Surprise: Republican White Guy Beats Hispanic Female Progressive in Mostly Latino California District

How many elections does Karl Rove have to lose before he and the rest of the Beltway elites learn that pandering to different ethnic groups is a losing proposition? That liberty, private property rights, low taxes, and economic opportunity resonate with all people, regardless of race, color or religion?

A Republican in California won a state Senate seat on Wednesday in a District in which Democrats have a 22-point advantage and that is 60% Hispanic...

Andy Vidak, the Republican farmer, won the special election runoff for the 16th District Senate seat when his opponent, Democrat Leticia Perez, a Kern County Supervisor, conceded on Wednesday ... Vidak, a working class candidate, resonated with working class Hispanics in the district who also saw how coastal California elites were not putting their bread-and-butter interests first...

Vidak ran broadly on "the bifurcation of California: the coastal liberal elites versus the Valley folks." On a more local level, Vidak's theme of "fish versus farmer" resonated with Democrats in a District where the unemployment rate is 15% and as high as 30% in some communities in the District. Vidak reminded voters that liberal environmentalists, in order to protect fish, only allowed farmers to receive 20% of their water allocation, crippling the region's economy. He also stressed that Perez supported the the state's high-speed rail project that would have razed business, farms, and homes in the District. Because she supported the agenda of coastal elites and Democrat interest groups, Perez was able to raise twice as much money as Vidak, but 16th District voters ultimately rejected her liberal policies.

It is often said that California is a harbinger of things to come for the country. For Republicans looking at California, there has not been much of hope of late, but Vidak's victory could be a sign that areas that have traditionally voted for Democrats may give the right kind of Republican a chance as they see unemployment rates increase and opportunities for upward mobility decrease in their communities.

But apparently this lesson is too difficult for Karl Rove and the rest of the K Street consultant class to grasp.

Charles Payne: "President Obama would love to see civil unrest in this country very much like the Arab Spring"

In his eighth and most recent pivot to the economy, President Obama has begun channeling Saul Alinsky as though he's participating in a seance with the late Communist rabble-rouser. His rambling, 80-minute long, Castro-like speeches have increasingly revealed an inner anger with America (as noted by White House correspondent Keith Koffler).

Fox Business analyst Charles Payne sees an ominous method to the madness.

Stuart Varney: Obama used the term "inequality" more than he used the word "growth". And this is a problem, according to Charles Payne.

Charles Payne: It is a problem. He talked about [income inequality] being morally wrong. You know, Stuart, if you and I entered this building and there were different rules for each of us, that would be morally wrong. But if I dropped out of high school and smoked weed all day and you worked your way through college and made more money than I did, that's not inequality, that's just.

Here's what this president did: he tried to condemn capitalism. He tried to condemn success. He promotes mediocrity. And he's making excuses for people to fail in this country, instead of being honest about it.

His phrases: "people who lost their homes through no fault of their own", "people who lost their jobs through no fault of their own..." You know what: if I own a business and have 10 employees and things get bad, guess what? I'm not going to fire my best employees! Maybe you did lose your job because you weren't up to snuff!

The bottom line is this: the president is pushing this agenda. That America is somehow a mean-spirited country without opportunity and we're going backwards. When, in fact, every single year we get closer to that "more perfect union" that we strive for.

[On Obama's prediction that income inequality will increase and "social tensions will rise as various groups fight to hold on to what they have"]

In my mind -- and I hate to say this -- I think President Obama would love to see civil unrest in this country very much like the Arab Spring. I think what he's trying to do is to spark this revolution against the wealthy, against the "One Percent" who are holding us back, who are hoarding this money,

You know Democrats are trotting out this statistic about how much money the top one percent controlled in 1979 versus how much they control now. Well, it's quadrupled, as if it's the same group of people who've been greedy with money and greedy with opportunity.

You know who it is? It's a kid like Lebron James, who was in the bottom one percent and is now in the top one percent. And his salary skews that top one percent to make it look 400 percent better. What that number shows is that opportunities for America... not the bad part of America, the good part of America.

One of Obama's heroes was a man named Saul Alinsky. Community organizing got its start in Chicago under the direction of Alinsky, an avowed Marxist. Alinsky believed that poverty was the result of political inequalities.

Sound familiar?

What isn't widely known is that Alinsky also envisioned a power-grab by the "have-nots" of society, who would form massive, grassroots coalitions that would defeat the rich and redistribute their possessions.

An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released earlier this week revealed that "since January 2009, people’s opinion of race relations in this country has plummeted by 25 percentage points". Barack Obama and Eric Holder -- and their politicization of a single case in Florida involving a Hispanic and a Black -- have done their level best to foment anxiety.

If Payne is right, we are witnessing a modern-day Alinsky set the stage for civil unrest.

SKIN IN THE GAME: Obama Will Veto Defense Appropriations Bill Unless Health Premiums for Vets are Hiked

Guest post by Investors Business Daily

Politics: A veto of the defense authorization bill is threatened unless the president gets his way. He wants health care insurance premiums and co-pays increased for troops and scheduled military pay raises to be reduced.

Being used as photo-ops for presidential speeches and willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for your country apparently does not exempt our troops from the rising health care premiums that President Obama said, along with sea levels, would not rise under his administration. The next time a soldier hears "give me 50," it might be dollars and not push-ups.

The White House has threatened to veto the 2014 Defense Appropriations Act in part because it does not increase premiums and co-pays associated with Tricare, the Pentagon's in-house health system, and because it proposes a 1.8% pay increase instead of the 1% the administration demands.

Tricare, according to its website, "is the health care program serving Uniformed Service members, retirees and their families worldwide." As the administration pushes for higher health care costs for military personnel, the benefits of unionized civilian defense workers remain unscathed.

JUSTICE FOR CHRISTOPHER: 75% of House Republicans Want Select Committee on Benghazi, Boehner Refuses

Is there a more pathetic, ludicrous, cowardly and failed Speaker of the House in modern American history than John Boehner? That's a rhetorical question, as evidenced by Rep. Frank Wolf's yeoman's work in trying to get the GOP leadership to name a Select Investigative Committee on Benghazi.

Wolf himself explained the other day on the House floor.

I ask my colleagues if the Congress can answer these questions and, if not, why?

· Was there an intelligence failure in vetting the true loyalty of the Libyan security guards for the U.S. consulate? Which agency was responsible for vetting the militias?

· Who provided the terrorists with details of the consulate property? Was it the security guards or someone in the Libyan government who was notified about the ambassador’s visit?

· Why did the guards in the car outside the consulate not warn the U.S. staff of the gathering terrorists as they drove away a minute before the assault began? Were they complicit in the plot?

When the Congress departs for the August recess in two and a half weeks, will the American people know why, after a year of investigations, who provided the terrorists with insider information about the consulate property and the ambassador’s location?

Again, this is why I believe a House Select Committee is the best way forward to ensure that these and other unanswered questions are resolved. To date, 160 House Republicans – nearly three quarters of the entire Republican Conference – have cosponsored H. Res. 36 to create a Select Committee on Benghazi to ensure the American people learn the truth.

And this Boehner refuses to do.

Please read: The Complete Benghazi Timeline in Spreadsheet Format and then call John Boehner at (202) 224-3121 and demand a Select Committe on Benghazi.

Larry Grathwohl: R.I.P., American Hero

Guest post by James Simpson

America is a smaller place today. Larry Grathwohl, one of America’s truly unsung heroes, has died. He will be missed. Readers may recognize Larry’s name as the only informant to successfully penetrate Bill Ayers’ communist Weather Underground Organization (WUO). He wrote a book about his experiences, Bringing America Down: An FBI Informer with the Weathermen, re-released this spring.

During the run up to the 2008 election, an interview with Larry surfaced in which he described a meeting he attended where Ayers and company discussed how they would have to murder an estimated 25 million people following the revolution they were then attempting to foment. You can still see that interview, here.

Despite making the rounds of Fox talk shows and earning extensive write-ups in the blogosphere, Larry’s story was suppressed in the extremist left, Obama-promoting mass media. But why not, according to Obama, he was just a “guy who lives in my neighborhood.”

Sure. Nothing to see here, move along now…

Ted Cruz Introduces a 2-Page Bill to Completely Obliterate the Obamacare Train Wreck

Ted Cruz, as a freshman Senator from Texas, is doing more to fight for liberty than John Boehner and Eric Cantor (who happen to be in the majority) combined.

On Thursday, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced legislation in the Senate that would completely defund the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. He wasn’t alone in proposing the legislation either. The bill has 19 co-sponsors, all Republicans, including RINOs.

Amazingly simple, the Defund Obamacare Act of 2013 is only 2 pages.

...All 45 Republican Senators called for a permanent delay of Obamacare earlier this week in a letter to Barack Obama.

Cruz added, “The Administration’s selective enforcement of Obamacare’s implementation is no indication that the law is going away. To the contrary, it demonstrates the President’s unyielding determination to force the unworkable law on the American people.”

...Senator Cruz then put in perspective just how the IRS can no longer be trusted not only in the job they have been assigned with, but also the implementation of Obamacare. “Moreover, in light of the admitted misconduct of the IRS – targeting those whose political views differed from the President’s – we cannot trust the IRS to implement Obamacare. The American people cannot trust the IRS to create and enforce the largest federal database in history, containing the intimate details of our personal healthcare matters. And we cannot just wait for this law to implode under its own weight. The clock is ticking, and the time to act is now – Obamacare full implementation is set for January 1, 2014, but the enrollment for new entitlements starts on October 1, 2013.”

Democrat or Republican, call your Senators now and demand that they support the Defund Obamacare Act of 2013.

HERE IS THE TRANSCRIPT: Mark Levin Introduces His New Book "The Liberty Amendments: Restoring The American Republic"

Unlike the statists who defy, ignore and rewrite the Constitution for purpose of evasion -- as they push their big government rules and regulations -- I propose that we, the people, take a closer look at the Constitution itself for our preservation. The Constitution provides the means for restoring self-government and averting societal catastrophe. Or, in the case of societal collapse, resurrecting the civil society in Article V.

Article V sets forth the two processes for amending the Constitution, the second of which we're going to focus on. Article V says, in part:

Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress

Importantly, and I want to emphasize this, in neither case of amending the Constiiution does Article V provide for a Constitutional Convention. This is important, because you'll hear critics say, "We don't need a Constitutional Convention! We'll never get anyone better than the Framers!"

And they're right! This isn't a Constitutional Convention. This is a convention for proposing amendments to the Constitution.

In other words, Congress can propose amendments to the Constitution -- and has in 27 cases that have been ratified -- and the states can too, through the convention process. The first method, where two-thirds of Congress passes a proposed amendment and then forwards it to the state legislatures for possible ratification by three-fourths vote. And that has occurred 27 times.

The second method, involving the direct application of two-thirds of the state legislatures, for a convention of proposing amendments -- not a Constitutional Convention, a convention for proposing amendments, which would thereafter require three-fourths of the states to ratify -- has been tried in the past without success. And today it sits dormant.

The fact is: Article V expressly grants state legislatures significant authority to re-balance the Constitutional structure for the purposes of restoring our founding principles should the federal government shed its limitations, abandon its original purpose, and grow too powerful as many delegates in Philadelphia in 1787 at the Constitutional Convention feared.

Which is exactly why they provided for two methods of amending the Constitution. On June 11, 1787 -- at the Constitutional Convention -- George Mason of Virginia, one of the most underrated of the Founding Fathers and one of the greatest men in American history, who had drafted Virginia's "Declaration of Rights", the precursor to the Declaration of Independence... he responded to some of the delegates who didn't see the necessity of having the states propose amendments. Which Mason strongly advocated for!

In [James] Madison's Notes from the Constitutional Convention, he writes about Mason's comments:

Colonel Mason urged the necessity of such a provision : "The plan now to be formed will certainly be defective, as the Confederation has been found on trial to be. Amendments, therefore, will be necessary ; and it will be better to provide for them in an easy, regular and constitutional way, than to trust to chance and violence. It would be improper to require the consent of the national legislature, because they may abuse their power, and refuse their assent on that very account. The opportunity for such an abuse may be the fault of the Constitution calling for amendment."

And so there was some debate. And two days before the end of the Constitutional Convention -- on September 15th -- Mason was back at it. Mason, concerned that Congress would have the sole power to propose amendments, continued to insist on state authority to call for conventions. George Mason explained that an oppressive Congress would never agree to propose amendments curtailing its own tyranny.

Back to Madison's Notes, citing Mason, "thought the plan of amending the Constitution 'exceptionable and dangerous. As the proposing of amendments is in both the modes to depend, in the first immediately, and in the second ultimately, on Congress, no amendments of the proper kind would ever be obtained by the people, if the government should become oppressive, as he verily believed would be the case.'"

Quote, unquote, Madison's Notes, September 15th, 1787.

Mr. Governeur Morris, Mr. Eldridge Jerry of Massachusetts moved as to amend the article as to require a convention on application of two-thirds of the states.

And there you have it.

Under both amendment procedures, the Constitution requires at least three-fourths of the states ratify the amendment -- either by their state legislatures or by the state conventions. So again, rather than Congress proposing amendments, what's suggested here is that the states can and should convene to do the same thing.

Now: I was originally very skeptical of amending the Constitution by the state convention process. I, like many of you, was concerned that it could turn into a runawy caucus, And, as an ardent defender of the Constitution who reveres the brilliance of the Framers, I presumed this would play disastrously into the hands of the Statists.

But today but I am a confident and enthusiastic advocate for the process. The text of Article V makes it abundantly clear that there is a serious check in place, whether the product of Congress or the state convention, A proposed amendment has no effect at all unless ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the states or by the conventions in three-fourths thereof.

This, ladies and gentlemen, should extinguish concerns that the convention process could hijack the Constitution. It is impossible. And after more research and reflection, the issue crystallized further for me. If the Framers were alarmed that states calling for "a convention proposing for amendments to the Constitution" could undo the entire undertaking of the Constitutional Convention, then why did they craft, adopt and endorse the language?

And it was strongly endorsed in the Federalist Papers -- by Madison and Hamilton in Federalist 43 and Federalist 85.

And here's the beauty of the process: Congress' role in the state application process is minimal and ministerial. And it couldn't be otherwise, because the Framers and Ratifiers adopted the state convention process for the purpose of establishing an alternative to the Congressionally-initiated amendment process. That was the point.

Now you can see why the ruling class and their little mouthpieces are going to hate me: because this removes power from them.

It gives power to the state delegates and state senators, who you will have an effect on one day. And this is what my new book is about: The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic.

THREE CRISES: An Essay

Why am I a conservative? For one, I'm literate. I read history. I know that every government is a social experiment. Every one is an experiment in power and respect, truth and enlightenment, integrity and frailty.

And all too frequently, history teaches us that governments descend into corrupted forms of their original selves no matter how grand their vision. Hitler and Gaddafi, Stalin and Pol Pot, Ivan the Terrible and Genghis Khan are only the most infamous examples of murderous despots bent on destruction, pillage, and mass murder.

The old saw "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" is more than an old saw: it is a truism. Governments are populated with human beings, be they monarchs or elected representatives. And all too frequently -- in fact, in almost every case throughout history -- those in power prove susceptible to base urges, emotions, and predilections.

For most rulers, greed turns infectious. Power proves addictive. An almost sexual urge enervates them: to use every means at their disposable to remain seated at the levers of power. This insatiable urge appears wedded to compromised principles, which are inevitably explained away as somehow benefiting the people when in fact it is aimed only at satisfying the gut lust of rule.

Few rulers willingly leave their seats of power; they do so only when forced out whether at the point of a bayonet or through the ballot box.

All of this helps us put the American form of republican government in perspective. Our founders, unlike so many who had the chance, seized power not for themselves but for the people. These men risked their lives and fortunes to resist an unaccountable, authoritarian government. In doing so, they recognized that each attempt at government is a social experiment. Their unique experiences led them to despise tyranny and authoritarianism. They yearned for accountable and responsible government.

In formulating the American system, these men attempted to devise a set of restrictions on government -- on government, not the people -- that would guard against what they knew to be endemic corruption and avarice. Drawing upon the lessons of Montesquieu, Locke, and other political philosphers, these men created a framework for a republican form of government. They separated powers not only between branches of government but between the levels of government.

First Crisis: Leadership. Very few of our leaders -- of either political stripe -- honor their oath of office. Each places their hand on a Holy Bible and recites a pledge to uphold the Constitution. And yet, for the longstanding reasons of avarice and addiction to power, the vast majority promptly ignore the nation's founding document -- its highest law -- and willfully twist it into unrecognizable shapes.

We must demand in our leaders a basic fidelity to the Constitution and replace those who refuse -- whether through word or deed -- to honor it.

Second Crisis: Knowledge. Even a cursory study of human history would reveal a basic truth: the American form of government, while imperfect, is the most perfect structure ever arrived at by man. Whether judged by wealth, by tolerance, by good deeds, by charity, by invention, by scientific advancement, or simply by the number of people trying to immigrate, there can be no doubt that the American form of government has been more successful than any that has come before or since.

We must ensure that our family members, our friends and colleagues have a basic understanding of America's founding. The more one understands the unique, historical significance of America the less inclined he or she would be to sacrifice it on the altar of the Utopian promises of a charismatic demagogue.

Third Crisis: Will. It is easy to lose courage and hope. We live in truly challenging times; the most progressive and corrupt administration in American history -- aided and abetted by a complicit media -- has operated with lawless abandon in pursuit of its Marxist agenda. Even more discouraging are the ostensible leaders of the opposition party. Confronted with political and media bullies, they cower in fear. They stand not on principle or with the vast base of voters that brought them into power, but instead formulate policy behind closed doors with consultants, corporatist donors, and pollsters.

A third party is nonsensical. It is a vote to fail. We must become the opposition party within the opposition party. Just as Ronald Reagan fought the establishment for decades, so too must we continue to fight using the party only as a vessel for our needs.

We face three crises, each one seemingly more daunting than the last. But Americans have faced much tougher challenges before. Washington's surprise attack at Trenton, the Battle of Gettysburg, D-Day, Iwo Jima, Desert Storm, and many other dire struggles in hellholes around the world required the ultimate sacrifice from our best, bravest and brightest. Compared to those heroes, we have it easy.

Each of us can respond to these crises with three consistent actions: (1) vote for integrity; (2) share your knowledge, and (3) will yourself to take action. Each of us must become an agent for Constitutionalism unwilling to take no for an answer.

How the Tea Party Can Save America and the World – a Plea From New Zealand

Guest post by Trevor Loudon

Many Tea Partiers and American patriots understand that the fate of the United States of America hangs in the balance.

No melodrama here. If the US loses its position as the world’s number one military super power, another country, or countries, will take its place.

Realistically, that can only be Russia or China, or more likely, an alliance of Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Vietnam and whoever ever else climbs aboard.

As the U.S. Dollar slowly sinks and America’s prestige and power goes with it, the “Evil Axis” grows bolder.

But why should I care? I’m safe aren’t I? Way down at the bottom of the South Pacific, in New Zealand.
Well, maybe not so safe. China is steadily advancing through the Pacific. It now has several footholds in our region, particularly in Fiji, which is my country’s nearest major island neighbor. To any thinking Aussie or Kiwi, this is cause for major concern.

in June of 2012, Song Xiaojun, a “retired” Chinese general, told Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald, that “Australia has to find a godfather sooner or later…” “Australia always has to depend on somebody else, whether it is to be the ‘son’ of the U.S. or ‘son’ of China,” Song said, adding that Australia had best choose China because it all “depends on who is more powerful and based on the strategic environment.”

If America goes under folks, the West goes under. No ifs, no buts. Only a strong America can keep the bad guys in check. Just as soldiers from all over the world fought in Europe and the Pacific to save liberty in WW2, today’s freedom lovers need to join the fight to save the US. Once liberty was fought for in the Coral Sea, Guadalcanal, Normandy and Sicily. Now if liberty is to be saved, we must win the electoral battles of Florida, Ohio, Virginia and Colorado.

From my home in Christchurch, I recently spent an hour on the phone with a savvy Florida activist. She outlined for me the crushing problems being faced by American patriots, in the face of a relentless leftist onslaught from the Obama Administration. According to my usually optimistic friend, much of the Tea Party is in disarray, the GOP leadership is even more arrogant and out of touch than usual and if the Dems pass “immigration reform” the Republic will be swamped with millions of new loyal Democrats, effectively turning the US into a permanent “one party state.”

And to cap that, now I’m hearing whispers of a third party.

Let’s get real. There is only one vehicle that can take back America from the Democrats and their union and far left allies, in the very limited time we have left. That is the Republican Party. If the Democrats hold the Senate and take back the House in 2014, or even 2016, which they could well do, America is done for.

NOT SEN. MITCH McCONNELL: The Obama Administration's Fascist Attacks on Free Speech

Guest post by Not Sen. Mitch McConnell [R-KY]

The First Amendment is under attack. It is under a full-bore assault by Marxist, Progressive, foreign, and Democrat front groups, and this assault is coordinated directly by the White House. In fact, we have seen hard proof that this White House is more totalitarian, more fascistic, and more authoritarian in its behavior than any in American history.

An internal Media Matters memo from January 2010, and this group is linked directly to the mainstream media, to the Democrat Party and to the White House, revealed that news personalities and other executives at Fox News would be personally attacked -- up to and including intimidation techniques and veiled threats of violence.

We have seen a coordinated effort by the Obama administration, whether it be the FEC, the FCC, HHS, the SEC and the IRS, to target political dissent and free speech in ways that more resemble Chavez' Venezuela or Hitler's Germany than America.

When asked directly by Congress about targeting groups for their political affiliation, managers at the IRS lied to Congress repeatedly. We have identified literally hundreds of cases of the IRS targeting conservative groups to suppress their political activities -- and the IRS has prevaricated, obfuscated and resilitated (that's not a word, but it rhymed) discovery into their actions.

But this issue isn't about the IRS or any single agency. It's endemic to an administration built on a cult of personality and led by a charismatic ideologue who fashions himself as some sort of imperial president. His personal logo, like a swastika, is emblazoned on all of his propaganda material. His political action wing has assembled a massive database on Americans, according to the ethically challenged Democrat Maxine Waters, that would probably shock the average NSA analyst.

We had an inkling this was coming: when the President wagged his finger at the Supreme Court for its Citizens United decision in 2010, it was emblematic of a man who thinks like a dictator. There's a reason Obama, Schumer and the rest of the Marxist Left were so angry with the Citizens United decision: because it broke the media companies' monopoly on free speech.

Any corporation and organization should be absolutely free to participate in political speech, not just the companies that own newspaper and television stations. Why would companies that own news organizations get to own political speech?

Citizens United wasn't controversial in the least. It simply broke the Marxist Left's monopoly on political speech. That's why Obama and his ilk were so upset.

The reasons that donor lists to political groups remain utterly private are to prevent authoritarians from using the instrumentalities of government to target them. The FEC has protected the donor lists of the Socialist Worker’s Party since 1979. And the Supreme Court told the State of Alabama's racist Democrats it couldn’t force the NAACP to disclose the names and addresses of its members back in the 1950s.

No, we have an administration so laced with ideologues that it is willing to shred the Bill of Rights. They took an oath to uphold that which they despise and ignore.

And that is why tonight I, Not Mitch McConnell -- Not the Senate Minority Leader -- am announcing the following:

• I will organize filibusters of every bill more than the number of pages of the U.S. Constitution and which is not available for public review and comment -- unmodified -- for 30 days.

• No bill, nor any nominee, will be permitted to proceed through the Senate until we have full disclosure of all documents sought by the Benghazi, Fast and Furious, and IRS investigative committees in the House of Representatives.

• There will be no Amnesty for illegal aliens and no "comprehensive immigration reform" permitted until Democrats agree to secure the border. Period.

Why would Republicans cooperate with fascist bullies? The only way to beat a bully is to fight back. And the only way to beat a fascist is to wage total political war.

From this day forward, and until we receive satisfaction on the points listed above, I declare total political war on Obama, his administration and the Democrat Party.

When they renounce fascism, I'll welcome them with open arms. Until then, they can expect a rain of political ruin the likes of which have never before been seen in Washington. As the dumbest vice president in American history might say, "Gird your loins."

Note: This speech is based upon a real speech by Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell. In fact, this is a speech he would give if he happened to be a true statesman and conservative, which he is not.

#MASEN: Yet another lesson for Karl Rove, John Boehner, Jeb Bush and the Rest of the Republican Establishment Dopes

Courtesy of Dan McLaughlin (@baseballcrank), the accompanying chart illustrates the turnout and results for the last three Massachusetts Senatorial elections.

This year, former Naval Aviator and SEAL Gabriel Gomez faced off against a washed-up, liberal loser and perma-pol named Ed Markey. Markey had served in Congress since about 1912, if memory serves. And had Gomez been able to energize little more than half of the folks who had voted for Scott Brown, he'd have won the election.

But Gomez, for all of his impressive credentials, offered a political philosophy of pure mush. He offered no reason for a conservative to back him. On Fox News, he proudly proclaimed his support of Amnesty for illegal aliens, his belief in global warming, advocacy for gun control, and similar leftist leanings.

So why would anyone bother voting? All of those big government, Statist policy prescriptions came for free -- no strings attached! -- with Ed Markey.

Once again, there is a lesson for the Beltway establishment types like Karl ("1.8 percent victory rate") Rove. Not that they'll bother to absorb it, because they're too dense. Conservatism wins. Liberty wins. Constitutionalism wins. It wins every time when articulated by a coherent voice who doesn't pander, but explains and deconstructs the failures of the hard left Democrat Party.

A Marxist Lite philosophy can't win for Republicans. Dependence on big government, just not as big as the Democrats' idea of big government, can't win. No, Constitutional Conservatism can and will win.

And the pathetic clowns like Rove and Boehner will continue to lose elections and support until they finally comprehend this oh-so-difficult concept or they are booted out of power, which ever comes first.

The Ammo Shortage By the Numbers

The experts at AmmoLand downplay the conspiracy theorists and simply put elevated ammo prices on market dynamics:

I haven’t seen anything that suggests foul play of any kind, to me, it’s strictly supply and demand, and it shows you what panic in a market looks like... Rationing and price spikes are the result of demand far outstripping supply...

...A trusted source provided this:

“Take for example .22LR ammunition. The industry as a whole (all manufacturers combined) is setup to produce 4,200,000,000 (4.2 Billions) .22 LR annually. That is running all the machines, full capacity all the time, all manufacturers together.

There is NOTHING they can do to produce more.

That corresponds to 230,137 cartridge per State per day, which is 460 bricks of 500 .22lr per day per State. That means that if less than 50 people per day in each State are buying 10 bricks of .22, it is enough to dry up the entire supply as it is being manufactured.”

News from ammo makers seems OK too, but it’s right to be wary. Trust but verify. How do you do that?

If you don’t have ammo, you’re stuck in a high market. If you’re like many Americans, you’ll comfortably ride this out until the market corrects.

Eight of Top 10 States For Job Growth Share Windmill Farms and GOP Governors, But Mostly GOP Governors

Writing at ConservativeIntel, David Freddoso points us to the following data:

...the RNC needs to do more to showcase its governors and their successes. Here’s one of the things they should be talking about...

According to today’s release by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 31 of the 50 states have experienced significant job growth over the last 12 months.

It might not come as a huge surprise, but states with GOP governors (8 of the top 10) and right-to-work states (7 of the top 10, in bold) dominate the top of the list in terms of job growth over the last 12 months...

...some of the Republican governors of states not on this list are still okay. Gov. John Kasich’s Ohio doesn’t appear above, but in May it had a stronger month than any other state, gaining 32,000, jobs, or about as many as Maryland gained in the last year. Wisconsin’s Scott Walker is looking increasingly safe for re-election thanks to fiscal reforms and strong job creation last month (10,400) helps his cause...

Would that we had these kinds of conservatives in the Senate.

GREAT NEWS: China's Fighters and Drones Bear Uncanny Resemblance to U.S. Fighters and Drones...

...in what must be just a startling coincidence and not a case of widespread espionage and theft.

China’s models of military planes at the Paris Air Show bear resemblance to U.S. aircraft, drawing attention to the rising concern in the Defense Department that the country is using cyber espionage to obtain sensitive defense technology.

The state-run Aviation Industry Corporation of China had a large exhibit of military and civilian models of aircraft at the show, held outside Paris at the historic Le Bourget airfield... The display included three fighters and a drone: a single-seat version of the FC-1, a single-engine fighter built for the Pakistani air force and designated JF-17; a dual-seat variant of the FC-1 in development; the dual-seat, twin-engine L-15 trainer; and an unmanned system called Wing Loong.

The fighters looked like the F-16 made by Lockheed Martin Corp. and the drone bore resemblance to the MQ-1 Predator made by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc., without the inverted tail. The Chinese drone is designed as a low-altitude craft that can fly up to 16,500 feet and loiter for 20 hours... Notably missing from the exhibit was any display of the J-20, China’s classified stealth-fighter program.

...Obama faced pressure to raise the [espionage] issue after the recent leak of a classified section of a Defense Department report showed that designs for the most advanced U.S. weapons have been compromised by suspected Chinese hackers. The list of weaponry includes the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the Littoral Combat Ship, and the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System, among others.

...the People’s Liberation Army, or PLA, considers the strategy of “information dominance” a critical form of defense against countries that it views as “information dependent,” such as the U.S.

Since the days of Bill Clinton, Red China has bribed, bought, and stolen their way into countless classified defense programs. The feckless Obama administration is just one in a long line of catastrophic national security failures certain to cost American servicemen and women their lives.

MOVIE POSTER: Gen. Bennet Sacolick Presents a New Kind of Special Operator Because "The Days of Rambo Are Over"

You really can't make this s*** up:

Special forces opening to women; ‘days of Rambo are over,’ general says

A top general says cultural, social and behavioral concerns may be bigger hurdles than physical fitness requirements for women looking to move into the military's special operations units... Maj. Gen. Bennet Sacolick, director of force management for U.S. Special Operations Command, says "the days of Rambo are over."

He says he has seen women working alongside special operations teams in Afghanistan who met difficult physical requirements. But he says the commandos usually deploy as small teams, often with a dozen or fewer troops, in austere conditions for long periods of time.

NV Gov. Sandoval delivers sharp, openhanded, stinging slap to pint-sized, would-be dictator Michael Bloomberg

Here's a little bit of good news for regular Americans -- not irregular Americans, progressives, drones and other kooks -- that might just bring you a smile. Yesterday marked a particularly nice victory for gun rights and an especially painful smackdown for Bloomberg (the scale-model Fuhrer, not the news service).

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval just vetoed SB 221, an unconstitutional, New York-style bill that would punish law-abiding citizens for exercising their Second Amendment rights.

Gov. Brian Sandoval vetoed a bill Thursday that would have required a background check almost any time a firearm changes hands in Nevada, carrying through on his earlier promises to kill legislation that attracted interest in the wake of the Connecticut school shooting and a rampage at a Nevada restaurant in 2011.

In his veto message, Sandoval said the universal background checks provision "imposes unreasonable burdens and harsh penalties upon law-abiding Nevadans, while doing little to prevent criminals from unlawfully obtaining firearms."

[It] would have required a background check almost any time a firearm changes hands — regardless of whether the exchange is permanent or a loan — and enacted certain improvements to laws relating to mentally ill people and guns... Sandoval praised the mental health reporting requirements in his veto message, but the hotly contested background checks provisions constituted an "erosion of Nevadans' Second Amendment rights."

...It is a significant defeat for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's gun control advocacy group, Mayor's Against Illegal Guns, which spent hundreds of thousands of dollars working to get the bill passed.

The group bought numerous ads on social media sites, news websites and television, in addition to mailing out materials attacking select lawmakers who voted against the bill during the session. Video ads pressuring Sandoval to sign the bill surfaced immediately following the Assembly nod of approval.

...Notably absent in the veto message was any mention of the call records to this system. In the days leading up to the veto, tens of thousands of calls were being registered daily — with about three callers urging a veto for every one caller supporting the bill.

The NRA notes that it took "an extraordinary grassroots effort, thousands of concerned Nevadans called their representatives and Governor Sandoval's office in Carson City to oppose this legislation and remind those lawmakers that their duty is to protect our rights."

Well done, citizens of Nevada. And well done, Gov. Sandoval. We salute you.
