CBS: State Run Media

Guest post by Andrea Lafferty

Recently revealed White House emails show that the Obama Administration knew the September 11, 2012 attack on the consulate in Benghazi was a planned terror attack – and they lied to the American public anyway, blaming the loss of American lives on a video that no one had ever seen.

On September 12, 2012, the day after the attack, CBS News president David Rhodes spoke to the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and spoke about how he thought the attack would be covered by the news:

David Rhodes
“Now we don’t think that [story’s] going to last, as far as it being about the people we lost and the unfolding situation which is pretty remarkable in our life time. Our government thinks that, you know, there’s a really good chance this was not just a spontaneous mob reaction to what some thought was an offensive film but actually a coordinated effort timed to the 9/11 anniversary.”

On September 14th, a full three days after the incident and in the face of CIA intelligence showing a terror link to the attack, David Rhodes’s brother and then White House Deputy Strategic Communications Adviser Ben Rhodes instructed Ambassador Susan Rice“to underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure or policy.” All in an effort to make Obama look like a statesman with mere months to go before the November election.

This direction is one that White House Press Secretary Jay Carney would repeat time and time again on September 14th, telling reporters “we do not at this moment have information… that would indicate that any of this unrest was preplanned… The cause of the unrest was a video… ”

From this point on, CBS News repeated these talking points, going so far as to remove a portion of a 60 Minutes interview with President Obama recorded on September 12th where the president acknowledged that the attack was not tied to an offensive video, instead “that there are folks involved in this who were looking to target Americans from the start. ”

Veteran Rep. Tom Cotton Destroys Democrats and Their Fake Outrage Over the Politics of Benghazi

As The Right Scoop observes, Cotton should have dropped the mic when he finished decimating the disgusting tactics of the Left.

Mr. Speaker, couple lessons I learned in the Army were you moved to the sound of gunfire and the most important step in the troop leading procedures is to supervise the execution of you orders.

When Americans were fighting for their lives in Benghazi, Barack Obama did neither. He sent no quick reaction force and didn’t even stay in the situation room to supervise the execution of his orders. We expect more from the lieutenants in the army than our president gave us that night.

For two years he’s covered up this failure of leadership by stonewalling. Not anymore. We will now get to the truth.

But what do our colleagues on the other side of the aisle say to this? They express great outrage at politicizing this matter.

When I was leading troops in Iraq in 2006, men and women who were being shot at and blown up by al Qaeda, where was the outrage as they fundraised endlessly off the Iraq war?

Where was the outrage as they viciously attacked our commanders?

Where was the outrage when they said soldiers were war criminals?

Where was the outrage when they said the war was lost?

Where was the outrage when they said only high school dropouts join the Army?

Forgive me if I don’t join my democratic colleagues in their fake outrage. Four Americans lost their lives that night in Benghazi. They deserve justice and the American people deserve the truth.

One other lesson I learned in the Army is that we leave no man behind. And we will not leave these four men behind.

That's what these disgusting losers on the Left don't seem to understand.

Men were fighting for their lives, fighting for hours against hundreds of Al Qaeda-linked terrorists, screaming into comm systems for help because they knew -- they knew -- a Commander-In-Chief would never leave anyone behind.

But they were wrong.

The President and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were AWOL. It was 3AM in Benghazi... and no one answered their calls for help.

Where the hell were they?

A BOYCOTT OF THE SELECT COMMITTEE ON BENGHAZI? For Democrats, Party Always Comes Before Country

Guest post by Investor's Business Daily

Scandal: A Democratic member of the House intelligence committee called Sunday for his party to boycott the newly announced select committee that will probe the Benghazi terrorist attacks, calling it "a colossal waste of time."

Almost as soon as "Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi" had fallen from the lips of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi — a reprise of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's "What difference at this point does it make?" — Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday" that he thinks the planned select committee to investigate the 2012 Benghazi attack is a "colossal waste of time" and suggested that Democrats not participate in it.

The congressman responded to Speaker John Boehner's announcement that a special committee to investigate Benghazi, and the cover-up that followed, by dismissing claims that new emails were "smoking gun" evidence that the inflammatory video excuse was concocted to safeguard President Obama's re-election and Hillary's future candidacy.

Calling the yet-to-be-approved committee a "tremendous red herring," Schiff said: "I don't think it makes sense, really, for Democrats to participate." After all, we got the maker of the video, as Hillary Clinton promised the parents of the dead while their son's casket arrived at Andrews Air Force Base outside Washington, D.C.

Former White House adviser David Plouffe, speaking on ABC's "This Week," called the committee "bogus." He was one of the recipients of a Sept. 14, 2012, email from Ben Rhodes, an assistant to the president and deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, discussing the prepping of U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice before her whirlwind tour of five Sunday talk shows to specifically and emphatically blame an Internet video for the attack.

YET ANOTHER CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS: White House Suggests It Will Ignore Select Committee on Benghazi

I've lost count. How many Constitutional Crises does this make?

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney today indicated the White House will refuse to cooperate with a new House committee tasked with investigating Benghazi.

“We have always cooperated with legitimate oversight,” Carney said this afternoon during the daily White House briefing. Asked whether the panel qualified as “legitimate,” he said: “I think if you look at what even some Republicans have said, it certainly casts doubt on the legitimacy of an effort that is so partisan in nature.”

“You know, at some point, you just have to assume that Republicans will continue this because it feeds a political objective of some sort,” he added. “At the same time you have to ask, ‘What about the American people who want to see Congress work for them?’”

What about the American people who wanted to see the Commander-in-Chief attempt to rescue them from a half-day long terror attack? You know, all of the dead and grievously wounded at Benghazi waiting for military back-up that would never come?

Simple question for the Democrats:

Has a president ever gone AWOL for 10 hours (that's 100 My Pet Goats, fat boy) after a U.S. Ambassador was reported missing and dozens of American diplomats were facing imminent death during a terror attack?

That's a rhetorical question for you drones: the answer is no.

If Obama does indeed refuse to cooperate with Congressional oversight, it will be more than past time to initiate impeachment proceedings. More conservatives in the House and Republican control of the Senate will go along way towards making that a reality.

JANINE TURNER: Gorgeous And Brilliant

Janine Turner just hit a grand-slam.

The number one threat to our republic is not the debt, is not the entitlements, is not invasion from another country. The number one threat to our country is lust. It is not a sexual lust. It is a lust for power. Since time began, the lust for power and its ruthlessness has ruined liberty, derailed democracy, wrecked republicanism, crippled nations and killed millions. The paths have been many but the goal singular — lust, lust for power.

Our founders knew firsthand how the lust for power corrupted human rights. They knew that, to quote James Madison, “men are not angels.” Thus, they created a government of checks and balances that would keep tyranny at bay. According to the Constitution, one branch of government can never usurp the other and no one branch can be autonomous.

There has been, and is, a faction amongst us that wants to change the fundamental structure of these checks — the progressives. The progressives don’t want a multi-tiered, self-checking and self-limiting government. They want an all-powerful, singular nexus of decision-making in the executive branch, free from checks and balances...

...Their mission is to eradicate the potency of the U.S. Congress, thus eliminating the utterly crucial check on executive power. They accomplish this by diminishing the reputation of the legislative branch and thus crippling its power and effectiveness. Our legislators fell for this in 1912. They are falling for it again and they are taking the American people with them.

Progressives had astonishing results in 1912 and 1913 with the 17th Amendment. Progressives managed to convince the state legislatures and the U.S senators that they were, themselves, corrupt. They convinced them to vote for their own demise. In the late 1800s, patient and premeditated, the progressives had planted a negative Senate public-relations campaign to germinate into the nucleus of the culture. With political comments such as “the Senate is dictated by special interests” and “the Senate is ineffectual,” the progressives fanned the flames of destruction.

They manipulated a masterful coup in the Senate, denying states’ rights, with a simple message – “The Senate is corrupted by special interest groups.” Sound familiar? It was simply stunning. Henceforth, the senators would no longer be appointed by the state legislators, but by the people. With this singular, monumental sweep of states’ rights, the Constitution, which they conveniently believe to be outdated, was thrown off-kilter.

Be aware: the progressive are not finished. They are enacting the same campaign today. Now instead of the Senate, the entire legislative branch is the problem. “The legislative branch prevents all good from taking place.” “The legislative branch is corrupt.” “The legislative branch is a bother.” “The legislative branch never gets anything done.” “The legislative branch is corrupted by special interest groups.” By beating down the legislative branch, the executive branch rises.

Read the whole damn thing.

And ask yourself: is it so difficult for a Republican leader to step up and articulate these issues as well as Ms. Turner?

JAY CARNEY: Man Without Shame

Guest post by Investor's Business Daily

Benghazi Cover-Up: The administration's tangled web of deceit now includes lying about prior lies as the White House press secretary tries to cover up its cover-up of why four Americans died in a terrorist attack.

No, that was not Winston Smith, the rewriter of history working for the Ministry of Truth in George Orwell's classic novel "1984," tap-dancing once again before a no-longer-sycophantic White House press corps. Rather, it was that master storyteller, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.

Carney shamefully continued to insist that when then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice went on five Sunday talk shows days after the 2012 attack to offer an untrue story that Benghazi was the result of an inflammatory video, she was acting on the best intelligence offered by the intelligence community.

Carney said this knowing that Mike Morell, CIA deputy director two years ago, testified before Congress and said the video story did not come from CIA analysts.

As for the emails that showed the administration's motives for the story were political, to protect a president running for re-election and a secretary of state that wanted to be his successor, Carney offered his entry for 2014 Lie Of The Year: The emails obtained by the watchdog group Judicial Watch in a lawsuit specifically seeking Benghazi documents weren't really about Benghazi.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in an interview on TheBlaze TV that the newly released emails bring questions about the slaughter "into the White House, and it shows that the idea that the CIA created the talking points that Susan Rice was using is a big fat lie."

In an argumentative exchange between Carney and ABC News' Jon Karl, Carney insisted that "if you look at the document in question here, it is not about Benghazi; it is about the protests around the Muslim world outside of U.S. embassies" and it was the general situation in the Middle East that Rice was being prepped for.

To his credit, Karl asked all the right questions in response to Carney's song and dance: "Why were you holding back this information? Why was this email not turned over to the Congress? Why was it not released when you released all the other emails?" and, of course, if what Carney was saying is true, why did it take a court case to get the unredacted email released?

Krauthammer on the sad, amoral, and pathetic excuse for a human being known as Hillary Clinton

Dr. Krauthammer about sums it up.

I find the most scandalous element of this from purely just a human point of view, is the fact that the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, with the bodies of the dead lying in front of her and with the families there, brought up the video and said a video with which we had nothing to do, and then according to one of the family members, when she went over to console that family member, she said ‘We’re going to get the guy who did the video.’

Now, that to me, if she knew that this was a phony story and I’m not sure I can understand how it would be otherwise, is a form of deception that I think is truly scandalous.

The back-story, for those who may have missed it, is here.

DISASTROUS ECONOMIC STATS RELEASED: Are Obama and Reid Still Going to Blame Bush for a Half Decade of Failure?

When even the pathetic loons at the Associated Press and Washington Post rip Obama and the Democrats for their disastrous economic policy prescriptions, you know things are bad. But more on that in a second.

Consider the latest delightful tidbits of fail:

BLS: In 20% of American Families, No One Works: "In 20 percent of American families in 2013, according to new data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), not one member of the family worked...

The BLS has been tracking data on employment in families since 1995. That year, the percent of families in which no one had a job was 18.8 percent. The percentage hit an all-time high of 20.2 percent in 2011. It held steady at 20 percent in in 2012 and 2013."

Men Who Work Full-Time Earn Less Than 40 Years Ago "The real median income of American men who work full-time, year-round peaked forty years ago in 1973, according to data published by the U.S. Census Bureau...

In 1973, median earnings for men who worked full-time, year-round were $51,670 in inflation-adjusted 2012 dollars. The median earnings of men who work full-time year-round have never been that high again."

And what are the Obama-Reid Democrats doing about this malaise?

As The Washington Post Editorial Board observes, that would be bupkis:
Mr. Obama’s budget is just the latest in a long line of plans... that fails to deliver what the country most needs. Sooner or later, change must come, and preferably before a crisis forces it on us.
Yo, nitwits: ever heard of Cloward-Piven? Crisis is what they want.

Oh, and Dave Espo from the Associated Press piles on:
Enter the [Obama] budget – and the contrast Democrats hope to set up with a Republican alternative. That would be far better, in their view, than an election that is a referendum on the slow recovery from the deepest recession in decades, Obama’s general stewardship across five years in office, the health care law and whatever else is contributing to the curdled national mood.
Curdled. I like that.

Obama and his agenda are both spoiled rotten.

ASKED AND ANSWERED: Ezra Klein wonders 'What’s the liberal equivalent of Climate Denial?'

RedState recently spotlighted an excerpt of Ben Domenech's The Transom, which featured a stunning smackdown of the 2013 World's Dumbest Blogger, Ezra Klein.

Ezra smarmily sneers “What’s the liberal equivalent of Climate Denial?” Domenech replies with the most perfect answer in the history of answers. “I assume by ‘climate denial’ Klein means an example where the bulk of real-world data, history, and experience indicate one thing, and liberals either deny its accuracy or say we ought to ignore it in order to pursue some higher aim via the policies they support. Perhaps one or two things may come to mind,” he says.

Caleb Howe was kind enough to render an answer.

"I believe the word you are looking for", Howe notes, "is BOOM."

AMORAL DECEPTION: The Democrats' "Voting Rights" Fraud

By Hans von Spakovsky and Peter McGinley

Last Friday, in a speech at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network conference, President Obama proudly announced that the Justice Department had taken on more than 100 voting rights cases since 2009. The problem with that claim is that, since 2009, the Justice Department has taken on only 39 voting rights cases—and as former Voting Section lawyer Christian Adams points out, only 13 were related to protecting minority voting rights. And, with respect to some of the cases in which the department has been involved, it lost spectacularly—such as its false claim that South Carolina’s voter ID law was discriminatory.

Perhaps President Obama misspoke when he overstated the number of voting rights cases by more than 60—or perhaps he was misinformed by his Attorney General, Eric Holder. In fact, the ever-criticized Bush administration had a much better enforcement record with much higher case numbers than the Obama administration, as was outlined in a report released by the Justice Department’s Inspector General in March 2013. President Obama also made no mention of his administration’s unjustified dismissal of the voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party—that would, after all, not fit the narrative he is trying to propagate. Regardless, President Obama’s exaggerated claims come as no surprise, especially given the setting of this particular speech.

Al Sharpton’s National Action Network conference in New York City, where Bertha Lewis, the former CEO of ACORN, an organization convicted of numerous voter registration frauds, participated in a panel discussion earlier in the week, was the perfect arena for the President’s inaccurate claims. In her remarks, Lewis declared that there is a “great fear” of what she called the “darker…new majority” that she says wields power in America. She went on to say that supporters of voter ID laws are attempting to implement a “South African apartheid-type thing where the masters of the universe still rule.” She is apparently unaware that Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s former president, supported voter ID laws or that South Africa today has much stricter ID requirements than any state in America.

EARTH DAY 1970: The 7 Dumbest Predictions Made by the Radical Left Environmental Nutjobs

With all due respect, of course.

Over at Ricochet, Jon Gabriel offers a Baker's Dozen, but my top handful are as follows:

  • “Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.” — Harvard biologist George Wald
  • “Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.”New York Times editorial
  • “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.” — Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich
  • “In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution… by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half.”Life magazine
  • “By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate… that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, ‘Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, ‘I am very sorry, there isn’t any.’” — Ecologist Kenneth Watt
  • “[One] theory assumes that the earth’s cloud cover will continue to thicken as more dust, fumes, and water vapor are belched into the atmosphere by industrial smokestacks and jet planes. Screened from the sun’s heat, the planet will cool, the water vapor will fall and freeze, and a new Ice Age will be born.”Newsweek magazine
  • “The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years. If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.” — Kenneth Watt
Read the whole thing and try not to chortle at their idiocy.  And hypocrisy.  With all due respect, of course.

COMIC RELIEF: SEIU demanding that the Obama administration unionize... Media Matters

Guest post by Labor Union Report

Over the years, the Left-wing Media Matters has taken it upon itself to criticize the “Right” for its opposition to unions’ attempt to effectively eliminate workers’ right to secret-ballot elections on whether or not to unionize.

Due to its apparent penchant to having employers unionized based on “card check,” it would seem that Media Matters’ CEO David Brock would be against forcing his workers to go through the arduous process of actually voting for the Service Employees International Union, rather than merely accepting the SEIU without an election.

Nevertheless, despite Media Matters’ prior defense of the SEIU. it appears that Brock & Co. are not voluntarily recognizing the union based on card check.

On April 10th, the SEIU filed an election with the Baltimore region of the National Labor Relations Board to have an election for 50 employees working for the George Soros-funded media “monitor.”

According to the National Labor Relations Board’s website, Media Matters has hired the high-priced, management-side law firm of Perkins Coie.

Although former Obama White House Counsel Bob Bauer is a partner in the firm, Perkins Coie’s website boasts of helping employers in all aspects of traditional labor law:

The 4 Top Failures on Obamacare Deadline Day

Courtesy of Tammy Bruce, those of us who were enjoying Opening Day, or working, or otherwise ignoring the disaster that is this administration, can get the complete Obamacare wrap-up.

1. At the oh-so-tactful Jezebel, "Obamacare Website Takes a Dump on Obamacare Enrollment Deadline.

Today's the last day to sign up for Obamacare if you're planning on using the healthcare.gov website. Unfortunately for people who tried to log onto the website during the wee hours of the morning today, that wasn't possible for a few hours. Because the website was down.

2. Daniel Halper says that "Sebelius Speechless After Reporter Tells Her How Unpopular Obamacare Is"

"At last check, 64 percent of Oklahomans aren't buying into the health care plan, they don't like Obamacare, and they've been pretty vocal about it," said the reporter. "Now that's going to be -- still continue to be -- a tough sell, but we'll see how that plays out over the coming months."

Then he waited for Sebelius to reply. And waited.

After about 7-seconds of dead air, the reporter broke in to say, "Alright, Secretary Sebelius, thank you so much for being with us this morning. I think we've probably lost sound here or something."

"I can hear you," Sebelius said, ending her silence.

3. Sen. John Barrasso simply confirms what we already knew, to wit, "White House ‘cooking the books’ on Obamacare"

Sen. John Barrasso has accused the Obama administration — which just claimed more than 6 million Americans have enrolled in Obamacare — of spinning the numbers on the federal health care overhaul and “cooking the books... I don’t think it means anything. I think they’re cooking the books on this.”

The White House still hasn’t released how many of the 6 million enrollment figure actually paid...

4. Chaser: "Valerie Jarrett to Hollywood to Get Obamacare in Movie, TV Scripts"

Valerie Jarrett explained in an appearance on Top That! on PopSugar.com...

..."That's part of why I'm in L.A. I'm meeting with writers of various TV shows and movies to try to get it into the scripts." When Jarrett says "it into the scripts," she's referring to getting references to Obamacare, the president's signature legislation, into the scripts of TV shows and movies..

That Valerie Jarrett's quite the looker.

And so smart.

I'm sure she'll do a great job marketing Obamacare.
