QOTD: "This afternoon Donald Trump gave a serious foreign policy speech, and spent a good part of it reminding Americans about Obama’s (and Hillary’s) abject international failures. Frankly, I was impressed. Of course, highlighting his determination to reverse the damage of the Obama years was the message I recommended to the Cruz campaign months ago. Instead, Cruz decided to get in the gutter with Trump, and only cheapened himself in the process.

I suppose it’s fair to say this change of tone means Trump is looking beyond the convention to a battle royale with Hillary Clinton in the fall.

I WONDER WHAT THE CORPSE-MEN THINK? White House Spokes-hole Mocks Trump Over Mispronuncing a Word

By Sara Noble

The goal of the Democrat Party is to destroy all opposition. The socialist movement which the party has adopted and which has been furthered by Barack Obama succeeds in large part by defaming and belittling opponents, Alinsky-style.

It is all about transforming our values and building a nation with one-party and one culture. Barack Obama set out to destroy the Republican party, Conservatives, and traditional America and his party has adopted his belief system and his style.

Today, the media and the Democrats proved once again that this is who they are now.

TOO BAD, SO SAD: Suit Alleges Al Jazeera America Lost $585 Million in Two Years

By Don Irvine

Al Jazeera America, the ratings-challenged cable news network that shut down two weeks ago, and which was owned by the Qatari government, was hit with a lawsuit by one of its former employees who alleges among other things that the network lost $585 million in 2013 and 2014.

According to The New York Times, Anand Gupta, the former executive vice president of finance, filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in Manhattan charging the network with denying him a promised promotion and salary increase because of racial discrimination.

Bonus QOTD: "A judge has decided that the Trump University lawsuit will go to trial. This is bad news for Trump as it gives media fodder to the Democrats. The storyline is easy enough — Donald Trump took advantage of the little guy. The lawsuit involves fraud claims that will play right into the Democrats’ hands.

But the trial is also, through the discovery process, going to reveal things about Trump’s operations and business practices.

That makes it even more necessary for Donald Trump to release his tax returns now.

One way or another those returns are going to get out. The Republican Party’s voters and delegates have a right to see what landmines could be lurking there before handing Trump the nomination. The party would already have to deal with the Trump University law suit." --Erick Erickson

President Hillary Clinton

By Daniel Greenfield

Only Republicans can make President Hillary Clinton a reality.

On January, 20, 2017, President Hillary Clinton might just become a reality. With her face set in the tight unpleasant grimace that is the closest she can come to smiling, she will take the oath of office on a bible, her  Alinsky thesis or an Eleanor Roosevelt Ouija board vowing to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

If the bible doesn’t burst into flames on the spot, she will take office with one more lie on her stained conscience after a long career of them.

OOPS: Most Transparent Administration Ever Withheld Incriminating Hillary Emails From Federal Courts

It would seem that the only group interested in performing oversight of the Obama administration is an independent watchdog group, not the Republican-controlled Oversight committees in Congress.

Those committees appear to be either complicit, incompetent or (more likely) both.

Instead, we are left to groups like Judicial Watch (an organization that I have financially supported in the past thanks to my generous readers) to perform oversight on the most lawless administration in modern American history.

QOTD: "... the race for the Republican nomination will be determined by the 10 races left after Tuesday’s competition. That’s why Indiana will be such an important test when it votes next week. Nobody knows whether Trump or Cruz will win that state. If Trump wins Indiana, he is probably set to do well in remaining contests. “If Cruz wins Indiana, that could signal a shift leading to Trump losing up to 8 of the 10 remaining contests.”

There is one ironic footnote to the Northeastern Primary. The very process that Trump claims is rigged against him will once again work to his benefit. His share of the delegates won on Tuesday will almost certainly exceed his share of the vote. Up to this point, Trump has earned 28 percent more delegates than his pro rata share of the vote would deem appropriate." --Scott Rasmussen

IN NEW YORK CITY: Rights are for the Rich, Not the People

By Institute for Legislative Action

Somewhere, Big Tim Sullivan might be laughing. Over 100 years after the enactment of New York City’s handgun licensing law (commonly referred to as the Sullivan Act), the measure is still working as the political boss intended. That is to say, it is ensuring that New Yorkers who are well-connected, either by status or more nefarious channels, are able to arm themselves with handguns, while average residents remain at the mercy of the criminal element.

QOTD: "The Republican Establishment, the Democrats, and the mainstream media all want us to believe that Cruz cannot win. It’s a false narrative being built for different reasons. For the Republicans, the fear of a Cruz Presidency is practically debilitating to them. Many are coming to grips with the idea that they’d rather rebuild in four years from a Trump loss in the general election than face being exposed for the big government crony capitalist moderates that they are if Cruz wins the White House. The Democrats would much rather have Hillary Clinton face Trump because he’s the only candidate who is more corrupt and less likable than she is. The media backs the Democrats. All anti-conservative weapons are being pointed squarely at Cruz.

Here’s the reality. If Cruz can win Indiana and stay close or even beat Trump in California, it’s virtually impossible for Trump to get 1,237 delegates on the first ballot. If it goes to a second ballot, Cruz’s chances of getting to 1,237 are much higher than Trump’s. New York didn’t change that. Trump’s upcoming victories in the Northeast states on Tuesday won’t change that, either. Indiana will decide whether the race continues. After that, California will decide the outcome." --JD Rucker

QOTD: "Cruz won at least 65 of the 94 delegates up for grabs Saturday (and he may have won more, but Kentucky's 25 delegates haven't revealed their leanings). The Texas senator has so thoroughly dominated the fight to send loyalists to the national convention that if front-runner Donald Trump fails to clinch the nomination on the first ballot, Cruz is well-positioned to surpass him — and perhaps even snag the nomination for himself — when delegates are free in subsequent convention rounds to vote for whomever they want...

...If Trump can dominate the remaining 15 primaries and acquire mandatory support from 1,237 delegates, he'll secure the nomination automatically. And polls show he has an edge in Indiana's crucial May 3 primary, where 57 delegates will be apportioned, and that he's pulling away in California — the biggest prize of the entire primary season — where 172 delegates will be assigned in a June 7 primary.

In the meantime, Cruz has owned the secondary battle to elect loyalists to the convention and can only work to limit Trump's gains over the next six weeks of primaries. Republican activists that tend to run to become delegates and vote in those obscure contests are typically more aligned with Cruz." --Kyle Cheney

RAY MABUS AND BARACK OBAMA: Gutting the U.S. Military From Within

By Dr. Craig Luther

President Obama came into office in 2009 promising "transformation" and he has delivered on that promise. Over the past 7 1/2 years we've witnessed billion dollar deficits and the establishment of a highly politicized and inexorably failing health care system ("Obamacare"); the "weaponization" of government agencies (think, IRS, EPA, DOJ) to intimidate and attack his political opponents; the calculated and feckless decline of American power and influence throughout the world; relentless redistributionist policies; and the president's support (often with a wink and a nod) of thuggish (and sometimes violent) radical groups like "Occupy Wall Street" and "Black Lives Matter." As a result, America is "on edge" -- socially, racially, economically -- as it hasn't been for decades. Indeed, many have reached the sobering insight that America's best days may now be behind her.

CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT THE REAL ISSUES? The Number One Threat to Our National Security

By Richard Larsen

The discourse on the presidential race has devolved to a point that the most pressing issues seem totally lost in the verbal brawls between candidates. The economic threats and risks to the republic should be the centerpiece of the campaign, for both parties, rather than relegated to a footnote to their public statements.

We have nearly $19 trillion in debt now as a nation. Eight years ago when it was $8 trillion, then candidate Barack Obama denounced the fiscal profligacy of such exorbitant debt, only to more than double it during his two terms. Even Hillary Clinton called it a “threat to our national security.” Why is this threat hardly even mentioned during this campaign?

Action Comics for the Modern Office Worker!!

I have no idea what our summer intern is drinking, but I'll have a double, please.

When he arrived, the president was greeted at the airport by the governor of Riyadh, and the event was ignored by Saudi TV. This is theft from the taxpayers. Sorry. I know your union “negotiated” the pensions with politicians which got money from your union but it is just stealing with the veneer of bureaucratic legitimacy. You know it. We know it.

The median household income (total) in Illinois is $54,916.

QOTD: "Hillary Clinton had a man sent to jail for uploading a video about Mohammed. What do you think she’ll do [as President] to even more vocal critics of Islam? How long will it be until a new Supreme Court decides that a Mohammed cartoon is “shouting fire in a crowded theater” and not protected by the Constitution?

On gun control, Hillary Clinton managed to combine an attack on both of the first two amendments of the Bill of Rights by insisting, “We cannot let a minority of people... hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.” What would she do to prevent them from holding that viewpoint? Or any other viewpoints that she doesn’t think people should be allowed to hold?

If you thought that conservatives were targeted under Obama, imagine what will happen under the woman who blamed all her problems, including her husband’s infidelity, on a “vast right-wing conspiracy”. Barack Obama is surrounded by radical leftists. Hillary Clinton’s circle however is filled with political thugs like David Brock and Sidney Blumenthal who channel her worst paranoid tendencies." --Daniel Greenfield

THE VERY BEST OF HANDS: State Dept. Hack Who Issued Visas to 9/11 Hijackers Still Employed by State Dept.

Writing at PJ Media, Nicholas Ballasy passes along a story that -- in a sane world -- would startle regular Americans and merit front page headlines around the country. But, given the legendary incompetence of Democrat administrations, it's not and it won't. To wit:
The State Department official who issued visas to many of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorists is still employed by the federal government...

...[A] former head of the visa section at the U.S. Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, told PJM that Shayna Steinger approved 11 of the visas granted to the 19 9/11 hijackers. Fifteen received their visas at the Jeddah consulate.

Page 7 of the 9/11 Commission report states that “one consular officer issued visas to 11 of the 19 hijackers.” Those visas were reportedly approved between the years 1999 and 2001.
