Frances Rice: Black Republicans Make History

By Frances Rice, President, National Black Republican Association.

Congratulations to the black Republican candidates who won their primaries several months ago, as well as on June 22nd, the most notable of whom is Tim Scott of South Carolina who received over 68 percent of the vote in the Republican Party runoff. A Charleston resident, Scott is also a state representative and previously served 13 years on the Charleston County Council. He is vying to become South Carolina's first black Republican congressman in more than a century. If successful in November, Scott would be among the first black Republican legislators elected since the 2003 retirement of J.C. Watts from Oklahoma.

Scott and the other black Republican nominees, if elected in 2010, would join the ranks of the first blacks who were elected to Congress during the Reconstruction era - all Republicans. On the list that is posted on the NBRA website are the first two black Senators and the 21 black members of the House of Representatives.

Hiram Rhodes Revels of Mississippi was the first black elected as a United States Senator, serving from 1870 to 1871. He was followed in the Senate by black Republican Blanche K. Bruce of Mississippi. Republican Joseph Rainey of South Carolina was the first black to enter the House of Representatives.

During the era of Reconstruction, Democrats - using the Ku Klux Klan - launched a reign of terror against Republican leaders, especially black Republican elected officials. A series of brutal acts by Democrats were among the reasons there were no more black Republicans elected to Congress for nearly one hundred years, until the election of Edward Brooks of Massachusetts in 1966.

Racism in the Democrat Party - past and present - is buried by the liberal press since it does not fit the media template in which the Republican Party is painted as a racist party. The charge that the Republican Party lacks diversity prevails in spite of the existence of around two million black Republicans in America. Ignored by the media is the fact that a black man, Michael Steele, is chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Invisible to liberal journalists are talented black Republicans such as NFL hall of famer Lynn Swann; boxing promoter Don King; singer/songwriter Lloyd Marcus; actor/wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson; rapper/actor James "LL Cool J" Todd Smith; and businessman/talk show host Herman Cain.

Virtually no credit is given to Republican leaders for their inclusiveness, including President George W. Bush who appointed more blacks to high-level positions than any president in our nation's history. Bush's appointees included Gen. Colin Powell as the first black Secretary of State and Dr. Condoleezza Rice as the first black female Secretary of State. Both of these accomplished black Republicans were derided as "House Negroes" by Democrats.

While denouncing the Republican Party because so few blacks attend Republican meetings, journalists overlook how the denigration of black Republicans by Democrats instills in most blacks a reluctance to become politically active in the Republican Party.

Systematically ignored by the press are Republican-sponsored meetings attended by large numbers of blacks. Journalists avoided the regional faith-based imitative meetings held during the Bush Administration and attended by thousands of blacks. The liberal media displayed a decided lack of interest in the Washington, DC leadership conferences sponsored by Republican Senators Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Rick Santorum that attracted over 500 blacks each year. Few reporters covered the meetings hosted by the Republican Party of Florida for seven years where over 500 black Republicans attended each time. Although all media outlets were invited to the NBRA Black Republican Forum held in New York City, where football hero Lynn Swann was the keynote speaker, only C-Span bothered to show up.

The media also pays scant attention to the numerous black Republican elected officials serving around the country, most of whom were elected in largely Republican districts. Some excellent examples can be found in the sunshine state, including Florida Representative Jennifer Carroll (R-Fleming Island); Mayor Gow Field of Lakeland; County Commissioner Carolyn Mason of Sarasota and City Commissioner Phillip Walker of Lakeland. Also noteworthy is NBRA Vice Chairman Richard St. Paul who was elected to serve on the New Rochelle City Council in New York.

The press perked up a bit after a record number of black Republicans, 32 candidates, threw their hats into the political ring for the 2010 elections. Those who won their primaries and secured their Republican Party's nomination in the past few months are: Star Parker (California's 57th congressional district); Issac Hayes (Illinois' 2nd congressional district); Chuck Smith (Virginia's 3rd congressional district); Marvin Scott (Indiana's 10th congressional district); Damon Dunn (candidate for California Secretary of State); C. Morgan Edwards (North Carolina State Senate); Gwen Patrick (California House District 52); Stephen Broden (Texas House District 30); James White (Texas House District 12); Marilyn Jackson (Texas House District 51).

The two other black Republicans who won their June 22nd primaries, in addition to Tim Scott, are Bill Randall (North Carolina 13th congressional district) and Bill Marcy (Mississippi 2nd congressional district).

A laughable feature of the media's reporting on Tim Scott is the assertion by liberal journalists that Republicans had to overcome their racism in order to nominate Scott. The reporters used the racist past of South Carolina as the basis for their slam against Republicans. Never mind the fact that the Democratic Party controlled South Carolina for over 100 years after the Civil War, and it was the Democrats who were discriminating against blacks. As is explained in the article "The Myth of the Racist Republicans" by Gerard Alexander, which is posted on the Claremont Institute's website, the 30-year odyssey of the South switching to the Republican Party begun in the 1970's by Richard Nixon was not an appeal to the racists.

In a 2002 article posted on the Internet, the co-architect of Nixon's Southern Strategy, Pat Buchanan, explained the genesis and purpose of the strategy. Buchanan wrote that Nixon declared that the Republican Party would be built on a foundation of state's rights, human rights, small government and a strong national defense, and leave it to the Democrat Party - the party of Maddox, Mahoney and Wallace -- to "squeeze the last ounce of political juice out of the rotting fruit of racial injustice."

The racist Democrats (some of whom became known as "Dixiecrats" when they formed the "State's Rights Democratic Party" just for the 1948 election) did not all join the Republican Party- the party of freedom and equality for blacks. In fact, those racists declared they would rather vote for a "yellow dog" than a Republican. Sadly, most blacks today have taken on the hatred for the Republican Party from the Democrats without understanding the origin of that hatred.

Once Democrats cease their insidious racism toward black Republicans, African-Americans will no longer feel that their votes are taken for granted. They will, in increasing numbers, seize control over their own destinies. They will vote for candidates based on the content of their policies, not merely the label of their party.

That truly was the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who was -- as the media seems to have forgotten -- a Republican.

General McChrystal Rumored to Have Resigned, But Not Before He Unleashed His Robotic Insect Warriors to Humiliate the President

Amid the uproar over his Rolling Stone interview, Gen. Stanley McChrystal is rumored to have tendered his resignation, but not before he sought a measure of revenge by landing a tiny robotic drone on the President's face during a speaking event.

When asked to comment on the incident, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs simply responded, "Buzz off."

Rumors that Rahm Emanuel had a hand in orchestrating the insect invasion could not be confirmed at press time.

Thomas Jefferson, tonight on Hannity

Tonight on Hannity -- a world-exclusive, the first televised interview with Thomas Jefferson, third President of the United States.

Hannity: Sir, thank you so much for meeting with us. It's a unique honor and privilege.

Jefferson: You're welcome, young man. Your industrious society has created many marvels worthy of the American people.

Hannity: Mr. President, President Obama entered office with a huge amount of "hoopla" and an almost messianic belief that he can "heal the environment", fix the economy, and solve problems like global terrorism. But the economy remains in desperate straits, his foreign policy is a shambles, and an unprecedented environmental disaster is underway. What do you make of the "Obama Legacy"?

Jefferson: No man will ever carry out of the Presidency the reputation which carried him into it.

Hannity: His immense, trillion-dollar "stimulus" package puts control of the people's money in the hands of a few central planners. What is your reaction to that strategy?

Jefferson: Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves are its only safe depositories... I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them but to inform their discretion.

Hannity: So you are generally opposed to a top-down stimulus package and prefer that the spending decisions reside with the people who pay taxes?

Jefferson: I own that I am not a friend to a very energetic government. It is always oppressive.

Hannity: What about Democrats' tendency to grow the size of government and intrude in every aspect of our lives... from the New Deal's entitlement programs, transportation, energy, health care, etc.?

Jefferson: My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

Hannity: And increasing taxes on the highest earners -- the "progressive" income tax?

Jefferson: A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

Hannity: How troubling is it that the amount of debt that the Federal Government is undertaking -- combined with entitlement programs that are massively underfunded -- means that we are passing huge amounts of debt to our children and grandchildren.

Jefferson: It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world... Never spend your money before you have earned it.

Hannity: What would you like to say to the those of our current leaders who are operating under ethical clouds: from Rangel, to Dodd, Murtha, Frank, Mollohan, Clinton, Geithner, Holder and Reid.

Jefferson: Our country is now taking so steady a course as to show by what road it will pass to destruction, to wit: by consolidation of power first, and then corruption, its necessary consequence.

Hannity: You've seen one of my "man-in-the-street" interviews, where we ask random people simple questions about current events, like 'who is the Vice President'? We found during the Obama campaign that many of those voting for him were completely uninformed and various surveys confirm that general ignorance about the man and his motives. Is that troubling?

Jefferson: If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.

Hannity: Mr. President, what are your thoughts about President Obama basically ignoring Republican requests for a bi-partisanship approach to the stimulus package, health care reform and climate change, stating "I won" and to get over themselves?

Jefferson: Bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression.

Hannity: The concept of welfare, where the state redistributes wealth to the poor even though many could easily work, has been statistically shown to increase single-parent families, a culture of dependency and crime. What are your thoughts on welfare?

Jefferson: Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition.

Hannity: Moving to the First Amendment: this concept of blogging, where anyone can be a well-read author or pundit, is a new innovation for politics. Do you believe that blogging is a useful tool to promote Democracy?

Jefferson: Information is the currency of democracy... Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.

Hannity: Interestingly enough, the whole newspaper business has suffered mightily with the rise of the Internet. Your reaction?

Jefferson: I do not take a single newspaper, nor read one a month, and I feel myself infinitely the happier for it.

Hannity: Regarding the Second Amendment, Barack Obama has historically opposed private ownership and possession of firearms. In fact, his home city of Chicago has onerous regulations that effectively prohibit guns altogether, yet the city has the highest number of murders per year of any state in the Union. Your thoughts?

Jefferson: No man shall be debarred the use of arms... Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state. For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security.

Hannity: How do you respond to Democrats who have made a variety of moves to revive the ill-named "Fairness Doctrine", which threatens conservative free speech and which was already ruled unconstitutional once in our history?

Jefferson: I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man... It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others: or their case may, by change of circumstances, become his own.

Hannity: Final question, sir. What about the Democrats' massive dependency programs, entitlement programs, and efforts to censor free speech such as the "Fairness Doctrine"? Doesn't this violate the principles of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution?

Jefferson: Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.

Hannity: Thank you so much for your valuable time, Mr. President.

Jefferson: You are most welcome, young man. Your society is truly a marvel. I can assure you that the founders are proud of you. The blessings bestowed upon you are formidable. But you must protect this precious gift against a devilish foe. This enemy, insidious in its designs, is burrowing at the foundations of our country and has as its aims the destruction of our founding principles.

I call upon you to resist this foe: the modern Democrat Party.

Note: Every Jefferson response is verbatim as reported by BrainyQuote. If statements were made at separate times, they are separated by an ellipsis when combined.

United We Stand -- Obama We Fall

By Kelcy Allen

Brick by brick, shingle by shingle, President Obama’s divisive rhetoric is tearing America’s house down.

In his deconstruction and denigration of the most successful political system and prosperous standard of living in human history, Obama seems to show little regard for a unified national spirit—a “United” States.

From his fractious campaign stump speeches, to last month’s Arizona-bashing news conference with Mexican President Calderón, to his alienation of ALL parties involved in the Gulf oil debacle, President Obama—who often spoke passionately about “putting America’s house in order”—seems to have channeled that passion into a manic compulsion to sow dissension and division—to be bipolar not bipartisan.

In his rousing 2008 Hope-and-Change campaign, Obama consistently “brought down the house.” Post election however, this effusive 4-word phrase conveys a different picture—the ceiling of prosperity is caving in, the walls of security are imploding, a once-firm foundation seems to be shifting, and our “house” is under threat of dissolution.

Recently, while giving a commencement address at the University of Michigan, President Obama disingenuously asserted, “The way to keep our democracy healthy is to maintain a basic level of civility in our public debate…we cannot expect to solve our problems if all we do is tear each other down.”

But incivility and derision have become Obama’s modus operandi.

In just 16 months, his constant divulsive vitriol has become banal and predictable; his straw man pitch of “misguided criticisms that echo the failed theories of the past” has grown insipid. His persistent accusation that his ideological adversaries peddle false theories, phony arguments, and petty politics, while his own pushy agenda has proffered no productive solutions, confers our ship of state is an empty, rudderless vessel—awash upon a ruthless tide—listing among rocky shoals.

Obama’s presidency is now sailing over dark waters of envy, division, and fear.

Cap and trade, unchecked immigration and border violence, the misdirected Stimulus, upcoming 2010 elections, emerging census fraud, and now the ongoing hellish Gulf oil catastrophe, have captured our national attention, all the while overlooking the crux of America’s problem—we’ve lost our grasp of history, we’re not working together, and we’re too divided.

American’s have always resolved their differences—they’ve conferred, compromised, and found solutions. But now, there is a scissure—a divide—which Obama’s factious rhetoric has created. And Americans don’t like it—we don’t like division—we want our house in order.

But president Obama has become a splintering homeland wrecking ball.

For almost a year-and-a-half Obama has spewed vintage Marxist drivel—class warfare. His belligerent refusal to rally Americans together has engendered angst, frustration, pessimism, and now outright hostility, across the land.

First it was “all-things-evil” George Bush and that nasty imaginary “status quo.” Then it was rich against poor—haves versus have-nots; Main Street against Wall Street; little cats versus fat-cats; public vs. private; Grandma sick of her healthcare provider, and Grandpa not seeing eye-to-eye with the ophthalmologist. Speech after caustic speech has pitted the poor, defenseless individual against the giant special interests who purportedly dominate Washington—seniors betrayed by CEO’s dumping pensions while pocketing bonuses; those getting prescriptions against the drug companies; young voters misunderstood by their elders; workers who had jobs shipped overseas by conglomerates; the powerless against big money law firms; veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who’d been “misled” into war; coffee vs. tea—it was “any available victim” against the big banks, credit card companies, insurance lobbyists, oil barons, or anyone in a tax bracket higher than your own.

Obama’s finger pointing and “kick ass” negativity is pessimistic and despoiling--we need optimistic leadership with spiritual verve. Obama is a misfit for the task.

If any of the aforementioned societal conflicts contain validity—and many do—you don’t separate America to solve the problem, you mend America—you pull America together to overcome unfairness and discord, and to spread prosperity.

The problem is, Obama is a Progressive—he doesn’t want our help. He needs us separated. If we aren’t separated, government can’t be in control, and control is simply another way to spell Progressive.

An example of fostering division was when Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano listed individuals that DHS considered possible domestic terrorists—no Muslim extremists, WTO looters, or riotous La Raza secessionists were noted.

Instead, singled out were so-called “right-wing extremists:” Groups or organizations who help authorities during natural disasters; returning US military veterans; short-wave radio enthusiasts; gun show participants; people with signs protesting high taxes; “minute men” assisting law enforcement on our border; people with bumper stickers which decry abortion, advocate for Ron Paul, or show the old yellow Marine Corps motto flag, “Don’t Tread on Me.”

This Obama lunacy created unwarranted tension and has fiercely angered Americans across the nation from every demographic.

There was the Beer Summit. Obama the lawyer, without facts and apparently not versed in hearsay or probable cause, publicly castigated a white police officer who arrested a black professor. Obama’s irresponsible over-reaction raised the ire of police personnel around the country, and tensions were unnecessarily heightened in black communities.

Consider Obama’s vacuous Jobs Summit. Invited were liberal economists, government officials, non-profit representatives, union leaders, environmental advocates, and academia. Not invited was the US Chamber of Commerce, consisting of small businesses representing 116 million jobs.

Also not invited was the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the “Voice of Small Business,” operating in DC, and all 50 state capitals. Obama’s insensitivity to independent business has helped foment lingering animosity and long lasting resentment from private enterprise.

And we can’t dismiss Obama’s dissing of Las Vegas during a town hall where he drew the ire of the mayor by badmouthing that city. Odds are this upset a great deal more Nevadans as well.

In a shameful display of insensitivity, President Obama disrespected New York City while desecrating 9/11. Not only has his terrorist coddling Department of Justice decided to prosecute Muslim Jihadists in the shadow of Ground Zero, he and his liberal left friends—ACORN, RainbowPUSH Coalition, Apollo Alliance, AFL-CIO, among many—have turned 9/11 into a partisan National Day of Service.

Henceforth, 9/11 will be a leftist celebration of activism, environmental justice, and the “greening” of America, not a day of reflection, respect, and remembrance—we’ll now honor liberal service instead of victim sacrifice.

Obama hasn’t just rankled cities, he’s riled states. During the force-fed passage of his health-care bill, some states were given preferential treatment in exchange for votes, which created outcries from neglected states not included in his Chicago-style bribery scam—ACORN voter deceit on a presidential level. “Cornhusker Kickback,” “Louisiana Purchase,” and “Florida Flim-flam” are euphemisms for “Divided We Fall.”

Surely fiscally grounded states such as South Carolina feel resentment when they’re asked to bailout “drunken-sailor economies” like California.

Alongside his new war against the states, Obama is waging a battle to eliminate the 10th Amendment.

If states lose power, Progressives gain power, and our personal freedoms are compromised. DOJ attorneys have written a recommendation challenging Arizona immigration law, while Virginia and twelve other states have filed suit in US District Court, arguing that requiring citizens to buy health coverage or pay a fee for Obama’s coercive health care, is unconstitutional.

And 27 coal mining states, including Montana, Wyoming, Pennsylvania (zealot miners who cling to guns and bibles), and West Virginia, felt buried after a 2008 video tape was unearthed in which Obama said he was willing to bankrupt the 3-million member coal industry.

It’s government versus the people—Obama has drawn a battle line.

If Obama’s attack on states and unfavorable demographic groups can be called his hobby, then trashing our Judeo-Christian heritage while appointing Muslims to his administration, is his full-time job.

A mind-boggling series of virtually unnoticed Obama policy decisions, wherein hundreds of Muslims have intentionally been fast-tracked into the administration, is raising concerns.

And while liberals go catatonic when the separation of church and state is breached, the US State Department’s Bureau of International Information Programs has assembled a range of programs and publications to celebrate Ramadan and Muslim life in America.

Christian leaders Tony Perkins and Rev. Franklin Graham recently had speaking invitations cancelled on military bases, while a new mosque accommodating over a hundred Muslims has opened in our own Washington, DC Capitol Building.

And incredibly, just months ago in January 2010, Secretary Janet Napolitano’s DHS office initiated an official information-sharing program with Muslim organizations—some tied to the terror group the Muslim Brotherhood. The groups now meet regularly with DHS senior aides and with Napolitano, to discuss American national security policy.

Obama’s apparent Muslim bias coupled with his dismissal of Christians and Jews, combined with his growing disdain for Israel, is adding to an ever-widening breach of understanding among the faith communities.

From his stilted veto of the Supreme Court during the State of the Union address; his decision not to salute the patriots buried at Arlington National cemetery on Memorial Day; his blatant failure to acknowledge D-Day on June 6th; his exile of the bust of Churchill; his incomprehensible foot-dragging and cursory show of empathy for our Gulf citizens—Obama has created rapidly-expanding rifts between many once mutually-appreciative segments of American society.

Considering the derisive and destructive nature of the Obama presidency, it would not be unreasonable to profess “United we stand, Obama we fall,” and resolutely declare President Obama to be “The Great Divider.”

It's down to the wire: Chuck DeVore doubles his numbers on RINOs Carly Fiorina and Tom Campbell in California!

Time is running short as Chuck DeVore, a true Constitutional conservative and philosophical descendant of Ronald Reagan, continues to gain momentum in the California race to unseat the horrid Barbara Boxer.

A recent Public Policy Institute of California poll shows that DeVore has doubled his numbers in only two months. Failed HP executive Carly Fiorina and liberal GOP member Tom Campbell are polling at around 24% each while DeVore has pulled within striking distance at 16%.

DeVore's credentials as a true Constitutional conservative are impeccable: he's been endorsed by Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA), Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Mark Levin, Andrew Breitbart, The Tea Party Express, Citizens United, and the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC.

And there's a huge difference between DeVore and his RINO competitors:

• Tom Campbell is a big government, big tax Nixonian Republican; he's a long-time Californian politician with a history of wishy-washy views and a friend of the tax-and-spenders.

• Carly Fiorina is a "John McCain Republican" who uses the conservative brand to burnish her non-existent credentials. In the past, she's supported amnesty for illegal immigrants, the massive federal bailouts, Cap-and-Trade and uber-liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

Meanwhile, Chuck DeVore's background is truly inspirational:

Chuck served as a Reagan White House appointee in the Pentagon from 1986 to 1988. As Special Assistant for Foreign Affairs his duties included working with Congress to advance the President’s foreign and military policy. Chuck’s official travels took him to Asia, Europe, Africa, and Central America. His initiative helped develop the Arrow Anti-Ballistic Missile program.

In 1988 Chuck served as Director of Public Liaison for former Congressman Chris Cox’s first campaign for public office. Through 1990, he served as the Congressman’s Senior Assistant... From 1991 to 1996, Chuck served as a City Commissioner for the City of Irvine. He was Chairman of the city's Community Services Commission.

In 1983, Chuck enlisted in the United States Army Reserve. He earned an ROTC scholarship that allowed him to attend Claremont McKenna College where he graduated with honors with a degree in Strategic Studies in 1985 and was commissioned an officer. He also studied overseas at the American University in Cairo, Egypt. After more than 24 years of active reserve service, Chuck retired from the Army National Guard. He is now a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army retired Reserve. A graduate of the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff College, his awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with bronze oak leaf cluster, and others.

Since age 19, Chuck has been an active volunteer for the Republican Party, serving in the leadership of several organizations. He was elected to the Orange County Republican Party Central Committee in 1992 and was reelected four times. Chuck was Chairman of the Ethics Committee.

Chuck DeVore is the kind of man we need representing California.

Donate a couple of bucks now -- the stakes are too high for our children and grandchildren. It's not an overstatement to say that the Republic hangs in the balance.

Proof that Anthony Weiner is a Stalinist Bully (and Better Suited for Ruling Zimbabwe Than Serving in Congress)

I want you to know that Rep. Anthony Weiner is a detestable hack. I want you to know that Anthony Weiner is a menace to the civil society. I want you to know that Anthony Weiner is a would-be dictator whose attempts to silence political speech are dangerous and, I believe, border on criminal behavior.

I say this because Weiner does not believe in the First Amendment, or any part of the Constitution, so far as I can tell. He is blatantly violating his oath of office.

Under the pretense of "consumer protection", Anthony Weiner is attacking perfectly legitimate private businesses like GoldLine in order to silence conservative viewpoints. Using the specious claim that GoldLine "grossly overcharges" its customers (PDF), Weiner is specifically targeting sponsors of conservative thought-leaders like Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin and Fred Thompson.

This is nothing less than a direct attack on free speech by a thug and a bully masquerading as a Congressperson. Why? Because Goldline is no more overcharging customers than Wendy's does when comparing its hamburger to one from McDonald's.

A one-ounce 2010 American Eagle gold bullion coin is the single best benchmark for most gold collectors. Using a Google search, I took the first nine websites I found (that would allow me to shop online) and ran through an ordering process for a 2010 1-oz. Eagle on each.

And this is what I found:

Raw Price + ShippingTotal PriceShopping CartWebsite
$1,239.05 + $24.95 shipping$1,264.001 oz. 2010 Gold American EagleAPMEX
$1,256.22 + $17.95 shipping$1,273.171 oz. 2010 Gold American EagleGainesville Coins
$1,255.48 + $27.00 shipping$1,282.481 oz. 2010 Gold American EagleBlanchard Online
$1,240.01 + 24.95 shipping$1.284.961 oz. 2010 Gold American EagleGolden Eagle Coin
$1,295.00 + free shipping$1,295.001 oz. 2010 Gold American EagleGoldLine
$1,278.74 + $20.95 shipping$1,299.691 oz. 2010 Gold American EagleBrandon's Coins
$1,247.92 + $49.51 shipping$1.297.431 oz. 2010 Gold American EagleBullionDirect
$1,299.00 + $19.95 shipping$1,318.951 oz. 2009 Gold American EagleAustin Gold Information Network
$1,399.00 + $7.45 shipping$1.406.451 oz. 2009 Gold American EagleSteve's Collectibles
$1,435.00 + free shipping$1,435.001 oz. 2010 Gold American EagleGovMint

In fact, Goldline was fifth out of ten on total price for the one-ounce benchmark gold bullion coin, separated by 2% from the first slot. Does that sound like overcharging to you?

Is Anthony Weiner investigating #10?

Or #9?

Or #8, #7 or #6?

No. Because they don't sponsor conservative authors and speakers. If Weiner were really concerned with overcharging, he could have found far better targets than Goldline in a matter of a few minutes, just like I did.

Anthony Weiner is a would-be Stalinist and is directly targeting free speech. His views are out of the mainstream. His tactics are anti-American. And he deserves to be shown the door in November.

And I hope that Landmark Legal Foundation or another real civil liberties outfit sues the crap out of this pathetic little twerp.

Did Dick Blumenthal 'Apologize' While Accompanied by Another Phony?

Senate candidate Dick Blumenthal (D-CT) apologized today for 'misstatements' concerning his (non-existent) Vietnam military service. The staged press conference featured a handful of Marine vets ostensibly lending their support.

An eagle-eyed observer just sent us this photo with the caption:

"Look carefully at the face of the man on the right. Now compare that face to this man."

This is William Joseph Trumpower (AKA Eliot Storm), a man listed on POW Network's Phony Vets Database.

Trumpower, like Blumenthal, is a Connecticut resident and has made quite a name for himself hawking books on the Vietnam experience. The 'POW Networks Phony' database lists Trumpower's bogus credentials as follows:

CLAIMING BRONZE STAR w/VALOR device... Claims 2nd Lt, Claims... Wears 3 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars w/V. The jacket in EARLIER pictures boasted 8 ribbons. This NEW pic has more and includes V device on Bronze Star and 2nd Lt bars...

It's entirely fitting if the staged Blumenthal apology was, as our anonymous contributor asserts, accompanied by another puffed-up bloviator.

Update: William Jacobson writes, "Well, the Storm guy was there, confirmed, so if he is a poser, then you have it."

Stand up to the Bullies: the GOP Must Block Elena Kagan

It's not just that Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan is, in the words of Mark Levin (MP3), a judicial lightweight. She's written nothing of substance and has no litigation experience to speak of.

It's not that she's an unprincipled political hack from Chicago who pilloried the military for its Don't Ask Don't Tell policy at Harvard, but somehow overlooked the fact that it is not the military's policy. It is a lawful policy of the U.S. government, passed by a Democrat Congress in 1993 and signed into law by Bill Clinton. And Kagan went on to work for the very Clinton administration that implemented the policy she decries.

It's not that she's virulently anti-military, posturing repeatedly against recruiters on Harvard's campus even in the aftermath of 9/11 when our men and women were being sent into harm's way to protect all Americans.

It's not the fact that she has no experience that qualifies her for the post. She's never been a judge on any court, at any level -- and, she "took the extremely unusual step of declining to appear before the Supreme Court during her first term" as Solicitor General.

It's not that she's consistently advocated for the unchecked growth of unconstitutional administrative bodies controlled solely by the president. In her academic roles, she argued for "greater presidential control of [bureaucracies that are] becoming ever more entangled in the daily lives of average Americans. The president has said he wanted judges who would not give strict constitutional scrutiny to his expansive legislative agenda."

It's not that she's a crypto-radical as evidenced by her bizarre academic background and political affiliations. Her senior thesis analyzed -- you guessed it -- why socialism failed in New York City in the first half of the 20th century. She wrote longingly of an era that never was, her laments an obvious paean to a regime of Statism antithetical to our founding: "In our own times, a coherent socialist movement is nowhere to be found in the United States. Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of capitalism's glories than of socialism's greatness."

While damning, these elements of her background pale in comparison to one simple fact: we are in a final battle for the solvency of our country.

Five people on the highest court will ultimately decide whether health care is a right. Whether the Commerce Clause of the Constitution can be twisted and perverted to compel you to buy a product from a government-approved entity.

We are at war and it was the Democrats in Congress who launched a Pearl Harbor-style attack on the American people. At midnight on Christmas Eve, they passed a massive new entitlement program against the clear wishes of the American people. They lied about its costs, they used every trick in the book and they squeaked by a tiny legislative victory at a time when our existing entitlement programs are already running dry.

The Democrats bullied Republicans, locking them out of committee meetings, smashing their faces against the metaphorical fence, heckling them and ultimately ignoring them.

The Democrats called Republicans -- black, white, brown, red and yellow -- racists for holding up copies of the Constitution at rallies and town hall meetings, while simply demanding fidelity to our highest law.

The Democrats bullied Republicans on the failed Stimulus bill, the budget-busting Omnibus Spending bill, unprecedented extensions of unemployment and new energy taxes called "Cap-and-Trade".

During the Bush era, Democrats used the unconstitutional judicial filibuster to block conservative Hispanics, African-Americans -- fine jurists of every race, religion and creed -- from serving on the federal court. Schumer, Obama, Leahy and other despicable partisans blocked Miguel Estrada and other monumentally qualified jurists from fair hearings on the Senate floor.

It's not just that Kagan is completely unqualified; that she's a closeted socialist; that she hates the military; and that she has been nominated solely because she will vote the radical Obama line on issues such as the constitutionality of a health care mandate. It's none of those.

It's war. And now it's time for Republicans to stand up to the bullying. It's time to return the favor. Elena Kagan must be stopped. With the country teetering on the edge of Grecian-style bankruptcy, the stakes are too high.

Call your Senators and demand they filibuster Elena Kagan. Call the Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee and demand they block Kagan's nomination.

They drew first blood. And now they must pay. Filibuster Elena Kagan.

In One Month on a Single Remote Trail in 2010, a Hidden Camera Captured 700 Individuals of Unknown Origin Entering Arizona from Mexico

In little more than a month, on a single remote trail between Mexico and Arizona, over 700 illegal aliens entered the United States.

Talk of amnesty is reportedly driving the numbers of illegal immigrants up.

Thousands of undocumented aliens pour over the border every day, unchecked and uncontrolled.

No criminal background checks.

No terrorist watch lists.

No screening for infectious diseases.

No checks for weapons.

No checks for narcotics or illegal drugs.

Who are these people?

No one knows.

On March 27th, 2010, Arizona rancher Rob Krentz was brutally murdered on his own property by an illegal alien.

Today, Phoenix is the kidnapping capital of the world.

Of 75,000 violent and property crimes in 2009, only 18% were 'cleared' (solved).

Of 8,732 violent crimes in '09, only 2,921 arrests were made.

Of the 522 rapes that year, only 72 arrests were made.

Less than half of the murders that year were cleared.

This is not an indictment of the police. This is an indictment of a federal open borders policy that endangers citizens.

An illegal who commits a crime, like Rob Krentz' murderer, can easily disappear back into Mexico.

You can't buy a bottle of beer in this country without showing ID. You can't even board a plane or a cruise ship without a passport or driver's license.

Someday soon, if it hasn't happened already, terrorists bent on destruction will enter the country through the swinging doors in the Southwest.

Millions of pounds of drugs pass through the porous border every year.

It's only a matter of time until chem-, bio- or radiological weapons make their way to our cities through similar means.
