ROGER AILES: A Battle Cry for Press Freedom

It is absolutely stunning to me that the media remains -- for the most part -- silent on the James Rosen matter. It has yet to unleash the dogs of war on the Obama administration for its unprecedented attacks on the First Amendment. Sure, The New York Times Editorial Board issued a milquetoast, David-Sirota-like warning. As did Erik Wemple of The Washington Post: "Stop! Or I'll yell 'Stop' again!"

Someone needs to sounds the alarm klaxons. The media should be on Star Trek's proverbial RED ALERT, because after Fox and Sharyl Attkisson are dispensed with, the rest of the restive press will be in the cross-hairs.

Roger Ailes, founder of the Fox News network, recognizes this.

Dear colleagues,

The recent news about the FBI’s seizure of the phone and email records of Fox News employees, including James Rosen, calls into question whether the federal government is meeting its constitutional obligation to preserve and protect a free press in the United States. We reject the government's efforts to criminalize the pursuit of investigative journalism and falsely characterize a Fox News reporter to a Federal judge as a "co-conspirator" in a crime.

I know how concerned you are because so many of you have asked me: why should the government make me afraid to use a work phone or email account to gather news or even call a friend or family member? Well, they shouldn’t have done it. The administration’s attempt to intimidate Fox News and its employees will not succeed and their excuses will stand neither the test of law, the test of decency, nor the test of time. We will not allow a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era, to frighten any of us away from the truth.

I am proud of your tireless effort to report the news over the last 17 years. I stand with you, I support you and I thank you for your reporting with courageous optimism. Too many Americans fought and died to protect our unique American right of press freedom. We can’t and we won’t forget that. To be an American journalist is not only a great responsibility, but also a great honor. To be a Fox journalist is a high honor, not a high crime. Even this memo of support will cause some to demonize us and try to find irrelevant things to cause us to waver. We will not waver.

As Fox News employees, we sometimes are forced to stand alone, but even then when we know we are reporting what is true and what is right, we stand proud and fearless. Thank you for your hard work and all your efforts.

Sincerely,

Roger Ailes

Left or right, the media should be terrified at this aggression on the part of the Obama White House. Along with the actions of the IRS, it is intended to suppress and constrain free speech, not encourage it.

It is fascism, straight up.

Tell you what: now that we know Democrats approve of this kind of action, when a Republican gets in power, perhaps we can secretly audit the whacked-out kook Janeane Garofalo. After all, it would appear that vintage media approves.

Highlights from a speech by Bob Woodward [Glenfiddich]

Guest post by Glenfiddich:

I recently attended a speech by Bob Woodward. I thought some of the highlights would be interesting for your readers.

1. Hillary can be a "lamp-throwing woman" with her anger clearly flashing when she is questioned.

2. Al Gore is now a wealthier man than Mitt Romney, but it was achieved through his connections (i.e., government). With his massive and overinflated ego, sitting next to him is the worst seat at dinner.

3. Gerald Ford may have made the most courageous decision in recent history with the pardoning of Nixon; he knew it would cost him his whole political career. I could not believe or disagreed more with the decision at the time. But he did it for the country to end risk of years of distraction.

4. Barack Obama does not have a single personal relationship in all of Washington. Not a single one with either a Democrat or a Republican in Congress. He holds 50 minute meetings in the White House and there is no attempt to reach an agreement or negotiate.

5. A Woodward colleague read all tens of thousands of pages and regulations related to Obamacare. It is “far more complex than the creation of the universe.” The man who read it was physically shaken and said it could be the most serious threat to the future of healthcare and government spending ever.

6. On negotiation: the person across the table on tough negotiations is your best friend. Only they can give you what you need.

7. On friendship and trust: he has learned that it is really hard to not like someone if they say they like you. And that “what you do and who you are must be related to be happy and successful.”

WHAT ARE THE ODDS? Obama summons Ezra Klein, Josh Marshall for private confab Tuesday, both echo same IRS "solution" today

Imagine the coincidence. Yesterday, DNC sock-puppets Ezra Klein and Josh Marshall were summoned to the White House for an emergency propaganda press briefing.

And today -- wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles -- both are singing from the same hymnal.

Marshall and Klein have portrayed all the scandals as faux scandals. Ezra Klein notoriously predicted -- wishcast, actually -- last week that the wheels were coming off the scandal wagon and that everyone would see how silly all of this is.

But today, they sing a different tune:

Both of those tweets argue that Lerner should be fired.

I imagine they're arguing for this because Obama has already decided to fire her.

Thus, they put out a Possible Solution Which Will Completely Solve This Whole Scandal-Business, Obama implements this Solution, and then there's no more scandal!

What I glean from this is that the previous White House position -- nothing more needs be done, this is all a "partisan fishing expedition" -- is now inoperative, and a new defense -- fire Lois Lerner and then claim that nothing more needs be done, this is all now just a partisan fishing expedition, again -- is now in effect.

Even more startling, other hacks journalists suddenly have the very same opinion! It's like ESP, only with Leftists! Take Joan Walsh at Salon (please!) who notes, "Why Lerner still has a job is the biggest mystery in this entirely mysterious story."

Amazing: the White House summons its media toadies -- the very same Leftists who used to coordinate media talking points on the infamous Journolist, in fact -- and *voila!* like magic the Washington Post and other DNC press release outlets are magically in synch with the Obama administration.

Somewhere, Julius Streicher is smiling.

If Your First Reaction to a Catastrophic Tornado is to Politicize Its Victims, You Might Be a Sick and Twisted Leftist

A massive, 200 mph tornado slammed into heavily populated areas of Oklahoma earlier today, killing at least 51 and leveling two schools. The first responses to the deadly storm by Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead and Vanity Fair editor Kurt Eichenwald are worth noting:

These Leftists are the lowest of the low.

In Eichenwald's case, he knows that conservatives opposed not the $17 billion Sandy relief bill, but the additional $33 billion in pork that included such necessities as:

$500 million for weather forecasting and to help create an ocean zoning plan–the later one of Obama’s pet projects. Also included are $10 million for FBI salaries $2 billion for road construction across the country, as well as funding for the Head Start program, roof repairs at the Smithsonian, and $150 million for fisheries across the country.

Everything with the Left is to be twisted to some partisan advantage, no matter how awful, tragic or unlawful.

I feel like we're living in early 1930's Germany, a state in which faith, traditions, and morals were sacrificed at the altar of an all-powerful central government. And we know how that ended up, eh, Eichenputz? But apparently that lesson is too complicated for the "editors" at "Vanity Fair" as well as the rest of the modern Democrat Party.

OBAMA AIDE: It's Now "Offensive" to Ask What President Did for Eight Hours as Four Americans Fought and Died in #Benghazi

The White House appears to be in full cover-up mode over the President's missing eight hours as the Benghazi attack unfolded.

The latest evidence: Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer appeared on Fox News Sunday and made the astounding claim that asking questions about the President's actions during the terror attack "is offensive."

WALLACE: ...the ambassador goes missing, the first ambassador in more than 30 years is killed. Four americans, including the Ambassador, are killed. Dozens of Americans are in jeopardy. The president at 4:00 in the afternoon says to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs to deploy forces. No forces are deployed. Where is he while all this is going on?

PFEIFFER: This has been tested to by --

WALLACE: Well, no. no one knows where he is, who was involved, the --

PFEIFFER: The suggestion of your question that somehow the president --

WALLACE: I just want to know the answer.

PFEIFFER: The assertions from Republicans that the President didn't take action is offensive. There's no evidence to support it.

WALLACE: I'm simply asking a question. Where was he? What did he do? How did he respond in who told him you can't deploy forces and what was he doing as president?

PFEIFFER: The president was basically uninterested in getting involved, because acknowledging any terror attack with a military response could have jeopardized his reelection. Remember, he'd just spent the entire convention claiming Al Qaeda is dead and GM is alive! He went to sleep, Chris, so he could get some rest for his trip to the Vegas fundraiser.

I made up that last snippet from Pfeiffer. Suffice it to say that's precisely what happened, though.

It wasn't offensive to question the President's actions when G. W. Bush served. Remember the incredible questions the media raised after the 9/11 attacks regarding Bush's seven minutes reading The Pet Goat to an elementary school class? How the media portrayed Bush as cowardly and clueless for taking seven whole minutes to respond?

Never mind that the Secret Service needed that infinitesimally small delay to prepare Air Force One to scramble as well as to scout evacuation routes to the airport.

When questioning the president's actions during a terror attack is portrayed by the White House as "offensive", you can be sure his actions (or, rather, his inaction) were egregious. And the act of suppressing questions from the press is itself offensive and indicative of a fascist mindset.

OH, SUPER: WaPo Reports Unlawful DOJ Monitoring of AP Was Likely About Revenge, Not National Security

And the hits just keep on coming.

For five days, reporters at the Associated Press had been sitting on a big scoop about a foiled al-Qaeda plot at the request of CIA officials. Then, in a hastily scheduled Monday morning meeting, the journalists were asked by agency officials to hold off on publishing the story for just one more day.

The CIA officials, who had initially cited national security concerns in an attempt to delay publication, no longer had those worries... Instead, the Obama administration was planning to announce the successful counterterrorism operation that Tuesday.

AP balked and proceeded to publish that Monday afternoon. Its May 2012 report is now at the center of a controversial and broad seizure of phone records of AP reporters’ home, office and cellphone lines. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said the unauthorized disclosure about an intelligence operation to stop al-Qaeda from detonating explosives aboard a U.S. airliner was among the most serious leaks he could remember, and justified secretly obtaining records from a handful of reporters and editors over a span of two months.

Now, some members of Congress and media advocates are questioning why the administration viewed the leak that led to the May 7 AP story as so grave.

The president’s top counterterrorism adviser at the time, John O. Brennan, had appeared on “Good Morning America” the following day to trumpet the successful operation. He said that because of the work of U.S. intelligence, the plot did not pose an active threat to the American public.

...AP’s story about the foiled plot was at odds with the calming message the White House had been conveying on the eve of the first anniversary of the killing of Osama bin Laden... “As we told Reuters a year ago, at no point did AP offer or propose a deal in relation to this story,” said spokeswoman Erin Madigan White. “We did not publish anything until we were assured by high-ranking officials with direct knowledge of the situation, in more than one part of the government, that the national security risk was over and no one was in danger. The only deal was to hold the story until any security risk was resolved.”

Curiously, the DOJ didn't investigate the Obama administration when it intentionally revealed a long list of national security secrets that hampered a series of ongoing operations.

PHOTO: The Incestuous Love-Child of the Democrat-Media Complex

So this is why they play from the same sheet music.

IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE NOW: ABC, CBS and CNN top executives all have siblings or spouses working directly for Obama

The Democrat Party and the media are indistinguishable from one another and it doesn't take much digging to prove it.

You knew the mainstream media was biased, but this is incredible. It was revealed today that CBS News President David Rhodes' brother is Obama Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes, who was instrumental in rewriting the Benghazi talking points. But it gets worse. It is now learned that ABC President Ben Sherwood's sister, Dr. Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, is a Special Assistant to Barack Obama on national security affairs. But even this isn't it! CNN's deputy bureau chief, Virginia Moseley, is the wife of Tom Nides, who until February was Hillary Clinton's deputy.

Ben Rhodes is a top NSC advisor with absolutely no foreign policy or military experience. None! This idiot has advocated intervention both in Libya and now Syria. How has that worked out for us? He is responsible for helping to massage the Benghazi talking points to watered down drivel. His greatest accomplishment appears to be a Master's Degree in fiction writing received from New York University. So perhaps we should call him Obama's fiction writer!

In what may be a belated effort to salvage its reputation, or perhaps an effort to get the best scoop now that keeping quiet is out of the question, ABC published a story revealing that there were twelve revisions of the Benghazi memo. The final version eradicated all references to terrorists and al Qaeda. Nice work, Mr. Fiction Writer!

...The only mainstream media reporter really doing her job is CBS's Sharyl Attkison. Attkison has also done a heroic job on the Fast N' Furious Eric Holder gun running scandal. Now it appears CBS is pressuring her to leave. Gee, wonder why?

Whatever shred of credibility existed among the network news organizations has now been utterly obliterated.

The Pet Goat versus going to sleep during a terrorist attack. Cindy Sheehan versus Pat Smith. And Valerie Plame versus the Benghazi Four.

Gee, no bias there.

We have a fascist media on our hands, bound as tightly to the government as NPR. And it's high time that we treat them as the pariahs they truly are.

OH, MAMA: Even MSNBC Reporting Anxiety and Panic in Democrat Ranks Over Benghazi Cover-up Revelations

I suppose being the lowest-rated cable "news" network in history is extra motivation for covering the real news.

It's safe to say that behind the scenes Democrats are in full-blown panic mode.

NBC's Lisa Myers, in a panel discussion on MSNBC, revealed: "There is something called Benghazi going on, and I think the Democrats now are starting to worry about it. It's started. I got calls from a number of Democrats yesterday trying to undermine Greg Hicks’s testimony, saying he wasn’t demoted. So I think they feel that some damage was done by those three witnesses on Wednesday."

Myers was interviewed before the blockbuster revelation by ABC News that the State Department and/or the White House lied about the Benghazi assassinations.

I surmise the reason that the White House was behind the release of the email revision history: Obama wants no taint to his legacy (such as it is) and if Hillary Clinton needs to suck it up, so be it.

SCANDAL VS. SCANDAL: A Media Retrospective #Benghazi

Compare and contrast:

The Pet Goat vs. Going to Sleep During an Attack

Remember The Pet Goat? That was the book that President George W. Bush read for seven (7) minutes to an elementary school class after he received word of the attacks on the World Trade Center.

Bush was pilloried mercilessly for his "inaction", even though the Secret Service is reported to have requested the delay to enhance the president's security for the trip to the airport.

How does that compare to Benghazi? Eight months after the slaughter of Americans, we still don't know what the president did after a 5pm ET meeting with SECDEF Panetta. No one knows, but many have surmised he watched sports and then went to sleep to prepare for a fundraiser the next day.

Cindy Sheehan vs. Pat Smith
The mother of a fallen soldier during the Iraq War, Cindy Sheehan became a poster child for the Democrat-media complex. No less a vintage media star than Maureen Dowd stated unequivocally that "the moral authority of parents who bury children killed in Iraq is absolute".

As for the mother of murdered diplomatic official Sean Smith, Dowd is less vocal. Silent, even. Pat Smith has struggled to make her voice heard because, though apolitical, her message is one of pain, grief and anger. "They want to shut me up," she's stated, referring to the Obama administration that has treated her with utter disdain.

Valerie Plame vs. Benghazi
Remember what all of the hullabaloo about Valerie Plame was about?

Neither do I.

The former intelligence officer didn't get shipped to one of the most dangerous locations on earth, she didn't have all of her security stripped from her over her vociferous pleas, she wasn't the victim of an all-out terrorist attack on her office, she wasn't killed during a firefight, her body wasn't dragged through the streets of Benghazi, and her death wasn't the subject of administration lies and a massive cover-up.

No, that was Ambassador Chris Stevens along with the heroes who tried to save his life.

* * * * * * * * *

And a cadre of propagandists in the mold of Julius Streicher claim that Benghazi isn't a scandal. Michael Hersh is one such pathetic hack. Writing in the left wing National Journal, Hersh claims that there was no cover-up at all.

Hersh intentionally omitted referencing yesterday's most damning testimony. After the attack, Clinton consigliere Cheryl Mills demanded that Gregory Hicks, the former deputy chief of mission/chargé d’affairs in Libya, avoid answering any questions from the visiting Congressional delegation.

Hicks was asked whether he’d ever been told before not to meet with a congressional delegation; his response: “Never.”

And just who is Cheryl Mills?

Cheryl Mills is no run-of-the-mill State Department apparatchik, even among the top tier. She’s been one of the Clintons’ right-hand men for decades. She worked in Bill’s White House legal office, then as counsel to Hillary’s presidential campaign, then became chief of staff at State when Hillary was appointed secretary. If she’s the right-hand man, what other conclusion is there than that Hillary’s the one who wanted Hicks to keep his mouth shut when meeting with Chaffetz?

And precisely what did President Obama do after he received word of the attacks? No one knows and an incurious media has never bothered to ask that question.

When a local reporter unexpectedly broached the subject with the president, Obama stumbled through an ill-conceived and incoherent answer.

We know, in fact, that the president did nothing. Except watch sports on TV and then go to sleep.

And we also know, despite his sputtering exhortations to the contrary, that "there was never any intention to rescue our people in Libya."

Consider what met the threshold for a scandal then versus now: can there be any doubt that the media, as this country once knew it, is dead?

What are "Progracists"?

Guest post by Zombie

What are “progracists”?

Progracists are people who continually classify individuals by “race” and yet can’t see how that is racist.

Progracists hate Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream of an America in which people “will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character,” because progressive policies are based on race consciousness, ethnic division, and identity politics.

Progracists keep minorities addicted to government benefits and entitlements specifically to make sure they remain poor and economically enslaved, and therefore a reliable voting bloc.

Progracists always seek to restrict everyone‘s freedoms because they think that’s the only way to stop minorities from misbehaving — at least the only way to control minorities without looking like you’re targeting them specifically.

Progracists call Americans “cowards” for not discussing race enough; but when we do discuss it, they call us racists.

Progracists still promote “affirmative action” policies even half a century after racial discrimination was outlawed in schools because progressives racistly think minorities will never be smart enough to get into college on their own merits.

Progracists routinely spew blatant racist slurs at any blacks who have conservative opinions, openly calling them “house n*****s,” “Uncle Toms,” and so on, and yet somehow continue to imagine that they themselves would never be perceived as racist for doing so.

Progracists think black mothers are too ignorant to know how to feed their own children, so progracists pass nanny-state laws dictating what is allowable to eat.

Progracists want to ban standardized tests because progracists think black people are too stupid to pass them.

Progracists don’t want you to remember that the Progressive Movement originally promoted eugenics as a way to weed out “undesirables” from society, including and especially minorities and the mentally handicapped.

Progracists never condemn blatant racism exhibited by fellow progracists.

Progracists intentionally gutted the American education system because they believed that only by dumbing down school could they eliminate the racial “achievement gap.”

Progracists implement blatantly unfair “set-aside” policies which guarantee lucrative government contracts to otherwise under-qualified minority-owned businesses — only to then award those contracts to sham companies with token minority figureheads, further enriching the white progressives who actually own the companies.

Progracists governing white-dominated universities and corporations often foreground minorities in their promotional materials, allegedly to encourage “diversity” and tempt more minorities to apply, but in reality to disguise just how all-white their organizations really are.

Progracists gasp in horror at Rudyard Kipling’s notion of “The White Man’s Burden,” completely oblivious to the fact that every modern liberal do-gooder cause is a direct descendant of Kipling’s call to action.

Progracists deem “Islamophobic” anyone who tries to rescue Muslim women from an oppressive culture, because progracists simply don’t care about Muslim women.

Progracists facilitate and justify inner-city violence and unrest, hoping to use minority criminals as unwitting shock troops to destabilize society and thereby pave the way for a progressive totalitarian state — but in the process make life miserable for all the law-abiding minorities in ravaged neighborhoods.

Progracists don’t want you to know that the progressive hero Margaret Sanger sought to legalize abortion specifically to reduce the population of minorities in America, as part of a eugenics program to protect the racial purity of whites.

The “soft racism” of progressives’ lowered expectations for minorities ends up being more pernicious and corrosive than their formerly upfront racism because back then they were at least honest about it.

Progressive hero and Democratic president Lyndon Baines Johnson once explained his rationale for addicting African-Americans to welfare and government handouts by saying “I’ll have those n*****s voting Democratic for the next 200 years.”

Democrat Woodrow Wilson was the first progressive president — and he also introduced racial segregation and Jim Crow laws to Washington DC, claiming segregation was beneficial to blacks because otherwise they would be out-competed by superior whites; he even used the White House to promote the film Birth of a Nation and especially its glorification of the Ku Klux Klan; despite all this (or perhaps because of it), Wilson remains an iconic hero to modern progracists.

After progressive Delaware Senator Joe Biden described Barack Obama as the “first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean,” Obama actually invited Biden to be his Vice President.

Shortly before he made the seamless transition from Klan leader to progressive politician, Democratic Senator Robert Byrd said, “Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”

Progracist journalist Mike Wallace once said on camera that blacks and Hispanics were too busy eating “watermelons and tacos” to read the fine print on their insurance policies.

In an attempt to decrease the number of minority babies being born, progracists go to extreme lengths to make contraception available to girls at younger and younger ages, since black and Hispanic girls are getting pregnant at a much higher rate than girls of other races, threatening the progracists’ white majority.

Progracists promote open borders and mass immigration not for any humanitarian concerns about poor people in foreign countries but only because they see new immigrants as a huge voting bloc to keep progressives in power.

Progressives never criticize black entertainers for constantly using the “n-word” because progracists hold blacks to a lower social standard than everyone else.

Progracists want you to forget that some historians have defined the Ku Klux Klan as “the terrorist wing of the Democratic Party.”

Progracists think minorities in urban areas are too irresponsible to stop littering, so progressive-dominated local governments want to ban plastic bags for everyone even though most people don’t litter.

A growing number of African-Americans believe that progracists want to make abortion freely available to poor minorities specifically to commit slow-motion genocide of the black community.

Progracists always accuse everyone else of racism to deflect attention from their own racist policies and beliefs.

RED ALERT -- ACTION REQUIRED: #Benghazi Hearings and the Need for a Select Committee–Now [Hugh Hewitt]

Guest post by Hugh Hewitt

Call 202-225-3121 and ask for the Speaker’s office. Tweet him @SpeakerBoehner and @EricCantor as well. Be polite and firm: Set up a Select Committee now to follow up on today's shocking testimony.

Set aside the disgraceful actions of the broadcast MSM today in not covering the riveting testimony of Greg Hicks, and set aside even the shocking conduct of the Administration on the night of 9/11/12 and during the days, weeks and months following.

The MSM is almost exclusive hard left and almost completely committed to the defense of President Obama and former Secretary of State Clinton. With a few, honorable exceptions they will ask no hard questions and conduct no follow-up, and of course the senior levels of the Administration are beyond shame and no “Deep Throat” is likely to emerge from their ranks.

But Speaker Boehner and the GOP control the House and they can almost instantly set-up a Select Committee to follow up on the shocking testimony today. The transcripts of my interviews with Stephen Hayes and Eli Lake will be posted here later, but it is enough to say that there were many extraordinary revelations made today and a great number of serious questions rasied which need to be asked and answered, quickly.

At a minimum the House needs to subpoena the NSA and the Department of State for the recording of the 2:00 AM phone call between Mr. Hicks and Hillary and her senior staff, a recording both I and Eli Lake suspect exists as a matter of routine NSA practice, if it has not already been erased. Subpoenas must also go out to Hillary, everyone on the conference call at 2:00 AM, and of course to Cheryl Mills, the enforcer of the cover-up. Lt. Colonel Gibson must be deposed, and his commander and then that man’s commander etc. until we get to the bottom of the stand down order. The denial of air assets from Aviano is another area of great interest. Investigators need to travel to Libya and speak with the senior officials there as to their response to being embarrassed by the Admiistration.

It must all happen quickly and without fear or favor. Not to establish a Select Committee draws the Speaker and the GOP majority into the very cover-up they are supposed to be investigating.

Call 202-225-3121 and ask for the Speaker’s office. Tweet him @SpeakerBoehner and @EricCantor as well. On my show alone we have heard calls for a Select Committee from Senators Ayotte and McCain and from Congressmen DeSantis, Gowdy and Jordan, all three of whom did extraordinarily fine work today, as did Chairman Issa and Congressman Chaffetz and many others. It is clear the Oversight and Governmental Reform Committee is far ahead of the other four committees “investigating” this scandal, but all must be brought under one roof with one staff and one set of questions and evidence.

Think about this: At 2:00 AM Hillary Clinton spoke with the man in charge in Libya who informed her the consulate had been attacked, the Ambassador was missing, and that his people had to evacuate. An hour later news of the ambassador’s death reached that man, Greg Hicks, and he informed the State Department.

Hillary never called him back that night or the next day.

Think as well about the fact that some of the most extraordinarily moving testimony ever given in the halls of Congress –given by Mr. Hicks about the entire evening but especially about the security forces who climbed the roof of the Annex in Benghazi to recover the dead and the wounded– and that it is not being played on most American media tonight.

Astonishing and disgusting.

There is nothing the Speaker and his colleagues in the House can do about the media or the Administration. But they can do the obvious and right thing, by establishing a Select Committee and thereby build upon the sense of urgency developed today, and they should do it now.

Call 202-225-3121 and ask for the Speaker’s office. Tweet him @SpeakerBoehner and @EricCantor as well. Be polite and firm: Set up a Select Committee now to follow up on today's shocking testimony.

Reprinted without with (thanks, Dr. Hewitt!) the permission of Hugh Hewitt. So I hope he doesn't sue me. But he's absolutely right. We need action now.

I'M CONFUSED: Some outfit ranked this podunk, loser blog the 79th most influential in the entire freaking U.S.?

I want some of what these guys are drinking.

Off the top of my head, Ace, Driscoll, Hoft, Jacobson, Malkin, McCain, Reynolds and a bevy of other, truly influential blogs have been skipped. You know, the major leaguers (I consider this blog double-A ball, at best).

But for the moment I'll revel in their error and try not to let it go to my head. So have a Bud. This round's on me.

15 Stunning Tweets From Today's #Benghazi Whistleblower Testimony

I am speechless not only at the depravity of this administration but also its enablers in both the Democrat Party and the Julius Streicher media. I never thought I'd live to see the day. Have you no shame, sir? Have you no shame?

Tragic, shocking and utterly emblematic of the sickness of the left.

OPEN LETTER TO GENOCIDAL EDITOR DAVE PERRY: "Get down on your knees and thank whatever god you worship that there is an NRA"

In case you're joining us late, a Colorado newspaper "editor" named Dave Perry recently called for NRA members to be shipped to concentration camps. In order to cleanse society, I guess.

Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars penned an open response to Perry, which I reprint below. Read it all.

From: Mike Vanderboegh
To: "Dave Perry" dperry@aurorasentinel.com
Sent: Tue, May 7, 2013 9:38 am
Subject: re: Why you should get down on your knees and thank whatever god you worship that there is an NRA.

My dear Mr. Perry,

Having read your histrionic screed on the National Rifle Association, wherein you label them, among other things, "freaks," "terrorists," "liars," and extortionists, I must say that it is one of the most remarkable examples of evil hysteria since your fellow newspaperman Julius Streicher declared that "The Jew is a devil in human form (and) it is fitting that he be exterminated root and branch." You may recall that Streicher was Hitler's favorite "journalist" and shaped the predicate of the Holocaust with his Nazi propaganda. You may also recall that he met a fitting end at Nuremberg in 1946, dancing the executioner's jig.

Here is what he looked like afterward, in a commonplace outcome of the iron-clad Law of Unintended Consequences:

As near as I can figure out by sifting through your frenzied illogic and dehumanizing name calling (another Streicher trademark), you seem distressed that the NRA, using long accepted political methods which are perfectly legal, has frustrated the demands of the citizen disarmament advocates for more of American firearm owners' liberty and property.

You label these five million of your fellow citizens a "cancerous threat" -- the same language that Streicher used referring to the Jews. I conclude therefore that your use of such dehumanizing language has the same purpose as Streicher's -- to literally deny the humanity of people you seek to marginalize, oppress and, if they prove too troublesome to your collectivist purpose, kill (I refer you to Victor Klemperer's classic, The Language of the Third Reich).

Oh, you will claim, that is hyperbole. Your "purpose" you claim (even to the point of self-delusion) is to save lives and "stop the carnage" of garden-variety felons and the rare mass shooter. Yet does not every federal law come with the threat of arrest for non-compliance? Are not the raid parties who enforce them not armed to the teeth and prepared to use deadly force? You may ask the Davidians, if you can find any left alive. So your allegedly benign purpose -- which your dehumanizing propaganda serves -- comes wrapped in a threat of iron-fisted violence from the state. Couple that with the fact that it seeks to further rob us of our preexisting and eternal God-given, natural and inalienable rights to life, liberty and property as passed down from the Founders, which the Constitution merely codifies, and perhaps even someone as fact-challenged as yourself might be willing to admit that when seen from our side of the argument, that makes you little more than a latter-day Streicher, using your newspaper for the advocacy of tyrannical state power.

Which brings me to the reason why you should get down on your knees and thank whatever god you worship that there is an NRA.

You see, as long as the political process works to frustrate your appetite for our liberty and property, no one's life is at risk. It is only when you defeat political advocacy groups such as the NRA and Gun Owners of America with the passage of your tyrannical laws that other methods of redress kick in. For when democracy turns to tyranny, the armed citizen still gets to vote. And it seems to me more than mildly ironic that in your alleged crusade to "stop the carnage" that you are willing to stack up hundreds of thousands of bodies in another civil war of those whom you have dehumanized in order that you may work your will upon us. Indeed, how many of us are you willing to kill to achieve your purpose? A hundred thousand? Five? A million? Ten million? For that is what it will take. Ask yourself now how big the mass graves you seek need to be.

In addition, it is merely polite to point out that those who are willing to die for their principles are most often willing to kill in righteous self-defense of them as well. Also pertinent are Bill Clinton's changes to the U.S. military's rules of engagement in 1999, when he declared the political, intellectual and media underpinnings of the Serbian war effort to be legitimate targets of war. Streicher, had he been Milosovic's propagandist, would not have had to wait for a war crimes tribunal to settle his account. His dehumanizing propaganda in service of the tyrannical state would have been terminated by a precision-guided munition, or a rifle bullet -- which amounts to the same thing.

Thus you should arise from your bed and thank whatever god you worship that the NRA -- and the political system it is able to use to frustrate your purpose -- exists. The alternative is bloody massacre on a scale this country has never seen. Or, as the Chinese say, "be careful what you wish for, you may get it."

Your fellow dehumanizing propagandist Julius Streicher could tell you that, if you can summon up the shade of his tormented soul from Hell.

BOOM BOOM HUME: With Benghazi revelations, Hillary's political aspirations are kaput

I paraphrase, of course, but Brit Hume's message is clear. The longtime Beltway insider believes there is no possible way for Hillary Clinton to evade responsibility for her leadership failures and bungled cover-up.

Earlier today, on America Live, Hume had the following to say:

There’s really no way for her to escape responsibility for this if this testimony does what we all expect now that it will do. Of course, over the years in Washington I’ve seen many a hype hearing fail to live up to expectations. But if it does live up, there’s no way I think she can escape this. I think she recognized from the start that this was trouble. I don’t think it was an accident that Susan Rice, the U.N. ambassador, who was kind of an unusual choice, was the person who went out on the Sunday shows to recite those talking points. I think then-Secretary Clinton knew that the talking points were shaky.

She may have participated in making them shaky. But she did not want any of that mud on her shoes that might be caused. And Susan Rice, of course, has paid a price for being the one who recited them. But we also know, as you suggest, Victoria Nuland, the State Department spokeswoman was involved in the crafting of those talking points. She reports directly or indirectly to Hillary Clinton, and she was telling the other people that were crafting the points that ‘my building,’ that means Hillary Clinton’s State Department, had a problem with this or that or the other thing and they were changed at her behest. Secretary Clinton cannot escape responsibility for that.

Let’s assume that she claims that she didn’t have any responsibility for that.” “What does that say about her stewardship of her department at a moment when a terrible thing has happened to an ambassador whom we’re to believe and she’s given every indication she had great faith in and cared a lot about? The murdered ambassador there was her subordinate. The staff there at the embassy were her subordinates. So if she took a walk during this, that doesn’t exactly recommend her for the person that will receive the middle of the night phone calls, does it?

I mean, I don’t think there’s any way for her to escape this even if she succeeds in arguing that she didn’t have her fingerprints on it. If she didn’t, she should have. And when she heard the talking points recited, she had to know they were wrong. If she didn’t, that’s dereliction. And if she didn’t know they were wrong, she should have said something. So she’s — I just don’t think there’s any way out, really. Look, she’ll get a vast amount of forgiveness. She’s an icon of the Democratic Party. A lot of people in the media will want to excuse her if they can, but the facts will prove too heavy.

We’ll have to see how bad it gets, but it’s certainly a weapon in the hands of her potential opponents, both within her party and in a general election if she gets that far. And the other thing, Megyn, is this also contributes to another question, which is — was she really a very successful and special secretary of state? I think the case for that is pretty weak. There was no great Clinton doctrine in foreign policy. Are there any treaties that she forwarded and help negotiate that made a big difference? Is the situation in the Middle East, which has always been a tinderbox that every American secretary of state must deal with — is that markedly improved by virtue of her stewardship of the State Department? I think the answer to all of those questions is probably no. So is this really a great credential for her as the last job she held going into a presidential campaign?

Of course not. Hillary Clinton has been an utter disaster as Secretary of State. Syria is awash in mass murder, chemical weapons, and Iranian missiles. Egypt is under the control of the Nazi-esque Muslim Brotherhood. Libya is a cauldron of terrorist activity. And Iran has -- or is about to -- acquire nuclear weapons. At the same time, North Korea and the People's Republic of China are seemingly at a tipping point.

But she's the greatest Secretary of State ever!
