GENIUS: Senate Republicans pass yet another immigration bill that the Obama administration is certain to ignore

I know why the Democrats want Amnesty for illegals: it guarantees them a brand new voting bloc dependent upon their big government handouts.

But perhaps the geniuses John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Marco Rubio -- ostensibly Republicans, but in truth of unknown political affiliation -- can explain the following to me. Why would an administration that has gleefully flouted and ignored existing immigration laws decide to rigidly enforce this latest monstrosity?

That's a rhetorical question.

Just minutes ago, the RINO establishment teamed with the hard left Democrat Party to pass the Corker Amendment that not one member of the Senate has read or understands. The vote was 67-27 to advance this Obamacare-like bill.

Here is the Hall of Shame: These are the 15 RINOs who betrayed the trust of the American people.
Corker Alexander Ayotte Chiesa
Collins Flake Graham Hatch
Heller Hoeven Kirk McCain
Murkowski Rubio Wicker
The American people are orders of magnitude smarter than their representatives: Rasmussen reports that only 28 percent believe the administration will secure the border if the Rubio-Schumer Amnesty bill passes.

G.O.P. Apparently Stands for "Greedy Old Punks"

If I served in Congress over the past four-and-a-half years and had witnessed:

• The Republican Party being completely shut out of any input into the massive health care reform law -- Obamacare -- that was rammed through Congress on Christmas Eve using procedural tricks, backdoor deals, outright bribes and intimidation...

• The administration trotting out various parties to lie under oath to Congress including, but not limited to, Hillary Clinton, Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano, James Clapper, Douglas Shulman, and Lois Lerner...

• A series of scandals unprecedented in American presidential history -- from running thousands of guns to Mexican drug cartels to falling asleep during a terrorist attack -- that make Watergate look like a theft of Girl Scout cookies.

What kind of people allow themselves to be treated like this?

Who allows themselves to be slapped around like a bunch of punks?

Well, it would seem that the Republican establishment fits this description.

I say this because despite being punked over and over and over again, the Beltway establishment Republicans are still cooperating with the likes of Obama, Chuck Schumer, and Robert ("Hey, little girl!") Menendez to pass an immense Amnesty bill that not a single person has read.

Let me repeat: not a single member of Congress understands what is in this "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" bill.

What we know about it thus far is devastating. The Corker Amendment was crafted in secret by special interest groups. We know that it will devastate the American economy by increasing unemployment, lowering wages, and building a massive new dependency class.

The Republican Party is a Hazmat zone.

Aside from some Constitutionalists like Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Jeff Sessions, Rand Paul and a few others, the party has abandoned its base for the siren song of Karl ("1.3% victory rate") Rove and the nerds at The Wall Street Journal.

It's time to politically obliterate the RINO establishment and replace it with Constitutionalists. Because the RINO establishment are nothing but greedy old punks.

HONG KONG TO ERIC HOLDER: Stuff It

The government of Hong Kong issued a press release today in response to a DOJ extradition request for Edward Snowden.

Ouch. It would appear that Hong Kong is treating Eric Holder with all of the respect and deference he deserves.

FACE THE NATION: Sen. Jeff Sessions Eviscerates the Rubio-Schumer-Corker Amnesty Bill

The Rubio-Schumer Amnesty bill -- and the so-called Corker Amendment -- represent a crime against the American citizenry and an affront to every legal immigrant. Appearing on Face the Nation this morning, Senator Jeff Sessions spoke truth to power.

This bill grants amnesty first and a mere promise of enforcement in the future, even with the Corker-Hoeven amendment, all of which has been put in now on a 1,200 page [bill] we’ll vote on Monday afternoon that no one has read… These promises of 20,000 agents won’t take place and are not required until 2021… It [even] has a specific provision that says the Sec. Napolitano does not have to build a fence if she chooses not to… And CBO concludes that the legal immigration will be dramatically increased… Why would any Member of Congress want to vote for a bill, at a time of high unemployment [and] falling wages, to bring in a huge surge of new labor that can only hurt the poorest among us the most?

On The Rush To Vote: This bill grants amnesty first and a mere promise of enforcement in the future, even with the Corker-Hoeven amendment, all of which has been put in now on a 1,200 page [bill] we’ll vote on Monday afternoon that no one has read… I think if people find out that this amendment does not accomplish what the sponsors believe it does, then I think the bill could be back in trouble again... Why would any Member of Congress want to vote for a bill, at a time of high unemployment [and] falling wages, to bring in a huge surge of new labor that can only hurt the poorest among us the most?

No Added Border Security: These promises of 20,000 agents won’t take place and are not required until 2021, no money is being appropriated for that, it's merely an authorization... It [even] has a specific provision that says the Sec. Napolitano does not have to build a fence if she chooses not to. And she has publicly said that she thinks we have enough fencing.

On CBO's Finding That Bill Will Depress Wages: The reason why this amendment was thrown in here at the last minute is because the promises were not fulfilled, and this amendment does not fulfill its promises either, frankly.... We are going to have amnesty first, no enforcement in the future, and we're going to have continued illegality—at least 75% according to the CBO report. And CBO concludes that the legal immigration will be dramatically increased…We're going to have lower wages and higher unemployment according to the CBO analysis of this bill.

This bill is a disaster. If it passes, it guarantees at least three things will happen to the U.S. over the coming decade:

• We will see the arrival of tens of millions of mostly low-skilled workers who will be dependent on the American taxpayer to survive.

• That influx of low-skilled labor will translate to Lower wages for American workers across the board.

• And that surge assures higher levels of unemployment for American workers.

There's a reason the Democrats and Pseudo-Republicans are trying to rush this bill through the Senate. They don't want you to know what's in it.

It's time to take action. Call your Senator and two other Senators now: Say No to Amnesty. And then call them again on Monday.

Why does the "Top 150" list have 200 entries? The same reason the Big Ten has, like, 48 teams. Update: Inevitably, some sites are inadvertently omitted from the list (and this is always Biff Spackle's fault). The superb The People's Cube should be #97 on the list and The Looking Spoon should be #103.

There is every reason to expect this discretion to be abused to widen amnesty.

We have seen how the Obama administration unlawfully refused to enforce the immigration laws as to removal proceedings, as a federal judge found.

Now they want you to trust that they will not waive enforcement of other provisions in the name of what they deem to be the public interest.

The rush to a vote in the Senate does not allow time to fully understand all the provisions. And that’s why the rush is taking place." --William A. Jacobson

A New Google Maps Debuts on an Invitation-Only Basis

I just received my invitation to try a new version of Google Maps and am very pleased thus far. Here's a quick look (click to enbiggaplode):

Initial take:

• The dramatically increased screen real estate devoted to the map is excellent.

• Search results for local businesses seem improved.

• The user interface and navigation are further streamlined and impressively easy to use.

In short, great job by Google's engineers in improving an already excellent product.

TREACHERY AND TREASON: Sleazebag Bob Corker Slips Permanent Amnesty for Illegals Into Rubio-Schumer Bill

The Rubio-Schumer Amnesty Bill is a thousand pages of pure, unvarnished treason. And a treacherous "Republican" named Bob Corker just made things infinitely worse in a purported attempt to secure the border to assuage conservatives' concerns.

Just as public anxiety about the weak border security provisions in the Senate immigration bill was building, GOP Sen. Bob Corker stepped forward with an amendment to "fix" the problem... Breitbart News has learned exclusively that one provision of Corker's amendment will allow workers who stay in the country past their visa will remain on the "path to citizenship."

Even in the future, breaking the law won't stop progress on what VP Joe Biden calls the "unfettered path" to citizenship.

The Corker Amendment ostensibly addresses measures to beef up border security. It, however, is also likely to be the last amendment considered on the immigration bill. As such, it has become a 1,000+ page amendment to supplant the current proposal and provide multiple new provisions. It has become the vehicle for ObamaCare 2.0.

Buried within the text of the Amendment is a seemingly innocuous provision:

(f) APPLICABILITY OF CERTAIN GROUNDS OF INADMISSIBILITY.—In determining an alien’s inadmissibility under this section, section 212(a)(9)(B) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(9)(B)) shall not apply.

What does that mean?

Current law states that those applying for green cards are ineligible if they are either "illegally present" at any point or overstay the terms of their work visa. Such an immigrant, in current law, would have to return to their home country and restart the immigration process...

...The Corker Amendment wipes away that enforcement mechanism... any worker in the country on a legal work visa for 10 years can get a green card, even if they overstay their visa. The Corker Amendment allows immigrants to break the law in the future and still be eligible for citizenship. It absolves prospective behavior, not simply past mistakes.

Prior to the Corker Amendment, the 4.5 million immigrants outside the country on a visa waiting-list were subject to laws restricting their presence in the US. The Gang Senate bill would offer them immediate green cards, as long as they hadn't violated current US Law.

The language in the new Corker Amendment referenced above, however, would remove this restriction. They would become immediately eligible for a green card, even if they lived illegally in this country. The Corker Amendment wipes away any immigration enforcement. It is designed to maximize the number of individuals who qualify for citizenship... The Corker Amendment actually stipulates that, in perpetuity, you can break the law, overstay your visa, and still be eligible for citizenship.

Far from adding border security to this pathetic bill, the Corker Amendment actually makes things worse.

Please call your Senator and two other Senators now and tell them to kill this bill. No permanent Amnesty. No Rubio-Schumer-Obama madness.

Then sign the petition.

This bill must be obliterated.

THE CASH FURNACE: 66 mind-blowing ways the federal government wastes your hard-earned money

Why did the U.S. government spend 2.6 million dollars to train Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly?  Why did the U.S. government spend $175,587 "to determine if cocaine makes Japanese quail engage in sexually risky behavior"?  Why did the U.S. government spend nearly a million dollars on a new soccer field for detainees being held at Guantanamo Bay?  This week when I saw that the IRS was about to pay out 70 million dollars in bonuses to their employees and that the U.S. government was going to be leaving 7 billion dollars worth of military equipment behind in Afghanistan, it caused me to reflect on all of the other crazy ways that the government has been wasting our money in recent years.  So I decided to go back through my previous articles and put together a list.  I call it "The Waste List".

Even though our politicians insist that there is very little that can still be cut out of the budget, the truth is that the federal budget is absolutely drowning in pork.  The following are 66 crazy ways that the U.S. government is wasting your hard-earned money...

#1 The IRS is about to pay out 70 million dollars in bonuses to employees even though discretionary bonuses are supposed to be cancelled due to the sequester.

#2 According to the Washington Post, the U.S. government is going to leave 7 billion dollars worth of military equipment behind in Afghanistan.

#3 It is being projected that the trip that the Obamas will be making to Africa will cost U.S. taxpayers $100,000,000.

#4 The NIH plans to spend $509,840 on a study that "will send text messages in 'gay lingo' to methamphetamine addicts to try to persuade them to use fewer drugs and more condoms."

#5 The National Science Foundation has given $384,949 to Yale University to do a study on “Sexual Conflict, Social Behavior and the Evolution of Waterfowl Genitalia”.  Try not to laugh, but much of this research involves examining and measuring the reproductive organs of male ducks.

#6 The IRS spent $60,000 on a film parody of “Star Trek” and a film parody of “Gilligan’s Island”.  Internal Revenue Service employees were the actors in the two parodies, so as you can imagine the acting was really bad.

#7 The NIH has given $1.5 million to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts to study why “three-quarters” of lesbians in the United States are overweight and why most gay males are not.

#8 The NIH has also spent $2.7 million to study why lesbians have more “vulnerability to hazardous drinking”.

#9 The U.S. government is giving sixteen F-16s and 200 Abrams tanks to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt even though the new president of Egypt, Mohammed Morsi (a member of the Muslim Brotherhood), constantly makes statements such as the following

“Dear brothers, we must not forget to nurse our children and grandchildren on hatred towards those Zionists and Jews, and all those who support them”

#10 During 2012, the salaries of Barack Obama’s three climate change advisers combined came to a grand total of more than $370,000.

QOTD: "Looking back, the IRS scandal helps explain a lot of the things this administration has done. You all remember the President wagging his finger at the Supreme Court during his 2010 State of the Union address. Well, I assure you this little piece of presidential theater wasn’t done for the ratings. There was a good reason the President and his allies devoted so much time and energy to denouncing the Citizens United case. But it’s not the reason they gave.

I realize this may be shocking to some of the interns in the crowd. But the fact is, the Court’s decision was actually fairly unremarkable. All it really said was that, under the First Amendment, every corporation in America should be free to participate in the political process, not just the ones that own newspapers and TV stations. In other words, there shouldn’t be a carve-out when it comes to political speech for folks who own media companies. It was a good and fair decision aimed at leveling the playing field.

The real reason the Left was so concerned about Citizens United was that they thought it meant more conservatives would start to form what are known as social welfare organizations — something they’d been doing, with groups like Planned Parenthood and the Sierra Club, for years. And what’s notable about social welfare groups is they don’t have to disclose their donors. That was the main concern of the President and his allies. They weren’t interested in the integrity of the process. If they were, they’d have been just as upset at Left-wing groups for maintaining the privacy of their donors. What they really wanted was a hook that enabled them to stir up outrage about conservative groups, so they could get their hands on the names of the folks who supported them — and then go after them. Remember the Porsche 911 Targa? It's back. And this time it's pissed off.

Back in the day, the Porsche 911 Targa was the thinking man's compromise between convertible and hard top. Its modern successor is the 991.

To be fair, I spotted this headline over at BadBlue Car News. Bookmark it to keep up with the latest auto news.

THE BEARD: Built-in Sunscreen For a Man's Face

The science, as they say, is settled.

A study conducted at the University of Southern Queensland in Australia, published in the journal Radiation Protection Dosimetry, examined the effectiveness of facial hair in protecting against UV rays through dosimetry — the measurement and calculation of the absorbed amount of radiation using both direct and indirect exposure. Researchers used mannequins as the participants for the study — some had stick-on beards that ranged in one and a half to three and half inches in length and the rest were clean-shaven. The results of the study showed that beards can prevent skin cancer with an estimated 90 to 95 percent of protection against harmful UVs...

...Professor of radiation physics at the University of Southern Queensland and researcher of the study, Alfio Parisi, said beards are "...a reduction in the UV of 50 to 95 percent," reported Men's Journal. An ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) system is used for apparel; UPF rating of 15 is good, and 50+ provides the most extensive protection. Facial hair can have a UPF anywhere from two to 21, confirmed Parisi...

...Whether you opt to have a beard a la Ryan Gosling or go clean-shaven a la Leonardo DiCaprio, always remember to have in handy a sunscreen with sun protection factor (SPF) that can provide broad spectrum, or protection against both UVB and UVA rays, says the Food and Drug Administration...

And by "beard", I certainly do not mean the First Lady -- and I resent that implication.

BETSY McCAUGHEY: The Rubio-Schumer Amnesty Bill Will Be "the End of the Two Party System in America"

Interviewed last night on the Mark Levin Show, former New York Lt. Governor and current legislative expert Betsy McCaughey offered several startling insights into the catastrophic Rubio-Schumer Amnesty bill.

1. The word comprehensive is a synonym for unread.

2. Sec. 2106 of the bill outsources the job of guiding aliens through the amnesty process from DHS to Democrat front groups. These partisan, activist groups -- like La Raza and the SEIU -- are certain to utilize the aliens for their own (likely illegal) voter registration and absentee ballot schemes to benefit the progressive agenda.

McCaughey says that this particular section of the bill will "be the end of the two party system in America."

Funding for these groups comes from the American taxpayer. Worse yet, these left wing activitists effectively become a fifth branch of government, performing many of the roles that the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) perform today.

3. Sec. 2531 of the bill sets up a "Citizenship Foundation" run by another bunch of community organizers. This foundation will develop "citizenship preparation" programs to teach American history and civics. Suffice it to say that these new educational materials will teach the progressive agenda and dependence on government; not the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, private property rights and the beauty of the free market system.

4. A TV ad starring Marco Rubio insists that aliens with provisional status will have to support themselves. That's a lie: Sec. 245C(b) of the bill waives the "public charge" requirement for the unemployed, students, those in job training, those caring for a child, and anyone over 60. Which means no one will be required to support themselves and virtually every alien will be permitted to begin drawing tens of thousands of dollars each year in federal benefits.

5. Finally, many of the bill's key provisions are described as "emergency legislation". This is Congress' method for avoiding its own "Pay As You Go" law (which requires that mandatory spending programs are offset by reductions in other programs or tax increases). Amnesty is anything but an "emergency".

I'll put it simply, in terms even Johnny Boehner, Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, and Mitch McConnell can understand: anyone who supports this madness is a traitor to the American citizenry.

As Karl Denninger puts it -- and McCaughey confirms -- this bill will destroy America.

Contact your Senator now and demand that they kill this bill. Before it kills us.

GREAT NEWS: China's Fighters and Drones Bear Uncanny Resemblance to U.S. Fighters and Drones...

...in what must be just a startling coincidence and not a case of widespread espionage and theft.

China’s models of military planes at the Paris Air Show bear resemblance to U.S. aircraft, drawing attention to the rising concern in the Defense Department that the country is using cyber espionage to obtain sensitive defense technology.

The state-run Aviation Industry Corporation of China had a large exhibit of military and civilian models of aircraft at the show, held outside Paris at the historic Le Bourget airfield... The display included three fighters and a drone: a single-seat version of the FC-1, a single-engine fighter built for the Pakistani air force and designated JF-17; a dual-seat variant of the FC-1 in development; the dual-seat, twin-engine L-15 trainer; and an unmanned system called Wing Loong.

The fighters looked like the F-16 made by Lockheed Martin Corp. and the drone bore resemblance to the MQ-1 Predator made by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc., without the inverted tail. The Chinese drone is designed as a low-altitude craft that can fly up to 16,500 feet and loiter for 20 hours... Notably missing from the exhibit was any display of the J-20, China’s classified stealth-fighter program.

...Obama faced pressure to raise the [espionage] issue after the recent leak of a classified section of a Defense Department report showed that designs for the most advanced U.S. weapons have been compromised by suspected Chinese hackers. The list of weaponry includes the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the Littoral Combat Ship, and the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System, among others.

...the People’s Liberation Army, or PLA, considers the strategy of “information dominance” a critical form of defense against countries that it views as “information dependent,” such as the U.S.

Since the days of Bill Clinton, Red China has bribed, bought, and stolen their way into countless classified defense programs. The feckless Obama administration is just one in a long line of catastrophic national security failures certain to cost American servicemen and women their lives.

QOTD: "I find it repugnant to the system of government under which we are supposed to be operating. I find it even repugnant to Article 6 of the Constitution which makes it clear that there’s one kind of Constitutional Amendment that is never appropriate.

You can’t amend the Constitution to deny any state its equal representation in the Senate. And if at any moment we end up with a situation in which we have second-class Senators, Senators that may commit and propose for debate and discussion and a vote on an amendment, and if we have to go to the Majority Leader and say, ‘Mother, may I?’ then perhaps we have something. Perhaps we have lost the environment in which each of the states were supposed to receive equal representation.

It also seems to me to take on a certain character, a certain banana republic quality that we’re asked to vote on legislation--in many circumstances, just hours or even minutes after we have received it. We take on a certain rubber stamp quality when we do that. I remember a few months ago, in connection with the fiscal cliff debate, as we approached the fiscal cliff on New Year’s Eve, we were told by our respective leaders, "just wait, something’s coming. Go back to your offices, watch your televisions, play with your toys, do whatever it is that you do but be good senators, run along and stay out of trouble. We’re taking care of this. We’ll send you legislation as soon as we’re ready." --Sen. Mike Lee
