Probably one of the earliest lessons most people learn in life is, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.” Nobody likes a hypocrite, and when you apply a standard to someone else, don’t expect much sympathy when that same standard gets applied to you.

Take Judge Merrick Garland, Barack Obama’s pick to replace Justice Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court. We’ve heard a lot recently from the president’s cheerleaders about who Judge Garland is.

THE OBJECTIVE STANDARD: Ted Cruz for President

I haven’t said much about the 2016 U.S. presidential race, and I probably won’t say much more about it after this article, as I want to focus on more fundamental philosophic issues. But I’d like to say a few words about why I unequivocally support Ted Cruz for president and why I think all liberty loving Americans should as well.

Although not all of Cruz’s ideas are grounded in reality, and although some of them are dangerously false, Cruz regards ideas as important, and he has a body of principles that guide his thinking on political matters. Chief among these is his recognition of the fact that the U.S. Constitution is, as he puts it, “the supreme law of the land” and that the job of the president is to uphold and enforce it. “I will defend the Constitution—all of it,” promises Cruz.

Of course, I and other lovers of liberty take issue with Cruz about what the Constitution means in certain areas and about how best to enforce it. But many of Cruz’s ideas in this regard are substantially if not entirely good. Here are some representative instances (all quotations are Cruz’s own words unless otherwise noted):

Management at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers in California selected and coached employees on exactly what to tell investigators about wait time manipulation, according to new inspector general reports.

According to two whistleblowers, management handpicked medical support assistants and told them what to tell the Veterans Health Administration Inspection Team, which visited the San Diego medical center in May, 2014, following the wait time manipulation scandal which rocked the Phoenix VA.

ENDLESS CONCESSIONS: How Barack Obama Continues to Empower the World's Most Dangerous Terror State

For the last several weeks the administration has been working on a plan to provide Iran with new non-nuclear sanctions relief, above and beyond what's required under the nuclear deal. The new concession involves giving Iran access to the U.S. financial system and the U.S. dollar. Reporters started sniffing around the story mid-month, then the AP managed to confirm some of the details, then the administration publicly no-commented while privately leaking details to its validators, then finally this morning the AP locked down most of the rest of the plan [a].

SURPRISE! "Grassroots" Effort to Push $15 Minimum Wage Actually a Massive Astroturf Campaign Funded by SEIU

Critics are pointing to a financial disclosure report as evidence that the self-proclaimed grassroots movement Fight for $15 was actually orchestrated by a major labor union.

The Fight for $15 movement has fought since 2012 to raise the national minimum wage to $15 an hour. The movement has seen several successes on the local level from across the country. It has been marketed as a grassroots rise of low-wage workers, but the movement is highly paid by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), according to a recent federal expenditure report.

“SEIU’s latest financial disclosure once again exposes the remarkable degree to which the ‘Fight for $15’ campaign is bought and paid for by big labor bosses trying to stay relevant in the 21st century,” America Rising Squared Executive Director Brian Rogers said in a statement provided to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Media Finding it Harder and Harder to Ignore Hillary's Metastasizing Scandals

Hillary Clinton’s email scandal keeps on growing, with new revelations that offer more justification for an indictment. Yet the mainstream media have long maintained that Mrs. Clinton is not the target of the two ongoing FBI investigations, and they seem very uninterested in the latest evidence to be revealed.

However, a grand jury may be forthcoming. “My sources tell me that the Justice Department is close to empaneling a grand jury and deciding whether to grant statutory immunity to Huma Abedin, Hillary’s closest adviser,” writes ^[1] Ed Klein for NewsMax. Klein is a former foreign editor of Newsweek, and was editor-in-chief of The New York Times Magazine from 1977 to 1987. “That things have gotten this far in the investigation indicates that FBI director James Comey is moving inexorably toward recommending to Attorney General Loretta Lynch that Hillary be indicted,” added Klein.

GRIDLOCK IN NYC SO HILLARY CAN GET A $1,200 HAIRCUT: A Female Reader Responds

Hillary Clinton's oversized motorcade gridlocked Manhattan traffic this week so she could, eh, get a coiffe.

Looks like the cut and color cost a mere $1,200. But she's for the little people!

Hillary Clinton’s entourage — four big black cars plus her top aide Huma Abedin — was spotted outside Bergdorf Goodman on Wednesday morning waiting as the presidential hopeful got her $600 haircut.

According to one witness, “Hillary’s entourage was blocking traffic early this morning, and waiting as Hillary got her hair done before heading up to do an event at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.”

Clinton gets her hair done at the John Barrett Salon by John Barrett personally, who we previously reported charges $600 for a haircut, plus an extra $600 for color.
