BUSINESS MODEL FAIL: Crackpot newspaper that published map of law-abiding gun owners lays off 17 including moonbat editor

Guest post by Rob Morse

I’ve nothing to add except this is wonderful news. A newspaper accessed the names and addresses of registered New York gun owners through a public records request. The paper then published a map of registered gun owners who live just north of New York City.

The editors and staff were shocked by the unfavorable public response. They received angry phone calls and even face to face criticism at their office. The home addresses of the newspaper employees were published online by another group. The managers of the paper hired armed guards for physical security. The newspaper staff were openly mocked in online videos. Advertisers in the newspaper received many critical comments and the paper’s advertising revenue fell. All this happened in a suburb within commuting distance of New York. I guess you don’t have to get far from Manhattan to loose the luster of liberalism.

Now 17 newspaper employees have been laid off. Among them was the editor who published the gun owner’s information. This is the first time I’ve seen online media clearly punish a bricks and mortar media firm. This is a good start, but don’t stop. I hope the paper is driven out of business.

Can we do the same to some other papers as well?

America’s UberGovernment. And the rest of us.

Guest post by Claire Wolfe

The last few days I’ve been doing physical labor, spending time in the sunshine, painting rooms — and thinking about America’s UberGovernment.

It’s dawning on a lot more people that a government run by secret spymasters is illegitimate even by the most conventional, mainstream standards. Among freedomistas, even those like the folks at DownsizeDC — who are usually pretty polite, mainstream, and hopeful of working within the system — are talking last straws.

Edward Snowden’s revelations of the NSA were a shock, though not a surprise. Now this week they’re followed by news of DEA operations that are top secret — but obviously, no doubt about it, are the result of collusion between the DEA and the NSA (“We’re only spying on you so we can keep you safe from brown-skinned furriners with scary religions, really!”). And these operations are resulting in arrest, asset forfeiture, and sometimes decades in prison for Americans.

And in another non-surprise, old-news revelation, Glenn Greenwald is now reporting that members of Congress — you know, those experts who were so diligently overseeing all those secret spy programs, bravely protecting our interests and Our Glorious Constituion — can’t even get information on the NSA or its bosom pal the FISA court no matter how much they rant or beg.

So yes. You’d have to be naive in the extreme to believe that a huge, secret level of government that answers to no one is a legitimate democratic-or-republican government. This country is now governed by an UberGoverment — Secrecy uber Alles.

Control uber Alles.

It’s also nothing new that Congress long ago lost authority over most of the unaccountable bureaucratic creatures it created, from the IRS to farm subsidy programs to ObamaPhones for the poor. The only thing that’s changed is that now Congress has lost power to a gigantic “security” apparatus that suspects and investigates everyone, makes war from the air on individuals (it still boggles my mind that more people aren’t boggled that drone warfare is conducted by the CIA and not the Pentagon), has U.S. citizens arrested and assassinated, and is accountable to absolutely no “of the people” authority whatsoever.

You know what this is. I know what this is.

INFOGRAPHIC: The Ugly Truth About Obamacare

Guest post by Kelsey Harris

Obamacare: It’s unfair, unaffordable, and unworkable.

So it’s no surprise that Organizing for Action, President Obama’s campaign group, is aggressively posting on all of its media outlets to try to hide the truth about Obamacare.

Just last week, the group blasted out emails and tweets to activists encouraging them to “see how Obamacare is already working.”

But Organizing for Action is wrong. Obamacare isn’t working, and it won’t ever work. That’s why we’re challenging every claim Obamacare supporters make—and you should, too. Congress should refuse to spend a single dime implementing this massive train wreck.

Check out the infographic below and learn how Obamacare is not working.

WHITE HOUSE PETITION: Grant All of the American People an ObamaCare Exemption

Guest post by The People's Cube

The best petition ever - short and sweet (started by a friend of ours in California).

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:

Grant American People ObamaCare Exemption

We, the American people, kindly ask the President of The United States to grant us the same exemptions to the Affordable Care Act that were granted to Members of Congress and congressional staff by the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on August 7, 2013.

The Constitution's Fourteenth Amendment grants us all, including Congress, equal protection under the law. We all expect to be treated equally and have the same options and responsibilities as anyone whether they work for a Federal agency or not.

THE REAL BENGHAZI SCANDAL: Obama consigliere Valerie Jarrett reportedly ordered military to stand down

Guest post by Investor's Business Daily

Scandal: The omnipresent power behind the throne some have called the president's Rasputin had the power to call off three strikes against Osama bin Laden. She may have used that power again the night four Americans died in Benghazi.

The Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack on our diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, came while America failed to mount a rescue mission despite sufficient time and assets. Included in that disaster were the unaccounted whereabouts of President Obama during eight critical hours, the lack of Situation Room photos, the failure by the president to follow up with subordinates before his trip to Las Vegas and the fabricated story that the whole thing was prompted by an Internet video.

Columnist Charles Krauthammer said recently on "The O'Reilly Factor" that the "biggest scandal of all" regarding that Benghazi slaughter has yet to emerge.

"I think there is a bigger story here ... that will in time come out," Krauthammer said. "The biggest scandal of all, the biggest question is: What was the president doing in those eight hours?"

The columnist noted: "He had a routine meeting at 5 o'clock. He never after, during the eight hours when our guys have their lives in danger, he never called the secretary of defense, he never calls the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, he never calls the CIA director."

One of the people Obama always talks to is Valerie Jarrett. She emerged from the same Chicago cauldron of radicalism where Obama got his ideological baptism.

Terry McAuliffe Finally Brings Some Jobs to Virginia!

The Democrat candidate for governor in Virginia is a bizarre little man named "Crazy" Terry McAuliffe. McAuliffe's background is especially troubling, given his incessant efforts to turn Virginia into a forced unionization state.

But more recent revelations regarding McAuliffe's disastrous "green energy" company are even more troubling. And all of us regular Americans -- taxpayers, not you irregular Americans -- are paying for his actions.

...McAuliffe and three top GreenTech advisers met with the key White House aide responsible for helping bankrupt solar-panel maker Solyndra win federal loans and high-profile presidential support, a Watchdog investigation has revealed... the confab came seven months after a stock transfer made McAuliffe a GreenTech minority owner and company chairman.

...GreenTech’s Solyndra connection won’t surprise Kimberley A. Strassel. Back in April, the Wall Street Journal columnist wrote, “GreenTech is the latest proof (after Solyndra, Fisker, A123 and others) that the political class is adept at hooking up cronies and investors with taxpayer dollars. But creating jobs? No can do.”

Documents released last week reveal that that Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating GreenTech’s sister company Gulf Coast Funds, stating that there’s “possible fraud” in the firm’s pursuit of EB-5 investors, primarily those in China. GreenTech is behind schedule in rolling out thousands of electric vehicles while as many as 81 foreign nationals who invested at least $500,000 each are awaiting visas...

Virginians, if you want more Solyndras, more forced unionization, and more legalized theft of your private property, then by all means: vote for Terry McAuliffe. On the other hand, if you want to support a real Constitutional Conservative, then lend your support to Ken Cuccinelli.

President Obama Orders 22 U.S. Embassies Closed Over Fears of Widespread Workplace Violence

Al Qaeda, as the theme song of the Democrat National Convention goes, is on the run.

Indeed, worldwide terrorist groups are quite literally on the run, including a recent and explosive entry in the Boston Marathon. All over the world, radical Jihadists have grown sufficiently emboldened to convene a global conference call, patching in at least 20 terror leaders for what must have been a jolly recounting of the Obama administration's policy of weakness, appeasement and preemptive surrender.

The crucial intercept that prompted the U.S. government to close embassies in 22 countries was a conference call between al Qaeda’s senior leaders and representatives of several of the group’s affiliates throughout the region...

...included [on the call were] the leaders or representatives of the top leadership of al Qaeda and its affiliates calling in from different locations, according to three U.S. officials familiar with the intelligence. All told, said one U.S. intelligence official, more than 20 al Qaeda operatives were on the call...

...Al Qaeda members included representatives or leaders from [Yemen,] Nigeria’s Boko Haram, the Pakistani Taliban, al Qaeda in Iraq, al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, and more obscure al Qaeda affiliates such as the Uzbekistan branch. Also on the call were representatives of aspiring al Qaeda affiliates such as al Qaeda in the Sinai Peninsula...

Let me put this in terms even a Democrat can understand: the Obama administration's policies of willful blindness and Jihadi appeasement have resulted in a global, de facto surrender to radical Islam.

Obama's failures are represented perfectly in the case of former U.S. Army Major Nidal Hasan. This piece of pig excrement is on trial in Killeen, Texas this week on charges of "workplace violence" after he killed or wounded 43 individuals at a Texas Army base.

[Hasan] said he was as a soldier who switched sides in what he described as a war between America and his Islamic faith. He then fell silent for most of the day... Maj. Hasan had also asked to argue that he carried out the shooting in "defense of others," namely members of the Taliban fighting in Afghanistan, but the judge denied that strategy.

In an utterly disgraceful act on the part of the Obama administration, Hasan's rampage has not been categorized as an act of terrorism though that is clearly what it was. Sara Noble explains that the Holder Justice Department has instead labeled Hasan's slaughter as "workplace violence".

Nadal Hassan... began his opening statement at his trial Tuesday saying, “The evidence will clearly show that I am the shooter... We mujahedeen are imperfect soldiers trying to form a perfect religion. I apologize for any mistakes I made in this endeavor,” the unrepentant Hasan said...

...The act of terror by Hasan, who was in contact with now-deceased terrorist Anwar al-Awalaki, was declared an incident of workplace violence though it was obviously a terrorist attack...

...The victims are and were not eligible for the Purple Heart as a result.

As Noble observes, the Ft. Hood attack was categorized as "workplace violence" because he faced reelection and needed to pretend that Al Qaeda was "on the run". Just like Benghazi. Just like Benghazi.

QOTD: "The Arab Spring represented political chaos in a lawless society, not social change or cultural enlightenment. Pundits and columnists fell to scribbling nonsense about the transformation of the region because they didn't understand that simple fact. They made the same mistake that Americans have been making with democracy promotion all along. Culture and society don't follow political systems. It's the other way around. Politics grows out of a culture and a society. Even tyranny. Or perhaps, especially tyranny.

Whoever runs Egypt will still leave it a corrupt place where family connections matter more than merit, where the poor struggle to get by, where everyone resents everyone else, where political alliances fall apart in the blink of an eye and everyone waits around for a tyrant to take matters into his hands and usher in some stability." --Daniel Greenfield

The Desperate Last Gasp Gamble of the Central Bankers

Guest post by Jim Quinn

In Part 1 of this article I detailed the insane solutions proposed and executed since 2008 by our owners as they attempt to retain and further expand their ill-gotten wealth, acquired through fraud, deceit, swindles, and the brilliant manipulation and exploitation of the masses through Bernaysian propaganda techniques. Madness has engulfed the entire world, with a concentration of power in the hands of a few psychopathic financial elite wielding an inordinate and dangerous expanse of power over the lives of the common man. They are a modern day version of Al Capone, except their weapons of choice aren’t machine guns, but a printing press, peddling debt, creating derivatives of mass destruction, and peddling heaping doses of disinformation. The contemporary criminal class wears Hermes suits, Rolex watches and diamond studded pinky rings, drops $500 to dine at Masa in NYC, travels by chauffeured limo, lives in $10 million NYC penthouse suites, occupies luxurious corner offices in hundred story glass towers, and spends weekends hobnobbing with the other financial elite at their villas in the Hamptons. They have nothing but utter contempt for the lowly peasants who depend upon a weekly paycheck to make ends meet. Why work when you can steal $1 or $2 billion from farmers with no consequences?

The willfully ignorant masses are kept at bay by the selling them a false dichotomy of Republicans versus Democrats, conservatives versus liberals, and capitalism versus socialism. The ruling class distracts the public with fake wars on poverty, drugs and terror, while using these storylines to further enrich themselves and keep the public alarmed and frightened.

We’ve been “fighting” the wars on poverty and drugs for over four decades and poverty is at record levels, while drugs are easier to obtain than candy in a candy store. The war on terror is nothing more than a corporate arms dealer welfare plan. The end of the Cold War put a real crimp in the bottom lines of Lockheed Martin and the rest of the peddlers of death. 9/11 and the subsequent undeclared wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and now Syria, with Iran on the horizon, have been a godsend to the bottom lines of the corporations Eisenhower warned about in 1961.

In reality, the politicians are interchangeable and bought off by corporate and special interests. The people are sold a fable, and controlled opposition is the fairy tale. They perpetuate the welfare/warfare state that enriches Wall Street, the military industrial complex, the healthcare service complex, politically connected mega-corporations and the corporate media propaganda complex. The American people are given the illusion of choice by their keepers. The system is rigged.

Detroit-like Collapse Closing in on Chicago due to Math and a Shortage of Pink Ponies, But Mostly Math

"Math always trumps politics."

I can't remember who said it, but we see evidence of the ironclad truth of that statement as we review the history of humankind on Earth. Unsustainable borrowing is, of course, a doomed proposition. And whether we examine current examples like Detroit, the last century's models, or even hundreds of years of experience (PDF), we find no example -- not one -- that monstrous levels of sovereign debt can lead to anything but economic collapse.

But enough about Paul Krugman. Let's review The New York Times' latest stunned prose regarding a Democrat-controlled government's imminent collapse ("unexpectedly", of course).

Chicago Sees Pension Crisis Drawing Near

...a crushing problem lurks beneath the signs of economic recovery in Chicago: one of the most poorly funded pension systems among the nation’s major cities. Its plight threatens to upend the finances of President Obama’s hometown, now run by his former chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel...

...The pension fund for retired Chicago teachers stands at risk of collapse. The city’s four funds for other retired city workers are short by $19.5 billion. At least one of the funds is in peril of running out of money in less than a decade. And starting in 2015, the city will be required by the state to make far larger contributions to the funds, which could leave it hundreds of millions of dollars in the red — as much as it would cost to pay 4,300 police officers to patrol the streets for a year...

...And last month, Moody’s Investors Service downgraded Chicago’s rating by an unexpected three notches as part of a broad reassessment of how pensions are affecting the financial strength of cities. That “super downgrade,” in the parlance of the bond market, left Chicago, the nation’s third-largest city, with a lower rating than 90 percent of Moody’s public finance ratings...

...Illinois, which has the most underfunded state pension system in the nation, controls Chicago’s benefit and funding levels [and in] Springfield, which, like Chicago, is controlled by Democrats, leaders have clashed over how best to cut costs of the plans — a notion that pits the lawmakers against labor unions, which have traditionally been allies...

...The city’s general budget fund faces a potential shortfall of $339 million in 2014, but city officials say that gap is lower than initially expected and manageable ... Circumstances grow far more complicated a year later, when state law will require Chicago to pay significantly more — $1 billion a year — into the city’s pension funds, to make up for years of underpayments. Even sooner, the Chicago Public Schools, which draws from the same tax base, is required to find an extra $338 million for its pension fund, and more every year after that.

In other words, fasten your seat belt, we're in for a bumpy ride.

Ironically, the twisted troll known as Paul "Enron" Krugman has a featured article linked nearby headed "Republicans Against Reality". In it, he blames GOP budget hawks for their unwillingness to compromise with the greatest creators of government debt in world history -- the Democrats and, specifically, the 110th Congress. Remember, because of Democrats' failure to pass a budget since Obama took office, the original $840 billion one-time, emergency "Stimulus" has been built into the baseline budget every year since.

And as we watch Krugman's collectivist Utopias of Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Italy fall; as we watch the poisonous alliance of Democrats and public sector unions literally destroy cities like Detroit and Chicago; and as we wait for entire blue states like California and Illinois to follow; meanwhile, the real enemies of reality like Paul Krugman will be blaming Bush, Reagan, or James Monroe for the inevitable, miserable results of their deranged philosophy.

Helpful Chart Illustrates the Detroit-ification of America

The national treasure known as the Heritage Foundation posts this helpful infographic contrasting the plight of Detroit with that of the United States (via Katie Pavlich):

Unlike Detroit, the Federal Reserve has the option of printing its own currency whenever it needs it. This takes the form of "monetization of the debt", financial repression, and other measures that generally mark the precursors to a financial collapse.

In plainer terms, the average American family of four is on the hook for about $800,000 in payments to others. We refer to this madness as "redistributing wealth", the Cloward-Piven Strategy, or simply Obamanomics.

Anyone who thinks this is sustainable, please raise your hand.

Put your hand down, Krugman, you schmuck.

BOMBSHELL REPORT: Valerie Jarrett Gave the Orders on 9/11/2012 and Blocked Rescue in Benghazi

And such a report is entirely believable, given that Jarrett nixed the raid on Bin Laden three separate times. Chip Jones of The Conservative Report writes:

Valerie Jarrett, Commander in Chief

Confidential sources close to Conservative Report have confirmed that Valerie Jarrett was the key decision-maker for the administration, the night of the Benghazi terrorist attack on 9/11/2012.

The chronology of the evening of 9/11 are as follows:

At approximately 5 PM Washington time, reports came in through secure-channels that Special Mission Benghazi was under attack. Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey summoned the President, and briefed him on the crisis, face to face.

Subsequent to that brief meeting, President Obama proceeded to the White House to dine in his living quarters.

After supper, Barack Obama had a telephone conference scheduled with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu...  As that meeting drew to a close, Ms. Jarrett, who is also the Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, went from the living quarters to the White House Situation Room, where the attack in Benghazi was being monitored by Dempsey, Panetta and other top-ranking officials.

Whether she was instructed by the President to go there, or if she went of her own volition, is only known by the President and herself.

A critical question that needed to be answered, and the sole military-order that could have launched offensive-actions, neutralizing the Ansar al Sharia terrorists attacks on the Mission (the purpose of which are detailed here) and its subsequent attacks on the adjacent CIA Annex, was the issuance of “Cross Border Authority”, an order that can only be issued by the Commander in Chief himself.

The Tea Party vs The Surrender Caucus

Guest Post by Aaron Goldenberg

Championing an effort that is long overdue, Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) are leading a fight to put teeth into the cause of dismantling Obamacare. An effort that is ostensibly backed by every GOP member of Congress given the thirty odd votes the House of Representatives has taken to repeal Obamacare, Senators Cruz and Lee are exerting the only leverage available to Members of Congress, especially those whose party holds the majority in only one House of Congress: the power of the purse.

What is striking is the resistance Senators Cruz and Lee have received, not from Democrats, but from Republicans. Self-described budget hawk Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) declared the campaign to defund Obamacare to be “dishonest” and “hype”. Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) called the effort “silly” and lacking “courage”. Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) likened the effort to defund Obamacare to a “temper tantrum” and Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) suggested that such an effort was the “dumbest idea I’ve ever heard.”

Sen. Burr’s comment is truly ironic because his spokesman reminds journalists of the several stand-alone bills the Senator has co-sponsored seeking to repeal Obamacare, bills that have never and will never receive a vote in a Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate. Senate Minority Whip and former National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (R-TX) was an original signatory to Sen. Lee’s letter pledging not to vote for a spending bill that continues to fund Obamacare. However, Sen. Cornyn has since removed his name from the letter despite claiming to support the full repeal of Obamacare on his campaign re-election website and hiring a grassroots Tea Party activist to run his re-election campaign.

Politico's Julius Streicher whitewashes epic failure of OFA brown-shirts' pro-Obamacare rallies

Mark this story as reason #4,602 that John Boehner is a complete sellout. There is no support for Obamacare. None. Not in government. Not among unions. Not among anyone with more than two neurons to rub together. And not among the OFA brown-shirts that organized hysterically failed pro-Obamacare rallies nationwide yesterday.

At the invaluable NewsBusters site, Noel Sheppard documents the modern-day Leni Riefenstahls at work:

Sheppard attributes the change to some editor at Politico. But my guess is Valerie Jarrett or one of her henchmen threatened the WaPo for Wash-Outs with any number of punishments.

The media is running so scared now that they won't even report on their own scoops (e.g., the latest shocking Benghazi revelations which were somehow ignored at today's press conference).

As Mediaite's Noah Rothman reports, "Journalists Worry Covering The [Benghazi] Attack Threatens White House Access."

In other words: fascism, just like every other Banana Republic.
