh, and by the way, all of those names I called Klein are the terms he prefers, I hear.

Until legacy media erases its mastheads of thoughtless tools like Klein, they are flat-out doomed.

Great news: Iran allied with Obama 'spiritual mentor' Jeremiah Wright to foment violence at radical Anti-Israel protest

Isn't it time legacy media vetted Obama -- or do they just want to wither and die, leaving real journalism up to the Army of Breitbarts? I'm wagering on the latter.

The Iranian regime is behind a global, anti-Israel protest movement that has attracted endorsements from former government officials and allies of President Barack Obama—including his longtime pastor and mentor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Billed as a purely peaceful protest movement, the Global March to Jerusalem (GMJ) is an amalgam of anti-Israel activists from across the world. On March 30, the group plans to storm Israel’s borders, likely provoking a bloody conflict.

The Global March adheres to a radical left-wing ideology that denies Jewish historical connections to Jerusalem. Organizers have vowed to “end the Apartheid, ethnic cleansing and Judaisation policies affecting the people, land, and sanctity of Jerusalem.”

At the center of the movement lies Iran, which has provided moral and logistical support to various anti-Israel proxy groups participating in the march, according to an Israeli intelligence group and other experts.

Iran’s ultimate goal, they say, is to foment global disdain for Israel, thus diverting attention away from its disputed nuclear program.

True to form, the usual cadre of Islamofascists, useful idiots, and progressive Democrat Marxists -- like Barack Obama's longtime friend and mentor, Jeremiah Wright -- will find a way to demonstrate their open hatred of America and Israel.

Europe: Brace for Impact

Q: How's that austerity thingamabob working out in Europe?

A: It was only the "worst February for new car sales in Europe since the turn of the century."

Now, it is beginning to hurt: The European new car market crashed in February. According to data released by the European manufacturers’ association ACEA, new car sales were down 9.7 percent in February. Two months into the year, car sales in the EU are down 8.3 percent from the same period a year earlier.

...The harmless looking percentages hide the fact that this February was the worst of the millennium. Only 888,878 units changed hands in the EU27 in February, the lowest level since comparing months made sense (going back further is futile, the EU was much smaller then…) Even during carmageddon, European had not seen a February as bad as this one...

Hey, I've got an idea! Let's mimic the failed European social Democrat welfare state model like Paul Krugman says! I'll bet that'll work out super!

Surprising Shortage of Gullible Rubes: Obama Fundraising Turns Out To Be Far More Difficult Than Anticipated

Finding buckets of big money from Forrest Gump-level intellects appears much harder than predicted for the ill-fated Obama regime.

The Washington Post notes President Obama trails Republican front-runner Mitt Romney "in finding donors willing to give $2,000 or more -- a surprising development for a sitting president, and one that could signal more worrisome financial problems heading into the general election. At this point in the last election cycle, Obama had received such large donations from more than 23,000 supporters, nearly double the 11,000 who have given him that much this time. President George W. Bush had more than four times the number of big donations at this point in his reelection."

"Republicans and Democrats alike thought that Obama would have a big financial advantage over Republicans this fall given his record-breaking 2008 fundraising and his status as the sitting president. But the trend of slackening big-donor support is the latest in a series of indications that the 2012 money battle is going to be much tighter than once imagined."

It's not just the big-money donors. The same problems extend to the rabble.

Last July, President Obama's campaign announced that it had raised an average of $29 million in each of the previous three months for itself and the Democratic National Committee (DNC). I was only mildly impressed. After all, that was well below the $50 million a month needed to reach the campaign's goal of a $1 billion war chest for the 2012 race... Seven months later, I'm even less impressed. Through January, the president has raised an average of $24 million a month for his campaign and the DNC...

...many of Mr. Obama's 2008 donors are reluctant to give again. The Obama campaign itself reported that fewer than 7% of 2008 donors renewed their support in the first quarter of his re-election campaign. That's about one-quarter to one-third of a typical renewal rate: In the first quarter of the Bush re-election campaign, for example, about 20% of the donors renewed their support.

There are other troubling signs. Team Obama's email appeals don't ask for $10, $15, $25 or $50 donations as they did in 2008, but generally for $3. Nor are the appeals mostly about issues; many are lotteries. Give three bucks and your name will be put in a drawing for a private dinner with the president and first lady... it suggests the campaign has found that only a low price point with a big benefit can overcome donor resistance...

...This perhaps explains why the White House told congressional Democrats last week not to expect a single dime for their campaign efforts from the Democratic National Committee this year. All the DNC's funds will be needed for the president's re-election.

His campaign's financial situation also may explain why Mr. Obama has embraced Super PACs after decrying them as a "threat to democracy" in the midterm elections...

In related news, the number of Obama's 2008 donors who remain unaffected by the SCOAMF's disastrous policies continues to plummet.

Looking for a conservative news portal? BadBlue is "like Lucianne or Drudge but more comprehensive"

That's a direct quote from Ace of Spades' Maetenloch, describing the new conservative news aggregator BadBlue.com.

BadBlue automatically monitors over 500 blogs, news sites and web periodicals and ranks each of their stories based upon social media mentions and other factors. Stories are exhaustively reviewed in near real-time, 24 hours a day, to determine which make the front page:

Especially fast-moving stories are highlighted in color. Let's take a closer look at a couple of examples:

Here we've highlighted two stories. The top story ("Just posted: The #Sharptontapes: MSNBC's hate-monger lets loose...") is blue, which means it's rising quickly in popularity on the social networks. The source of the story ("Malkin") is Michelle Malkin's popular site and is followed by its popularity (53) and the number of clicks (in this case, the story is brand new and hasn't received any clicks). The second story ("Is Obama Running Against Sarah Palin?") comes from the Power Line blog and also has a popularity ranking of 53. It's received 21 click-throughs.

You can chart the popularity of each story by clicking on the story's permalink icon (the small ∞ symbol) or any of the popularity numbers. Here's the popularity of a story from the award-winning Shark Tank blog.

The permalink page also has a comments section.

By clicking on the site name (e.g., "Malkin" or "Power" in the above examples), you can get a list of the most popular stories from each site. Here's an example using the blog Creeping Sharia:

The executive summary?

It's news for conservatives. Always fresh. Always relevant. 24 by 7, 365. Or 366, in this case. It's BadBlue.
