NUKE THE FILIBUSTER: Democrats Started the Fight, It's Time to Finish It

By Daniel Greenfield

Senator Harry Reid had big plans for the filibuster last year. The outgoing minority leader was bragging that the filibuster would be eliminated if Republicans tried to stop President Hillary Clinton’s judicial appointments.

"I have set the Senate so when I leave we’re going to be able to get judges done with a majority. It takes only a simple majority anymore," the top Democrat bragged. "They mess with the Supreme Court: it'll be changed just like that."

But instead of watching the maids hang up her pantsuits in the White House closets, Hillary Clinton is working on a collection of essays that she hopes someone will want to buy and Harry Reid is yelling at the children playing on his lawn. The Democrats don’t have the Senate or the White House.

And, as President Trump has urged, it’s time to nuke the filibuster.

PANIC AT THE P.L.O.: The Trump Way of War

By Caroline Glick

The PLO is disoriented, panicked and hysterical. Speaking to Newsweek this week, Saeb Erekat, PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas’s chief conduit to Israel and the Americans, complained that since President Donald Trump was sworn into office, no administration official had spoken to them.

“I don’t know any of them [Trump’s advisers]. We have sent them letters, written messages. They don’t even bother to respond to us.”

The Trump administration’s shunning of the PLO is a marked departure from the policies of its predecessor. For former president Barack Obama, together with Iran, the Palestinians were viewed as the key players in the Middle East. Abbas was the first foreign leader Obama called after taking office.

SURPRISE! MORE OP-EDS DISGUISED AS NEWS STORIES: Oil and Gas Regulation Edition

By William Teach

Reason #45986758677984232 that the Credentialed Media has lost trust, as the NY Times publishes what is essentially an activist opinion piece by Eric Lipton on page A1 of the Sunday NY edition. This might as well have been written by the office of Nancy Pelosi:

G.O.P. Hurries to Slash Oil and Gas Rules, Ending Industries’ 8-Year Wait

(the headline on the web front page is “GOP Leaps to End Oil And Gas Rules)

The document carried the title “A Roadmap to Repeal,” a concise list of Obama administration environmental regulations that a Koch brothers-backed group was pressing President Trump and Congress to quickly reverse after Inauguration Day.

The Six Funniest Trump Butthurt Magazine Covers

Okay, Jon Gabriel over at Ricochet curated these. And they're hilarious.

Yeah: I do the tough work of copying and pasting his work to benefit you, my dear and precious readers. The covers include:

• Trump extinguishing the Statue of Liberty's Torch.

• Oh. Even better: Trump beheading the Statue of Liberty.

• A demonic Steven Bannon portrayed as Trump's Svengali (I remember when Valerie Jarrett, a slumlord of the highest order, was so depicted).

And... here they all are:

CHART: In the Entire History of the Republic, the Democrats' Level of Obstructionism Has Never Been Seen Before

By ARsquared

The Senate Democrats’ obstruction of President Trump’s cabinet nominees has reached a record-setting level. Yesterday, ABC News reported: “President Trump has more unconfirmed Cabinet nominees at this point in his term than all previous presidents combined.” Senate Democrats have failed to a historical magnitude to offer deference to the president, running counter to what they argued for during previous administrations.

NICE: Jerry Brown and California Democrats Pledge to Let Citizens Die so Violent Criminals Can Thrive

By Lloyd Billingsley

“Could California Become a Sanctuary State under Trump?” ran the January 26 headline in the Sacramento Bee. Readers can lose the question mark because governor Jerry Brown has been protecting violent criminals since the 1970s.

In 1973, American Indian Movement co-founder Dennis Banks was convicted of riot and assault for a 1973 courthouse gun battle in South Dakota. Banks had been having an affair with AIM activist Anna Aquash, who in 1976 was found murdered, shot through the back of the head. That year Banks fled to California, and Governor Jerry Brown refused to extradite him.

How Hillary is Helping Pave the Way to Trump's Second Term

By Daniel Greenfield

When all the campaign booze was downed and the last “I’m With Her” balloons were popped, bleary Democrat hacks rose from stained couches to try and explain the election to the rest of their party.

Two explanations made the rounds like the last champagne bottle for a victory that never came.

Hillary was a bad candidate. Her shady financial dealings made her untrustworthy. The more she tried to appeal to everyone, the less she appealed to anyone. She was better at hitting up big donors at glitzy parties than at interacting with working class voters. And the huge campaign machine they financed was no substitute for voter excitement.

FINALLY: “As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice"

Who'd have thunk it? After eight interminably long years, we finally have a real life, actual, pro-American President.

...national security adviser Michael Flynn [announced today] that the U.S. is “officially putting Iran on notice.”

“There are a large number of options available to the administration. We are going to take appropriate action and I will not provide any further information today relative to that question,” a senior administration official told reporters... “The important thing here is we are communicating that Iranian behavior needs to be rethought by Tehran.”

Judge Neil Gorsuch: A Worthy Heir to Justice Scalia

From NRO: "A Worthy Successor to Antonin Scalia".

Gorsuch is an originalist, as represented by this paragraph:
Judges should instead strive (if humanly and so imperfectly) to apply the law as it is, focusing backward, not forward, and looking to text, structure, and history to decide what a reasonable reader at the time of the events in question would have understood the law to be — not to decide cases based on their own moral convictions or the policy consequences they believe might serve society best. As Justice Scalia put it, “if you’re going to be a good and faithful judge, you have to resign yourself to the fact that you’re not always going to like the conclusions you reach. If you like them all the time, you’re probably doing something wrong.”

EXHIBIT 16 QUADRILLION AND 42: Why Donald Trump Is President

By Lawrence Sellin

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Steve “Darth Vader” Bannon, Chief Strategist and Senior Counselor to the President, said:

“The media here is the opposition party. They don’t understand this country. They still do not understand why Donald Trump is the president of the United States.”

I would add to that the Democratic and Republican party leadership.

ANALYSIS: TRUE. Is Google News Suppressing Center-Right News Sites?

The big story this evening is the fact that President Trump has fired the acting Attorney General, a far Left Obama holdover.

Her dismissal was well-deserved, given the fact that she ordered the Justice Department to ignore the Commander-In-Chief's entirely legal order, one similar to bans enacted by Presidents Obama and Carter.

But I was fascinated to see the Google News coverage of the event.

Check out the top story this evening:

GRAPHIC: Comparison of Number of Cabinet Nominees Confirmed by Senate

Once again, just when you thought Democrats couldn't go any lower, they begin excavating another sub-basement, Comet Pizza-style.

A quick comparison of President Donald Trump with his Democrat predecessors shows that his nominees are not being treated with the same courtesy that both Bill Clinton & Barack Obama received in the aftermath of their swearing-in.

PASS ME A TISSUE, TITO: DHS Still Enforcing President's Ban on Travel From 7 Terror-Linked Countries

By William Teach

Trump passed his so-called ban on Muslims, and a judge jumped in.

(The Hill) A federal judge in New York has issued an emergency stay temporarily halting the removal of individuals detained after President Trump issued an order to ban immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S.

BUMMER: Trump Plans to Cut EPA Staff by Only 50 Percent

I spoke too soon. It's a damn good start:

President Trump is seeking to slash the number of workers at the Environmental Protection Agency by at least half, leaving it significantly gutted as the administration mulls further cuts, the former head of Trump's EPA transition team said Friday.

LATEST DEMOCRAT TANTRUM: Trump Immigration Orders Make America Less Safe or Something

By William Teach

What Mr. Trump should have done was sign an order resettling all of the Muslim “refugees” in rich, liberal-populated areas and near Democrat Party lawmakers' homes. Not just liberal cities, but near the posh areas.

It would have been interesting to see how Democrats would have objected. Instead, we end up with this bit by former Obama flunky David Benjamin:

IN LESS THAN A WEEK: POTUS Enacts 6 of the Top 10 Immigration Enforcement Actions

By Roy Beck

As the Trump Administration rolled out the new orders on immigration enforcement yesterday, we at NumbersUSA noticed a lot of very familiar ideas.

They were on our list of the 10 most important actions needed to reduce the current and future illegal population of the country. We assembled the list last summer. We looked over the dozens of actions that would be helpful and chose 10. We then arranged them in order of which ones would have the most impact on the reduction.

First, here is the statement I put out to the nation's news media yesterday:

MEXICO HARDEST HIT: Hey, It Turns Out Trump Wasn't Kidding About That Wall!

By Matthew Vadum

Blasting President Donald Trump for his Twitter-based demands that Mexico free up the pesos needed to build a U.S.-Mexico border wall, President Enrique Peña Nieto abruptly pulled out of a planned summit with Trump.

Answering Trump in kind, the Mexican head of state tweeted midday Thursday in Spanish, "We have informed the White House that I will not attend the working meeting planned for next Tuesday with @POTUS[.]"

The previous night Peña Nieto had reiterated his government’s opposition both to the wall and to his country paying for it. "I regret and reject the decision of the United States to continue building a wall that, far from uniting, divides us," he tweeted according to an apparently reliable English translation.

In an unprecedented round of refreshingly transparent social media diplomacy, Trump, the master negotiator, published two tweets baiting his Mexican counterpart:

FLUSH THE MEDIA: What President Trump Should Do Next

By Daniel Greenfield

Last week the media lost its mind over reports that press briefings might be moved from the White House back to the Eisenhower Office Building next door where President Eisenhower held the first ever televised press conference.

Media outlets issued panicked reports of being “evicted,” “kicked out” or “exiled” from the cramped theater that used to be the White House’s indoor swimming pool. There was outrage at the thought that they might have to take an equally short walk to the White House Conference Center where they had already worked while the Bush White House spent millions in taxpayer money renovating the room.

Soros and the March of Hate

By Matthew Vadum

On Saturday, the nation’s capital was inundated with masses of loud, obnoxious, foul-mouthed Trump-hating women (and some men) at what was billed the “Women’s March on Washington.” The Guardian called the event a “spontaneous” action for women’s rights, while Vox spoke of a “huge, spontaneous groundswell” behind the march.

While the mainstream media bombarded news consumers with news stories claiming few Americans were interested in the inauguration festivities, television ratings for President Donald Trump’s inauguration were the second-highest Nielsen has recorded in 36 years, drawing 30.6 million TV viewers across 12 networks. Factoring in live streams provided by the networks, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other online portals adds millions more viewers to the total. But what happened Saturday at the “Women’s March” was not spontaneous. No mass rallies are, especially on the Left.

This so-called “protest”, like the violent attacks orchestrated by the DisruptJ20 coalition on pro-Trump events such as Friday’s “DeploraBall” at the National Press Club, was not an organically generated demonstration.

The usual culprits were involved behind the scenes using the same fascistic tactics they used to shut down the massive Trump campaign rally at the University of Illinois at Chicago in March last year.

COMMENT O' THE DAY: An Open Letter to NBC's Clueless Executive Teeam

A superb open letter to NBC's executive team by "Captain America", spotted at Weasel Zippers and edited only sligthly for readability:

I honestly don't give a rat's ass about President Donald Trump's tax return. I highly doubt your claim that 70 percent of Americans want to review his return. Most people don't even know how to review a 1040 and supporting schedules. Besides, you were so accurate in your polls during the election and predicting who would win.

In fact, I have about zero percent confidence in your reporting. I took a statistics course in college. The first day of the course my professor said you can make stats say anything you want them to say. So every time you flash your "trusted" poll numbers up on the screen, I know you are spreading fake news and B.S. It's unfortunate that the poorly educated and low information Americans don't understand that. But that is your target audience isn't it?
