Why I find it hard to give a f***

By Karl Denninger

It's very hard for me to give a **** these days.

In fact, it's becoming nearly impossible.  The reasons are many, with the most-serious being your refusal to give a ****.

You don't give a **** that the entire medical industry rips everyone off to the tune of 200, 300, 400, 500% or more of what virtually everything should cost.  This is why you "need" health insurance.  It is why we "need" Medicare.  The practices of this "industry" in virtually every other line of business would result in the people involved going to prison for decades, yet you tolerate this daily despite the fact that it is the largest cause of bankruptcy in the United States.  You cannot take your car in for an oil change or have the furnace guy come and fix your heating system in your home without being quoted a price before work begins, and were two gas stations to collude on prices the owners of both would be charged with felonies.

You don't give a **** that pharmaceutical companies literally price drugs at a half-million dollars a year -- and if you need it, you'll need it effectively forever.  There are so few people who have that sort of money that this kind of pricing is by definition theft, as the only way to "afford' such a drug is to steal the money from someone else (through legal means or otherwise.)  What's worse is that you let them get away with having most of the development cost of these "wonder drugs" be born through publicly-funded research; it's not even their money at risk (for the most part) when such a new drug is tested, it's yours and mine.  We then wonder why so-called "health insurance" is as expensive as it is and why the stock of firms in that business such as Aetna (NYSE: AET) are up more than 500% since 2009, roughly doubling in the two years since the Obamacare "mandates, er, taxes" kicked in and stock in company that makes the drug in this example (ALXN) is up 1,000% since 2009.  You, on the other hand, will be flirting with bankruptcy (if not rendered penniless, insurance or no) if you get sick.

QOTD: "If you had asked me ten years ago if there was any chance of Greece becoming a failed state within a decade, I would have said ‘No, no chance.’ But here we are. In ten years, I suspect, we’ll be marveling over all the other failed states as the rot proceeds from the outside in...

...There’s simply too much debt and too little cheap oil for there to be any other trajectory to this story. Boneheadedly, our leadership is so out-of-touch that their best response to this set of predicaments is to sacrifice the populace of an entire developed nation (for generations to come) just to keep the status quo stumbling along for a bit longer.

We need to all prepare for the inevitability that, as the rot proceeds, the people of Greece will not be the only casualties of the banks' attempts at self-preservation. They'll try to throw all of us under the bus before taking any losses themselves." --Chris Martenson

I’ve Read the Nuclear Deal, Mr. President, and It’s Atrocious

By David Gerstman

Deal rewrites history: Iran committed no violations in the past

In his combative press conference last week to defend the P5+1 nuclear deal with Iran, President Barack Obama issued the following challenge:

So to go back to Congress, I challenge those who are objecting to this agreement, number one, to read the agreement before they comment on it; number two, to explain specifically where it is that they think this agreement does not prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and why they’re right and people like Ernie Moniz, who is an MIT nuclear physicist and an expert in these issues, is wrong, why the rest of the world is wrong, and then present an alternative.

First off it’s worth noting that Energy Secretary and MIT nuclear physicist Ernest Moniz said back in April that to be effective the deal would have to include “anytime, anywhere,” inspections, so Obama’s explanation about why 24 days notice is now good enough fails to convince me.

I want Moniz to explain why he changed his position on this AND why 24 days is now acceptable. I would like Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes to explain why he walked back his comments on requiring “anytime, anywhere” inspections.

And I want a more convincing explanation than negotiator Wendy Sherman’s excuse that the term was just a “rhetorical flourish.” (If that was a rhetorical flourish, I’m curious how many other administration comments about the nuclear deal were rhetorical flourishes.)

But in that paragraph, Obama limits the grounds of questioning the deal to whether the language of the deal is insufficient to prevent Iran from achieving a nuclear breakout over the course of the deal.

Here’s where I have problem. Even if the agreement was airtight, and I doubt that it is, there’s a matter of the administration’s behavior during the Joint Plan of Action, which was agreed to in November 2013. The problem is that the Obama administration has acted as “Iran’s attorney” covering for Iran’s violations of the previous agreement.

In a notable episode last month, administration officials attacked The New York Times for reporting that Iran would likely fail to reduce its stockpile of enriched uranium by the June 30 deadline. In the end Iran did reduce its stockpile but not by the method prescribed and not to the form that it was required to.

The nonproliferation think tank, the Institute for Science and International Security, earlier this month, explained why the administration’s behavior in this case was troubling:

What "Smart Meters" are really all about

"Smart meters" aren't about saving power; they're about government control. Witness the latest from Johannesburg, South Africa where authorities are pleading with residents "not to panic" when power is shut off to households that are consuming more than their fair share of electricity.

Load Limiting is a technology that enables City Power to accurately identify and ascertain household consumption in real time in relation to the available generating capacity.

The deployment of load limiting will enable City Power to remotely disconnect households that don’t comply with requests to reduce consumption, remotely using smart meters.

Households that have an excessive consumption would experience repetitive disconnections at five minute intervals for a period of 30 seconds until they have reduced their consumption to required levels.

Should they fail to abide by instructions to reduce consumption, non-compliant residents will be disconnected remotely via smart meters.

I would encourage every American to reject smart meters, no matter how tempting the incentive from your local power company.

THE DEMOCRAT CRIME WAVE: 8,100 Criminal Illegal Aliens Released in 276 "Sanctuary Cities"

By Numbers USA

As more attention is placed on sanctuary cities and how the policy affects those communities, a new report out from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) shows that thousands of criminal aliens sought by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have been released by state and local jurisdictions with sanctuary policies.

According to the report, the 276 jurisdictions in 43 states and the District of Columbia (See map here) released 8,145 criminal aliens with detainers from ICE. Of these, 63% had prior criminal histories or were labeled a public safety concern at the time of their release. Nearly 1,900 of the released criminal aliens were arrested fro another crime within the eight month period the study looked at, from January 1, 2014, to August 31, 2014.

The report went on to document that a majority, 63%, of the criminal aliens released from state and local custody had serious prior criminal records with a quarter of them being convicted of a felony.

SCANDAL: White House Welcomes Terror Immigration to America

By Daniel Greenfield

Tennessee is to Muslim refugees as New York is to Muslim hijacked planes. Chattanooga, the site of the latest Muslim terror attack against America, is a “preferred community” for resettlement along with Knoxville and Nashville.

Nashville was designated a “Gateway City” for Iraqis. Hundreds of Somali Muslims were dumped in Shelbyville and the Murfreesboro Mega-Mosque became national news because of its terror ties.

Over the last decade, middle Tennessee’s Muslim population tripled.  The rise of Islam in Tennessee as Muslims from terror zones like Iraq and Somalia flooded its towns and cities brought hate and violence.

In Memphis, Imam Yasir Qadhi was caught on tape calling Jews and Christians filthy and declaring that Muslims can take their lives and property.  Last year the FBI warned of an ISIS threat in Memphis.

This year it was Chattanooga’s turn.

Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, the son of a Palestinian man and a Kuwaiti woman living in the United States, killed four marines. One of his targets, a recruiting center, was a gun-free zone. Those inside had no way to defend themselves. Their government had welcomed in the enemy and left them unarmed and helpless against his Jihad.

Obama refused to use the word “Terrorism”. Hillary Clinton claimed that the attack was “senseless violence.” But there was nothing senseless about it. It was an act of war, one of many, in a conflict that stretches back to the founding of the United States of America.

All Hail Our Banking Overlords!

By Chris Martenson of Peak Prosperity

You really have to be paying attention to see what’s truly going on these days. The keepers of the system, that is the banking elites, now openly control everything -- though you'd never know that by listening to the media.

Consider this:

Eurozone backs €7bn bridging loan

Jul 16, 2105

Eurozone ministers have agreed to give Greece a €7bn (£5bn) bridging loan from an EU-wide fund to keep its finances afloat until a bailout is approved.

The loan is expected to be confirmed on Friday by all EU member states.

In another development, the European Central Bank (ECB) agreed to increase emergency funding to Greece for the first time since it was frozen in June.

The decisions were made after Greek MPs passed tough reforms as part of a eurozone bailout deal.

How generous of the finance ministers of all those EU member states to agree to a “bridge loan” that will help Greece "keep its finances afloat". This should provide the people of Greece with a bit of breathing room, right? Maybe access to their bank accounts (finally!), perhaps?

No, not at all. Here’s what the entirety of the “”loan”” will go towards instead:

That’s a red flag. Just like the Boston bombing, the older guy was traveling through Chechnya before the attack. That’s a hotbed of terrorism, Chechnya, so you see why I say we suck at intelligence? We don’t have a strategy.

We have got to force this issue. That’s why I’m glad Donald Trump is in the race. He’s probably not going to win, but he’s going to make this Republican field talk about some issues they would rather not discuss.

Our immigration policy is a disaster. Multiculturalism is a disaster, and it failed miserably when European countries all opened their borders and now they’re all tightening up. France demands assimilation now. So now, yes, we do have to look at immigration as a national security threat." --Sheriff David Clarke Jr. of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin

CRUZ: Obama May Not Believe We are at War With Islamism, but Islamism is at War With Us

By Sen. Ted Cruz

Yesterday, members of our armed services in Chattanooga, Tennessee, went to work in the service of our nation. Some went to a recruiting center to assist the young people who, like so many before them, would walk through the door on any given Thursday morning and volunteer to defend the United States of America. Four brave Marines went to a Naval Reserve Center to perform their duties to the Tennessee National Guard.

But one of the young people who visited two of those facilities was not like the others. He was there not to volunteer to serve America, but to attack America. Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez was there to carry out jihad, an act of radical Islamic terrorism. An act of war, in which those four brave Marines lost their lives, while at least two others were wounded.

In the wake of this vicious attack on our nation we need to rid ourselves of two dangerous delusions, first and foremost that a ‘lone gunman’–as President Obama described the shooter–is somehow isolated from the larger threat of radical Islamic terrorism. In the modern world, no one acts in isolation. Through social media ISIS, al Qaida, and other groups are infiltrating our nation with impunity while our government will not even admit that radical Islamic terrorism is a problem.

The second delusion is that this attack is somehow isolated from previous episodes, notably those in Little Rock, Arkansas and Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009—both of which were attacks on American military facilities. The Obama administration was woefully reluctant to call either an act of radical Islamic terrorism, instead suggesting ‘workplace violence’ as a justification for the killings. Finally, after years of effort, the victims of Fort Hood were properly recognized as victims of attacks by foreign terrorists when they received Purple Hearts on April 15, 2015. Likewise, the victim of the Little Rock attack received a Purple Heart on July 1, 2015.

“We cannot afford to wait six years to recognize what happened in Chattanooga for what it was. We need to see with clarity right now what has happened. We can immediately hold hearings in the Senate Armed Services Committee on the need for our enlisted men and women to have the right to be armed in military facilities. Congress can pass the Expatriate Terrorist Act that would allow our government to stop Americans who travel overseas to train with terrorist groups from coming back to attack us at home. We can thoroughly overhaul our broken immigration system that is allowing this type of individual to gain citizenship. And we can accept the reality that while we might wish it otherwise, the forces of radical Islam are at war with us.

You can support the campaign of Ted Cruz by clicking here.

AND AGAIN: Illegal Alien Accused of Brutal CT Murder Was Spared Deportation by Democrats

How many more crimes -- on top of the thousands of killings, rapes, abductions and child abuse already suffered -- will Americans tolerate before demanding that Democrats and Republican Crony Crapitalists finally seal the border? Surprisingly, CBS News deigns to report:

A Haitian immigrant who was released from prison in January after serving a 17-year prison sentence for attempted murder is back in custody on a murder charge in the death of a Connecticut woman last month.

The Bulletin reports that Jean Jacques's prison file was marked "Detainer: Immigration" and that Connecticut officials say he was released in January to the custody of the U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but was never deported.

...On Monday, the 40-year-old Jacques was in a Connecticut court to answer to murder and drug charges, stemming from the June 15 stabbing death of Casey Chadwick in Norwich, the city where Jacques lived before he went to prison. The 25-year-old woman's body was found stuffed in a closet.

According to the Bulletin, in January 2014, Connecticut made history by becoming the first state to enact legislation that prohibited law enforcement agencies from holding people simply because they had a civil immigration detainer put on them... The measure was touted as a way to strengthen immigrant families, the newspaper reports, but the law was clear on who was exempt from its protection: Convicted felons and people with a "final order" of deportation from the federal government were chief among them.

Haitian national Jacques fit both categories when he was paroled from prison in January of this year, the Bulletin reported. He had served 17 years in prison for attempted murder, a crime committed in Norwich. But he wasn't deported, or held for deportation.

...And, the ICE spokesman added, a 2001 Supreme Court case required the agency to release him in January -- six months before the brutal stabbing death of Chadwick in her Norwich apartment.

Enough. Enough.

ONE ANSWER TO ISLAMIC IMMIGRATION: A Grassroots Effort to Bring Muslims to Christ

By Baron Bodissey

The following email arrived this morning from a regular contact, a former Muslim who converted to Christianity and now lives in a Western country. Her adopted country, like virtually every other Western country, has succumbed to the madness of importing thousands upon thousands of Muslim immigrants en masse. She is associated with a church that does outreach to Muslims in the refugee centers. It’s the sort of Christian ministry practiced by Christ Himself.

With her permission, here is the text of her email describing her church’s ongoing mission to the Muslims:

I am preparing a comprehensive course on Islam and each week I am teaching it to a group of volunteers in my church. I am also translating loads of Christian material to my native language. Here I have somewhat succeeded in mobilising my church to reach out to Muslims very actively and bring them to Christ. We have had some success so far.

Our church has succeeded in convincing the authorities to give us access to refugee camps, so we are doing our best to reach out to Muslim immigrants. Of course we have to do it a bit stealthily, because the authorities don’t want us to outright proselytise, but just do charity and help in the camps. But our team is doing both at the moment. We have had great success amongst the women who are so miserable and desperate! They love for us to pray for them, and later on they come to our church and just sit there and listen, and anytime they have problems they come to us and ask for help and prayers to “our God”! They are seeing the difference between the cruel and uncaring Islamic culture and Christianity. Any chance that we get, we tell them about Jesus, and they are very very open to it.

A Promise to Five Men in Chattanooga

By Springer's Blog

Thursday, July 16, five brave men charged with the responsibility of defending this country died because they weren't allowed to defend themselves.

They were murdered by yet another Muslim, Muhammad Yousseff Abdulazeez, in an act of terrorism inspired by the islamic notion of "jihad".

Every man or woman in the United States military, regardless of their location, find themselves today unarmed, in what amounts to a global active combat theater. The idea that they can't be trusted with firearms is simply idiotic. The people who attack them do so for the same reason they murder women and children. They don't have the courage to go near anybody who has the means to defend themselves, and the people whose policies created this situation seem to be okay with it.

People in this country, honorable people, refer to this attack as an act of war. Islamists would like to think of themselves as 'warriors', but they don't know what the word means. Warriors don't go around sneaking up on unarmed people. They give themselves far too much credit. Regardless, our president, who cares about none of that, won't do anything about it. He refuses to acknowledge reality, referring to the attack as a "heartbreaking circumstance". His statement is a masterpiece of cowardice and duplicity, even for him.

If America had a president worthy of the title, these men would not have been attacked in the first place. We would have responded in kind to this violence long ago, and these terrorists would be busy murdering each other back home instead of attacking unarmed people in our streets.

The blood of these men is on Mr. Obama's hands. They weren't the first to die here at home, and they won't be the last.

Mr. Obama doesn't seem to understand any of this. Here's something else he doesn't understand: The only reason we have a Commander-in-Chief in the first place is because he was delegated, by the People, to take care of just this kind of threat. If he chooses to dishonor that responsibility, he merely renders himself irrelevant. The only thing he will dishonor in the end is himself and his office. Millions of brain dead liberals notwithstanding, this is a nation of free men, and if he won't defend America, the rest of us will. That is a promise to these men, and everyone else who died defending this country.

QOTD: "The size of the Utica shale play’s technically recoverable resources is larger than previously thought, a recent study by West Virginia University (WVU) has found.

WVU found that the Utica play contains technically recoverable resources of 782 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas and around 1.9 billion barrels of oil. That’s higher than the U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) 2012 estimate of technically recoverable resources at 38 Tcf of gas and 940 million barrels of oil.

The study results indicate that the Utica – which spans West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York – is comparable to the Marcellus shale play in terms of size and potential recoverable resources. The Marcellus is the large U.S. shale play and second largest shale oil and gas play in the world." --Karen Boman, Rigzone

THE TRUTH: Enemy of the State

By Lawrence Sellin

The United States is not a constitutional republic. It is an oligarchy controlled by wealthy financiers who hire politicians to pass legislation beneficial to them and employ journalists to keep the citizens ignorant and compliant.

Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans believe in democracy. It is simply an ideological contest between two different forms of totalitarianism based on big government, where they represent only themselves in their pursuit of personal power and profit.

GUNS DON’T KILL PEOPLE: Gun-Free Zones Kill People

By Baron Bodissey

Those signs at the Naval reserve center and the armed forces recruitment station are the greatest outrage of the Chattanooga jihad story.

Or rather, they should be, but — given the universal government and media devotion to “gun-free zones” — they won’t receive enough attention to dial up public opinion to the point of outrage.

The clearest photo of one of the signs was from the location where the Marines were killed:

Despite the distortion caused by the fracture lines in the bullet-riddled glass, the image is of high enough resolution that the text is quite readable:

John Boehner’s Reality Distortion Field

By J.D. Winteregg

I ran against Speaker Boehner in the Republican primary in 2014. He spent over $1.5 million attempting to convince the people in Ohio’s 8th district that he was “one of us, fighting for us.” His fighting rhetoric continued through the general election, as he promised us that he would “fight tooth and nail” against President Obama’s executive amnesty orders. Not even a month after he was officially re-elected, he voted for the bloated CRomnibus bill, ensuring the later “battle” to fund the amnesty would be lost.

This is Speaker Boehner’s reality; as a leader in DC, he’s a perpetual loser.

Ever since his he was poised to take over as Speaker, Boehner has immersed himself in a world where his rhetoric doesn’t match his reality. He promised that “not a dime” would go to funding Obamacare, and after the theater of 50+ votes to repeal it (to provide cover for those who wanted to be re-elected), he voted to fund it. After the IRS unfairly targeted conservative and tea party groups, Speaker Boehner boldly stated that someone needed to go to jail over the matter–no one has. Speaker Boehner has caved on raising the debt ceiling with no strings attached, he has attacked good conservative Republicans who don’t want to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants, and he has stated that he absolutely trusts the president. His trust for the President was further demonstrated when he pushed for–and voted–to give the President the ultimate authority to negotiate three secretive economic deals. We’ve all seen how well the President negotiates–5 terrorists for a traitor, and now a signing bonus to Iran that will enable them to develop a nuclear bomb.

Despite this reality, Speaker Boehner continues to claim that he is one of the most conservative people in Congress.

Not only is this unacceptable for a member of the Republican leadership, it’s unacceptable for a Republican representative. This is why I am challenging Speaker Boehner again. He has proven that he is unfit to lead and represent the people of Ohio’s 8th district.

QOTD: "Whether you look at missile defense in Eastern Europe, where [Obama] takes the side of Russia over US allies like Poland and the Czech Republic; if you look at little things, like the FalklandsIslands, where he takes the side of Argentina over a U.S. ally like the United Kingdom. And in the Middle East, he's taken the side of Iran over U.S. allies like the Sunni monarchies and Israel - because his central view is that America and American power is the problem in the world.

And, therefore, American allies are part of that problem. And, therefore, what he does is, in a sense, withdraw from the world, and enhance the position of the enemies of American allies. That's what he's done in the Middle East. And it won't be confined to the Middle East, it'll spread beyond that." --Mark Steyn

DHS Chief spits on Congress, says he will refuse to obey immigration laws

By Sara Noble

Jeh Johnson warned Congress not to pass any laws to stop sanctuary cities. He also made it clear he won’t use the tools available to him to return criminals from countries who don’t want them back.

It’s not just hardworking men and women crossing the southwest border, but drugs, weapons, victims of human trafficking and people with terrorism ties, as well. The border is not secure and we don’t have a southern border, according to testimony in March of this year by border agent Chris Cabrera.

Jeh Johnson was asked about it on Tuesday and evaded the questions, answering with diversionary responses. Johnson did say he does not want to see nor does he want to enforce any law against sanctuary cities. Nor will he use the powers he has as DHS Chief against countries who refuse to repatriate illegal aliens from their country. He will talk with them instead.

ICE is releasing hardened illegal alien criminals to sanctuary cities, knowing the city won’t cooperate, knowing they don’t honor detainers. Jeh Johnson agreed the practice “doesn’t make sense” and “there should be some discretion built in.” However, he will not support federal law to force sanctuary cities into compliance with federal law.

When asked about municipalities that refuse to cooperate, Johnson said he will “evaluate” and “build in some discrimination.”

Johnson warned Congress against trying to pass laws forcing cooperation from sanctuary cities, saying it could conflict with the Constitution, and it won’t win over the hearts of reluctant communities.

Clashes break out as Greek lawmakers debate austerity bill

Jul 15, 3:24 PM (ET)

By ELENA BECATOROS and DEREK GATOPOULOS

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Rioters hurled petrol bombs at police who responded with tear gas as an anti-austerity demonstration outside parliament turned violent Wednesday, while Greek lawmakers began debating contentious measures needed to start negotiations on a new bailout and avoid financial collapse.

Groups of youths among the more than 12,000 protesters smashed storefronts and set at least one vehicle alight. The clashes were the first significant protest violence since the left-wing Syriza government came to power in January promising to repeal bailout austerity. Police said at least 50 people were detained.

Unlike the American citizenry, the Greeks are unarmed. Imagine them well-armed.
