Subtle. Public Sector Union: Keep Us at Full Employment or the Subways Could Get Bombed.

Via Mish, New York's Metro workers -- the Transport Workers Union -- is running this ad in Metro Magazine.

Nuance.

As usual, the public sector unions are desperately scrabbling for any way to keep afloat -- in this case, trying to get federal stimulus dollars. Using Stimulus money represents a band-aid-sized fix for a double amputation.

There's no money left. And roughly 400,000 public workers must go.

Hezbollah-style Car Bomb Kills Four Near Texas Border

Via Drudge, it would appear that Hezbollah's influence continues to creep northward from Mexico City.

People in Juarez are recovering from a car bomb that killed four Thursday night...

The victims include two federal agents, an ambulance worker and a doctor who was in the area when the bomb went off.

Tonight, we have learned that it was a car bomb that was detonated with the same kind of sophistication that is used by terrorist groups like Hezbollah.

A number of people were injured during the attack. Today we know that seven federal police agents were severely injured. A news photographer from channel 5 in Juarez remains in critical condition.

Hezbollah has been operating in Mexico for a number of years, thanks to funding from Iran.

So... would it be worth the $5 billion and change it would cost to construct a secure double fence on the southern border?

WaPo Ombudsman Explains Non-Coverage of PantherGate: We Were Really Quite Busy, What With the Macaca Fallout and All

Washington Post Ombudsman Andrew Alexander took time away from his busy schedule to explain why the dying newspaper hadn't covered the New Black Panther voter intimidation case.

For months, readers have contacted the ombudsman wondering why The Post hasn't been covering the case. The calls increased recently after competitors such as the New York Times and the Associated Press wrote stories. Fox News and right-wing bloggers have been pumping the story. Liberal bloggers have countered, accusing them of trying to manufacture a scandal.

But The Post has been virtually silent.

...National Editor Kevin Merida, who termed the controversy "significant," said he wished The Post had written about it sooner. The delay was a result of limited staffing and a heavy volume of other news on the Justice Department beat, he said.

In related news, the Post did manage to print the word macacca 96 times within a one month period.

Try to imagine the Post ignoring a story about, say, John Ashcroft killing a case involving whites who intimidated blacks with weapons and racial epithets at a polling place.

The Post's agenda is crystal clear. Its purpose is not the pursuit of objective reporting. Its ideology trumps the truth -- and its purpose is to mislead.

Businesses must sell and make a profit to stay in business. The Post is so dedicated to its cause, however, that it will still be manufacturing lies when the last customer exits stage left.

The act of committing fiscal suicide -- wearing ideological blinders as real news stories occur, unreported, around them -- is proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.

Perhaps if the Post ventured into reporting the news accurately, its staffing might not be quite so limited.

Hey, SEIU Members--Here's a Little Secret You Won't Read in Your Local's Newsletter: 400,000 of You Will Be Fired By This Time Next Year

Attention, Mr. and Mrs. Union Member -- Andy Stern and the rest of the big bosses sold you out. Instead of banking cash reserves to help members make it through difficult financial times, the SEIU, AFSCME and other public sector unions blew through hundreds of millions of your dollars getting Democrats elected.

Now those very same Democrats have implemented economy-killing policies that are definitely going to cost you your jobs.

See, that's the thing about working in the public sector. You're dependent upon the success of the private sector -- you know, taxes -- for your daily bread. If the private sector can't make its tax payments, you don't get paid. Simple, eh?

Moody's Economy.com estimates that 400,000 public sector jobs will be axed over the course of the next year.

Moody’s Economy.com recently estimated that as many as 400,000 public employees could be laid off in the next year. That can only compound growing concerns for the health of the broader economy as the nation’s unemployment rate hovers stubbornly near 10%, and all signs suggest that economic recovery may be a lot further off than previously hoped.

...The current trend does not favor public employees. According to government figures, state, and local governments shed 10,000 jobs in June. That’s in addition to 85,000 public jobs eliminated since the beginning of the year, and an estimated 190,000 in the past 12 months.

Meanwhile, the nation’s 50 states are struggling under the weight of a combined $140 billion budget gap for fiscal 2011, according the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

...Stephen Acquario, executive director of the New York State Association of Counties, said the writing has been on the wall for some time warning elected officials that a financial reckoning was just around the corner... "...unfortunately the well has run dry,” he said. “Going forward we’re projecting the worst of all possible worlds, which is cutting services, layoffs and raising taxes.”

A silver lining -- if there is one -- comes in the form of state and local governments getting back to the basics.

One more benefit: the ugly fiscal reality serves as a sanity check for union members who voted Democrat.

Now they know for certain that they were sold down the river by the same bosses who once pledged to protect them. Just think: you got contribute to the hundreds of millions of dollars that were wasted electing the same numb-skulls whose policies got your fired.

Fascism, Defined

Wiktionary defines the word fascism as follows:

A political regime, usually totalitarian...

...ideologically based on centralized government...

...government control of business...

...repression of criticism or opposition...

...a leader cult...

...and exalting the state and/or religion above individual rights.

Too harsh? Too "right wing"? I just relayed the definition. Any conceptual linkages between the words and images are the responsibilities of the reader.

Health Care Bill Mandates Tracking of Your Gold and Silver Coin Purchases

Remember the manufactured outrage and criticism leveled at the Bush administration over its international terror wiretaps? Every leftist front group imaginable -- from the ACLU to MSNBC -- screeched of constitutional crises and White House imperialism.

Now, as the Obama administration inserts all sorts of bizarre and intrusive dictates into its various takeovers of the private sector, these very same leftists are silent. It's clear that "civil liberties" are of little concern so long as the federal government gets to intrude further and further into our lives.

They're watching you... buy gold

Economic Policy Journal relays word from the coin-collecting magazine Numismaster that:

...[s]tarting on January 1st in 2012, US federal law will require coin and bullion dealers to report to the Internal Revenue Service all gold and silver coin purchases and sales greater than $600.

No that is not an error, they tacked the gold coin tracking regulations into the health bill. They are just tacking stuff on wherever they can.

Venturing a guess as to the Democrats' rationale, two tactics come to mind:

• The tracking directly targets a major advertising force on conservative television programs, websites and radio shows (e.g., GoldLine) and puts the cross-hairs on conservatives who purchase bullion.

Like FDR, who confiscated gold from individuals, the Obama Democrats want to begin controlling the flow of real currency -- not just the fiat paper that Ben Bernanke has been printing like a madman.

What's Your Federal Obesity Index?

As for your body, by 2014 you will be legally required to have an "electronic health record". This lovely little dictate was craftily inserted into the $1 trillion "Stimulus" bill of 2009.

Your electronic record will include an "obesity rating", which will be "securely shared" with government agencies and health care providers.

I'll let you imagine the consequences: federal nutrition laws, government-sponsored nutrition initiatives, federally approved healthy food products, etc.

Welcome to Central Planning U.S.A.

Like East Germany in the sixties, the Obama Democrats are turning the country into a statist's dream of authoritarian government, central planning and -- ultimately -- slavery.

Thousands and thousands of pages of new laws -- replete with payoffs, bribery and benefits for special interests -- will be filled in with tens of thousands of pages of regulations.

New bureaucracies, agencies and offices will control more and more aspects of your life. How much you can eat. What kind of health care you can receive. How much money you can earn and save.

This is only the first phase -- accomplished in less than two years -- by a federal government so out-of-control that the founders of this country wouldn't recognize it. Consider what the next few years will hold unless we obliterate the Democrat Party in November.

And from the ACLU hippies and media drones? Crickets are chirping as the White House begins its surveillance of your money and your body.

Good Times: Louis Farrakhan Declares War on ‘Negroes’ at 1997 NAACP Conference

I'm looking around, but I don't see the NAACP complaining about this racist claptrap from Louis Farrakhan. In this delightful secretion, Farrakhook threatens blacks who side with America against the likes of Muammar Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein.

"Any Negro leader who is against these brothers for what they have done... I pray to the almighty God that from this night forward...

...there will be war on every 'so-called negro' that don't want to u-nite for the benefit of all of our people.

Good times... good times.

Fortunately, our current Democrat leadership would never, ever pull the race card. They'd never target blacks who believe in the free market and the American dream.

Would they?

Political Incorrectness Personified: Papa B Offers a Parable

You can't stop him. You can only hope to contain him.

That would be Papa B, our reigning King of Political Incorrectness.

It's a comin'

Three strangers strike up a conversation in the passenger lounge in the Bozeman, Montana airport, while waiting for their respective flights...

One is an American Indian passing through from Lame Deer, another is a Cowboy on his way to Billings for a livestock show and the third passenger is a fundamentalist Arab student, newly arrived at Montana State University from the Middle East.

Their discussion drifts to their diverse cultures. Soon, the two Westerners learn that the Arab is a devout, radical Muslim and the conversation falls into an uneasy lull.

The cowboy leans back in his chair, crosses his boots on a magazine table, tips his big sweat-stained hat forward over his face, and lights a cigarette. The wind outside is blowing tumbleweeds around, and the old windsock is flapping; but still no plane comes.

Finally, the American Indian clears his throat and softly he speaks, 'At one time here... my people were many... but sadly, now we are few.'

The Muslim student raises an eyebrow, smiles, and leans forward, 'Once my people were few,' he sneers, 'and now we are many. Why do you suppose that is?'

The cowboy removes his cigarette from his mouth and from the darkness beneath his Stetson says in a smooth drawl . . .

'I reckon that's 'cause we ain't played Cowboys and Muslims yet, but I do believe it's a-comin'.'
