EXPLOSIVE TESTIMONY: Everything Barack Obama Told You About the IRS Scandal is a Lie

Testifying before Congress today, Attorney Cleta Mitchell shredded the Obama administration over IRS-gate, accusing it of committing a variety of high crimes and misdemeanors.

“The IRS scandal is not over. It is continuing to this day. And the Department of Justice investigation is a sham. It is a nonexistent investigation,” a high-powered Washington attorney testified before Congress Thursday morning... Mitchell, who represents many tea-party groups, blasted President Obama’s claim on Sunday that there is no IRS scandal, and his insistence that there was “not even a smidgen of corruption” in the agency’s targeting of conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status.

“The IRS scandal is not just a bone-headed bunch of bureaucrats in some remote office, contrary to what the president of the United States told the American people ... the IRS targeting of conservative groups was politically motivated because the direction came from “political elites in Washington — not in Cincinnati, but Washington.”

The attorney said she knew as far back as October of 2011 that the targeting was being guided by Washington, because when she contacted the Cincinnati IRS agent assigned to one of her clients and offered to try to help smooth the application process, she said she was told, “Oh, there’s a task force in Washington; we can’t do anything until we hear back from Washington.”

Mitchell said the IRS, under Obama, took what had been for decades a process of reviewing applications for exempt status that 4(01) or 501(c)(4) organization that could be expected to take three to four weeks and “converted that process into one that took three to four years, and in some cases is still not over.”

Former federal prosecutor Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., also took dead aim at Obama’s claim that there was no corruption in the IRS targeting conservative groups, especially in the tax-exempt division formerly head by Lois Lerner. He also referred to the fact that investigators have not interviewed clients represented by either Mitchell or Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel, American Center for Law and Justice, who also testified.

“How can the president say there’s not a smidgen of criminality when Lois Lerner invoked the 5th Amendment, 41 witnesses haven’t been interviewed – including the two that are here right now? How can he possibly draw that conclusion?!” Gowdy demanded.

This came on the heels of Wednesday's testimony in which House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp shredded the President's "not a smidgen of corruption" lie:

Mr. Camp unveiled a June 14, 2012 email from Treasury career attorney Ruth Madrigal to key IRS officials in the tax-exempt department, including former director Lois Lerner.

The email cites a blog post about the political activity of tax-exempt 501(c)(4) groups and reads: "Don't know who in your organizations [sic] is keeping tabs on c4s, but since we mentioned potentially addressing them (off-plan) in 2013, I've got my radar up and this seemed interesting."

Interesting for sure. The IRS typically puts out a public schedule of coming regulations, and Mr. Camp noted that in this case "off-plan" appears to mean "hidden from the public."

So, Speaker Boehner and Chairman Issa, where are the subpoenas and interrogatories?

Where is the Select Investigative Committee?

Where the hell are you people doing up there? I mean, besides planning on giving the American people the royal boofoo with your Amnesty crap?

TICK TOCK: The Countdown To Government Confiscation Of Your Retirement Savings Has Begun

Writing at Zero Hedge, Nick Giambruno of Casey Research sounds the alarm on President Obama's new "MyRA" program.

Simply put, the new myRA program put forward by Obama is at best a sucker's deal… or worse, it's a first step toward the nationalization of private retirement savings... Even before the new myRA program was announced, there had been whispers about the need for the US government to assume some risk for US retirement accounts. That's code for forced conversion of private retirement assets into government bonds.

...With foreigners not buying as many Treasuries and the Fed tapering, the US government has been searching for new buyers of its unwanted debt. And this is where the new myRA program comes in.

In short, it's ostensibly a new way for people to save for retirement. Of course, you can only invest in government-approved investments—like Treasuries—which probably won't even come close to keeping up with the real rate of inflation. It's like Jim Grant says: "return-free risk."

In reality, a myRA doesn't really provide any significant new benefits over existing options. To me it just looks like a way for the US government to pass the hot potato on to unsuspecting Americans in exchange for their retirement savings.

The net effect is the funneling of more capital to Treasury securities and thus helping the US government finance itself.

...I believe myRA is a way to nudge the American people into gradually becoming more accustomed to government involvement in their private retirement savings.

It's incorrect to assume nationalization couldn't happen in the US or your home country. History shows us that it's standard operating procedure for a government in dire financial straits... In just the past six years, it's happened in some form in Argentina, Poland, Portugal, Hungary, and numerous other countries.

To me it's self-evident that most Western governments (including the US) have current debt loads and future spending commitments that all but guarantee that eventually—and likely someday soon—they will try to unscrupulously grab as much wealth as they can.

To put this news in context, consider that in late 2008 Democrats openly discussed the possibility of confiscating private retirement accounts in order to "strengthen and protect Americans’ 401(k)s, pensions, and other... plans".

SUPREME COURT JUSTICE: Don't Call Lawbreakers Lawbreakers

It would seem that the acts of wantonly breaking our immigration laws and violating U.S. national sovereignty don't qualify as illegal acts, at least in the view of one of our radical, hard left, activist Supreme Court Justices.

Sotomayor: Labeling Illegal Immigrants Criminals Is Insulting

Sotomayor, the first Hispanic on the U.S. Supreme Court, said she didn’t even know what an Ivy League college was when a friend suggested she apply. She wound up attending Princeton and Yale Law School.

On the Supreme Court since 2009, Sotomayor said it was tough at first as justices made references that went over her head. She said joining the high court amounted to joining an ongoing conversation among justices who had served for years... “I figure I may not be the smartest judge on the court but I’m going to be a competent justice,” she said.

Sotomayor was asked at a talk at Yale Law School later in the day about her use of the term “undocumented immigrants” rather than the traditional illegal alien. Sotomayor characterized the issue as a regulatory problem and said labeling immigrants criminals seemed insulting to her.

“I think people then paint those individuals as something less than worthy human beings and it changes the conversation,” Sotomayor said.

Hey, La Raza: no one's painting those individuals as something less than human. We're calling them illegal aliens because they broke our laws. You know, the same laws you took a freaking oath to uphold and protect.

This is the problem with the radical left: they think they can pick and choose the laws they want to enforce. In the end, however, lawlessness begets lawlessness. And when people like this -- presumably the very authorities upon whom the law rests -- belittle the legal system or, worse, ignore it, they are unraveling the fabric that holds the civil society together.

Sotomayor and Obama are, in a subtle way, fomenting anarchy. Because when people believe that even their president and the highest court in the land can simply disregard the written law, they'll figure they can too.

Such behavior is amoral and deeply malevolent.

ALLEN WEST: Speaker Boehner, find the courage to establish a Benghazi select committee

Guest post by Allen West

This morning I had a chance to visit with a former colleague, someone for whom I have the utmost respect, Virginia Representative Frank Wolf. Rep. Wolf is the author of House Resolution 36, which calls for a Benghazi select committee with subpoena powers to formally and singularly focus on the incidents surrounding the US Consulate attack in Benghazi Libya.

Rep. Wolf shared with me today that he now has 182 cosponsors, all from the House GOP. One has to ask if the Democrats are more aligned with their political party or truth? The 182 cosponsors represent approximately 80 percent of the House Republican conference, and according to former Speaker Dennis Hastert, meet the standard of the “Hastert Rule,” a majority of the majority. Yet this piece of legislation is blocked from being brought to the House floor for a vote.

Rep. Wolf and I mused — actually we both became infuriated — considering how in the State of New Jersey Democrats have established a select committee and are pursuing subpoenas against Governor Chris Christie over traffic lanes being closed. Is it possible that traffic lane closures are more important than the abandonment, murder, and lying that hangs like a dark cloud over the events of September 11, 2012? Have we become so degraded that we do not see the utterly despicable hypocrisy of the Democrats in New Jersey and the liberal progressive media?

Over the weekend, we witnessed the arrogant dismissal of President Obama, who has already referred to Benghazi as a “phony scandal,” as he chided Bill O’Reilly, stating that Benghazi, among other nefarious actions, are just talking points driven by Fox News. The belligerence of President Obama has been enabled by a House GOP leadership reluctant to stop the diluted process of five different committees who must ask for information by way of FOIA requests. Just yesterday before a House Intelligence Committee hearing, Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, and others were asked when will someone be held responsible for the incidents surrounding Benghazi? The question was met with nearly 10 seconds of silence.

Losing an American Ambassador is not the new normal. Abandoning brave Americans to die is not the new normal. Supplying arms to Islamic terrorist and jihadists and running a covert weapons program is treasonous and represents high crimes and misdemeanors.

BOMBSHELL STUDY: Obamacare to expel millions from workforce

Guest post by Amy Payne

Obamacare moves people further away from jobs and shifts their health care costs to taxpayers. Good news or bad?

The White House took up defensive measures yesterday after the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released a new estimate: Obamacare will cause the equivalent of 2.3 million people to stop working.

“Double ouch,” said The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza, outlining exactly what bad news this is for Members of Congress who voted for Obamacare.

Why will people stop working or reduce their work hours? One word: Money.

Under Obamacare, the less money you make, the more money taxpayers give you for health insurance. So when it comes time to consider a promotion or a different job, people will consider whether that move would make them lose their Obamacare subsidies.

Heritage expert Drew Gonshorowski laid this out last year: “Obamacare ultimately discourages low-income individuals from trying to move into higher paying jobs.”

DEMOCRAT LOGIC COMIX: The Barstool Bandito

The Establishment Republican Apparatus officially unveiled its "principles" for bankrupting the country, Balkanizing it, and building a permanent Democrat majority. You may know it as "Amnesty".

The real story? Money. Personal avarice and ambition, for men like Boehner and Eric Cantor, outweigh any quaint notion of patriotism or love of country.

Bank turns a robbery into a marketing campaign. And it's fantastic!

Who says your typical banker doesn't have a good sense of humor?

A bandit made off with $26,000 of Idaho First’s money following a shootout with cops. A week later, the bank ran one of the funnier ads you’ll see from a financial institution.

January 10 was typically cold in McCall, Idaho, a small resort town with nary 3,000 residents. With temperatures lingering just below freezing, Nathan Davenport decided to hit the ATM ... outside Idaho First Bank. Wearing dark clothes and a mask, he proceeded to cut the bolts off the ATM’s door, then attached a chain to it and ripped the door free with his truck (a stolen truck, of course). Apparently this wasn’t Davenport’s first time hijacking an ATM. The caper took less than seven minutes, and Davenport split with cash totaling $26,120...

"The Most Dangerous Chart in the World"

That's what Toby Connor of GoldScents calls it.

Last month I warned about the bubble in the stock market, and what was going to happen when it popped. Make no mistake the chart of the S&P is the most dangerous chart in the world. When this parabolic structure collapses, it is going to bring down the global economy.

... I expect the Fed and the plunge protection team to go into full panic mode this weekend, come out Monday morning with guns blazing, and try to stop the selloff. Unfortunately this behavior is what has allowed this parabolic structure to develop. Every time the market has tried to correct over the last year the Fed has prematurely aborted the selloff...

...If on the other hand the selling pressure overwhelms the plunge protection team and starts to spiral out of control next week, then we are witnessing the breaking of the parabola and the end of this bull market...

...Whether the parabolic structure collapses next week or in two months we all know what the Feds response is going to be. They are going to reverse their taper decision and double or triple down on QE. The problem is that when a parabolic structure collapses it can't be put back together. My theory all along has been that when the stock market bubble pops the Fed would then completely destroy the dollar trying to pump it back up and that liquidity would then flow into the commodity markets instead of the broken parabola of the stock market and create another inflationary event similar to 2008.

There are a bunch more where that came from.

Gird your loins.

U.S. Temps in December and January Among Lowest in 30 Years; Portly Tree-Ring Grifters Hardest Hit

I wonder how the matched set of rather corpulent climate grifters are going to try to spin this particular news?

Yes, Virginia, it really has been a cold winter.

The winter months of December 2013 and January 2014 averaged over the contiguous 48 United States were the 3rd coldest Dec/Jan in the last 30 years...

Here’s a plot of the Dec/Jan averages for the last 41 years:
...An interesting feature is that 5 of the last 7 years have been below the 41-year average, which has happened only one other time in the 41-year period...

So, does the cold winter disprove global warming theory? No more than an unusually warm winter proves the theory. It’s just what we used to call “weather”.

Why are tree ring-based temperature "reconstructions" -- like those of Michael "Limp Hockey Stick" Mann -- so particularly galling? As the late John L. Daly explained, "The tree ring is a composite of [many] variables [including sunlight, pests, cloud cover, rainfall, and snow-packing], not merely of temperature. Therefore on the [scant] 15% of the planet covered by trees, their rings do not and cannot accurately record temperature in isolation from the other environmental variables."

Exactly. And it turns out some scientists are now warning we may be witnessing the onset of a new ice age, in which case the blubber of certain portly faux scientists may come in handy.

WHITE HOUSE TRIVIA: All of those dead bodies piling up from Benghazi and Fast & Furious? Those are on Fox

When confronted with rank propaganda like this, I really, really want to drop the f-bomb and other appropriate adjectives. But this is a family blog.

Not accustomed to being asked difficult questions about his failures in office, President Obama attacked Fox News host Bill O'Reilly during a pre-Super Bowl interview on Sunday for daring to demand answers about the Benghazi terrorist attack and the IRS targeting conservative groups.

O'Reilly said, "Your detractors believe that you did not tell the world it was a terror attack because your campaign didn't want that out. That's what they believe." Obama ranted in reply: "And they believe it because folks like you are telling them that." O'Reilly responded: "No, I'm not telling them that, I'm asking you whether you were told it was a terror attack."

Minutes later, while O'Reilly was asking about the IRS scandal, Obama tried to dismiss the topic: "Folks have, again, had multiple hearings on this. I mean, these kinds of things keep on surfacing in part because you and your TV station will promote them.

As the Conservative Tribune puts it:

Obama did in this interview what Obama has always done: Shift the blame to someone else. If something goes wrong in his presidency, it’s the fault of Republicans, racism, Fox News, or anything else that seems like a good scapegoat.

On Obama's desk, there must be a new riff on Truman's sign that reads:

THE BUCK STOPS ANYWHERE BUT HERE

Or:

THE BUCK STOPS WITH FOX NEWS

I don't have the appropriate words in my vocabulary to describe what I think of this kind of behavior.

You don't have to be Kreskin to see an IRS audit in her future

Rebecca Stewart, mother of two residing in Covington, Kentucky, somehow escaped the administration's censors during a live Google Hangout interview with the president. Her comments were absolutely brutal.

I’m probably not the only one whose had really a panicked experience lately trying to figure out if my 10-year-old son can continue with his specialist or not. I know that I can’t keep my plan — which I liked — but as I’m trying to figure out what to do going forward, I’ve spent weeks with days on the phone getting confidently delivered wrong answers, conflicting information.

It's becoming quite obvious to me that a lot of agencies, almost everyone I've talked to, are having a lot of trouble figuring out the rules. So I'm afraid that perhaps average Americans who haven't had the time or ability to do the legwork that I've been able to do are perhaps going to be blindsided by this... my question for you is what are you doing to fix this or simplify this?

The president stumbled through an answer saying someone from the White House would get back to her with answers to her questions and this time they'd be right. Of course, if they're not right, perhaps Obama will just unilaterally rewrite the law for the 16th time.

MIND-BLOWING: 45% of aliens apprehended crossing into the U.S.at the border have criminal records

Guest post by The Machiavellian

I finally came across the FY 2013 figures for the removal of illegal aliens and these numbers are mind numbing. If ever there was an argument against tolerating illegal immigration, this is it.

These numbers blow the mantra that “these are good people just trying to make a living” out of the water. It is an absolute falsehood that attempts to hide us from the truth. And, what is the truth?

In FY 2013, ICE removed 368,644 aliens. Of these, 133,551 were caught inside the United States. Eighty-two percent of this group were previously convicted of a crime. In other words, 109,511 aliens with criminal records were loosed upon the citizenry of the United States. If only good, hard working people looking to better themselves crossed our borders illegally, then how is this number even possible?

OKAY, NOW YOU CAN PANIC: Harvard Economist Withdraws All of His Money from Bank of America

Terry Burnham, former Harvard economics professor, author of “Mean Genes” and “Mean Markets and Lizard Brains,” provocative poster on this page and long-time critic of the Federal Reserve, argues that the Fed’s efforts to strengthen America’s banks have perversely weakened them.

Last week I had over $1,000,000 in a checking account at Bank of America. Next week, I will have $10,000.

Why am I getting in line to take my money out of Bank of America? Because of Ben Bernanke and Janet Yellen, who officially begins her term as chairwoman on Feb. 1.

Before I explain, let me disclose that I have been a stopped clock of criticism of the Federal Reserve for half a decade. That’s because I believe that when the Fed intervenes in markets, it has two effects — both negative. First, it decreases overall wealth by distorting markets and causing bad investment decisions. Second, the members of the Fed become reverse Robin Hoods as they take from the poor (and unsophisticated) investors and give to the rich (and politically connected). These effects have been noticed; a Gallup poll taken in the last few days reports that only the richest Americans support the Fed. (See the table.)

Why do I risk starting a run on Bank of America by withdrawing my money and presuming that many fellow depositors will read this and rush to withdraw too? Because they pay me zero interest. Thus, even an infinitesimal chance Bank of America will not repay me in full, whenever I ask, switches the cost-benefit conclusion from stay to flee.

Let me explain: Currently, I receive zero dollars in interest on my $1,000,000. The reason I had the money in Bank of America was to keep it safe. However, the potential cost to keeping my money in Bank of America is that the bank may be unwilling or unable to return my money.

They will not be able to return my money if:

OBAMANOMICS: Unions Trump Bondholders, Again

Guest post by Tyler Durden

First, the Obama administration showed during the course of the GM and Chrysler bankruptcy proceedings, that when it comes to Most Preferred Voter classes, some unsecured creditors - namely labor unions, and the millions of votes they bring - are more equal than other unsecured creditors - namely bondholders, and the zero votes they bring. Five years later we are about to get a stark reminder that under the superpriority rule of a community organizer for whom "fairness" trumps contract law any day, it is now Detroit's turn to make a mockery of the recovery waterfall. As it turns out, bankrupt Detroit is proposing to favor pension funds at roughly double the rate of bondholders to resolve an estimated $18 billion in long-term obligations, according to a draft of a debt-cutting plan reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

The breakdown to unsecured stakeholders would be as follows: 40% recovery for pension funds, 20% for unsecured bondholders - all this to the same pari class of unsecured creditors. Because just like in Europe when cashing out on CDS in insolvent nations is prohibited as it would suggest that the entire Eurozone experiment is one epic farce, regardless of how much "political capital" Goldman Sachs has invested in it, so in the US municipal creditors are realizing that in the worst case scenario, they will be layered first and foremost by all those whose votes are critical in keeping this crony administration in power.

According to the WSJ the plan calls for recovery to be divided among the unsecureds amounting to $4.2 billion, more than the originally planned $2 billion to settle claims which included about $11 billion in unsecured debt, including $6 billion in health and other benefits for retirees; $3.5 billion for retiree pensions; and about $530 million in general-obligation bonds.

Raping the 11-year olds Americans won't rape

Guest post by The Machiavellian

Last year two illegal aliens, both partners in a string of robberies in the Nashville are, were found guilty of a long string of robberies and the rape of an 11 year old girl.

The first criminal alien from El Savador was sentenced to 40 years for rape, kidnapping, and robbery.

His partner was found guilty of 41 charges, stemming from a string of robberies in South Nashville, which culminated in a rape of an 11-year old girl during one of their crimes. He was sentenced to 75 years in prison.

So... here we have a team of illegal aliens, brandishing guns, robbing homes in South Nashville over a three month period and -- in the process -- raping a child.

Yet there are still those who still condone and encourage the illegal invasion of millions of people across our borders. I can’t buy Sudafed with a license, but robbers, murderers, and rapists are allowed to cross our borders freely.

Only after they have harmed American citizens does the government do something. Think about that. It takes rape and murder for the feds to act.

First, we must control our borders. Secondly, only a limited number of highly vetted citizens from Latin and South America should be allowed to enter our nation.

Of course, for our side, that would dry up cheap labor. And for the Democratic-Marxist Party, that would frustrate their plan to change the ethnic makeup of America in order to increase the dependent classes that vote for them, depress wages, destroy the middle class and their bourgeoisie values of faith, hard work, private property, and capitalism.

They raped an 11 year old girl. Do you really want more of this?

REALITY TV: Watch as small company employees find out what Obamacare is doing to their coverage

"They call it the affordable health plan. There's nothing affordable about it. I can't afford it."

A local news station brings viewers inside one Pennsylvania company as the employees there learn about their new health care plans under Obamacare...

"Look at the numbers," says the reporter of two employees. "Jeff and Dave used to have a $1,250 deductible. Since Obamacare went into effect, it's now jumped 60 percent to $2,000. That's nothing compared to Brian, Kristi, and Judy who have kids. they are going to pay twice that, four grand." The reporter adds that co-pays are being increased, too.

"I don't know how President Obama thinks he's helping us because we can't afford this, we can't afford to pay these co-pays, to pay these deductibles on what we're making," says one of the workers.

Now pretend you're in the GOP Establishment.

Al Gore has a very special message for the citizens of Atlanta

The science is settled...

...Al Gore is a climate grifter.

As Anthony Watts notes, "There’s never been any assertion that climate didn’t change — the idea that somehow this is something new to the 21st century is absurd. And, as science itself has demonstrated through history, it is never settled, it is always searching for new information, retesting, and sometimes discarding old ideas. Saying the science is settled is as ridiculous as the famous quote attributed to Lord Kelvin who said in 1900 ‘There is nothing new to be discovered in physics now.'"

Thus far, I've identified three segments of the population that cling to the notion of anthropogenic (man-made) global warming: nitwits, criminals and Marxists. But I repeat myself.

I found a picture of the President's pen.

It's shiny, smudge-free and fast drying.

I trust every Democrat will receive one:

It's especially useful for signing 2,000-page bills after they're rushed to the floor, loaded with special interests and pork, which not a single person has read.

You know: the ones you have to pass to find out what's in 'em. We know what's in 'em all right.
