RED ALERT TRANSCRIPT: Mark Levin Says a Powerful Republican (*cough* John Boehner *cough*) is Trying to Silence Him

Biff Spackle emails the following transcript of Mark Levin's opening monologue tonight. Levin didn't name Boehner specifically, but only the Speaker is responsible for committee assignments.

Well, it's come to my attention that there's a Republican Congressman out there who doesn't like what I've been saying.

It's come to my attention that there's a Republican Congressman out there, a fairly powerful one, who doesn't like what I've been saying about him.

And you know what this Republican congressman wants to do about it...?

He wants our major affiliate in his district to remove this show.

This Republican Congressman who's fairly powerful is sliming around in the background, in the shadows, trying to get my show removed from one of the major radio stations in his district.

You know what they call that? They call that "fascism".

If that Republican Congressman succeeds, I will expose him on national radio. And I will go to his office with a microphone and I will shove it in his face and we'll have a discussion. You know who you are and I know who you are.

Now you may treat freshman members this way, you may treat conservative, Tea Party congressmen this way, taking them off committees, drying up their fund-raising, but you're not going to treat me this way.

I'm not a part of the club. I don't report to you.

But I'll be damned if I let any hack politician, whatever party, conduct themselves in this way and they think it doesn't get back to me. Oh, it all gets back to me. All of it.

Got that, tough guy? I just want you to be aware of this.

Can you believe this, ladies and gentlemen? If these one of these jerks is that brazen with someone who isn't junior to them in the house, how do you think they treat conservatives who don't go along?

I'm telling you: we have a real mob problem on Capitol Hill. And many of these Republicans are as deceitful and power-hungry and pathetic as their Democrat counterparts. These are not "good government" people. Anyways, a fairly powerful Republican.

But I'm not going to put up with fascism on my watch. No way. And you see, Congressman: you may not be up on new technology, but you're never going to be able to silence me. Ever. In your district or anywhere else. Because there are ways around: whether it's satellite, or the Mark Levin app, or the iHeartRadio app, but that station isn't going to do a thing about it, Congressman. Nothing.

I'd hate to sue him, too. Tortious interference with my living -- if you're going around acting like Al Capone, not as tough as Capone, but sliming around in the shadows -- that's not protected by the debate clause in the Constitution, Congressman.

You're too stupid to know that, I'm just letting you know. It's you against me in civil court... just letting you know. Stop trying to put the shoulder on my people, trying to get my show stopped in your district.

You figure the Democrats and the Left get this low, but this is just remarkable. Absolutely remarkable. I hate to say it, but I'm not surprised. I'm really not.

Update: Levin posted that it's not Boehner, but I will leave this story's headline as it is. The Speaker of the House controls all committee assignments and if Eric Cantor or Whatever-his-name McCarthy are the perps, Boehner's still pulling the strings.

Here's a political warning, John-John: you violate the Hastert Rule on guns or immigration or any other damn piece of the Constitution, you're going to see a political backlash the likes of which you can't imagine

Time to break the #Gosnell news blackout

William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection is on it:

The mainstream media is ignoring Kermit Gosnell’s abortion shop of horrors.

In addition to the near total blackout at newspapers like The NY Times and Washington Post and all major networks except Fox News, mainstream news sites like Politico are silent, with not a single story as of this writing. Compare that to when Politico turned over almost its entire homepage for a month to Herman Cain’s alleged paramours.

Starting At Noon today and continuing all day we are asking people to Tweet using the #Gosnell hashtag. You can Tweet this post using the link button above, or send the Broadcast tweet from the top of the sidebar.

There also is a Facebook page to Break the Blackout.

But don't worry, folks: Melissa Harris-Perry will succeed where Stalin, Hitler and Pol Pot failed

Not only is the nutty professor -- Melissa Harris-Perry of MSNBC -- agitating for collectivization of child-rearing, now she's articulated her own "Bill of Rights":

Americans will always want some level of inequality, because it’s a representation of meritocracy. People who work hard and sacrifice and save their money and make major contributions — we think that they should earn a little more. They should have more resources, and that’s fine. But we also, however, have to have a floor under which nobody falls.

And if you’re below that — especially if you’re a child and you’re below that — we are not going to accept that. You do have the the right to health care, and to education, and to decent housing and to quality food at all times.

Alleged Professor Harris-Perry is either a Communist or unspeakably ignorant, because her bill of particulars bears an uncanny resemblance to the Soviet Union's Constitution of 1936, which guarantees the rights of the people including:

...Citizens of the U.S.S.R. have the right to work, that is, are guaranteed the right to employment and payment for their work in accordance With its quantity and quality...

ARTICLE 119. Citizens of the U.S.S.R. have the right to rest and leisure...

ARTICLE 120. Citizens of the U.S.S.R. have the right to maintenance in old age and also in case of sickness or loss of capacity to work...

ARTICLE 121. Citizens of the U.S.S.R. have the right to education...

ARTICLE 122. Women in the U.S.S.R. are accorded equal rights with men in all spheres [including] prematernity and maternity leave with full pay, and the provision of a wide network of maternity homes, nurseries and kindergartens...

Not to worry, folks: Ol' Missy's certain she can get the whole central planning thing down this time. And if it costs 10 or 20 or 50 or 60 million lives to do so, as it did in the 20th century, that's okay. She's doing it for the children.

Gun Control -- For the Children

In a vapid and disappointing Wall Street Journal op-ed, the editors assert that Constitutional conservatives in the Senate are facing a political backlash by threatening a filibuster on gun control.

...a faction of Republicans [including] Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz of Texas ... late last month said they'll use the filibuster to prevent the Reid bill from coming to the floor. On Tuesday Minority Leader Mitch McConnell endorsed the gambit, and the Heritage Action for America PAC says it plans to "score" the filibuster as a key vote for election purposes.

In an instant, these GOP wizards have taken the onus off Senate Democrats and made Republicans the media's gun-control focus.

The Journal is -- as usual -- either over-thinking the issue or simply parroting the Boehner-Rove-McCain establishment line. You make the call.

Where are their principles?

Hey, schmucks: the Constitution and Bill of Rights aren't up for debate. Legislation developed in secret, without a deliberative process, left us with Obamacare -- a disaster in every sense of the word. And that is precisely what is occurring with the Senate's "gun control" bill.

No more "Gangs of Eight". No more secret deals between the AFL-CIO and the Chamber of Commerce that are hidden from the American people.

The Constitution and the Bill of Rights aren't up for election every two years with these temporary hack politicians.

Is it a winning formula to parrot losers like Reince Preibus, John McCain and John Boehner? These numb-skulls have spent more time, money and energy waging war on the Republican base than on the Marxist Left. This country is crumbling, economically and morally, and the Journal is cheering on the guys who cower in the interest of "moderation".

There is no moderation when it comes to our nation's highest law. There is either fidelity to it -- or infidelity.

At the Journal's site, commenter George Wickham nails it when some Leftist tool named "Derrek Saber" (heh) quotes Obama:

"What's more important to you: our children, or an A-grade from the gun lobby?"

From the environment, to our schools, to guns in our streets - Republicans are clear on one thing: Special interests are more important to them than our children.

Wickham's reply is stark and brutal:

Special interest controls the Democratic party - that is why we have so many smoke-filled backroom deals since Obama became President. The more secretive the legislation, the more it favors special interests.

Concerning your B.S. about our children: let's consider how Democrats treat our children. It is okay to abort a fetus and kill a newborn child. It's okay to push children into failing schools just to protect the unions. It's okay to load our young people down with onerous debt so they can be used to funnel monies to the liberal universities. And it's okay to pile debt upon debt upon our young so the Dems can buy a few votes now. For Democrats, children serve as nothing more than props for their selfish greed. And now Obama wants to take away even their right to self-defense.

Props. Because the ends justify the means.

It turns out someone really does agree with Melissa Harris-Perry: our kids belong to the state

The peerless Investors Business Daily reminds us that at least one historical figure of note actually agrees with MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry, who recently opined that children belong not to parents, but to the state.

Collectivists throughout history have said that children do and should belong to the state and that if you control the children, you control the future.

One well-known collectivist echoed such sentiments when he said, "Let me control the textbooks and I will control the state. The state will take youth and give to youth its own education and its own upbringing. Your child belongs to us already... what are you?"

So said Adolf Hitler, who founded a sate-run youth group that bore his name.

Those who forget history, according to Santayana, are doomed to repeat it. If we fail to eject these collectivists from positions of power in rapid fashion, we are indeed doomed.

MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry: children are property of the state

In what passes for intellectualism at the failed MSNBC network, Melissa Harris-Perry articulates one of the more ironic and bizarre messages ever uttered by a woman of color. That is, children are the rightful property of the state.

Narrating a new MSNBC "Lean Forward" spot, the Tulane professor laments that we in America "haven't had a very collective notion that these are our children ... [W]e have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to their communities," Harris-Perry argued.

"Once it's everybody's responsibility and not just the households, then we start making better investments." By "investments," of course, Harris-Perry means things like spending "as much in public education as we should have."

Of course, if as Harris-Perry holds,"[t]he cost to raise a child [is] $10,000 a year up to $20,000 a year," and if children should be viewed as collectively "owned" by "society," then taken to its logical extension, a woman's choices about having a child should be informed by the economic considerations of the "community"...

What's more, the notion of collective responsibility for children was a philosophy that undergirded the Cultural Revolution in Communist China under Chairman Mao. I bring that up because, as you may recall, another Harris-Perry "Lean Forward" spot contains a reference to a "great leap forward," which calls to mind the disastrous agricultural reform plan which starved millions of Chinese to death in the 1950s.

History teaches us -- not a malevolent crackpot like Harris-Perry, but the rest of us -- that once children are "everyone's" responsibility, they are no one's.

We've never spent more on education and received less. That the execrable Harris-Perry receives a forum on MSNBC to spout this dangerous Utopian propaganda reveals just how far-gone that network is.

WHERE ARE THE CALLS FOR ANTI-DEPRESSANT CONTROL? Like Other Mass-Killers, James Holmes Was Taking Violence-Linked Antidepressants

Isn't it amazing that antique media hasn't highlighted the one common thread between the spate of mass shootings here and abroad? Not firearms, mind you, but the use of anti-depressant pharmaceuticals.

About a month before the Aurora movie theater rampage left 12 dead and at least 70 injured in July, James E. Holmes told a psychiatrist he was having homicidal thoughts and she concluded he could pose a danger to the public, according to documents released Thursday.

University of Colorado-Denver psychiatrist Dr. Lynne Fenton told a campus police officer about her concerns June 12, the day after she met with Holmes for their only session. Her fears were revealed Thursday when the new judge presiding over the case unsealed a host of search warrants and arrest documents.

Fenton also told Lynn Whitten, a campus police officer, that after she stopped seeing Holmes he "threatened and harassed her via email/text messages," the documents said.

Whitten deactivated Holmes' ID so he could not get into university classrooms and laboratories, the documents say. That appeared to contradict what university officials have said: that Holmes was not banned from the university because of a threat but because his ID was deactivated as part of the normal student withdrawal process.

Along with chemicals used for explosives, rounds of ammunition, pistol cases and paper targets, police seized movie posters, video games, apartment lease papers, numerous computers, 48 containers of beer and other liquor and stacks of school textbooks. They found prescription medication for sertraline, a generic version of Zoloft used to treat depression, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder; and Clonazepam, usually prescribed to treat anxiety and panic attacks.

...The documents also shed some light on a notebook that Holmes mailed to Fenton, which was found in a university mail room after the shooting. The notebook was described in search warrants as brown with a placard on the cover that said "James Holmes." Also written on the outside of the notebook were the words, "My Life."

...The notebook, which is still sealed, has been a bitterly contested issue. The prosecution says it should be admitted into evidence, but the defense says it is part of doctor-patient privileged communication...

The ties between young people, anti-depressant drugs and violence are so well-documented that the FDA requires bold warnings for the use of psychotherapeutics, including possible fantasies about suicidal and homicidal behavior.

Among psychotherapeutics’ black box warnings are:

• “Increased risk of suicidal ideation in short-term studies in children and adolescents with ADHD.” (Strattera, SNRI)

• “Antidepressants increased risk of suicidal thinking and behavior (suicidality) in short-term studies in children, adolescents and young adults with major depressive disorder and other psychiatric disorders.” (Zoloft, SSRI)

• “Monitor appropriately and observe closely for clinical worsening, suicidality or unusual changes in behavior for all patients who are started on antidepressant therapy.” (Parnate, MAOI)

• “High potential for abuse; avoid prolonged use. Misuse of amphetamine may cause sudden death and serious cardiovascular events.” (Adderal, sympathomimetic amine)

A helpful infographic at VizWorld depicts the real-world challenges associated with Zoloft: "A Blockbuster Drug with a Black-Box Warning: Zoloft."

Of course, this morning the propagandists on the Sunday talk shows were not interested in dealing with the root causes of violence. They were instead fixated on redistributing wealth to illegal aliens and relieving citizens of their Second Amendment rights.

So Many Unsolved Murders in Gun-Free Chicago, It's Posting Photos of Unclaimed Bodies on its Website

Hey: anyone know how the nation's most restrictive gun control laws are working out?

For the first time, the Cook County medical examiner's office has posted photos of unclaimed bodies on their website in an effort to help identify them.

The program is generating some controversy because of the graphic images, but for the sake of people missing loved ones, this is a decision where the medical examiner believes the ends justify the means.

The site contains information about when the bodies were found and where, along with as much identifying information as possible—including, in some cases--photos of the victim's face.

Here's an idea. Perhaps Chicago could introduce a mobile app for identifying bodies. Of course, these kinds of innovations are only necessary because:

Only 132 of the 507 murder cases in the city last year were closed last year. That makes for a homicide clearance rate of 26 percent—the lowest in two decades, according to internal police records provided to Chicago. (The true picture is even worse; more on that later.) To put it another way: About three-quarters of the people who killed someone in Chicago in 2012 have gotten away with murder—so far, at least. “Those stats suggest a crisis,” says Arthur Lurigio, a criminologist at Loyola University Chicago...

...Last year’s department-wide consolidation and reorganization, initiated by Superintendent Garry McCarthy, has made a bad situation even worse. As one South Side detective put it: “It’s a perfect storm of s***.”

Strange as it may seem, the Obama administration is partially responsible. While the president endlessly agitates for more restrictions on firearms:

Obama's Chicago Dead Last In Federal Gun Prosecutions

A murdered Chicago teen's mother attends the president's speech on gun control, not knowing federal gun-crime prosecutions have in fact dropped on his watch — with the Windy City bringing up the rear... But President Obama did not tell this group that Syracuse University's Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) shows that the Northern Illinois district ranked 90th out of 90 in prosecutions of federal weapons crimes per capita.

...there were 52 federal gun prosecutions in Illinois North (Chicago) in 2012, or 5.52 per million in population... the prosecution rate in Chicago was the lowest in the country.

Considering that there were 522 people murdered in Chicago in 2012, one would think that the documented lack of enforcement of existing gun laws by a president seeking more of them would be a national scandal.

"Why doesn't NBC News start with: 'Shocking news on Chicago. Of all the jurisdictions in the country, Chicago's dead last on enforcement of the federal gun laws?'" the NRA's Wayne LaPierre recently asked NBC host David Gregory, who once famously waved a banned ammunition clip on his show.

Gregory's response, if memory serves, was as follows: "Humina, Humina, Humina".

Welcome back, Carter: Labor Force Participation Rate Drops to 1979 Levels; Real Unemployment at 11.6 percent

Oh, Madge, he's so historic!

Things just keep getting worse for the American worker, and by implication [the] U.S. economy, where as we have shown many times before, it pays just as well to sit back and collect disability and various welfare and entitlement checks, than to work. The best manifestation of this: the number of people not in the labor force, which in March soared by a massive 663,000 to a record 90 million Americans who are no longer even looking for work. This was the biggest monthly increase in people dropping out of the labor force since January 2012, when the BLS did its census recast of the labor numbers.

But the "official" unemployment number dropped, don'tcha know?

Today, we got the laughable news that the unemployment rate declined even as those not in the labor force ... declined by 496,000. Which is precisely the issue: fudging the labor force participation rate is how the Obama administration has managed to maintain the myth the economy has grown under his leadership for the past 4+ years. It hasn't, and in fact if one re-normalizes for the recent long-term average participation rate of 65.8%, one gets a very different number. How different? A difference that is now at a record compared to what is reported.
...what the real unemployment rate is assuming normal growth of the labor force, which in March was 11.6%, up from 11.3% in February, and the highest since August 2012 when it was 11.7%.

This month the labor force participation rate plunged from an already horrific 63.5% to 63.3%, which is the lowest since 1979.

The fact that the headline unemployment number "dropped" at the same time is indicative of pure propaganda. Something that Pravda would publish during the days of the old Soviet Union.

It's truly sad what this federal government and its media apparatus has become.

Dr. Ben Carson: 'vicious,' white liberals are ‘the most racist out there’

Coming from the party that as recently as a few years ago installed a Klu Klux Klan Wizard as one of its most powerful Senators, this really can't come as much of a surprise:

Dr. Ben Carson on Tuesday blasted his critics for heat he’s taken recently over controversial remarks on gay marriage, calling his white liberal detractors “the most racist out there.”

“They want to shut us up completely, and that’s why the attacks against me have been so vicious,” Carson said on the Mark Levin radio show. “I represent an existential threat to them. They need to shut me up, they need to get rid of me, they can’t find anything else to delegitimize me, so they take my words, misinterpret them, and try to make it seem that I’m a bigot.”

..."They’re the most racist people there are because they put you in a little category, a box,” Carson responded. “How could you dare come off the plantation?”

Black conservatives like Dr. Carson, Allen West, Tim Scott, Herman Cain, Deneen Borelli, and many others are among the most courageous heroes of the Tea Party movement. Not only must they fight the run-of-the-mill liberal fascists, but they must also combat outright racists like Janeane Garafalo, Bill Maher, Chris Matthews, and the rest of the Media Klanners.

God Bless Dr. Carson. Say a little prayer along with me that he decides to run for President.

The Sublime Genius of Dr. Paul R. Krugman

Your Krugmanism for the day is...

Commenting at Zero Hedge, "nmewn" relays the following:

"For people like me, on the other hand, the economy is a social system, created by and for people. Money is a social contrivance and convenience that makes this social system work better — and should be adjusted, both in quantity and in characteristics, whenever there is compelling evidence that this would lead to better outcomes." --Paul Krugman

Need one say more?

The characteristics of fiat money is a social contrivance.

Creating money from thin air makes the system work better if there's evidence this would lead to better outcomes?

As in France before Napoleon, when society collapsed?

As in Germany before Hitler, when society collapsed?

As in Zimbabwe before Mugabe, when society collapsed?

Krugman's resume includes Enron, advocating for the housing bubble before the mortgage meltdown, and the historically disastrous money-printing exercise called "Quantitative Easing".

Krugman is a mastermind, a tinkerer, a Utopian. He refuses to learn from history. He believes he and the rest of the central planners can better orchestrate society than all of mankind. But he will soon learn a very painful lesson in real world economics.

"Damn, fellas, I got some Dominican hookers waitin' for me."

Which is, I hear, the full quote from this story.

In the last batch of amendment votes to the budget, the Senate voted on several foreign policy proposals... Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) introduced an amendment that would prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty in order to uphold the Second Amendment. His amendment passed on a 53-46 vote...

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) said he thought it was irresponsible to be considering major foreign policy decisions at 3 a.m. on Saturday morning.

OBAMA CLASSMATE AT OCCIDENTAL COLLEGE: Barack sought "revolution, where the working class would overthrow the ruling class"

Well, this certainly helps explain things. Dr. John Drew was a classmate of President Obama at Occidental College. Several years ago, he was interviewed by Paul Kengor on The Glen Meakem Show. The little-publicized interview was previously available only in audio form and it did not receive significant attention. The following transcript offers some fascinating insights into Barack Obama's worldview.

Q: I interviewed you for my book Dupes a year ago and you had contact me a couple of years ago because you read a piece that I wrote for American Thinker and it was called "Dreams from Frank Marshall Davis" and it was on Obama's background and youth.

Frank Marshall Davis was an actual Party member and that's something, John, I spent two or three years on investigating, but there's no question about it... the documentation is there, a 1957 Senate report called him "and identified member of the Communist Party", there's an FBI file that's 600 pages, and I took ten or twelve pages from that report and put it in the appendix of my book. It even lists Davis' Communist Party card number, which was 47544, so very clear. Why is all of this relevant? Well, I think it explains, at least to some degree, that -- if he's not a Communist, he's at least very far to the left -- and has some very left-oriented views. But you met Obama when he left Frank Marshall Davis in 1980 coming from Hawaii and went to Occidental College. So tell us about when Obama got there and when you met.

A: I see myself as Barack Obama's missing link from his exposure to Communism through Frank Marshall Davis and his later exposure to Bill Ayers and Alice Palmer in Chicago. So, as far as I can tell, I'm the only one of Obama's extended circle of friends who's spoken out and verified that he was a Marxist-Leninist in his sophomore year of college, from 1980 to 1981.

I met him because I graduated from Occidental College in 1979 and I was back at Occidental visiting a girlfriend. I met him because of the relationship which I'd started my senior year at Occidental --

Q: By the way, tell us where Occidental is. We're way out here in Western Pennsylvania.

A: Sure, Occidental College is in the Eastern Los Angeles area. It's a very prestigious, very beautiful, sort of very garden, rose-garden sort of college, with three- or four-thousand students --

Q: And pretty competitive, I mean Obama would have had to have good grades and been a good student to get accepted there.

Will Politico's Mike Allen Report That DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano Lied to His Face About Freeing Dangerous Illegals?

That's a rhetorical question, of course. Politico, which has the unofficial tagline "Why read White House press releases when you can read us?", generally has no interest in exposing mendacity, duplicity and corruption if the letter "D" appears behind a politician's name.

Consider the blatant lie that DHS strongman Janet Napolitano told Politico's Mike Allen:

Napolitano: Immigrant detainees story 'not accurate'

Napolitano ... addressed reports that DHS has released immigrant detainees from detention centers as a cost-saving mechanism due to budget uncertainties tied to last week’s sequestration and other looming budget fights. Napolitano said that “several hundred” detainees were released — not “thousands,” as news reports from last week had indicated...

...She stressed that those moved from detention centers were low-risk, and that the process would continue “for the foreseeable future... With sequestration looming and the end of the [continuing resolution] in a couple weeks, it’s like the perfect storm,” Napolitano said. “We really have to manage so many different things because we don’t have a budget.”

Just 10 days later, Napolitano's lies were officially exposed. Please consider "ICE Admits It Released More Than 2,000 Illegal Aliens, Including Serious Offenders:"

After weeks of denials, the Obama administration acknowledged Thursday that it had, in fact, released more than 2,000 illegal immigrants from immigration jails due to budget concerns during three weeks in February. Four of the most serious offenders have been put back in detention...

The administration had insisted that only a "few hundred" immigrants were released for budgetary reasons, challenging as inaccurate a March 1 report by The Associated Press that the agency had released more than 2,000 immigrants in February and planned to release more than 3,000 others this month. Intense criticism led to a temporary shutdown of the plan.

The director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, John Morton, told a congressional panel Thursday that the agency had actually released 2,228 people from immigration jails over the course of three weeks, starting February 9, for what he described as "solely budgetary reasons." They included 10 people considered the highest level of offender.

Perhaps the headline of Mike Allen's follow-up article will be headlined "Janet Napolitano Lied and People Will Die."

And then again, maybe Barack Obama will embrace capitalism.

GRAPH: 400,000 Years of Warmal Colding

In the extremely unlikely event that anthropogenic (human-caused) global warming is actually occurring, it may be rescuing us from another Ice Age:

...in terms of the geologic time scale, human history is the blink of an eye compared the 4.5 billion year age of the earth. The end of the last ice age, a monumental, undeniably non-anthropogenic warming event, happened about 12,000 years ago; to a geologist it may as well have happened a week ago last Thursday. Yet climate scientists rarely address the implications of that warming event on their modern-day warming theories.

But this week, a new study came out which alarmingly concludes that CO2-forced temperatures are at or near their Holocene (post ice age) maximum... data from the Vostok Ice Core ... affords a look at the last 400,000 years of earth history, encompassing several ice ages.
...The top graph shows CO2 concentration in the atmosphere; the bottom one shows average temperature departure from the 1950 value. Two observations are readily apparent:

• For the last 400,000 years at least, "normal" = "COLD!"

• The warm periods are but brief interludes between ice ages. Wild temperature fluctuations were common before any possible impact of human civilizations. The anomaly is the stability of the moderate temperatures during the Holocene, the last 12,000 years (indicated by my red arrow), when warm weather fostered the development of human agriculture, cultures and civilization.

Consider what a global ice age would mean. Cincinnati, OH and points north would be under a glacier hundreds of feet thick (not necessarily a bad thing, in the mind of some readers and SEC football fans). Agriculture would be impossible in North America. The planet could sustain a tiny fraction of its current population.

Given the writings of the more extreme Climatards (which is the term they prefer, I hear), eradication of the "Human Virus" is the goal.

For all the Democrat-Media whining about the Sequester, federal spending actually... higher this year than last

To illustrate just how sick the Democrat-Media complex has become, consider the following: ABC, CBS, NBC ("Cuts would hit vaccination, elderly meals, childcare"), and The New York Times ("Poor May Be Hit Particularly Hard") -- to name but a few -- all hyped the "devastating" Sequester cuts in the most hysterical terms imaginable.

Only, as it turns out, "year-to-date spending through five months of the government’s fiscal year is up by 2.7 percent":

With all the talk of sequstration and its supposed “austerity on autopilot” (as characterized at Voice of America — your tax dollars at work against you), it’s useful to look at what has really been happening with federal spending over the past six years, something the establishment press is very reluctant to do.

On Thursday, the Congressional Budget Office released its February Monthly Budget Review ahead of the Treasury Department’s official report which will arrive early next week. It estimates that the federal government ran a one-month deficit of $205 billion. It also shows that year-to-date spending through five months of the government’s fiscal year is up by 2.7 percent, and is up even after adjustment for timing quirks...

The federal government has historically run deficits in February, but it’s useful to see how dramatically reported (and for 2013, estimated) February spending and deficits have risen in just the past six years, because it’s clear that the increase is almost entirely due to higher spending (all numbers are billions):

February 2007 — Spending, $240; Deficit, $120
February 2008 — Spending, $281; Deficit, $176
February 2009 — Spending, $281; Deficit, $193
February 2010 — Spending, $328; Deficit, $221
February 2011 — Spending, $333; Deficit, $223
February 2012 — Spending, $335; Deficit, $232
February 2013 (estimated) — Spending, $332; Deficit, $205

These days, the apparent definition of “austerity” is “trying to level off spending now that it’s almost 40% higher than it was just six years ago.” The press never, ever reports on how long-term spending has exploded, but instead assumes, as does the administration, that the current level of spending is the new normal, and that any attempt to reduce its growth trajectory will cause unspeakable hardship.

Any attempt at a real reduction in spending automatically considered “draconican,” even by Republicans like Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama.

As the great Investors Business Daily astutely points out, it is Barack Obama's policies that are hurting minorities and the poor, not any phony "Sequester" austerity.
