REMINDER FOR THE NEXT ELECTION: The Media Lies, Flashback to 1980 Edition
So let's venture back to March 23, 1980, where New York Times columnist E.J. Dionne demonstrated his uncanny ability to get every single aspect of the story wrong. It's a knack he continues to exercise even today.
The reason I bring this up: imagine that a truly popular conservative candidate like Ted Cruz, Mike Lee or Rand Paul is able to secure the GOP nomination.
Expect the same kind of ridiculous lies and predictions coming from the establishment, be it The New York Times or NBC News.
THE WAGES OF OPEN BORDERS: Experts say Colorado pot shops will be targeted by Mexican drug cartels
Taking over a trade once ruled by drug cartels and turning it into an all-cash business could make pot shops prime targets for extortion, black-market competition and robbery. One veteran border narcotics agent told FoxNews.com Colorado's legal pot industry will find it hard to keep the criminals from horning in on a lucrative business they once controlled.
"Mexico is already in Colorado without the risks," the agent, who requested anonymity, said of the state's heavy pre-existing cartel presence. "Legal businesses will likely see a rise in extortion attempts while law enforcement will see a lot of backdoor deals being made."
"What is quite possible is that cartels will hire straw owners who have clean records who can apply for a license, then sell large quantities both legally and on the black market."Cartels, especially the Juarez and Sinaloa, who have a strong presence in Colorado, could not have been happy with the estimated $1 million in sales Jan. 1, the first day of legalized retail sales. In 2012 the Mexican Competitiveness Institute issued a report saying that Mexico’s cartels would lose as much as $1.425 billion if Colorado legalized marijuana. The organization also predicted that drug trafficking revenues would fall 20 to 30 percent, and the Sinaloa cartel, which would be the most affected, would lose up to 50 percent.
- Denver DEA office spokesman Albert Villasuso
Faced with such losses, the violent cartels could force their way in as black market wholesalers or simply rob pot dispensaries, which take only cash and have not been able to establish accounts with banks because of lenders' fears of violating federal laws. But the general consensus is that the Mexican cartels will not quietly relinquish the Denver market.
...even if legal stores do face extortion efforts by cartel groups it is unlikely law enforcement will even be made aware of it if merchants are too frightened to come to police. Extortion has proven to be a lucrative ancillary enterprise for cartels in Mexico resulting in thousands of businesses closing rather than pay the quota, as it is called, or the store owners face the threat of death, which too has occurred.
But by all means, let's grant amnesty to millions of illegals who've not had even a cursory background check, are defrauding our welfare, tax and medical systems to the tune of billions of dollars each year, and whose allegiances are completely unknown.

QOTD: "The challenge of conservative governance in this era of the right’s muddled grappling with their ongoing philosophical disagreement will continue to create tensions between a faction that believes conservatism means doing the business of compassion more efficiently in pursuit of a vaguely defined public good, and one which believes it’s more important to restrain the warping effects of government and return the government to the role it occupied for most of American history, before LBJ set us on the path toward an unsustainable entitlement state… which was, if you think about it, entirely justified at the time if you adopted Gerson’s approach.
Here’s a hint: If your approach to conservative governance would justify the Great Society, it’s usually a sign you took a wrong turn somewhere. Maybe because the lights were all green." --Ben Domenech

POLITICAL SUICIDE: Bend Over! GOP Prepares to Perform Amnesty Colonoscopy on Conservative Base
In January 2012, the “Immigration Reform” page on the official House website of Representative Bob Goodlatte, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said: “In no event should we grant amnesty to those who have broken our laws and entered the country illegally. Doing so would simply invite more illegal immigration in the future.”
...Now, though, this prohibition has been scrubbed from his “Immigration Reform” page. Instead, this page now talks about how “we can all agree that our nation’s immigration system is broken” and the need to be thoughtful in remaking U.S. immigration policies. Earlier versions of this page had an almost single-minded focus on the need to enforce immigration laws. The notion that our immigration system is “broken” is often a key argument of allies of the White House’s immigration agenda.
According to Politico, Chairman Goodlatte said in a Telemundo interview that is set to air on Sunday that he is very open to legalizing current illegal immigrants...
...Representative Goodlatte’s Telemundo comments come at a time when some in House leadership are trying to revive the fortunes of a big immigration deal or series of deals — on Friday morning on the House floor, Majority Leader Eric Cantor argued that “immigration reform could be an economic boon to this country.”
The insanity of this effort on the part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and GOP Congressional leaders cannot be overstated.
Point 1: In the midst of a horrific, ongoing, five-year long unemployment crisis, the importation of millions of low-skilled, largely illiterate, non-English-speaking aliens will crush the wages of blue-collar American citizens.
Point 2: On the heels of the unfolding Obamacare catastrophe -- with millions of Americans already having lost their health insurance and up to 120 million more poised to lose their insurance next year -- Republicans intend to hand Obama and the entire Democrat Party a huge legislative victory.
Point 3: Such an act would also represent a slap in the face to the vast majority of American people -- and especially the conservative Republican base -- who oppose Amnesty. Republicans would pay a horrific price for such traitorous behavior in the 2014 Midterms.
Point 4: Legalization is certain to result in eventual citizenship for these illegals (as confirmed by Democrat Rep. Luis Gutierrez) and would prove devastating for the GOP in the years to come. Pew Research reports that 88 percent of illegals would vote Democrat if given the chance. And they will be given that chance, if they are legalized.
This is political suicide for the Republican Party. In their zeal for corporate donations, they are abandoning the base and handing the opposition a tremendous political victory.
Should this come to pass, let the record show that John Boehner, Eric Cantor and Mitch McConnell were the architects of the destruction of the Republican Party.

DISGUSTING AND DEPRAVED: Obama Appoints Convicted Cop Killer's Advocate to Department of "Justice"
Justice: The nominee to head the Department of Justice's civil rights division is a radical lawyer who fought to free from prison a cold-blooded killer of a Philadelphia cop.
On Dec. 9, 1981, Officer Danny Faulkner, 12 days from his 26th birthday, observed a car going the wrong way down a one-way street without its lights on.He pulled over the vehicle, and the driver, one William Cook, got out of the car and began wrestling with Faulkner.
Moments later, Mumia Abu-Jamal, Cook's brother (aka Wesley Cook), showed up at the scene with a .38-caliber handgun and opened fire, hitting Faulkner, eyewitnesses said, in the back.
Faulkner returned fire, wounding his assailant, who got off several more shots, including the one that hit Faulkner in the face at point-blank range, killing him.
Police found Faulkner fatally wounded and Abu-Jamal with a bullet wound in his chest and his .38-caliber handgun and five spent shell casings. Four eyewitnesses testified at his trial. A jury sentenced him to death.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court upheld his conviction in 1995, and in 1998 it refused to grant his request for a new trial. In 1999 the U.S. Supreme Court declined to review Abu-Jamal's appeal.
In December 2001, a federal judge overturned his death sentence but upheld his conviction. The U.S. Supreme Court rejected a second appeal in 2010.
The bullet in Abu-Jamal came from Faulkner's gun. The bullets in Faulkner came from Abu-Jamal's weapon, and the question of Abu-Jamal's guilt has never been a close call.
In a post on the Ventura County Star website, Faulkner's widow, Maureen, remembered Abu-Jamal, who, "when taken to a hospital after he slaughtered my husband, to remove a bullet shot in self-defense from my husband's gun, said in front of two witnesses, 'I shot the (blank), and I hope the (blank) dies.'"
His brother, William, has never testified to his brother's innocence though he was at the scene of the crime. Abu-Jamal himself chose not to testify in his own defense.
Nonetheless, Abu-Jamal soon became a poster child for Democrats and the liberal left as a symbol of the racial bias of the criminal justice system and of the death penalty.

These groups have no interest in supporting limited government and free markets. They support their government and their markets with your tax dollars.
The GOP in Washington has decided that the problem is not government, but Democrats in charge of government. And they’ve decided to punish any conservative who points out government itself is the problem. Conservative groups are attacked by Republican leaders. Conservative candidates are attacked by Republican leaders. Conservative talk radio hosts are attacked by Republican leaders.
The single biggest thing you can do to clean up the GOP is to defeat Mitch McConnell in Kentucky by supporting Matt Bevin. The NRSC attacks all came after the Senate Conservatives Fund decided to support Bevin. The attacks on Mark Levin came after he spoke kindly of Matt Bevin. The attacks on conservative candidates came after Matt Bevin became a credible candidate.
All these attacks came because Mitch McConnell would rather rule in Hell than serve in Heaven. He would rather a Senate GOP minority with himself in charge than a Senate GOP majority with himself retired.

Introducing the New People’s National Democrat Party™
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio’s inauguration last week was more than one man swearing an oath of office. It was the official declaration of a new Democrat Party. We have been told repeatedly that the Republicans are undergoing a massive re-branding effort but it’s been by no means as dramatic as the emergency re-branding efforts going on under the Democrat tent. De Blasio has effectively become the leader and national voice of the new direction of a party who has been flirting with this ideology for years now. They no longer fear the societal and American stigmatisim associated with socialist agendas. Because of one mayor’s election they now feel emboldened to inflict and unleash it.
Barack Obama and the DNC, with the help of their usual cohorts in the media are in the midst of attempting a magic trick. They are going to attempt to convince people that because of this President’s pro growth policies, the economy is finally stabilized enough to the point of increasing the federal minimum wage, while simultaneously making the argument that we need to extend government entitlements (Unemployment Insurance) for those unable to find a job. Breaking from usual tactics, they also aren’t being shy about this new strategy and their admitted stated goal is to paint the GOP as the party of inequality, economic disparity and the wealthy. There is inequality. There is disparity.
No one is disputing this.
The only problem for the New People’s National Democrat Party™ is they have been the ones in charge of this inequality and disparity for going on 7 years now.
The burning questions for this President, who just two weeks ago touted the economic success of his policies is this; If the economy is growing as it should be and the corner has been turned on the 5.4% unemployment rate hell of the George W. Bush years, why can’t anyone find a job? Why is income inequality growing? Why are the rich getting richer?
Why do we as a country need to perpetually renew unemployment insurance benefits beyond the rate of 99 weeks for families struggling if there are jobs readily available as his administration is claiming?
Obama two weeks ago said the American economy is poised to break through, just as it has been for the past 5 years. We are inundated with graph after graph showing the massive turn around from the brink of economic destruction Obama brought us all back from. On Jake Tapper’s The Lead , just yesterday, Labor Secretary Thomas Perez said ”People are suffering because I have met them. They have gone to emergency situations”. This administration is readily admitting that we are in the depths of emergency unemployment situations. Direct quote.
The natural response from anyone being told to “Get a job” is “I’ve been trying” or “There are no jobs” .. Either our economy is growing or it isn’t..
Which is it?
The country cannot be both in such an amazing recovery that raising the minimum wage to $10.00 becomes completely logical while at the same time in such despair that unemployment benefits need to be made all but permanent to offset growing income inequality. If the Democrat party has decided to go full Warren & head over heals for de Blasio, it is only because it’s an admission that Barack Obama’s economic policies have failed and that it’s nothing more than a distraction from the fact that Barack Obama’s healthcare law has failed. This is the Democrat Party’s corporatization of Occupy Wall St.’s message with a media trying desperately to wring every last drop out of it. They have given up trying to promote liberty and prosperity and are settling into exploiting fear and entitlement. It’s a dangerous strategy right out of a comic book super villain’s handbook and one that must be understood and exposed. Their goal is no longer to lift people out of poverty but to willfully keep them dependent and therefore voting for them, all the way through the 2014 midterms. In three months when this new expansion fails, Harry Reid, Barack Obama and now Hillary Clinton will all argue for another 3 month expansion. Then another, and another.
The question for the GOP is are they going to put an end to this?
If the Democrat’s entire message becomes inequality, then inequality is needed for it to become successful. Financial and economic stability through gainful employment is no longer the goal. This is precisely the reason for Democrats pushing a minimum wage hike while simultaneously pushing more benefits of people not even in the workforce.Make it harder for private employers to hire people who already have a steady stream of income thanks to unemployment. Expert Presidential Debate Moderator Candy Crowley tried this exact strategy with Governor Scott Walker just last week and in doing so gave the entire game up for the progressive Democrat’s new talking point. Government dependency as a lifestyle and not as a stop gap. This is a dangerous trap being sprung on the GOP (and the country) but one that is easily avoidable if they would only push back against it. The messaging cannot and should not be about cutting unemployment benefits. The messaging should be why Democrats are pushing permanent unemployment to begin with. They are literally trying to tell the country that an economy based on individual employment can function and thrive on people being unemployed.

QOTD: "While many on the Left point to the labor market's weakness as justification for reinstating extended unemployment benefits, a simpler conclusion is that the economic recovery policies since 2008 have failed. In fact, even the White House recognizes that extended unemployment benefits will raise unemployment. The research the White House cites to advocate for 73 weeks of benefits implies that this will result on average in nearly 5 more weeks of unemployment per person in some states.
Congress should recognize the inherent ineffectiveness of trying to help people find work through a program that has evolved into a poorly operating welfare program, one that does little to help unemployed workers acquire new skills or relocate, and that has failed to deliver demonstrable results." --Alex Brill
