HIGH-LARIOUS: Man With $7 Million Yacht Lectures India on Carbon Emissions, Links Them to Deadly Floods

There's hypocrisy, there's flaming hypocrisy, and then there's John Kerry.

After expressing his condolences to the flood victims, Kerry said in a speech in New Delhi on Sunday night that the U.S. had donated $150,000 to the flood relief effort — “not the highest sum in the world,” he admitted, but “a beginning.” He went on to warn India not to dismiss the deadly intensity of the floods as a one-off tragedy. “Perhaps Mother Nature in her own way is telling us to heed some warnings,” Kerry said before a packed auditorium. “Today the science of climate change is screaming at us for action.”

I'll treat global warming climate change like a planetary emergency, when the mega-wealthy green profiteers like Al Gore and John Kerry treat it like a planetary emergency.

You know, when they sell their immense yachts and and multiple mansions.

Oh, and here's an idea. How about they use Skype rather than jet-setting around the world?

And pay their taxes to boot?

As Egypt Implodes, Obama and Kerry Party, Golf, Kayak and Hit the Yachting Circuit. And Then Lie About It.

Lazy, incompetent liars. I refer, of course, to the Obama administration and the Secretary of State. With all due respect.

Lazy and incompetent, because while Egypt imploded this week, President Obama found time to catch his 130th round of golf (130!) and John Kerry was MIA.

As for lying, John Campbell elaborates:

On Wednesday, as Egypt remained in political upheaval, the Obama Administration wanted everyone to know that they were committed to working… Or at least tweeting a photo illustrating as such.

The White House tweeted out a photo of top Obama Administration advisers working diligently around a table, but conspicuously absent from the photo-op was Secretary of State John Kerry. As media outlets questioned why the Secretary of State was not present, CBS’ Moshesh Oinounou seemed to have the answer: Kerry was on his yacht.

Oinounou tweeted out a picture of Kerry’s yacht, the Isabel, and claimed that the Secretary of State was on it on Wednesday afternoon. The Obama Administration vehemently denied the claim.

“Since his plane touched down in Washington at 4 a.m., Secretary Kerry was working all day and on the phone dealing with the crisis in Egypt,” spokeswoman Jen Psaki said. “He participated in the White House meeting with the president by secure phone and was and is in non-stop contact with foreign leaders, and his senior team in Washington and Cairo. Any report or tweet that he was on a boat is completely inaccurate.”

After the denials were met with understandable skepticism by media outlets, the Obama Administration reversed course and Psaki stated,

“While he was briefly on his boat on Wednesday, Secretary Kerry worked around the clock all day including participating in the president’s meeting with his national security council.”

This is the underlying problem: Why lie about it? Americans already know that John Kerry is a (to borrow the left’s ridiculous parlance) “one-percenter” who would much rather be soaking up the sun on his yacht than doing his job; the revelation is just one more eye-roll-inducing piece of information.

No, the real problem here is that the Obama Administration relies on deceit at every turn. The president and his masters of spin are pathologically incapable of telling the American public the truth.

Worse yet, they are only willing to admit that for which they have been caught red-handed.

If it takes investigative journalism to get the this administration to admit the whereabouts of the Secretary of State, it illustrates why the Obama Administration is so hell-bent on waging a war against journalism and it further begs the question, “What else are they doing that they’re not being caught for?”

Please note that this administration was willing to instantly and blatantly lie about John Kerry's whereabouts during a coup in Egypt.

What does that say about their other hidden activities, from gun-running to Mexican drug cartels (Operation Fast and Furious), the president's missing 8 hours during the Benghazi attacks, and the IRS scandals? What other lies have they foisted upon the American people in a craven attempt to retain their white-knuckled death grip on power?

When the Arab successor of Nazi Germany is Overthrown, There is Cause for Celebration

Guest post by David Bedein

There is no reason for a long winded article with a Jerusalem by line over the ouster of the Moslem Brotherhood, the ideological ally and successor of Nazi Germany.

Haj Amin El Husseini, Hitler's ally and the Mufti of Jerusalem, played a decisive role in pioneering the Moslem brotherhood, whose focus rests on an obsession with Israel's destruction.

To witness the overthrow of the Moslem Brotherhood regime in Cairo is a blessed day for the people of Israel.

The Israeli government does not need to say anything or do anything except to breathe a collective sigh of relief.

There are those who bemoan the fact that Egyptian president Morsi was brought to power in a democratic process.

Give me a break. So was Hitler. And so was Hamas for that matter.

How the Tea Party Can Save America and the World – a Plea From New Zealand

Guest post by Trevor Loudon

Many Tea Partiers and American patriots understand that the fate of the United States of America hangs in the balance.

No melodrama here. If the US loses its position as the world’s number one military super power, another country, or countries, will take its place.

Realistically, that can only be Russia or China, or more likely, an alliance of Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Vietnam and whoever ever else climbs aboard.

As the U.S. Dollar slowly sinks and America’s prestige and power goes with it, the “Evil Axis” grows bolder.

But why should I care? I’m safe aren’t I? Way down at the bottom of the South Pacific, in New Zealand.
Well, maybe not so safe. China is steadily advancing through the Pacific. It now has several footholds in our region, particularly in Fiji, which is my country’s nearest major island neighbor. To any thinking Aussie or Kiwi, this is cause for major concern.

in June of 2012, Song Xiaojun, a “retired” Chinese general, told Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald, that “Australia has to find a godfather sooner or later…” “Australia always has to depend on somebody else, whether it is to be the ‘son’ of the U.S. or ‘son’ of China,” Song said, adding that Australia had best choose China because it all “depends on who is more powerful and based on the strategic environment.”

If America goes under folks, the West goes under. No ifs, no buts. Only a strong America can keep the bad guys in check. Just as soldiers from all over the world fought in Europe and the Pacific to save liberty in WW2, today’s freedom lovers need to join the fight to save the US. Once liberty was fought for in the Coral Sea, Guadalcanal, Normandy and Sicily. Now if liberty is to be saved, we must win the electoral battles of Florida, Ohio, Virginia and Colorado.

From my home in Christchurch, I recently spent an hour on the phone with a savvy Florida activist. She outlined for me the crushing problems being faced by American patriots, in the face of a relentless leftist onslaught from the Obama Administration. According to my usually optimistic friend, much of the Tea Party is in disarray, the GOP leadership is even more arrogant and out of touch than usual and if the Dems pass “immigration reform” the Republic will be swamped with millions of new loyal Democrats, effectively turning the US into a permanent “one party state.”

And to cap that, now I’m hearing whispers of a third party.

Let’s get real. There is only one vehicle that can take back America from the Democrats and their union and far left allies, in the very limited time we have left. That is the Republican Party. If the Democrats hold the Senate and take back the House in 2014, or even 2016, which they could well do, America is done for.

OBAMA BEGS EGYPTIAN MILITARY: Please Don't Arrest Members of Muslim Brotherhood or Al Qaeda in North Africa!

Unfortunately, that headline is deadly serious. Please consider Obama's just-released statement concerning the deposed Islamist Morsi:

The United States is monitoring the very fluid situation in Egypt, and we believe that ultimately the future of Egypt can only be determined by the Egyptian people. Nevertheless, we are deeply concerned by the decision of the Egyptian Armed Forces to remove President Morsy and suspend the Egyptian constitution. I now call on the Egyptian military to move quickly and responsibly to return full authority back to a democratically elected civilian government as soon as possible through an inclusive and transparent process, and to avoid any arbitrary arrests of President Morsy and his supporters...

...During this uncertain period, we expect the military to ensure that the rights of all Egyptian men and women are protected, including the right to peaceful assembly, due process, and free and fair trials in civilian courts. Moreover, the goal of any political process should be a government that respects the rights of all people, majority and minority; that institutionalizes the checks and balances upon which democracy depends...

Checks and balances? You mean like "If Congress won't act, I will"? Or declaring the Senate in recess to make unlawful recess appointments? Or ramming Obamacare down the throats of the American people in 2010 against overwhelming opposition?

Considering the actions of President Lead-from-behind over the last four-plus years, I suspect Egyptians won't be losing much sleep over the Obamaltimatum. It would seem that Mr. Obama has his cross-hairs fixed on Americans, not Egyptians.

Saudi worker receives 100 lashes after getting pregnant: Wendy Davis unavailable for comment.

Tolerance. It's what's for dinner in Saudi Arabia:

An overseas Filipina worker (OFW) received 100 lashes in Saudi Arabia because she had a child with a man who was not her husband.

In an interview aired on 24 Oras on Monday, the 29-year old woman said she was lashed 100 times on the back after being convicted of immorality under the Sharia or Islamic law... [under which] women who get pregnant out of wedlock face imprisonment or a penalty of lashes to be determined by courts

...The Filipina worker said she had to go through the pregnancy alone as she was immediately abandoned by the man who got her pregnant when he discovered she was with child.

It was only after she gave birth that authorities discovered she was unmarried.

Nanganak po ako sa ospital na pinagtatrabahuhan ko, Nalaman po nila na wala akong asawa. Pagkatapos noon, ni-report nila ako sa pulis,” she said.

The Filipina worker said she was sentenced to one-year imprisonment but received lashes instead as a result of being pardoned.

In 2010, another Filipina worker was sentenced to receive 100 lashes after becoming pregnant as a result of rape.

Texas state legislator Wendy Davis could not be reached for comment at press time. Although since the events in question did not relate to fourth-trimester abortions, I guess I'm not surprised.

Egypt's Military Backs a Popular Uprising [Stratfor Research]

Guest post by Stratfor Research

The Arab Spring was an exercise in irony, nowhere more so than in Egypt. On the surface, it appeared to be the Arab equivalent of 1989 in Eastern Europe. There, the Soviet occupation suppressed a broad, if not universal desire for constitutional democracy modeled on Western Europe. The year 1989 shaped a generation's thinking in the West, and when they saw the crowds in the Arab streets, they assumed that they were seeing Eastern Europe once again.

There were certainly constitutional democrats in the Arab streets in 2011, but they were not the main thrust. Looking back on the Arab Spring, it is striking how few personalities were replaced, how few regimes fell, and how much chaos was left in its wake. The uprising in Libya resulted in a Western military intervention that deposed former leader Moammar Gadhafi and replaced him with massive uncertainty. The uprising in Syria has not replaced Syrian President Bashar al Assad but instead sparked a war between him and an Islamist-dominated opposition. Elsewhere, revolts have been contained with relative ease. The irony of the Arab Spring was that in opening the door for popular discontent, it demonstrated that while the discontent was real, it was neither decisive nor clearly inclined toward constitutional democracy.

This is what makes Egypt so interesting. The Egyptian uprising has always been the most ambiguous even while being cited as the most decisive. It is true that former President Hosni Mubarak fell in 2011. It is also true that elections were held in 2012, when a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood's election as president highlighted the reality that a democratic election is not guaranteed to produce a liberal democratic result. In any case, the now-deposed president, Mohammed Morsi, won by only a slim margin and he was severely constrained as to what he could do.

But the real issue in Egypt has always been something else. Though a general was forced out of office in 2011, it was not clear that the military regime did not remain, if not in power, then certainly the ultimate arbiter of power in Egyptian politics. Over the past year, so long as Morsi remained the elected president, the argument could be made that the military had lost its power. But just as we argued that the fall of Hosni Mubarak had been engineered by the military in order to force a succession that the aging Mubarak resisted, we can also argue that while the military had faded into the background, it remained the decisive force in Egypt.

Modern Egypt was founded in 1952 in a military coup by Col. Gamal Abdel Nasser. Nasser was committed to modernizing Egypt, and he saw the army as the only real instrument of modernization. He was a secularist committed to the idea that Arab nations ought to be united, but not Islamist by any means. He was a socialist, but not a communist. Above all else, he was an Egyptian army officer committed to the principle that the military guaranteed the stability of the Egyptian nation.

If you live in the United States, you are already far too late [finem respice]

Guest post by finem respice

If you live in the United States it may finally be dawning on you that you have something of a problem in the government to which you are now a Subject. In fact, the details of the [NSA Snooping|Verizon Metadata|IRS Political Targeting|Bankruptcy Preference|Fast and Furious|State Department Coverup|Libyan Ambassador|George Takei Facebook Ghostwriting] scandal are meaningless. You are already far too late. It will get worse before it gets better, it may never get better again, and, frankly, finem respice has not a shred of sympathy for your plight or that of your countrymen/women. In fact, given the manner you have quashed the opportunity- almost unique in the history of the species- created by an impossibly rare coexistence of liberty, private property, free markets, the rise of scientific method, and freedom of expression (to name just a few) there is more than a passing argument to be made that your society has squandered one of the greatest intellectual and individualistic fortunes in history.

Moreover, less charitable commentators may one day look upon what you have vainly and arrogantly loosed upon the world and wonder if the word "criminal" might not actually be excessive. To the extent humanity was headed towards something approaching a post-scarcity society finem respice would not wonder if you have collectively set that project back decades, or even centuries.

You see, for generations now you have collectively built and nurtured a massive, living, metabolizing creature. From the inanimate, intellectual detritus of "progressivism" and your unending and increasingly all-consuming narcissism you have kneaded it into a shapeless husk, pouring in rank mud like "Save the Planet," "Global Warming," "The American Dream of Home Ownership," "The War on Drugs", "Mothers Against Drunk Driving", "The War On Terror", "Speculators", "Too Big To Fail", "The 1%", and of course the essence and spark of its life, "…if it saves just one child." In conjunction with (but far more so than the other buckets of intellectual mud) "…if it saves just one child" has created the Golem of Government.

It was useful once, certainly, but it has since grown larger and more unwieldy as you slumbered. It is more potent than you now, and now it wields its own momentum with a self-directed animus of its own design, winding to and fro, unpredictable and twister-like, a destructive force that, despite what you thought, is not magically contained by the frontiers of the United States. Its power is extraterritorial and carves a wide swath across and through international law, international relations, international taxation, "force projection," and grips a stranglehold on the global financial system, which it greedily claims as its own and uses as hostage to bend the laws of other states to its will.

With almost Tolkienesque malice it seeks to see all, hear all, and know all- and owing to complacency that runs the gamut from your blithe acquiescence to your active participation, increasingly looks close to meeting its total information omniscience goal. Yet, the Golem is possessed of no craft, no subtlety, no art. Its sensory organs inform crude appendages that know how to do nothing but squeeze, smash, stomp, kidnap, and explode the targets of its interest without apology or feeling. Moreover, the Golem has no sense of proportion, happily imposing costs of $10 billion on the developed world to collect less than one tenth of that in revenue for itself, raining fire from the sky upon any collection of persons it feels might maybe contain a couple troublemakers. It thinks nothing of shutting down the 20th largest city within its borders (at a cost of many billions of dollars) to hunt down a single sleep-deprived, starving, wounded, and suicidal criminal. Likewise, it laughs to spend hundreds of thousands in time and expenses to ransack those of its Subjects' entities with operating budgets of $20,000, $15,000, or even less, or to ruin a mid-sized enterprise with a displeasing political orientation over vague foreign regulations on the exportation of wood.

The Life of Julia, Legalized Illegal Alien Edition

Courtesy of CIS, enjoy a story of your tax dollars and legislators at work... against you.

Hugh Hewitt Shreds John Hoeven: "If I were La Raza, I could make sure this fence never gets built"

I'm guessing that Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.) regrets agreeing to discuss the Corker-Hoeven Amendment -- the faux border security measure passed by the Senate -- with Hugh Hewitt. Hewitt, an expert attorney with a strong legislative and Constitutional background, quickly determined that the border security aspects of Corker-Hoeven are just as enforceable as, well, our current immigration laws.

And read to the end, because I've included Hewitt's interview with Ted Cruz in which he truly gets to the bottom -- and I do mean bottom -- of this abysmal cluster of a miserable bill.

HH: Now Senator... I just wanted to be up front about it. I do not like your amendment at all, because I think it guts the border fence.

JH: No, we actually require a total of 700 miles of border fence, and also 20,000 more border patrol agents, $4.5 billion technology plan on the border that includes sensors, radars, drones, helicopters, planes... in addition to a national, mandatory national E-verify and electronic entry/exit systems at airports and seaports.

HH: But Senator, I want to stay focused just on the fence, if you don’t mind, in our few minutes.

JH: Okay, all right. Yeah.

HH: At Section 5b, it says the Southern Border Fencing Strategy, not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this act, the secretary of Homeland Security shall establish a strategy to be known as the Southern Border Fencing Strategy, to identify where 700 miles of fencing, including double layer fencing, infrastructure and technology, including ports of entry, should be deployed along the southern border.

First question, of those 700 miles, how many miles must be double layered?

Passage of the Amnesty Bill Will Spell the End of Our Republic

Guest post by James Simpson

On Monday, June 24, 2013, the U.S. Senate passed a cloture motion (which ends debate) on the Schumer-Corker-Hoeven Amendment to the Gang of Eight's horrifying illegal alien amnesty bill - mislabeled "immigration reform."

The true purpose of this amnesty proposal is to capture future votes for the Democratic Party. Those who do not acknowledge that blatantly obvious fact either suffer from some debilitating mental illness or are working for the other side.

On rare occasions, even the Left admit the objective. Eliseo Medina, the honorary Chair of the Democratic Socialists of America, and International Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), said in 2008:

...If we reform the immigration laws, it puts 12 million people on the path to citizenship and eventually voters. Can you imagine if we have ...even two out of three, if we get 8 million new voters... we will create a governing coalition for the long term, not just for an election cycle.

The "governing coalition for the long term" refers of course to the "permanent progressive majority" Democrats have fantasized about for decades.

The number of illegals in this country is repeatedly cited as 11 million. This is almost certainly an underestimate. In reality the number is 20 to 30 million or more, according to a 2007 study in Social Contract. Bear Stearns estimated about 20 million in 2005. When amnesty passed in 1986, official estimates were 1.2 million illegals. There were actually 2.7 million - more than double. Within ten years, INS estimated the illegal population had grown to 10 million. It is delusional to believe the number has only increased by another 1 million in the 17 years since. Furthermore, when amnesty passes, the newly-legal aliens will invite their relatives to come, further inflating that number through chain migration.

Herein lies the real reason Democrats are slavering for this amnesty bill to pass and are tickling themselves pink that there are Republicans stupid and gullible, (or corrupt) enough to help them realize their dream. And make no mistake, an increase of 30 million in the Democrat Party voter base will guarantee Democrat majorities in the U.S. House, Senate and Presidency for the foreseeable future.

Despite the impossibly bizarre belief by some Republicans that amnesty will make illegals "like us," a high level Congressional source recently acknowledged to me that passage of this bill will spell the end of our Republic and that we literally have only weeks to stop it. Despite House Speaker John Boehner's somewhat ambiguous assurances, this bill is likely to get a vote in the House.

Eric Sevareid’s Law

Excerpted from Thoughts on Immigration into the United States, by Albert A. Bartlett:

When we’re searching for solutions to the problem of growing demand exceeding supply, we should never forget Eric Sevareid’s Law. Sevareid was a national journalist, and he observed that:

The chief source of problems is solutions.”

As an example: the actions of the Congress to encourage domestic production of ethanol from corn were offered as the solution to the problem of impending shortages of automotive fuel that are the result of population growth. Corn is being diverted from the food supply to the fuel supply. As a direct consequence, the price of corn has risen rapidly and this affects the prices of all manner of food items. The higher food costs are the new problem caused by the solution to the problem of the impending shortage of automotive fuel. In the U.S. and abroad, this higher cost of food is a hidden tax on all who eat.

Ronald Reagan, in one of the finest speeches of the last century, put it this way: "For three decades, we've sought to solve [these] problems... and the more the plans fail, the more the planners plan."

FACE THE NATION: Sen. Jeff Sessions Eviscerates the Rubio-Schumer-Corker Amnesty Bill

The Rubio-Schumer Amnesty bill -- and the so-called Corker Amendment -- represent a crime against the American citizenry and an affront to every legal immigrant. Appearing on Face the Nation this morning, Senator Jeff Sessions spoke truth to power.

This bill grants amnesty first and a mere promise of enforcement in the future, even with the Corker-Hoeven amendment, all of which has been put in now on a 1,200 page [bill] we’ll vote on Monday afternoon that no one has read… These promises of 20,000 agents won’t take place and are not required until 2021… It [even] has a specific provision that says the Sec. Napolitano does not have to build a fence if she chooses not to… And CBO concludes that the legal immigration will be dramatically increased… Why would any Member of Congress want to vote for a bill, at a time of high unemployment [and] falling wages, to bring in a huge surge of new labor that can only hurt the poorest among us the most?

On The Rush To Vote: This bill grants amnesty first and a mere promise of enforcement in the future, even with the Corker-Hoeven amendment, all of which has been put in now on a 1,200 page [bill] we’ll vote on Monday afternoon that no one has read… I think if people find out that this amendment does not accomplish what the sponsors believe it does, then I think the bill could be back in trouble again... Why would any Member of Congress want to vote for a bill, at a time of high unemployment [and] falling wages, to bring in a huge surge of new labor that can only hurt the poorest among us the most?

No Added Border Security: These promises of 20,000 agents won’t take place and are not required until 2021, no money is being appropriated for that, it's merely an authorization... It [even] has a specific provision that says the Sec. Napolitano does not have to build a fence if she chooses not to. And she has publicly said that she thinks we have enough fencing.

On CBO's Finding That Bill Will Depress Wages: The reason why this amendment was thrown in here at the last minute is because the promises were not fulfilled, and this amendment does not fulfill its promises either, frankly.... We are going to have amnesty first, no enforcement in the future, and we're going to have continued illegality—at least 75% according to the CBO report. And CBO concludes that the legal immigration will be dramatically increased…We're going to have lower wages and higher unemployment according to the CBO analysis of this bill.

This bill is a disaster. If it passes, it guarantees at least three things will happen to the U.S. over the coming decade:

• We will see the arrival of tens of millions of mostly low-skilled workers who will be dependent on the American taxpayer to survive.

• That influx of low-skilled labor will translate to Lower wages for American workers across the board.

• And that surge assures higher levels of unemployment for American workers.

There's a reason the Democrats and Pseudo-Republicans are trying to rush this bill through the Senate. They don't want you to know what's in it.

It's time to take action. Call your Senator and two other Senators now: Say No to Amnesty. And then call them again on Monday.

BETSY McCAUGHEY: The Rubio-Schumer Amnesty Bill Will Be "the End of the Two Party System in America"

Interviewed last night on the Mark Levin Show, former New York Lt. Governor and current legislative expert Betsy McCaughey offered several startling insights into the catastrophic Rubio-Schumer Amnesty bill.

1. The word comprehensive is a synonym for unread.

2. Sec. 2106 of the bill outsources the job of guiding aliens through the amnesty process from DHS to Democrat front groups. These partisan, activist groups -- like La Raza and the SEIU -- are certain to utilize the aliens for their own (likely illegal) voter registration and absentee ballot schemes to benefit the progressive agenda.

McCaughey says that this particular section of the bill will "be the end of the two party system in America."

Funding for these groups comes from the American taxpayer. Worse yet, these left wing activitists effectively become a fifth branch of government, performing many of the roles that the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) perform today.

3. Sec. 2531 of the bill sets up a "Citizenship Foundation" run by another bunch of community organizers. This foundation will develop "citizenship preparation" programs to teach American history and civics. Suffice it to say that these new educational materials will teach the progressive agenda and dependence on government; not the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, private property rights and the beauty of the free market system.

4. A TV ad starring Marco Rubio insists that aliens with provisional status will have to support themselves. That's a lie: Sec. 245C(b) of the bill waives the "public charge" requirement for the unemployed, students, those in job training, those caring for a child, and anyone over 60. Which means no one will be required to support themselves and virtually every alien will be permitted to begin drawing tens of thousands of dollars each year in federal benefits.

5. Finally, many of the bill's key provisions are described as "emergency legislation". This is Congress' method for avoiding its own "Pay As You Go" law (which requires that mandatory spending programs are offset by reductions in other programs or tax increases). Amnesty is anything but an "emergency".

I'll put it simply, in terms even Johnny Boehner, Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, and Mitch McConnell can understand: anyone who supports this madness is a traitor to the American citizenry.

As Karl Denninger puts it -- and McCaughey confirms -- this bill will destroy America.

Contact your Senator now and demand that they kill this bill. Before it kills us.

MOVIE POSTER: Gen. Bennet Sacolick Presents a New Kind of Special Operator Because "The Days of Rambo Are Over"

You really can't make this s*** up:

Special forces opening to women; ‘days of Rambo are over,’ general says

A top general says cultural, social and behavioral concerns may be bigger hurdles than physical fitness requirements for women looking to move into the military's special operations units... Maj. Gen. Bennet Sacolick, director of force management for U.S. Special Operations Command, says "the days of Rambo are over."

He says he has seen women working alongside special operations teams in Afghanistan who met difficult physical requirements. But he says the commandos usually deploy as small teams, often with a dozen or fewer troops, in austere conditions for long periods of time.
