QOTD: 'A top Democrat said it's "almost impossible" Republicans will take over the Senate majority in 2012.

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), his party's former campaign chairman, acknowledged that Democrats have a tough political map... "When you look at it from 30,000 feet, it looks bad," Schumer said during a breakfast meeting at Third Way, the moderate Democratic think tank. "You look at it race by race, it looks good."

Schumer predicted Democrats could pick up Republican-held seats in Massachusetts, Indiana, Arizona or Nevada." --Lisa Mascaro, Los Angeles Times

What do you say? Should I sell 'em?

#NewTone: Occupy Wall Street Flea-baggers Now Issuing Public Death Threats

It's really quite helpful that President Obama, Vice President Biden and the entire Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee are solidly behind the collection of kooks, druggies, anti-semites, truthers, and union hacks that make up the point-nine-nine percenters.

Because now we know precisely where they stand: with punks like this.

If you had any doubt what we're up against with #OccupyWallStreet, this image, tweeted to me on Twitter (@snarky_basterd), should not only give you pause, it should send you to your local gun dealer to stock up.

This is a fight for freedom, my friends. It's a fight for your way of life, your property, your loved ones. If one of the "99 percent" thinks this way, you can bet your ass many more do.

Prepare yourself.

Linking themselves with the OWS miscreants will prove to be another strategic failure for the Axis of Axelrod.

Thanks to U.S. open borders policy, Mexican drug cartels now operating brazenly in Austin, Texas

Leaving our border unprotected while a civil war rages in the failed narco-terror state called Mexico? What could possibly go wrong?

The two men were returning to the small, one-story house in Northeast Austin from Alabama. Hidden in the back of their SUV was $110,000 in carefully wrapped bundles, money authorities said came from cocaine sales.

But responding to an informant's tip, federal drug agents found the men in the parking lot of a bar in Baton Rouge, La., where they searched the truck. As the officers pulled out the cash, the men grew terrified.

"I wish you would put me in jail," one of them said, according to a criminal complaint. "They are going to kill me over this missing money."

According to court documents, the money was destined for an Austin resident the couriers had reason to fear: Jose Procoro Lorenzo-Rodriguez, who authorities say is a local leader for Mexico's brutal La Familia cartel.

The raids that followed revealed that La Familia, a quasi-religious, hyper-violent group born five years ago in the mountains of Michoacán, used Austin as a base of operation to funnel large quantities of cocaine, marijuana and especially methamphetamine to places such as Atlanta and Kansas.

..."It's not surprising that (cartel members) are migrating to Austin as well," said Francisco Cruz Jimenez, a Mexican journalist who chronicled the recent history of Luvianos in his 2010 book "Narco-Land." "It's very natural that they look for communities where they have paisanos because they can go unnoticed."

...Since [2008], Austin officials have learned that as many as four cartels operate inside the city. Law enforcement agencies have arrested human smugglers connected to the Zetas, targeted local prison gang members connected with the Gulf cartel and conducted numerous raids on La Familia members. The Drug Enforcement Administration says members of the Beltrán-Leyva cartel also operate within Austin.

It's certainly reassuring to know that we have the Obama administration's crack law enforcement leadership team -- Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano -- on the case.

Given our open borders and the fact that Hezbollah is now operating in Mexico -- collaborating with the cartels on IED development and terrorism tactics -- it's only a matter of time before our feckless leaders in DC help touch off a 'man-made disaster' here in the states.

Good sign for Bachmann, Cain and Perry: Obama campaign preparing to run against Romney

Given the Obama administration's track record of failures (here's the short list: "Stimulus" programs, HAMP, HEMP, Cash-for-Clunkers, Obamacare, "Financial Reform", permanent 9% unemployment and 20% underemployment, the unlawful takeovers of GM and Chrysler, "Quantitative Easing", a new war, and $5.2 trillion in new Obama debt), I'd count this as excellent news for Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Ricks Perry and Santorum

Eight candidates took part in Tuesday's Republican presidential debate, but President Barack Obama's campaign focused its attention almost exclusively on one: Mitt Romney.

A day after Representative Michele Bachmann, businessman Herman Cain, and Texas Governor Rick Perry debated the economy with the former Massachusetts governor in New Hampshire, the Obama campaign held a conference call with reporters to zoom in on Romney alone.

The call was a sign the Obama campaign is preparing for the man most likely to take on the president in 2012, even if they cannot say that explicitly.

Shhh... no one tell the Axis of Fail that Herman Cain is currently leading Mitt Romney in the polls, having jumped 22 points in the last six weeks.

QOTD: "The war watchers (such as Marc Faber and everyone else who knows what follows an episode of epic Keynesian failure) have just lowered DefCon to level 2 after in a very surprising development the US accused Iran of backing a plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the US and to blow up the Saudi and Israel embassies in Washington. "The plot was part of a $1.5m “international murder-for-hire scheme” that was directly linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said Eric Holder, attorney-general." Now, any press report that details Eric Holder being active in any capacity is almost certainly a confirmation of a false flag, although we will gladly reserve judgment for now. However, if this is indeed the precursor to war, at least CVN 74 and CVN 77 will be quite busy in the next few months. Also, the price chart of Brent will surely to quite surely point from the lower left to the parabolic up." --Tyler Durden

Priceless: Krugman's Island

Uncle Ben:

James Taranto talking about the Occupy Wall Street movement and Paul Krugman's offer to "accept 'the job of helping to translate' incoherent and hateful nonsense 'into more fleshed-out proposals' for what one organizer has labeled 'Krugman's Army'":

"If these people were stripped of the order imposed by the society they are rebelling against--if they were on a deserted island rather than in a public park in an affluent city with a strong police presence--surely it would not take long to degenerate into 'Lord of the Flies.' Krugman would be Piggy.

Oh, and then there's this:

"Obama has failed, and his supporters are turning to nihilism."

Great news, New Yorkers: if you think Medicaid is 'breaking the bank' now, just wait 'til Obamacare kicks in!

Democrat drones hardest hit:

...New York’s Medicaid program has ballooned into America’s most expensive, and its runaway costs are pushing many localities to the brink of fiscal insolvency. Without question, we need real solutions to reform New York’s Medicaid program, reduce costs, increase efficiency and save taxpayer dollars.

...Medicaid is jointly funded through federal and state government, with the federal financing share constituting approximately 50 percent. In New York, state and local governments share in the program’s cost. The state share is approximately 35 percent; the local share amounts to roughly 15 percent. However, even though localities shoulder a significant portion of Medicaid’s hefty price tag, they have virtually no say in how the program is administered...

Since the program was launched, New York’s Medicaid costs have steadily risen to the highest in America. Medicaid spending in New York is now 69 percent more per beneficiary than the national average. This is why Medicaid was cited by the New York State Association of Counties as the largest of nine state unfunded mandates that consume 90 percent of county budgets and contributes to our having America’s second highest combined state-local tax burden. New York’s Medicaid expenditures have soared due to several factors including our state’s above average share of elderly and disabled residents, higher costs for healthcare practitioners and excessive compliance costs caused by state regulations.

Another reason for our state’s nation-leading Medicaid expenditures is New York’s generous income eligibility levels and extensive optional services, which other states do not provide. All of this contributes to the hefty Medicaid costs state government imposes on localities.

Just how out of control is New York’s Medicaid spending? New York spends more than Texas and Florida combined, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. The combined population of Texas and Florida is 43,948,871, while New York’s population is over 19 million, meaning we spend more than Texas and Florida together, even though we have nearly 24 million less residents!

Well, New York drones Democrats: your state's finances have only just begun to bleed, thanks to your politicians' reckless support of Obamacare.

According to a recent study by Ed Haislmaier of the Heritage Foundation, the rolls of beneficiaries and the costs of Medicaid continue to rise, bringing state budgets to the point of crisis. Thanks to Obamacare, this process has been accelerated.

Under Obamacare, Medicare and Medicaid can be expected to add 35-40 million enrollees in the next ten years, with cost projections amounting to a 35 percent increase of the current state burden of $190 billion. States will face massive cost-sharing increases...

State budgets are already at the breaking point. Thanks to Obamacare, we will soon see the structural collapse of Medicaid. Doctors, nurses and health care providers will disappear or simply stop treating Medicaid patients to survive.

And rationing of health care services will become a deadly reality.

Obama's 'Pass This Bill Now' Bill Fails to Get Democrat Support in the Senate; Ends Up in Recycle Bin

I blame the 'Occupy Wall Street' for distracting Senate Democrats with all of that public sex, defecation and drug-taking.

President Obama's $447 billion jobs bill failed to clear a procedural hurdle in the Democratic-controlled Senate Tuesday night despite a White House push that accelerated in the 11th hour.

The bill received a simply majority of 51 votes but fell short of the necessary 60 to end debate. Sens. Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Jon Tester of Montana were the only Democrats to vote against the bill. Both of them are facing tough re-election campaigns next year.

Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., had said earlier that although he intended to vote in favor of ending the Republican filibuster, he did not intend to support the bill if it reached a final vote.

Perhaps President Obama should have started his messaging with the exhortation "Pass this bill now, Democrats!"

Got that, Axelrod?

SmartPower™: Within Minutes of Discovering Iran's DC Bomb Plots, Obama Rules Out Military Retaliation

Unlike the Democrat losers who launched "Wag the Dog" invectives at the Bush administration whenever an attack was foiled, I'll take the Obama White House at its word.

If the reports are accurate, Iran just escalated its offensive against America tenfold by targeting diplomatic personnel and facilities in Washington, DC. No longer content with existential threats against America and killing our soldiers in Iraq, Tehran's Islamo-Nazi regime just upped the ante.

FBI and DEA agents have disrupted a plot to commit a "significant terrorist act in the United States" tied to Iran, federal officials told ABC News today.

The officials said the plot included the assassination of the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States, Adel Al-Jubeir, with a bomb and subsequent bomb attacks on the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Washington, D.C. Bombings of the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Buenos Aires, Argentina, were also discussed, according to the U.S. officials.

...U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said in an announcement today that the plan was "conceived, sponsored and was directed from Iran" by a faction of the government and called it a "flagrant" violation of U.S. and international law... "The U.S. is committed to holding Iran accountable for its actions," Holder said.

Senior Obama administration officials said the U.S. currently does not have any information indicating that either Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei or President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad necessarily knew about the assassination plot and said the U.S. will pursue a path of response that would not include the possibility of an armed conflict with Iran.

Yes, you read that right: the Obama administration immediately ruled out the possibility of a military response.

That a foreign government would plot to kill a foreign leader on American soil could be seen as an act of war, but Obama administration officials say the path the U.S. government will purse will align with American interests – and a military response and possible armed conflict with a third Muslim nation would not be part of that.

So if I understand SmartPower™, it's basically to cower and tell your enemies that you won't retaliate.

Once again, the Democrat Party lives up to its longstanding nickname -- The Party of Weakness.

After all, President Bowsalot doesn't exactly strike an intimidating figure on the world stage.

Thought experiment: would the Mullahs have tried this gambit during a Ronald Reagan or George W. Bush presidency? I think we all know the answer to that question.

Because nothing strikes fear into terrorists like the thought of Eric Holder reading them their Miranda Rights.

Terminal Stupidity: the California Story

Well, what the hell else would you call this:

...In California, illegal immigrants enrolling in college will be eligible for state scholarships and financial aid beginning next July.

Over the weekend, Gov. Jerry Brown signed the second portion of the state’s Dream Act into law. The legislation allows illegal immigrants who graduate from high schools in California to apply to the state’s public universities as residents, granting them a reduced tuition rate
...

...In light of the "Dream Act" passage, please consider California Nears Automatic Spending Cuts With Revenue $705 Million Short:

California’s revenue for the fiscal year that began three months ago has fallen $705 million below what Governor Jerry Brown and Democrats projected, approaching a level that may trigger automatic university spending cuts and higher community college fees...

...Education costs are poised to rise for everyone in California except illegal aliens who get a reduced rate. Is this a dream or a nightmare? The answer depends on whether or not you are an illegal alien (or a politician who gets elected pandering to them).

Illegal immigration costs Californians at least $10.4 billion a year.

Oh, and that figure was tallied before the state's insane "Dream Act", which rewards illegal immigration and encourages more of it.

If illegals were entering the state and taking Democrat legislators' jobs, I feel certain they wouldn't be quite so welcome.

30 times worse than Solyndra

Say, how's that GM investment working out for taxpayers?

BailoutCost.com calculates to the second and to the penny how much we are in the hole on the Government Motors bailout.

Briefly: We own about 500 million GM shares. To break even, they need to be sold at $53 per. Right now they're trading at about $23.

Which loses us about $15 billion.

Remember, Solyndra lost us: $0.5 billion.

I'm not real good at math, but that seems like a lot more.

20-30 times more (again, depending on the share price whence we sell).

Besides abrogating bankruptcy law to hand the UAW an immense payoff, let's not forget the administration's skulduggery surrounding Dealergate and the hundreds of selective dealer closings that seemed curiously -- how you say? -- selective and partisan.

When the complete history of the Obama-Holder administration is finally written, I'm certain it will make Nixon-Mitchell look like the kids who stole fizzy-lifting drinks from Willy Wonka's factory.

Ten Arizona sheriffs demand probe as 1,500 Fast and Furious weapons are still unaccounted for; Eric Holder hardest hit

The natives are getting understandably restless:

Led by Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, 10 Arizona sheriffs are calling for an investigation into what U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder knew about "Operation Fast and Furious," a gun-running operation that put weapons into the hands of violent drug cartels in Mexico.

...Babeu, an outspoken critic of the federal government's enforcement of immigration law, was joined outside the Arizona Capitol building Friday by the other sheriffs, representing nine of Arizona's 15 counties. Babeu called "Fast and Furious" a betrayal of state law enforcement. He said the issue is not partisan, but a public safety issue and that guns allowed into Mexico have been linked to dozens of crime scenes on both sides of the border.

"I want the truth, I want the truth from the attorney general, I want the truth from all of those people who are involved," Babeu said... If Holder is found to have lied about his knowledge of "Fast and Furious," he should resign, Babeu said.

Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever, whose county borders Mexico, said U.S. authorities are in a fight for our country, our Constitution and our very lives.

"While our own government is blaming America for exporting arms and cash south of the border, they're complicit," Dever said.

Babeu said "Fast and Furious" is no small scandal... "I believe that this is a much larger scandal than anything that took place in Watergate because off of this information has had to be dragged out through Congress," he said.

Babeu said 1,500 weapons remain unaccounted for and there's no doubt more bloodshed will occur.

Over 200 Mexican nationals and two American law enforcement officials are dead thanks to Eric Holder and Barack Obama.

And 1,500 weapons are still out there.

Who you should thank for Bank of America's new $5 monthly debit card fee

I'm assuming you've heard about Bank of America's controversial decision to add a $5 monthly fee to each debit card account. Here's why they did it (hint -- thank the Dodd-Frank "financial reform" bill):

The new $5 monthly fee Bank of America is charging debit card holders wasn't just picked because the spreadsheet guys really like Subway $5 footlongs. There's actually a calculation behind it. Here's the math.

ConsumerAffairs.com explains how under the old rules, debit card fees usually amounted to an average of 44 cents per transaction. The new rules cap the fees at 24 cents per transaction. That's 20 cents per swipe they're not making.

Now, the average consumer has 25 debit card transactions per month. Multiply the 20 cents 25 times and you get $5 as the amount, on average, Bank of America stands to lose per debit card holder per month.

So there you have the business reason for the $5.

Gee, I'm stunned.

You mean central planning didn't work (again)?

Pity the Obama Democrats can't and won't ever learn this simple economic truth.
