You don't need a weatherman to know which way Barack Obama's faith blows

Five days before he announced his candidacy for president, Barack Obama wrote the following letter describing his relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright.*

I constantly remember Rev. Wright as the shepherd who guided me to my commitment to Christ one Sunday morning at Trinity. I often consider, as I work in the Senate how he lives his life - a life of service to Trinity, Chicago and the nation; his activism on behalf of causes that few would champion and his dogged commitment to the first principles of love for God and fellow man.

And in my personal walk, I seek daily to imitate his faith.”

His faith? Which aspect of Wright's faith does Obama seek to emulate?

His faith in Hamas? After all, Wright published a letter from the terror group's "political director" in the church newsletter. Hamas has killed over 500 Israeli and American civilians and pride themselves on killing children.

His faith in despicable statements about the U.S. government? "The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, G*d d**n America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people... G*d d**n America for treating our citizens as less than human. G*d d**n America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

His faith in the lie that the government invented the HIV virus to kill the man of color? "Wright has asserted that HIV and crack cocaine were government plots aimed at African-Americans."

His faith in despicable racist Louis Farrakhan? In 2007, Wright awarded the Church's Trumpeter award to Farrakhan, stating that "Farrakhan epitomizes greatness." Among Farrakhan's most famous quotes: "The Jews don't like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that's a good name. Hitler was a very great man..."; "They call them terrorists, I call them freedom fighters"; "The Jews helped Hitler get the Third Reich on the road"; "Many of the Jews who owned the homes, the apartments in the black community, we considered them bloodsuckers..."; "The Bush administration does not desire to see Islam practiced in its pristine purity...";

His faith in Muammar Gaddhafi, the man behind the Pan Am 103 explosion? Wright accompanied Farrakhan on a visit to Libya and its terror-supporting dictator Muammar Gaddhafi. Among Gaddhafi's crimes: organizing the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which shredded 270 people. Among them were 35 students from Syracuse University and many infants.

His faith in the evil represented by the U.S.? "We are deeply involved in the importing of drugs, the exporting of guns and the training of professional killers. ... We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God...

His faith that America deserved 9/11? "America’s chickens are coming home... to roost!”

His faith that America is a racist state? "What's going on in white America -- U.S. of K.K.K. of A! ...Men turning on black men... that is fighting the wrong enemy!"

His faith in the lie that the U.S. government was behind Pearl Harbor? "The government lied about Pearl Harbor! They knew the Japanese were going to attack!"

His faith in moral equivalence? "What we are doing is the same thing Al Qaeda is doing under a different color flag!"

His faith in gated communities? While decrying materialism and "middleclass-ness", he built a 10,340-square-foot house in a gated, and almost exclusively Caucasian community.

* * *

Obama notes that none of these statements "detract from my affection for Reverend Wright or appreciation for the good works he has done."

Obama also claims that this "...is what happens when you just cherry-pick statements from a guy who had a 40-year career as a pastor."

And he asserts he never heard or read any of these incendiary statements in person, even though "most of Dr. Wright's controversial quotes are from a sermon he has delivered many times, including once in Dallas."

When it comes to Wright's church, Obama certainly put his money where his mouth is.

He donated $22,500 to the church in 2006 alone.

Faith. It's all about faith.

Update: Wright is on his 'they took it out of context' tour, visiting friendly hard-core progressive Bill Moyers. Problem is, as Larwyn reminds us: Wright sold the DVDs through his church!

Thank your local Democrat for $4 gas!

Ticked off at $4-a-gallon gas?

Despite the catastrophic damage that high oil prices can wreak on our economy, Democrats oppose virtually every measure that would relieve the pain on average Americans.

The accompanying map depicts "The No Zone." This is the region surrounding the United States in which Democrats have blocked oil exploration.

Democrats oppose drilling in deepwater, even though Hurricanes Katrina and Rita proved that modern offshore drilling platforms pose little or no pollution risk. Democrats oppose exploration in a tiny, postage-stamp sized region of Alaska. As for new refineries or nuclear energy, well, the Democrats oppose those, too. The net impact of Democratic behavior is that America will become increasingly dependent on foreign oil.

While alternative energy sources remain an admirable goal, they are decades away from becoming serious alternatives to oil. For good or bad, America's economy and national security hinge on access to oil. Ben Stein comments:

...If we lost all oil and gas products tomorrow, ...the world would simply collapse. There would be an immense depression beyond anything we saw in the 1930s -- the economy would go back to a primitive state. There would simply not be a functioning society. It would be as if there had been nuclear war, minus the casualties from blast and radiation... In a word, we cannot as a modern society or even a modestly industrial society live without oil and gas. That is, [it is not] a luxury or a narcotic. [It is] a basic necessity of life, as basic as almost any commodity there is.

The Democrats like to pretend that oil is a needless luxury by preventing exploration in sensible locations. But, in the mean time, Cuba is permitting foreign countries to drain the Gulf of Mexico of its oil. Cuba granted China drilling rights in the Gulf. And, in fact, China will be drilling within 50 miles of Florida.

Thus, while countries such as China suck oil out of the Gulf, Democrats continue to stonewall against sensible energy policies.

Vote accordingly in 2008.

You say the Democratic Party is tearing itself apart?

Do tell...

Ehhh, pass the popcorn.

Too extreme for North Carolina

Gateway Pundit has today's essential YouTube.

I've embedded a subliminal message in this post, aimed at Democrats. See if you can spot it.

You ain't seen nothin' yet.

The scariest photo you will see all day

Writing in The Australian, Phil Chapman -- geophysicist and former NASA astronaut -- sounds the alarm claxons for climate change. Problem is that it relates to catastrophic cooling -- not global warming.

Is this the scariest climate photo ever?

The sun: sans sunspots. Not a good sign.
What's the big deal you might ask?

No sunspots. Sorry to ruin the fun, but an ice age cometh

THE scariest photo I have seen on the internet is www.spaceweather.com, where you will find a real-time image of the sun from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, located in deep space at the equilibrium point between solar and terrestrial gravity.

What is scary about the picture is that there is only one tiny sunspot.

Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.

All four agencies that track Earth's temperature (the Hadley Climate Research Unit in Britain, the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, the Christy group at the University of Alabama, and Remote Sensing Systems Inc in California) report that it cooled by about 0.7C in 2007. This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record and it puts us back where we were in 1930. If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over.

There is also plenty of anecdotal evidence that 2007 was exceptionally cold. It snowed in Baghdad for the first time in centuries, the winter in China was simply terrible and the extent of Antarctic sea ice in the austral winter was the greatest on record since James Cook discovered the place in 1770.

It is generally not possible to draw conclusions about climatic trends from events in a single year, so I would normally dismiss this cold snap as transient, pending what happens in the next few years.

This is where SOHO comes in. The sunspot number follows a cycle of somewhat variable length, averaging 11 years. The most recent minimum was in March last year. The new cycle, No.24, was supposed to start soon after that, with a gradual build-up in sunspot numbers.

It didn't happen. The first sunspot appeared in January this year and lasted only two days. A tiny spot appeared last Monday but vanished within 24 hours. Another little spot appeared this Monday. Pray that there will be many more, and soon.

The reason this matters is that there is a close correlation between variations in the sunspot cycle and Earth's climate. The previous time a cycle was delayed like this was in the Dalton Minimum, an especially cold period that lasted several decades from 1790.

Northern winters became ferocious: in particular, the rout of Napoleon's Grand Army during the retreat from Moscow in 1812 was at least partly due to the lack of sunspots.

That the rapid temperature decline in 2007 coincided with the failure of cycle No.24 to begin on schedule is not proof of a causal connection but it is cause for concern.

It is time to put aside the global warming dogma, at least to begin contingency planning about what to do if we are moving into another little ice age, similar to the one that lasted from 1100 to 1850.

There is no doubt that the next little ice age would be much worse than the previous one and much more harmful than anything warming may do. There are many more people now and we have become dependent on a few temperate agricultural areas, especially in the US and Canada. Global warming would increase agricultural output, but global cooling will decrease it.

Millions will starve if we do nothing to prepare for it (such as planning changes in agriculture to compensate), and millions more will die from cold-related diseases.

There is also another possibility, remote but much more serious. The Greenland and Antarctic ice cores and other evidence show that for the past several million years, severe glaciation has almost always afflicted our planet.

The bleak truth is that, under normal conditions, most of North America and Europe are buried under about 1.5km of ice. This bitterly frigid climate is interrupted occasionally by brief warm interglacials, typically lasting less than 10,000 years.

The interglacial we have enjoyed throughout recorded human history, called the Holocene, began 11,000 years ago, so the ice is overdue. We also know that glaciation can occur quickly: the required decline in global temperature is about 12C and it can happen in 20 years.

The next descent into an ice age is inevitable but may not happen for another 1000 years. On the other hand, it must be noted that the cooling in 2007 was even faster than in typical glacial transitions. If it continued for 20 years, the temperature would be 14C cooler in 2027.

By then, most of the advanced nations would have ceased to exist, vanishing under the ice, and the rest of the world would be faced with a catastrophe beyond imagining.

Australia may escape total annihilation but would surely be overrun by millions of refugees. Once the glaciation starts, it will last 1000 centuries, an incomprehensible stretch of time.

If the ice age is coming, there is a small chance that we could prevent or at least delay the transition, if we are prepared to take action soon enough and on a large enough scale...

It just goes to prove the old adage about Al Gore: beauty is only skin deep, but stupid goes down to the bone.

Terrorist fundraisers for Obama

The indispensible Charles Johnson points us to an almost unbelievable sight:

Another big Barack Obama supporter: Hatem El-Hady, former chairman of the Toledo-based Islamic charity Kindhearts, closed by the US government in 2006 for terrorist fundraising: Terrorist Fundraisers for Obama.

El-Hady has now devoted himself to raising money for Barack Obama; he has a page at the official Obama campaign web site, with three “friends” listed on it: “Rick,” “Fatima from Toledo, Ohio,” and ... Michelle Obama.

Note: when someone is listed as a “friend,” it means they specifically chose it. In other words, Michelle Obama’s name isn’t there because El-Hady put it there — it’s there because she chose to be listed as his friend.

I ask the following question with all due respect. Can the modern Democratic Party be any more off-base? If so, I fail to see how.

Hard to keep it all straight

See Dubya, writing at Michelle Malkin's site, has produced a handy guide to keep the Democrats and all of their terrorist endorsers straight.

He writes: "You know, I hear about all these obscure terrorist groups that support Obama, and I hear about Hillary doing favors for some others, and it just leaves me scratching my head. FALN? FARC? Weathermen? So, I made up a little guide..."

The AP bias factory manufactures another whopper

AP "reporter" Lee Keath describes Al Qaeda #2 Ayman al-Zawahiri's complaints about Iran.

Al Qaeda's No. 2 leader issued a new audiotape Tuesday accusing Shiite Iran of spreading a conspiracy theory about who carried out the Sept. 11 attacks to discredit the power of the Sunni terrorist network.

In other words, Iran has adopted the lexicon of the 9/11 Troofers, the gang of moonbat crackpots (this is the term they prefer, I believe) who claim that the U.S. government organized the attacks of September 11. Needless to say that these assertions violate every law of physics dealing with space and time; and anyone with a breadcrumb-sized brain or above would have rejected said claims.

Okay, let's move on. You'll love this part:

The increasing enmity toward Iran is a notable change of rhetoric from al-Zawahiri, who in the past rarely mentioned the country - apparently in hopes he would be able to forge some sort of understanding with Tehran based on their common rivalry with the United States. Iran has long sought to distance itself from al Qaeda.

Rivalry? Rivalry? The proper phrase would have been "bitter hatred of" or "warlike behavior towards". Let's whip out the dictionary definition of "rival":

* equal: be equal to in quality or ability; "Nothing can rival cotton for durability"...
* be the rival of, be in competition with; "we are rivaling for first place in the race"...

Both entities have pledged to destroy the United States and could hardly be called equal or in competition with.

Leave it to the AP to position Al Qaeda and Iran as friendly rivals of the U.S.

The worst of Obama's latest celebrity endorser

Yesterday Michael Moore endorsed Barack Obama and shredded Hillary Clinton.

"Over the past two months, the actions and words of Hillary Clinton have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting... Like you were nuts. Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity."

When it comes to disgusting statements fired in the furnace of stupidity, those excreted by Michael Moore surpass any I've heard...

“In Liverpool, [Moore] paused to contemplate the epicenters of evil in the modern world: “It’s all part of the same ball of wax, right? The oil companies, Israel, Halliburton.” (David Brooks in the New York Times, June 26. 2004)

In his book, “Dude Where’s My Country,” Moore proposed that the Patriot Act is as un-American as “Mein Kampf.” He wrote, “The Patriot Act is the first step. ‘Mein Kampf’…

In October of 2003, Moore was quoted in the University of Michigan’s student newspaper, The Michigan Daily, as saying “there is no terrorist threat in this country. This is a lie. This is the biggest lie we’ve been told.”

Moore dedicated his book, "Dude Where's My Country?" to Rachel Corrie, an International Solidarity Movement volunteer who was killed when she climbed in front of a Caterpillar bulldozer that was destroying tunnels used by Palestinian terrorists to illegally smuggle weapons from Egypt into Gaza.

On his book tour to promote, “Dude Where’s My Country,” Moore stopped off in Cambridge, England, where he lamented before a large audience that, ‘You’re stuck with being connected to this country of mine, which is known for bringing sadness and misery to places around the globe.”

“Now I’m not just talking about your everyday anti-Semites. No, I’m talking about a perceived notion that we Americans are supporting Israel in its oppression of the Palestinian people. Now where did those Arabs come up with an idea like that? Maybe it was when the Palestinian child looked up in the air and saw and American Apache helicopter firing a missile into his baby sister’s bedroom just before she was blown into a hundred bits.” -- Michael Moore

"Hey, here's a way to stop suicide bombings - give the Palestinians a bunch of missile-firing Apache helicopters and let them and the Israelis go at each other head to head. Four billion dollars a year to Israel - four billion dollars a year to the Palestinians - they can just blow each other up and leave the rest of us the hell alone." -- Michael Moore

While promoting his book, “Dude Where’s My Country,” in Germany, Moore gave a speech in which he asserted that, “Americans are possibly the dumbest people on the planet….in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pricks. We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don’t know about anything that’s happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing.” (The Washington Dispatch, June 26, 2004)

In 1990, speaking before the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, Moore announced that he would refuse to attend a screening of his movie, "Roger and Me," which was being held in Jerusalem. He was quoted as saying that he would not attend until Israel ceased to occupy the West Bank and Gaza. (Arab American News, 1990)

In 1987, Moore was honored by the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee for his “courageous efforts in journalism.” (ADC Times, January 1990, page 4)

Moore attended and spoke at a June 5, 1990 demonstration protesting the continued Israeli occupation at the Israeli Embassy in Washington D.C. (Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, July, 2001)

In October 2003, Moore was honored by the Muslim American Public Affairs Council (MPAC) with a media award. (www.mpac.org)

In his book, “Stupid White Men and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation,” Moore proposed that Congress give Israel 30 days to end the bloodshed taking place in its name, and if Israel does not do so, funding to Israel should be cut. He also noted that while individual terrorism is bad, state sponsored terrorism is truly evil. Moore also proposed that the Palestinians be given their statehood and receive twice as much economic assistance from the United States as Israel receives.

Recently Moore had no comment when questioned about the rumor that members of Hezbollah had been involved in the distribution of Fahrenheit 9/11. (http://www.moorewatch.com)

Moore tried to prevent Fahrenheit 9/11 from being shown in Israel. (New Yorker Magazine, February 16, 2004)

In an open letter to the German people in Die Zeit, Moore asked, "Should such an ignorant people [as the United States] lead the world? Don't go the American way when it comes to economics, jobs and services for the poor and immigrants. It is the wrong way." (David Brooks in the New York Times, June 30, 2004)

Will the mainstream media ask Barack Hussein McGovern whether he'll renounce Moore's endorsement?

I think we'll see George Michael named the Commissioner of Baseball before that happens.

Line o' the day: No contest

A Vanderleun find (via Larwyn):

We in Denmark cannot figure out why you are even bothering to hold an election.

On one side, you have a b***h who is a lawyer, married to a lawyer, and a lawyer who is married to a b***h who is a lawyer.

On the other side, you have a true war hero married to a woman with a huge chest who owns a beer distributorship.

Is there a contest here?

Hamas: an insignificant detail Carter failed to mention

On Monday, ex-president Jimmy Carter announced that he had set the stage for peace in the Middle East by securing a promise from Hamas to recognize Israel. He failed to mention, however, that the terrorists' offer had a term limit.

[Following a] visit [to] the Hamas leadership in Damascus, Carter enthusiastically stated that Hamas leader Khaled Mashal had told him the leading Palestinian faction was prepared to accept a Palestinian state in Gaza and the West Bank, and to recognize Israel's sovereignty on the rest of the territory west of the Jordan River... Carter went on to imply that the only remaining obstacle to peace was Israel's refusal to talk with Hamas.

What the former president left out, and what Mashal revealed when speaking to reporters in Damascus later that day was that Hamas, in return for full Israeli withdrawal to the 1967 borders, would only implicitly recognize the Jewish state and would only halt its armed struggle for the liberation of all "Palestine" for a period of 10 years.

As dedicated Muslims, Hamas adheres to the dictates of their prophet Mohammed, which state that Muslims may agree to truces with superior infidel forces, but only temporarily in order to give the Muslims time to gain enough strength to complete their conquest.

I'm sure Carter just forgot to mention it.

World temperatures keep falling while CO2 keeps rising

A group of scientists has formally petitioned the UN's International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to cease and desist on their message that CO2 emissions relate to warming temperatures.

And they issue this challenge: "If you believe there is evidence of the CO2 driver theory in the available data please present a graph of it."

The letter is signed by Hans Schreuder (Analytical Chemist), Piers Corbyn (Astrophysicist), and Dr Don Parkes Svend Hendriksen (1988 Nobel Laureate), and a copy is available at a website operated by the International Climate Science Association.

Evidence presented in the letter goes well beyond putting the “hockey stick” graph, made famous in Al Gore's movie, in doubt. The hockey stick presented exponentially increasing global temperature in the near future due to uncontrolled increases in CO2 – and got its name from the shape of the graph – an apparently long stable period with an upward increase in CO2 and temperature during the industrial age. The UN panel claimed that human activity was driving what Mr. Gore explained as a certain end to civilization as we know it, if extreme political and economic measures are not taken.

The scientists assembled a graph based on actual measurements and did not find evidence that CO2 was the main driving force behind temperature. In fact, temperature increases and decreases, showing little interest in CO2 level.

The scientists go on to renounce the unintended consequences of the UN's position: that the policy of burning food (to produce biofuel) has driven food prices sharply higher and is causing hunger and deforestation in countries around the world (especially the poorer countries).

Given the economic devastation that is already happening and which is now widely recognised will continue to flow from this policy, what possible justification can there be for its retention?

Easy answer: money. The carbon offset market, which environmentalists, researchers and scientists decry as utterly "fraudulent", represents more money than the UN and its related entities can walk away from. And, yes, that's a preposition I ended that last sentence with.

Larwyn's Link Kerplosion: Times delinks Iraq and oil prices

Larry Kudlow:

It’s rather amusing watching the liberal media in full-scale attack mode on George Stephanopolis and Charles Gibson, with the Washington Post’s Tom Shales as the general leading the charge. Oh my gosh! Their hero Obama has been wounded!

What’s the problem here? Messrs. Gibson and Stephanopolis actually challenged Obama with tough, well-informed questions on tax policy and politics? That’s what they’re supposed to do. . . .

Look, here’s the deal: Obama bungled the tax question, big time. Period. End of sentence. End of story. To my liberal friends out there all I can say is: Get over it. Your guy has a very poor grasp of basic economic principles.

First off, you don’t raise taxes during a recession. That’s a no-brainer. Second, doubling the capital-gains tax affects Americans up and down the income ladder, not just rich hedge-fund managers. In addition, capital-gains tax cuts are self-financing, and they stimulate jobs and the economy. You want to raise budget revenues? Cut the cap-gains tax rate. That’s what history shows. Finally, hiking the payroll tax also affects people up and down the income ladder.

New York Sun -- Carter's Conceit:

When Mr. Carter was given the heave ho, the Misery Index, an index combining rates of inflation and unemployment, was at an all time high of 21.98% — up from 13.5% when he was elected in 1976. After his last full year as president inflation was at 13.5% and unemployment at 7.2%.

Today the Misery Index is at 8.83%, though the Democrats have not a nice thing to say about Mr. Carter’s Republican successors.

Mark Steyn:

...I was struck by the words of Oscar van den Boogaard, a Dutch gay humanist (which is pretty much the trifecta of Eurocool). Reflecting on the Continent's accelerating Islamification, he concluded that the jig was up for the Europe he loved, but what could he do? "I am not a warrior, but who is?" he shrugged. "I have never learned to fight for my freedom. I was only good at enjoying it."

Sorry, it doesn't work like that. If you don't understand that there are times when you'll have to fight for it, you won't enjoy it for long. That's what a lot of Reade's laundry list – "gun-totin'," "military-lovin'" – boils down to. As for "gay-loathin'," it's Oscar van den Boogaard's famously tolerant Amsterdam where gay-bashing is resurgent: The editor of the American gay paper the Washington Blade got beaten up in the streets on his last visit to the Netherlands.

God and guns. Maybe one day a viable society will find a magic cure-all that can do without both, but Big Government isn't it.

Politico -- Obama linked to gun control efforts:

Barack Obama’s presidential campaign has worked to assure uneasy gun owners that he believes the Constitution protects their rights and that he doesn’t want to take away their guns.

But before he became a national political figure, he sat on the board of a Chicago-based foundation that doled out at least nine grants totaling nearly $2.7 million to groups that advocated the opposite positions.

The New York Times' Martin Neil Baily says Don’t Blame the War for the Economy:

I am no fan of the war in Iraq, but it simply has not been a major contributor to the financial crisis and the impending recession. The high price of oil is largely the result of strong demand, notably from China and India, pressing against a limited supply. The global oil supply is growing more slowly than it could because of politics and policies in many places — Russia, Mexico, Nigeria and Venezuela as well as the Middle East. Fears that the turmoil in Iraq might spread have probably given a boost to oil prices, but nowhere near enough to account for the huge price surge...

One sign that the war in Iraq is not the primary cause of the rise in oil prices is that metals and commodity prices across the board have risen sharply. Surging demand in Asia, coupled with supply that grows only slowly when prices increase, is the main story not only for oil, but for commodities broadly. The sinking value of the dollar has also played a role.

Robert Ferrigno:

William Jefferson Clinton watched the two cheerleaders give him a manicure, and realized he missed Rush Limbaugh. The man was always good for a laugh, particularly when he played Hillary’s cackle over and over, or Farrakhan going off about the mothership. The reenactment of the Fairness Doctrine had closed down Rush, and the rest of the talkers who wouldn’t dance to the new tune. You could spin the dial for an hour and never hear anything that got your blood pumping...

A name from the ancient past surfaces at an archaeological dig

Time moves pretty fast these days.

What ever happened to that guy?

The LA Times: always covering the big issues

Barack Obama scratched his face using a middle finger while mentioning Hillary.

And the L.A. Times reported the story as if it were hard news.

That whizzing sound you hear is the Chandler family spinning in their graves.

Funny how the mainstream media never bothered to cover a far more important middle-finger incident.

This is Gunnery Sergeant "Iron" Mike Burghardt flipping off insurgents after surviving an IED explosion -- literally between his legs -- in 2005.

The Times couldn't bother covering that story then, however.

Obama and Communism: Ayers, Dohrn and FARC

Executive Summary: Barack Obama's relationship with former Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers appears to go beyond their Woods Fund board membership. Even today, Ayers and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn, sound utterly unrepentant over their attempts to overthrow the U.S. government in order to install a pro-communist regime.

Perhaps coincidentally, Obama's name was recently discovered on a captured FARC computer. In the documents, FARC -- Colombia's brand of pro-communist terrorists -- implied that it had met with Obama's representatives to secure his support after the election. Interestingly, Dohrn has traveled to Colombia in the recent past in order to organize against Colombia's pro-U.S. government. Is it possible that Dohrn served as a cutout between Obama and FARC? That much is not yet clear, but the question deserves to be asked.

Barack Obama was a director of the Woods Fund board from 1999 to Dec. 11, 2002, according to the Fund's website. While sources such as the Chicago Sun-Times provide a laundry list of Obama's problematic relationships (Rezko, Farrakhan, Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Austan Goolsbee), none may prove more damaging than fellow Woods fund directors William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn.

While the Woods Fund backs highly questionable groups such as the Arab-American Action Network (AAAN) and the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) -- with attendant ties to MEChA and the New Black Panther Party -- it is Obama's relationship with Ayers that merits additional scrutiny.

Obama's longtime friendship with Ayers goes beyond their dual presence on the Woods Fund board.

In 1995, State Senator Alice Palmer introduced her chosen successor, Barack Obama, to a few of the district’s influential liberals at the home of two well known figures on the local left: William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn... [they are] unrepentant — figures from the violent fringe of the 1960s anti-war movement.

Neither Ayers nor the Obama campaign would describe the relationship between the two men. Dr. Young described Obama and Ayers as “friends...”

“...Ayers was a terrorist. Bernardine Dohrn was a terrorist. Ayers has never offered one word of apology — he glories in it, thinks it’s terrific. And that to me is not what I would call acceptable or mainstream behavior,” said Dan Polsby, a former law professor at Northwestern who is now dean of George Mason University Law School. “If Obama takes a different view on that — well, OK, that’s data about Obama.”

Steve Chapman of the Chicago Tribune adds:

Obama minimized his relationship by acknowledging only that he knows Ayers. But they have quite a bit more of a connection than that. He's appeared on panels with Ayers, served on a foundation board with him and held a 1995 campaign event at the home of Ayers and his wife, fellow former terrorist Bernardine Dohrn. Ayers even gave money to one of his campaigns... Yet [Obama] showed no qualms about consorting with Ayers and Dohrn.

But who is Ayers? And what did he really do?

Documents provided by the FBI, released under a freedom-of-information act request, provides some unique insights into the nature of the Weather Underground Organization (WUO), which was founded by Ayers. I've reproduced a few key snippets of information from the site as background.

This material documents the WUO's unchanging belief in armed struggle and the necessity of the international communist movement to guide their struggles to create revolution in the United States...

Whereas in 1969 the Weatherman extolled CASTRO... and CHE GUEVERA..., in 1976 their formulations relate more closely to the... Chinese revolution... [the statements of the group include:]

"The goal is the destruction of US imperialism and the achievement of a classless world: world communism."

...Today the main tasks of our movement are: 1) to build an anti-imperialist working class movement that can join with the oppressed peoples, overthrow imperialism and establish socialism; and 2) To build a communist part to lead the struggle."

One of the central figures of the WUO was its co-founder, William Charles Ayers, who helped organize the Flint, Michigan "War Council" held Dec. 27-31, 1969.

It was at [this War Council] that the decision was made to go underground and to engage in guerilla warfare against the U.S. government... all of the attendees...

...were highly sympathetic to [the Marxist-Leninist] ideology.

As part of their plan to overthrow the U.S. government, the Weather Underground created weapons caches and bomb factories. An accidental explosion in one factory killed several WUO members.

Inspection of the apartment yielded an amount of explosives and bomb making paraphernalia... fingerprints of [Weather Underground] members were found in this apartment [including] William Charles Ayers.

...BILL AYERS is a while male who was born on December 26, 1944, in Oak Park, Illinois. AYERS was one of the authors of the "Weatherman Statement" upon which the WUO was founded... [and is] one of the leaders of the organization since its founding... AYERS submerged into the underground in early 1970 and remains therein. [WUO speakers have stated:]

"People still thank that U.S. imperialism is inevitable. Not only is it not inevitable, but it is losing... What we are about is becoming a part of a struggle that is going to defeat imperialism... World communism is going to turn around the process that has existed for thousands of years. The reason Cuba is poor now is because of 300 years of Spanish imperialism and 100 years of American imperialism..."

"Liberation comes only with the gun."

"...the WUO is headed towards a red-white army which will attack the U.S. from inside while the Viet Cong attacks from outside."

Lest anyone think Ayers is any less radicalized today, despite his collegiate credentials, one need only peruse a recent blog entry from April 13, 2008.

We need to organize and mobilize against illegal wars of conquest and domination, send a sharp warning right now as the powerful mobilize to bomb Iran under the banner of the same exhausted lies and rationalizations, and press the demand for peace in concrete terms:

1. Withdraw all mercenary forces immediately.

2. Set a date-certain—within three months—for all U.S. troops to leave Iraq and Afghanistan.

3. Dismantle all U.S. military bases in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

4. Renounce all claims to the natural resources of Iraq.

5. Call for the creation of an independent international commission to assess and monitor the amount of reparations the U.S. owes to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan.

This is only a start, and it is still a choice—solidarity with all people, or endless war and death. As King reminded us, those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable...

I’m against [imperialism], and if Sean Hannity and others were honest, this is the ground they would fight me on. Capitalism played its role historically and is exhausted as a force for progress: built on exploitation, theft, conquest, war, and racism, capitalism and imperialism must be defeated and a world revolution—a revolution against war and racism and materialism, a revolution based on human solidarity and love, cooperation and the common good—must win.

His wife, Bernardine Dohrn, is no more repentent than he. According to Next Left News, Dohrn spoke at the 2005 National Conference on Organized Resistance. In 2007, Dorhn wrote a letter to the editor of The Nation stating her disappointment in the coverage of her speech to students.

[There is an urgent need] to reject the framework of US military and economic empire, to forge active opposition to white supremacy and grapple with the issue of multiracial organization, and to reckon with the importance of direct action to organizing and educating...

To this day, she appears to recommend a revolutionary overthrow of the U.S. government in favor of a socialist (Marxist-Leninist) state.

“We are living with a permanent war…and a…national security state. How do we go towards building a radical movement?" ...“Terrorism means any opposition to the US government.”

Turning to alternative models of development in the world, Dohrn spoke about Venezuela as a counterpoint to US cultural hegemony. In Venezuela she pointed out a “Democratic, Peaceful, Bolivarian, Revolutionary” government is feeding the people and providing healthcare, thanks to the presence of Cuban doctors... We must remember that “the Black freedom movement” is the cornerstone of our struggle...

“The US invented modern day terrorism".

...A committed radical and revolutionary at 63, Dohrn offered this insight: “The difference between reform and revolutionary struggles is linking the issues…” Addressing the entire audience she offered an apology: “I’m deeply sorry, we never thought we’d leave you this world.”

Put simply, Ayers and Dohrn -- Obama's friends and backers -- are Marxist-Leninists who decry capitalism and refuse to repent for their violent attempts to overthrow the U.S. government.

Interestingly, the twin themes of Obama and communist revolution echoed in a recent discovery of a terrorist computer in South America.

Thomas Lifson at the American Thinker notes an important snippet in Investor's Business Daily. Documents captured by the government of Columbia, which has battled a Marxist guerilla insurgency known as FARC, point to a relationship between the terrorist group and the Obama campaign.

...Admittedly, it pales compared with other material from the dead thug's computer - such as FARC efforts to obtain uranium or Hugo Chavez's $300 million support.

But the little Obama reference within the 15 FARC letters released by the Colombian government signals a disturbing pattern of contacts with rogue actors. It's not the first time, and Obama has yet to distance himself.

In a Feb. 28 letter, FARC chieftain Raul Reyes cheerily reported to his inner circle that he met "two gringos" who assured him "the new president of their country will be Obama and that they are interested in your compatriots. Obama will not support 'Plan Colombia' nor will he sign the TLC (Free Trade Agreement)."

Aside from some interesting possibilities about who these "gringos" are - a congressional delegation did visit Ecuador and an international leftist "congress" was held in Quito around this time - the real question is why anyone secretly consorting with FARC would be able to speak for presidential candidate Obama...

Interestingly, Dohrn has visited Colombia to rail against the pro-U.S. government! Is it possible that she served as a cutout to FARC for the Obama campaign?

At the request of ... human rights groups, Cassel conducted another major investigation in 1998. He was asked to organize an unofficial tribunal to investigate a Colombian Air Force bombing... With help from colleague Bernardine Dohrn, director of the law school’s Children and Family Justice Center, Cassel convened an unofficial “tribunal of opinion” in Chicago. The tribunal, chaired by former Illinois Supreme Court Justice Seymour Simon, unanimously found the Colombian government responsible for the bombing and recommended proper prosecutions. The government was invited to the tribunal and declined to participate, so Cassel and Dohrn went to Colombia to present their case to the people.

These important questions remain unanswered:

* Will Obama disclose his full relationship with Ayers and Dohrn?
* Will Obama disavow his relationship with Ayers and Dohrn as well as return any money that they have donated to him in the past?
* Were Obama's representatives speaking directly or indirectly with the communist terrorists known as FARC?
* Will Obama completely denounce Marxist-Leninist ideology, which was espoused by his father as well as friends like Ayers and Dohrn and groups such as FARC?

Update: Gateway Pundit summarizes Obama's omissions. Linked by: Fausta and Public Secrets. Thanks!
