Red Invades Blue: Drop a Dime on Scott Brown

Send a statement to the detestable Harry Reid.

Drop a few bucks on Senate candidate Scott Brown in Massachusetts if for no other reason than to tick Harry off.

White House estimates jobs created and saved using $20 million website and triple-counting, but mostly triple-counting

The headline at Clusterstock says it all:

White House Inflates Stimulus Job Creation With Accounting Gimmicks

The Obama administration is changing the way it counts jobs created or saved by stimulus spending in a way that will make the programs look far more successful.

Under the old rules, only jobs that were actually newly created or not lost because of stimulus money were counted. Now the administration plans to count all jobs for projects funded by stimulus money—even if that job already existed and the person was never in danger of losing the job.

The changes were made in a little noticed memo sent to federal agencies by OMB director Peter Orszag, according to a new report from ProPublica...

...California, for instance, claimed that stimulus spending had saved 18,000 corrections department jobs—when only 5,000 were scheduled to be cut. Under the new system, all of those jobs could be counted as products of the stimulus.

Gee, Henry, you mean President Obama isn't honest and ethical?

That can' be right. My neighbor had a big yard sign that said "Hope" on one side. And "Change" on the other. My dogs peed all over it, but still.

I'm certain President Obama saved or created over six hundred trillion jobs, easy.

Palin to Fox News Leftist Blogosphere Roundup... heads exploding in 3... 2... 1...

Not only did Massachusetts Senate candidate Scott Brown raise three-quarters of a million dollars in about fourteen minutes, but progressives got another slap in the face from the electorate today.

No doubt due to popular demand and ratings projections, Governor Sarah Palin signed on with Fox News as an analyst. She debuts Tuesday at 8pm on The O'Reilly Factor.

Palin's shock and awe campaign left the liberal pundits shrieking in rage. Most were forced to lay down tarpaulins under their recliners due to sudden soilage. And many a tofu-and-pine nut salad went uneaten as intestinal distress became the order of the day.

• Steve Benen, Washington Monthly: "UNEMPLOYED HALF-TERM GOVERNOR HIRED BY FOX NEWS" (suggested headline: "MULTI-MILLIONAIRE AUTHOR ADDS NEW MEDIA CHANNEL TO HER REPERTOIRE AND, AS AN ASIDE, I'M A FRICKIN' JEALOUS A-HOLE).

• Crook and a Liar: "Palin, who quit her job as Governor of Alaska, fits right in to the right wing stable of wingnuts Roger Ailes has assembled. I wonder why it took so long."

• No More Mister Nice Douche: "Where is she living again? Can she continue to mine "jes' plain folks" from Alaska while living semi permanently in a suburban TV studio in the lower forty-eight?."

• John 'Just Beat It' Nichols: "Maybe it isn't fair to focus on her mean-spirited and ridiculously partisan statements... Maybe it isn't right to harp about her wildly irresponsible assessments of political foes – and even of former political allies... Maybe it isn't wise to note all of her missteps and misstatements as if they are evidence of a cavalier approach to politics and governing... Maybe, just maybe, Palin is doing the best she can."

• Pam's House Blend (Acid, no doubt): "With The News Of Sarah Palin's Hiring, The Derailing Of FoxNews Is Now Complete... All aboard The 'Sarah Palin Train Wreck To Nowhere'!" Shhh, no one tell Pam about the "Nielsens" -- don't be a buzzkill, she's still trippin', dude!

• Mudstuck Flats: "Since her talent for producing copious amounts of fiction that people swallow hook, line and sinker is now manifest, where else could she go? It’s a perfect fit."

• Markos von Kosenjammer: "We all know that Fox News is somewhere to the right of the teabagging hordes and even in non-political stories doesn't have half the journalistic integrity of The Onion. Sure, Fox does its level-best to support the reactionary right, but as the hiring of Sarah Palin demonstrates, Fox is first and foremost a business..." Why yes, Kos, it is. Glad you figured that bit out.

• The Immortal Paul Thornton of Opinion L.A. (no, I haven't heard of him either): "I'm not surprised about the former partial-term Alaska governor's jump to Fox News (it's part of God's plan, after all), nor is much of the blog commentariat. What will be interesting to watch is whether Palin finally receives any on-the-spot pushback should she choose to repeat any of the loony comments she's made on healthcare "death panels" and the authenticity of President Obama's birth certificate. I won't hold my breath."

You think the Fox ratings are good now?

I'm predicting that they'll improve. We the people are fed up with central planning "stimulus" packages, secret meetings to nationalize one-sixth of the economy, unconstitutional takeovers of private industry, and "rights" made up from whole cloth.

The framers never intended the Constitution to be twisted to empower an authoritarian, centralized government to run amok. In fact, they created the Constitution to serve precisely the opposite function.

And Sarah Palin knows that simple fact, which is more than you can say for President Barack Axelrod Obama and the rest of the socialist sycophants.

Government caller to Mark Levin show: Democrats planning 'Blue Card' amnesty program granting temporary legal status to illegals

A caller to the Mark Levin radio program on January 5, 2010 warned that buzz of a new amnesty program for illegal aliens is circulating through the federal government.

I could tell you on another point... in my employment, and I have to confess that I do work for the federal government.

...We have hard about something called 'The Blue Card', which is some attempt to take illegals and grant them a legalized status, for a path towards citizenship. This is something that has been rumbling around, kinda heard on the sly and off the cuff, no [official] weight behind it, but we heard it.

And it's basically to give them intended lawful until they can either pay their fine or whatever [path] is intended to make them legal. It's so they can claim a path toward citizenship.

And this is all an attempt to try to overwhelm 'us' -- the system -- by trying to push all [of] these agendas through at once so we don't know what fight is next... first it was cap-and-trade, then it was health care, and now this is coming through the backdoor.

Interestingly, the European Union adopted its own "Blue Card" system just last summer.

...the directive establishes more attractive conditions for third-country workers to take up highly qualified employment in the member states of the Union, by creating a fast-track procedure for issuing a special residence and work permit called the “EU Blue Card”.

The Blue Card will facilitate access to the labour market to their holders and will entitle them to a series of socio-economic rights and favourable conditions for family reunification and movement across the EU...

Under the rules set by the directive, EU Blue Card holders will enjoy equal treatment with nationals of the member state issuing the Blue Card, as regards... social security and pensions... access to goods and services, including procedures for obtaining housing, information and counselling services...

Whether or not the EU Blue Card has any relationship to, or influence of, the Obama Blue Card is left as an exercise for the reader.

Inside the ACORN vote fraud scam

Over the last several election cycles, employees of the community organizing group ACORN were found to have forged thousands of voter registrations in dozens of states. According to former ACORN officials, as many as half of all of the group's voter registrations were fraudulent. And the total number of bogus submissions by the group's employees during the last election cycle alone could be as high as 600,000.

ACORN's defenders have repeatedly downplayed the crimes by highlighting the differences between registration fraud and vote fraud itself. But the registrations are only one element of the scam.

Bogus Voter Registration + Fraudulent Absentee Ballot = Democrat Victory

During the run-up to the 2008 New Jersey gubernatorial election, John Fund noted that state officials had received a startling 180,000 requests for absentee ballots. A "new loosely written vote-by-mail law" reportedly discourages county clerks from closely validating the signatures on absentee ballots, which is the only method of verification.

ACORN's preferred method appears to combine a fraudulent voter registration with an equally bogus absentee ballot. For this reason, observers speculate, the last few election cycles have seen huge increases in the number of absentee ballots cast.

Big Government reports that this sort of fraud was endemic to the 2008 election cycle. In Troy, New York, "[d]ozens of forged and fraudulent absentee ballots from people registered to vote on the Working Families Party line were filed in the Sept. 15 primary elections... the fraudulent ballots were handled by or prepared on behalf of various elected officials and leaders and operatives for the Democratic and Working Families parties." In fact, some ballots may have been cast with stolen identities.

A quick review of headlines helps illustrate the trend:

WBOC, 2008: "Delaware Voters Complete Record Number of Absentee Ballots".

STLtoday, 2008: "Absentee ballots double in St. Louis, increase statewide".

Seattle Times, 2008: "After King County Elections sends a batch of absentee ballots today, the office will have mailed a record 742,000 absentee ballots."

NOLA, 2008: "Record number of absentee ballots cast in Maine."

Fairfax County, 2006: Virginia absentee ballots numbered 110,000 in '06, an increase of 65,000 compared to the last off-year election.

Washington Post, 2006: "A record 166,000 Maryland voters... requested absentee ballots."

Absentee ballots, in conjunction with fraudulent voter registrations, are the simplest method to steal elections. This appears to be ACORN's strategy of choice.

Coleman vs. Franken

By far the most insidious tactic used by ACORN and related groups is the "found ballot". Whenever election outcomes are razor thin, you can expect that ACORN's thousands of voter registrations -- along with absentee ballots -- will be "discovered" to add new votes to the Democrat candidate's total.

After initially leading failed radio host Al Franken by 725 votes, incumbent Senator Norm Coleman of Minnesota ended up losing the race after a series of bizarre recounts.

• The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported that "the state Canvassing Board approved the use of Election Day results for 133 Minneapolis ballots that can't be found and also recommended that counties sort and count absentee ballots that were mistakenly rejected." This decision gave Franken most of his winning margin.

• In Ramsey County, "the recount showed that there were 171 more ballots than recorded votes", yet the ballots were counted, and Franken picked up nearly 40 more votes.

Washington Governor's Race

In 2004 Dino Rossi, the Republican candidate, won the state of Washington's governorship by a narrow margin. But that victory proved short-lived. Election officials:

• discovered uncounted ballots weeks and months after the election;

• counted votes from people without valid registrations;

• and permitted "felons without voting rights, as well as a few dead people, to cast ballots".

After the recounts, Rossi lost by a mere 133 votes.

Undermining Democracy

Writing in The American Thinker last year, James Simpson called ACORN "the new tip of the Cloward-Piven spear". This assessment is accurate.

ACORN's strategies are more than criminal; they are tantamount to an attempt to overthrow the government. By poisoning vote results, they are ruining the wellspring of Democracy.

The fact that mainstream Democrats support this outrageous group and its illegal behavior is sickening, but not unexpected from a party controlled by radical leftists who seek the destruction of the American form of government.

The lesson is clear for Republicans in 2010: much tighter oversight of absentee ballots is necessary in order for Democracy to survive in this country.

Proof of Senility: Sen. Reid Takes Two Years to Recall Racist Remark

Dan from New York:

Attn: How Soon We Forget Dept.

AP, January 09, 2010

Reid Apologizes for Racist Remarks on Obama Two Years Ago

The top Democrat in the U.S. Senate apologized on Saturday for comments he made about Barack Obama's race during the 2008 presidential bid.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada described then-Sen. Barack Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect." Obama is the nation's first African-American president.

"I deeply regret using such a poor choice of words. I sincerely apologize for offending any and all Americans, especially African-Americans for my improper comments," Reid said in a statement released after the excerpts were reported on the Web site of The Atlantic.

"I was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of Barack Obama during the campaign and have worked as hard as I can to advance President Obama's legislative agenda."

###

And for what better reason, Harry, than because Barack Obama is "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect"?

Just an FYI: it's never newsworthy when Democrats promote racial division. Because that's been the status quo for over 150 years.

Escape from Sacramento

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a fiscal emergency yesterday, slashing the state budget by $8 billion and requesting $7 billion from the federal government.

Cali faces a deficit of $41.6 billion or about half of all projected revenues.

Now, facing a 50% shortfall, guess how much did the Jerkinator and his Democrat toadies cut spending?

Less than 4%.

I'm not real good at 'rithmetic and all, but I'm interested to see how that's gonna work out.

Probably something like this.

Welcome to Thunderdome, Arnie.

The Obama Recovery: more than 50% will pay no federal taxes in '09 -- a John Galt Tipping Point

This week's well-publicized unemployment rate might have remained at 10%, but a hidden problem lurks just beneath the surface.

• The number of people with a job fell by 589,000 last month.
• Even worse, the number of people outside of the labor force grew by an astonishing 843,000 in December alone (this number is used to calculate the unemployment rate).
• Since the stimulus package was passed in February, the number of people who have moved outside of the labor force has grown by 3.2 million. December's number represents more than a quarter of that number! In fact, the total number of employed persons has fallen by 4 million since the stimulus passed.

Even more startling:

• A record 6.1 million people -- representing 40% of the unemployed and 4% of the entire workforce -- have remained unemployed for over 27 weeks.

And the civilian labor force continues to shrink apace, hitting a five-year low of 64.6%:

• In December 153.059 million were in the labor force, 15.267 million were unemployed and 83.865 million were not in the labor force. This represents a 64.6% participation rate, which is a five-year low -- or 3.073 million jobs below the five-year average.
• "Had those 3 million still be in the labor force (and, of course, not employed), the number of unemployed workers would have been 18.340 million, which in turn would result in [a real] unemployment rate of 12%."

And total, non-seasonally adjusted unemployment claims just hit another record:

• Total [NSA] "insurance claims (consisting of Initial, Continuing and EUC claims) hit another record of 11,268,100".

Further, as you might expect of the Democrat braintrust of Obama, Pelosi and Reid -- and their plans to centrally plan one-sixth of the economy -- the news gets considerably worse:

• Taxes are going up for Americans with health insurance as the President "signaled to House Democratic leaders Wednesday that they'll have to drop their opposition to taxing high-end health insurance plans to pay for health coverage for millions of uninsured Americans." The taxes on so-called "Cadillac" plans will reduce the income of millions of union- and non-union workers alike.
• Married couples are also targeted under the health care bill. An unmarried couple would pay $2,000 or more in premiums the moment they were married. This represents yet another Democrat policy that undermines marriage, encourages single-parent families and strengthens the culture of dependency.
• The AP report that the "drain on federal and state finances could force Congress to consider raising the federal unemployment insurance tax".

With more and more taxes levied upon a smaller and smaller group of taxpayers, the odds that a good portion of the population will "go Galt" are skyrocketing:

• A "major reason that a depression hasn’t appeared and the public is not in open revolt" is that a record 20 million people received unemployment benefits in 2009.

• "Financial and economic history shows that the lower rungs on the chain experience hardship first [followed by] an inexorable march up the food chain... [h]owever, in this crisis, the welfare checks, food stamps and unemployment benefits are still rolling so there has not been as much impact, including political angst from this segment."

• In 2008, 46.7% of US citizens paid no federal income taxes.

• In 2009, more than 50% of US citizens are likely to pay no federal income taxes.

Disclosure: I am long in tar, feathers, pitchforks and torches.
