MEDIA FAIL: Photo accompanying story on airport bars sets new, all-time "inappropriateness" record
It's those "layers and layers" of editors and fact-checkers, don't ya know?
Outsourcing photo selection and editing to the Middle East would be the only logical explanation for this choice.
...while watching a plane take off from Boston’s Logan Airport might give you a lovely image framed by the city’s skyscrapers, we’re not entirely sure this was the best image WBZ4 in Boston should have used alongside a story on Boston’s best airport bars. It’s just so… “plane crashy,” we think, is the technical term.
...Unless, of course, you want to give the impression that some airport Chili’s franchises offer an El NiƱo® Margarita so good even the pilots can’t get enough. In which case: It’s perfect.
Outsourcing photo selection and editing to the Middle East would be the only logical explanation for this choice.

CHART: The Democrat-Lite Party's Amnesty Delusion
The Democrat-Lite Party is what I call the RINO establishment. With data from Pew Research (hat tip: Free Republic), let's examine the historic trend line of Hispanic support for Democrats and Republicans.
Please note: whether Republicans support amnesty or not, the share of the Latino vote captured by Republican candidates stays in the same narrow band.
Because, as has been explained over and over and over again, Hispanic support for Democrats has nothing to do with "amnesty".
Hey, Boehner: you listening?
Please note: whether Republicans support amnesty or not, the share of the Latino vote captured by Republican candidates stays in the same narrow band.
Because, as has been explained over and over and over again, Hispanic support for Democrats has nothing to do with "amnesty".
Hey, Boehner: you listening?
HEY, BOEHNER AND KRISTOL: Yes, by all means, let's go back to the Clinton-era tax rates!
I want to address the rocket scientist RINOs typified by House Speaker John Boehner and commentator William Kristol, both of whom have expressed a willingness to "compromise" with Democrats and raise taxes on "millionaires". And by "millionaires", they of course mean any individual making over $200,000 and any family making over $250,000. And, as everyone knows, a substantial number of these folks are small business owners, who account for roughly half of all the jobs created by small business.
I would like to unleash a rant on these two, but first, please read this item spotted while surfing the web.
What Mr. Kristol and Mr. Boehner don't understand -- aside from basic arithemetic, logic, history and reason -- is that small business doesn't need to tighten its belt. Government does.
But why, asks the President, can't we go back to Clinton-era tax rates? That seems reasonable, right?
Oh, sure. We can go back to Clinton-era tax rates.
Just as soon as we go back to Clinton-era housing prices.
And Clinton-era college tuition prices.
And Clinton-era health insurance premiums.
And Clinton-era state, local and property taxes.
You starting to get the picture, geniuses? Democrats are never satisfied! Never! In good times and bad, government grows like an enormous, metastasizing tumor, eroding our liberty and eating away at our private property rights.
Democrats tamper with housing prices (see: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) and they destroy the housing industry. They back student loans, making it easy for colleges to raise tuition prices far faster than the rate of inflation. They nationalize health care for the elderly, indigent (and now, everyone) and health care prices skyrocket.
Democrats grow the government. That's what they do.
In other words, Democrats constantly try to evade the very Constitution they took an oath to uphold! They incessantly evade the very document that was explicitly designed to check their own corrupting ambitions!
And accomplices like Boehner and Kristol don't have the common sense to even figure out that they are being played. In fact, guys like this aren't real Republicans. They are Democrats Lite. They're a slightly watered down version of the Marxist Left; they are so addicted to the concentration of power in Washington that they can't even see the diminishing circle of liberty -- a veritable noose -- tightening around our collective necks.
Boehner, Kristol, Rove, and the rest of these Democrats Lite must be ridiculed at every turn. They must be mocked. They need to be shunned. And they need to be cast out from the real Republican Party.
They're not statesmen, they're not thoughtful, and -- worst of all -- they're not leaders. They are useless and they need to be ignored.
I would like to unleash a rant on these two, but first, please read this item spotted while surfing the web.
I’m a California Republican (I know, masochistic, right?) and the local talk radio is full of small business owners calling in and discussing their plans.
One man, owner of a trucking firm in Ventura — 75 employees, $6 million payroll — discussed how even as times have been tough over the last few years, he’s made it a point to make his payroll, even dipping into his own savings.
He was walking by the breakroom and heard some of his employees snickering about the election and they had wanted Obama to stay President to make sure the rich pay. He then thought “what am I putting myself at risk?" He then went and canceled his order for six new trucks (approximately $600,000 worth of an order) and is planning to layoff 20 or more people.
What Mr. Kristol and Mr. Boehner don't understand -- aside from basic arithemetic, logic, history and reason -- is that small business doesn't need to tighten its belt. Government does.

COMPARE AND CONTRAST D VS. R CAMPAIGN ISSUES: Sad.
Radio host Joe Pags compares the messages of the two campaigns and just shakes his head:
Sad, isn't it?
Hat tip: MOTUS.
Let’s face facts. Democrats gained in the House of Representatives, the Senate and the chief Democrat in charge was re-elected after one of the worst four year periods in American history, economically and constitutionally. How does that happen? Republicans/Conservatives (which are not necessarily interchangeable terms — but, we’ll lump them together for the sake of this column) gave voters credit for being smart while Democrats assumed they’re not. Let’s break down what Obama, Pelosi, Reid, the Obama SuperPACs, et all were saying for a year and a half:
• Republicans are prosecuting a war on women
• Romney only cares about his rich friends and Wall Street
• Romney is responsible for the death of a woman by somehow giving her cancer
• Romney specialized in closing down businesses, laying people off and outsourcing jobs — especially to China
• Romney is a liar. All he does is lie. And, after he lies, he lies about the lies he told.
• Republicans are trying to outlaw contraception
• Republicans are trying to close down Planned Parenthood to stop women from getting cancer screenings
• Republicans want to put all Latinos on buses and send them back to Mexico
• Republicans think rape is okay — and women should just stop talking about it
• Republicans all own stock in oil companies and are forcing gas prices up
• Republicans want to give rich people a tax break and make the poor and Middle Class to make up the difference
• Romney hates half the country (47%)
• Romney will end Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid
Only problem with that list is, not one bit of it is true. Republicans/conservatives assumed everyone hearing this list of Democrat/liberal talking points would know it was completely false. They gave the American people credit for being smart enough to know better. Millions are and do — but, unfortunately, more millions aren't and don't. Here’s a list filled with the absolute truth about the last four years:
• Gas prices doubled
• Obama said no to the Keystone XL Pipeline
• Obama sent billions to Brazil to drill there
• Food prices have soared
• Unemployment is higher than the day he took office
• Obama apologized around the world for the United States of America
• His DOJ refused to prosecute voter intimidation by the New Black Panther Party
• Obama promised to cut the debt in half in his first four years — has doubled it
• Obama will now cut military spending
• Obama refuses to answer questions on what happened the night four Americans died in Benghazi
• Obama has used Executive Privilege to continue stonewalling on Fast and Furious
• Obama has bragged about bypassing Congress repeatedly
• Obama has sued states for passing immigration laws
• Obama has sued states for passing Voter ID laws
• Obama and the Dems forced through Obamacare by lying about abortion and raising taxes
• Obama ran on a platform to raise taxes in his second term
• Obama blew billions on failed energy companies
• Obama has grown government to its biggest size in history
• Obama told Russia he can do more after the election
• Obama told NASA to include Muslims more
• Obama flip-flopped on gay marriage
• Obama is forcing religions to offer contraception even if it goes against their beliefs
• Obama is the most vehement supporter of abortion we've ever had in the White House
These are all facts. That's just a short list of what this wannabe dictator has done in four years and Republicans/conservatives know how outrageous this administration has been and made a bad assumption that the American people were smart and would know how horrible these things are and this administration has been. Bad assumptions.
Americans love great actors, entertainers, people who smile and come off as sincere. They also react positively to pandering — as long as it’s well-disguised. Romney should have, at every opportunity, called Obama out on that list. He didn’t. Every time Obama called him a liar, Romney should have hit him back with, "are you out of your mind? You..." and list the failures and dictator-like moves of the last four years.
What Ds/Ls have perfected is the art of the con job. Obama and his minions are confidence men and women. They con the American public with what most want to hear. They win the election, then do the exact opposite in the hopes of expanding the scope, power and dominance of government over all of us. Time for the other side to do the same thing.
Sad, isn't it?

And, about blogging...
Fausta, a longtime compatriot, just posted the following missive.
The Blogmistress General, Tabitha Hale, wrote back to Fausta with some words of wisdom:
I responded as well.
Winter is coming.
I am considering ceasing to blog on politics.
For eight years I have posted on serious issues taking place in our hemisphere that affect our everyday lives, and, to be honest, I’ve about had it. Every post on Latin America takes time researching sources from the country in Spanish, French or Portuguese, plus English-language reports. And what for? The American media and the American public would care more if the Iranians were making deals with Martians than they care if Hezbollah makes deals with the Zetas right in our own country.
The American politics posts draw more traffic but are clearly out of the mainstream of a coddled, self-absorbed electorate that thinks their vaginas, their abortions, and their welfare checks are more important than national security, chronic unemployment and respect for the Constitution.
Half the country doesn’t even pay federal income taxes. They do not value the effort of those of us who do.
The reelection of Obama ensures a weak economy, which in turn ensures that I will remain unemployed as a translator. At the same time, I have always been interested in literacy. Therefore, I’m considering blogging my Spanish-to-English translation work so it’s available for free for whoever may want to read it or not.
...And to hell with politics.
The Blogmistress General, Tabitha Hale, wrote back to Fausta with some words of wisdom:
Take a couple days. I called a friend last night and said I was done as well. It's hard to figure out why we do it sometimes - I am still struggling with it. It's a huge commitment, one that takes time and energy away from other things we love. For me, I realized that the truth was that I cared too much. I need to do this. I love the people, I love freedom and I love my country. Even if I quit tomorrow, I don't think I could really quit. I wrote this in an email to another list this morning. Maybe it'll help:
The Morning After
This is just one election. We will still fight. We have to.
Thanks for everything you do, Fausta. Whatever you decide, I hope you don't disappear.
I responded as well.
Agreed. Give it a couple of weeks of contemplation. Write a work of fiction. Relax and try to decompress.
We still live in the greatest country on Earth.
Our forebears went through hell to create this great land. They risked everything: life, limb, property.
They knew that defeat was certain only with surrender.
"Give me liberty or give me death"?
Our ancestors' sacrifices were too great and ours too meager to surrender.
Not now. Not ever.
Winter is coming.
The Big Election Post-Mortem Pundit Post

Monica Crowley:
Jim Geraghty, again:
And lastly: me, for what it's worth:
Hurricane Sandy and Crispy Creme Christie didn't lose the election. Racism didn't lose the election. Lack of pandering to various ethnic groups didn't lose the election.
Lack of money didn't lose the election. The choice of Paul Ryan as VP didn't lose the election. Mitt Romney didn't lose the election.
A corrupt Democrat Party and an equally corrupt Vintage Media lost this election.
Folks, whether you are Democrat or Republican, we are set on a course for fiscal collapse.
The math is simple, certain -- and not something with which you can negotiate.
President Obama's debt trajectory of $25+ trillion -- and the Democrats' refusal to pass a budget -- are not matters of conjecture. These points can't be debated.
America just reelected the most fiscally irresponsible government in world history.
No government in world history had ever run a trillion-dollar deficit until Barack Obama and the 110th Congress came along; he has since rung up four such deficits in a row.
No country can survive these levels of debt.
The postmodern Democrat Party and -- most importantly -- old media are responsible for the misery that is to come.
The progressives' plans for unraveling the Constitution have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. If you look at the agenda of the Fabian Socialists, virtually every tenet has come to pass thanks to FDR, LBJ, Carter, Clinton, Bush and now Obama. Unchecked retirement benefits, rampant proliferation of public sector unions, the takeover of the educational system with progressive curricula, the moral decay of America's youth promoted by the likes of MTV, unchecked illegal immigration and Balkanization, "free" health care, "free" welfare and a myriad of other entitlements have set the country on a course for institutionalized dependency and -- I can assure you with mathematical certainty -- a fiscal calamity.
The only question now is: how much economic pain will people endure (Kroger and Darden Restaurants being the latest examples of Obama's "concern" for the lower-middle class) before they reject the doomed policies of the collectivist? Or will a true economic collapse, war, or other unforeseen events first conspire to shred what remains of the civil society?
We're either reliving the New Deal or the Weimar Republic, but I can't tell which.
Phil Klein noted that the exit polls indicated Romney won voters 65 and older by 11 percentage points. So one could argue that the Ryan reform proposals weren't quite as politically difficult to sell as some warned, but . . . the Romney-Ryan campaign offered serious reform of runaway entitlement programs. And the American people -- or at least enough people in enough states adding up to more than 270 electoral votes -- rejected it.
I feel a bit like when Jerry Brown beat Meg Whitman out in California: If you really think that the guy with the tired promises of spending more and taxing more is really going to save you, I can't help you.
Jedidiah Bila:
I always hear "We are a center-right country."
No. A center-right country does not elect Barack Obama twice.
Time to re-evaluate.
Peter Ingemi:
We conservatives will have to double our efforts to teach but the results of the next four years under Barack Obama will do that more effectively than anything else.
Experience keeps a dear school, yet Fools will learn in no other. Get ready America you are about to have a four-year course and the joys of socialism with a president who no longer has an incentive to pretend he is anything but the radical he has always been.
May you be Happy in the choice you have made because you’re not going to get another one for four years.
John Brodigan:
Meh, we lost.
Romney was the best of our choices in the primary.
He put Paul Ryan on a national stage, and my money is on Ryan being Speaker of the House.
We start off with our best on the bench for 2016.
We held the House. We can take the Senate in two.
Take a break from the Internets tomorrow.
The Republic stands. God bless America.
Monica Crowley:
A very slight majority---but a majority---of the American people KNOWINGLY chose four more years (at least) of high unemployment, anemic economic growth, break-the-bank spending, unsustainable and record-breaking deficits and debt, unpopular and bankrupting socialized medicine, and record numbers of people on food stamps and living in poverty. They KNOWINGLY chose four more years ... of this.
...When Obama came into office in January 2009, he had three main, overarching goals: first, to expand government as fast and as widely as possible; the ultimate objective of that was to expand the number of people dependent of government as fast and as widely as possible; and the ultimate objective of THAT was to leverage it into a permanent Democrat voting majority. If you are getting a constant stream of freebies from a government promising to stick it to the other guy while providing you with cradle-to-grave "security," you are less likely to vote out the guy doling out the free stuff.
Obama had a multi-pronged strategy to achieve those three goals, but two were particularly effective. First, he chose a path of divide and conquer to pit Americans against each other in order to make it easier to slide in his radical redistributionist agenda. He divided us by class, gender, race, and age. He turned the American motto, "E Pluribus Unum" ("Out of Many, One") upside down. It is now, "Out of One, Many." The American experiment cannot go on as it once did driven by divisions and envy rather than uniting values and common goals.
Jim Geraghty, again:
And just think, Obama thought he inherited a lot of problems back in 2009.
And lastly: me, for what it's worth:
Hurricane Sandy and Crispy Creme Christie didn't lose the election. Racism didn't lose the election. Lack of pandering to various ethnic groups didn't lose the election.

BOOM: Hey, How's That "Ignoring Benghazi" Strategy Working Out for Antique Media?
Let's compare Mondays -- one before Benghazi, one after -- and remove as much noise as we can from the equation (debates, Hurricane Sandy, etc.).
Fox News must be praying that the Leftist kooks running the other cable news operations continue their embargo on the biggest political scandal since Watergate.

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: Careers Will Be Destroyed by Benghazi
Stanford Fellow Victor Davis Hanson offers a historian's perspective on the catastrophe in Benghazi.
Hanson's next column should deal with the historic malfeasance of old media, a wholly owned subsidiary of the federal government.
Hat tip: Ame.
...When the government systematically misleads and cannot establish a believable narrative, almost everyone involved is eventually tarred. The final chart of those officials in the Nixon White House who were devoured by Watergate was vast — and so it is becoming with the disaster in Libya. If we have learned anything from Watergate and Iran-Contra, it is that the longer officials deceive and obfuscate, the greater the number of wrecked careers and reputations...
...Most likely, the political wing of the White House almost immediately made a decision that the attack on our Benghazi consulate should not endanger the conventional narrative of a successful commander-in-chief — ahead in the polls in part because he had highlighted a supposedly successful foreign policy. Key to that story was the notion that the hit on bin Laden and the drone attacks on other Islamists had rendered al-Qaeda all but impotent...
...In such a landscape, Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans were brutally murdered. And almost immediately it was clear that the ambassador had earlier warned that Libya was descending into chaos and that Americans were not safe there — only to have his requests for further protection rejected.
During the actual assault on the consulate, a real-time video, streams of e-mail exchanges, and surveys of Islamist websites confirmed that al-Qaedists were carrying out a preplanned assassination — and over the next seven or eight hours it became clear that our staff was in dire need of military assistance that was somehow never sent. Then for nearly two weeks, the president, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, Press Secretary Jay Carney, and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice advanced a counter-narrative that simply could not have been true: A spontaneous demonstration over a two-month-old video — just happening to coincide with the anniversary of 9/11 — got out of hand as some disruptive protesters showed up with machines gun, mortars, and RPGs and began killing Americans. Since it was an American religious bigot who had prompted such terrible but “natural” riots with his video that ridiculed and injured Islam, we should apologize for the uncouth among us in the strongest terms.
Obama, Clinton, Clapper, Rice, and Carney strove to outdo each other in damning the obscure video maker — to such an extent that he was summarily arrested on a supposedly outstanding probation charge. The message? Ambassadors die and careful U.S. foreign policy is undermined when right-wing bigots abuse their free-speech rights...
Hanson's next column should deal with the historic malfeasance of old media, a wholly owned subsidiary of the federal government.

Creaky, Partisan, Antique Media Finally Wakes Up: "President Obama has a problem with independents"
And the owners of The New York Times and The Washington Post wonder why their papers are bleeding out?
For months, independents have been breaking for Romney by double-digits, yet only within the last couple of days has vintage media seen fit to report this inconvenient truth.
Now even if Democrats match GOP turnout -- which is unlikely -- the margin of independents breaking for the GOP are going to make Nate Silver look like Nostradumbass. Just like 2010.
But that's why they're called "vintage media".
President Obama has a problem with independents. And it’s not a small problem.
In the last three releases of the tracking poll conducted by The Washington Post and ABC News, Obama has trailed former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney among independent voters by between 16 and 20 percentage points.
That’s a striking reversal from 2008, when Obama won independent voters, who made up 29 percent of the electorate, by eight points over Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

SMELLS LIKE DESPERATION: Krugman, Reich resort to name-calling, denial when confronted with reality
As if binders, Big Bird, bayonets and dunce caps haven't sufficiently embarrassed Democrats, the half-pint nitwit named Robert Reich, a former Clinton crony and full-time Leftist crank adds to the classy repartee:
Here's another mature take, this one from the loathsome troll Paul Krugman.
Gee. That's convincing.
Meanwhile, back in the little land we like to call "reality", the anger of the American people is becoming palpable.
Oh, "Doctors" Reich and Krugman, I'm sure the unraveling Benghazi scandal will dramatically improve turnout for Democrats.
Write it down: 2010 is going to look like a warm-up compared to what's going to happen on November 6th. That's why I've been using the hashtag #Beatdown2012, and I encourage you to use it too.
By Wednesday morning, Messrs. Krugman and Reich will have badly soiled their Depends.
Not all Republicans are racist, homophobic, misogynistic, or xenophobic. Only 73% of them are.

Here's another mature take, this one from the loathsome troll Paul Krugman.
Gee. That's convincing.
Meanwhile, back in the little land we like to call "reality", the anger of the American people is becoming palpable.
Yesterday's seven-day Gallup tracker showed Romney increasing his lead overnight by two points -- 47-50% to 46-51%. The last time Romney was below fifty in this poll was almost two weeks ago, on October 14. Since the move to likely voters, Obama has yet to reach 50% in Gallup and hasn't even been able to reach 48% since October 1.
...Today's three-day Rasmussen tracker shows Romney leading 50-46%. That's a one-point increase over yesterday's 50-47%. Romney also increased his lead by two points in the Rasmussen tracking poll of the eleven combined swing states. Today the former Massachusetts governor sits at 51%, while the former community organizer languished at 45%. Those six-points represent Romney's best lead yet. Quite incredibly, Obama led this poll by three points ten days ago. That's a nine-point swing towards Romney.

SPOT THE TREND: Nate Silver Edition
Jay Cost asks, "What inferences would you draw from this picture?"
I draw three, myself:
• According to Nate Silver, the odds of Obama winning every state just rose to 96.345%
• According to Taegan Goddard, the President is on a huge roll
• And according to Paul Krugman, QE3 is already a tremendous success

FAUXCAHONTAS FOR PREZIDIZZLE: The funniest news story you'll read this week, guaranteed
Chris Wysocki just burned his nostrils (hat tip: Papa B).
Uhm, media schmucks: here's a news flash. Elizabeth Warren has about as much chance of serving as President as Kim Kardashian has of being named the next Pope.
As part of my morning routine I check a few news sites for blog fodder: NJ.com, Fox, and Yahoo News being the usual suspects. And Bingo! Yahoo gets today's prize. It's a doozy, too. Top of their page, more important than Benghazi-gate (buried at the bottom), but below Donald Trump's latest idiocy:
Elizabeth Warren for president 2016?
Fauxcahontas! For President! Because one lying crapweasel in the White House wasn't enough!
Bwahahahahaha!
Obama hasn't even lost yet. And Lie-awatha hasn't defeated Scott Brown, let alone served a day in the U.S. Senate. But hey, a girl who exploits affirmative action for fun and profit can dream, right?
Thanks fans of Elizabeth Fauxcahontas Crockagawea Lie-awatha Warren, you made me snort coffee out of my nose this morning!
Uhm, media schmucks: here's a news flash. Elizabeth Warren has about as much chance of serving as President as Kim Kardashian has of being named the next Pope.

ALLRED VS. TRUMP: Battle of the October Surprises
If it's October in an election year, you can be sure that Democrats are unsealing "sealed" court records to tar their opponents. Remember the 2004 Senate race in which Obama's henchmen unsealed the "sealed" divorce proceedings of multiple opponents?
This year liberal crackpot and professional embarrassment Gloria Allred has stepped up to act as the designated Axelrod proxy in a last-ditch effort to salvage the sinking Obama campaign:
But you can tell that Obama's opposition isn't at the McCain level of incompetence:
Starring Donald Trump as the anti-Allred! London's Daily Mail seems to have a preview:
William Jacobson offers a salient reflection:
In the event of offsetting embarrassments, the election goes on.
This year liberal crackpot and professional embarrassment Gloria Allred has stepped up to act as the designated Axelrod proxy in a last-ditch effort to salvage the sinking Obama campaign:
...Gloria Allred will be in a Boston area courtroom Wednesday in an attempt to unseal the sworn testimony given by Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, in a prior court case...
"The Boston Globe is headed to court tomorrow morning for an emergency hearing in an attempt to obtain a court order to unseal the sworn testimony given by Mitt Romney in a prior court case and to lift a gag order so that the parties can speak about Romney. Gloria Allred will be in court representing one of the parties in the case..."
The emergency hearing will take place at the Norfolk Probate & Family Court in Canton, Massachusetts, and Justice Jennifer Ulwick will oversee the proceedings which will begin at 9 a.m. EST.
But you can tell that Obama's opposition isn't at the McCain level of incompetence:
HIgh above the Alps my Gnome has heard that Donald Trump will announce that he has unearthed divorce papers between the Prez and his wife.

Starring Donald Trump as the anti-Allred! London's Daily Mail seems to have a preview:
Donald Trump is to claim that he has unearthed divorce papers of Michelle Obama and the President, according to a respected financial pundit with links to the tycoon.
It is alleged that the eccentric real estate mogul will claim that the documents show the First Lady and the President were at one point in their two decades of marriage seriously considering splitting up.
William Jacobson offers a salient reflection:
Everyone is waiting for October Surprises to be unloaded on Romney.
The Obama campaign and its supporters are desperate, and that desperation will reach a fevered pitch this weekend if Obama doesn’t get a meaningful bounce out of last night’s debate. Few are predicting he will.
I consider this a shot across the bow, a way of letting Obama and a certain female attorney supporter of his in California know that it’s not going to be Meg Whitman again. There will be push back.
The Romney campaign will go there without going there itself.
This isn’t 2008, buddy.
In the event of offsetting embarrassments, the election goes on.

WE WANT THE TRUTH: The Three Benghazi Timelines for Which the American People Demand Answers
James Rosen, writing at The Wall Street Journal, succinctly analyzes the three timelines related to Benghazi that smack of a Watergate-style cover-up.
Regarding the second thread, it turns out that there is a video of the entire, six-hour attack on the compound and related areas.
Since the final debate tomorrow night concentrates on foreign policy, perhaps we'll be able to get answers to some of these questions.
Unless, of course, Candy Crowley comes barreling out of the stands and tackles Mitt Romney when he asks the President about the cover-up.
The Benghazi episode is best viewed as a series of three timelines. When fully exposed, the facts of the "pre" period before the attacks will tell us how high up the chain, and in which agencies, fateful decisions were made about security precautions for the consulate and annex in Benghazi. We also stand to learn how the planning for the attacks could have been put in motion without being detected until too late.
Assistant Secretary of State Charlene Lamb, who oversees diplomatic security, testified before the House on Oct. 10 that she and her colleagues had placed "the correct number of assets in Benghazi at the time of 9/11 for what had been agreed upon." While not the stuff of a perjury charge, this testimony cannot be true, given the known outcome of the Sept. 11 attack on the consulate and the pleas for enhanced security measures that we now know Foggy Bottom to have rebuffed.
The second Benghazi timeline encompasses the five or six hours on the evening of Sept. 11 when the attacks transpired. A State Department briefing on Oct. 9 offered an account that was riveting but incomplete. When all of the facts of these hours are compiled, we will have a truer picture of the tactical capabilities of al Qaeda and its affiliates in North Africa. We will also learn what really happened to Amb. Stevens that night, and better appreciate the vulnerabilities with which our diplomatic corps, bravely serving at 275 installations across the globe, must still contend.
The third and final Benghazi timeline is the one that has fostered charges of a coverup. It stretches eight days—from 3:40 p.m. on Sept. 11, when the consulate was first rocked by gunfire and explosions, through the morning of Sept. 19, when Matthew G. Olsen, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, publicly testified before the Senate that Benghazi was a terrorist attack.
Mr. Olsen's testimony effectively ended all debate about whether the attacks had grown out of a protest over an anti-Islam video. Three days before Mr. Olsen put a stop to the blame-YouTube storyline, U.N. Amb. Susan Rice, echoing Mr. Carney, had gone on five Sunday TV chat shows and maintained that the YouTube video has spurred the violence.
Regarding the second thread, it turns out that there is a video of the entire, six-hour attack on the compound and related areas.
The United States had an unmanned Predator drone over its consulate in Benghazi during the attack that slaughtered four Americans — which should have led to a quicker military response, it was revealed yesterday... “They stood, and they watched, and our people died,” former CIA commander Gary Berntsen told CBS News.
But as Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three colleagues were killed by terrorists armed with AK-47s and rocket-propelled grenade launchers, Defense Department officials were too slow to send in the troops, Berntsen said.
...Fighter jets and Specter AC-130 gunships — which could have been used to help disperse the bloodthirsty mob — were also stationed at three nearby bases, sources told the network...
Since the final debate tomorrow night concentrates on foreign policy, perhaps we'll be able to get answers to some of these questions.
Unless, of course, Candy Crowley comes barreling out of the stands and tackles Mitt Romney when he asks the President about the cover-up.

The Quote is Fake But the Schedule is Real
Spotted at the invaluable White House Dossier:
Say, wasn't Wisconsin supposed to be a Blue State and locked up for Obama? *
At HillBuzz, Kevin DuJan's assessment yesterday aligns with the increasingly defensive nature of the Obama campaign:
Hey, could one of you guys do me a favor and check up on Nate Silver and make sure he's okay?
Say, wasn't Wisconsin supposed to be a Blue State and locked up for Obama? *
At HillBuzz, Kevin DuJan's assessment yesterday aligns with the increasingly defensive nature of the Obama campaign:
As I write this, Democrats are moving the firewalls back into uncharted territory. The Obama campaign has already abandoned North Carolina…and Virginia and Florida are next. Mitt Romney is going to win all three of these states. Surprisingly, as of today, Obama’s also given up completely on Colorado too. I think the Frank Luntz focus groups in Las Vegas after the second debate are a good indication that Nevada is lost to Obama as well. The political maps are still giving New Mexico to Democrats but I have a hard time buying that... I think Governor Susana Martinez will deliver her state to Romney in the end.
My own home state of Ohio is not a tossup. I’ve written before that the thing you need to know about Ohio is that is has correctly voted with the winner of the presidential race in every election since 1960. Ohioans vote with the zeitgeist…and that energy is all going towards Mitt Romney. Ohio, the heart of it all, the Buckeye State, will be in Romney’s column just under three weeks from now.
That means Democrats’ new firewall of defense against a complete and total blowout are pushed back to Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Hey, could one of you guys do me a favor and check up on Nate Silver and make sure he's okay?
