Yep, Obamacare a trojan horse for single-payer: Verum SerumIn the running for media a**hole of the day is Andrew Malcolm of the Los Angeles Times who wrote in Top of the Ticket | Los Angeles Times:
"A majority of young people still approve of Obama's job performance, but a majority of seniors over 64 now don't (54%). Maybe they'll die before the next election."
As soon as readers called him on this crap, he evidently went back and, without noting it, changed it to read (parenthetically):
"In other numerical revelations, just 4% of Americans say that Wall Street or credit card companies are honest or trustworthy. A majority of young people still approve of Obama's job performance, but a majority of seniors over 64 now don't (54%). Maybe they'll (that is, we'll) all die before the next election."
One hopes that the only person to die from all this is Andrew Malcolm, via starvation after being expelled from the rotting corpse of the Los Angeles Times.

Uhm, California has done a lot of things we're not proud of around the budget. But in February, we closed a previous $25 billion budget deficit. We cut spending by $12 or $13 billion and we raised taxes by another $12 billion. So for this year, we did our part. And then, the economy just fell apart.
In February and June, after we'd cut spending and raised taxes, our revenues... just plummeted.
The piece that we're dealing with now, I would claim, is not our fault. It's the recession's fault!
...Of that $150 billion or so [of federal Stimulus money], the [GAO] said so far, I think, $30 billion has been released. [I'd want to] release the other $120 billion or so very quickly!
...Use the TARP repayment money... the banks and AIG have paid back around $100 billion, get that right back out to the states so that people don't lose their benefits, class size doesn't go up dramatically and public employees aren't laid off...
...I would accelerate [stimulus money] and add [more money]... the federal government has the only pot of dollars to stem this crisis. ...[We] must put more money into state and local government.

I may be off-kilter, but I kinda like what I see here.
Cars are restricted in size and must meet stringent emissions and fuel consumption regulations. 40% of all cars are required to be electric, and are frequently found by the side of the road because of battery issues. We're still getting used to electric cars and how long they take to charge.
Fuel prices are triple what they were just a few years ago, thanks to drilling prohibitions and massive, new taxes. Oil drilling is banned in the United States, and rigs sit idle atop the nation's vast treasure trove of oil and natural gas. This is the price we must pay in order to prevent global warming.
Because of high automobile and energy costs, mass transit is the only option available to many citizens. In cities, electric subway cars are packed full from early morning to late at night.
Government officials, however, are given the option of receiving free vehicles at taxpayer expense. All cars must be painted white, because other colors of paint can result in the release of excess greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide.
Tax policies encourage citizens to live in carefully planned housing complexes, high-rise condos and apartments, which consume less of the country's precious energy supplies.
"Smart-grid" technologies meter energy usage down to the individual family, pricing it by time-of-day and number of persons in the household. Power can be cut off to a household if government limits are exceeded. Families with elderly or special needs members, however, can petition the federal government for extra energy credits.
All lighting systems in residential housing units are required to use compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). These lamps, though they contain toxic levels of mercury, help reduce energy consumption and also prevent global warming.
Each housing unit must use a special, water-saving sink-toilet. These devices recapture the sink's waste water into the toilet tank (which is also reduced in size because of water shortages).
Because of environmental regulations and mandates at all levels of government, access to clean water is restricted. Before water is ever tapped for human consumption, detailed reviews -- often lasting decades -- are required to assess the impact on every animal species imaginable.
As for immigration policy, we have truly become an enlightened country. Open borders and streamlined paths to full citizenship now ensure a lasting Democrat majority.
It is true that open borders have resulted in various man-made disasters. For example, you'll recall that series of suicide bombings at Texas restaurants last year. But that is the price we must pay to be citizens of the world.
It's also true that jobs are scarce, but if you can find one you will have a great advantage. When you are hired, you will automatically become a member of a union, which will protect your rights, secure your retirement benefits, set your pay, prescribe your career advancement, and take care of negotiating all of the details with corporate bosses.
As for schools, all teachers are unionized, of course, which ensures that children are taught consistently, with government-approved materials. Home-schooling was outlawed in 2012 to give all children the opportunity to learn in these uniform environments.
It's true that union dues are a flat 5% of gross income, but that's a pittance compared to federal, state and local taxes, which total up to 60%.
Government workers and college professors only pay 40% in taxes in recognition of their sacrifices for the public good. Nearly half of all workers are employed by government at the federal, state or local levels.
Health care is free, if you can find a general practitioner. If referred to a specialist, your wait may be six months or longer. You can elect to fly abroad for treatment if you can't wait, but since health care is free in the U.S. (and private doctors are banned), most elect to wait.
Retirees have a very high quality of life. However, due to rules prescribed by the Federal Health Board, if you are over 72 years of age, you may not receive treatment for Cancer, Heart Disease and other maladies because those services are reserved for younger, healthier patients.
It's true that we seem poorer, less employed, less happy, less healthy, less educated, and -- I'll say it -- less free.
But that's what we voted for when we voted for change.
'No one would vote for Obamacare if they read the bill': MorrisseyDaughter #1, after reading the comments on my recent post at Hot Air ("Statist health care, by the numbers"):
my personal favorite comment:
"This post is RACIST!!! How dare you question The Won, from whom all blessings flow? We will all be dead within the next six months if we don’t allow Obama, Pelosi and Reid to give us free health care, free energy, free housing, free education and, most importantly, free unicorns. Because if we don’t, all the unicorns will die from lack of love.
Please, think of the unicorns, you selfish bastards."
The committee calls Thomas Edison to testify. Please swear him in.
Mr. Edison, describe for the committee the nature of your "light bulb" invention.
Distinguished representatives and guests, while the idea of electric lighting is not a new one, neither had it been a practical matter until we produced our new incandescent light bulb.
It uses a lower current of electricity and is both safe and economical.
So this electric light bulb that your firm invented: do you agree that demand for affordable lighting will skyrocket and that more and more electricity will need to be produced? Have you considered the impact on carbon emissions into the atmosphere -- the inevitable result of lighting all of these "bulbs"?
No, sir. We were simply trying to create a useful product for consumers, one that enhances safety and society as a whole.
Have you considered alternative lighting mechanisms that would consume less electricity? How many "green collar" scientists are working in your laboratories? Have you considered the impact of your invention on climate change?
No, sir -- I'll admit we were simply trying to create a functional light bulb.
And this phonograph you've invented, Mr. Edison, have you evaluated how its production could skyrocket due to high demand for musical recordings? Have you produced an assessment for the EPA and state regulators as to its impact on the environment? Production of tin, vinyl and other substances could explode!
Ah, never mind.
The committee calls Henry Ford.
Here.
Please explain this "invention" of yours: this "mass-produced" automobile.
Ladies and gentlemen, one day it struck me. We could produce cheaper goods, without compromising quality, by standardizing designs and assembly processes. We created an "assembly line" that helps us mass-produce vehicles...
These "cars" of yours are reproducing like locusts! Virtually everyone is driving them! And where do you think you'll get the fuel, the gas for these --
Distinguished Representative, America's natural resources are plentiful and there is no shortage of oil. Furthermore, our new processes are a significant improvement because automobiles can be produced more efficiently and consistently.
Mr. Ford. Mr. Edison. The conclusions of this committee are clear. The U.S. government cannot tolerate out-of-control corporate entities run by super-wealthy individuals such as yourselves. We must confiscate your factories and laboratories until they can be unionized; vetted by federal, state and local regulators; and certified as "green".Two teenage girls took the concept of getting all dolled up for the school prom to an extreme - dressing as life-size Barbie dolls and being wheeled in still sealed in their boxes.Sammy Burns and Megan Barton, both 16, wanted to arrive in something more original than a stretch limo or black cab... It took a fortnight to make the 6ft-high boxes out of cardboard, wallpaper and pink paint - complete with barcodes, price tags and the logo of Barbie manufacturer Mattel.
Sammy Burns, in black, and best friend Megan Barton were wheeled into the prom by Sammy's uncle Glenn Lawrence and her brother Tom... Sammy's uncle Glenn Lawrence, 38, and her brother Tom Burns, 18, dressed as delivery boys to wheel the girls to the entrance of the hotel venue...
I wonder what gave it away?
Postscript: Charges were later dismissed when tests determined that the seized pills were not steroids. Lesnar's attorney asserted the pills were a type of vitamin.
Jews -- all 12 million -- are often accused of being at the root of the world's troubles. This is ridiculous on its face, a canard only a Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a Pat Buchanan or a Noam Chumpsky believe anymore. (Oh, did I mention Barack H. Obama?) But the idea of a universal troublemaker holds more than a grain of truth, even if Jews don't fit the description. For that, the honors belong to the Muslims.
