O-pression

In the vein of the excellent Moonbattery series of Obama depression photos (like this one):

A HillBuzz contributor offers this exclusive photo of Michelle Antoinette.

In February, the aptly named Crooks and Liars all but predicted what would happen to 'a White House geared toward campaigning, not governing'.

Slurpees and Golf

President Obama hit the links yesterday for the 52nd time since taking office less than two years ago.

Before leaving for the course Obama took time to slam Republicans for their "obstructionism" -- despite Democrats holding super-majorities in both houses of Congress:

"To hear President Obama tell it, Slurpees are the beverage of choice of obstructionist Republicans.

In each of 20 political speeches over the last two months, Mr. Obama has included a riff in which he portrays GOP leaders as sipping Slurpees while hard-working Democrats struggle to pull the economy out of a ditch.

“We’re down there. It’s hot. We were sweating. Bugs everywhere. We’re down there pushing, pushing, pushing on the car. Every once in a while we’d look up and see the Republicans standing there. They’re just standing there fanning themselves — sipping on a Slurpee."

A spokesman for Slurpee refused to comment, fearing retribution from HHS head Kathleen Sebelius, who has a history of threatening those who speak out.

Axelrod: Many Republicans are Witches, Nazis, and Employers of Illegal Immigrant Housekeepers; Also Take Foreign Donations and Drink Blood

Citing a recent study by CNN's Christine Amanpour, White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod proclaimed that the Republican Party was dominated by witches and warlocks, Nazi reenactment aficionados, and those who employ illegal immigrants while taking donations from foreign sources.

Interviewed on This Week With Someone From Legacy Media, Axelrod accused the GOP leadership of encouraging extremism. "There is little doubt," he stated, "that secret cadres within the Republican establishment are Nazi witches and warlocks. Furthermore, I have received evidence -- which I cannot disclose at this time -- that many GOP gubernatorial candidates actually employed illegal immigrant housekeepers. And by many, I mean possibly one."

When questioned about the advisers fleeing the White House and polls which show a tidal wave of anti-Democrat sentiment, Axelrod attempted to deflect attention by projecting his voice into the corner of the studio and shouting: "Look, Nazis!"

The Many Moods of Patty Murray (D-WA)

In 2009, Patty Murray was voted the most liberal Senator in the country. Let's capture her many moods as she destroys the greatest health care system in the world, bankrupts your grandchildren, and destroys the U.S. energy sector.

Jubilant.

Bored.

Joyous.

Pensive.

Perturbed.

Delighted.

Confused.

Reflective.

Steaming mad, but hiding it.

Worried.

Harry Reid's puppet.

Stop Marxism in its tracks. Defeat the failed agenda of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Patty Murray.

Support Dino Rossi for U.S. Senate.

My New Harry Reid Campaign Commercial

When asked why he hasn't been campaigning recently, Harry Reid responded, "I've been running the country."

He certainly has. For four long years, Reid and Nancy Pelosi have ruled Congress with iron fists.

You like 14% unemployment? Then vote for Harry Reid.

You like the worst housing market in the country? Then vote for Harry Reid.

You like paying more and more for electricity? Then vote for Harry Reid.

You like worrying every day about your job and your pension? Then vote for Harry Reid.

You like food stamps and endless unemployment? Then vote for Harry Reid.

You like having your kids and grandkids born into massive debt? Then vote for Harry Reid.

Do you hate your state, your country and your kids? Then vote for Harry Reid.

But otherwise, vote Sharron Angle. Vote to nuke Harry Reid from office. It's the only way to be sure.

Beautiful: Obama's New National Security Adviser Had a Direct Hand in Destroying the Housing Market as a Fannie Mae Executive

The President's new National Security Adviser is man named Tom Donilon. And he is a startling choice for the role, seeing as how he spent six years as an executive at Fannie Mae, according to Josh Gerstein.

...Donilon left the firm as it was mired in an accounting scandal in 2005, three years before Fannie Mae’s spectacular collapse when the mortgage market imploded in 2008. Investigators never accused Donilon of wrongdoing in the accounting scandal, but Fannie ultimately paid $400 million to the federal government to settle charges that the company misstated its earnings between 1998 and 2004. The government sued three top Fannie Mae executives to recover millions in bonuses based on the allegedly falsified reports, but Donilon was not among them... A former official who led one of the main investigations into Fannie Mae said Friday that Donilon didn’t play a role in the misstatements but tried to pressure lawmakers to derail the probe.

“He was in charge of the lobbyists. ... That process involved using the Hill to rein in the regulators... And there’s no question that Congress played a major role in enabling Fannie Mae to escape regulation and avoid increasing their capital, which is what eventually killed the company.”

...A 2006 report on the federal “special examination of Fannie Mae” is replete with references to Donilon, who worked at the firm from 1999 to April 2005, first as senior vice president and general counsel and later as executive vice president for law and policy. The report quotes from a 2004 Donilon e-mail plotting efforts to resist federal regulators’ attempts to force changes in Fannie Mae’s executive structure.

...The Obama team’s tolerance for Fannie Mae veterans has always been murky. During the 2008 campaign, Obama picked former Fannie Mae CEO Jim Johnson to lead his vice presidential search but dumped Johnson after his ties to the worsening mortgage crisis made him radioactive [and] a longtime Democratic operative who served in the senior ranks at Fannie with Donilon, Thomas Nides, was nominated last week as deputy secretary of state for management...

Even the White House' favorite press release publisher -- you may know it as Associated Press -- is reporting upon the troubling background of Donilon.

Before President Barack Obama picked him to be his next national security adviser, Tom Donilon was a lobbyist for mortgage giant Fannie Mae and fought off congressional attempts to impose new regulations...

...A longtime Democratic operative, Donilon for six years beginning in 1999 was a registered lobbyist and top executive at Fannie Mae, leaving in 2005. His tenure coincided with efforts in Congress to rein in the mortgage giant with tougher regulations and greater oversight.

A Democrat political operative -- who is directly responsible for helping destroy the American housing market and touching off the current financial crisis -- is named the National Security Adviser?

What could possibly go wrong with that?

And the next time some liberal nut-stick blames Bush or the Republicans for the current financial disaster, simply point them at the Congressional testimony that sets the record straight. Democrats' failed social engineering policies -- just like "Great Society" and the "New Deal" and all of their other Ponzi schemes -- caused the collapse of the housing market. And that is the inconvenient truth.

Are you going to take care of business in November? And, by that, I mean vote the straight Republican ticket? I hope so. Because it may be our last chance to turn back the tide of insanity and corruption sweeping Washington.

Good One!

Update: 10 New Obama Depression Photos.

Image by: Diogenes Sarcastica. Linked by: Ace of Spades. Thanks!

Unlike Tricky Dick Nixon, Obama Wears His Enemies List On His Sleeve

A former community organizer, President Obama has aggressively and repeatedly attacked the ultimate community organization: the Tea Party movement.

But the Tea Party is not alone. The man who "acts more like a dictator than a President" has a far wider-ranging enemies list than meets the eye. The following parties are by no means meant to comprise an exhaustive listing, but are simply representative of a troubling mindset, which -- unfortunately -- appears to be shared by many in the Democrat Party. Taxpayers and the private sector are to be hated and vilified, while only government is infallible. That is how they justify the continual growth of government, of regulations, of bureaucracies, no matter how many times they fail in catastrophic ways.

Chamber of Commerce: "President Obama led Democrats in a coordinated attack against the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Thursday, painting the business lobby as a corporate interest standing against open elections and U.S. workers."

Seeing as how these are the same guys who support card check -- ending the secret ballot for union elections -- you get a sense for just how desperate the Democrats have become. Coincidentally this attack marked, almost to the day, the anniversary of Obama's first directed assault against the Chamber.

Americans for Prosperity: Obama has tarred the grass-roots AFP repeatedly in speeches, "Right now all around this country there are groups with harmless-sounding names like Americans for Prosperity, who are running millions of dollars of ads against Democratic candidates all across the country. And they don't have to say who exactly the Americans for Prosperity are. You don't know if it’s a foreign-controlled corporation. You don't know if it’s a big oil company, or a big bank. You don't know if it’s a insurance company that wants to see some of the provisions in health reform repealed because it’s good for their bottom line, even if it’s not good for the American people."

The AFP's response was a good one: "The farcical attack by President Obama against Americans for Prosperity and our 1.3 million citizen activists is the sign of a desperate administration that is losing the battle to patriotic Americans who oppose Mr. Obama's radical agenda, and who are committed to defending their liberty... The Obama cronies are seeking the names and addresses of Americans for Prosperity donors for one reason: Revenge. All Americans should be threatened by this carefully planned maneuver. They could come after you next."

Health Insurers: "...the Obama administration called on health plans to stop 'misinformation and scare tactics' about the healthcare reform law... The administration's letter to America's Health Insurance Plans comes after several health plans told customers that they were raising rates in part because of the new law. In it, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius warned: 'I want AHIP’s members to be put on notice: the Administration, in partnership with states, will not tolerate unjustified rate hikes in the name of consumer protections.'"

Companies that provide health insurance benefits to employees: "Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius says a report in the Wall Street Journal that McDonald's may drop its limited benefits health insurance plans for 30,000 workers is 'flat out wrong.' "

But this week it became clear that the story was completely accurate and it was Sebelius, in fact, who had been caught lying again: "As Obama administration officials put into place the first major wave of changes under the health care legislation, they have tried to defuse stiffening resistance from companies like McDonald's and some insurers by granting dozens of waivers to maintain even minimal coverage far below the new law's standards."

Oil Companies: "U.S. oil and natural gas producing companies should not receive federal subsidies in the form of tax breaks because their businesses contribute to global warming, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told Congress on Wednesday."

Drug Companies: "Obama has said he will hold drug and insurance companies 'accountable for the prices they charge and the harm they cause.' And he has promised to allow Medicare to negotiate with drugmakers for cheaper prices... With less revenue from Medicare, drugmakers may begin charging more for drugs sold outside the program. And lower profits mean less money for R&D - and a reduction in the amount of new drugs on the market in the future..."

Coal Companies: "Environmentalists are a very important voting bloc for the Democratic Party, and they earnestly believe that coal is evil, despite the fact that it generates half of the country’s electricity. That’s why President Obama promised, while campaigning for the Oval Office, to 'bankrupt' the coal industry. He has since unleashed the EPA to fulfill that promise..."

Doctors: "Obama offered this example of how doctors make decisions under the current system instead of doing what's in their patients' best interests: 'Right now, doctors a lot of times are forced to make decisions based on the fee payment schedule that's out there. So if they're looking and you come in and you've got a bad sore throat or your child has a bad sore throat or has repeated sore throats, the doctor may look at the reimbursement system and say to himself, {You know what? I make a lot more money if I take this kid's tonsils out.}' ...Does Obama really think pediatricians knowingly order unnecessary tonsillectomies... Isn't this a rather casual slander of a lot of doctors? And in any case, is this what's driving up health-care costs? It's probably as likely health-care costs are high because hospitals have too many vice presidents for government relations making $300,000 a year."

Fox News: "In a town hall meeting in St. Louis on April 29, Obama was asked about fiscal discipline and entitlement reform. In his response, he took a shot at the Fox News Channel and the tea party movement... "

Only one question remains -- what area of the private sector -- aside from the slip-and-fall attorneys -- isn't hated and vilified by the Obama Democrats?

What Are "Larwyn's Linx"?

I first met Larwyn in September 2006 after posting an illustrated rebuke of the Democrats' anti-First Amendment tendencies ("The Free Speech Crowd"), to which Instapundit's Glenn Reynolds was kind enough to link. Larwyn emailed me a complimentary note, copying a long list of some of the most prominent pundits and bloggers in the country. Plus Ace of Spades. Just kidding.

I soon found myself a member of the mailing list as Larwyn directed our attention to articles from a vast array of publications: snippets from policy journals, mainstream newspaper articles, and blog posts from all over the 'sphere, from the most famous folks imaginable to bloggers who got 200 visitors a day (like me). Larwyn's research was nothing if not prolific, and the compendium of links were invaluable for keeping tabs on events of the day.

In April of 2008, I began posting occasional summaries of Larwyn's collections. It was through these collections that I discovered the consistent genius of Michelle Malkin, Mark Levin, Thomas Lifson's American Thinker, Roger Simon's Pajamas Media, Jim Hoft's Gateway Pundit, Don Surber, Dan Riehl, Protein Wisdom, Jammie Wearing Fool, The Anchoress, Fausta Wertz, The Gates of Vienna, Vanderleun, Lorie Byrd, The People's Cube, and many, many others.

Larwyn has been less active of late, having been waylaid with some health issues that make it difficult to spend significant time at the computer, but the beat goes on through the mailing lists that still energize much of the conservative blogosphere.

And, unlike a few less generous blogs out there that discourage blog-pimping (PoliPundit, I'm looking at you), I welcome notes and links of interest. After all, how can the "Army of Davids" get messages out if not proactively communicating with one another?

How many Davids have benefited from the unceasing generosity of Glenn Reynolds or Michelle Malkin? How many bloggers have been inspired by them? I think it fair to say that they represent the Godparents of the conservative blogosphere. And that is, in part, why Larwyn's Linx exists.

But now I have a few questions for you, our seven regular readers:

1. Do you like Larwyn's Linx or does it suck?
2. Too many links? Too few?
3. What would make it better?
4. Should Biff Spackle be promoted, finally, from Junior Cub Reporter (Level I) to Assistant Cub Reporter?

Unvarnished feedback is always appreciated, the more candid the better.

One of the more terrifying economic outlooks of the year

Writing at the indefatigable Zero Hedge, "Doctor Housing Bubble" authors one of the more terrifying economic readouts in recent history.

Of The 11 Million Mortgage Holders Underwater Backed By $2.9 Trillion In Mortgage Debt.

...29 percent of all mortgage debt ($2.9 trillion) is underwater. This is incredible given that the number of underwater mortgages amounts to 22 percent of all mortgages which tells us that there are some big loans skewing the figure here. In fact, we can see this when the numbers are broken down further...

...The above chart should give you a good understanding of why some states will have much tougher housing markets moving forward. It is incredible that 50 percent of all underwater mortgages in Nevada are underwater by at least 25 percent. In California that number is closer to 25 percent...

...California underwater mortgages: 1,724,774... California underwater mortgages -25% equity or more: 344,954.

We can almost guarantee that those 344,000 mortgages will default in the next year or two. The 1.7 million mortgages are also in this risky pool...

In California just by statistics you can say that every one out of three people that tell you they are a homeowner is likely underwater.  And every one out of five of those people is underwater by at least 25 percent.  We look at certain examples even in more select cities and we realize that this is happening all over the place... And what if home prices fall as we expect in the next year?

The implications are ominous. As more homes foreclose, nearby properties suffer in value. Some cross the -25% negative equity threshold. And they foreclose... and on and on it goes.

And what happens when taxes increase -- across the board -- for Americans next year?

It's time to put the adults back in charge. November is coming.

What's all this about Joran Van Der Sloot helping out Jerry Brown's campaign with an illegal immigrant housekeeper setup?

This Dan Riehl fellow has really bollixed things up again, what with asserting that Joran Van Der Sloot -- Natalie Holloway's accused killer -- is somehow mixed up with Gloria Allred and the Jerry Brown campaign and illegal immigrants and what not.

Everyone knows that Van Der Sloot is in prison and in trouble again for hosting a pot party behind bars!

These pajama-clad bloggers are really out-of-control. They don't have the layers and layers of fact-checking and double-checks like the real media does. I'm stating for the record that these bloggers need to be regulated somehow.

Perhaps one of the dedicated, non-profit groups that fact-check the media, like Media Matters for instance, could be put in charge of controlling the bloggers.

Because this whole Van Der Sloot thing is the straw that broke the camel's behind. We need real journalists on the case, not these fakes like Robert Stacy McCain. We need men like Dan Rather and Katie Couric and Bob Saget, for heaven's sakes.

Exclusive First Look: The New Miniature Golf Course Custom-Built for the Obama Family on the White House Grounds!

This first look at the Obamas' new miniature golf course, constructed by union members at the low cost of $14 million, is a Doug Ross Exclusive™. Don't hate the playa, bloggers, hate the game.

Celebrate the passage of the Democrats' popular health care reform bill with the challenging first hole. Every 20 seconds, Speaker Nancy Pelosi's gavel slams down in front of the tee!

The BP-sponsored second hole features one of the more challenging obstacles in all of miniature golf: on a random schedule, an exploding rig sets fire to an oil slick on the four thousand gallon water hazard!

The gnarly, burned out row homes represent the successful Summer of Recovery in Detroit, Michigan.

Home of the housing meltdown and favorite employer of well-connected Democrats, this scale model of Fannie Mae's headquarters collapses -- sometimes with the ball trapped in it -- every 90 seconds!

Nothing says economic rebound like the record number of Americans on food stamps. Celebrate the Democrats' Nation of Food Stamps initiative by acing the fifth hole through challenging stacks of giant coupons earmarked for illegal immigrants.

The sixth hole commemorates one of Barack Obama's early successes: the Valerie-Jarret slum known as "Grove Parc" that cost taxpayers millions of dollars and was eventually condemned. Community-organizing at its finest!

Avoid the swinging batons at the challenging par-3 seventh hole, where New Black Panthers block your path to the symbolic voting booth (and hole)!

The Pelosi hole recognizes the most ideologically pure Speaker in American history, who conspired with our historic President to bribe, cajole, arm-twist and beat House members into submission. The tee-mat is an image of Bart Stupak upon which golfers are encouraged to wipe their feet.

The course's final hole is the most challenging: the giant pie-hole of union boss and presidential puppet-master Richard Trumka can literally slice a golf ball in half. Exercise great care if you cross the path of this beast.
