THE RISE OF ISLAM IN EUROPE: Infantile Government

By Judith Bergman

  • The West, especially Europe, continues to be taken aback every time a new terror attack occurs, as if each one were the first.

  • "We are importing Islamic extremism, Arab anti-Semitism, national and ethnic conflicts of other peoples, as well as a different understanding of society and law." — From a leaked German intelligence document.

  • The current generation of European political leaders has exhibited an irresponsibility and lack of leadership that is almost infantile.

KERRY: Hey, that UN Global Warming Treaty we signed is legally binding and the Senate gets no say in the matter.

By John Binder

Now, apparently, there’s a United Nations global warming initiative that Congress won’t even get the chance to vote on.

Secretary of State John Kerry walked back remarks that a future United Nations global warming treaty would not be legally binding. Now Kerry says a climate treaty would, in fact, be legally binding and not require Senate approval.

IMPORTING ISIS: See Where Obama Is Resettling Syrian "Refugees" in the United States

'Member this from a month-and-a-half ago?

Mr. Obama's impeccable timing was in full feather this week. No sooner had he uttered the words ISIS is "contained" and "not gaining strength" than the world watched in horror as Paris bled.

Closer to home, the news is also ominous.

IDIOCY. Sheer. Unvarnished. Idiocy. From @MomsDemand.

Just when you thought the gun-grabbing Left couldn't debase themselves further, the Democrat-aligned "Moms Demand Action" -- an astroturf-laden front group aligned with Michael Bloomberg -- fell chin-deep into the swamp today.

With a couple of ill-timed tweets (e.g., "This is how AK-47s get to Paris"), this mentally disturbed group appears to believe that Islamist terrorists, who destroyed the World Trade Center with airplanes and bombed London and Madrid, would obey gun control laws.

No word on what they want to do with suicide belts.

Hey, schmucks:

QOTD: "When the Allahu Akbar boys opened fire, Paris was talking about the climate-change conference due to start later this month, when the world's leaders will fly in to "solve" a "problem" that doesn't exist rather than to address the one that does. But don't worry: we already have a hashtag (#PrayForParis) and doubtless there'll be another candlelight vigil of weepy tilty-headed wankers. Because as long as we all advertise how sad and sorrowful we are, who needs to do anything?

With his usual killer comedy timing, the "leader of the free world" told George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning, America" this very morning that he'd "contained" ISIS and that they're not "gaining strength". A few hours later, a cell whose members claim to have been recruited by ISIS slaughtered over 150 people in the heart of Paris and succeeded in getting two suicide bombers and a third bomb to within a few yards of the French president.

Visiting the Bataclan, M Hollande declared that "nous allons mener le combat, il sera impitoyable": We are going to wage a war that will be pitiless.

Does he mean it? Or is he just killing time until Obama and Cameron and Merkel and Justin Trudeau and Malcolm Turnbull fly in and they can all get back to talking about sea levels in the Maldives in the 22nd century? By which time France and Germany and Belgium and Austria and the Netherlands will have been long washed away." --Mark Steyn

AFTERMATH OF #PARIS TERROR NIGHTMARE: This is the photo media won’t show you

After the World Trade Center, Mumbai, London, Bali, and now Paris -- just how many more innocents have to die before the West comes to grips with a military ideology disguised as a religion?

Just a few hours before the attack -- leveraging his usual, impeccable sense of timing -- President Obama announced that "I don’t think [ISIS is] gaining strength ... we have contained them."

That figures.

IN THE AFTERMATH OF PARIS: Only One GOP Candidate Prepared to Handle our Open Borders Nightmare

By NumbersUSA

Immigration occupied little time in the three hours of debate on the Fox Business channel on Tuesday night.

But afterwards, Fox said immigration was the No. 2 issue that Facebook users wanted to talk about during the debate (taxes were No. 1).

And one eruption of disagreement over amnesty provided one of the most talked-about segments of the night.

QOTD: "At the Republican Presidential debate earlier this week, Texas Senator Ted Cruz did something unusual for a politician — he gave a straightforward answer to a question. Yes, Cruz made clear, if the Bank of America was on the brink, he would let it fail.

That answer made perfect sense to millions of Americans who are tired of politicians doing special favors for their well-connected friends on Wall Street. But doing such favors is what Washington politics is all about.

That reality was highlighted by Neil Barofsky, who served as the Special Inspector General for the TARP bailouts. His book “Bailout: An Inside Account of How Washington Abandoned Main Street While Rescuing Wall Street.” The title says it all. A lifelong Democrat, appointed by President Bush, Barofsky was stunned that the change from the Bush Administration to the Obama Administration made no difference. No matter which party controlled the White House, the Treasury Department saw its goal as insuring the financial success of the big banks." --Scott Rasmussen

DONORS ABANDON SHIP: Despite the post-debate spin, ¡Jeb! campaign running on fumes

Apparently they were watching a different debate. Immediately following the recent Fox Business debate, vintage media positioned Jeb Bush's performance as having breathed new life into the carcass of his dying campaign.

Headlines like "Steady debate performance banishes gloom for Jeb Bush" and "Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio Make Big Impressions During Debate" were typical over the last few days, but the reality was far different. You and I saw an unhappy candidate; someone who is obviously uncomfortable at the dais, less than eloquent, and unsuccessfully marketing unpopular positions on virtually every issue imaginable.

The donors weren't convinced either:

CRUZ GOES NUCLEAR: Rubio ‘Fought Tooth and Nail’ to Ram Amnesty Down America’s Throat

By Julia Hahn

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who received widespread praise for his Tuesday debate performance in which he slammed the media for its biased coverage of immigration, continued his verbal broadside against pro-amnesty special interests on today’s program of the Laura Ingraham Show.

In perhaps his most detailed comments to date criticizing donor-class favorite Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Ted Cruz gave a crushing assessment of Rubio’s involvement in co-authoring the La Raza-backed Gang of Eight bill. Cruz outlined Rubio’s coordinated effort with Chuck Schumer to sabotage conservative efforts to add popular amendments to the Obama-championed measure:

AMERICAN FASCISM: Call The Campus Protests What They Are

By David Horowitz

The racist, McCarthyite, totalitarian movement rearing its ugly head on college campuses as diverse as Missouri, Yale and Vanderbilt is being treated by conservatives as a case of kids too fragile to handle views with which they disagree.

This may work as a debating tactic but it misunderstands both the malignancy of the politics behind the campaign and the ferocity of its radical leaders.

Now they are calling for the heads of liberals (and getting them). But quaint American prejudices like the First Amendment still stand in their way. But for how long? If this movement, which includes large contingents of the Democratic Party – including the president, achieves critical mass and succeeds in its agendas and acquires the necessary power, who can doubt that they will be putting dissenters in prison and worse?

GOOD NEWS: Obama Administration Publishes Alien Welcome Guide Offering Welfare in 14 Different Languages

Through most of American history, immigrants were required to prove they were in a state of sound health and would not become a burden on the state. In fact, the official history of Ellis Island describes the immigration process in no uncertain terms.
First and second class passengers who arrived in New York Harbor were not required to undergo the inspection process at Ellis Island. Instead, these passengers underwent a cursory inspection aboard ship, the theory being that if a person could afford to purchase a first or second class ticket, they were less likely to become a public charge in America due to medical or legal reasons... [officials felt] more affluent passengers would not end up in institutions, hospitals or become a burden to the state. However, first and second class passengers were sent to Ellis Island for further inspection if they were sick or had legal problems.

This scenario was far different for "steerage" or third class passengers. These immigrants traveled in crowded and often unsanitary conditions near the bottom of steamships with few amenities, often spending up to two weeks seasick in their bunks during rough Atlantic Ocean crossings.

WHAT COULD GO WRONG? Maryland’s largest school district closes for Muslim holiday

By Kyle Olson

Striking a blow for “fairness,” Maryland’s largest school district will be closed for a Muslim holiday next fall.

The Montgomery County Board of Education voted 6-2 Tuesday to cancel classes on the Islamic holy day of Eid al-Adha next school year. More than 156,000 students are enrolled in the suburban Washington, D.C. district, according to Fox Baltimore. It will likely fall on Monday, September 12.

Board member Jill Ortman-Fouse believes it’s about fairness.

I think this is outrageous. Political correctness is infringing on nearly every facet of our daily lives.

Remembering Grandpa and all of the other heroes on Veteran's Day

This is my grandfather, who served twice in the U.S Navy, first in the 1920s and then again during World War II, volunteering even though he had five kids at home to support. Or perhaps because he had five kids at home to support (<sarc>). A child of the Depression, Grandpa built his family's two-story house by hand, himself.

The picture below is Grandpa on Guam in 1945. He was then serving on the destroyer the USS Ellet.

At right is one of his ribbon commendations after a series of actions including the Battle of the Philippines, the invasion of Guam and Saipan.

My Dad told me that the Ellet had a proud history including involvement with the Doolittle Raid, the Battle of the Coral Sea, Guadalcanal, and later Iwo Jima. The Ellet also survived a near-miss from a Kamikaze and rescued several ships that had hit mines later in the war.

QOTD: "The Democrats are laughing, because if Republicans join Democrats as the party of amnesty, we will lose. And you know, I understand that when the mainstream media covers immigration, it doesn’t often see it as an economic issue. But I can tell you, for millions of Americans at home, watching this, it is a very personal economic issue, and I will say the politics of it would be very, very different if a bunch of lawyers or bankers were crossing the Rio Grande, or if a bunch of people with journalism degrees were coming over and driving down the wages in the press, then we would see stories about the economic calamity that is befalling our nation.

I will say for those of us who believe people ought to come to this country legally and we should enforce the law, we’re tired of being told, it’s anti-immigrant. It’s offensive. I am the son of an immigrant who came legally from Cuba, to seek the American dream, and we can embrace legal immigration while believing in the rule of law. And I would note, try going illegally to another country, try going to China or Japan. Try and go into Mexico, see what they do. Every sovereign nation secures its borders, and it is not compassionate to say we’re not going to enforce the laws, and we’re going to drive down the wages for millions of hard-working men and women." --Sen. Ted Cruz

INDICTMENT: 17 of Hillary Clinton’s Worst Email Lies

Word came late yesterday that the FBI has expanded its probe of Hillary Clinton's mishandling of classified files.

A former assistant director of the FBI, Tom Fuentes, notes that "it’s [likely] more than a preliminary inquiry; it sounds like a full-blown investigation ...When you have this amount of resources going into it ... I think it’s at the investigative level.”

Commenting at Yahoo News, commenter David proffers a fairly comprehensive list of Clinton's email lies, any one of which would have landed you or I a full-time gig at Leavenworth breaking rocks.

Scientists (and the government itself) unable to determine how many federal agencies actually exist

By Clyde Wayne Crews

As bureaucracy sprawls, nobody can say with complete authority exactly how many federal agencies exist.

The twice-annual Unified Agenda of Federal Deregulatory and Regulatory Actions, which compiles agency regulatory plans in the federal pipeline, listed 60 agencies in the Spring 2015 edition, a count that can vary slightly from report to report. The Fall 2014 edition that also contained many agencies’ Regulatory Plan also listed 60.

The Administrative Conference of the United States lists 115 agencies in the appendix of its “Sourcebook of United States Executive Agencies, but notes:
