ONE CHART TO RULE THEM ALL: You'll never guess which political party leads in poverty and crime

I'd be more a lot more snarky if the human toll wasn't so devastating. The sad fact remains: progressives don't get it and never will.

Their policies are based on emotion, not facts. Feelings, not human experience.

Their policies are those of a cult, not a real political party.

Most political parties recognize when, for example, six decades of failure have left some of their primary consitituency groups in ruins.

Democrats don't.

They never learn because they're incapable of learning.

Common Sense --- 2017

By Jim Quinn

Thomas Paine was born in 1737 in Britain. His first thirty seven years of life were pretty much a series of failures and disappointments. Business fiascos, firings, the death of his first wife and child, a failed second marriage, and bankruptcy plagued his early life. He then met Benjamin Franklin in 1774 and was convinced to emigrate to America, arriving in Philadelphia in November 1774. He thus became the Father of the American Revolution with the publication of Common Sense, pamphlets which crystallized opinion for colonial independence in 1776.

The first pamphlet was published in Philadelphia on January 10, 1776, and signed anonymously “by an Englishman.” It became an instantaneous sensation, swiftly disseminating 100,000 copies in three months among the two and a half million residents of the 13 colonies. Over 500,000 copies were sold during the course of the American Revolution. Paine published Common Sense after the battle of Lexington and Concord, making the argument the colonists should seek complete independence from Great Britain, rather than merely fighting against unfair levels of taxation. The pamphlets stirred the masses with a fighting spirit, instilling in them the backbone to resist a powerful empire.

7 DISASTROUS RESULTS OF OBAMA'S LEGACY: Exhibit 1, a Zombiefied Democrat Party

Writing at the invaluable Post -- referring, of course, to the New York Post, not the DNC sockpuppet known as WaPo -- Deroy Murdock offers the following concise summary of O-Fail:
As President Obama concludes his reign of error, his party is smaller, weaker and ricketier than it has been since at least the 1940s. Behold the tremendous power that Democrats have frittered away — from January 2009 through the aftermath of Election Day — thanks to Obama and his ideas:

JIM QUINN WARNS: Obama and the Democrats Have Strapped a Fiscal Suicide Belt to the Entire Country

Writing at The Burning Platform, econ blogger Jim Quinn offers a comprehensive summary of the fiscal time bomb that Barack Obama and the Democrat Party have bequeathed to this and future generations. Read the whole thing, but here are some nuggets to raise your blood pressure a couple of dozen points.

Quinn covers, among other things, what real inflation looks like:
The Fed narrative of no inflation, supported by the sliced, diced, manipulated, massaged, hedonically and seasonally adjusted drivel produced by the government drones at the BLS, has benefited from the almost two year decline in gas and oil prices. That is now reversing itself, as gasoline prices have risen at an annualized rate of 20% over the last three months. It is poised to rise by 30% to 40% year over year in the next few months. Even the Deep State government bureaucrats are having trouble disguising raging inflation in expenses affecting average Americans on a daily basis.
How about the real housing situation?

THE CPFB: Utterly Unconstitutional

By FreedomWorks

Two months ago, the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit officially ruled that the structure of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is unconstitutional, a criticism that has been leveled at the agency since its creation in 2010. The court found that so much unaccountable power was concentrated in the person of the director of the CFPB that it could not pass constitutional muster. Under the court’s ruling, the director now will be removable at will by the president, just like the head of any other agency. This represents an important blow for the system of separation of powers enshrined in the US Constitution.

The CFPB, created by the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act, was intentionally created to be unaccountable to the American people and their elected representatives in many ways:

DEATH SPIRAL: Are you living in a state poised for economic collapse?

By Mac Slavo

Being on the hook is not going to be pretty when interest rates are raised back up, and debts come due. At a personal level, it will mean more stress and juggling to make ends meet. For the larger economy, it will mean cities and states unable to meet obligations or balance their budgets – ending in bankruptcy, and bailouts. Meanwhile, millions of people are relying on that money to keep coming in order to survive. Something is going to go very wrong.

Relying upon government to function and send you money is not a secure plan.

The mathematics are terrifying and dismal, and so is being caught up in these collapsing states.

GETTING IN BED WITH GOVERNMENT: Cronies, Kleptomaniacs and Criminals

By Jim Quinn

The recent deal to keep Carrier jobs in the United States is not at all unusual. It only received so much press because Trump made it a campaign issue and saw an opportunity to record a big early PR victory before he even took office. Government and corporations cooperate, negotiate deals, scratch each others backs, kickback ill-gotten gains, and function as a career advancement funnel for corrupt politicians.

In reality, the intertwining of government and big business meets the definition of fascism. A centralized autocratic government that picks winners and losers, while suppressing un-favored companies or industries, meets the definition of fascism. Fascists let business remain in private hands, but use regulations, laws, tax benefits, and the distribution of goodies to control the economy. Big business serves politicians and government bureaucrats instead of their customers.

SANCTUARY: Rahm Emanuel Begs Donald Trump For Mercy

By Matthew Vadum

Chicago is one of the best places to live in America if you’re one of the millions of illegal aliens present in the country -- and free-spending, lawbreaking Mayor Rahm Emanuel is trying his best to keep it that way.

Emanuel (D), who used to be a congressman and then President Obama’s chief of staff, dropped by Trump Tower in New York on Wednesday to urge President-elect Donald Trump to abandon his campaign promise to crack down on sanctuary cities.

“I also spoke out strongly about what it means to be a sanctuary city who will support and secure the people who are here, like my grandfather who came to the city of Chicago as a 13-year old 100 years ago,” said Emanuel who actually has no real bargaining power in the equation because he’s on the wrong side of the law.

BUMMER: GOP Plans Immediate Obamacare Repeal and Delay

By William Teach

You can’t just rip the bandaid off:

(NY Times) Republicans in Congress plan to move almost immediately next month to repeal the Affordable Care Act, as President-elect Donald J. Trump promised. But they also are likely to delay the effective date so that they have several years to phase out President Obama’s signature achievement.

This emerging “repeal and delay” strategy, which Speaker Paul D. Ryan discussed this week with Vice President-elect Mike Pence, underscores a growing recognition that replacing the health care law will be technically complicated and could be politically explosive.

GOOD THING DEMS RENAMED FOOD STAMPS TO SNAP: Otherwise we'd have confused it for a massive giveaway of soda and energy drinks

By Tyler Durden

A new study just released by the USDA, offers a very detailed look at exactly how participants in the "Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program" (SNAP, aka Food Stamps) spend their taxpayer-funded subsidies.  Unfortunately for taxpayers, the amount of money spent on soft drinks and other unnecessary junk foods/drinks is fairly staggering.  But, we suppose it's a nice taxpayer funded subsidy for the soda industry...so score one for Warren Buffett and the Coca Cola lobbyists.

Per the study, nearly $360mm, or 5.4% of the $6.6BN of food expenditures made by SNAP recipients, is spent on soft drinks alone.  In fact, soft drinks represent the single largest "commodity" purchased by SNAP participants with $100mm more spent on sodas than milk and $150mm more than beef.

3 Things Congress Must Do To Prepare For a Trump Administration

By Mike Needham

Earlier this month, voters all across the country shocked the political and media establishments. America’s message was simple: We are tired of corrupt insider dealing in Washington and the self-serving nature of the establishment political class.

This didn’t happen by chance. Millions of Americans found a reason to engage in the political process. Whether it was opposition to massive unconstitutional government, a desire to drain the corrupt swamp, or an understanding of how much progressivism is hurting our nation, these Americans rallied around Donald J. Trump.

Congress will be making decisions on the budget and will have the opportunity to lay the groundwork for a full repeal of Obamacare under a Trump administration.

Democrats Suddenly Supportive of Federalism!

By William Teach

Why? Obviously, because of Trump. Liberty Unyielding’s J.E. Dyer runs a story with the headline "BloombergBusinessweek floats absurd fiscal threat against Trump from California".

It’s based on California Democrats throwing a hissy fit and threatening political war against the Trump administration or something. It’s worth the full read, but, here’s a good part which caught my attention:

THE FORGOTTEN MAN: No Longer Forgotten?

By Richard Larsen

To those on the East coast or the left coast, the rest of the nation is merely “fly-over country.” It’s comprised of common men and women who work hard, want to raise their families in a safe and free country, and want the government to quit striving to micromanage their lives. We are the ones for whom the ruling class has nothing but contempt, describing us as a “basket of deplorables.” We represent the “forgotten man” in America. Donald Trump in his victory speech early Wednesday morning declared, “The forgotten men and women of America, will be forgotten no longer.”

Donald Trump not only defeated Hillary Clinton, but symbolically triumphed over the political elite, the media elite, a globalist establishment, a reluctant party, and the governance establishment that tramples the interests and needs of the “forgotten man” for their own aggrandizement. He quashed the motives and means of the arrogant statists who assume unto themselves the nanny role of governing and ruling every aspect of our lives. The results of the election Tuesday constituted an emphatic reply to the ruling elite, “Enough is Enough!”

A Quick, Heartfelt Thank You Note to My Democrat Colleagues

The headline at Ann Althouse's place says it all: "The Democrats will now control next to nothing above the municipal level."

She points to a a despondent Jim Newell at Slate (I read it, so you don't have to) who offers us a long overdue obituary for the mummified husk of the far left Democrat Party.

The Democratic Party Establishment Is Finished

The Democrats will now control next to nothing above the municipal level... The Democratic Party establishment has beclowned itself and is finished...

...I think of the lawmakers, the consultants, the operatives, and—yes—the center-left media, and how everything said over the past few years leading up to this night was bullsh**...

SOCIALISM RETAINS ITS PERFECT RECORD: Corpses 'Exploding' In Decrepit Venezuelan Hospitals

By David Paulin

It was one of the more macabre stories to emerge out of socialist Venezuela -- and served as a metaphor for the final days of the rotting regime.

In a hospital morgue, a bloated corpse exploded.

The morgue's barely functioning cooling system was to blame – hardly a surprise in the oil-rich yet impoverished nation whose health-care system has collapsed under the socialist government. Decomposing for two days in the tropical heat, the corpse finally exploded in a spray of toxic fluids and gasses. The ghastly incident earlier this month necessitated the partial evacuation of the hospital, University Hospital Antonio Patricio de Alcalá, located in Cumaná -- a city of 825,000 in eastern Venezuela. Patients in nearby rooms and corridors were sickened to their stomachs by the stench.

FISCAL SUICIDE: Is Obama Opening Up the Federal Spending Floodgates to Get Hillary Elected?

By Jim Quinn

During the last year of his reign of error, our beloved Nobel Peace Prize winner, Obama ran out of government accounting gimmicks to falsely proclaim Federal deficits have been falling. His legacy of debt accumulation will go down in history as the last dying gasps of a crumbling empire built upon Keynesian delusions, political corruption, and a Deep State establishment hellbent upon retaining power at the cost of global war and financial collapse.

The entirely fabricated government propaganda data point known as the Federal deficit skyrocketed by 34% in fiscal 2016 (Federal year is Oct. 1 to Sept. 30). The reported deficit in FY15 was a mere $438 billion. Obama and his brain dead minions had boasted about such a small deficit. The country has been in existence for 227 years and Obama had the balls to boast about “achieving” the 8th highest deficit in our history. Just for some context, the savior also led the country to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th highest deficits in the country’s history. Bumbling Bush achieved the 7th highest in the glorious year of 2008.

MUST SEE: Researcher Rich Weinstein Nukes Tim Kaine From Orbit

You may recall Rich Weinstein from his outstanding expose of Jonathan Gruber, the architect of Obamacare. Weinstein found videos of Gruber mocking "the stupidity of the American voter" for allowing Obamacare to pass through Congress.
“And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but, basically, that was really, really critical to getting the thing to pass,” Gruber says of the Affordable Care Act in an academic lecture on Oct. 4, 2013...

In another [video], Gruber discusses how a trick in wording hides a large tax that is passed onto consumers... “Because the American voter is too stupid to understand the difference,” Gruber says, prompting laughter from the audience.
Now Weinstein has turned his research spotlight on Tim Kaine and discovered a treasure trove of startling statements by the Democrat VP candidate. You can follow Rich on Twitter for his full timeline, but the highlights are startling all by themselves:

How 2008 Changed Everything

By George Friedman

Over the last few years, the question of immigration has become a dominant issue in the West.

In the United States, immigration has emerged as one of the pivot points in the presidential election. In Europe, as well, immigration has become a political pivot. Immigration has always been a contentious issue.

In the United States, where immigration was indispensable for the construction of the nation, the arrival of Irish Catholic immigrants in the 1840s created a profound crisis. The dominant Protestants feared the loyalty of the Catholics.

MONEY-LAUNDERING EXPOSED: 14 Pro-Clinton Super PACs and Non-Profits Implicated

By Andrew Kerr

This is serious.

  • David Brock operates over a dozen pro-Clinton organizations from his office in Washington DC.
  • Uncovered records expose a constant flow of money between his organizations.
  • Brock’s unregistered Professional Solicitor, the Bonner Group, receives a 12.5% cut every time money is moved.

There’s a reason why David Brock chooses to house an unregistered Professional Solicitor in his office to raise money for his conglomerate of Super PACs and non-profits.

Professional Solicitors are required to disclose their active solicitation contracts. Brock wants his unregistered solicitor, the Bonner Group, to keep their client list hidden for a very specific reason:

Will Donald Trump Usher in a Post-Progressive Era in American Politics?

By Lee Cary

Win or lose, the candidacy of Donald Trump is a victory for the Tea Party.

And should he win, he can be a transitional president for the nation.

Trump may be the last chance, for many decades, for America to achieve escape velocity from the advancing gravitational grip of the socialist progressive agenda that began in the 1880’s.

Since then, it’s been a succession of two steps forward and one step backward on the progressive movement’s relentless march toward an ever larger and more intrusive central government.
