Brian Terry's family deserves to know why Eric Holder is blocking a key ATF whistleblower's book on Fast and Furious

Guest post by Investors Business Daily

Transparency: The Justice Department blocks a tell-all book by an ATF special agent on how Brian Terry, Jaime Zapata and hundreds of Mexican nationals were killed with weapons supplied by this administration.

ATF Special Agent John Dodson is a national hero who in 2011 blew the whistle on Operation Fast and Furious, the Obama administration's gun-running operation to Mexico.

Testifying before Congress, he disclosed that his supervisors had authorized the flow of semiautomatic weapons into Mexico instead of interdicting them, weapons that found their way into the hands of Mexican drug cartels with deadly results.

Dodson has put his intimate Fast and Furious knowledge into a book titled "The Unarmed Truth." It provides the first inside account of how the Obama administration permitted and helped sell some 2,000 guns to Mexican drug cartels, guns used in the murder of two federal agents and hundreds of Mexican citizens.

Just as Attorney General Eric "I didn't read the memo" Holder has stonewalled on providing information and documents to Congress and the American people, hiding under President Obama's invocation of executive privilege, the Department of Justice has denied Dodson permission to publish the book.

Dodson submitted his manuscript for ATF review, as is required, and was told in a letter from ATF ethics official Greg Serres, a representative of the most transparent administration in history: "This would have a negative impact on morale in the Phoenix Field Division and would have a detremental (sic) effect on our relationships with DEA and FBI."

The family of slain Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry stands behind Dodson and supports his attempts to publish his manuscript, according to Ralph Terry, president of the Brian Terry Foundation and Brian's uncle.

The operation was exposed when Brian was killed in December 2010 by an illegal immigrant working for the Sinaloa Cartel near Nogales, Ariz., just 10 miles from Mexico. Two Fast and Furious weapons were found at the murder scene.

Two such weapons also were used to murder Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata in Mexico on Feb. 15, 2011, came from suspects who were under ATF watch but not arrested at the time.

"Do we really need to remind ATF leadership that the men that killed Brian Terry were carrying weapons supplied to them by ATF during Operation Fast and Furious," Terry wrote, not buying the ATF's morale excuse.

Comment o' the Day: The Centrist

A commenter at J.T. Young's latest at Real Clear Market -- "Is Obama Going For Broke In Washington's Fiscal Fight?" -- summarizes the perverse falsity of the Left and its leaders.

President Obama ran as a Centrist. He governs Hard Left.

The division between the two parties has never been greater.

The Tea Party was gestated in the dissatisfaction with Obamacare.

There wouldn't be a Tea Party without the reckless spending of this President.

Skin color has nothing to do with it, except as a convenient method of attempting to silence his detractors by liberals who really have no other argument.

Don't like his policies? You are a racist!

Even if those same policies were likewise loathed when Clinton and Carter were in office? Doesn't matter. You are a racist.

Typical Democrat argument points:

1) Racist.
2) Koch Brothers
3) Faux News
4) Rush Limbaugh
5) You hate the poor.

And those are their best arguments, mind you.

LISTEN UP, REPUBLICANS ON THE SUNDAY SHOWS: Here are your damn talking points...

Write 'em down on your hand if you need to:

"If Government can be so petty and spiteful, imagine what they’ll do with your health care. STOP OBAMACARE!"

Guest post by iOwnTheWorld

Hey, GOP: here is your meme, your talking point, your weapon against Obama and the Big Government Democrats. It comes from our esteemed contributor, Mr. Pinko, who says:
If Government can be so petty and spiteful, imagine what they’ll do with your health care. STOP OBAMACARE!
As an example, consider this story:

S.D. officials object to feds barring visitors from highway viewing areas near Mount Rushmore

The National Park Service placed cones along highway viewing areas outside Mount Rushmore this week, barring visitors from pulling over and taking pictures of the famed monument.

The National Park Service closed the monument in response to a government shutdown, but South Dakota officials say the National Park Service went too far when it coned off the highway viewing areas.

The illustration is a satire, but the article is not.

We have a would-be despot in the White House, who respects neither the power of Congress nor the American people. And he is out to punish both.

Network News Still Trying to Sell the U.N.'s Climate Change Scam

Guest post by Investors Business Daily

Global Warming: Temperatures have flat-lined for 15 years, the Arctic and Antarctic are gaining record amounts of ice, most computer models have been wrong, yet the networks are buying into the alarmists' narrative.

Earth might not have a fever but the media do, judging by their hyperventilating about the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's quite fraudulent report (Fifth Assessment Report or 5AR) released Sept. 27. One network — CBS— even turned a blind eye to the truth and claimed that temperatures "could have risen by more than 200 degrees."

This fiction came from CBS' Ben Tracy, who said the carbon dioxide absorbed into the ocean is a time bomb already impacting sea life. Tracy said the oceans have absorbed much of the heat caused by increasing CO2 levels and claimed that had "all that heat gone into the atmosphere, air temperatures could have risen by more than 200 degrees," while "212 degrees" appeared in graphics.

In other words, were it not for the oceans, Earth would be Venus. But what Tracy should have concluded is our world is not all that fragile and is a self-regulating entity where temperatures are not a straight-line path to doom but rather a fluctuating condition over millennia. Similarly, ice ages, droughts, hurricanes, tornadoes and the like come and go in cycles.

NBC and ABC were only slightly less hysterical. ABC flashed "big warning" onscreen as it announced the "landmark" report from "top scientists." NBC predictably linked strong storms such as Hurricane Sandy to climate change. They all swallowed the IPCC report whole, providing no time to "top scientists," such as Dr. Don J. Easterbrook, who question the "settled science" of climate change.

Easterbrook, professor of geology at Western Washington University, wrote in a recent essay that "Mark Twain popularized the saying 'There are liars, damn liars, and statisticians.'" But, after he read the IPCC AR5 report, he said "we can now add, 'there are liars, damn liars, and IPCC.'"

Easterbrook reminds us a "vast published literature exists showing that recent warming is not only not unusual, but more intense warming has occurred many times in the past centuries and millennia."

Democrats Are All Community Organizers Now #NewTone

Remember civility?

Democrats, who have long posed as the party of peaceniks and doves, have been anything but during the great rhetorical war of 2013. In fact, the party of George McGovern and Jimmy Carter has been mad as hell as of late, leading an offensive of bombastic insults and rhetorical bullying that has dominated the government shutdown...

...President Obama called Republicans “reckless and irresponsible,” casting the Grand Old Party in the role of villain. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, referred to Republicans as “anarchists,” and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, deemed Republicans “legislative arsonists.”
“I want to publicly praise Speaker John Boehner for standing firm against the Democrat government shutdown and their refusal to negotiate on a law they themselves have delayed and exempted themselves from,” said Rep. Steve Stockman, Texas Republican.

“Democrats have hurled every insult imaginable, such as ‘terrorist,’ ‘arsonist’ and ‘murderers’ against Americans who differ with President Obama. Despite their threats and childish behavior, the speaker has been steadfast in his vision to reduce the size and scope of government and treat everyone fairly,” Mr. Stockman said.

What do you call a furlough of 800,000 "non-essential personnel"? A good start.

The New Republic suggests Obama dissolve Congress, exterminate opponents, and install himself as Dictator

Guest post by Eric Boehm

Apparently, this is what The New Republic thinks about our old republic.

In a post Wednesday afternoon, Julia Ioffe made a not-so-subtle suggestion about how she thinks chief executives should handle opposition from democratically-elected legislators.

“What is a president in a presidential constitutional republic to do when faced with an intransigent, bull-headed faction among his people’s representatives?” she asks, rhetorically.

The answer, of course, is to do exactly what Boris Yeltsin did in Russia in 1993: dissolve the parliament — known at the time as the “Supreme Soviet” — and do what you want.

But Yeltsin didn’t just shut down the Russian parliament in 1993. No, he literally ordered tanks to shell the building, while some of the leaders of the parliament were still inside because they refused to let the chief executive act in such a dictatorial manner.

More than 100 people died in the riots that ensued during the 10-day siege of the parliament building, ironically called “The White House.”

According to an account from The Guardian on the 10-year anniversary of Yeltsin’s aggressive negotiations, he didn’t just sack the parliament, but “also scrapped the constitution, replacing it with another that gave him near-monarchic executive powers.”

No wonder Russia has such a highly-functioning democracy two decades later.

Thankfully, it’s nearly impossible to imagine President Obama ordering the military to shell the U.S. House of Representatives because he blames them for shutting down the government.

But imperialists on the left can dream.

Boehm can be reached at EBoehm@Watchdog.org.

James Madison explains the Government Shutdown to Drones, "Journalists", Marxists, RINOs and other Progressives

But I repeat myself. The Machiavellian, writing at The Virtuous Republic, explains:

This little history lesson is for all the members of the Democratic-Socialist Party and their unpaid propagandists in the media who decry Republicans as terrorists in regards to the current government shutdown.

Simply, this is how our republic is supposed to work. There are checks and balances between branches, there are checks and balances between states, and there are checks and balances between factions as well.

From Federalist No. 58, penned by James Madison (for the lefties out there, he might just be considered the foremost authority on the Constitution):

Admitting, however, that they should all be insufficient to subdue the unjust policy of the smaller States, or their predominant influence in the councils of the Senate, a constitutional and infallible resource still remains with the larger States, by which they will be able at all times to accomplish their just purposes.

The House of Representatives cannot only refuse, but they alone can propose, the supplies requisite for the support of government. They, in a word, hold the purse that powerful instrument by which we behold, in the history of the British Constitution, an infant and humble representation of the people gradually enlarging the sphere of its activity and importance, and finally reducing, as far as it seems to have wished, all the overgrown prerogatives of the other branches of the government.

This power over the purse may, in fact, be regarded as the most complete and effectual weapon with which any constitution can arm the immediate representatives of the people, for obtaining a redress of every grievance, and for carrying into effect every just and salutary measure.

In other words, the Democratic-Socialist faction, also known as the “takers” have imposed an onerous piece of legislation known as Obamacare, upon the creators and workers. Simply put, the House of Representatives is addressing the grievance.

The Senate is not the House of Lords, and Obama does not rule by Divine Right. The only solution to the current shutdown is a redress of our grievances. Nothing else will suffice.

Sorry about that, Machiavellian, but I quoted the whole thing. To make up for it, here's your free Obamacare pink slip.

The Ugly Face of Tyranny: Feinstein and Other "Progressives" are Coming For Your Right To Speak Freely Online

Guest post by Mac Slavo

Senator Diane Feinstein has taken up the fight for truth and liberty, just as she has done for health care and the widespread disarmament of American citizens.

This month Congess has been debating a new media shield law, which according to its authors, aims to protect journalists and bloggers from being forced to testify about their work should their sources or information come into question.

But Diane Feinstein has refused to support the bill, noting that the law would essentially grant this shield privilege to anyone who chooses to share their opinion on the internet (including those pajama sporting bloggers and news aggregators working out of their basements).

But because freedom of speech, as interpreted by Feinstein, is nothing more than a privilege granted to us by her and her ilk in Congress, she has taken steps to ensure that only those journalists sanctioned by the government will be protected by the new shield laws.

The final hurdle for the Judiciary Committee was defining who is a journalist in the digital era.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) insisted on limiting the legal protection to “real reporters” and not, she said, a 17-year-old with his own website.

I can’t support it if everyone who has a blog has a special privilege … or if Edward Snowden were to sit down and write this stuff, he would have a privilege. I’m not going to go there,” she said.

Feinstein introduced an amendment that defines a “covered journalist” as someone who gathers and reports news for “an entity or service that disseminates news and information.”

The definition includes freelancers, part-timers and student journalists, and it permits a judge to go further and extend the protections to any “legitimate news-gathering activities.”

Mark Levin responds to Charles Krauthammer: How is it that he missed three separate Reagan Revolutions?

Very good question:

MARK LEVIN: Part of what I was responding to was Tucker Carlson and Charles Krauthammer, you know, having giggles over Cruz being Canadian. Which is what the liberals bring up. Oh, the Canadian Ted Cruz. So, I thought that was pretty low.

KRAUTHAMMER: I stand exposed as the longest mole of liberals and Democrats in the conservative movement in the history of the republic. Alger Hiss is a piker beside me.

LEVIN: That’s all very funny, but my point is this -- Ronald Reagan ran for president of the United States three times and Krauthammer didn’t support him once. Excuse me, ran for president twice, but ran in the Republican primary three times. Ran in the Republican primary three times. I guess technically the last time is four times, but competitively three times. He was elected twice. He was a great conservative, a statesman. And somehow, Krauthammer, who wasn’t a child, was writing speeches or something for Walter Mondale.

Again, I don't have a problem with the fact that people change. That isn't even my point, but to take a shot at Cruz because -- Oh, the Canadian Ted Cruz, as they were giggling the other day. And not only that, they're not the font of all wisdom about the conservative movement. They missed the most important aspect of the conservative movement in modern history -- it was right in front of them and they missed it, which is exactly why they are missing Ted Cruz. They miss it.

Nothing personal, although they made it personal with Cruz. It's nothing personal with me. I'm not attacking them; I'm not attacking him.

I like Charles Krauthammer. I respect Charles Krauthammer.

The problem, however, is that he and so many like him -- George Will, for instance -- live inside a cloistered Beltway cocoon where it would seem they can no longer distinguish right from wrong nor politics from principle.

WHAT COULD GO WRONG? Statist Control Freaks in Senate Want to Define Who Is a Journalist

Does it count as violating Godwin's Law if they really are fascists?

Your First Amendment rights are UNDER ATTACK!

Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee led by Chuck Schumer and Lindsey Graham have attached an amendment to Senate Bill 987, which would give the Department of Justice power to determine who qualifies for protection as a journalist under the First Amendment.

Here at the Franklin Center, we believe in the power of a free press. We already have a law to protect the press from government meddling in our newsgathering efforts and excluding Americans from the reporting process. It’s called the First Amendment.

TAKE ACTION: Join us in protecting our First Amendment rights by using #IAm1A and reminding Congress journalism is an act, not a profession.

Go to Watchdog Wire and take action now--before it's too late.

And Now: A Very Special Message From Karl Rove

From the man who brought you Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi comes the following pearls of wisdom. Write 'em down, because I'll wager you cash money that these two will be Rove's favorites:

Well, sooner or later he's bound to get one right.

Isn't he?

Well, isn't he???

I've got a pretty good idea which Republican Senate Progressives are undermining Ted Cruz and Mike Lee

The Beltway Establishment ain't happy with Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. Chris Wallace, during his "Power Panel" segment, mentioned that disgruntled Republican insiders had actually fed him opposition research in an underhanded attempt to preserve the Obamacare status quo.

“This has been one of the strangest weeks I’ve ever had in Washington,” Wallace said. “As soon as we listed Ted Cruz as our guest this week, I got unsolicited research and questions, not from Democrats, but from top Republicans to hammer Cruz. Why are Republicans so angry at Ted Cruz?”

Rove insisted it was because Cruz and fellow Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee decided to devise a strategy to defund Obamacare without consulting Republican leadership.

Rove, as usual, is full of it.

He and the rest of the old bulls don't like anyone else in the spotlight, especially those with whom they disagree.

After the Tea Party and Constitutional conservatives swept the Republicans into power in 2010, what did the House leadership do, Karl? Did they embrace the huge crop of new freshmen, incorporate their concerns into their agenda, and install the best of them into key committee slots?

No. No. And no. John Boehner in the House and Mitch McConnell in the Senate did everything in their power to intimidate conservatives and put them on a leash. They ignored their concerns and avoided every real fight over spending and the debt ceiling. Even worse, they made sure that not a single conservative was given a key position, in spite of their popularity.

In fact, Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have done everything in their power to disenfranchise conservatives; their mouthpieces including Rove and the RNC suppressed turnout by attacking primary winners like Sharron Angle, Richard Mourdock, and Christine O'Donnell.

What kind of "leadership" attacks members of their own party?

Not only has Rove been a loser since 2006, but he also despises not calling the shots for the GOP. Now, Karl: with your horrific track record, why would anyone with an IQ above that of an amoeba consult you?

For two years, you, Boehner and McConnell did nothing -- nothing -- to fight Barack Obama's agenda.

House leadership has done nothing serious to investigate the outrageous scandals plaguing this administration. They refuse to name a Select Investigative Committee on Benghazi; they refuse to demand a Special Prosecutor for IRS-Gate; and heaven knows what they're doing about the illegal wiretaps of reporters or the illicit activities of the NSA.

In 2012, with Rove spending more time and energy attacking conservatives than a horrific Democrat candidate in Barack Obama, he managed to turn off millions of conservatives.

Let me say this in terms even he can understand: Karl Rove lost the election for Mitt Romney.

Rove and other "architects" disenfranchised and demoralized the conservative base.

Karl Rove blew $400 million on losing candidates in 2012, according to Donald Trump. He ignored digital outreach. He ignored and/or pissed off the grassroots. And he's the same man who gave us Speaker Nancy Pelosi in 2006 and Barack Obama in 2008, for heaven's sake!

Giving money to Rove is like investing with Bernie Madoff.

And which Republicans are secretly attacking Ted Cruz?

So which Republicans have been feeding Chris Wallace opposition research on Ted Cruz?

Conservative stalwarts Mark Levin and Sarah Palin have both called on Chris Wallace to disclose the source of these outrageous attacks.

Gee, it's so hard to figure out:

McCain Aide: McCain “F–king Hates Cruz”

Lindsey Graham Knocks Ted Cruz Strategy For Defunding

Not only are the same-sex Senators McCain and Graham big-government neo-Statists, they hate sharing the media spotlight with others.

You guys know "the Oklahoma Drill" in football? That's where a defender has to fight off a blocker and try and stop a rusher in a very contained space, all by himself.

I'd love to see the same drill with McCain and Chuck Schumer on opposite sides fighting one-on-one to get the attention of a cameraman. These lifetime politicians are absolutely useless. If they had to get a job in the private sector, my guess is their highest level of achievement would revolve around the phrase: "Can I super-size that for you, ma'am?"

Karl Rove needs to stop losing elections for Republicans. John Boehner needs to follow Ted Cruz's lead.

We've had enough of these losers. It's time to win, fellas, so get the hell out of the way and let the adults call the shots. Your time is over.

TRANSCRIPT: Cruz vs. Rove - Today's Showdown on Fox

Senator Ted Cruz, one of the leaders of the movement to defund Obamacare using the "power of the purse", was interviewed extensively by Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday. Cruz, as usual, was incredibly impressive in describing the rationale and tactics behind the effort:

WALLACE: Hello, again. The clock is ticking. The government shuts down in just eight days unless congress agrees on a bill to fund federal agencies. On Friday the House passed a bill to keep the government going until mid December but they also cut off funding for Obamacare, and Harry Reid said that is dead in the Senate. Ted Cruz is leading the drive, welcome back to “Fox News Sunday.”

CRUZ: Thank you, Chris, good to be here today.

WALLACE: We just played a clip where you say you will do everything you can to block it with a filibuster, but the problem is you will be blocking a bill you support. So how are you going to get other remember Senators on board to block a bill you support.

CRUZ: Let’s be clear. Last week’s vote was a tremendous victory. A few weeks ago no pundit thought it was possible. They voted to defund Obamacare, and next year as you know the fight moves to the Senate. And I think next week is a time for party immunity. All Senate Republicans I think should come together and support the House bill. They should stop Harry Reid from changing the House bill and for inserting the funding with 51 votes. That will be the fight whether he can use a straight party line vote — and Senate Republicans, if they stand together, we can stop Harry Reid.

PHONY SCANDALS DON'T PRODUCE BODY-BAGS: Democrats Walk Out on Benghazi Victims' Families

Guest post by Investors Business Daily

Benghazi-gate: Democrats couldn't share the grief of a mom who was lied to in front of her son's casket or a grieving father who wonders why the general who could have mounted a rescue was relieved of his post.

It was a shameful spectacle all around, starting with bizarre testimony by the authors of the State Department's Accountability Review Board (ARB) report and including real tears in a scandal branded as "phony" by the Obama administration and the repetition of lies agreed upon.

The scene was Thursday's hearing on the Benghazi terrorist attack before Rep. Darrell Issa's House Oversight Committee. ARB co-chair Thomas Pickering shamelessly repeated the excuse that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was not interviewed by the board because members knew where the responsibility rested — as if an attack on a U.S. diplomatic mission and the murder of an ambassador, the first in three decades, was outside the scope of her interest or authority.

Yet Pickering and Mike Mullen, former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman, authors of this "independent" investigation, admitted they regularly briefed Clinton and her advisers on their probe, an admission made more telling when the parents of two of the Benghazi dead said they never received the information they were promised on how and why their sons died.

Incredibly, they also explained why they didn't swear in witnesses for the ARB: "We had no reason to believe we would not get truthful testimony." Really? They had no reason to doubt the truthfulness of people who for weeks claimed a terrorist attack was really a spontaneous demonstration triggered by an old Internet video?

But the grim reality of this "phony" scandal really hit home with the testimony of Patricia Smith and Charles Woods, which apparently threatened more revealed truth than most Democrats on the Oversight panel could handle. With the exception of ranking member Elijah Cummings, D-Md., and Jackie Speier, D-Calif., 12 other Democrats on the Committee shamefully left the room and refused to listen to the testimony of Smith, mother of Sean Smith, an information management officer killed in the 9/11 Benghazi attack, or Woods, father of Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, who was also killed.

Democrat Apparatchik Dana Milbank Doing His Level Best to Continue the Benghazi Cover-Up

Guest post by Roger Aronoff

The Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi (CCB) started off with a powerful message: “We are here and planning on staying until we get the answers we’re seeking.” But, some in the media just don’t get it. Dana Milbank of The Washington Post delivered one of his Dennis the Menace, snarky rants about the view of “Benghazi, as seen from the grassy knoll.” Yes, Dana Milbank is calling this group of patriotic Americans who have given so much for this country a bunch of lunatic conspiracy theorists.

To Milbank, Benghazi is, to quote the administration talking point, a phony scandal: “It’s a pity that those seeking answers on Benghazi can’t focus on what really matters: Could anything have been done to prevent the deaths of the four men lost in Benghazi that night? And what can be done to make sure such a thing never happens again?”

While those are certainly important questions, and need to be addressed, that’s not enough. That sounds like it would make for a nice conference hosted by the Center for American Progress, Media Matters, and the primetime line-up of MSNBC. But how about holding people accountable for their actions and inactions that could have saved four lives, and for lying to the American people in an attempt to sweep it under the rug?

Sure, who cares that Hillary Clinton’s State Department ignored the requests to beef up security, and refused to withdraw our personnel, as the Brits and the Red Cross had done? Wouldn’t that send the wrong message?

Wouldn’t it have said that Libya was a mess, run by jihadists and al-Qaeda affiliates after the great liberation of 2011? After all, al-Qaeda flags were flying in Benghazi just days after the “liberation” of Libya. We wouldn’t want to mess up the President’s narrative in the middle of a presidential election by asking the tough questions, now would we?

FIGURES: Left-wing hacks Taegan Goddard (@PoliticalWire) and Bob Corker (@SenBobCorker) both block me on Twitter

No, I wasn't uncivil. I didn't hurl vicious insults or death threats the way Democrats so often do.

No, I simply pointed out the horrific failures of their insane political ideology. For example:

That both a left wing propagandist like Roll Call's Goddard and a supposed "Republican" like Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee refuse to engage in legitimate political debate says much about the Democrat Party and the RINO establishment.

Which is why we need to unify behind Constitutional conservatives like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, strengthen their numbers in 2014, and politically obliterate those who would destroy our country.

Karl Rove, the Bernie Madoff of the Republican Establishment, Gets Pimp-Slapped by Tom Delay on Defunding Fight

In all of American history, has there ever been a bigger campaign fundraising failure than Karl Rove?

Look at it only in terms of dollars wasted during a single election cycle. In 2012 alone, Rove torched $400 million on losing candidates, if Donald Trump's estimate is accurate.

As if that record wasn't enough, Rove's bizarre attacks on conservative candidates helped suppress the vote. Millions of members of the conservative base, discouraged by a squishy moderate presidential candidate and lack of a coherent attack on a failed president, boycotted the 2012 election.

Now Rove is attacking principled conservatives like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee; these are men who have actually taken a stand to stop the disastrous onset of Obamacare. As October 1st nears, hospitals are shedding jobs, full-time workers are being transitioned to part-time, and those with coverage are losing their coverage. State exchanges aren't ready for prime time, and the entire system is headed for a very ugly collapse.

This isn't a game! This is about right and wrong! This is about preserving the American Republic!

And Rove attacks those who are standing with the American people, claiming the threat of a government shutdown over defunding Obamacare is a losing proposition.

As usual Rove is dead wrong. During the last government shutdown, when a conservative House smacked Bill Clinton around and forced him to balance the budget, Delay was the House Majority Whip. He was there. Rove was not. He knows what transpired. Rove does not.

Interviewed on yesterday's Mark Levin show, Delay patiently explained to listeners -- using small words for Rove and his apparatchik Dana Perino -- the awesome benefits the Republicans accrued by standing up to Bill Clinton.

Levin: Now we're fighting over principle in the House [regarding defunding Obamacare] and your Senator is really one of the bright spots. He's one of the leaders of the Constitutional conservatives and he's under assault and not just by the Left, Tom Delay, not just by the Democrats, but by Republicans! What do you say about that?

Delay: I'm saddened by the Republicans attacking him, he's doing what he thinks is right, frankly, he's doing the right thing. I expect it from the Democrats, I mean the House changed their position, so he's having an impact.

Levin: And you can't win all these fights, can you?

Delay: No, you can't win them all, but you pick the ones you can win. In fact, you gotta fight! You gotta fight!

...Not only is Obamacare worth fighting over, it is a perfect political situation! It's great politics! Americans want Obamacare out of there. And when you can set up a situation where the Continuing Resolution, that funds the federal government, but doesn't fund Obamacare... then the whole issue is on Obamacare, where it needs to be!

Levin: Well, I'm troubled by so-called conservative media, too... it's like they're waging war against the conservatives... they're waging war against the base! That's kind of crazy, don't you think?

Delay: I have to tell you, I've been out there in the real world. And if the Republicans don't energize the base, they're going to have a hard time next year in the elections. Nothing energizes the base like a good fight -- and a good fight for the right reasons.

I've got to tell you, I was with a bunch of people that aren't connected to [DC] when it was reported that the House was moving in a different direction [to defund Obamacare in the Continuing Resolution]... and I've never seen such energy in these people...

Levin: What happened when the federal government shut down in 1995? Who won that?

Delay: It was the most important thing we ever did. I was there, I was the Majority Whip. We had sent the president [Clinton] a Continuing Resolution; we had cut 100 agencies, offices and programs under the Contract With America. And, of course, he didn't like that.

He vetoes the bill and shuts down the government. It was the best thing we ever did.

And we were 21 days fighting, which gave us the opportunity to explain to the American people, to tell our story, and the most important part was we took on the president.

And we used the leverage of the Constitutional power of the purse. And, unfortunately, Bob Dole went down on a Sunday afternoon and opened up the government, but even Clinton admitted that if we'd lasted one more day, he would have caved.

But the point is: we sent a signal to the President. This new majority will take you over the cliff. We're crazy. And the result of that was: for six years, Bill Clinton did not get to sign one major bill he initiated. Everything he signed -- he vetoed welfare reform twice and the balanced budget twice -- but then he took credit for them, but everything he signed was generated by the power of the purse out of the House of Representatives.

And the politics was great! I don't know where they [Rove and company] get that we took it on the chin as Republicans because we stood up and fought. We gained two or three Senate seats in the next election and we only lost a few House seats [retaining a huge majority].

Levin: Yep, we have Republicans [like Rove] rewriting history and it's a stunning thing.

As for Ted Cruz, the distinguished Senator from Texas has offered to debate Rove on his tactics for defunding Obamacare. Suffice it to say that Cruz will hear only crickets because Rove is a complete failure.

Rove is successful at fundraising, but his political track record is one only the '62 Mets could envy.

Rove is the Bernie Madoff of the Republican establishment. Anyone who sends him a single dollar might as well be lighting cigars with the money.

OUCH: Well THIS is Inconvenient Timing for the Sacramento Bee's Pro-Obamacare Op-Ed

While I'm sure you've never heard of it, the Sacramento Bee is purportedly a newspaper and website serving as the unofficial public relations arm of the California Democrat Party.

In a hysterically ill-timed op-ed, today's Bee featured a whiny, half-witted attack on the GOP for honoring the will of the people.

House Republican leaders have shown how far they are willing to go to cave to the tea party faction. They signaled on Wednesday that they are willing to shut down the federal government if they don’t get their pipe dream to defund Obamacare...

Well, if it's a pipe dream, geniuses, then why waste your breath whining about it?

They simply are unwilling to acknowledge that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which they call Obamacare, is the law of the land.

The law of the land? Wait: is that the same law of the land that Barack Obama continually rewrites, issuing waivers, exemptions and exceptions to his favored constituencies and donors?

Well, if Obama can change it, why can't the Republicans? Don't you believe in equal rights?

Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., showed how parochial and ideological the tea party faction has become. Massie told The Washington Post: “All that really matters is what my district wants. And my district is overwhelmingly in favor of my position.” ... clearly, making insurance affordable for Americans across the nation is not a priority.

In a stunning coincidence, California Health Line Magazine reports that problems with the state's Obamacare exchanges will crush the poor, especially African-American and Hispanic families.

...provider networks offered through exchange plans could result in policyholders facing:

Longer wait times for care;
Fewer specialists; and
The loss of a long-time doctor.

For example, ... policyholders who purchase a Health Net exchange plan will have access to less than one-third of the insurer's network of providers for employer-based plans. In addition, Blue Shield of California's exchange plans will include only 50% of the insurer's usual provider network.

Some exchange plans also will exclude certain large hospitals... Health care provider groups are concerned that the limited networks will make it more difficult for patients to access care, especially in Latino and African American communities that historically have been underserved...

...Donald Crane -- CEO of the California Association of Physician Groups -- said the organization is "nervous about these narrow networks," adding, "It was all about price. But at what cost in terms of quality and access?"

The California Medical Association said that the state has underestimated the problems facing policyholders and that the group doubts the state's claim that 80% of California physicians will be included in exchange plans.

The only rational explanation I can come up with is that the Sacramento Bee wants crappy health care for minorities.

The entire Obamacare exchange system is fatally flawed. It's a masterpiece of central planning, which is to say it is a Soviet-style disaster. The faster it gets destroyed, the better.
