How Democrats Destroyed Atlanta

By John Perazzo

Atlanta, Georgia has not been governed by a Republican mayor since 1879. Most significant is the fact that the city has been led exclusively by Democrats since the 1960s and early '70s, the period when the Democratic Party emphatically broke away from centrist liberals and fell predominantly under the sway of its far left wing, a course which it still follows to this day.

New York Times quite perplexed about failing socialist states in South America

By William Teach

The Editorial Board of the NY Times is Very Concerned about the state of the nations in South America, noting just how bad it all is, thanks to Leftism

The Left on the Run in Latin America

In 2004, President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela and the Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, launched the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our Americas, a regional alliance of leftist leaders designed to subvert a hemispheric free trade agreement that the United States had been pushing for a decade.

DEAR DEMOCRATS: America Ain't Denmark

By Richard Larsen

At a recent Democrat presidential debate, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders said we “should look to countries like Denmark…and learn from what they have accomplished for their working people.” The good senator should either rephrase his statement, or look more closely at the data. Democratic-socialism may work in some places in Europe, but was never intended, nor can it work, in the United States of America.

Another of Sanders’ erroneous statements regarding Denmark was when he claimed that Denmark’s economic model “provides extraordinary security and opportunity.” It does provide security, but little opportunity, economic or otherwise.

ILLINOIS: Only 7,500 teachers getting $100K a year pensions... for life

By ACC

My family is full of teachers. I respect teachers. I value what they do. But let’s get real here. This – as my old buddy might say – is “a straight up jack move” from the unions. This is theft from the taxpayers. Sorry. I know your union “negotiated” the pensions with politicians which got money from your union but it is just stealing with the veneer of bureaucratic legitimacy. You know it. We know it.

The median household income (total) in Illinois is $54,916.

GOOD NEWS: Brokety-brokest State in the Union Wants to Tax Drivers by the Mile

By Hilary Gowins

Illinois already hoses drivers at the pump – now, one of the state’s most powerful politicians is eyeing a new way to collect road-usage taxes from all drivers – and to make sure electric-car drivers don’t slip through the cracks.

Illinois Senate President John Cullerton’s Senate Bill 3267 would require all drivers – not just those with electric cars – to pay a per-mile road-user fee starting July 2017. Drivers would still be required to pay gas taxes at the pump, but would receive a tax credit from the state to cover the number of miles they drive per month, according to the legislation.

If Cullerton’s plan becomes law, drivers would have to pick one of three tracking options: two plans that utilize tracking devices, or a third option through which drivers pay a flat $450 per year.

SALON: Democrat-Run Education System Responsible for Our "Disgraceful State Of Politics"

By William Teach

Salon is one of the main websites to head to when you want to see what the nutter Democratic Party base really thinks. Er, feels. Every once in a while, they unintentionally land on a real truth. In this case, how bad the education system is. Obviously, they fail to assign blame, which lands almost entirely upon the Democratic Party. Poll after poll after poll, article after article, protest after protest, they all show that the vast majority of teachers vote Democrat. Sure, not all of them are the nutters creating songs about Obama and forcing students to do exercises that make them “understand radical Islam”, and aren’t freaking out about water pistols and finger pistols, but, they vote Democrat. Their unions are chock full of the more hardcore Progressives, which vote Democrat. And we end up with this, where the subhead is the actual meat of the article

America 1956 vs. America 2016

By Michael Snyder

Is America a better place today than it was back in 1956? Of course many Americans living right now couldn’t even imagine a world without cell phones, Facebook or cable television, but was life really so bad back then? 60 years ago, families would actually spend time on their front porches and people would actually have dinner with their neighbors. 60 years ago, cars were still cars, football was still football and it still meant something to be an American. In our country today, it is considered odd to greet someone as they are walking down the street, and if someone tries to be helpful it is usually because they want something from you. But things were very different in the middle of the last century. Men aspired to be gentlemen and women aspired to be ladies, and nobody had ever heard of “bling”, “sexting” or “twerking”. Of course life was far from perfect, but people actually had standards and they tried to live up to them.

So how did it all go so wrong?

SCANDAL: V.A. Stiffing Doctors, Abusing Vets to End Challenge to Government Unions

By Luke Rosiak

A free-choice program implemented to get veterans crucial medical care is under siege because the Department of Veterans Affairs has not paid millions of dollars owed to the doctors providing it.

Now, the VA employee union, which opposes letting veterans get care outside their system in the first place, is citing VA employees’ failure as the reason to abort the fix.

Congress approved the Choice Card program in 2014 after a flood of media reports of veterans dying as VA facilities across the nation manipulated official data to conceal long delays in scheduling appointments.

SURPRISE! "Grassroots" Effort to Push $15 Minimum Wage Actually a Massive Astroturf Campaign Funded by SEIU

By Connor D. Wolf

Critics are pointing to a financial disclosure report as evidence that the self-proclaimed grassroots movement Fight for $15 was actually orchestrated by a major labor union.

The Fight for $15 movement has fought since 2012 to raise the national minimum wage to $15 an hour. The movement has seen several successes on the local level from across the country. It has been marketed as a grassroots rise of low-wage workers, but the movement is highly paid by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), according to a recent federal expenditure report.

“SEIU’s latest financial disclosure once again exposes the remarkable degree to which the ‘Fight for $15’ campaign is bought and paid for by big labor bosses trying to stay relevant in the 21st century,” America Rising Squared Executive Director Brian Rogers said in a statement provided to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

CON ARTISTS: How the Democrat Party Eviscerated the Black Family Unit

By Crystal Wright; adapted from her book Con Job: How Democrats Gave Us Crime, Sanctuary Cities, Abortion Profiteering, and Racial Division.

It’s well known how in 1965 Daniel Patrick Moynihan, assistant secretary of labor to Democrat President Johnson, warned that the black family was on the verge of a “complete breakdown” because of growing illegitimacy rates: in 1963 the out-of-wedlock birth rate for whites was 3 percent, and for blacks it was 23.6 percent.

Moynihan was part of a generation of Democrats who cared about lifting blacks up into the ranks of equal opportunity with whites, back in the days before the Democrat Party became completely morally corrupt.

GEE, I WONDER WHY THE VOTERS ARE ANGRY? GOPe sells out on... Common Core, of all things

By Genevieve Wood

To watch the recent happenings on Capitol Hill, you would think this was just another typical presidential election year—a few bumps here and there, but no sign of a major shake-up, no indication voters were in revolt, nothing to suggest business as usual in Washington was perhaps falling out of fashion among the American public.

What else explains the lackluster, uninspiring; and, I would suggest, “sell-out your base” agenda of GOP congressional leadership?

FOR THE WIN: Chicago Tribune Refuses to Endorse Any Democrat for President

By Wallace P. Crundersnap, III

After endorsing Barack Obama three times for President, the Chicago Tribune is refusing to endorse either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.

With a sluggish economy and skyrocketing debt, all we’ve heard from the Democrats are promises of more spending that ignore “economic reality.”

Here are the highlights of the Tribune’s non-endorsement.

CATACLYSM: 30 Blocks of Democrat Governance

By Jim Quinn

“Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance. No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have researched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.” – H.L. Mencken, Notes on Democracy

I’ve written dozens of articles about the 30 Blocks of Squalor over the years. The 30 blocks are essentially from 69th Street to 39th Street encompassing the wretched potholed route from unsafe Upper Darby through the killing fields of West Philly. The fine union government workers in the Streets Department have consistently maintained Chestnut Street in a constant state of disrepair. Not that drivers notice.

Failed Dept. of Education Cyber-Security Chief Ran Car Detailing, Home Theater Businesses On the Side

By Ethan Barton

Hundreds of millions of Americans are at risk of identity theft because the Department of Education’s cyber chief spent his time detailing cars and allowing his office’s morale to crumble.

The Department of Education’s inspector general has repeatedly reported the agency is “vulnerable to security threats.” The watchdog simultaneously investigated Chief Information Officer (CIO) Danny Harris – who received more than $200,000 in federal bonuses – for side businesses that involved his subordinates, according to House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Jason Chaffetz .

Chicago Public School System Cancels Bond Sale Due to Global Warming and No Buyers, But Mostly No Buyers

By Ted Dabrowski

Chicago Public Schools, or CPS, needs to issue $875 million in long-term bonds to help the district avoid bankruptcy – but on Jan. 27, the school district backed out of the planned sale. The district announced that it has postponed the bond sale and will assess the situation on a day-to-day basis.

The failure to issue the bonds means the district has to postpone the refinancing of several debts. According to CPS, $340 million of the total borrowings will be dedicated to refinancing old debt, and nearly $90 million will go toward paying off other short-term loans. The district plans to use nearly $400 million to pay for capital projects.

FLINT: The Democrats' Filthy Water

By Daniel Greenfield

Mayor Dayne Walling, a Democrat, led a cheerful countdown at the Flint water treatment plant to press the button moving the city over to river water. Walling and Darnell Earley, the Democratic emergency manager, even raised glasses in a toast and drank the water to show that it was safe.

“It’s a historic moment for the city of Flint to return to its roots and use our own river as our drinking water supply,” Walling said. “The water quality speaks for itself.”

"SLAVE LABOR": Hillary Confidante Cheryl Mills Pushes Manufacturing in Ghana with its 23¢ Minimum Wage

By Richard Pollock

Cheryl D. Mills, long-time friend and confidant of Bill and Hillary Clinton, is promoting a 23 cents-an-hour wage in the West African nation of Ghana to lure textile and apparel industry companies to invest there even as the former secretary of state advocates a $15-an-hour “livable wage” here.

Mills’ newly formed firm, the BlackIvy Group, LLC., makes the pitch with a powerpoint presentation that was obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

DEMOCRAT PARTY SUCCESS STORY #83,010: Pictures of drinking water Flint, MI residents were told was safe to drink

Flint, Michigan is one of many blue hell-holes infamous for forced unionism, easy access to welfare, and outrageously expensive benefits for public sector workers. Its economy imploded decades ago and the pain still continues for the dazed retinue unable to move away.

The latest debacle? To save money, the bankrupt city government switched its water supply from Detroit's system to one sourced by the Flint River.

The Flint River water was found to contain lead that had leached from ancient plumbing systems.

The result? There have been 87 confirmed cases of Legionnaires' Disease in Flint, including 10 deaths, from June 2014 to November 2015, compared to only 10 cases a year as recently as 2013.

PURE EVIL: Chicago’s Property Tax-and-Graft Scheme Revealed

By Mike Shedlock

On October 28, the Chicago City Council passed the largest property-tax hike in modern city history by a vote of 36-14, approving Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s 2016 budget proposal.

Taxpayers will have to fork over another $588 million property-tax hike to be phased in over the next four years.

Some businesses and taxpayers will simply flee, joining what now is best viewed as the "Great Illinois Exodus".

Someone always benefits from these tax-and-spend schemes. Who is it?
