NEW HAMPSHIRE: Job Growth for Immigrants Far Outpacing That of American Citizens

By Karen Zeigler and Steven A. Camarota

The Gang of Eight immigration bill (S.744) passed last June would have roughly doubled the number of new foreign workers allowed into the country, as well as legalized illegal immigrants.

Both of New Hampshire’s senators voted for it.

An analysis of government data by the Center for Immigration Studies shows that since 2000, 71 percent of the net increase in the number of working-age (16 to 65) people holding a job in New Hampshire has gone to immigrants (legal and illegal) — even though the native-born accounted for 65 percent of population growth among the working-age. As a result, the share of natives holding a job in the state has declined significantly. The decline in employment has been felt primarily by natives without a college education.

Among the findings:

  • The total number of working-age (16 to 65) immigrants (legal and illegal) holding a job in New Hampshire increased by 21,000 from the first half of 2000 to the first half of 2014, while the number of working-age natives with a job increased by just 8,700 over the same period.

IT'S COME TO THIS: Obama has secret plans to import Ebola-stricken illegal aliens into U.S.

By Investor's Business Daily

Public Safety: To get other countries to send medical teams to West Africa, the State Department created plans to treat infected noncitizen doctors and health care workers in the U.S. This would put Americans' health at risk.

As we look for our new Ebola czar on the side of milk cartons, we can clearly see the chaotic handling of the few Ebola patients who have reached our shores. We watch shifting guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control etched in sand, the sending of U.S. soldiers into the hot zones of West Africa without any real plans on how to handle their return, and governors struggling to fill in the leadership gap left by the administration's malpractice.

The limited number of cases has burdened the few hospitals capable of handling Ebola with excessive costs and commitments of doctors and nurses — who put themselves at risk — as well as the task of finding all those that the infected individuals may have come in contact with. Quarantines are mandatory, then they are not, and self-monitoring is supposed to be enough to safeguard the health of the American people.

Despite historical and medical evidence that quarantines at the source of infectious epidemics are the only way to stem the tide, the Obama administration is not only refusing to impose a travel ban from West Africa, which Australia has imposed, but is actively considering bringing noncitizens who are infected to America to be treated.

In her new memoir, Sharyl Attkisson says a source who arranged to have her laptop checked for spyware in 2013 was “shocked” and “flabbergasted” at what the analysis revealed.

“This is outrageous. Worse than anything Nixon ever did. I wouldn’t have believed something like this could happen in the United States of America,” Attkisson quotes the source saying.

How Much Does President Obama Hate Israel?

You would think that even a hardened ideologue like Barack Obama would grudgingly approve of the one peaceful, diverse, civilized, tolerant, multi-ethnicity, multi-cultural garden spot in the Middle East known as Israel.

But then you'd be wrong.

Two days after [Obama snubbed its defense minister], the Israeli government announced the construction of 1,000 new housing units in so-called East Jerusalem, including 600 new units in the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood that was the subject of a 2010 row with Joe Biden. Happy now, Mr. Vice President?

The real problem for the administration is that the Israelis—along with all the other disappointed allies—are learning how little it pays to be on Barack Obama’s good side. Since coming to office in 2009, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed, against his own inclination and over the objections of his political base, to (1) recognize a Palestinian state; (2) enforce an unprecedented 10-month settlement freeze; (3) release scores of Palestinian prisoners held on murder charges; (4) embark on an ill-starred effort to reach a final peace deal with the Palestinians; (5) refrain from taking overt military steps against Iran; and (6) agree to every possible cease-fire during the summer’s war with Hamas.

In exchange, Mr. Kerry publicly blamed Israel for the failure of the peace effort, the White House held up the delivery of munitions at the height of the Gaza war, and Mr. Obama is hellbent on striking whatever deal the Iranians can plausibly offer him.

Oh, and Mr. Kerry also attributes the rise of Islamic State to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Maybe if the Israelis grovel a bit more, Mr. Obama will oblige them by recognizing a Palestinian state as his parting act as president. Don’t discount the possibility.

And now it's down to petty insults.

A "senior administration official" (Valerie Jarrett, anyone?) called Israeli PM -- and former special forces operator -- Benjamin Netanyahu a "chickens***". I kid you not.

ANOTHER EBOLA CASE? Vermont Man Under Quarantine After Return From West Africa

Mike relays this late-breaking news from the Maple Syrup State:

A Vermont man began living under voluntary quarantine Monday upon returning from West Africa, Gov. Peter Shumlin announced at a news conference on Tuesday.

The measure is a precaution as the man has exhibited no symptoms of Ebola.

"There is extremely low risk, in my judgment, of this individual contracting Ebola," Shumlin said. "However we're going to take every precaution to keep the public safe and to act in this individual's best interest."

The man is a Rutland resident, city Mayor Christopher Louras wrote in a statement, which he posted on his Facebook page about 30 minutes after the conference.

Shumlin said the quarantine is taking place in Vermont but outside a health care facility. The man is housed in a "safe, rural setting" with a law enforcement presence. He will be monitored for 21 days, the governor said.

Acting Health Commissioner Tracy Dolan also spoke at the event. She said that health care workers are not using protective gear in caring for the man and have not received specialized training.

Shumlin declined to specify what kind of law enforcement was present, but he said the expenses were being covered by the state.

It would seem that the Center for Disease Control is as confused as the rest of this administration. The CDC now tells us that "the protocol for individuals who do not display Ebola symptoms but are returning from countries where the virus is widespread will be determined on a case-by-case basis."

In other words, they're winging it.

CHART O' THE DAY: Who Trusts Which News Sources?

RedState's 'streiff' ("Why @BuzzFeed isn’t trusted by anyone explained in one post") points us to some excellent charts from Pew Research on political polarization and the media.

Here's my favorite:

...At least as important as where people turn for news is whose news they trust. And here, the ideological differences are especially stark.

Respondents were asked whether they had heard of each of the 36 outlets listed in the accompanying graphic. For those they had heard of, they were asked about their trust – or distrust – in each source.

Liberals, overall, trust a much larger mix of news outlets than others do. Of the 36 different outlets considered, 28 are more trusted than distrusted by consistent liberals. Just eight earn higher shares of distrust than trust. Still, among those eight, the levels of distrust can be high: fully 81% of consistent liberals distrust Fox News, and 75% distrust the Rush Limbaugh Show.

Among consistent conservatives, by contrast, there are 24 sources that draw more distrust than trust. The same is true for 15 sources among those with mostly conservative views. And, of the eight outlets more trusted than distrusted by consistent conservatives, all but one, on balance, are distrusted by consistent liberals.

Also at play here is the degree to which people are more familiar with certain news sources than others. Some outlets such as CNN, ABC News and Fox News, are recognized by at least nine-in-ten respondents, meaning that more respondents offer a view of these outlets one way or the other. Outlets currently occupying more niche markets, such as Politico, the Economist or BuzzFeed, are known by only about a third of respondents. Thus, while they may elicit strong views in one direction, the share of respondents weighing in is relatively small.

Ben Smith hardest hit.

Say, how are Mr. Obama's "trickle up" policies working out for the poor and the middle class?

Mr. Obama and his sycophants have long pilloried "trickle down economics" (which only means people get to keep more of their money to save, invest and buy things -- as opposed to the government forcibly taking it, laundering it through their vast federal bureaucracy, and then redistributing it to favored constituencies).

Mr. Obama calls the latter approach "trickle sideways economics."

Others more properly refer to it as "trickle-up poverty."

The UK's Telegraph headlines their recap of the post-2009 malaise in plaintive terms: "Life under Obama sucks... and these numbers prove it" and has a chart that illustrates the point.

Quality of life is poor. Starting at the very bottom, poverty levels point to stagnation. In January 2009 the poverty rate stood at 14.3 per cent. It rose to around 15 per cent and then fell back down in 2013 to 14.5 per cent (but the actual number of those in poverty remained the same from 2012). Things are worse for black Americans, whose poverty rate has risen in that same period from 25.8 per cent to 27.2 per cent...

...Not everyone’s doing badly, of course. The richest 10 per cent are the only group – the only group! – who saw their median income rise from 2010-2013. As the Washington Times points out, that’s the same period in which Barack Robin Hood Obama won re-election painting the GOP as corporate vampires. The richest people have seen their share of taxes decline quite dramatically under this “socialist” president – while, interestingly, the share of federal income tax paid by the middle class has, according to the IRS, slightly risen...

...In short, the middle class has good reasons to be frustrated with Obamanomics – especially given that the President has so often claimed to be on the side of the little man but has largely operated to the benefit of the super rich. In fact, I wouldn’t blame Mitt Romney if he secretly cast a ballot for Obama in 2012.

It's gotten so bad that Joe Biden stated that -- thanks to Obama's policies -- the "Middle Class has been left behind."

As Deroy Murdock recently observed, black Americans are worse off under Obama.

One hopes that more and more of the beleaguered urban poor emulate Chicago activists Paul McKinley, Mark Carter, Joseph Watkins and Harold “Noonie” Ward to exact some political revenge against their oppressors.

These Apartheid states are all they care about. Their greatest effort has been set not on resolving the stateless problems of the Kurdish minority, on the national borders of Armenia or ending the Turkish occupation and settlement of Cyprus-- but on adding yet another Arab-Muslim state to the region.

Palestine, the cynical project of Pan-Arabist and Pan-Islamist thugs, is the great obsession of the left. Because if there's one thing that the Middle East doesn't have enough of, it's totalitarian regimes built on Arab and Islamist identity. And the one thing it has too much of is democratic state with a non-Arab and non-Muslim majority. And that one thing is what they are committed to destroying." --Daniel Greenfield

GRAPHIC: Your Jealous Dog

Visualization blogger Robert Kosara points us to this interesting graphic that he labels an example of "data journalism".

A...recent example was on the behavior of dogs in different settings. The data again came from a paper, which even included almost the exact same chart that was used in the NY Times piece. But only almost. The key differences are what turn a boring bar chart into an interesting, readable one: color, spacing, and some cute drawings. Enough for Kaiser Fung to use it as an argument that visualization can be worth paying for.

Here's the actual graphic:

Dead Sacramento Police Officers, Rampant Drug Smuggling, And 37,000 Criminal Aliens Who Were Freed Last Year

By Sara Noble

Drug smugglers are welcomed into the United States. We can assume nothing else. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t be allowed to pour across our borders; they wouldn’t be released willy nilly from prisons each year without any accountability: and we wouldn’t have a dormant deportation policy.

If we at least attempted to stop illegal immigration, a 17-year old illegal alien might not have been free to rape and murder his 5-year old cousin. An off-duty officer might be alive today. There is a family of four who might be living their lives as they should be.

There are two law enforcement officers who might not have died this past Friday if we at least deported narcotics traffickers.

Until they had no choice, the newspapers wouldn’t even release the fact that the alleged murderer of the officers was an illegal alien.

The man suspected of killing two deputies and wounding another during a shooting rampage in Northern California was deported twice to Mexico and had a drug conviction, federal authorities said Saturday.

Suspected cop killer Marcelo Marquez aka Luis Enrique Monroy-Bracamonte is an illegal alien criminal who was arrested and deported in 1997 and 2001. He has been living in Salt Lake City with an arrest record for possession of narcotics.

Once illegal aliens get here, there is almost no internal enforcement of our immigration laws.

On Friday, the alleged drug dealing murderer, killed two Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies while he and his wife were on a crime spree.

VILE: Chris Christie sticks a knife in Scott Walker's back

Dan Riehl points us to a disturbing revelation by the Weekly Standard.

As background, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie serves as Chairman of the Republican Governors' Association (RGA). In that capacity, Christie controls the purse-strings of a substantial pot of dough that would normally be deployed to the most competitive gubernatorial races for GOP candidates.

Despite rumors of Christie undermining Walker's campaign by withholding precious funding, GOP insiders had earlier assured the Standard that Christie had Walker's back. It would appear that they were lying.

The RGA had already spent $6 million overall in Wisconsin, the source said, and would spend a total of $10 million or $11 million by Election Day – up to an additional $5 million to shore up Walker in a competitive race. The majority of the money the RGA had spent – and planned to spend – would be on television ads. Those numbers, this source pointed out, compare favorably to RGA spending next door in Michigan ($10 million to date), where Governor Rick Snyder has held a small but consistent lead in public and private polling. “So when all is said and done, we’ll spend more in Wisconsin than Michigan,” the source told us.

That’s not accurate.

...Our “GOP source with knowledge of RGA spending” told us [that] the RGA is committing to just $2 million now – that’s not an increase over their original amount, as RGA officials told the Post, it would appear to be a significant reduction.

What's more, Wisconsin GOP sources dispute the RGA's claim to have spent $6 million to date, putting the figure at closer to $3 million.

...the RGA is now conceding that they are spending more on Michigan ($10 million to date) than Wisconsin... In the RealClearPolitics average of polls over the last three weeks (9/30 through 10/19) [Michigan Gov. Rick] Snyder has a 5.6 point lead.

...In Wisconsin, by contrast, Democrat Mary Burke has led or been tied with Walker in nearly half of the polls taken since April (7 of 16). On Thursday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that "Burke and her allies have outspent the governor and his allies on broadcast television, $8.2 million to $7.4 million, according to data compiled by the Center for Public Integrity," but "Republicans are believed to have a spending advantage" on cable. Campaign spending is just one factor out of many that can determine the outcome of a close race, but the race in Wisconsin couldn't get any closer. Walker and Burke are now tied--47.3 percent to 47.3 percent--in the average of polls.

Like 2012 -- when the New Jersey governor threw Mitt Romney under the bus by offering numerous photo ops and a tacit endorsement of Barack Obama after Hurricane Sandy -- it would seem that Chris Christie's number one job is promoting Chris Christie.

If that means sabotaging a potential 2016 rival for the GOP presidential nomination, so be it. Christie is a perfect representative of the GOP establishment; he fits in seamlessly with other selfish "me-firsters" like Karl Rove, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner.

VOTER ID: The Ultimate Faux Controversy

By Ed Feulner

If you’ve ever tried to board a plane, cash a check or rent a car, you’ve almost surely had to show some form of identification with your picture on it. For most people, that takes the form of a driver’s license, but there are other forms of photo ID. Millions of Americans produce them every day to do dozens of everyday tasks and think nothing of it.

Why should it be any different when we vote? Anyone can show up and claim to be you. Imagine if all someone had to do was state your name and address. I don’t know about you, but producing a form of ID when I vote gives me some peace of mind that no one else is voting in my name.

The short answer to the above question is that it’s no different at all. In fact, to the extent that it is different, you could say it’s even more important to produce a photo ID for voting. What civic duty supersedes that of voting? It’s a responsibility we must take seriously.

That helps explain why 31 states have some form of voter-ID laws in effect. Some are stricter than others, but all send an important message: Voting is too important not to take fraud seriously. We need to make sure that when someone shows up to vote, he is who he says he is, and not someone else.

You’d think this would be the most noncontroversial thing in the world. Who could oppose voter-ID laws? Some fringe groups? A few, yes, but unfortunately, they’re joined by some people who ought to know better, such as U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder Jr., whose headquarters in Washington requires a photo ID to enter.

QOTD: "...Judicial Watch has finally forced the Obama Department of Justice (DOJ) to provide a detailed listing of all the records it has withheld from Congress and the American people about the deadly Fast and Furious scandal and its cover-up. The documents, as we suspected, detail the personal involvement of outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder in managing the DOJ’s media strategy and its response to congressional investigations.

But what really stands out is the disturbing extent to which President Obama’s executive privilege claims over these records are a fraud and an abuse of his office. There is no precedent for Obama’s Nixonian assertion of executive privilege over these ordinary government agency records. The Obama administration is even withholding emails between Holder, his wife Sharon Malone and his mother under absurd claims of executive privilege. Obama, personally and through his authority as president of the United States, claims that the wife and mother of Eric Holder are entitled to know more about the Fast and Furious operation than the American people and the United States Congress." --Judicial Watch

Janet Yellen Echoes Barack Obama's "Income Inequality" Nonsense

By James Pethokoukis

Fed Chair Janet Yellen recently spoke at a Boston Fed conference on inequality:

The extent of and continuing increase in inequality in the United States greatly concern me. The past several decades have seen the most sustained rise in inequality since the 19th century after more than 40 years of narrowing inequality following the Great Depression. By some estimates, income and wealth inequality are near their highest levels in the past hundred years, much higher than the average during that time span and probably higher than for much of American history before then. It is no secret that the past few decades of widening inequality can be summed up as significant income and wealth gains for those at the very top and stagnant living standards for the majority. I think it is appropriate to ask whether this trend is compatible with values rooted in our nation’s history, among them the high value Americans have traditionally placed on equality of opportunity.

While I could pick through her entire speech, the part I put in in boldface really jumped out. “Stagnant living standards for the majority” for the past few decades? Really?

I don’t think that is correct. According to the Congressional Budget Office, average real after-tax household income between 1979 and 2007, grew by 275% for the top 1%, by 65% for the next 20%, and by 40% for “the 60 percent of the population in the middle of the income scale (the 21st through 80th percentiles).” Those numbers more or less match the findings of researcher Richard Burkhauser who finds a 37% increase in median incomes over that same span. Now, 40% isn’t 275%, but it is also not stagnation.

Here is Manhattan Institute’s Scott Winship on the same topic:

The story over the long-run is one of strong improvement in living standards, driven in part by greater work and higher wages among women, but in part by continued gains in male earnings, declining family size, lower taxes, and more federal and employer benefits. While the range of estimates is wide, a reasonable conclusion from the totality of the evidence is that poor and middle class households are at least 30 percent richer today than their counterparts from 35 years ago.

Of course, we all wish middle-class incomes had risen more — just like we all wish, for instance, the US education system had better prepared a generation of Americans for success in a post-industrial economy facing intense global competition. But too often the stagnation argument is used as a cudgel against the beneficial tax and regulatory policies of the 1980s forward. President Obama has done this repeatedly. But I would expect a more careful, data-driven analysis by the Fed chair.

Obama will bypass Congress on Iran sanctions if nuclear deal is reached

In another example of the White House bypassing Congress to avoid a vote it would lose, the Obama administration will not to seek congressional approval to suspend sanctions against Iran if a deal on the Islamic republic’s nuclear program can be reached, The New York Times reported Sunday night.

According to the report by David Sanger, citing American and Iranian officials, Iran has agreed in principle that a “suspension” of sanctions would be enough for them to take away from the negotiating table.

Israeli Minister: Israel-US relations in 'crisis'

"There is a crisis with the Americans and it needs to be addressed as a crisis," Finance Minister Yair Lapid said Saturday after ongoing tensions between Washington and Jerusalem led US officials to block Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon from meeting with senior administration officials during his current US visit.

QOTD: "These are deceitful hack politicians and the American people have to decide if they like the direction the country is going in. Do you want chaos on the border? Do you want immigration amnesty? Do you want massive debt? Do you want more redistribution of wealth? Do you want more nationalization of healthcare? Destruction of jobs, outsourcing of jobs? If you like it, then vote for your Democrat. The fact of the matter is none of these Democrats that are running are moderates; they're all radicals. None of them believe in small government. They all believe in massive centralized government. None of them believe in the working man and the citizens of this country. They spend more time worrying about illegal aliens and how they're going to be taken care of and so forth and so on, the Democrat party is a disaster. It's become a radical party. I have problems with the Republican party but the Democrat party really has lost its way and they need to get a good swift kick in the ass in this election." --Mark Levin

KFC Korea introduces a Heart Attack for $4.99

Oh, my.

Anyone heading to Seoul tonight?

KFC is looking to take its heart attack-inducing Double Down sandwich to all new heights. And we’re not sure how we feel about it.

Is it really necessary to create a Double Down with a burger patty sandwiched right in the middle?!

KFC Korea is responsible for this monstrosity called the Zinger Double Down King. If you’re not familiar with the original Double Down, it’s already unhealthy as you could imagine.

First off, bacon and cheese are nestled between two crispy chicken patties that serve as the bun. Now, you can add a burger patty between all of that, and boom: You’ve got KFC Korea’s take on the concoction.

The slogan reads, No bun, all meat.

They say that like it’s a good thing...

Daddy like.
