QOTD: "Back in 2006, the GOP got swept out of office, and it has now been swept back into power. But the faces of its leadership have not changed. Boehner and McConnell are still there.

The Democrats now have decided to keep its faces the same too. Pelosi, Reid, and all of Obama’s advisors will be the same.

There is one startling difference though. The GOP, since 2006, has engaged in a House cleaning due to its base. It has been challenged, people more connected to the ideals of limited government have come into power, and in 2014 we are going to see a more conservative House of Representatives with Cruz, Paul, Lee, Rubio, etc. still in the Senate.

The Democrats have seen the right of their party destroyed, the left of their party emboldened, and the heart of their party re-inforced. All that the public rejected on Tuesday is now the bedrock of the Democratic Party." --Erick Erickson

As Obama needlessly stalls the Keystone XL pipeline, China and Russia ink massive energy deal

By Investor's Business Daily

Energy Policy: Hours before the president who stalled the Keystone XL pipeline arrived in Beijing, Russia and China signed 16 energy agreements, including one to supply Russian natural gas to its energy-hungry neighbor.

Chinese President Xi Jinping's meeting Sunday night with Russian President Vladimir Putin was the 10th between the two since Xi took China's helm 20 months ago. They talked energy, the critical role of which in world affairs they, if not the Obama administration, seem to recognize.

The 16 agreements that they inked included one dealing with a western pipeline, the Altai route, to carry 30 billion cubic meters (bcm) of Russian natural gas to China annually, part of a framework agreement between Russian energy giant Gazprom and the state-run China National Petroleum.

The new energy supply line complements an already announced pipeline in the east, dubbed the Power of Siberia, which will supply 38 bcm annually to China. Work on that route began after a $400 billion deal was signed in May.

Yang Cheng of the Center for Russian Studies in Shanghai said of the agreements that they represent "the shared pursuit of major emerging economies seeking a greater capability to shape the international and regional order."

Both Russia and China are expansionist powers, with Putin seeking to reassemble the lost Soviet empire and China pursuing territorial ambitions in the East and South China Seas.

CHARTS: Public Overwhelmingly Opposes Obama's Lawless Executive Order on "Amnesty"

It would seem that the vast majority of Americans still believe that we have a governing document known as "the Constitution", which would ostensibly require that a President work with Congress to arrive at new laws.

In fact, even the majority (62 percent) of Latinos and Blacks oppose Obama's outrageous attempt to rewrite federal immigration statutes on his own.

Should this nefarious act occur, there should be only one remedy considered by the Congress. And that is impeachment.

THE MIDTERM ELECTIONS: A Stunning Slap in the Face to the Global Warming Grifters

By Alan Caruba

What the midterm voters wanted was an economy that returned to its average 3.3% annual growth since the end of World War II. For six years of the Obama presidency, growth has all but disappeared. In 2013, as measured by the World Bank, it was barely 1.9% That translated into a lack of jobs, stagnant middle class income, and what Obama correctly called the Great Recession, but could not end.

Instead, in the lead-up to the midterm elections, he was still talking about “climate change” as the greatest threat to the nation and the world. For the voters, however, climate change wasn’t even on its list of priorities and with good reason, there is nothing anyone or any nation can or should do about the great forces of nature that determine what the Earth’s climate will be; starting with the Sun.

The day after the elections two major environmental organizations, the Sierra Club and Friends of the Earth (FOE), wrote to their members. Their message was similar and their conclusions were absurd.

“The election’s over and the planet lost,” wrote Erich Pica, FOE president. “The next Congress will be controlled by politicians elected with millions of dollars of the Koch brothers’ oil money—putting at risk the vital environmental protections we’ve fought so hard to achieve.” FOE has more than 2 million activists in 75 nations including the U.S.

What Pica does not mention in his letter is the estimated $85 million spent on six Senate races by what The Hill described as “the nation’s top environmental groups including the League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, the Environmental Defense Fund, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and billionaire Tom Steyer’s NextGen Climate…”

So the Koch brother’s money is evil, but environmental organizations’ money is okay?

RED CHINA RISING: Espionage, New Weapons Systems Change the Balance of Power

By Investor's Business Daily

Military Superiority: China's new Shenyang J-31 stealth fighter could be the equal of our F-22s and F-35s, U.S. pilots say, and is just one of the weapons that may thwart America's "pivot" to the Pacific.

The J-31, a fifth-generation stealth fighter, will make its official debut at the Zhuhai International Air Show Nov. 11-16 in southern China's Guangdong province. As one U.S. pilot with F-35 experience told USNI News of the J-31 and other new Chinese fighters: "I think they'll eventually be on par with our fifth-gen jets — as they should be, because industrial espionage is alive and well."

According to the USNI report, it's believed the J-31 was developed using the Pentagon's nearly $400 billion Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program.

In June 2011, Chinese hackers staged a cyberassault on Lockheed and other defense contractors, one of an ongoing series of attacks seeking to steal U.S. defense technology.

QOTD: "Rob O’Neill, the man who claims he killed Osama bin Laden, said that “Osama bin Laden died like a p***y” in a series of interviews with freelance journalist Alex Quade that were excerpted on Friday’s “AC 360” on CNN.

O’Neill said “anytime anyone says ‘You know, my brother died at Cantor Fitzgerald, or my mom, whatever’ one thing I tell them is, ‘All right Osama bin Laden died like a p***y. That’s all I’m telling you, just so you know. He died afraid. And he knew we were there to kill him.’”

He also reported that other members of SEAL Team Six “knew we were going to die. we knew we weren't coming back…we all accepted it and nobody was afraid,” but that the victims of 9/11 helped motivate them saying, “we didn’t do it for us, we did it for the people who didn’t want to die.” And “9/11 is very significant. It was the whole reason we were there.” He added that the thought process before the mission was, “we’re gonna die, but we’re gonna die when the house blows up, but knowing that f***face blew up, too.”" --Breitbart TV

Don't give up your day job, Jesse Berney (if that is your real name)

Jesse Berney, according to his own self-written bio, is a Blue Nation Review "contributing editor, as well as a speechwriter and stand-up comedian in Washington, DC."

I bookmarked his recent article entitled "U.S. Senate 2014: Here’s Who Will Win Every Single Race" so that I could go back and see how well the various geniuses on the Left could predict the mood of the American electorate.

Behold, utter hilarity:

Virginia: "Warner will take this one in a walk."

Alaska: "Begich is going to pull this one out." (Begich refuses to concede though he's down by 4 percentage points).

Colorado: "This one goes to Udall."

Georgia: "Nunn wins a squeaker."

Kansas: "Orman ekes out a victory."

North Carolina: "Hagan takes it in a walk."

Louisiana: "Landrieu will come in a very close second on November 4, then win with a larger margin of victory in the runoff."

The final prediction, according to Berney?

50 Democrats, 47 Republicans, and three Independents. Bernie Sanders is a sure thing to caucus with the Democrats, and Angus King won’t switch if doing so doesn’t put him in the majority. Orman won’t jump to the party he just beat, especially if it means being in the minority. So the Democratic caucus will end up at 53.

Like I said, I’m an optimist. But Democrats seem to be finally figuring out that a more full-throated defense of their values, especially when it comes to a woman’s right to choose, which is playing a key role in many of these elections (just look at the ads) is the path to victory. As long as the economy doesn’t take a sudden turn for the worse, I expect Democrats to surprise much of the punditry on November 4.

You can mock Berney on Twitter at @JesseBerney.

GREAT NEWS: Department of Labor Allocated $1.4 Million to Fight Discrimination... In Mexico

By JudicialWatch

As if it weren’t bad enough that the U.S. spends exorbitant amounts of taxpayer funds to support illegal immigrants in this country, it’s allocating north of a million dollars to help the Mexican government combat employment discrimination in Mexico.

Is there no end to the madness? Each year Americans are forced to pay tens of billions of dollars to educate, feed, house, incarcerate and medically treat illegal aliens—most of them from Mexico—in the U.S. and now we’re sending cash south of the border for a cause that’s hardly ours to fund. Uncle Sam will dole out around $1.4 million to help Mexico enforce a two-year-old federal labor law that’s supposed to protect workers, but the Latin American country evidently doesn’t have the resources to enforce it.

The generous U.S. contribution will fund a technical assistance project in Mexico that’s supposed to help the government there combat gender discrimination and discrimination based on sexual orientation in the workplace. This also includes sexual harassment and forced pregnancy testing. The cash will flow through the Department of Labor (DOL), which has funded other similar causes in Latin America in the last few years. In this particular case, the mission is to improve working conditions, raise living standards, protect workers’ abilities to exercise their rights and address the workplace exploitation of vulnerable populations, according to the DOL grant announcement.

Here’s How Conservatives Aim to Stop Obama’s Action on Illegal Immigrants

By Josh Siegel

Aides to conservative members of the U.S. Senate say their bosses are rallying around a strategy to prevent President Obama from taking executive action to move illegal immigrants toward citizenship: Use government funding bills to withhold the money the president needs to implement his plan.

At the same time, some of the Senate’s most conservative members are worried that party leadership could try to strike a deal with Democrats in the lame duck session on a longer-term spending agreement that could limit lawmakers’ ability to defund whatever Obama decides to do.

In a series of interviews with The Daily Signal, conservative Senate staffers said their lawmakers firmly oppose Obama’s acting on his own to allow millions of illegal immigrants to stay in the country. However, they are open to supporting a piecemeal approach on immigration policy that would emphasize border security first.

The results of this week’s election — where Republicans took control of the Senate and picked up seats in the House with a platform opposed to unilateral immigration action by the president — only emboldened their will to fight it, the Senate staffers said.

“We know this issue motivates voters,” one aide said:

This election is validation for that. Voters don’t support amnesty and expanding DACA. It’s one of the only issues that is at the cross section of the economy and national security. We should not run from it. We should embrace it.

DACA, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, is the Obama administration program delaying deportation of illegal immigrants who were brought to America as children.

A Most Compelling Idea

By Cold Fury

Limbaugh has a most excellent idea:

Now, Boehner is gonna do his press conference, and I want to expand on something. I got an idea. It’s not a new one. It’s been done before. There will be legislation. In fact, part of stopping Obama is gonna be sending him stuff that we would hope he would sign. He won’t, he’ll veto it. So there will be stuff getting done, but they will be working, they will be coming up with legislation, for those of you who think that’s important. But here’s what I think they ought to do. With every bill the House and Senate come up with that they send to Obama, it must be a package, and the package that’s sent to Obama contains the actual legislation and a letter and polling data.

If you remember, the Contract with America back in 1994, that campaign, one of the promises made in the Contract with America: only legislation that featured 60% support or more of the American people would be passed. It was part of the promise to do the work of the American people, to govern with the will of the American people. The Republicans running for Congress in ’94 promised they would not govern against the will of the people, because the Democrats were and always have. They’ve been doing that more than ever in the past six years.

Virtually everything that’s happened has been against the will of the American people. Amnesty, Obamacare, it’s never had the majority support. So what I think Boehner ought to do, give himself some cover. You know, these guys are looking for cover anyway. So you come up with whatever your legislation, say it’s repeal part of Obamacare, whatever it is, repeal the medical device tax. Fine.

Send it up there and accompany it with a letter from McConnell and Boehner to President Obama complete with polling data showing this is supported by the American people by whatever percentage the poll says and then publicize it, release it. “Today we sent legislation up to President Obama in our effort to get along and our effort to get something done and our effort to compromise,” whatever gobbledygook you want to say, and then include the fact that 60, 65, 67% of the American people support this and want this, and then make Obama react to it.

“But, Mr. Limbaugh, Obama will say he doesn’t care because that means two-thirds didn’t, and he’s got to stand for all Americans.” Doesn’t matter what he does, what you do is what matters. His reaction, we know he’s gonna veto it anyway. The point of this is not for Obama. You assemble this package, this bill and the letter and the polling data for public consumption, so that the public knows what Obama is doing when Obama vetoes something. It’s not a War on Women bill. It’s not something the Democrats and the media lie about and concoct. You submit the bill, a letter explaining it complete with polling data showing massive public support, release that so that the American people know what Obama is vetoing.

So the American people know what Obama and the Democrats oppose, thereby putting gridlock on their shoulders. Thereby putting opposition to getting things done on their shoulders. Thereby making them the obstructionists. The Republicans are simply representing the will of the people. The people want the medical device tax removed. Here’s a piece of legislation that will do it. Sign it, Mr. President. (Obama impression) “Hell, no, screw you, and Michael Jordan, too.” Vetoes it, case closed.

What’s so hard about this?

Well, I’ll just about guarantee it’s way too hard for the GOP to ever figure out. But I’d bet Cruz would be down with it.

Obama Threatens Israel With Unprecedented United Nations Vote in Support of Terrorists

Just when you think Jeremiah Wright's Mini-Me has hit rock bottom (e.g., writing secret love letters to Iran's Mullahs), he unveils another pro-Islamist tactic like this:

In a dramatic development, Israeli cabinet members are warning that US President Barack Obama threatened Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the US may opt not to oppose future hostile UN Security Council votes, unless Israel accedes to American policy demands...

...The threat, at least as leaked, implies that the United States is prepared to abandon Israel in the dock of the world body, a step that could further destabilize relations between the two allies to an unprecedented degree, Kahana said.

The Palestinians, according to one version, are demanding Israeli pull backs to the pre-67′ war lines by 2016, while another version says the UNSC threat refers to halting any and all Israeli construction beyond those areas...

...a recent article in The Atlantic by Jeffery Goldberg – who is commonly seen as reflecting the US administration’s views towards Israel – referencing the US pressure, but from the American point of view:

Citing what he called “red-hot” anger by the Obama administration “over Israel’s settlement policies,” and his view that “the Netanyahu government openly expresses contempt for Obama’s understanding of the Middle East,” Goldberg warned that “Profound changes in the relationship may be coming.”

“This is a precedent and a very dangerous step,” Kahana cautioned about the American threat, and said it was the most chilling thing he’d heard uttered in decades of Israel-US relations.

Unprecedented, indeed. Some would call it "historic."

Sen. Ted Cruz fires a warning shot over Harry Reid's bow on "Obama's lawless amnesty"

Sen. Ted Cruz just pimp-slapped Harry Reid:

Senator Harry Reid
Majority Leader
S-221, The Capitol
Washington, D.C. 20510

Dear Leader Reid:

We write to express our alarm with President Obama's announced intention to take unilateral executive action by the end of this year to lawlessly grant amnesty to immigrants who have entered the country illegally. The Supreme Court has recognized that "over no conceivable subject is the power of Congress more complete" than its power over immigration. Therefore, President Obama will be exercising powers properly belonging to Congress if he makes good on his threat. This will create a constitutional crisis that demands action by Congress to restore the separation of powers.

As majority leader of the Senate, you have the responsibility of not only representing the citizens of your State, but also of protecting the Constitution through vigilant exercise of the checks and balances provided under the Constitution. Therefore, we write to offer our full assistance in ensuring expeditious Senate debate and passage for a measure that preserves the power of Congress by blocking any action the President may take to violate the Constitution and unilaterally grant amnesty; however, should you decline to defend the Senate and the Constitution from executive overreach, the undersigned Senators will use all procedural means necessary to return the Senate's focus during the lame duck session to resolving the constitutional crisis created by President Obama's lawless amnesty.

Sincerely,

Sens. Ted Cruz, R-TX; Mike Crapo, R-ID; Mike Lee, R-UT; Pat Roberts, R-KS; Jeff Sessions, R-AL; and David Vitter, R-LA

QOTD: "I declare this National Republican Gloating Week. We kicked the Democrats’ collective posterior, beat them at their own game, seized territory in deep-blue states, outperformed the MSM polls (often by double digits), killed them in GOTV efforts, in technology, in social media, in mail-in ballots and in the voting booth.

Next week, we can roll up our sleeves and get to work. But today is for savoring." --Jon Gabriel

A Warning for Boehner, McConnell, Priebus, Rove, the RNC, and (especially) the Chamber of Crony Capitalism

Election 2014: A Conservative Victory by The Conservative Victory Project

The American people sent an unmistakable message to Washington:  Voters expect Republicans in Congress to listen and fight for the conservative agenda they ran on.

-  Every single newly elected Republican Senator ran on the full repeal of Obamacare. In most competitive races it was the top issue. Over 40,000 ads against Obamacare were run on behalf of winning candidates. The Republican House and Senate must now keep those campaign promises and use reconciliation to send a bill repealing Obamacare to the President.

-  All but one of the newly elected Republican Senators ran a strong campaign in favor of securing the border and opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants.

-  Every single newly elected Republican Senator ran in support of an agenda for hard-working middle class Americans that reduces spending, lowers taxes, and balances the budget-not in support of corporate welfare, bloated government spending bills, and endless debt-ceiling increases.

-  Far from downplaying social issues, every newly elected Republican Senator is pro-life and supports legislation that would protect unborn life after five months of pregnancy. The liberal candidates who painted pro-life candidates as engaged in a “War on Women” were routinely criticized and defeated.

Simply put, successful candidates ran as conservatives and won.

Oppose a Lame Duck Surrender

The Washington establishment is already calling on Republican leaders to capitulate to the Left in the Lame Duck. This means that opportunities to pursue conservative reforms next year will be lost.  New and returning Republican members should only vote for Leaders in the Senate and House who commit not to cave-in to President Obama and outgoing Majority Leader Reid in the Lame Duck.  The newly elected Republican Congress must have the opportunity to govern and return competence to a broken Washington.

KNIVES ARE OUT: Harry Reid Rips Bumbling Community Organizer Whose Only Skill is Reading a Teleprompter

WaPo's Paul Kane has the details of Harry Reid's temper tantrum. Reid's chief of staff, David Krone, just went public with his six-years-too-late concerns about nominating an inexperienced, back-bencher state senator with a nice logo to the office of POTUS.

Nahanni, can you pass the popcorn, dear?

...tension [inside the Democrat Party] blew up Tuesday when Krone’s comments about Democrats’ dismal showing in the 2014 midterms went public. He accused Obama of paying “lip service” to concerns about helping finance the midterm elections and said the president was an anchor that took down Democrats across the country, costing them the Senate majority.

“The president’s approval rating is barely 40 percent,” Krone said. “What else more is there to say?”

ISIS, Ebola, food stamps and rampant unemployment: what's not to like?

Krone joined Reid’s team as deputy chief of staff, helping guide him through a rocky 2010 reelection, and for the past four years as chief, Krone has channelled Reid. So his comments can reasonably be viewed as Reid’s views of Obama.

Nahanni, pass the butter, please.

EH, I THINK I'LL TAKE A RAIN CHECK: The solid gold Apple Watch could cost $5,000

Pass the Kleen-Ex, Tito: Ryan Whitwam has the bad news for the Apple fan-bois (and gurlz).

Apple pre-announced the much anticipated Apple Watch a few months ago, but neglected to discuss a price or exact launch date. Rumors are now pointing to a Valentine’s Day (February 14th) release in the US and a higher price than expected. The mid-tier stainless steel watch will sell for a somewhat high $500, but Apple will reportedly also offer the 18-karat gold “Apple Watch Edition” version for a whopping $5,000.

Any watch priced at $5,000 is a serious luxury item, and this device doesn’t even have all the intricate clockwork that watch enthusiasts love to geek out over. The rumored price is much higher than previous estimates based on similarly sized gold accessories. Jewelers estimated the gold watch could cost about $1,200. This version of the watch will also come with sapphire crystal and exclusive strap options. Still, that’s a lot to spend on a device that will be replaced with a new version in a year.

The entry-level Apple watch ("The Sport") is said to cost "only" $350.

Thanks, but I think I'll stick with my mechanical timepiece, which hasn't required a battery in -- oh -- about 25 years of continuous use.
