DOING THE JOBS AMERICANS WON'T DO: Illegal Alien Convicted of Raping 67 year old

Guest post by The Machiavellian

Lopez-Bautista, at his trial, called this a land of opportunity. Why, yes it is, for enterprising criminals from Mexico.

BALLSTON SPA -- Antonio Lopez-Bautista, an immigrant who entered the country illegally and attacked and sexually assaulted a 67-year-old woman on the city's west side last May, was sentenced Monday to spend a determinate sentence of 11 years in jail.

After he serves the sentence, he will be deported to his native Mexico.

Lopez-Bautista, a 19-year-old resident of South Federal Street in Saratoga Springs, was convicted of attempted kidnapping, sexual abuse, two counts of assault and criminal obstructions of breathing. He was acquitted of another assault charge, first- and second-degree robbery and attempted rape.

The violent attack was captured on surveillance video and showed Lopez-Bautista sneaking up to the victim's car and opening the door, pulling her out, dragging her down the street and ripping off her clothes. The victim was waiting for her husband to leave work at about 4 a.m.

...Before he was sentenced, an interpreter read two letters on behalf of Lopez-Bautista, one written to the victim and the other to the judge. In the letters, Lopez-Bautista apologizes many times and asks for mercy from the judge. He also says his inebriated state, from an abundance of alcohol and cough syrup, is to blame for mistaking his victim for a political oppressor in Mexico.

...On Monday, new information regarding Lopez-Bautista's illegal entrance to the United States came to light. He first came into the country illegally via the Arizona border in April 2009. He was deported that time, but successfully crossed into the country again one month later. He has illegally remained in the country since.

"I will never return to this country again, although it was filled with opportunity," Lopez-Bautista wrote.

Just read all of the stories and here that I have gathered over the years. These aren’t isolated events, but rather a wave of criminals hiding among a wave of illegal immigrants.

Stop the latter and you end the first.

CHANGE: U.S. Admiral Warns that Red China is Poised to Become Dominant Superpower in Pacific

Guest post by Investor's Business Daily

Power Shift: Despite the White House's much-lauded pivot to the Pacific, the Navy's Pacific commander warns that an increasingly hostile and assertive China threatens U.S. air and sea superiority in the region.

If jaws didn't drop, they should have last week when Adm. Samuel J. Locklear III, chief of U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM), said: "Our historic dominance that most of us in this room have enjoyed is diminishing, no question."

U.S. naval and air superiority, particularly in the Pacific, has been taken for granted. But as Obama administration budget cuts and the effects of sequestration take their toll, our position is being severely challenged by a Chinese military benefiting from years of double-digit spending increases and a commitment from Beijing to push the U.S. out of the area.

Locklear noted the regional power shift at the annual Surface Navy Association conference in Virginia.

"We need to think about all scenarios, not just the ones we've been dealing with over the last several years, where we've enjoyed basic air superiority and basic sea superiority," he said. "There are places in the world where in this century we won't have them."

The Relentless Hillary Clinton

Guest post by Alan Caruba

Who said:

• “We’re going to take things from you on behalf of the common good”

• “It’s time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few, and for the few…and to replace it with shared responsibility, for shared prosperity”

• “(We) …can just let business as usual go on and that means something has to be taken away from some people.”

• “We have to build a political consensus and that requires people to give up a little bit of their own…in order to create this common ground.”

• “I think it’s time to send a clear message to what has become the most profitable sector in the entire economy that they are being watched.”

• “I certainly think the free market has failed.”

Was it Joseph Stalin? Lenin? Hugo Chavez? Kim Jong II? All reveal a communist philosophy.

It was Hillary Clinton. Over the years, Hillary has made it clear that the redistribution of wealth—communism—is central to her beliefs and that her regard for capitalism and the free market economy of America is nil.

The election of Hillary Clinton would be an extension of the two terms of Barack Obama and, if possible, worse.

How to Prevent Another World War

Guest post by James Carafano

Gavrilo Princip was no sharpshooter. He didn’t have to be. His target passed just feet in front of him. Princip plugged the heir to the Hapsburg throne in the jugular vein. Archduke Franz Ferdinand bled out in his car.

That single killing sparked a global slaughter. European security issues had grown so tangled, mangled and confused that no amount of statesmanship or diplomacy could keep the dogs of war at bay.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Great War that engulfed the world in violence, toppled nations and empires, and left millions starved or slaughtered. It offers modern civilization only one profitable lesson: If global peace is the goal, don’t live in world like that.

After Napoleon’s defeat in 1815, the European powers ensured general peace by each carving out its own sphere of influence and respecting those of the others. That arrangement generally worked, until the rise of Germany in the last quarter of the 19th century upset the status quo.

JUST, WOW: Obama's refusal to name Al-Qaeda in Benghazi attack prevents military from pursuing killers

Guest post by Investor's Business Daily

War On Terror: By refusing to acknowledge the role of al-Qaida-linked terrorists in the Benghazi attack, the administration has kept our military from hunting down and killing people responsible for the deadly 2012 attack.

There would seem to be no shortage of targets for America's fleet of drones after the Senate release of a report documenting, despite the efforts of the New York Times and others to revive the video lie, the presence and participation of terrorists from no fewer than four al-Qaida-affiliated groups on the ground in Benghazi.

Among the al-Qaida-affiliated groups involved in the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack, according to the Senate report released last week, were groups such as al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, the Mohammad Jamal Network and Ansar al-Sharia, the terrorist group that actually took credit for the attack as it was happening, according to communications received by the State Department that night.

A month later, President Obama said of the attack that "my biggest priority now is bringing those folks to justice, and I think the American people have seen that's a commitment I'll always keep."

Yet so far the only individual apprehended and incarcerated for the Benghazi attack is the hapless Coptic filmmaker responsible for the video the Obama administration used as an excuse, even though, as we have noted, military leaders informed the president that night that it was a terrorist attack.

As The Hill reports, it is the refusal by Obama and his administration to designate those responsible for the attack as members of al-Qaida or its affiliates that prevents the U.S. military from apprehending or targeting them under the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), which allows the military anywhere in the world to move against al-Qaida and "associated forces."

TED CRUZ: Senate Report on Terror Attacks in Benghazi Raises More Questions Than It Answers, Hillary

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) released this statement on the Senate Benghazi report released earlier this week

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following on yesterday’s Senate Select Committee’s Review of the Terrorist Attacks on U.S. Facilities in Benghazi, Libya:

“The majority views of the SSCI report confirm a number of things long suspected about the Benghazi attacks. Our government was warned, and there were steps that could have been taken to protect Americans,” Sen. Cruz said. “But our people were left at significant risk against a known terrorist threat, and when the attack came, there was no help to send. After the attack, the Obama administration tried to mask its failure with false claims of a protest over an Internet video. All the while, the terrorists who carried out this attack are still at large. Most chilling, however, is the conclusion that the attacks were preventable in the first place.”

On the first anniversary of the attacks, Sen. Cruz filed a resolution (S. Res. 225 with 24 Republican co-sponsors) calling for a joint select committee that would put all the resources of both Houses of Congress behind a thorough investigation that could answer the basic questions that remain. For instance:

· Why did any of this happen in the first place?

· Why was there no appreciation for the repeated intelligence warnings about the security situation in Libya?

· Why were the repeated requests for more protection refused?

· Why were no military assets made ready near this acknowledged terrorist hot spot on the anniversary of September 11, 2001?

· Why did the Obama administration falsely insist the attacks were the result of a spontaneous protest over an Internet video?

· Why has no one in our government been held accountable for these failures?

· Why has no terrorist been punished for this outrage?

“This most recent committee report is a valuable bi-partisan effort that demonstrates how reasonable people on both sides of the political aisle are inching closer to consensus on what happened before, during, and after the attacks on our facilities in Benghazi,” Cruz continued. “But it also starkly demonstrates that we are still far from getting clarity on why any of this happened. Unfortunately, this report thus raises more questions than answers. Until we can answer the basic questions that remain, we cannot in any way be confident that history, like the al Qaida terrorists who have attacked us so often, is not preparing to repeat itself. As the minority additional views conclude, the American people and, most importantly, the families of the victims deserve the truth.”

"Obama knew Benghazi was a terrorist attack before he went to bed to rest for a Las Vegas fundraiser"

Guest post by Investor's Business Daily

Deceit: Newly declassified transcripts show top defense officials who briefed Obama on the day of the Benghazi attack described it as a terrorist attack and told the president so, yet he pushed a false narrative about a video.

Just as the new book by former Defense Secretary Bob Gates confirmed what many believed, that President Obama was a politically motivated commander-in-chief who had no faith in an Afghan surge he put 30,000 Americans in harm's way to execute, transcripts of congressional testimony by military leaders confirm that President Obama knew Benghazi was a terrorist attack before he went to bed to rest for a Las Vegas fundraising trip.

Fox News reporter James Rosen examined 450 pages of declassified testimony given by senior Pentagon officials in closed-door hearings held last year by Congress. In those hearings, Gen. Carter Ham, who at the time headed Africom, the Defense Department combat command with jurisdiction over Libya, testified that he learned about the assault on the consulate compound within 15 minutes of its start, at 9:42 p.m. Libya time, from the Africom Command Center.

Ham said he immediately contacted Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey to say he was coming down the hall at the Pentagon to meet with him.

"I told him what I knew. We immediately walked upstairs to meet with Secretary Panetta," Ham testified, adding "they had the basic information as they headed across for the meeting at the White House."

Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, an Iraq war veteran and Army reserve officer, asked 29-year Army veteran Ham what he told Panetta and Dempsey. "As a military person, I am concerned that someone in the military would be advising that this was a demonstration. I would hope that our military leadership would be advising that this was a terrorist attack," Wenstrup said.

Fmr. Kerry Aide: Iran Should Not Be Required to Cease Terrorism Against U.S.

A longtime aide for Secretary of State John Kerry is urging senators to oppose a new Iran sanctions measure because it would level tough penalties on Tehran should it carry out a terror attack against Americans anywhere in the world.

Rouhani: World powers ‘surrendered’ to Iran with nuclear deal

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani boasted on Twitter that the United States and other world powers effectively "surrendered" to Tehran with the newly struck nuclear deal.

Defense minister trashes Kerry and his peace proposals

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon lashed into US Secretary of State John Kerry and savaged US-led peace talks with the Palestinians in private conversations, according to a Tuesday report in a major Israeli daily... [saying] Kerry'[s] peace plan as being “not worth the paper it is printed on” and something that won’t provide security for Israel... The report also quotes Ya’alon calling Kerry “inexplicably obsessive” and “messianic” in his efforts to coax the two sides into a peace agreement. Ya’alon said Kerry has “nothing to teach me about the conflict with the Palestinians.

QOTD: Whoops!

It's worth reading, and then re-reading, this snippet courtesy of Jim Geraghty:

Whoops: "U.S. officials have told the Washington Post that they believe that former Guantanamo Bay detainee and al-Qaeda-linked militant Abu Sufian bin Qumu was involved in the September 11 terrorist attack that killed four Americans in Benghazi, Libya — a claim specifically denied in the New York Times' report last week about the tragedy."

As Obama Appeases Iran, its Terror Proxy Hezbollah Dramatically Upgrades Missile Threat To Israel

Guest post by Investor's Business Daily

War On Terror: As we ease sanctions on Tehran and worry about Israeli condos on the West Bank, Iran and Syria are helping Hezbollah import strategic weapons systems into Lebanon, targeting our closest Mideast ally.

When Hezbollah launched a war against Israel in 2006, the Iranian-created terrorist group sent a message to both Israel and the U.S. to watch their strategic back.

Any move against Tehran's nuclear sites would be met by strikes against our Mideast interests not only from Iran, but from the territory of Lebanon, using that country as a launching pad and its people as human shields.

During that war, Hezbollah used weapons supplied by Iran and transported through Syria. Long-range rockets bombarded northern Israeli towns and villages, even reaching the Israeli port of Haifa. Since then, Hezbollah has replenished and expanded its stockpiles and is believed to have stored as many as 100,000 rockets and missiles of various types for a future offensive.

Through its creation of Hezbollah, Iran has transformed Lebanon into a satellite. Lebanese democracy is all but gone, with Hezbollah having obtained virtual veto power in the Lebanese Cabinet. Opposition to Syrian and Iranian influence has been dealt with by a campaign to decapitate the opposition's leadership.

Mohammed B. Chattah, a former Lebanese government finance minister and ambassador to the U.S., was among six victims killed and assumed to be the target of a bomb that detonated in Beirut recently. He was the latest pro-Western and pro-democracy Lebanese politician to be assassinated in a long campaign to eliminate opposition to Syria, Iran and Hezbollah's interference in and domination of Lebanon.

Tehran's use of Lebanon as a strategic base took a step forward, as the Wall Street Journal reports, with the news that long-range surface-to-surface missiles given to Hezbollah by its allies Iran and Syria have been disassembled and moved to Lebanon.

THE BENGHAZI WHITEWASH: The New York Times engages in outright journalistic malpractice

Guest post by Kenneth Timmerman

The New York Times has done excellent reporting on Libya. The newspaper was among the first to reveal that U.S.-approved arms for the Libyan rebels had fallen into the hands of jihadi groups and, more generally, on the rise of al Qaeda-affiliated groups in Libya and North Africa. So the paper’s Dec. 28 “investigation” that determined with utter certainty that the attacks of Sept. 11, 2012, in Benghazi were caused by a YouTube video would be baffling if it weren’t so obvious an attempt to exonerate the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton from responsibility for the deadly failures in Libya that cost the lives of four brave Americans.

The Times’ report misconstrues known facts and simply sweeps under the table mountains of evidence of al Qaeda’s ties to Libyan jihadi groups.

In June 2012, for example, more than a dozen different jihadi groups put the black flag of al Qaeda on parade in Benghazi in what they hoped would be a three-day show of force. Thousands of jihadi fighters, many of them in Pakistani and Afghan dress, paraded through the streets of Benghazi with hundreds of gun trucks.

For The New York Times, though, the black flags were merely “the black flags of militant Islam” and apparently bore no relation to al Qaeda. “Benghazi was not infiltrated by al Qaeda,” The Times flatly asserted.

In August, Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens put his name to a cable with the auspicious title, “The Guns of August,” that explicitly warned about the security vacuum in Benghazi and Tripoli. “What we have seen are not random crimes of opportunity, but rather targeted and discriminate attacks,” the cable warned.

It was one of dozens of cables detailing the growing chaos in Libya that were turned over to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee after repeated stonewalling by the State Department. My sources say it came on the heels of an alarming security briefing by the CIA chief of station for Stevens and the Embassy security team. But for The New York Times, the cable simply “struck an understanding tone about the absence of effective policing.”

John Kerry's Tenuous Grasp on Reality Endangers the Entire World

Guest post by Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger

The value of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's assessments and proposed peace agreement, which would reduce Israel to a 9-to-15 mile waistline (the pre-1967 lines), in the increasingly raging Middle East, is consistent with Kerry's track record.

Kerry's Syrian track record

Until the eruption of the civil war in Syria, Kerry was a member of a tiny group of U.S. senators -- along with Chuck Hagel and Hillary Clinton -- who believed that President Bashar Assad was a generous, constructive leader, a reformer and a man of his word. Kerry was a frequent flyer to Damascus, dining with Assad and his wife at the Naranj restaurant in central Damascus. Following a motorcycle ride with Assad, he returned to Washington referring to the president as "my dear friend."

In September 2009, Kerry opined that "Syria is an essential player in bringing peace and stability to the region," while Assad was conducting hate-education, repressing his opposition, hosting and arming terrorist outfits like Hezbollah, cozying up to Iran, and facilitating the infiltration of jihadists into Iraq to kill U.S. soldiers. WikiLeaks disclosed that on February, 2010, Kerry told Qatari leaders that the Golan Heights should be returned to Syria and that a Palestinian capital should be established in east Jerusalem. "We know that for the Palestinians the control of Al-Aqsa mosque and the establishment of their capital in east Jerusalem are not negotiable."

According to the London Telegraph, Kerry was a fierce critic of the Bush administration's hardline against Assad, advocating a policy of engagement -- rather than sanctions -- against terror-sponsoring Syria. In March 2011, Kerry subordinated reality-driven hope to wishful-thinking-driven hope: "My judgment is that Syria will move; Syria will change, as it embraces a legitimate relationship with the United States and the West." However, more than 200,000 deaths and 2 million refugees later, Assad's Syria has certainly changed for the worst. In January 2005, following another meeting with Assad, Kerry said: "This is the moment of opportunity for the Middle East, for the U.S. and for the world. ... I think we found a great deal of areas of mutual interest ... strengthening the relationship between the U.S. and Syria."

On September 3, 2013, Kerry assured his colleagues that "the Syrian opposition has increasingly become more defined by its moderation." However, Assad's opposition consists, mainly, of anti-U.S., Islamic supremacists, Shariah-driven, anti-democracy, the violently intolerant Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaida, whose subversive vision transcends Syria, encompassing the Abode of Islam as a prelude to the grand assault on the Abode of the Infidel.
