THE SISTER OF BRIAN TERRY SPEAKS OUT: Eric Holder's Resignation is No Accident

By Investor's Business Daily

Scandal: The attorney general who oversaw the administration's Fast and Furious gun-walking operation into Mexico resigns right after a federal court denies a DOJ request to delay releasing Fast And Furious documents.

Eric Holder's resignation as attorney general, like anything that occurs in the Obama administration, raises questions of timing.

Pundits ask why now, with some suggesting President Obama is getting a two-fer — ginning up his base with tributes to the first African-American AG before the midterms while starting the nomination and confirmation process before a possible Republican takeover of the Senate in November.

Rush Limbaugh has even suggested that Obama, who in an effort to hold the Senate has reminded Democratic voters that he still gets to appoint Supreme Court justices, might be making Holder available for such an appointment should a vacancy occur.

Both may be true, but Kelly Terry-Willis, the sister of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, thinks a recent court defeat for the Department of Justice may be the real reason.

Her brother was murdered on Dec. 14, 2010, with weapons "walked" into Mexico under Fast and Furious. ICE Special Agent Jaime Zapata was also a Fast and Furious casualty.

How CNN hypes a "proper" home invasion reaction

Alan Duke -- if that is his real name -- proffers the ludicrous CNN line for repelling a home invasion.

When Melora Rivera heard an intruder kicking the front door of her Venice, California, home Wednesday morning, her reaction was to jump out of bed and onto her roof.

"Once I saw him in the house, I knew that we both couldn't be there," Rivera told CNN TV affiliate KCAL/KCBS. "I knew that I didn't want to have a confrontation with him of any sort, you know, not knowing what his intention was."

Rivera, dressed only in a flannel shirt, used her cell phone to call police as the intruder also climbed onto the roof... "The drop is, I would guess, more than 20 feet," Rivera said. "So there was no safely jumping off the roof or coming down from the roof at that point."

A more rational home defense system would involve one (or preferably all) of the following.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ELEANOR CLIFT: She Just Won MRC's Prestigious Media Lie o' the Year Award!

The Media Research Center held its annual awards gala -- the 2014 Dishonors Award for media bias -- and one particularly pungent pundit took home the grand prize.

A raucous crowd of conservatives attending the Media Research Center's 2014 Gala featuring the DisHonors Awards on Thursday evening selected none other than liberal columnist and shameless Obama/Clinton sycophant Eleanor Clift as the recipient of the Quote of the Year for her insistence that Amb. Chris Stevens was not murdered by terrorists because he died, reportedly, of smoke inhalation...

She beat out current and former MSNBCers Krystal Ball and Martin Bashir, respectively.

Who Forced Eric Holder Out?

By Judicial Watch

On Thursday, September 25, Eric Holder announced that he would step down as Attorney General of the United States. If you are a regular reader of the Weekly Update, you know that since the day he was appointed to office, Judicial Watch has battled day in and day out to prevent Holder from continuing to corrupt the Department of Justice (DOJ). And, in fact, in January of this year, we named him to the Judicial Watch list of the “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for the sixth year in a row. Many quickly credited Judicial Watch’s work with helping to force Holder out. Former DOJ attorney Sidney Powell was blunt in her New York Observer column about Holder’s disastrous tenure:

He has made the Department of Obstructing Justice notorious. Federal judges are stepping in to end his stone walling of Congressional and other investigations on several fronts, and now he’s on the run.

Why now? What is about to blow up?

QOTD: "...the government argues that it must devote significant numbers of attorneys to this matter if it hopes to comply with the current Vaughn index deadline … But the Department has known about its Vaughn index obligations since July 18, 2014 … At best, it means the Department has been slow to react to this Court’s previous Order. At worst, it means the Department has ignored that Order until now.

...[S]eventy-five days—plus another twenty-one, based in part on Judicial Watch’s consent—is enough time for the government to prepare the index that this Court has ordered, given that this matter has been pending for over two years. GENIUS: Obama Goes to War in Syria with the Very Same Weapons Systems He Canceled

By Investor's Business Daily

National Defense: The president launches attacks on the Islamic State with two weapons systems that were targeted for elimination by the administration years before their usefulness ended or any replacements were ready.

With the decision to launch air and missile strikes against Islamic State targets in Syria, in addition to ongoing strikes in Iraq in what is said to be the start of a long and sustained campaign to "degrade and destroy" the terrorist group, President Obama has stumbled upon a revelation:

The military whose budgets he's slashed and weapons systems he opposed is suddenly quite useful.

DECODING THE ADMINISTRATION'S LIES: "Khorosan" is Al Qaeda and it is most definitely not "on the run"

By Sara Noble

Obama’s approach to foreign policy is the stuff of fiction. He likes to say Al Qaeda has been destroyed and all that’s left are the metastasized rogue bands of terrorists acting independently of Al Qaeda Central. One band in particular is the Khorasan group.

Khorasan IS Al Qaeda.

It’s been referred to as the old boys’ club. It is that.

It is comprised of the Osama bin Laden followers from the 1990’s. They are not an affiliate, or an offshoot, or a franchise. They ARE al Qaeda and they follow the leadership of al-Zawahiri, Osama’s successor.

They have been dangerous since 2009 and they have been unremittingly dangerous. They were responsible for the underwear bomber, the Christmas Day bomber and many other bombings.

They didn’t become dangerous yesterday, last month or even last year. They’ve been dangerous since Barack Obama became president and they have been dangerous the entire time Obama said al Qaeda was on the run.

Eric Holder's Resignation Comes on the Heels of a Devastating Ruling Against Him on "Operation Fast and Furious"

By Tom Fitton

It is no coincidence that Holder’s resignation comes on the heels of another court ruling that the Justice Department must finally cough up information about how Holder’s Justice Department lied to Congress and the American people about the Operation Fast and Furious scandal, for which Eric Holder was held in contempt by the House of Representatives. Over the past several months, Judicial Watch also exposed how Holder’s Justice Department was implicated in the IRS scandal and how Justice Department lawyers helped defend the illegal stonewall that kept secret key material related to Benghazi.

The disgraced Holder’s exit is past due accountability for Holder’s Fast and Furious lies, and I hope it brings some solace to the family of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and the hundreds of innocent Mexicans likely killed thanks to the Holder Justice Department’s scheme that armed the murderous Mexican drug cartels.

QOTD: "Then came the 2014 Republican primary season and a scorched earth campaign by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Republican establishment, Rove’s Super-PACs and their Big Business allies which by-and-large achieved primary victory for the candidates they backed.

So Rove and his Big Business donors got what they wanted – candidates who either stood for policies, like amnesty, that grassroots conservatives oppose, or who avoided the issues and like Mitt Romney campaigned on their resumes.

What Rove doesn’t seem to understand is that those missing millions that he thinks Republican candidates need to win their 2014 Senate campaigns have already been given to candidates like Chris McDaniel, Joe Carr, Dr. Greg Brannon, Dr. Milton Wolf, Frank Roche and Dave Brat who stood for the positions that grassroots conservative donors favor.

These small donors oppose amnesty for illegal aliens, they favor a strong national defense against radical Islam and respect for the constitutional role of Congress in war-making, and they want an end to the culture of government lies created by Barack Obama and his Democratic allies on Capitol Hill.

They are not going to give to and support candidates who won’t stand for and campaign on those issues." --George Rasley

NO FREE WILL: Public Employees in 23 States Forced to Pay Union Bosses Whether They Like it or Not

By Jason Hart

Taxpayer money goes to mandatory labor union “fair share” or “agency” fees in Washington, D.C,. and 23 states.

Public employees can be forced to pay a labor union as a condition of employment in the states highlighted on the map below.

Nearly half of all U.S. states allow public-sector union contracts to require mandatory dues as a condition of employment, based on a review of U.S. Department of Labor records, state labor laws and a National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation study from 2012.

Many of these states and local governments automatically deduct union fees from public employees’ pay, funneling taxpayer money directly to labor bosses.

Words of Wisdom from the Most Brilliant President Ever...

...Also known as the man who gets everything wrong.

POTUS visted the United Nations today, reiterating his commitment to diversity and tolerance. His words were sheer, unmitigated genius:

...the United States will never be at war with Islam. Islam preaches peace. Muslims the world over seek only to live with dignity and a sense of justice.

And when it comes to America and Islam, there is no ‘us and them,’ there is only us because millions of Muslim Americans are part of the fabric of our country.

And who is to blame for all of the problems in the Middle East?

Leadership will ... be necessary to address the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis. As bleak as the landscape appears, America will never give up the pursuit of peace. The situation in Iraq, Syria and Libya should cure anyone of the illusion that this conflict is the main source of problems in the region; for far too long, it has been used in part as a way to distract people from problems at home. And the violence engulfing the region today has made too many Israelis ready to abandon the hard work of peace. But let’s be clear: the status quo in the West Bank and Gaza is not sustainable. We cannot afford to turn away from this effort – not when rockets are fired at innocent Israelis, or the lives of so many Palestinian children are taken from us in Gaza. So long as I am President, we will stand up for the principle that Israelis, Palestinians, the region, and the world will be more just with two states living side by side, in peace and security.

All of the Christians and Jews living openly in Saudi Arabia could not be reached for comment at press time.

Please Don't Feed the Eco-Intellectuals

By Alan Caruba

I confess I have always been wary of intellectuals. They love arcane theories that often have little to do with real life and this is particularly true of eco-intellectuals who have embraced a panoply of lies and claims about the “environment”, “fossil fuels”, “sustainability”, and other notions that permit them to bloviate without once addressing reality.

This has been a week of eco-propaganda on a global scale. On Sunday there were “Climate Marches.” On Tuesday there will be a UN “Climate Summit”, and there will likely be an avalanche of nonsense in the media intended to make us believe we have control, influence, or impact on the climate when it is obvious to the rest of us that we—the human race—have none.

In the past nearly two decades we have all been experiencing not a warning, but a cooling of planet Earth. It has nothing to do with us and everything to do with the Sun that has been in a low cycle of radiation—less heat!

A friend alerted me to an article in the August 22nd edition of the New Republic, a famously liberal magazine. “Global Warming Is Just One of Many Environmental Threats That Demand Our Attention” is the title of Amartya Sen’s article. He is a Nobel laureate in economics, a winner of the National Humanities Medal, an author, and teaches at Harvard University.

There were two immediate red flags that caught my attention. First was that he is an economist and the second was that he was writing about “global warming” as of it was happening.

In early September I had written about another economist who had an opinion published in The Wall Street Journal. It was ludicrous in terms of his complete lack of even the most basic science he was either addressing or ignoring as he too warned of horrid environmental portents to come. Economists should stick to economics.

If you suffer from insomnia or have a fondness for reading sentences filled with words rarely used in common communication, you will find that Sen’s article will either put you to sleep or, more likely, give you a migraine headache. The article is an insufferable platform for him to demonstrate his Nobel certified intellectual brilliance, while possessing very little understanding of science or what we ordinary people call common sense.

PHOTO: Guess what happens to a Syrian fighter jet about three seconds after it crosses into Israeli airspace?

Can you say, "instant fireball"?

Israel said that the jet - identified as a Russian-made Sukhoi Su-24 - had crossed the battle lines of Syria's civil war and flew over its Golan Heights territory, perhaps by accident.

The incident coincided with but did not appear to be directly related to air strikes the United States and Gulf Arab allies mounted on Islamic State strongholds in Syria.

But it presented another challenge to Israel's oft-stateddesire to stay on the sidelines of a conflict on its northerndoorstep, in which al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front rebels took overa border crossing on the Golan last month.

The Israeli military said its U.S.-made Patriot missile air defence system shot down a Syrian Russian-built Sukhoi fighter plane that had 'infiltrated Israeli airspace' over the territory, captured by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war.

It was the first time in three decades that Israel had downed a Syrian warplane.

It's another historic Obama first!

Iran, Lies and Videotape

By Ken Timmerman

Aren’t you tired of the lies and obfuscations rolling off the lips of our most senior government leaders?

Last Friday, at a speech in Pensacola, Florida, for which he was paid the princely sum of $22,000, former CIA Acting Director Mike Morell pulled a Sergeant Schultz, saying he "knows nothing" about Iranians in Benghazi.

The question about the Iranian presence in Benghazi was written ahead of time and deliberately crafted by former U.S. intelligence officers to give him the opportunity to tell the truth without divulging classified matters.

Morell could have made a general comment to the effect that the U.S. has been concerned for years with the growing Iranian intelligence presence in many parts of the world. He might have mentioned Iran’s reckless eagerness to kill Americans, whether in Afghanistan, Iraq, or Washington, DC, where the top leadership of the Revolutionary Guards got caught by the Department of Justice sending a flunky to blow up the Saudi ambassador at a bustling restaurant...

Here was the question, as read out by the moderator to Morell:

“Was the CIA aware of the Iranian and Hezbollah involvement in Benghazi during the uprising against Qaddafi, and later, in the lead-up to the attacks on Sept 11-12, 2012? Was the CIA aware of the arrival on July 31, 2012 of a 7-man team of so-called Iranian Red Crescent workers in Benghazi?”

There were many ways Morell could have answered that question truthfully, even artfully, without getting into classified matters or jeopardizing the ongoing (and foolish) nuclear talks with Iran.

Instead, he chose a flat-out lie.

What Obama Doesn't Know Could Fill a Book

The Wall Street Journal's Bret Stephens lays down #44's litany of failure, noting that all presidents make mistakes, but what distinguishes Obama is "his ideological rigidity and fathomless ignorance."

...even at an elementary level, Mr. Obama often doesn't know what he's talking about. It isn't so much his analysis of global events that's wrong, though it is. The deeper problem is the foundation of knowledge on which that analysis is built.

You mean an inexperienced community agitator raised by Marxists doesn't have a realistic worldview? The hell you say!

In situation after situation, Obama has made the wrong call -- often obviously and catastrophically wrong -- each of which holds the potential for dire consequences around the globe.

Even as the Stock Market Soars to Record Highs, the Ultra-Wealthy Swarm to Buy Physical Gold

By Michael Snyder

Did you know that the number of gold bars being purchased by ultra-wealthy individuals has increased by 243 percent so far this year? If stocks are just going to keep soaring, why are they doing this? On Thursday, the Dow Jones industrial average and the S&P 500 both closed at record highs once again. It is a party that never seems to end, and there are a lot of really happy people on Wall Street these days. But those that are discerning realize that we witnessed the exact same kind of bubble behavior during the dotcom boom and during the run up to the last financial crash in 2007. The irrational exuberance that we are witnessing right now cannot go on forever. And the bigger that this bubble gets, the more painful that it is going to be when it finally bursts. Those that get out at the peaks of the market are the ones that usually end up making lots of money. Those that ride stocks all the way up and all the way down are the ones that usually end up getting totally wiped out.

To get an idea of how irrational the markets have become, all one has to do is to look at Twitter.

Would you value "a horribly mismanaged company" that is less than 10 years old and that has never made a yearly profit at 31 billion dollars?

Well, that is precisely how much the financial markets say that Twitter is worth at this moment.

Even though Twitter will probably never be much more popular than it is right now, it continues to bleed money profusely. On a GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) basis, Twitter lost an astounding 145 million dollars during the second quarter of 2014...

Intruder Alert

Spotted at the always entertaining Hopenchange Cartoons.

The Secret Service is in some not-too-secret trouble following an incident Friday in which a man with a knife climbed over the White House fence, ran 70 yards across the lawn, and then entered the White House through an unlocked front door.

Fortunately, Joe Biden wasn't in the building because he very well could have followed his own advice and fired a shotgun through the door.

THE WAR ON POVERTY: 50 Consecutive Years of Failure

Robert Rector, writing in The Washington Times, writes the epitaph of the catastrophic disaster -- for all involved -- known as "The War on Poverty."

This year marks the 50th anniversary of President Lyndon Johnson’s launch of the War on Poverty. In January 1964, Johnson declared “unconditional war on poverty in America.” Since then, the taxpayers have spent $22 trillion on Johnson’s war. Adjusted for inflation, that’s three times the cost of all military wars since the American Revolution.

Last year, government spent $943 billion providing cash, food, housing and medical care to poor and low-income Americans. (That figure doesn’t include Social Security or Medicare.) More than 100 million people, or one third of Americans, received some type of welfare aid, at an average cost of $9,000 per recipient. If converted into cash, this spending was five times what was needed to eliminate all poverty in the United States.

By the government's own measures, the drop in the percentage of individuals qualifying as poor ended once the "War" truly got underway.
