Hilarious: 1,800-word article on John Edwards trial doesn't mention the word 'Democrat', but manages to mention 'Republican' 5 times

Erstwhile presidential candidate and world-class philanderer John Edwards is profiled Wednesday in a monumental Atlantic article entitled "Why the John Edwards Trial Is a Bigger Deal Than You Think."

Jury selection in the federal criminal trial of John Edwards begins Thursday April 12th in a Greensboro, N.C., courtroom. As the world now knows, Edwards chose to cheat on his cancer-stricken wife during his 2008 presidential run. Two wealthy political supporters then spent hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting Edwards's mistress as part of a failed effort to keep the affair quiet. Prosecutors decided that the financial support constituted unreported, excessive and thus illegal campaign donations, and indicted Edwards for his role in the arrangement.

Author Hampton Dellinger does yeoman's work in avoiding the D-word over the course of the 1,800-word tome, which could be applied copiously to the dirtbag, douche, and dimwit in question.

However, Dellinger does manage to slip in the word Republican a scant five times.

In one respect, Edwards was right. There really are two Americas: the Democrat-media elites who think they are our betters, and the rest of us.

Update: Tom Blumer notes that the author ran for Lt. Governor in NC as a... Democrat.

Death Panels: They're Real, and They're SPECTACULAR

You didn't read about it in the funny papers, but Massachusetts introduced its brand of Death Panels on April 1st. And, no, it wasn't an April Fool's joke -- unfortunately.

On March 20, 2012, Massachusetts' Office of Health and Human Services wrote to inform all Acute Care Hospitals, all Emergency Rooms, all Long-Term Care facilities, all Directors of Nursing, all ambulance services, all EMS training institutions, and all affiliated hospitals that MOLST (Medical Orders for LifeSustaining Treatment) would begin on April 1st.

What is MOLST? As a presentation on Patient Care Link (PDF) explains:

In short, MOLST is in place to prevent "unnecessary hospitalizations" for you pesky older folks who just refuse to die when it's time. MOLST forms are available anywhere people might be in danger of using precious health care resources, because -- as the form notes -- "The form is effective immediately upon signature. Photocopy, fax or electronic copies of properly signed MOLST forms are valid."

Note that the three options (A, B, and C) are all designed to prevent the use of expensive health care services. Massachusetts health care is breaking the bank. So the powers-that-be are encouraging, in every way possible, what Goldfinger told Bond: No, grandma -- we want you to die.

You can't be trusted to have these forms ready on your own.

Oh -- and Massachusetts, of course, was the template for Obamacare.

I'll publish more details soon about Obamacare's version of death panels, which are 100% real. Sarah Palin was right.

QOTD: "...understand that Rosen’s comments also transcend her opinion of stay-at-home moms. She’s articulating the narrow, intolerant leftist view that if you are a member of a particular group, you must adopt the attitudes of the left, or you won’t measure up. If you are black, a woman or gay and don’t subscribe to liberalism and embrace its hostile identity politics, you are not an authentic black person, woman or gay person. If you are a pro-life woman, you can’t fully identify with real women.

Rosen’s view that the “Romney-Ryan” budget victimizes waitresses further displays the left’s habit of seeing everything through the prism of identity politics. Like President Obama, she places people in economic classes, too — the haves and the have-nots — and the only solution they offer the “have-nots” is government assistance, not the hope of advancement through greater opportunity." --David Limbaugh

Spokes-hack Jay Carney Beclowns Himself, Episode 828: "Hilary Who?"

Great find by Red State's Moe Lane as White House spokes-idiot Jay Carney does his level best to weasel away from the disastrous Hilary Rosen implosion.

Rosen, of course, had pilloried mother-of-five, MS sufferer and breast cancer survivor Ann Romney as being out of touch and having "never worked a day in her life".

And, as Michelle Malkin reveals, Rosen had also visited the Obama White House a stunning 35 times.

First of all, I haven't seen the records, uh, I don't, uh, know that Hilary Rosen, I know three [holds up three fingers] personally -- women named Hilary Rosen -- and don't know those represent the person we're, uh, talking about. Necessarily.

So I really can't comment on the number of visits, 'cause I'm not sure that's accurate.

Rosen visited the White House 35 freaking times, including five visits to the president himself, one to David "Red Diaper Baby" Axelrod, three to Valerie "Grove Parc" Jarrett, and another to the Maoist Anita Dunn.

And Carney's never heard of her. I would give my Media Matters Kruggerand to Carney if he'd agree to an interview while strapped to a polygraph.

Crappy Career Choice o' the Day: North Korean Rocket Scientist

Two words to describe North Korea's vaunted multi-stage rocket launch, which lasted all of about 90 seconds. Epic. Fail.

North Korea's attempt Friday to launch a long-range rocket has failed, according to U.S. officials. A senior U.S. official who is receiving updates from U.S. military launch observers tells Fox News the rocket broke apart between 90 seconds and 2 minutes after launching.

In Pyongyang, there was no word about a launch, and state television was broadcasting video for popular folk tunes. North Korean officials said they would make an announcement about the launch "soon."

North Korea had earlier announced it would send a three-stage rocket mounted with a satellite as part of celebrations honoring national founder Kim Il Sung, whose 100th birthday is being celebrated Sunday.

For those DPRK scientists who survive the purge, I predict a long and painful stint in a "re-education" camp.

You know, the kind that Barack Obama and his pal Bill Ayers would like to throw regular Americans in, if they had the power.

Priorities: Obama Won't Spend 1/30th of 1% of Bloated Dept. of 'Education' Budget on Inner-City DC Kids

If you needed additional confirmation that President Obama doesn't give a damn about urban youth, please consider "President Obama’s Budget Priority: Eliminate the D.C. Voucher Program:

“Budgets are about choices,” stated President Obama in recent remarks to governors about his massive fiscal year (FY) 2013 budget request. Nothing more clearly demonstrates the Administration’s priorities than Obama’s decision to once again place the successful D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program (DCOSP) on the chopping block while simultaneously growing the Department of Education’s (DOE) budget more than any other federal agency.

In so doing, President Obama is showing low-income D.C. families that his priority is maintaining the unacceptable status quo—at least when it comes to other programs—while bowing to special interest groups like the education unions to eliminate the DCOSP. The Washington Post editorialized yesterday:

Surely, it shouldn’t be among the president’s priorities to single out for attack a tiny federal program that not only works—in the judgment of federal evaluators—but also enjoys bipartisan support. If it is, we trust that [House Speaker John] Boehner [R–OH] would step in, as he did last year, to save a program that D.C.’s poorest families value for their children.

Boehner did in fact save the voucher program last year. The Speaker leveraged last year’s heated budget negotiations to secure a five-year reauthorization of the DCOSP. And as the Post notes today, families “welcomed the certainty.” But once again, poor families in the nation’s capital, home to some of the lowest-performing and least safe public schools in the country, are left to wonder why President Obama has singled out this small, yet effective, school choice program.

And the program actually saves money: "...at between $8,000 and $12,000, the vouchers are a fraction of the more than $18,000 spent per-pupil in D.C. public schools."

Barack Obama cares about one thing: votes.

He will throw anyone -- kids included -- under the bus in order to retain his white-knuckled grip on the reins of power. Teachers' unions send millions to his campaign coffers. Kids send nothing. Easy choice for a demagogue.

Which is why Obama won't even spend $20 million -- out of total of $69,800 million (or 1/30th of 1%) that goes to the bloated, unconstitutional, and irrationally named Department of "Education".

Good News: Eric Holder Promoting Black vs. Hispanic Race War

Every time you think Eric Holder has hit bottom -- as the most malignant and lawless attorney general in American history -- he starts digging a new sub-basement.

CNS News has found some interesting video of Attorney General Eric Holder praising controversial Rev. Al Sharpton during a speech at Sharpton’s National Action Network conference on Wednesday.

CNS has the quotes:

At the opening of NAN’s 14th annual convention in Washington, D.C., the attorney general first thanked MSNBC’s Rev. Sharpton “for your partnership, your friendship, and your tireless efforts to speak out for the voiceless, to stand up for the powerless, and to shine a light on the problems we must solve, and the promises we must fulfill.”

The glowing speech is curious considering Sharpton has been an advocate for Zimmerman’s guilt before he was even charged with a crime.

“MSNBC’s Sharpton has led several rallies, shouting Arrest Zimmerman Now!‘ and has called for civil disobedience and an “occupation” in Sanford, Fla., if an arrest is not made,” CNS notes.

Yesterday several callers to the Mark Levin radio show -- who self-identified as Hispanic/Latino -- were livid with Holder's endorsement of "Reverend Al". In the new media, Hispanic websites are tracking the case with what I interpret as a distinct sense of unease.

• "Why are they calling him a white Hispanic?’… That shows a lack of understanding about the Latino community"

Zimmerman Case Ignites Dialogue on Latino Racial Identity

• Kelly Virella defends Zimmerman: "My son is Hispanic and not a racist"

Latino Rebels is tracking George Zimmerman Incarceration Information

• Julie M. Rodriguez argues that "George Zimmerman Proves Latinos Can Be Racist, Too"

Racial animosities between the African-American and Latino communities are simmering, thanks to tacit encouragement by Eric Holder and Barack Obama. It's gotten so bad that the shadow arm of the Mexican government, the radical separatist group La Raza (literally: "The Race" or "The Master Race"), has ridden to the rescue of the White House.

Just in case tensions weren't high enough in the Trayvon Martin case, the head of a controversial Hispanic group appears happy to pour gasoline on the fire.

Calling for an African-American-Hispanic alliance against "common enemies", La Raza President Janet Murguia used Wednesday's Al Sharpton radio show to spread an incendiary message of hate. Happy to conveniently overlook George Zimmerman's Peruvian ancestry, Murguia made her divisive agenda abundantly clear...

JANET MURGUIA (PRESIDENT, LA RAZA) (36:39): I think for us it’s about understanding that we have common interests and we have to be able to understand that our demographics today, a lot of people want to pit who’s the largest minority vs. who’s taking over as the largest demographic and all that.

We need to understand that when you put those two demographics together you know when you put sixteen percent of the Latino population now in the US combined with fourteen percent of the African American population is what can we do together now to attack those common enemies? To attack the common barriers that present themselves for us.

When violence results, will these extremists take responsibility, or continue to deflect blame everywhere else? Who will be hurt or killed thanks to their reckless rhetoric?

I will vote for Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, or any other Republican in November to get rid of Barack Obama and his henchmen. These people must be thrown out of office and, if necessary, prosecuted by a real attorney general.

Man Charged With Dealing Heroin in a School Zone Very Nearly Bails Himself Out With an EBT Welfare Card

When it comes to illustrating the multi-faceted failures of Barack Obama and his Democrat-media slags, this story is the funniest thing I've read all day:

A convicted drug dealer — who cops said wanted to use cash from his taxpayer-funded EBT card to post bail — is the new face of welfare abuse, according to tough-minded lawmakers who are pushing the reform-resistant Patrick administration for a crackdown.

Kimball Clark, 45, was locked up Friday on drug-dealing charges — again — when he was overheard using his one phone call to ask the person on the other end of the line to “get my EBT card and go to the ATM and get the money to bail me out, get me outa here tonight,” according to a Boston police report.

“It’s another outrage,” said state Rep. Shaunna O’Connell (R-Taunton), a member of the EBT Task Force who criticized the group for failing to push tough restrictions on the use of the controversial cards. “When we were on the EBT Card Commission, I fought to get bail bondsmen on that list of places where people could not use their EBT cards. They fought me on it and told me people can’t use their EBT cards in that way.”

In less than three and a half years, Barack Obama's administration has redistributed a record amount of money to unbelievably fraud-laced programs. From welfare to food stamps, Medicare and Medicaid, and everything in between.

• "Not even the USDA knows what people are buying with food stamps"

• "Medicare fraud is estimated at between $60 and 80 billion annually"

• "Widespread fraud associated with the Stimulus"

In short, everything the government touches turns to crap. Which, each and every day, highlights the wisdom of the Constitution's Framers, who explicitly forbade government from entering these realms. It's time we returned to the Constitution's letter and meaning. And to throw all of these leftist bums out of office.

Most Awesomest Public Service Evah: Outing Gangs on Social Media

Great idea from the guys and gals at Charleston Thug Life, who launched their public service website on March 31st and have seen traffic take off ever since.

What is CTL? It would appear that a few law-abiding Charlestonians are scanning social media sites for the local criminal class, meaning Facebook users who display weapons, drugs, drug money, and/or gang affiliations.

People across the country, and even in the socialist welfare state known as the United Kingdom, have repeatedly referred to these blog writers as "cracka asshole", "dude's a cracka...", and endless other variations. Racist and sexist all. The female members of the team are demanding equality and might bring the ACLU in to remedy the discrimination problem. We have been trying to talk them down, but you know the old saying about a woman scorned. Other members of the team really don't give a damn as long as the work is appreciated and the reader continues to see a value in it.

When screaming "racist" didn't work, those who seek to protect the criminals profiled here resorted to calling in the street lawyers. "You are violating Facebook policy....." Ha! We are constantly on the alert for those Facebook police skulking around. Right. Folks, let us lay it out very simply.

Charleston Thug Life is basically a non-government subsidized welfare agency that specializes in assisting drug dealers, jackboys, and gang-bangers publicize their businesses. They obviously want to advertise their activities and increase their customer base, much like a normal small business. Unfortunately, they are limited to the several hundred, maybe a thousand friends on their lists. CTL steps in and provides our own special advertising assistance and our clients are now getting worldwide exposure for their ventures.

Oh. And here's a good one.

Casualty Report and a Response to Rhonda Green

"Bigg Freedro Juicee" has deleted his incriminating profile.

Mrs. Green,

We are not sure which of the featured subjects you are referring to in your comments at the Post and Courier. In spite of this lack of information we will try to address your concerns.

We can sympathize with the plight of trying to raise a teenager in these troubling times. Some of us are struggling with the same dilemma. Keep plugging away at it.

That being said, if we found one of those children holding forth on the web about 'trappin' (drug dealing), flashing thousands of dollars, using drugs, displaying weapons, and threatening bodily harm to other 'trappas' (drug dealers), the last thing he or she would have to worry about would be embarrassment or the trauma of deleting his or her profile. An extensive non-DSS approved ass whipping would be followed by a thorough search of the home to ensure none of those illicit items were stashed anywhere in or around the residence.

Possession of certain firearms by minors is forbidden by law. Minors can't buy weapons, so the logical conclusion is those weapons in the photos are stolen. A consult with a criminal lawyer might be a prudent course of action. Or you could just call your local law enforcement agency and have them come out to explain the law to your son. I'm sure our public servants would be happy to play a part in his return to the straight and narrow.

If being featured here has "served as a wakeup call" for your son, then our goal has been achieved. Pointing out which blog star you are talking about would help us better address your issues.

Your comment leads the reader to assume you are speaking of the person whose photo was featured in the article. If you are referring to "Bigg Freedro Juicee" we would suggest you read the comments attached to the photos we captured. The evidence in that profile indicates something much more sinister than a kid trying to fit in.

We are pleased we could assist you in your child rearing endeavors.

Keep up the great work, ladies and gents.

Good news for millionaires: President Obama wants their tax rates dropped to match those of "average working Americans"

Of course, what the president said and what he meant are, as usual, diametrically opposed.

NPR says that President Obama will propose that millionaires pay income taxes “at the same rates as average working Americans.”

That would be good news for most millionaires!

The Congressional Budget Office reported in 2010,

The overall federal tax system is progressive—that is, average tax rates generally rise with income. Households in the bottom quintile (fifth) of the income distribution paid 4 percent of their income in federal taxes, while the middle quintile paid 14 percent, and the highest quintile paid 25 percent. Average rates continued to rise within the top quintile, with the top 1 percent facing an average rate of close to 30 percent.

I'd like to remind readers that the "progressive" income tax -- which is actually regressive -- is antithetical to America's history, traditions and founding.

As Karl Marx wrote in his seminal Communist Manifesto:

The proletariat will use its political supremacy to wrest, by degree, all capital from the bourgeoisie... ...in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable: A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

In fact, a careful comparison of Karl Marx' 10-point program of Communism and the Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda would truly find few disagreements.

GM: "Why, of course that explosion at the Volt battery lab is completely unrelated to the Volt battery!"

Why would anyone think that today's explosion at GM's Volt battery lab is at all related to the Volt? Or its battery, you buncha nasty wingers!

I mean, haven't GM's engineers already solved all of the problems with exploding batteries, melting power cords, and suspicious fires?

Two employees were injured Wednesday in a lithium battery explosion that forced the evacuation of about 80 other employees at a General Motors facility north of Detroit, the Associated Press reports.

The explosion at the Alternative Energy Center laboratory at the GM Tech Center in Warren, Mich., also caused a small fire that was quickly extinguished. One worker was taken to a hospital, and the other was treated at the scene.

The Tech Center, a sprawling 1950s-era campus, is home to the battery laboratory for the Chevrolet Volt electric car, but GM said in a statement that the explosion was "unrelated to the Chevrolet Volt or any other production vehicle," according to the AP. "The incident was related to extreme testing on a prototype battery," the automaker said in its statement...

RYAN: Quite the contrary. Our poverty rates are the highest they've been in a generation. One out of six people are in poverty today. The President's policies are not working and we're advancing pro-growth policies to get people off of welfare on to work. What we want to do is replicate those successful strategies that worked in the late '90s, that were not applied to these other welfare programs, to get people on to lives of self-sufficiency, from welfare to work. And we're proposing reforms and transitions that do that. We just don't agree that throwing more money at failed programs works. We want to reform these programs so that they actually achieve the result of getting people on their lives of self-sufficiency.

[RNN] Given a brutal battle shaping up for his reelection campaign, Barack Obama is reportedly considering a replacement for Vice President Joe Biden in the run-up to 2012. Often lampooned as "the dumbest man ever to serve as Senator and, of course, also the dumbest man ever to serve as Vice President", Biden is increasingly seen as a political liability among Democrat power-brokers.

Speaking off the record, David Axelrod noted that Biden's record of gaffes, blunders, misstatements, and outright inanity had become "more than a liability". Axelrod alluded to secret discussions with other potential running-mates including an unnamed rodent-like mammal with "considerably more intellectual firepower and charisma" than Biden.

Although the rodent has yet to be publicly identified, a spy photograph has emerged of President Obama meeting with the would-be VP candidate.

Calls to David Flouffe to confirm these reports had not been returned at press time.

I've finally found a federal statute under which Obama, Pelosi and Reid can be charged... right now

So I'm reading this Wall Street Journal article titled "For Feds, 'Lying' Is a Handy Charge" and run across this snippet.

When federal prosecutors can't muster enough evidence to bring charges against a person suspected of a crime, they can still use a controversial law to get a conviction anyway: They charge the person with lying.

The law against lying—known in legal circles simply as "1001"—makes it a crime to knowingly make a material false statement in matters of federal jurisdiction. Critics across the political spectrum argue that 1001, a widely used statute in the federal criminal code, is open to abuse. It is charged hundreds of times a year, according to court records and interviews with lawyers and legal scholars.

Wouldn't it be great to charge our most egregious politicians under this statute? I'm thinking of several very public, very obvious lies by our would-be tyrants beloved leaders. Like:

Barack Obama pressing for Congress to pass Obamacare: "We will start by reducing premiums by as much as $2,500 per family." (And to avoid the charge of cherry-picking this promise, he is on record repeating this diabolical claim on 20 separate occasions).

Nancy Pelosi, claiming that Obamacare would not allow federal funds to pay for abortions: "I want the record to show... the law of the land is there is no public funding for abortion. There is no public funding for abortions in these bills."

Let me repeat the operative sentence: The law against lying makes it a crime to knowingly make a material false statement in matters of federal jurisdiction.

What's more material than your own health care, already ravaged by price controls and other governmental interventions?

Quick - where's a federal prosecutor? I'm sure Eric Holder is preparing charges as we speak.

Technogeekery: How to easily add Twitter and Facebook buttons to each post in Blogger

In the painful conversion effort from my aged Blogger template to a more modern version, I ran into several rather oppressive restrictions. For example, I wanted to retain the "Facebook Like" and "Tweet This" buttons with counts at the top, right-hand side of each and every post.

It does not appear Blogger allows you to do this without converting your entire template into HTML.

With my fondness for jQuery, I figured there had to be a way to add these buttons using only the Layout feature and a single HTML/Javascript gadget. After some experimentation, I discovered there does appear to be a way.

<script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div id="fb-root"></div>
<script type="text/javascript">
(function(d, s, id) {
  var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
  if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
  js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
  js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1&appId=Facebook App ID";
  fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));

$(function() {
 $('.post-title').each(function(i, obj) {
  var o = $(this).find('a');
  var sURL = o.attr('href');
  var sTitle = o.text();
  if (sURL == null) {
   sURL = document.URL;
  }
  var sTemp = "";
  sTemp += "<table border='0' style='float: right; margin: -39px -18px 3px 9px;'><tr><td>";
  sTemp += "<div style='text-align:left;padding:0 0 0 0;'><a class='twitter-share-button' data-count='vertical' data-text='"+sTitle+"' data-url='"+sURL+"' data-via='directorblue' data-related='' href='http://twitter.com/share'>Tweet</a><script src='http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js' type='text/javascript'></"+"sc"+"ript></div>";
  sTemp += "</td><td>";
  sTemp += "<div class='fb-like' data-href='"+sURL+"' data-send='false' data-layout='box_count' data-width='0' data-show-faces='false'></div>";
  sTemp += "</td></tr></table>";
  var p = $(this).parent().find('.post-body');
  p.html(sTemp + p.html());
 });
});
</script>

You may need to update the margins (in red), because each template may have some different offsets. Obviously, you'll need to use your own Facebook App ID (in blue).

Good luck! No warranty is either express or implied, and any damage you do to your template is your own dang fault!

Celebrate: America's Debt Is Greater than the Entire Eurozone

Why isn't President Obama trumpeting this news? After all, he's been the architect of the plan to bankrupt America. And it's one of the few things he's actually been good at.

...the Senate Budget Committee will release this chart later today, clearly showing that America's debt is greater than the combined debt of the entire Eurozone and the U.K.

As the chart shows, America's debt is currently $15.1 trillion, while the Eurozone (which includes France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, the U.K., and others) has a combined debt of $12.7 trillion. (All dollar amounts are in U.S. dollars, and the data refers to closing 2011 numbers.)

The Eurozone is larger than the United States, so America's debt per capita also exceeds the Eurozone's. According to the Census Bureau, the U.S. has a population of 313 million, whereas the Eurozone has a population in excess of 331 million.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney frequently warns that the United States should not become like Greece. "We need to rein in government and unleash the extraordinary vitality and creativity of the American people," Romney wrote in a December op-ed. "We must not wait to suffer a crisis like Greece's or Portugal's to right the ship of state."

But with charts like this, that formulation might already be out of date, considering the enormity of America's debt burden.
Why aren't Democrats proud of their record?

Hell, they've gone 1,080 days without passing a budget. That's a modern American record.

Take pride in your failures, progressives! Revel in your efforts to destroy America! Own the fiscal destruction, the unemployment, and the epic ruin you're bringing to our children!

QOTD: "The most significant events often escape media attention. How many would know from reading their daily newspaper or watching television that we live in an unprecedented economic period when the number of people living in extreme poverty is declining fast? According to a just-published World Bank report, the percentage of people living on less than $1.25 per day—or its local equivalent—has plummeted from 52 percent of the global population in 1981 to 22 percent in 2008. The World Bank doesn’t provide more recent data, but other indices show that the 2008 financial crisis did not interrupt this trend. For millions of households, crossing the symbolic $1.25 threshold means leaving destitution behind and moving toward a more dignified life—no trivial achievement. Moreover, this escape from poverty happens while the global population continues to grow. Doomsday prophets who warned about a ticking “population bomb” have not been vindicated, to say the least. Global warming messiahs, beware: human ingenuity proves able to cope with the predicaments of Mother Nature..." --Guy Sorman, "Growing Out of Poverty"
