First Reax: GOP Debate

I'll be blunt.

Herman Cain, Tim Pawlenty and Rick Santorum are the only real contenders on stage tonight. The waterboarding question sealed the deal ("Would you approve of enhanced interrogation techniques under certain circumstances you could imagine?").

Only Gov. Johnson and Ru Paul failed to answer in the affirmative.

We need Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin on stage.

We need Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin kicking ass and taking names.

Jon Huntsman? Ron Paul? Newt Gingrich? Sorry, guys, but give me a freaking break.

Obama Won't Show You These Pix, But I Will [Dan from New York]

Dan from New York:

Photos taken by a Pakistani security official who entered the compound after the early morning raid on Monday, show two men dressed in traditional Pakistani garb and one in a t-shirt, with blood streaming from their ears, noses and mouths.

Enjoy.

More dead terrorists, please.

Bin Laden Death Photo: Well, At Least This One Doesn't Look Fake

O.G. relays this photo of what is presumed to be UBL's carcass before it was dispatched to the deep.

I can't verify its authenticity but, then again, I can't not verify its authenticity either. The most recent Drudge flash casts doubt, stating: "The images, being described as 'graphic', are bound to stir emotions in the east and the west, and will likely become the most viewed photographs in modern history... One image shows a bullet wound to his head above his left eye. "

Update: O.G. observes that this photo matches the description "if it's flipped, dumbass."

Ooooooh.

Bin Laden Double-Tap Prompts Redesign Effort at WTC Memorial

Biff Spackle relays two artist's conceptions.

Before you get angry with Biff, remember: UBL was buried at sea with full honors.

This display is purely decorative.

Photos: Bin Laden's 'Shocking' Hideout Was Discovered Thanks to Emperor Chimpy McBushitlerburton

ABC has the complete, "exclusive" slide-show that highlights the decidedly non-cavern-like opulence of UBL's last abode.

CNS News reports that senior intelligence officials were "shocked" by what they saw of the compound.

The first step on the trail was information about a courier, who had been a protégé of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of 9/11 attacks... "Detainees [in Gitmo] also identified this man as one of the few al Qaeda couriers trusted by bin Laden,” the senior administration official said. “They indicated he might be living with and protecting bin Laden.”

After first positively identifying this courier and then ultimately discovering the unusual compound where he and his brother lived in Abbottabad, Pakistan, U.S. intelligence officials believed they may well have discovered the hiding place of Osama bin Laden.

When we saw the compound where the brothers lived, we were shocked by what we saw--an extraordinarily unique compound... we had high confidence that the compound harbored a high-value terrorist target...[we] assessed that there was a strong probability that the terrorist that was hiding there was Osama bin Laden.

...One courier in particular had our constant attention. Detainees [in Gitmo] gave us his nom de guerre or his nickname and identified him as both a protégé of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of September 11th, and a trusted assistant of Abu Faraj al-Libbi, the former number three of al Qaeda who was captured in 2005... Detainees also identified this man as one of the few al Qaeda couriers trusted by bin Laden. They indicated he might be living with and protecting bin Laden. But for years, we were unable to identify his true name or his location.

Four years ago, we uncovered his identity, and for operational reasons, I can’t go into details about his name or how we identified him, but about two years ago, after months of persistent effort, we identified areas in Pakistan where the courier and his brother operated. Still we were unable to pinpoint exactly where they lived, due to extensive operational security on their part. The fact that they were being so careful reinforced our belief that we were on the right track.

Then in August 2010, we found their residence, a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, a town about 35 miles north of Islamabad. The area is relatively affluent, with lots of retired military. It’s also isolated from the natural disasters and terrorist attacks that have afflicted other parts of Pakistan. When we saw the compound where the brothers lived, we were shocked by what we saw -- an extraordinarily unique compound. The compound sits on a large plot of land in an area that was relatively secluded when it was built. It is roughly eight times larger than the other homes in the area.

When the compound was built in 2005, it was on the outskirts of the town center, at the end of a narrow dirt road. In the last six years, some residential homes have been built nearby. The physical security measures of the compound are extraordinary. It has 12- to 18-foot walls topped with barbed wire. Internal wall sections -- internal walls sectioned off different portions of the compound to provide extra privacy. Access to the compound is restricted by two security gates, and the residents of the compound burn their trash, unlike their neighbors, who put the trash out for collection.

The main structure, a three-story building, has few windows facing the outside of the compound. A terrace on the third floor has a seven-foot wall privacy--has a seven-foot privacy wall... It’s also noteworthy that the property is valued at approximately $1 million but has no telephone or Internet service connected to it. The brothers had no explainable source of wealth.

Intelligence analysts concluded that this compound was custom built to hide someone of significance. We soon learned that more people were living at the compound than the two brothers and their families. A third family lived there--one whose size and whose makeup matched the bin Laden family members that we believed most likely to be with Osama bin Laden. Our best assessment, based on a large body of reporting from multiple sources, was that bin Laden was living there with several family members, including his youngest wife.

Everything we saw--the extremely elaborate operational security, the brothers’ background and their behavior, and the location and the design of the compound itself was perfectly consistent with what our experts expected bin Laden’s hideout to look like. Keep in mind that two of bin Laden’s gatekeepers, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Abu Faraj al-Libbi, were arrested in the settled areas of Pakistan...

Consider the key aspects of this story:

• Gitmo detainees provided the critical intelligence regarding the courier.

• Interrogations of these detainees revealed the salient details.

• This data was uncovered during the Bush administration (in 2007, actually).

President Obama, of course, specifically omitted thanks of President Bush, Vice President Cheney, military brass, intelligence officials and others whose post-9/11 policies were viciously opposed by the Left and which led directly to this opportunity. Mark Levin notes:

For now, let me say not only how proud I am of our brave heroes in the military and intel services, but how troubling I found the president's comments last night. Not one word about General David Petraeus, not one word about CIA Director Leon Panetta. And even now, the White House is leaking information to the media aimed at building up Obama while diminishing the contribution of others. Well, he mentioned Panetta, but what I meant is, he did not praise or thank him, same with Petreaus... [and] Obama's single mention of Bush during his speech last night had nothing to do with all of Bush's efforts.

As Michelle Malkin points out, the President and his minions are now taking credit for the very policies they opposed.

Last night, I noted that much of the intelligence gathered that led to discovering bin Laden was developed by the detainees detained under the Bush administration at facilities like the one Obama wanted to shut down... Those facilities, US officials are now reporting, included the CIA secret prisons reviled by the Left, outed by the Washington Post, and condemned by... wait for it... President Obama.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Progressivism. But we already knew that.

I congratulate all the brave men and women who made this operation possible. We salute you.

No We Can't -- Michele Bachmann asks 'Do you want to live in a country that is "leading from behind?"'

I didn't hear a rimshot after a White House adviser described President Obama's foreign policy doctrine this way, so I assume it was serious.

Obama may be moving toward something resembling a doctrine. One of his advisers described the president’s actions in Libya as "leading from behind."

— Ryan Lizza, the New Yorker, May 2 issue

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann asks the candid question every American -- except you whack-job progressive drones -- should be asking.

Do you want to live in a country that is "leading from behind?"

...an Obama advisor describes the President's approach to foreign policy as "leading from behind," a "doctrine" that "comes from two unspoken beliefs: that the relative power of the U.S. is declining, as rivals like China rise, and that the U.S. is reviled in many parts of the world."

As a member of Congress and as an American, the notion that America is an exceptional place has given me a sense of optimism about our future that has guided me throughout my career and my life... To have a President who expresses the opposite, a pessimism about America's place in the world paired with an acceptance to let the world abuse us and pass us by, is unprecedented in the history of our nation...

...While the President tries to mask this with verbal gymnastics, the American people know that "leading from behind" is not leading at all--it is following and it is weak.

The America that we love is the giant that defeated the Soviet Union and liberated Europe, the inventor of the Internet and motorized transportation, and a great and giving people whose Navy accurately proclaims herself as "the global force for good." Whether we continue this legacy of greatness is not up to China, nor does it rely on the opinion of the international community. Our capacity to be great is far more personal, determined by the capacity for boldness possessed by each of us and by those who we trust to lead us--this is the core principle of the American spirit. Presidents from Roosevelt to Kennedy to Reagan did not just believe this notion, they shouted it from the mountaintops yet, contrastingly, for a President who made "Yes We Can" a household saying, this new "Obama doctrine" is better summarized by "No, We Can't." Americans know that we can do better.

Indeed we can.

Michele Bachmann is a patriot for speaking the plain truth about this disastrous administration. You can visit her Facebook page here and donate to her PAC.

I hope she decides to run, because I can unequivocally support Michele Bachmann for President.

Gas Pump Sticky Note Campaign Makes Its Way to Grocery Stores

From YourDaddy, citizen action at its finest.

The Sticky Note Campaign is making deliveries in Georgia Supermarkets now.  Super-Charged with Conservative ideals REAL Americans all over the country and even an awakened Democrat or two are now participating in this grass roots initiative.  Its not a partisan issue either, no one  can afford these rising prices at the gas pump or the grocery store.

I just realized that I need to order more FREE PRE-PRINTED Sticky notes from the Koch Brothers -- gotta go now.

Be sure take pictures of your STICKY NOTES, upload them to your Facebook, TAG all your friends in the pics and then also be sure to share them with the event page.

I like it. It's a simple way to highlight the effects of the Democrats' disastrous deficit spending, their insane drilling policies, and their hatred of all things free market.

The Atlantic: Donald Chump May Be Dumber Than You Think

"He may be dumber than you think: Exclusive research reveals "Celebrity Apprentice" viewers are the most Democratic in primetime TV"

If Trump's sharp right turn and populist rhetoric were ratings ploys, they were -- like his thrice bankrupt casinos -- monumental failures.

"Celebrity Apprentice" viewers are the most Democratic in primetime TV.

...the audience for "Celebrity Apprentice" is among the most liberal in primetime television (see graphic above). Rather than add viewers, Trump foolishly appears to be driving them away...

Trump's ratings have clearly dropped. The fall-off has been especially pronounced over the last few weeks, a period that coincides with Trump's emphasis on Obama's birth certificate. "Something is definitely going on there," another media buyer told me. "He's dropped -- and that's a big f***ing dip." Given the liberal skew of Trump's viewership, that dip might not be surprising.

The Republicans flirting with Trump ought to remember his history:

• He was pro-choice a few years ago; now he's pro-life
• He donated $50,000 to the malevolent Rahm Emanuel's mayoral campaign
• He also donated to the ludicrous Marxists Chucky "Schmucky" Schumer and Anthony's Weiner in the last election cycle
• Just a few years ago, he wanted George W. Bush impeached
• He's done absolutely nothing to support the Tea Party over the last two years
• And, despite virtually the entire House GOP's support for Paul Ryan's Budget plan, Chump portrays it as 'too extreme'

We don't need P.T. Barnum in the White House. We need a Constitutional conservative -- in the worst way. And Donald Chump ain't it.

Quote o' the Day Award Winner: Allen West

Interviewed on The Laura Ingraham Show, Rep. Allen West (R-FL) wins our coveted Quote o' the Day Award.*

On Michelle Obama's military outreach campaign:

"I think it's part and parcel with the fact that you heard the president announce his campaign, getting that kicked off, and of course you have to try to go out there and garner votes from what is a very conservative group of individuals--that's the United States military...

...60 percent of [military] fatalities in Afghanistan have occurred under his [Obama's] presidency... if this was the Bush administration, the media would be screaming bloody murder. But, of course, once again we see the 'Get Out of Jail Free' pass for President Obama."

On Austan Goolsbee's remark that S&P made a "political judgement":

"They don't want to hear the truth. ... They're so used to having the cheering, adoring mainstream media that is nothing more than their own cast of cheerleaders, much the same as an episode of Glee, and that's what they appreciate more than having real individuals sitting back and assessing this economic situation...

...What you continue to see is a third world dictator-like arrogance, that's what I saw in that speech [by Obama] last week. And look, Laura, to borrow a phrase from Reverend Jeremiah Wright, the chickens are coming home to roost...

...This whole talk about shared prosperity--that really gives me the goosebumps because I'm starting to believe that a community organizer is nothing but a low-level socialist agitator.

Wow.

We need more leaders like Allen West. These are statesmen (and women) who truly do speak truth to power. They stand for liberty against an out-of-control administration that can't or won't abide by our nation's highest law.

As an aside, how does a Bachmann-West ticket sound? Or a West-Bachmann ticket? Or a Palin-West ticket? You get the picture.

'They lost in the Supreme Court, they lost in Congress, they lost at the FEC, so now the president is just going to do it by edict'

Is this, as tipster "D&S" calls it, "Obama's Rubicon"?

An "impeccable source" alerts former Department of Justice Attorney Hans von Spakovsky to an imminent presidential executive order that would implement portions of the "DISCLOSE Act".

You may recall the controversial bill that Democrats tried to ram through Congress last year. Its intent was to make it more difficult for private individuals to fund campaign commercials while simultaneously shielding unions from disclosure requirements. In other words, Democrats -- true to form -- intend to limit free speech unless it politically benefits them. Former FEC Chairman Brad Smith characterized the DISCLOSE Act as "Democrat Incumbents Seeking to Contain Losses by Outlawing Speech in Elections Now".

Having failed to limit private speech in the Supreme Court (the Citizens United decision), having failed to pass the DISCLOSE Act itself, and having failed to railroad the Federal Election Commission, the president and his sycophants are using other means to achieve their extra-constitutional ends.

An impeccable source has provided me with a copy of a draft Executive Order (PDF) that the White House is apparently circulating for comments from several government agencies. Titled “Disclosure of Political Spending By Government Contractors,” it appears to be an attempt by the Obama administration to implement — by executive fiat — portions of the DISCLOSE Act.

This was the bill introduced last year by Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Chris Van Hollen to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United v. FEC. The bill had onerous requirements that were duplicative of existing law and burdensome to political speech. It never passed Congress because of principled opposition to its unfair, one-side requirements that benefited labor unions at the expense of corporations. Democratic commissioners at the Federal Election Commission then tried to implement portions of the bill in new regulations. Fortunately, those regulations were not adopted because of the united opposition of the Republican commissioners.

As my source says... " It really is amazing — they lost in the Supreme Court, they lost in Congress, they lost at the FEC, so now the president is just going to do it by edict."

The draft Executive Order says it is intended to “increase transparency and accountability,” an interesting claim given the fact that federal contractors are already completely barred by 2 U.S.C. § 441c from making [political contributions either directly or to third parties].

...The problem is that this will require companies to delve into the personal political activities of their officers and directors — and require them to report political contributions those employees have made, not out of corporate funds (which is illegal), but out of their personal funds.

And note that these disclosure requirements will only apply to companies that make bids on government contracts. Federal employee unions that negotiate contracts for their members worth many times the value of some government contracts are not affected by this order. Neither are the recipients of hundreds of millions of dollars of federal grants.

When it comes to the radical leftists controlling the Democrat Party, there really appears to be no limit to their disregard for the law.

The Democrats want 'transparency and accountability' requirements levied only upon their political enemies, presumably so that union thugs can harass private individuals. We saw them run this game-plan in Madison, where state officials were subjected to death threats and their homes picketed.

We are seeing the disintegration of the civil society occur right before our eyes.

Leftist Numb-Skull Polling Outfit: Donald Trump Wins GOP Nomination! Mike Huckabee a Close Second!

They wish.

Trump's broken the perpetual gridlock we've found at the top of the Republican field, getting 26% to 17% for Mike Huckabee, 15% for Romney, 11% for Newt Gingrich, 8% for Sarah Palin, 5% for Ron Paul, and 4% for Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty.

Trump may be a master showman, but a conservative candidate he ain't.

The man had high praise for Barack Obama in 2008.

"Bush has been so bad, maybe the worst president in the history of this country. He has been so incompetent, so bad, so evil that I don't think any Republican could have won," Trump told NY1.com in an exclusive Nov. 11, 2008, interview... "You know, you can be enemies with people, whether it's Iran, Iraq, or anyplace else and you can still have dialogue. These people wouldn't even talk with him. It's terrible," he said.

Regarding Obama, Trump said, "I think [he's] going to lead through consensus. It's not going to be just a bull run like Bush did. He just did whatever the hell he wanted.

Yeah, Trump's a frickin' genius.

As recently as last year, Trump contributed to the campaigns of the vicious Leftist hacks Charles "Schmucky" Schumer (which is the nickname he prefers, I hear) and Anthony "Horschack" Weiner.

As for the budget deficit, arguably our most pressing crisis, Trump is all but incoherent.

Folks, this election is too important to throw the dice on a modern-day P.T. Barnum. We need a serious, Constitutional conservative. Of the current set of possibilities, I see only Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Mike Pence, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, and Allen West as nominees I could support. Now, some aren't running this year. But some will. And I will support any of them over the hucksters and phonies the Beltway insiders and legacy media are supporting.

The stakes are too damn high in this election.

Obama vs. Perón: In Their Own Words

Juan Perón was the fascist dictator of Argentina who demonized the rich, asserted that the goal of a classless society could be achieved, and praised the construction of an all-powerful central government.

Sound familiar?

Using the transcript of yesterday's speech by President Obama regarding the budget deficit, let's compare and contrast various highlights with the famous speech of Juan Perón in 1950, in which he described the tenets of his philosophy of centralized government.

Obama: ...More than citizens of any other country, we are rugged individualists, a self-reliant people...

Perón: The best of this land of ours is its people.

Obama: But there has always been another thread running throughout our history – a belief that we are all connected; and that there are some things we can only do together, as a nation. We believe ... that through government, we should do together what we cannot do as well for ourselves.

Perón: We are an organized State and a free people ruled by a centralized government.

Obama: ...each one of us deserves some basic measure of security. We recognize that no matter how responsibly we live our lives, hard times or bad luck, a crippling illness or a layoff, may strike any one of us ... and so we contribute to programs like Medicare and Social Security... and Medicai... We are a better country because of these commitments. I’ll go further – we would not be a great country without those commitments.

Perón: The two main branches of Perónism are the Social Justice and the Social Welfare. With these we envelop the people in an embrace of justice and love.

Obama: ...we [do not] begrudge those who’ve done well [, but] those who have benefited most from our way of life can afford to give a bit more back. Moreover, this belief has not hindered the success of those at the top of the income scale, who continue to do better and better with each passing year.

Perón: There is only one class of men for the Perónist cause: the workers.

Obama: ...[We must] reform our individual tax code so that it is fair and simple – so that the amount of taxes you pay isn’t determined by what kind of accountant you can afford. I believe reform should protect the middle class...

Perón: ...In the New Argentina, work is a right which dignifies man and a duty, because it is only fair that each one should produce at least what he consumes...

Obama: So this is our vision for America – a vision where we live within our means while still investing in our future; where everyone makes sacrifices but no one bears all the burden; where we provide a basic measure of security for our citizens and rising opportunity for our children.

Perón: As a social doctrine, Justicialism presides over an adequate distribution of Social Justice giving to each person the social rights he is entitled to.

Obama: But no matter what we argue or where we stand, we’ve always held certain beliefs as Americans. We believe that in order to preserve our own freedoms and pursue our own happiness, we can’t just think about ourselves. We have to think about the country that made those liberties possible. We have to think about our fellow citizens with whom we share a community.

Perón: With reference to political action the scale of values for all Perónists is as follows: First, the Homeland; afterwards the cause, and then, the men themselves.

Obama: This sense of responsibility – to each other and to our country – this isn’t a partisan feeling... It’s patriotism.

Perón: As a political doctrine, Justicialism establishes a fair balance between the rights of the individual and those of the community.

Obama ...I know that if we can come together ... we will keep the dream of our founding alive in our time, and pass on to our children the country we believe in...

Perón: In the New Argentina the only privileged ones are the children.

Want to know how Perón's story ended? Hint: it includes the two words economic and collapse. You can review the illustrated "comic book" of the sad tale here: Don't Cry For Me, America.

Rep. Allen West on the Continuing Resolution Budget Scam: We're kicking the can down the road on the way to economic catastrophe

GOP superstar Rep. Allen West (FL-22) entered the following statement into the Congressional Record earlier today to express his extreme displeasure with the Continuing Resolution. He voted against it, joining

...When my daughter was born in 1993 the Federal Government debt was $4.3 trillion. Just 18 years later, I will shortly be faced with a vote on whether to raise the debt limit to over $15 trillion dollars. When I held my daughter as a baby, I never thought that our nation would be in such financial distress and on its way to a major economic catastrophe.

Over the weekend... I thought even harder about what the United States will be like when she will be my age and what would her son or daughter, my grandchildren, think when they look back in the history books at this critical time in our Republic’s history.

Last November, the citizens of the 22nd Congressional District, and millions of Americans, voted for a new direction for our country. They sent a message to our elected representatives that we needed to end out-of-control government spending, reduce our national debt, and get our fiscal house in order.

The Democrat Majority and President Obama over the last two years have produced deficits of $1.4 and $1.25 trillion, and the President has produced a Budget for Fiscal Year 2012 which would add another $1.6 trillion. The American people know that the federal government is collecting $2.2 trillion and spending $3.7 trillion this year.

The American people know that forty cents of every dollar the federal government spends is borrowed, much of it from China. The American people also know our nation is piling up new debt at the rate of $4 billion a day.

As we are all aware, the 111th Congress was controlled by overwhelming Democrat majorities in the House of Representatives and the United States Senate. Yet even with these enormous majorities, Congress failed to pass a budget or any of the Appropriations bills.

Members of the former Majority Party in the House of Representatives have now resorted to the political rhetoric that the Republican Party is trying to kill women, starve seniors, and the budget deal is the functional equivalent of bombing innocent civilians. They make these statements even after Majority Leader Reid and President Obama recognize that we need to cut federal spending,

This type of political rhetoric is beneath us. We can disagree on the direction we are taking our nation, but let us have a debate on the facts and policies. The American people demand an adult conversation instead of childish name calling.

Mr. Speaker, I want to take a moment to briefly summarize my thoughts and votes during the negotiations for the Budget for Fiscal Year 2011. I voted for the first short term Continuing Resolution in the 112th Congress in order to provide Speaker Boehner the necessary time to negotiate with an intransigent United States Senate and White House.

I voted against the second Continuing Resolution because I believed that we were continuing to kick a can down the road, and that the Obama Administration and Members of the Democrat Party wanted to force the Federal Government into a shutdown in order to win political points. It seems their goal is the hope that by shutting down the Federal Government, the American people will perceive an inflexible Republican Party and return the Democrats to power in the next election.

...At the Army Airborne school in 1984 I had a black hat instructor say, “If you set the bar low, you will jump low!” Today, I will be voting against the negotiated agreement because I believe that we set the bar too low and it does not fulfill the promise I made to the constituents of the 22nd Congressional District of Florida. While this bill is a step in the right direction, I am voting against the Department of Defense and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2011, H.R. 1473 because it is important for elected leaders to stand by the pledges we make to the American People.

It takes five miles to turn an aircraft carrier, I am pleased, that finally, the Republican Leadership has finally taken control of the helm and begun to turn the wheel. However, I believe we need to turn the wheel a little harder. At this moment in our nation’s history, when the facts are so clear and the political hyperbole is so hollow, my vote reflects that we need more to get our ship of state on the right course.

John Boehner may be a very patriotic citizen, but as a House Speaker he appears slow-witted and fearful of confrontations. When our country is headed right for the fiscal abyss, confrontations are precisely what we need. And the American people will support these fights. Hell, Mr. Speaker, why do you think we're calling you Mr. Speaker? And this ain't 1995, Karl Rove.

I salute Allen West, Michele Bachmann, Steve King, and the other House Republicans who opposed this historic scam. The time to fight is now. Door-to-door. Every block, every manhole cover. We must fight!

And, unlike the radical Marxist Left, we really are doing it for the children.

Self-Promoter, Oui. Economic genius, not so much: Trump's casino company files for bankruptcy for the third time

Self-promotion he knows. Politics? I'm not so sure.

In an apparent fit of premature sour grapes, Trump says that if doesn't win the GOP primary that he "could possibly win as an independent."

I think he means, when he doesn't win the GOP primary.

As for his vaunted economic credentials? As LegalZoom describes it, "You may have heard that business mogul Donald Trump has filed for bankruptcy. Again... While this isn't a personal filing, Trump is no stranger to bankruptcy. In February 2009, Trump's casino company, Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc., filed for bankruptcy for the third time."

To make matters worse, Donald Trump supported the campaigns of the malevolent Charles Schumer and Anthony Weiner, Democrat-Socialists of New York.

Trump has a lot more in common with Carmen Electra than, say, Michele Bachmann. We don't need a world-class self-promoter in office. We need a principled, Constitutional conservative. Trump ain't it.

Hat tip: @JimPethokoukis.

After today's budget revelations, I'd be too embarrassed to tweet this

RINOs lied, their credibility died.

Mark Levin was prescient on Saturday, asking: "What if $10 billion of the $38.5 billion actually is from the prior two CRs? And what if another $12 billion of the remaining $28.5 billion actually comes from a change in the budget baseline that would have occurred anyway?"

And that's precisely what happened.

So the RINOs in the House lied to us. They misplayed their hand and they lied. They cut virtually nothing from the budget that wasn't already getting cut.

It's time for new leadership in the House. New, conservative leadership who have as their goal the rescue of this country from the fiscal abyss. If that's extreme, then I want two hundred more extremists in Congress.

Epic Fail: John Boehner's $14.7B capitulation

Question: When is $100B in budget cuts actually less than $15B?

Answer: When a feckless House leadership gets played like a cheap accordion.

Remember that $100 billion in 2011 spending cuts the Republican minority promised to enact last October if they were able to regain control of the House?

During the recent midterm elections campaign, Republican leaders pledged to reduce non-entitlement spending by a whopping $100 billion.

“The Republican leadership has committed to this $100 billion cut,” says Brian Riedl, lead budget analyst for the Heritage Foundation. “I expect them to do everything in their power to enact it. They’re on the record, they ran on this, and if it’s brushed aside there would be harsh political consequences.”

There should be. Because, as it turns out, the "harsh, draconian" cuts that Speaker John Boehner negotiated last Friday weren't $100 billion or even the $38 billion figure that the Beltway insiders gleefully advertised.

The full extent of the budget deal reached late Friday did not become clear until today "after congressional aides worked all weekend and all day Monday to shape a detailed spending plan based on the framework that Obama and congressional leaders agreed to Friday," the Washington Post reports... "In several cases, what look like large reductions are actually accounting gimmicks."

National Journal: "The specifics show that finding nearly $40 billion in cuts during the 2011 fiscal year required clever accounting and, for the White House, a willingness to concede on rhetoric to find gains on substance. For example, the final cuts in the deal are advertised as $38.5 billion less than was appropriated in 2010, but after removing rescissions, cuts to reserve funds and reductions in mandatory spending programs, discretionary spending will be reduced only by $14.7 billion."

Let's recap.

Over the last two years, the Republicans -- Boehner and Cantor especially -- were treated like dirt by the Democrats. They were locked out of important policy debates, they were refused the opportunity to introduce amendments, and they had brutal bills like Cap-and-Trade and Obamacare slammed down their throats.

Furthermore, President Obama and the Democrats have set this country on a course for fiscal ruin.

The time for negotiation is long since past, yet the cowardly RINO leaders insist on "working with President Obama".

In the most recent case, Boehner held a nuclear weapon: a partial government shutdown. It was a weapon that has been used at least a dozen times in the recent past. Yet, right up front, Boehner told anyone who would listen that he would never shut down the government. Which meant he had no power in his "negotiations" with the radical Leftists who now control the Democrat Party.

And he got played.

$15 billion in cuts when $100 billion was promised? When the country is headed for a complete economic catastrophe?

We need a new Speaker of the House. Someone who will live up to their word. Someone like Michele Bachmann or Allen West.

As shutdown looms, President Obama could pay the troops with a stroke of a pen, just as Reagan and Clinton did. But he won't.

President Obama appears far more concerned with paying welfare recipients -- who receive checks during a federal shutdown -- than with our warriors serving around the globe. Because Obama is going to withhold military pay during the shutdown, something that neither Presidents Reagan or Clinton permitted.

During the last government shutdown, in 1995, troops continued to receive their paychecks...

...During the 1995 shutdown, the Clinton Administration followed the OMB guidance issued during the Reagan Administration. The Obama Administration, it seems, is tacking a different direction.

Let me be clear, the guidelines proposing to hold military paychecks are, according to the news reports, draft guidelines. It is possible the Obama Administration has abandoned these punitive guidelines. And, even if they implemented these guidelines, military personnel would most likely eventually receive their pay, once a budget agreement is reached. But, why even change the policy and subject our military to partisan political battles?

Why?

Because Barack Obama is a creature of politics, not leadership.

The President is withholding pay for our military while ensuring welfare recipients get their checks on time. Which is all you need to know.
