Vexing problem for laughingstock media: how to blame Mitt Romney for Barack Obama's "Egypt no longer an ally" gaffe

Just moments after accusing Mitt Romney of "shooting first and aiming later", President Obama accidentally blurted out a slight modification to U.S. foreign policy: Egypt is no longer an ally of the United States.

NBC's chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel ripped the president for his outrageous and unexpected remarks.

Barack Obama’s assertion that he doesn’t consider Egypt an ally stunned NBC’s chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel. Engel, reporting from Cairo, tells Chuck Todd that he needed to “sit down” after hearing that statement. Engel reminds Todd that the US had two major Arab allies in the region when Obama took office, on which it spent a significant amount of foreign aid to keep it that way — Egypt and Saudi Arabia. If we’ve lost Egypt as an ally, Engel asks, wasn’t supporting the effort to overthrow Hosni Mubarak a huge mistake?

After accusing Mitt Romney of "shooting first, aiming later" -- in the very same interview -- the White House immediately attempted to walk back the president's diplomatic gaffe.

President Barack Obama didn't intend to signal any change in the U.S.-Egypt relationship last night when he said Egypt is not an "ally," the White House told The Cable today.

In an interview with Telemundo Wednesday night, Obama said that the U.S. relationship with the new Egyptian government was a "work in progress," and emphasized that the United States is counting on the government of Egypt to better protect the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, which was attacked by protesters on Sept. 11.

"I don't think that we would consider them an ally, but we don't consider them an enemy," Obama said. "They're a new government that is trying to find its way. They were democratically elected. I think that we are going to have to see how they respond to this incident."

That comment had Egypt watchers scratching their heads, especially since technically, Egypt was designated as a Major Non-NATO Ally in 1989 when Congress first passed the law creating that status, which gives them special privileges in cooperating with the United States, especially in the security and technology arenas.

White House spokesman Tommy Vietor told The Cable Thursday that the administration is not signaling a change in that status.

Talking about shooting first and acting later: remember "The Cambridge Police acted stupidly" statement?

Talk amongst yourself.

President Obama does Vegas

Patricia writes:

While the country mourns and the Middle East devolves into chaos, the media conspires to attack Mitt Romney for defending America.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama does Vegas.

More story ideas for NPR's Ari Shapiro and CBS News' Jan Crawford

If they can spare a few minutes between attacks on Mitt Romney, perhaps NPR's Ari Shapiro and CBS News' Jan Crawford can take time to examine some of the bigger issues. Namely, the utter failure of "The Obama Doctrine" -- whatever it may be -- as the Middle East erupts in Islamist-fueled chaos and Iran's nuclear-tipped missiles near readiness.

There were plenty of warnings: Days before 9/11, Jihadi groups in Egypt threatened to burn down the U.S. Embassy in Cairo.

Missing a week of PDB meetings: Despite these warnings and the run-up to the 9/11 anniversary, President Obama skipped a week of President Daily Brief (PDB) meetings

Sleeping through the 3am phone call: Notified that Ambassador Stevens was missing from the Bengazi compound, President Obama went to sleep.

Jay-Z and Beyonce take priority: In the midsdt of the conflagration, including pictures circulating worldwide of Ambassador Stevens being dragged through the streets of Bengazi, President Obama headed to... Las Vegas for a $40,000-a-head celebrity fundraiser.

Who approved the State Department's apology?: While the president claimed yesterday that the Embassy issued its apology without his approval, Senator James Inhofe stated on Fox News this morning that the president absolutely approved the statement prior to its release on the web and on Twitter.

President Obama condemned Mitt Romney's criticisms of the State Department apology before he criticized the attacks themselves.

No Live Ammo: U.S. Marines were not permitted by the Obama administration to have live ammo at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo.

Even after Benghazi Consulate attacked in June, no additional security was added: despite an IED detonating at the Benghazi facility, the administration failed to tighten security, leaving it instead up to their Libyan hosts. Reports indicate that these same Libyan security personnel were involved with the attack that left the Ambassador and other U.S. personnel dead.

The President has refused a meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister, but will find time to appear on the David Letterman Show. In addition, Obama invited the President of Egypt (leader of the Muslim Brotherhood) to meet next week at the U.N. while repudiating Israel's leader's request to meet that same week.

Just a little career advice for Ms. Crawford and Mr. Shapiro: if you want to resurrect your careers (which now, officially, languish in laughingstock territory), perhaps a little focus on America's national security interests -- which is what this story is really about -- rather than Mitt Romney's political persuasion might help.

Instantly Discredited NYT Hit Piece Claims Bush Was Aware of Impending Bin Laden Attacks, Did Nothing

It would appear that the Times has embraced a borderline form of Truther-ism.

In what must be Chapter 48,204 of The New York Times' unceasing war on George W. Bush, a propagandist named "Kurt Eichenwald" -- if that is his real name -- recycles the ludicrous claim that the 43rd President ignored plain warnings about the 9/11 attacks.

...11 years later, new details of the attack on the World Trade Center continue to emerge from the government's vault of classified documents and the journalists who've gained access. This year, the reporter with the jaw-dropping scoop is Kurt Eichenwald, a former Timesman and present contributing editor at Vanity Fair.

After reading more than one tweet with the simple instructions "Read this," we clicked on the link to Eichenwald's powerful op-ed, due to be published in The New York Times on September 11. In it, Eichenwald goes into teeth-grinding detail about how the Bush administration had even more advance notice about Osama Bin Laden's attack than we previously realized. You should read it, too.

With the infamous August 6 White House briefing as a focal point, Eichenwald walks through the months and years [Ed: Remember, Bush has been President for all of half a year when these events occurred] of warnings leading up to the September 11 attacks. Some of these are events and reports that remain classified, but Eichenwald says he's "read excerpts from many of them, along with other recently declassified records, and come to an inescapable conclusion: the administration's reaction to what Mr. Bush was told in the weeks before that infamous briefing reflected significantly more negligence than has been disclosed."

Eichenturd's source for the article: "An intelligence official and a member of the Bush administration."

Which, of course, means a single person who could be an entry-level staffer... or a more senior one holding a grudge. In other words, following the template of prior Times hit pieces, it's one anonymous person. Kind of like the one anonymous person who told me Eichenwald likes to wear women's underwear.

As commenter Hokma reminds us:

Eichenwald was demolished on the Joe Scarborough Show by former New York Governor George Pataki who ripped him to shreds and Eichenwald had no where to go trying to defend his book...

Here are [the] facts. Bin Laden should have been dead or captured before Bush was President.

Indeed. Remember Bill Clinton's National Security Adviser, Sandy Berger?

Yes, that's the same fun-loving Sandy Berger who stole and destroyed classified documents related to the 9/11 investigation.

While the NYT's Truthers are busy investigating how Halliburton imploded WTC 7, Richard Miniter discloses the real reason Berger risked a prison sentence to steal the 9/11 documents.

My informed sources suggest that what Berger destroyed were copies of the Millennium After-Action Review, a binder-sized report prepared by Richard Clarke in 2000—a year and half before the 9-11 attacks. The review made a series of recommendations for a tougher stance against bin Laden and terrorism. There are 13 or more copies of this report. But only one contains hand-written notes by President Bill Clinton. Apparently, in the margin beside the recommendations, Bill Clinton wrote NO, NO, NO next to many of the tougher policy proposals.

You can see why Clinton might be happy to see these records vanish down the memory hole... So Berger was stuffing in pants and socks and later shredding the evidence that President Clinton did not want to take a tougher line on bin Laden, following the 1998 attack on two U.S. embassies that killed 224 people (including 12 American diplomats).

[Now Hillary] makes Berger one of her top three foreign policy advisers... and I have a few questions:

Did she bring him aboard to reward him for his criminal destruction of classified material? Or did she sign him up because of his stellar record in fighting bin Laden in the late 1990s?

If Miniter's sources are correct -- and, from the looks of things, they are -- it's easy to determine why Berger took the risks he did.

Bill Clinton's legacy and Hillary Clinton's 2008 hopes for the presidency rested on Berger's ability to purge the National Archives of the incriminating material.

And the Times wouldn't lift a finger investigating any of these outrages.

They were too busy inventing extramarital affairs for John McCain and weapons-grade-stupid hit jobs like the "Al Qaqaa" fable.

Some good news for Romney-Ryan: the trend is your friend

Be of good cheer. The latest polls have caused a few shudders throughout the right side of the blogosphere (premature, to be sure), but there are several objective elements of which you should be aware.

First, the long-term InTrade trend-line -- generally a pretty good indicator since real money is at stake -- appears to be a positive one for the Romney-Ryan ticket.

As more people learn about the tremendous qualifications possessed by Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, the more comfortable they become with the pair.

In addition, there are several reasons I think the polls are fundamentally misstating support for Barack Obama's obviously failed presidency:

1. The return of "The Bradley Effect": Barack Obama, a thoroughly likable and eloquent politician, marketed himself as a centrist and post-partisan figure in 2008. Unknown and un-vetted that year, he could get away with it. Pollsters are likely not accounting for the fact that Obama is a known quantity this year -- and the well-known Bradley Effect could very well resurface.

2. The revolt of the union rank-and-file: If you're a union member aware of Obama's destructive agenda -- killing the coal industry, oil drilling, trucking, and refining (to name but a few), you're not going to respond to some random call with the truth. Union members have to be cautious and they are used to being pressured and intimidated. I can assure you that pollsters are not taking the Reagan Democrat factor into account, just as they missed it completely in 1980.

3. Incorrect sampling of the population: As HillBuzz explains, polling firms are generally using 2008 party breakdowns when the entire country has changed dramatically:

1. Look at the partisan breakdown of the poll and make sure it is the 2012 numbers. The partisan breakdown I am using for the 2012 elections is: D=33.3%, R=37.6%, I=29.2%. We are at the highest percentage of Republican registrations and the lowest percent of Democrat registrations in history. The polls you see that show Obama leading in states like Ohio are deceiving you because they are running Democrat percentages that are 44% or MORE; that’s just ridiculous because the highest Democrat registration advantage in YEARS was in 2008, where Democrats were at 41.4% to just 33.8% for Republicans and 24.7% for Independents. 2008 was the Democrats’ high water mark...

2. Look at the gender gap in the poll and see if it is realistic. The second easiest way to cook a poll is to include a much higher percentage of women than men because women tend to vote Democrat more than men...

3. Look for the racial breakdown of the poll to check if that’s being cooked for Democrats’ benefit. This is similar to the above, but is a little more complicated because on average blacks are 12% of the population but have a very low turnout in typical election years. 2008 was an anomaly because race-pride drove a lot of blacks to the polls... There’s no way that blacks or any other Democrat identity bloc will vote in 2008 percentages, though, so any poll that’s saying these numbers will be the same (or higher!) is bunk...

Clearly, all of us still have work to do.

But old media and the polls didn't predict the 2010 wipeout until the last possible minute (even then, many of them flatly understated the seachange).

Nothing's really changed since then, except more people are out of work and more people are ticked off than two years ago.

As U.S. casualties mount in Afghanistan, passing 2,000 KIA in June, MSM suddenly forgets "grim milestone" phrase

Remember that phrase -- "grim milestone" -- whenever a round number of U.S. troops had perished in Afghanistan or Iraq? Gallons of ink were consumed to market the phrase during the years George W. Bush served as president.

In August, the U.S. surpassed the 2,000 KIA mark in Afghanistan to almost no fanfare. As Dan Riehl observes, much of the U.S. is numb to the heroic sacrifices of our military, primarily because vintage media no longer has a Republican president to hammer.

In June, the number of fallen U.S. soldiers reached 2,000 in the Afghani theater of operations. More than twice as many U.S. troops have perished in Afghanistan under President Obama's command in three-and-a-half years than during President Bush's two terms in office.

And unlike the Bush era, most of big media completely ignored the grim milestone:

There was no story last week on the Afghanistan death “milestone” on ABC, NBC, the PBS NewsHour – or even on the MSNBC programs found in Nexis, including Rachel “Our Military’s In a Perilous Drift” Maddow.

But the networks were all more aggressive when the 2,000 mark arrived in Iraq on October 25, 2005. The Big Three networks devoted 14 morning and evening news stories to the death toll from October 24 through the end of October, and another 24 anchor briefs or mentions. They used the number to spell “disaster for this White House.”

I did a quick Google News Search (for the phrase "grim milestone" AND ("afghanistan" OR "iraq")) by year to determine whether the phrase had gone out of favor about the time President Obama took office.

Here's what I found:

2004: CNN, CBS News, New York Times, USA Today, the Associated Press
2005: People Magazine, Sacramento Bee, New York Times, Dallas Morning News, Boston Globe, USA Today, New York Daily News, the Associated Press, Bloomberg, BBC
2006: USA Today, CNN, New York Times, CBS News, Fox News, the Associated Press, CNN, NPR
2007: USA Today, msnbc, New York Times, Reuters, CBS News
2008: New York Times, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Seattle Times, ABC News, msnbc, US News & World Report, CNN, Sacramento Bee
2009: CBS News, New York Times, USA Today, CNN, msnbc
2010: Boston Globe, Time, CNN, ABC News, USA Today, Reuters, Boston Globe, Business Week, Washington Post,
2011: Seattle Times
2012: PBS

The New York Times and USA Today, in particular, appear to have dropped the "grim milestone" phrase from its style guide.

But don't accuse them of being biased.

Fascism raised its ugly head at the DNC

And if this isn't fascism, let me know the right word for this kind of behavior.

Conservative talk-show hosts who came to Charlotte to interview political figures are furious. For the first time in anyone’s memory, Radio Row — the designated set of booths available to visiting talk-show hosts — has seen restrictions placed on its use by Team Obama. DNC staffers at Radio Row will book leading Democrats for slots on conservative stations but then cancel the appearances an hour or so before broadcast “because you’re not our audience.”

Roger Hedgecock, a former mayor of San Diego now hosting a nationally syndicated talk show, decided to pack up and leave Charlotte early because “we were blocked from getting any guests that mattered. It was a complete freeze.” Larry O’Connor of Breitbart Radio told me, “It was the most bizarre act of censorship. These shows paid large fees and spent thousands on equipment setup and they couldn’t do their programs because of interference.”

Oh, hey. I'm back.

I looked up fascism. Here's the complete, illustrated definition.

Top 10 Vintage Media Putdowns of Obama's Disastrous DNC Speech

How bad was Obama's recycled mish-mash of a speech last night? So bad that even antique media panned it across the board.

10. Pittsburgh Tribune Review’s Salena Zito: “Lack Of Jobs Mention In The Speech Is Telling…” (Twitter.com, 9/6/12)

9: National Journal: “Why Obama's Speech Fell Short” (National Journal, 9/6/12)

8: CNN’s Brianna Keilar: “Don't Think I'm Going Out On A Limb To Say Clinton Was Wayyyyyyy Better Than Obama.” (Twitter.com, 9/6/12)

7: CBS’ Bob Schieffer: “It Just Didn't Have That Spark.” SCHIEFFER: “But this as not the kind of speech that Bill Clinton made last night. It just didn't have that spark.” (CBS, 9/6/12)

6: The Washington Post: “A Mixed First-Term Record … Rhetoric Has Not Been Enough To Overcome The Problems The President Faces.” “...rhetoric has not been enough to overcome the problems the president faces … Words can’t end the war in Afghanistan, fix a still-staggering economy or close a huge budget deficit...” (The Washington Post, 9/6/12)

5: Politico: “Obama And Vice President Joe Biden All But Ignored The Affordable Care Act.” “Barack Obama's health care law consumed much of his presidency and much of the Democratic National Convention, but you wouldn't have known it Thursday night. In back-to-back speeches, Obama and Vice President Joe Biden all but ignored the Affordable Care Act.” (Joanne Kenen, “Obama's DNC Speech All But Ignores 'Obamacare',” Politico, 9/6/12)

4: The Washington Post: “Gone Was The Huge Stadium Crowd That Flocked To Hear Him Speak In An Almost Messianic Setting Four Years Ago…” ...Gone also were the replica Greek columns that stood as a symbol of his grand ambition when Barack Obama accepted the Democratic nomination for president in 2008.” (The Washington Post, 9/6/12)

3: University Of Virginia’s Larry Sabato: “It Was Purgatorial.” “I see the usual suspects (love you all) are either praising Obama's talk to high heaven, or damning it to hell. No, it was purgatorial.” (Twitter.com, 9/6/12)

2: CNN’s Wolf Blitzer: “A Lot Of Stuff We’ve Heard Before.” ... “Going on to the next chapter right now, Jessica Yellin, our Chief White House Correspondent. You sat with me. We listened together. I thought there would be more specifics. There were a lot of goals expressed, generalities, a lot of stuff we’ve heard before. I didn't hear any specific new initiative that the President unveiled.” (CNN, 9/6/12)

1: ABC News’ Rick Klein: “Strange Silence Prevailing In The Arena.” “Almost no confetti at #DNC2012, and strange silence prevailing in the arena” (Twitter.com, 9/6/12)

No tingles were harmed in the creation of this list, as Chris Matthews could not be reached at press time.

Stop-Action Photo Sequence: Elizabeth "Fauxcahontas" Warren's Driver Attacks Citizen Journalist

After pushing around the cameraman on public property and trying to destroy his camera, the midget punk says "You're messing around with the wrong people."

He got that right. These people have no business serving in public office. They're the wrong people to be entrusted with anything as complex as government. We're messing around with would-be despots, who apparently lie their way into positions of responsibility and despise a true free press.

Do the people of Massachusetts really want to be led by lying weasel-sacks surrounded by goons with Napoleon complexes? I find it hard to believe they are.

If you know folks in Massachusetts, help make this story go viral.

David Axelrod's not gonna fall for a banana in the tailpipe again!

Methinks it will be quite a while before the President's Senior Red Diaper Baby appears with Chris Wallace again.

Want a preview of the presidential debates? Then spend two and a half minutes with this clip from today’s Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace and David Axelrod. Wallace asks Axelrod the quadrennial question: are voters better off now than four years ago?

...When the man running Team Obama tries to run away from the question by talking about the tough environment Barack Obama inherited, Wallace lays out the comparison on economic statistics between January 2009 and today, and asks Axelrod again: are voters better off now than four years ago? Answer: Er...

Here are the stats Wallace uses:

• Unemployment: 7.8% then, 8.3% now
• Median income: $54,983 then, $50,964 now
• Gas prices: $1.85 per gallon then, $3.78 now
• National debt: $10.6 trillion then, $15.9 trillion now

Expect Mitt Romney to memorize these statistics, and perhaps toss in the civilian participation rate, which was at 65.7% in January 2009 and in June 2009 at the start of the “recovery,” but fell to a 30-year low of 63.6% in April and is at 63.7% now.

Axelrod needs friendlier questions, you see, which means only ABC, CBS, NBC, MNSBC and CNN will do.

Completely clueless MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry believes America is the worst country on Earth...

Her exact quote: What in the world is riskier than being a poor person in America?:

“What is riskier than living poor in America? Seriously! What in the world is riskier than being a poor person in America? I live in a neighborhood where people are shot on my street corner. I live in a neighborhood where people have to figure out how to get their kid into school because maybe it will be a good school and maybe it won’t. I am sick of the idea that being wealthy is risky. No! …Being poor is what is risky!

We have to create a safety net for poor people. And when we won’t, because they happen to look different from us, it is the pervasive ugliness.

Never mind that the country has spent tens of trillions of dollars on Melissa's "Great Society", Section-8 plantations. Never mind that the U.S. has to borrow 40 cents of every dollar it spends. And never mind that Democrats have refused to pass a budget ever since Barack Obama took office.

Never mind all that. Simply consider the lunacy of this MSNBC crackpot.

In Pakistan, women are murdered or disfigured for failing to wear the Niqab (full body covering).

Yesterday, the Pakistani unit of the Taliban announced not only that it demands “unislamic” businesses to close (CD shops, cable service providers and internet cafes) - they also warned women that they have 15 days to start wearing hijab - or have their faces maimed with acid... These guys claim to be out to destroy the “traitors of Allah” - while they go against every Qur’anic command to respect human rights.

...Now, an acid-maiming campaign is being launched - openly - against Pakistani women. Unlike when communities have been taken by surprise, the Pakistani Taliban has stated their gruesome, disgusting mission publicly. We cannot claim shock this time around.

• In India, acid is thrown on women's faces for failing to cover up:

UNICEF once reported a story about a baby girl whose father poured acid into her mouth because she was not the boy he wanted his wife to bring into the world. She grew up unable to speak or hear...

...Despite his years of training, [Doctor] Jawad admits that he was shocked, "I had not seen anything like it before. I had seen bigger burns and on a younger patient, but never facial burns of this nature. Unless acid is neutralised it just keeps going deeper and deeper into your skin. All of the patients I had treated had been the victims of accidents – this was attempted murder." In a pioneering operation, Jawad used Matriderm – a synthetic skin substitute – to re-form her face. It had such impressive results that Piper referred to the surgeon as her "hero".

Consider Harris-Perry reason #5,034 never, ever to watch MSLSD.

She knows nothing of logic, or reason, or of world history, or of the default condition of human-kind. She's never learned philosophy or economics. She has no idea how precious and fragile America is. She's never had to balance a budget. She's never visited the Sudan, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Cuba, or the old Soviet Union.

She is a lifelong Democrat and a simpleton. But I repeat myself.

Vote accordingly in November.

Clownboy 2000: "Unhinged", "Hysterical" Chris Matthews Gets Into Ugly Confrontation With GOP Delegates

What's a lifelong Democrat operative to do?

MSNBC host Chris Matthews got into a heated exchange with Republican delegates at a Tampa restaurant early Friday morning following the conclusion of the GOP national convention.

Matthews was booed and sworn at as he was leaving the Tinatapas restaurant, which is near the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Matthews turned back and confronted the taunting GOP officials... He headed back into the restaurant to mix it up with them. “I wanted to confront them,” Matthews said, describing his exchange with the men as “towel-snapping” among guys.

Matthews said he told the rowdy group, “What’s this, a douchebag convention?”

The Republicans became angry and retorted back... “I told him that’s next week," said New York delegate Anthony Nunziato, referring to the Democratic convention in Charlotte, N.C., that will start on Tuesday.

...New York City Councilman Eric Ulrich, a GOP delegate, waved to him. But Matthews snubbed Ulrich, according to Bacarella... Ulrich then attempted to acknowledge Matthews as the "Hardball" host exited the restaurant, a gesture that Matthews answered with a "dirty look," prompting loud boos from other delegates at the restaurant, Bacarella said.

One convention-goer yelled out "hey, a--hole," to Matthews, at which point the combative host walked back toward the hostile bunch.

The delegates said that they asked Matthews whether he had gotten a [tingling] thrilling sensation from Mitt Romney’s speech on Thursday night, and Matthews responded that he had not.

Following a 2008 speech by then-presidential candidate Barack Obama, Matthews said, "I felt this thrill going up my leg."

The “Hardball” host made news earlier this week after he got into a heated argument on "Morning Joe" with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus. Matthews accused the GOP and the Romney campaign of playing the race card.

Priebus said Matthews's comments were “garbage,” and Matthews responded, "It's your garbage."

The RNC head subsequently called Matthews "unhinged" and "hysterical."

Chris Matthews -- a professional Democrat hack throughout his career -- is a disgrace. And he's one of the major reasons that MSNBC gets lower ratings than airport radar and sonograms.

What do we do all day?

The average (employed) American "spends 9 hours, 12 minutes, and 36 seconds 'Working & Commuting' on an average workday."

Since this survey data primarily reflects working Americans, Democrat viewpoints were largely omitted.

Reason #4,617 That I Love Allen West

In a completely masculine and heterosexual way, of course:

After this morning’s ... “Fresh From Florida” breakfast, Congressman Allen West addressed a media gaggle and was asked by a TCPalm reporter about his publication’s editorial board.

“I don’t want your endorsement, I want you to continue to endorse the other guy.”

For those of you unfamiliar, the TCPalm website is the primary mainstream media publication that covers the Treasure Coast area, and it’s a publication hostile to West. TC Palm’s site routinely publishes puff pieces on Murphy as well as Murphy’s almost certainly ghostwritten op-eds.

With a few dozen more Allen Wests in Congress, we could really return this country to Constitutional government -- and unleash the private sector.

Allen West is in a tough race. You can help him out here.

"A Conclave of Lily-White Racists"

I refer, of course, to vintage media -- the biggest collection of lily-white racists I've ever encountered. Consider the following incidents (all "coincidental", mind you):

NBC and MSNBC inexcusably censored every... single... African-American and Latino who spoke at yesterday's Republican convention -- ignoring two of the best speeches of the night, those of Mia Love and Artur Davis -- in a move reminiscent of a modern-day Invisible Man

Chris Matthews openly expressed his inexcusable belief that only blacks are on foodstamps

ABC News broadcast Yahoo's Washington bureau chief asserting that the Romneys "are happy to have a party [i.e., the convention] when black people drown", presumably as a severe storm threatens the Gulf Coast

• And blatant coordination between the Democrat National Committee and old media -- including The Los Angeles Times, Politico, and other outlets -- appears intended to de-legitimize and dehumanize any minority who dares stand up to the Statist agenda

To paraphrase the loathsome Janeane Garafolo, "this is racism straight up". That's how the Democrat-Media complex thinks. That's how they operate.

And they intend to do whatever it takes to keep dumbing down the electorate. How else can they maintain their white-knuckled grip on power as their failed "Great Society", Section 8 plantation implodes?

In his seminal work Liberty and Tyranny, Mark Levin reminds us why the free market system is the most productive, benevolent, and unbiased of all economic systems:

The free market creates more wealth and more opportunites for more people than any other economic model. This is exactly why the Left -- be they socialists, or Marxists, or left-leaning Democrats -- attack it relentlessly.

That's why they lie, describing the free market as the cause of the current financial crisis. But it was in fact they, through onerous and arbitrary regulation and out-of-control governmental appendages like Fannie Mae, who twisted and distorted the free market.

The free market promotes self worth, self-sufficiency, shared values, and honest dealings. That doesn't mean to say there aren't crooks: they exist in every endeavor (especially government). But when you consider the trillions of transactions that make up the free market, the number of crooks is relatively tiny.

The free market enhances the individual, the family and the community. And it discriminates against no race, religion or gender.

The truck driver does not know the skin color of the individual who helped create the diesel fuel that powers his vehicle.

The cook does not know the religion of the dairy farmers who delivers milk to his restaurant.

The airline passenger does not know the gender of the factory workers who manufactured a critical component of the aircraft.

Nor do they care. The free market is an intricate system of voluntary economic, social and cultural interaction that are motivated by the desires and needs of the individual and the community.

All people who love liberty should join us. All people who revere our founding and our history should join the Constitutional Conservatism movement. Because we welcome all people, no matter the race, religion, creed or color. Join with us to preserve this, the most magnificent society ever seen on Earth.

Join us. Before it's too late.

My New Chris Matthews Bumper Sticker

After Newt Gingrich shredded Chris Matthews on air for his shockingly racist thought processes, Robert Stacy McCain executed the rhetorical coup de grace.

In case you didn't realize it, the only claim Matthews has to being a journalist is that he is a partisan Democrat. Matthews never worked a day as a reporter, never covered a city council meeting or a homecoming parade. After evading the Vietnam-era military draft by enrolling in the Peace Corps, Matthews moved to Washington and worked on the staff of various congressional Democrats before unsuccessfully running for Congress as a Democrat, later joining the White House staff as a speechwriter for Democrat Jimmy Carter, then spending the Reagan years as a top aide to Democrat House Speaker Tip O'Neill.

Somehow, this ultra-political background as a partisan operative qualified Matthews for the job of Washington bureau chief for the San Francisco Chronicle. Such is the biography of the man who has been employed for the past 15 years as a "journalist" by NBC, hosting his own show on the network's little-watched MSNBC cable franchise while appearing regularly on the broadcast network during coverage of major political events.

For most of you reading along, "MNSBC" is a cable channel that recycles Media Matters press releases as "hard news". Which explains why you've never heard of it.

Nola.com: Hurricane Isaac heading west to Mississippi, Alabama border; may disappoint crazed theocrats on the Left

The outstanding track records of meteorologists notwithstanding, it would appear that Tampa and the GOP convention will be spared Hurricane Isaac's wrath.

The National Hurricane Center has shifted the landfall of Isaac west to Dauphin Island, Ala., with landfall at 1 a.m. Wednesday as a Category 2 hurricane. NHC forecasters say Isaac will have maximum sustained winds of 105 mph and have posted a hurricane watch stretching from the mouth of the Mississippi River to Indian Pass, Fla., including lower Plaquemines and St. Bernard parishes. The New Orleans metropolitan area is not included in the warning area.

But forecasters warned that confidence in the storm's long-range track forecast "is quite low, and it is too early to determine exactly where and when Isaac will make landfall along the Gulf Coast."

"Further adjustments to the track may be necessary later today," wrote Senior Hurricane Specialist Michael Brennan in his 4 a.m. discussion message.

Much of southeast Louisiana remains within the "cone of uncertainty," which outlines the possible forecast track error.

The Slidell office of the National Weather Service is forecasting winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts of 50 mph, for the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain on Tuesday night and early Wednesday. Along the coast, the winds are expected to reach 35 to 40 mph, with gusts to 60, and likely increasing.

The crazed theocrat Dana Milbank hardest hit.

Say, remember when Barack Obama listed his birthplace as Kenya to make himself appear more exotic and marketable to publishers?

As Jim Treacher reminds us, Obama himself was the O.B. [Original Birther]:

At some point over the next few days, until the next Election 2012 outrage crops up, a lefty may start shrieking “BIRTHER!!!” at you because Romney made an attempt at humor. If that happens, all you have to do is show the shrieking lefty this [at right]

This was the author bio Obama provided to his literary agent in 1991, and it was uncovered months ago by our friends at Breitbart.com. Obama used this bio for over 15 years, and it was revised a number of times. But he only changed it to indicate his true place of birth, Hawaii, once he decided to run for president.

He has yet to explain why he lied in the first place, but he doesn’t have to. He lied because he’s Barack Obama, and that’s what Barack Obama does.

So just show that to your high-strung lib friend, and watch the cognitive dissonance reduce what’s left of his or her brain to an even less cohesive puddle of mush. Better’n anything on the TV, at least.

You can read the entire curious history of revisions to the Obama biography here:

And, if prompted, remind your liberal friends who the O.B. really is.
