How does Twitter keep missing this obvious opportunity to increase revenue?

I don't get it.

Twitter's stock has suffered from a cascading series of meltdowns since its IPO (see chart, below) as its revenue, growth in users, and related metrics have disappointed when compared to peers like Facebook and Google.

One financial analyst, on record as a Twitter short, describes it this way:
After this week's relief rally, Twitter closed at $17.82, almost 50% down from my initial short recommendation in July 2015. In part, I believe this is because I was fundamentally right about Twitter as a niche product for a select group of power-users such as journalists, media personalities and self-important adolescents...
What I haven't grasped for years, when I first wrote about this topic in 2014, is why Twitter ignores monetizing its incredible reach through embedded Tweets:

"I'M GOING TO DO A LOT OF THINGS": Trump Vows to Use Obama-Style Executive Actions to Bypass Congress

By Fred Lucas

Some conservatives are concerned over Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump’s vow to take the same path of bypassing Congress as President Barack Obama – even though the billionaire said his actions would be “much better” than Obama’s and done for “the right things.”

“Does Mr. Trump enjoy power? Is he more likely to prefer limited and constitutional or unlimited and unconstitutional power? Where is he likely to fall on that scale? I tend to think it’s with the maximum possible exercise of power,” Colin Hanna, president of the conservative public policy group Let Freedom Ring USA, told TheBlaze.

Trump, as president, might well use the executive powers to advance conservative causes, Hanna added, but he said there is more at stake.

THE ULTIMATE TIMELINE: The Diabolical "Fast and Furious" Scandal

By Renee Nal

Below is a painstakingly detailed timeline surrounding the events and the people involved in the gun-walking program which leaves this author with absolutely no doubt that the purpose of the Operation was to justify a so-called “assault weapons ban.”

In the wake of the revelation that Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was in possession of a .50-caliber rifle (that can “take down a helicopter“), a reminder is in order about the true nature of Operation Fast and Furious.

A PRICE ON EVERY AMERICAN'S HEAD: Concerns Mount Obama Paid $1.7 Billion in Ransom to Iran

By The Tower

There are growing concerns that the $1.7 billion payment the United States released to Iran last week amounted to a ransom for the freedom of American hostages held by the Islamic Republic, The Wall Street Journal reported (Google link) Thursday.

According to the Journal, the money was wired to Tehran at around the same time that the regime allowed thee American captives– Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, Marine veteran Amir Hekmati, and Cristian pastor Saeed Abedini– to depart the country on a Swiss air force jet. Two other Americans were also freed, though one chose to stay in Iran. In exchange, the U.S. released seven Iranians charged or convicted for smuggling prohibited items to Iran and other crimes. Washington also agreed not to pursue 14 other Iranians, including two wanted for transporting troops and weapons to Syria in support of dictator Bashar al-Assad.

QOTD: "...at least one of Clinton’s e-mails included sensitive information on spies.

“It takes a very conscious effort to move a classified e-mail or cable from the classified systems over to the unsecured open system and then send it to Hillary Clinton’s personal e-mail account,” said Raymond Fournier, a veteran Diplomatic Security Service special agent. “That’s no less than a two-conscious-step process.”

He says it’s clear from some of the classified e-mails made public that someone on Clinton’s staff essentially “cut and pasted” content from classified cables into the messages sent to her. The classified markings are gone, but the content is classified at the highest levels — and so sensitive in nature that “it would have been obvious to Clinton.” Most likely the information was, in turn, e-mailed to her via NIPRNet.

To work around the closed, classified systems, which are accessible only by secure desktop workstations whose hard drives must be removed and stored overnight in a safe, Clinton’s staff would have simply retyped classified information from the systems into the non-classified system or taken a screen shot of the classified document, Fournier said. “Either way, it’s totally illegal.”" --Paul Sperry

TRUMP: "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters"

By Sara Noble

There is nothing Trump can say or do to lose this momentum in the GOP primary. Anyone who attacks Trump gets pummeled.

Donald Trump said Saturday that he could shoot someone and wouldn’t lose voters.

“I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters,” Trump said at a campaign rally.

IRS WIPES ANOTHER HARD DRIVE: Sackless GOP Leaders Issue Sternly Worded Memo in Response

By Kathryn Watson

Leading members of Congress are ripping IRS officials for erasing a computer hard drive after a federal judge ordered it to be preserved.

“The destruction of evidence subject to preservation orders and subpoenas has been an ongoing problem under your leadership at the IRS,” Committee on House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Jason Chaffetz and Rep. Jim Jordan, wrote in a letter to IRS Commissioner John Koskinen late Thursday.

PARANOID: Fear, hate and conspiracy theories have destroyed Hillary Clinton’s campaign

By Daniel Greenfield

Hillary Clinton’s political future is caught between an old hippie and the FBI.

Under fire, her collapsing campaign is retreating into paranoia and conspiracy theories. The Intelligence Community Inspector General, an Obama appointee, is being accused of conspiring with Republicans. The rise of Bernie Sanders is being attributed to “dark money” and political enemies by Clintonworld.

Marco Rubio Says He Won't Reveal His Position on ObamaTrade Until After the Primaries

By Julia Hahn

With the Iowa caucus less than two weeks away, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) is refusing to answer questions about how he would vote on the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal until after voters have gone to the polls.

Rubio’s decision to conceal his position from voters comes after he previously declared that TPP would be a foundational “pillar” of his hoped-for presidency if elected.

According to a report from the Tampa Bay Times, Rubio told reporters on Jan. 7 that he will not reveal his position on the very trade deal he voted to fast-track until May 18th— two months after Super Tuesday.

QOTD: ...the next president will immediately be confronted by the “fourth branch of government”— the administrative state...

...With Donald Trump as the front-runner, [whether he would go to war with the administrative state is a question] he needs to answer. He has recently extolled his ability to work with people and cut deals. He has decried the gridlock in Washington. The problem with that mentality is that if you are looking for efficiency instead of principle, as many businessmen are often inclined to do, the path to least resistance is to work with the administrative state instead of going to war with it. And that would render the presidency worthless, especially following Obama’s fundamental transformation of an already-imbalanced administrative state.

Trump has captured the minds of many conservatives with his promises to enforce our immigration laws and sovereignty. But if he is committed to cutting deals in order to avoid gridlock, nowhere will his agenda be rendered more worthless than in the realm of immigration enforcement." --Daniel Horowtiz

OBAMA ARMED EL CHAPO WITH .50 CAL: Media Ignore Yet Another Fast and Furious Outrage

By Roger Aronoff

The liberal media avoid reporting on President Obama’s many scandals at any cost, and Fast and Furious is no exception. Despite the media’s studied avoidance of these scandals, their impact continues. When Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents discovered that a weapon from Fast and Furious was found in Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s Mexican hideout, there was virtual silence from the mainstream media.

FLINT: The Democrats' Filthy Water

By Daniel Greenfield

Mayor Dayne Walling, a Democrat, led a cheerful countdown at the Flint water treatment plant to press the button moving the city over to river water. Walling and Darnell Earley, the Democratic emergency manager, even raised glasses in a toast and drank the water to show that it was safe.

“It’s a historic moment for the city of Flint to return to its roots and use our own river as our drinking water supply,” Walling said. “The water quality speaks for itself.”

QOTD: "In the process of granting review of the decision, by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, invalidating the Obama administration’s immigration guidance granting de facto (albeit revocable) legal status to hundreds of thousands of undocumented residents of the United States, the Supreme Court unleashed a bombshell. Without any explicit request from the parties, the court added the following question for review: “Whether the Guidance violates the Take Care Clause of the Constitution, Art. II, §3.”

This is a stunning development. The clause states that “[The President] shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” This is the first time, to my knowledge, that the Supreme Court, maybe any court, has suggested that the Take Care Clause is justiciable (i.e., that the president’s (in)actions are subject to judicial review under the clause). I’m not sure that any Supreme Court litigant has ever even seriously pursued an argument under the clause." --David Bernstein

WHERE IS THE INDICTMENT???

By Karl Denninger

If anyone else had done any of what Hillary has done, they'd already be in the dock and probably already have had their trial.  They certainly wouldn't be running for President.

Fox News exclusively obtained the text of the unclassified letter, sent Jan. 14 from Intelligence Community Inspector General I. Charles McCullough III. It laid out the findings of a recent comprehensive review by intelligence agencies that identified "several dozen" additional classified emails -- including specific intelligence known as "special access programs" (SAP).

That is far more-serious than "garden-variety" classified data.

NEW HILLARY EMAILS CONFIRM: Democrats to Nominate First Openly Socialist Presidential Candidate

About two weeks ago, I wrote that we should "Stick a fork in Hillary, because she's done."

In that particular case, emails revealed that then-Secretary of State Clinton had instructed aides to strip classification headers from secure documents and send them over insecure channels. Which, by my count, was felony #336 committed by Ms. Clinton and her aides, who conspired to co-mingle State Department, Clinton Foundation transactions, and related criminal activity using a private email server that operated outside public scrutiny.

Today's news really does mean the demise of Clinton's campaign. The intelligence community's inspector general reported to Congress that he "had discovered “several dozen” classified emails, including messages containing what’s known as 'special access programs' (SAP) information":

FLASHBACK AUGUST 2015: "Sarah Palin Endorses Donald Trump After He Promises To Give Her Power, Relevancy"

Today's report that Sarah Palin has endorsed Donald Trump appears to be somewhat dated.

On August 14th of last year, Kit O'Connell reported that Palin had endorsed Trump "[after he] recently promised to give ... Palin a Cabinet-level position in his administration."
