Re-applying the Democratic energy plan...

Don Surber:

Blood shortage? We cannot donate our way out of this problem.

Accident victims will just have to cut back on their use of blood. They have to break their addiction to blood.

People starving in Africa? We cannot feed our way out of this problem. They’ll just have to cut back on their use of food. They’ll have to break their addiction to food.

Baby crying at 3 a.m.? We cannot nurse our way out of this problem. He’ll just have to cut back on his use of milk. He’ll have to break his addiction to milk.

Asthmatics short of breath? We cannot breathe our way out of this problem. They’ll just have to cut back on their use of air. They’ll have to break their addiction to air.

Oil isn't a luxury:

If we lost all oil and gas products tomorrow, however, the world would simply collapse. There would be an immense depression beyond anything we saw in the 1930s -- the economy would go back to a primitive state. There would simply not be a functioning society. It would be as if there had been nuclear war, minus the casualties from blast and radiation.

In a word, we cannot as a modern society or even a modestly industrial society live without oil and gas. That is, we do not supply a luxury or a narcotic. We supply a basic necessity of life, as basic as almost any commodity there is.

Until wind- and solar-cars are mass-produced by GoreCo, oil is among our basic fabrics enabling modern society to function.

Democrats resist this notion at their peril.

Report: Clintons block release of 9/11 movie

The Los Angeles Times reports that a new documentary depicts how the Clintons blocked the release of the ABC docudrama Path to 9/11.

...a new documentary called "Blocking the Path to 9/11," to be given a screening tonight, makes the case that former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton have pressured television and studio executives into quashing the DVD release of ABC's 2006 miniseries “The Path to 9/11." The privately financed documentary argues that the Clintons, who decried the original miniseries as a right-wing hatchet job, are out to salvage their political influence and legacy at the expense of free expression...

...Even before its network broadcast, "The Path to 9/11" sparked fierce opposition from Democratic leaders, who called on Disney, which owns ABC, to cancel the program. While those attempts eventually failed, ABC conceded to last-minute edits to the $40-million, five-hour miniseries, which aired over two nights.

The miniseries, written by Cyrus Nowrasteh, offered a fictionalized account of the government's bureaucratic missteps that led to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001. The series, which earned seven Emmy nominations and drew a combined audience of about 25 million viewers, was seen as being especially critical of the Clinton administration for bungling efforts to capture or kill Osama bin Laden.

Compare and contrast:

In the months leading up to the 2004 Presidential Election, a major motion picture was released. Fahrenheit 9/11, a movie written and directed by Michael Moore, pilloried the Bush administration for its "unjust" actions in pursuing the war on terror.

While portrayed as a documentary, critics pointed out that Moore's movie contained more than 50 major inaccuracies. Democrat Ed Koch called the film, "propaganda" and Slate's Jack Shafer said, "no court would be inclined to find in Moore's favor if a critic accused him of lying once or twice or 12 times in Fahrenheit 9/11."

Despite all of the criticism, Moore was feted at Cannes and other major film festivals.

Moore was also honored with a Presidential Box seat at the Democratic National Convention along with ex-President Jimmy Carter.

By election day 2004, Moore's film had grossed around $120 million.

On August 21, 2006, ABC released the synopsis of its mini-series, "The Path to 9/11." The docu-drama is a "dramatization is based on The 9/11 Commission Report and other published sources and personal interviews."

The film portrays the events leading up to 9/11 in a dramatized fashion. Scenes include "...a plan to capture bin Laden and bring him to the U.S. to face justice [that] is never approved for action... [later] the simultaneous bombings of two U.S. embassies... push the Administration to respond with an ineffective missile strike that some think merely elevates bin Laden's stature in the Muslim world."

In 2004, the Washington Times reported that the Clinton administration had four opportunities to kill or capture Bin Laden and failed to act each time.

According to the Times, Sandy Berger -- Clinton's national security adviser -- worried, "if the plans failed and al Qaeda launched a counterattack, 'we're blamed.'"

Berger later admitted to stealing and destroying Top Secret documents related to "the Administration['s] knowledge - and inaction - regarding al Qaeda presence in the U.S. in 1999 and 2000... stolen were crucial notes in the margins of these drafts which reveal the thinking and agendas of the Clinton Administration relating to the mounting terrorist threat."

Richard Miniter discloses the real reasons why Berger risked his career and reputation to steal the 9/11 documents.

My informed sources suggest that what Berger destroyed were copies of the Millennium After-Action Review, a binder-sized report prepared by Richard Clarke in 2000—a year and half before the 9-11 attacks. The review made a series of recommendations for a tougher stance against bin Laden and terrorism. There are 13 or more copies of this report. But only one contains hand-written notes by President Bill Clinton. Apparently, in the margin beside the recommendations, Bill Clinton wrote NO, NO, NO next to many of the tougher policy proposals.

You can see why Clinton might be happy to see these records vanish down the memory hole... So Berger was stuffing in pants and socks and later shredding the evidence that President Clinton did not want to take a tougher line on bin Laden, following the 1998 attack on two U.S. embassies that killed 224 people (including 12 American diplomats).

[Now Hillary] makes Berger one of her top three foreign policy advisers... and I have a few questions:

Did she bring him aboard to reward him for his criminal destruction of classified material? Or did she sign him up because of his stellar record in fighting bin Laden in the late 1990s?

Bill Clinton's legacy and Hillary Clinton's hopes for the presidency rested on Berger's ability to purge the National Archives of the incriminating material.

In truth, the Clintons were unwilling to take any risks that would result in the capture or assassination of Bin Laden, presumably because it could have damaged their poll numbers.

Unembarrassed about these actions, Berger and other former administration officials have complained bitterly about ABC's film. Berger himself called one scene, "a total fabrication."

Democratic members of Congress have also requested the ABC alter or remove the film from distribution. The EIB Network reports that Democrats sent a, "...letter threatening ABC's license for their owned and operated television stations..."

The Democrats should be ashamed of themselves. But they won't be; and that's precisely why the party is coming apart at the seams. And the convention will demonstrate that in stark, ominous terms.

John Edwards' Closing Statement

Hey, did you guys know the Olympics were on? Let's all go over to my house after this is over and we'll watch women's gymnastics -- er, I meant mens' bowling -- on my 100" plasma!

Yes, your honor. I'll get back to the question at hand.

Frances Quinn Hunter... this tiny, beautiful baby girl.

She speaks to you through me. And I have to tell you right now -- I didn't plan to talk about this -- right now I feel her.

I feel her presence. She's inside me, and she's talking to you.

She asks you to take this burden that she's carried for months off of John Edwards... and to put it where it belongs.

On her real daddy. Whoever that may be. Andrew Young. Or Fred Baron.

Would you believe... Dennis Kucinich?

This brief affair in the middle of 2006 could not possibly have resulted in my fathering Ms. Hunter's child. Because it was over as soon as it began.

Any pictures of Ms. Hunter and me at the end of 2006 were obvious, patently false photoshops.

Fakes.

Every one.

Really poor ones at that.

And I certainly had no idea that my friend and patron Fred Baron had relocated Ms. Hunter from North Carolina to California. And paid for Andrew Young to move too.

Or that he paid her $14 grand for her video footage after the campaign had already paid her $100,000 for the same videotapes.

How 'bout that Democratic Convention? Bill, Hillary, Obama and thousands of angry progressives?

That's really the big news story now, right?

Need proof that sex sells?

This chart illustrates the global search volume for the phrase John Edwards over the last 4-and-a-half years (via Google Insights).

The number of people searching for Edwards after the Rielle Hunter debacle broke dramatically outpaced all other searches including:

* Edwards named as VP candidate by John Kerry
* Edwards declaring himself a presidential candidate for '08
* Edwards introducing his smarmy "Two Americas" program while completing his 84,000 square-foot home.

Update: DBKP has an exclusive photo you've got to see. It makes a powerful case that John Edwards' confession was yet another pathetic fabrication.

Faith: guiding our votes

Heh:

The MSM justify banner coverage of the smallest malfeasance by any Christian or conservative, with or without independent verification, with the lame excuse of "hypocrisy." Hey, why didn't you say so! If all it takes to get the Edwards story into the establishment press is a little hypocrisy, boy, have I got a story for you!

Based on information currently saturating the Internet: (1) The entire schmaltzy Edwards campaign consisted of this self-professed moralist telling us how much he loved the poor and loved his cancer-stricken wife; (2) the following was Edwards' response to CBS News anchor Katie Couric's question about whether voters should care if a presidential candidate is faithful to his spouse:

"Of course. I mean, for a lot of Americans -- including the family that I grew up with, I mean, it's fundamental to how you judge people and human character -- whether you keep your word, whether you keep what is your ultimate word, which is that you love your spouse, and you'll stay with them. ... I think the most important qualities in a president in today's world are trustworthiness -- sincerity, honesty, strength of leadership. And -- and certainly that goes to a part of that."

There you have it, boys: Go to town, MSM!

Ghost town.

Actual photograph of moonbat in the wild

Stuck in traffic today, I was lodged behind an Infiniti QX56 sporting an Obama sticker.

The actual reported mileage of a QX56 is between 9 and 11 miles-per-gallon (city).

If Obama's elected, I wonder how much this rocket scientist is willing to pay for gas (since Obama hates American-made oil)? Though I'm sure the mileage is appreciably higher if the tires are properly inflated.

Note: Not the real license plate, though I hear that's the term they prefer.

Motor Authority has pics and video of the 2010 Camaro

Motor Authority:

...Due to start production February 16th, 2009, the car is being marketed as a high-tech and efficient high-performance car targeted at sports enthusiasts with a mind to fuel consumption and style... Standard U.S.-market models include LS, LT and SS models. Rumors of a super-high performance Z28 model are still circulating, but so is talk that the car has already been killed due to tough CAFE standards. An RS visual package (pictured on the car below) will be available on LT and SS trim models. The package includes 20in wheels, HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, and a unique rear spoiler and tail lights.

The car’s drivetrain is as expected, with either six-speed manual or automatic transmissions, with a 3.6L direct-injection V6 rated at 300hp (224kW) and 273lb-ft (370Nm) of torque. The 6.2L LS3 V8 is rated at 422hp (314kW) and 408lb-ft (553Nm) of torque in manual guise and the 6.2L L99 V8 is good for 400hp (299kW) and 395lb-ft (535Nm) of torque in automatic form. There is still no word on the turbocharged four-cylinder that’s been rumored as a possibility for the past several months. The V6 is reportedly offering an estimated 26mpg highway, with a 23mpg rating for the V8 on the open road. Fuel efficiency is enhanced in the automatic-equipped V8 models with Active Fuel Management.

The transmissions available include the Hydra-Matic 6L50 six-speed auto for LS and LT trims and the Hyrda-Matic 6L80 for the SS - both autos have manual ‘tap-shift’ capability. Should you choose to row the cogs yourself, an Aysin-Warner AY6 six-speed manual is fitted in the LS and LT trims, with a Tremec TR6060 six-speed in the SS...

I'd have to see it in person, but it looks promising.

Is that a tire gauge in Paul Waldman's pocket or is he just glad to see you?

Need proof that the progressive movement has declared Chapter 7 Intellectual Bankruptcy? The American Prospect's Paul Waldman just filed the papers.

The message couldn't be plainer: See that itty-bitty, little tire gauge? If you vote for Obama, that's how big your penis is. If you vote for McCain, on the other hand, your penis is as big as this rig, thrusting its gigantic shaft in and out of the ground! Real men think keeping your tires inflated is for weenies.

Tire gauge? Penis.

Drilling for oil? Penis.

Gas pump? Penis.

Nuclear energy? Penis.

ANWR? Penis.

Clean-burning coal? Penis.

At 72, John McCain is himself not exactly a simmering pot of heterosexual energy, causing women to swoon at the first whiff of his man-musk... [But a] Republican campaign that didn't allege that its Democrat opponent is a little light in the loafers just wouldn't be a Republican campaign.

Hillary Clinton? Penis.

Apparently, this is what passes for respectable commentary within the modern progressive movement.

If you happen to work out at the same gym as Mr. Waldman, keep your head on a swivel while you're in the shower.

How the National Enquirer and the blogosphere forced Edwards to confess

Using Google Insights, we can track the number of people searching for information on Rielle Hunter, the mistress of John Edwards.

The National Enquirer first revealed Hunter's name in December. A few blogs, including DBKP and this humble journal, picked up the story because there were a variety of variables that all pointed to the fact that Edwards was a sleazebag.

I mean, besides the fact that he was among the foulest of trial lawyers in recorded history ("[Edwards] stood before a jury and channeled the words of an unborn baby girl").

Despite the mainstream media blockade, the Enquirer continued to doggedly pursue the story. In July, it released additional details and the same set of blogs continued to build upon the story.

You can see from the graph how the pressure -- represented by the public searching for information on Ms. Hunter -- built during the month of July after Edwards was cornered by the Enquirer's staff in a Los Angeles hotel.

Put simply, a tabloid and the blogosphere -- both of which have been ridiculed for years by the MSM -- broke and publicized an immense story regarding a major presidential candidate and potential cabinet member.

I keep picturing the newspapers as lemmings, jumping one after another off a cliff labeled "Internet."

The Middle East Crisis explained

Haven't seen a better summary than this:

I can’t fathom why there’s even any semblance of moral equivalence given between these two groups:

Group 1: We want to kill ALL of group 2.
Group 2: We don’t want to be killed by group 1.

(Group 2 is then EEEEVIL.)

Al Qaeda's 'Mata Hari'

Okay, perhaps ABC is prone to hyperbole. But this does seem somewhat... er... problematic for the peaceniks among us ("Officials believe arrested neuroscientist Aafia Siddiqui is a danger to the U.S."):

When she was arrested in Afghanistan last month, Aafia Siddique allegedly had in her possession maps of New York, a list of potential targets that included the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, the subway system and the animal disease center on Plum Island, detailed chemical, biological and radiological weapon information that has been seen only in a handful of terrorist cases, as well as a thumb drive packed with emails, ABC News has learned.

..."She is the most significant capture in five years," said former CIA officer John Kiriakou, who said she lives up to her reputation as an alleged terrorist 'Mata Hari.'

...Only a "handful" of captured alleged Al Qaeda associates have had the kind of detailed information on weapons of mass destruction that Siddique, who attended MIT as an undergraduate and earned her PhD in neuroscience at Brandeis, had in her handbag, multiple current and former US intelligence and law enforcement officials told ABC News.

US authorities are analyzing Siddique's saliva, hair, and fingernail scrapings to determine, if possible, what evidence they can find of any exposure to chemical, biological or radiological materials with potential use in weapons of mass destruction, sources said.

"Her education troubled us. We know that she's extremely bright. She's radicalized. We knew that she had been planning, or at least involved in the planning, of a wide variety of different operations, whether they involved weapons of mass destruction or research into chemical or biological weapons, whether it was a possible attempt on the life of the President," said Kiriakou...

"We knew that she was involved with a great deal and we had to bring her into custody."

When nabbed... on July 17th, she also had in her possession a one gigabyte digital media storage device - a thumb drive - whose contents included a large trail of emails that authorities are now poring over, sources said...

Those e-mails, a source involved in the investigation said, are between "what she described as 'units' and what we would call 'cells'." [Messages indicated] the possibility of "an attack" on Plum Island Disease Center, a secure US government facility off the tip of Long Island, New York where research into foot and mouth disease, swine fever and other animal pathogens is conducted by the Department of Agriculture and security is provided by the Department of Homeland Security.

...She has also been twice married; once to a nephew of 9-11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed. Her name reportedly rolled from KSM's lips when he was captured and interrogated [Ed: through H2O-boarding? Shhhh... don't tell the protesters who routinely waterboard themselves.] by US intelligence officers. She has also been linked to Adnan El Shukrijumah, a pilot and suspected al Qaeda member...

By the time of Siddique's capture last month, she had become something of a cause celebre among some human rights activists who believe she was "disappeared" five years ago by the Pakistani government, perhaps at the request of the United States...

They saw Siddique slumped over in a wheelchair, the result of having been shot twice with a nine millimeter side arm after she allegedly grabbed [an] M-4 Carbine and opened fire [on US officials].

I'd wager she's another militant Quaker bent on quihad!
