As Obama's Popularity Plummets, Liberal Hysteria Mounts

Dan from New York:

"The folks who ran a very smart presidential campaign in 2008 have left the defining of the Obama presidency to others, in this case people on the edge of insanity."

--  Obama's shrinking presidency, Richard Cohen, WaPo, 9/7/10

They're at it again. A sure sign of desperation.

If you don't like Obama, you're nuts.

Perhaps liberals should be excused because they have nowhere else to go. The "racism!" rant has run out of steam, and if they talked about his record it would be certain suicide.

Let's take our country back.   It's November or never, America.

Breaking: Newsweek's Howard Fineman Is a Birther!

Newsweak's numbskull-in-chief, Howard Fineman, appeared on PMSNBC the other day. If it hadn't been for Mark Levin's producer, no one would have even known, since the network's ratings are slightly behind airport radar and the test pattern on channel 4000.

Fineman's incoherent rant, transcribed here for your amusement, accused Rush Limbaugh and Levin of being... birthers. That's right. Let's listen in.

And then you have the health care law, which -- because Obama set it up in such a way that many of its important features don't come into play 'til 2013 or 2014 -- it's hard for voters to see immediate benefit from it. Ironically, one of the first immediate benefits is, uh, uhm, eh, is a category of things that Mitch Daniels and others are signing up for right now.

That's, that's what they're going to campaign on.

Meanwhile, the cooks of the world, Rush Limbaugh and, you know, Mark Levin, and these people are going to talking about birth certificates and Kenya and Christianity and that stuff, so.. .in the House, and in the Senate will try to keep the high ground (sic), while the others do the dirty work...

Now, Howard, let me tap you with the metaphorical clue hammer.

Levin is the head of Landmark Legal Foundation. He's a former Justice Department official. He's a Constitutional attorney who is helping to defend the states of Arizona and Virginia against the illegal machinations of the hard left administration apparatchiks. In other words, he's a patriot.

I've listened to every broadcast for years and he's never mentioned Obama's birth certificate. Never.

As for you Fineman, well, we know what you are. You're a writer with no readers, appearing on a network with no viewers, who has failed at pretty much everything he's done, with a huuuge chip on his shoulder and a brain-pan full of ignorant.

Because Levin and Limbaugh have never -- ever -- talked about birth certificates or Kenya. So something must be bugging you. Really eating away at your psyche. Messing with your thimble-sized brain.

So, Howard: why are you a birther?

World's Dumbest Blogger Sowing Fear and Panic in Democrat Ranks By Referring To... ... ...(drumroll)... ... ... 'Speaker Boehner'

At this point, I'd take an old tuna can over what we have now in the Speaker's seat. Gallup says voter sentiment has tilted (at least for the moment) to a, well, historic gap.

Republicans lead by 51% to 41% among registered voters in Gallup weekly tracking of 2010 congressional voting preferences. The 10-percentage-point lead is the GOP's largest so far this year and is its largest in Gallup's history of tracking the midterm generic ballot for Congress.

...Republicans usually turn out in higher numbers in midterm elections than do Democrats, and Gallup's likely voter modeling in the final weeks of an election typically reflects a larger GOP advantage than is evident among registered voters. The wide enthusiasm gaps in the GOP's favor so far this year certainly suggest that this scenario may well play itself out again this November....

One cautionary note: Democrats moved ahead in Gallup's generic ballot for several weeks earlier this summer, showing that change is possible between now and Election Day.

Oh noes, someone call Al "I Have a Scheme" Sharpton! We could have a Speaker Boehner!

Excuse, me sir -- can you tell me who blogs here?

Glenn Beck's Rally: How Many Were Really There?

Dan from New York:

Just when you thought "the media" couldn't make bigger fools of themselves, along comes their buffoonish treatment of the attendance at yesterday's Glenn Beck rally at the Lincoln Memorial. Most danced around the issue, falling back on the stock "thousands" or "tens of thousands" weasels. But there was one twit among them who spilled the beans. CBS went on the record: Glenn Beck Rally Attracts Estimated 87,000.

Fortunately, we have better ways to judge the size of the crowd than to rely on Dan Rather's news organization. MLK's famed 1963 "I Have a Dream" rally was held on the same ground, and the accepted figure is 250,000.

Judge for yourself. Do you think Beck drew less than half?

As an aside, the open field filled with people on the left was overgrown with trees and unavailable to spectators in 1963.

Oh, BTW, Sharpton's rally, which the clowns positioned as the anti-Beck rally, "attracted" 3,000. So much easier to count.

Update: Affirmative Action Crowd Estimates and It Was Like A Return To Jim Crow, or Like We Were In Nazi Germany.

Exclusive Transcript: Al Sharpton's 'I Have a Scheme' Speech, Keynote Address of the 8/28 'Restoring Dishonor' Counter Protest

Cub Reporter Biff Spackle files this report from Al Sharpton's 'Restoring Dishonor' counter-protest in Washington, DC.

RUSH TRANSCRIPT: The following is the text of the Reverend Al Sharpton's spoken speech, transcribed from my recording, in between rounds of beer pong in a DC bar.

###

I am happy to speak to you today in what will be recorded as the most bitter, self-serving speech in the history of our nation.

Two score and two months ago, a black American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, was elected President. That momentous day does not diminish the fact that most Americans are still quite racist. To acknowledge otherwise could negatively impact my cash flow, which is dependent upon hatred and divisiveness.

You see, one hundred and forty years after the Emancipation, we have made no progress whatsoever. All of the blood shed during the Civil War, all of the Civil Rights marches, all of the blacks elected to high office and who have achieved great material success in the United States, truly you must ignore all of these momentous milestones, because I am still heavily invested in grievance-mongering.

If I were to demand Charter Schools in every inner city school district, so that every child could have a chance to succeed, where would that leave me? Without the support of the teachers' unions, that's where!

If I were to demand an end to unlimited welfare, which breeds a culture of dependency and despondency, where would that leave me? Without swarms of single-parent families that populate my armies of illiteracy, crime and violence, that's where!

If I were to demand a return of prayer to school and the inclusion of faith as the moral foundation for our country's unity, as did this nation's founders, where would that leave me? Without the support of the secular, progressive media, that's where!

It would be fatal to my pocketbook if I were to acknowledge the great progress that has been made. So what I must do, what I will continue to do, is to sow division, to diminish this country's advances, to play the race card with every hand. Joining me in this effort: the once-proud NAACP, La Raza, LULAC, and other separatist front groups, many of them working covertly for foreign governments.

We have come to our nation's capitol to balkanize this country, to divide it into arbitrary segments of the abused and the abuser, whether real or not. Rich vs. poor, black vs. white, fat vs. thin, illegal immigrants vs. citizens, trial lawyers vs. doctors, Christians and Diamond Merchants vs. Muslims, and so on. Because once we find a scapegoat, we can demonize, polarize and destroy it.

It would be fatal for the nation's media to overlook the urgency of this moment. I have survived the Tawana Brawley debacle, various problems with the IRS, and that inconsequential "Kill the Jew" incident at Crown Heights, all with my dignity intact and my media credentials in good order. For Glenn Beck, you're willing to throw all of these qualifications away?

I can not turn back. There are those who ask me, "When will you be satisfied?" I can never be satisfied as long as the media needs a grievance-mongerer to trot out, no matter how shameful his past. I can never be satisfied until this country has broken apart into warring camps. In other words, I can never be satisifed until I find a way to make serious, serious money from race-baiting. And by serious, I mean ten million or more.

I say to you today, my friends in the media, even though I have become a walking punch-line (as evidenced by this tiny crowd), go back to your offices and report upon my message. Go back to The New York Times, CNN, The Washington Post, and MSNBC and promote my message of division, jealousy and hatred.

I say to you today, my friends in the media, even though we face difficulties -- most especially the fact that more and more people of every race, creed and color are learning the wisdom of the conservative message -- I still have a scheme.

I have a scheme that one day even more children will be forced into public schools with no choice in the matter.

I have a scheme that one day even more single-parent families will be created through unlimited welfare and publicly incentivized sloth.

I have a scheme that one day God will be completely removed from the public square, because faith is the enemy of the Statist.

I have a scheme today.

I have a scheme that one day I will have a multi-million dollar mansion in a lily-white, gated community like Jeremiah Wright's beautiful home.

I have a scheme that involves wealth redistribution, with much of the wealth being redistributed to me.

I have a scheme today.

I have a scheme that one day this nation will be completely Balkanized, with dozens of ethnicities, races, colors, religions and creeds all warring for their slice of the public trough.

Let race-baiting sing from the above-the-fold page A-1 of the New York Times!

Let race-baiting sing from the hallowed mouth of Katie Couric!

Let race-baiting sing from the President himself and his minions!

And when this happens, when we allow race-baiting to sing its siren song, when we let it sing from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that great day of which Alinsky spoke. When this capitalist and imperialist society finally collapses, replaced with an authoritarian regime of the kind for which Thomas Friedman has pined. On that day, we will be able to survey the Tower of Babel society that we have created and revel in the words Statists have longed for, "The Constitution is Dead At Last. Dead at Last! The United States is Dead At Last!"

Legacy Media Coverage Roundup of Restoring Honor Rally -- All Race-Baiting, All the Time

NewsBusters' Noel Sheppard says that this picture is "guaranteed to drive the media crazy."

You ain't kidding, Noel.

The New York Times' Race-Baiter-in-Chief (Bob Herbert) decries the loss of civility in "America Is Better Than This":
For all of his celebrity, Mr. Beck is an ignorant, divisive, pathetic figure... Beck is a provocateur who likes to play with matches in the tinderbox of racial and ethnic confrontation. He seems oblivious to the real danger of his execrable behavior.

There's a loss of civility all right, and it comes from the race-baiters like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Bob Herbert. Bob forgot to mention MLK's niece, who spoke at the event, or conservatives' undying love and support of Lt. Col. Allan West and Marco Rubio. You see, Bob: we don't give a damn about race, religion, creed or skin pigmentation. We care about our nation. Our children. The Constitution. And its limits on government, not man. But you're an ideologue, Herb, so we don't expect you could possibly understand these difficult concepts.

• CNN leads with "NAACP president slams Glenn Beck at 'Reclaim the Dream' rally":
NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous, speaking at the "Reclaim the Dream" rally Saturday, castigated the message of the Glenn Beck rally across town in Washington.

Race-baiting is a booming business for the likes of the once proud NAACP. That's why they market the status quo. Consider their assertion: the country elected a black president, yet the majority of Americans are somehow racists? The NAACP believes that school choice is evil and and that welfare is great for the urban poor. But the Democrats' Ponzi schemes are collapsing as we speak. And once the urban poor realize they've been sold a bill of goods by the Democrat Party, well, it ain't gonna be pretty.

• ABC's sarcastic subhead reads "Glenn Beck's 'Restoring Honor' Rally to Celebrate Martin Luther King"
...Sharpton and several other African American leaders have blasted Beck and the conservative right for distorting the legacy of the civil rights movement.

"What they are trying to do is divert the nation from the agenda of Martin Luther King to their agenda, and I think that's hijacking his legacy," said Rev. Carlton W. Veazey, minister of the National Baptist Convention and president of Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice...

"What they have said all the time, have been trying to divide people, trying to exclude people," Veazey said. "For him to lead a rally with that kind of attitude taints the whole affair."

Really? Far as I can tell, the only people trying to divide folks are the separatist front groups: the NAACP, La Raza, and their malevolent ilk.

• The Associated Press is segmenting the crowd into various races (why not gender or religion?).
Conservative commentator Glenn Beck and tea party champion Sarah Palin appealed Saturday to a vast, predominantly white crowd on the National Mall to help restore traditional American values and honor Martin Luther King's message. Civil rights leaders who accused the group of hijacking King's legacy held their own rally and march.

Of the first twelve paragraphs of the AP story, six were spent focusing on pro race-baiter Al Sharpton and his tiny 'protest'.

• The Washington Post, true to form, offers Al ("Kill the Jew") Sharpton roughly equivalent coverage with the major rally, though one attracted 2,500 and the other attracted 500,000... a million? Dana Milbank's prominent feature article covers the same, familiar ground as Bob Herbert's. In fact, I'm not sure why these legacy media columnists are all needed. Since their columns frequently echo one another, their salaries would appear to be utterly redundant:
...I was reminded of Beck's affection for deception as he hyped his march on Washington -- an event scheduled for the same date (Aug. 28) and on the same spot (the Lincoln Memorial) as Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic march 47 years ago. Beck claimed it was pure coincidence, but then he made every effort to appropriate the mantle of the great civil rights leader.

Beck as the fulfillment of Dr. King's dream? And you thought "War of the Worlds" was frightening....

...Beck has spoken on air about "radical black nationalism" in the White House and "Marxist black liberation theology" influencing Obama. He has further determined that the New Black Panthers have "ties to the White House in a myriad of ways" and are part of Obama's "army of thugs." ...

...To his followers, he says: "We are the people of the civil rights movement."

All that is left is for Beck to drive around town by ambulance.

• Politico believes that the crowd numbered less than 100,000, while the AP said it numbered in the "tens of thousands".
Holding her BlackBerry up with one hand, she lamented that The Associated Press had only pegged attendance as "tens of thousands."

Asked if there were more than 100,000 people there, Palin said: "Oh yeah."

Read the photos and weep, twits.

Here's a little cheat sheet for legacy media

These rallies focus on one fundamental concept: forcing government to honor our highest law, the United States Constitution -- the greatest framework for government ever created.

We don't give a damn about race, religion, creed, skin pigmentation or body odor (yes, I mean you, Ed Schultz), as evidenced by our rock solid support of patriots from every culture and walk of life.

We have the biggest tent of all: the freedom tent, in which government is controlled, not the individual.

You see, dimwit media, we believe in the rule of law. The Constitution. The Declaration. And you are its enemies. And very soon now you will become nothing more than a footnote to a footnote to a passing reference in an elementary school history book.

Update: Subliminal Deception.

Update II: JP writes:

Thanks for your post. I should no longer be appalled by anything the Baltimore Sun fails at... but I still am. Today's Sun had NO story and NO mention/blurb on Page 1 of yesterday's rally. On Page 2, they had about 1/2 page and used the "predominantly white crowd" phrase and "tens of thousands" attended, with a photo showing The National Mall overflowing, perhaps with as many as who attended MLK's speech and Marian Anderson's singing.

Then I noticed that they deliberately gave NO crowd numbers for the Rev. Al, and neglected to mention that it was a "predominantly black crowd". It was story written by a Sun reporter, but she apparently studied the AP article first.

The news is almost dead.

I'm so confused by Eric Holder: waterboarding is torture, but broiling the skin of prisoners with a heat ray gun is just peachy

Famed bodybuilding guru Joe Weider used to have an exercise regimen called the Muscle Confusion Principle. His theory was that you could force your body to grow faster if you continually changed your workouts; by avoiding cyclical repetition, your body would be forced to adapt.

I'm thinking that Eric Holder borrowed the concept for his Department of 'Justice'. The Eric Holder Legal Confusion System™ appears to do the opposite of what you'd expect. Like pursuing Arizona for its enforcement of immigration law. Or dropping a slam-dunk voter intimidation case against members of the New Black Panther Party. Or attempting to try the 9/11 masterminds in civilian courts -- at Ground Zero. Et cetera.

If I told you that the Holder DOJ is funding a "heat beam ray", the application of which on prisoners many believe is "tantamount to torture", you'd dismiss it in a moment. After all, these are the same rocket scientists who believe waterboarding is torture (despite the fact that our own personnel are subjected to it in SERE School as a matter of course). But it's true -- Tampa Bay Online reports that Los Angeles will soon receive heat ray guns from the DOJ to use on prisoners.

A device designed to control unruly inmates by blasting them with a beam of intense energy that causes a burning sensation is drawing heat from civil rights groups who fear it could cause serious injury and is "tantamount to torture."

The mechanism, known as an "Assault Intervention Device," is a stripped-down version of a military gadget that sends highly focused beams of energy at people and makes them feel as though they are burning. The Los Angeles County sheriff's department plans to install the device by Labor Day, making it the first time in the world the technology has been deployed in such a capacity... The natural response when blasted - to leap out the way - would be helpful in bringing difficult inmates under control and quelling riots, the sheriff said.

..."The neat thing with this device is you experience pain but you are not injured by it," Osborne said. "It doesn't injure your skin, the beam doesn't have the power to do that."

...The device was made specifically for the sheriff's department by Raytheon Missile Systems. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said its $750,000 cost was paid for by a Department of Justice technology grant.

The ACLU claims (PDF):

While the device was being tested by the Air Force, a miscalibration of the device's power settings caused five airmen in its path to suffer lasting burns, including one whose injuries were so severe that he was airlifted to an off-base burn treatment center.

According to a 2008 report by physicist and less-lethal weapons expert Dr. Juergen Altmann, "the ADS provides the technical possibility to produce burns of second and third degree . . . over considerable parts of the body, up to 50% of its surface," and "without a technical device that reliably prevents re-triggering on the same target subject, the ADS has the potential to produce permanent injury or death."

I'm so confused.

Waterboarding is torture, but broiling the skin of prisoners is just peachy?

Could someone help me out here?

Oh -- and where's legacy media, breathlessly trumpeting thousands of news stories nationwide about Obama's imperialistic torture regime?

Sacrilege: The Obama-Holder 'Justice' Department Won't Pursue Trial of USS Cole Bomber, Plus: a Memo to Ace Regarding the NRSC

The Washington Post's Peter Finn reports that the Obama administration has decided not to prosecute the apparent terrorist mastermind behind the USS Cole bombing in 2000. Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri had been accused of orchestrating the attack that killed 17 American sailors aboard the Cole ten years ago.

The decision at least temporarily scuttles what was supposed to be the signature trial of a major al-Qaeda figure under a reformed system of military commissions. And it comes practically on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the attack, which killed 17 sailors and wounded dozens when a boat packed with explosives ripped a hole in the side of the warship in the port of Aden.

In a filing this week in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the Justice Department said that "no charges are either pending or contemplated with respect to al-Nashiri in the near future."

..."It's politics at this point," said one military official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss policy. He said he thinks the administration does not want to proceed against a high-value detainee without some prospect of civilian trials for other major figures at Guantanamo Bay...

...With the 10th anniversary of the Cole bombing approaching on Oct. 12, relatives of those killed in the attack expressed deep frustration with the delay... "After 10 years, it seems like nobody really cares," said Gloria Clodfelter, whose 21-year-old son, Kenneth, was killed on the Cole.

A Memo to Ace

Much as I enjoy the verbal stylings of Ace, he is dead wrong when he claims a "third party is the only way" because a particular funding arm of the Republican Party (in this case, the NRSC) went off the reservation.

Bull***.

If you want to defend the memories of those who served -- and protect those who serve today, you'll vote for every Republican you can in November.

A third party represents a fit of petulance that throws our warriors, our law enforcement personnel, our first responders, our children and our grandchildren to the wolves of Statism.

Who could advocate for such a thing, when the only tactic available to us is to overthrow the Beltway GOP? We've won some (Angle, Bennett, ...) and lost some (McCain), but we've battled hard to send more conservative Republicans to Washington.

A third party? Ace, have you been smoking crack?

Do you want Darrell Issa, bless his heart, to investigate the raw criminality that has infected the Democrat leadership? If not, vote for a third party.

Do you want to de-fund socialized medicine, the EPA, the Department of Education, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Labor, et. al.? If not, vote for a third party.

I don't give a crap what the NRSC did in the Alaskan primary.

They are clueless little Beltway hacks -- and we can dispense with them after we crush the people destroying our Republic.

Oh, for Thomas Friedman to be in China for a day

Remember when The New York Times' token intellectual wanted the U.S. "to be China for a day [to] authorize the right solutions?"

A 60-mile traffic jam near the Chinese capital could last until mid-September, officials say... Traffic has been snarled along the outskirts of Beijing and is stretching toward the border of Inner Mongolia ever since roadwork on the Beijing-Tibet Highway started Aug. 13. The following week, parts of a major road circling Beijing were closed, further tightening overburdened roadways.

...Though triggered by construction, the root cause for the congestion is chronic overcrowding on key national arteries.

Gee, Tommy, isn't central planning kewl?

If we could only hand over the keys to our government to a bunch of Statist masterminds for a while, things we be soooooo much better. Like in China.

Oh -- you mean we did that in the 2008 elections? Oops.

Ground Zero Imam: Despite freeing tens of millions of Muslims from despots, U.S. has more blood on its hands than Al Qaeda

Sounds tolerant to me.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf: "We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al Qaida has on its hands of innocent non Muslims...

...You may remember that the US-led sanctions against Iraq led to the death of over half a million Iraqi children. This has been documented by the United Nations. And when Madeleine Albright, who has become a friend of mine over the last couple of years, when she was Secretary of State and was asked whether this was worth it, said it was worth it."

Rauf's screed is an abomination.

George W. Bush freed tens of millions of Muslims from the Taliban and Saddam Hussein's despotic regime.

And the United States gets no credit from Rauf and his ilk.

Say, let's have him build a tolerance mosque in the Ground Zero debris field!

Please Congratulate Shane Goldmacher, Author of the 'Most Biased Top Story Ever Published In Any Free-World Newspaper'

That is how Tim Cavanaugh describes the verbal stylings of the Los Angeles Times' Shane Goldmacher.

In one of its many books of guidelines, the Los Angeles Times instructs employees to write so that a reader "cannot detect" the political views of the reporter. If there's any place where you'd expect this iron-age rule to be followed, it's in an A1, top-right-column story, which is traditionally considered the leading news story of the day.

So it's not Shane Goldmacher's opinion, just straight news, that the lame-duck governor of California is sending a "gubernatorial ransom note" and "holding the state hostage" in his budget negotiations, thus repeating a "shameful chapter in California's history" and alienating cooperative Democrats with his "ultimatums." It is furthermore objectively true that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is doing this not just from an honest desire to fix Sacramento's chronic budgeting problems but out of personal pique, that he is trying to retrofit a "fiscal system that has bedeviled California -- and him -- for years."

Sounds even-keeled to me.

Goldmacher seems awfully proud of Blue State governance. From the $578 million K-12 public school building to delayed school payments of roughly $3 billion, there's a lot for him to kvell over.

If you ever find yourself in Goldmacher's presence, please don't mention the public sector unions that control Democrat legislators. He still believes in the Tooth Fairy and the success of socialism.

Please! Someone call 9-1-1! Eugene Robinson Just O.D.'ed on Stupid Pills!

Something is very wrong with the Washington Post's Eugene Robinson. The proof is in the pudding or, in this case, the bowl full of stupid served up by Gene on Friday. His column, entitled "President Obama's winning streak", describes the under-appreciated management skills of #44.

This is a radical break from journalistic convention, I realize, but today I'd like to give credit where it's due -- specifically, to President Obama. Quiet as it's kept, he's on a genuine winning streak... look at what he's accomplished in just the past few weeks. Let me highlight four recent headlines:

"Last U.S. combat troops leave Iraq" ... [Without thanking Bush 43 for the surge he opposed]

"General Motors to launch stock offering" ... [Another union payoff]

"Gulf oil spill contained" ... [With 23,000 unnecessary job losses]

"President wades into mosque controversy" ... [On the wrong side, as usual]

He still hasn't walked on water, though. What's wrong with the man?

Back in the little land we like to call "Reality", Americans are suffering. In the nearly four years that the Pelosi-Obama-Reid Democrats have held Congress, the private sector has disappeared faster than a sack of Chips Ahoy in front of Rosie O'Donnell.

The Democrats have given us:

* Three straight years of job losses, an unemployment rate that has more than doubled to nearly 10%, and a true (U-6) underemployment rate of nearly 18%;

* A national debt that has ballooned to over $13 trillion, a catastrophic increase of 60%;

* A $787 (now $860) billion pork-, bribe- and boondoggle-laden "stimulus" bill, which not only failed to stimulate the economy, but helped bankrupt the country;

* Record high home foreclosures that the American taxpayer is on the hook for thanks to the Democrats' favorite job shops: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac;

* Another "jobs bill" that cost taxpayers $18 billion, yet created no "jobs"... along with a $26 billion "teachers' jobs bill" that simply kicks the fiscal responsibility can down the road and rewards the AFT and NEA teachers' unions;

* The $700 billion TARP bill to bailout banks that couldn't balance their books; and...

* The 2,000+ page health care takeover bill, which leaves the American taxpayer on the hook for another $2.6 trillion to pay for this new "entitlement."

Yes, Americans are grateful for the work of the Obama Democrats. Stimulus. TARP. ObamaCare. $200 million in Stimulus propaganda construction signs. And union payoffs and political bribes -- used to pass this mess -- as far as the eye can see.

Eugene Robinson's latest excretion does prove one point:

WaPo's management team needs to start random drug-testing.

Top 20 Reader Comments From the LA Dog Trainer's Coverage of Obama's Fundraising Visit to Hollywood That Paralyzed the City's Traffic

President Obama's motorcade paralyzed Los Angeles rush hour traffic for hours, resulting in thousands of outraged comments in local news sites. The worst part? Obama's sole reason for his visit was an exclusive, million-dollar fundraiser hosted by Holloywood's hoi polloi.

I am outraged that the president has chosen rush hour to travel through LA, and that law enforcement has not adequately routed traffic elsewhere. Obama has single handedly alienated hundreds of thousands of voters leaving them stranded for hours, unable to get in my case a few blocks. I finally left my car illegally parked in a permit only neighborhood just to get home. If I get a ticket, I will most certainly contest it. It's very hard to understand the total lack of respect for the working class here. -- BBlair

Hey, it could have been worse. Obama's policies have cost so many people their jobs that I'm sure the traffic volume was correspondingly reduced. Just think of how bad things would have been 12.2% of the city wasn't out of work. -- Charlie Foxtrot

Look at a Map of Los Angeles and estimate how many people move on that Map. Would you arrive at 3pm and shut down the 405 and then move eastward and completely shut down the small streets that millions of commuters use because they are no where close to a freeway, just to have a meal? If you do not live in Los Angeles you cannot make a comment. Move here pay to live here and then live here and then make a comment about what happened tonight. Cars were over heated. People had to leave their cars to walk home. About people walking to get water. Los Angeles is one of the driest places in the United States. Again live here and then speak. Get a map, ask some of the mother's stuck for hours and then talk to us about what happened. -- matflash

President Obama arrived in Los Angeles. For what? To pitch his failed presidency to a lot of Democrat fat cats who still think this total loser is the miracle worker. Note that the same Hollywood hacks - from creepy agents to old movie stars - are backing this failure. And he makes driving in Los Angeles worse than it is. I can't wait to vote against every incumbent on the ballot. Unfortunately, I can't vote Pelosi and Obama out of office. But in two years... Obama will be total history. He can go back to organizing neighborhoods. -- pasadena jag

Praise Obama! He must have been doing something really important, so all you people need to stop complaining. He could have been talking about the economee or how were going to get rid of Alqida or heal the world from the poison gases and oil leak. He's doing his best to make the world a better place so hwho cares if you were stuck in a little traffic. People are so selfish, just thinking about themselves while Obama is trying to help all of us. i love you Obama. Yes we can! -- Steve Blithe

I work in Beverly Hills and watched the traffic jam develop. I was essentially trapped in the office - my only choice would have been to drive the wrong way down a one way street so I could go north to Sunset.

I live in Playa del Rey with view that includes LAX departing flight paths over the ocean. What is particularly galling is that Sunday afternoon, I watched 3 Sea Stallion Ch53s escort 2 VH-3ds - Marine 1 and Marine 2 - into LAX. So - he had a chopper at hand...

This morning, the Sea Stallions and VH3s returned to LAX a little before 9am. On August 6th there was an uproar in DC about a Presidential visit to a sign company- Marine 1 was used instead of a motorcade which was deemed disruptive and expensive.

DC traffic can be every bit as horrible as LA traffic. One wonders why they didn't chopper him to his destination.

Tone deaf White House. -- Lemmy Caution

I had to abandon ship across the street from my house...only to be told that i could not walk across the street. My neighbors and I stared at the officer who was doing an outstanding job of playing the role of "silent scary guy" when we asked questions. When asked about crossing the street, we were literally told that we would be arrested by order of the federal government and that we could not cross until AFTER Obama left the fundraiser (this was at 7:20pm so we knew it would be a while). When asked how long he thought it might be we got a disinterested shrug. For those saying we're complaining about sitting in our air conditioned cars and to get a bike - nice try, but bikes, people, dogs...NO ONE was allowed to cross Olympic tonight. I gave up and enjoyed a cocktail at Marie Callendars on Wilshire until the street reopened. -- jg

That's it, I'm done. I even voted for him, but now I'm convinced that I'll vote for anyone but him in the next election. If this is how he handles something as mundane as a visit to Los Angeles, I have zero confidence in his and his team's ability to navigate the complex issues facing the country today. Who's the incompetent who figured it was OK to shut down Santa Monica and Olympic during rush hour? And how about the radio traffic reporters who said that they couldn't tell listeners which streets were closed because of "security." Someone should lose their job over this...in addition to Obama in 2012. -- Steve

Dear irritated LA, I feel for you. King Obama pulled the very same selfish type of stunt when he decided at the last minute to fly into Chicago's O'Hare airport so that he could have his birthday party with his Chicago political cronies. As a result, he completely grounded air traffic, caused numerous flight delays as well as flight cancellations (all at a major hub which jams up all other major hubs nationwide - I might add).

It makes you wonder why the boy-president couldn't he have just landed at a military base instead thus allowing the rest of the working, taxpaying-citizens of this country to actually try to fix our economy instead of use it as there own private meal-ticket? Consider the math and the ramifications for his selfish act ... and keep in mind that Obama's stimulus package sure as heck isn't going to pay back all those stranded business people let alone the airlines for the costs resulting in the aftermath of having to re-book everyone.

But hey ... I guess what's important is that Obama got to go to both his parties (albeit on the taxpayer's dime). Thanks Mr. President. You're a shining example of fiscal responsibility. -- Brad Wilson

100K commuters X 4Hours X $10 per hour. Cost in lost time $4M+   Add in the cost of the gasoline lost while idling. And the transportation costs via AF1. Hope it was worth it, BO. Maybe the plan is to just hit LA up for a $1M campaign donation for NOT visiting next time. -- OBQuiet

It's all Bush's fault. -- Barry O.

A million people can't get home tonight, and for what? So a tiny group of fundraisers can kiss Obama's butt for a few minutes? Tonight Angelenos learn what this President thinks of them. We are all nowhere near as important, trying to get home to our kids from our jobs, as the President's fundraiser. This isn't the first time it's happened either, but by far the worst. When he was here for Boxer's thing a few months back that was a traffic disaster as well. He really needs to stay the hell out of this city unless he can take his chopper to the event. -- Tom

Wow. That was a total, complete mess. Never seen a traffic jam in LA like that...and this is LA! How much money was lost by Angelino business and residents having to deal with that unnecessary traffic disaster? I bet you not anywhere near what Obama raised at his fundraiser with with an elbow-rubbing Hollywood producer. And least I talk about the hundreds of thousand of lives of Angelinos like myself who after a long day working just wanted to get home to their kids/family, but instead were stuck in their cars for three hours going in circles. I am an Obama supporter, so don't try ripping on this email as some excuse for party stance. I can be pro Obama and still appalled at that disaster. And yes, an apology is owed. -- Trafficstucker

Da Mayor says ride a bike! It worked for China in the 60's. -- steve

8 yrs of Bush's administration and I never experienced anything like today. Luckily, I got out of west L.A. in the afternoon so I wasn't stuck for hours but they still closed Wilshire Blvd and parts of Santa Monica Blvd (even though Obama's plane wouldn't even land for at least an hour). I did have to walk about a mile to get to a bus stop - but what about the people who have mobility issues or little kids?

...Buses were being re-routed and the bus drivers didn't even know where they were going. People were waiting on Wilshire Blvd without a clue as to where to go to catch a bus because Metro (MTA) got limited information. Obviously Secret Service doesn't want to release the route they'll take for security reasons, but at least let LAPD and the city know which streets actually need to be closed. Let the bus agencies figure out where to detour their buses and let them inform passengers where to board. -- Cassie

Please, people, these are the elites, not to be bothered by your whining just because you had to spend hours gridlocked so they could whiz through empty streets with police and secret service escorts in the middle of rush hour(s). Know your place! You are the working tax paying drone class, here only to serve! -- nosanctuary1

what a nightmare. It took me 185 minutes to get home. Had I KNOWN about this, I would have stayed at work and relaxed or just gone out to eat but instead I was sitting in my car... for 185 minutes. Thanks LA. -- david goodberg

I forgot to add that I witnessed a few small car accidents during my 4.5 hour nightmare commute - and lots of drivers were swearing at each other, nearly fighting. This is simply unreal. -- DeeVee

Obama is the Marie Antoinette of the 21st century. -- Jim Appleby

White House Releases Barack Obama's Official Passport. And, Yes, It's Redacted.

Earlier today, an accidental click-through to Politico revealed a gleeful leftist high-fiving himself with the all-but-certain-Pulitzer-winning article entitled "Don't look, birthers, it's Obama's passport!"

Obama PassportNow, personally, I could care less where Obama was born at this point -- he's done a damn fine job ruining the country regardless.

But the Journolist-wannabes at Politico appear to have missed the point.

Why are the issue and expiration dates redacted?

Under what sort of passport did Obama travel to Pakistan in his college years?

As Jake Tapper reported during the campaign:

"I traveled to Pakistan when I was in college -- I knew what Sunni and Shia was [sic] before I joined the Senate Foreign Relations Committee."

This last part -- a college trip to Pakistan -- was news to many of us who have been following the race closely. And it was odd that we hadn't hear about it before, given all the talk of Pakistan during this campaign.

So I asked the Obama campaign for more information.

Apparently, according to the Obama campaign, In 1981 -- the year Obama transferred from Occidental College to Columbia University -- Obama visited his mother and sister Maya in Indonesia. After that visit, Obama traveled to Pakistan with a friend from college whose family was from there. The Obama campaign says Obama was in Pakistan for about three weeks, staying with his friend's family in Karachi and also visiting Hyderabad in Southern India.

Before Politico's reporters celebrate this dramatic, revealing release of new information about Obama, perhaps they could explore these redactions, his missing medical records, his missing college transcripts, his missing senior thesis, his missing law firm records, his missing State Senate records, and every other important piece of information regarding his background and upbringing.

Or would that be racist?

I’m announcing tonight, that I am planning to build and open the first gay bar that caters not only to the west, but also Islamic gay men. To best express my sincere desire for dialogue, the bar will be situated next to the mosque Park51, in an available commercial space.

This is not a joke. I’ve already spoken to a number of investors, who have pledged their support in this bipartisan bid for understanding and tolerance.

As you know, the Muslim faith doesn’t look kindly upon homosexuality, which is why I’m building this bar. It is an effort to break down barriers and reduce deadly homophobia in the Islamic world.

The goal, however, is not simply to open a typical gay bar, but one friendly to men of Islamic faith. An entire floor, for example, will feature non-alcoholic drinks, since booze is forbidden by the faith. The bar will be open all day and night, to accommodate men who would rather keep their sexuality under wraps – but still want to dance.

Robert’s Rant

Gibbs, his colleagues, and the president cannot help themselves.

By Peter Wehner

The White House is simmering with anger at criticism from liberals who say President Obama is more concerned with deal-making than ideological purity.

During an interview with The Hill in his West Wing office, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs blasted liberal naysayers, whom he said would never regard anything the president did as good enough.

“I hear these people saying he’s like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested,” Gibbs said. “I mean, it’s crazy.”

The press secretary dismissed the “professional left” in terms very similar to those used by their opponents on the ideological right, saying, “They will be satisfied when we have Canadian healthcare and we’ve eliminated the Pentagon. That’s not reality.”

Of those who complain that Obama caved to centrists on issues such as healthcare reform, Gibbs said: “They wouldn’t be satisfied if Dennis Kucinich was president.”

Gibbs goes on to say this:

“There’s [sic] 101 things we’ve done,” said Gibbs, who then mentioned both Iraq and healthcare.

...I’m not fan of the left — but it’s very unwise for President Obama’s notoriously prickly press secretary to publicly vent like this.

Among the many problems Democrats face going into the midterm election is the huge gap in voter intensity. (It favors Republicans by about a two-to-one margin.) Gibbs’ comments will only deflate the Democratic base. But Gibbs, his colleagues, and the president cannot help themselves. They are an extremely thin-skinned lot, prone to lash out at their critics. [Did I mention 'delusional'?] ...A fight with the base of the Democratic Party isn’t what Obama or Democratic candidates need right now. But thanks to Mr. Gibbs — who also succeeded in offending Speaker Pelosi recently — that’s just what they have.

###

It’s November or never, America.

Ruth Marcus says Gibbs is 100% accurate -- and that the left is deranged (but those of us on the right already knew that). Glenn Greenwald is on Gibbs' side as well, calling his opponents "the fringe losers of the left."

On the other hand Congressman and professional leftist kook Keith Ellison says Gibbs should resign. Nate Silver whines that the "White House is losing its cool". And the world's dumbest blogger thinks Gibbs needs to be drug-tested.

Uhm, yeah. That will happen.
