My Best Idea Ever: Let's Implement the DISPOSE Act!

Democrats have now twice come within a gnat's whisker of squelching conservative free speech. The Orwellian DISCLOSE Act would grant political free speech rights to unions while simultaneously stripping these rights from businesses. The bill requires War and Peace-style disclosure from businesses, limiting their ability to advertise on television and radio.

I've thought of a way to fight back, which -- in my humble opinion -- is nothing short of brilliant. The DISPOSE Act would take care of situations like this one:

Taxpayer anger against President Barack Obama and Congress is counterproductive because policy makers took measures including deficit spending to stimulate the economy, billionaire investor Warren Buffett told CNBC.

“Sentiment has turned very sour in the last three or four or five months,” the chairman and CEO of Omaha-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc. said in an interview broadcast Thursday.

“I hope we get over it pretty soon, because it’s not productive,’’ Buffett said. “We will come back regardless of how people feel about Washington, but it is not helpful to have people as unhappy as they are about what’s going on in Washington.”

More than three-quarters of U.S. investors view Obama as anti-business and are pessimistic about his policies, a Bloomberg survey this month indicated.

The U.S. unemployment rate is 9.6 percent, even after an $814 billion stimulus measure enacted last year and other government actions.

Actually the number is closer to $860 billion, but who's counting? After all, it's only your money.

The DISPOSE Act would directly target crony capitalists like Buffett, Bill Gates and others. These men have used the free market system to make tens of billions of dollars each and yet they support Obama, the Democrats, and the continued growth of government at the expense of the individual.

The DISPOSE Act would modify the income tax law: if an individual or corporation publicly advocates increased taxes, unwarranted Keynesian deficit spending, or other anti-free market policies, their tax rates would immediately double.

But, Doug, I can hear you say: that would contravene the First Amendment! Ah, but here's the brilliant part, if I do say so myself (humbly, of course): the DISCLOSE Act has already laid the precedent for this action. If corporate free speech can be targeted, why not Buffett's companies -- or Gates'?

Perhaps a First Amendment challenge to the DISPOSE Act would rule it unconstitutional for individuals. But if the DISCLOSE Act -- that targets corporate free speech -- is presumably legal, then penalizing every company on which Buffett serves as a board member or officer would therefore be equally legitimate.

After all, men like Buffett have made huge fortunes -- which no conservative begrudges in the least -- but they now advocate for policies that destroy free enterprise and crush capitalism. So DISPOSE would target companies whose board members or officers attack the free market.

After all, the Constitution is not a suicide pact.

My hope is that the DISPOSE Act would shut these crony capitalists up. Because anyone who's benefited from the immense tapestry of riches offered by the American free market system should evangelize it -- not participate in its destruction.

Desperate Democrats' Latest Mailer: Evil Tea Party Will Kill Old People

The desperate campaign of Nancy Pelosi's protege Connie Pillich -- an Ohio incumbent -- has unleashed another attempt to stop Tea Party founder Mike Wilson in his tracks. Check out the Democrats' latest mailer, which does everything but paint Wilson as a bloodthirsty animal, trying to break into grandma's house to ensure that she'll never collect on Medicare.

But everyone who has studied the matter knows that the only folks killing Medicare are Democrats. Health Reform Report's latest newsletter offers the troubling statistics.

Medicare's own Chief Actuary was careful to explain in his own unprecedented accompanying report that the Medicare payment rates for the doctors and hospitals serving seniors will be cut by 30% over the next 3 years. By 2019, those Medicare payment rates will be lower than under Medicaid.

And the Democrats' gouging cuts don't even include the devastating changes to Medicare Advantage. Medicare's Chief Actuary estimates that half of all seniors on Advantage will lose their plan.

Who's sending this garbage out?

Who do you think?

These Marxists are out of control. They are an abomination.

If you've got a few bucks to spare, help Mike to show these leftists the door in November.

Survey: Nation's Unemployed Cheered by Comedian Steven Colbert's Hilarious Congressional Testimony Advocating More Illegal Immigration

Citing rising unemployment and concerns with the nation's morale, Congressional Democrats hosted comedian Steven Colbert in the Capitol Building today to highlight the seriousness of their efforts to right the ship of state.

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) noted that Colbert's testimony before Congress was a huge win for the Democrats stating, "Nothing brings a country together like immigrant jokes delivered in deadpan by Steven Colbert, the nation's best-known comedian who wears glasses and hosts a fake news show patterned after O'Reilly."

"Bringing Colbert in to deliver his incisive commentary demonstrates the seriousness with which we take our work here in Congress.

"Also, remember to try the roast beef special -- and don't forget to tip your waitresses."

Democrat pollsters echoed Hoyer's claim, with reports that the nation's morale had improved over 17.4% after Colbert's humorous foray into Congress. The respected political analysis website 538.com found that five of eight Bethesda, Maryland residents would vote Democrat after watching the funnyman's testimony.

Government Efficiency: Chrysler Workers Filmed Smoking Pot, Pounding Booze at the Very Plant Obama Visited to Boast of Bailout 'Success'

I wonder if they're drinking High Life?

What were those old Soviet autos called? The Volga? That's what our tax dollars are subsidizing, I guess.

Check out the unionized, taxpayer-funded workers in Detroit's Jefferson North plant.

Fox 2's Rob Wolchek got a tip about what some guys are doing at Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit. This is the same plant that President Barack Obama visited back in July and talked about the significance of manufacturing in America.

The same place where the President remarked on the tax-payer generated government loan saying "I believed that if each of us were willing to work and sacrifice in the short term -- workers, management, creditors, shareholders, retirees, communities -- it could mark a new beginning for a great American industry. And if we could summon that sense of teamwork and common purpose, we could once again see the best cars in the world designed, engineered, forged, and built right here in Detroit, right here in the Midwest, right here in the United States of America."

[The UAW's response?] "The UAW strongly opposes the use of controlled substances or alcohol use on the job. This type of behavior jeopardizes the health and safety of all employees. We also recognize that, unfortunately, these behaviors exist in our society... The UAW and the Chrysler Corporation work together to keep our workplaces drug and alcohol free, and to encourage employees with substance abuse problems to get the treatment they need. The employees involved in this situation do not represent the vast majority of workers at Chrysler who do a great job making high quality vehicles in some of the most productive manufacturing facilities in the United States."

Actually, I view these developments as helpful.

Because this is the Obama administration in a nutshell. Waste, fraud and outright criminality, all under the umbrella of the Democrat Party and the union bosses that are helping to destroy America.

Don't get mad. Get even. Remember in November.

Soup Lines In the Age of Electronic Funds Transfer

What happens when you let Nancy Pelosi dictate the nation's fiscal agenda for four years straight? Tyler Durden relays the tangible results of Democratic rule.

...there is a stunning admission by none other than the CEO of Walmart on what modern day bread lines look like. To wit:

I don't need to tell you that our customer remains challenged…You need not go farther than one of our stores on midnight at the end of the month. And it's real interesting to watch, about 11 p.m. customers start to come in and shop, fill their grocery basket with basic items – baby formula, milk, bread, eggs – and continue to shop and mill about the store until midnight when government electronic benefits cards get activated, and then the checkout starts and occurs. And our sales for those first few hours on the first of the month are substantially and significantly higher.

...Luckily the NBER said the recession ended. Hurray[!] ...Here’s the opening line from the Bloomberg report:

Payrolls dropped in 36 U.S. states in August, led by Michigan, indicating the labor market will take time to rebound from the worst recession since the 1930s... Texas lost 34,200 jobs, and California eliminated 33,600, the Labor Department said. The number of states where payrolls dropped was the highest this year.

More job losses in more states. Thank the gods that the recession’s over.

The country is collapsing everywhere and all the leaders can do is lie to their electorate that things are great. Images of the Titanic come to mind.

In fact, I don't have an image that positive in my mind.

I was thinking more along the lines of the Hindenburg.

Well, at the end of Recovery Summer™, the house is boarded up. The doors. The windows. Everything. We're at the Comfort Inn. Room 112.

What's not to like about the Summer of Recovery? Like, dude, the recession ended eons ago.

By an 8 point margin, independents who voted for Obama oppose his tax hikes

The [Center for Data Analysis] found that the Obama tax hikes would:

• Destroy an average of 693,000 jobs every year through 2020.

• Drain $726 billion from disposable income, $38 billion from personal savings, and $33 billion from business investments.

• Raise taxes on the 55% of all joint filers earning more than $250,000 who run small businesses that employ others.

• Cost the average non-farm small-business owner $3,500 more in taxes.

• Cost the 49% of all seniors with income below $250,000 $525 in additional dividend taxes.

• Cost the 25% all seniors with income below $250,000 $742 in higher taxes.

Now that's the kind of change you can feel in your nether regions!

Certainly, America's business leaders are feeling more comfortable with the Obama administration as...

Insider Selling Outpaces Buying By Over 290-To-1 In Past Week

...for the week ended September 17, corporate insiders bought $1.4MM in shares in a whopping 7 different companies. This was just marginally offset by sales of $441MM in 98 different companies, a ratio of 290 to 1 of stock notional sold to bought. But wait: this is GREAT NEWS: last week the ratio was 650 to 1! So this is a huge improvement and certainly yet another reason for today's rally... for those wondering just who is orchestrating today's move higher, please let us know if you find out.

And last but not least:

It would appear that certain foreclosures by major, major institutions may have been fraudulent... and, thus, invalid, which could really, really screw things up

Ally Financial Inc.’s GMAC Mortgage unit told brokers and agents to halt evictions tied to foreclosures on homeowners in 23 states including Florida, Connecticut and New York...

...At least one (and perhaps more) "inside officers" in various law firms filed thousands (and maybe tens of thousands) of affidavits they did not read and thus could not have attested to.

...This practice appears to not be limited to one law firm. In fact, it may be basically the entire "foreclosure industry" that was involved in this.

...This is likely to derail many foreclosures - at least from a standpoint of time. It may also void some of them and force them to be re-litigated. This will have a SEVERE impact on loss severities - at minimum....

...If the time has passed to be able to make reasonable corrections to these so-called "ministerial errors" (and it probably has) then the impact on MBS holders who happen to have the "hot potato" in non-agency securitizations could be catastrophic...

In plain English, some reports indicate that thousands of foreclosures could have been performed without the appropriate documentation. Which could make them, ehm, invalid.

Which would make some of the investment vehicles derived thereof (like mortgage-backed securities or MBS), ehm, difficult to value.

ObamaCare Already Depriving Children of Health Insurance--The Unintended Consequences of a 2,200-page Bill That No One Read

Democrats don't appear to be very proud of their historic health care reform law, passed at midnight using an unprecedented series of bribes and accounting skulduggery. And with news like this, I don't blame them from sprinting as far away from Pelosi, Obama and Reid as they can get. Hint: it ain't gonna work. Here's Denver's ABC-7 News:

Thousands of Colorado children will soon have fewer options for health insurance. And parents who may not be able to afford it for themselves, but want it for their children won't have that option.

Ironically the change is as a result of the health care reform act.

7NEWS learned several large insurance companies are no longer offering child-only health policies... Child-only policies are typically obtained by families because sometimes it's cheaper than a family health plan through an employer. But most often parents who cannot afford health insurance for themselves purchase a child-only policy to make sure their kids are insured even if they are not.

Obamacare passes: poorest families hardest hit.

The Affordable Care Act requires insurance companies which offer child-only policies to take all kids, even those with preexisting conditions... According to Robbie Zirkelbach, of America's Health Insurance Plans, this is an issue the government did not see when it passed the Affordable Care Act...

Considering no one read the damn bill, Robbie, I think it's fair to say that there will be millions of unanticipated consequences, nearly all of them abysmal for society.

When 7NEWS contacted several insurance companies for comment, many did not want to talk about the changes.

I don't blame the insurers for being circumspect about the real reasons for their coverage changes. The last time they spoke freely -- as is their First Amendment right according to rumors spread by the evil Tea Partiers -- the Chavez-like central government threatened their livelihood.

As a result of this change, clinics such as Rocky Mountain Youth are anticipating an increased client load... For nonprofits dedicated to helping children this is a major concern... Wolk tries to reassure his patients that health care reform is fluid and changes can occur.

The scope of the disaster known as ObamaCare is only beginning to reveal itself.

And people will most definitely die -- needlessly -- as a result. We know that from mortality statistics comparing the U.S. with Canada and the U.K..

Thank a Democrat in November.

It's another Democrat record! Cali budget stalemate now longest ever

Good thing thing that California's economy is hitting on all cylinders.

The impasse over solving California's $19 billion budget deficit reached an inglorious milestone today when it officially became the longest stalemate over the state budget in history, though some lawmakers think it may end soon.

...Democrats have been haggling with the governor and legislative Republicans over just how much of the $19 billion deficit will be made through cuts...

The governor's proposal, which the Republicans have generally embraced, would cut $12 billion, including eliminating the state's welfare-to-work program and most state support for child care. It includes no tax increases or other revenue boosts...

I'd wager that experts like Charles Krauthammer and Karl Rove are fully supportive of Schwarzenegger's efforts to behave as a 'moderate Republican', who slows -- but definitely doesn't stop or reverse -- the uncontrolled growth of government.

Another Obama success story: $111 million in Stimulus spending saved or created 55 jobs

What a bargain! Only $2,018,000 a job!

An audit of federal stimulus spending by the City Controller of Los Angeles reveals -- I hope you're sitting down -- that $111 million in Stimulus spending... saved or created 55 jobs.

The Mayor of Los Angeles appears to be quite proud that he helped destroy 1,200 private sector jobs in order to rescue 55 public sector roles. Libertius, writing at RedState, does the heavy mathematical lifting and calculates:

...New job creation when wealth is left in the private sector: 1269

New job creation when private wealth is seized by the federal government, strained through multiple levels of bureaucratic inefficiency and redistributed by a command-and-control, politically motivated regime: 55

Remember how Joe Biden, former Senator from Delaware, was assigned by the President to prevent fraud in Stimulus spending? I think the term was 'laser-focused'.

Christine O'Donnell, also of Delaware, appears quite appealing compared to this waste, fraud and abuse.

Reflections from one year's worth of graphs and data

Over at the American Thinker, Randall Hoven has published a "Chart o' the Day" for a year now. What has he learned?

Then came Obama...

Hoven's post is an invaluable one, summarizing the inevitable havoc wrought by the 'progressives'.

Read the whole thing.

GTFO?

Dan from New York:

"... it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

-- Senator Barack Hussein Obama, San Francisco Fundraiser, 2008

"They say I'm dumb. Yes, I'm dumb. I'm so dumb I got two Lincoln Continentals, that's how damn dumb I am!"

-- Lenny Bruce send up of an Evangelical preacher in the brilliant Religions Inc. (1958)

It's a common trait of political elites to look down their noses at those who cling to their guns and religion and characterize it as a disorder. This year, though, it's proving to be a big mistake.

Signs continue to build that the state-run media's attempt to demonize the Tea Party movement has flopped on Main Street, if not Broadway. It was always about preaching to the perverted anyway and, thanks to Barack Hussein Obama, their numbers are dwindling rapidly. The Republicans' ugly knee-jerk reaction to the Tea Party challenge is fading too, now that the blue blazer conservatives have been mugged by the bumpkins and the party's operatives are beginning to see the light (of victory).

It's entirely possible the great wave of hysteria that brought the Obamatons to power will utterly recede only two years after it inundated the land. If it does, it will be an affirmation of the underlying health and restorative powers of America's instincts and common sense.

Yet, as nice as that sounds, don't take it for granted. Complacency is not an option. There's still almost two months to go and only an all-out effort from here to the finish line will bring success. Obama will not go without a fight, and men like him seldom fight fair.

Only overwhelming with our numbers will work.

Remember: "If it's not close, they can't cheat."

Roger Kimball unveils the ObamaCare money chart

Roger Kimball's "A lesson for David Axelrod" is worth reading in its entirety. But the money chart is this:

Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years after diagnosis:
U.S.            65%
England       46%
Canada        42%

Percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received treatment within six months:
U.S.           93%
England      15%
Canada        43%

Percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it within six months:
U.S.            90%
England       15%
Canada        43%

Percentage referred to a medical specialist who see one within one month:
U.S.            77%
England       40%
Canada        43%

Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million people
U.S.            71%
England       14%
Canada        18%

Percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say they are in “excellent health”:
U.S.           12%
England        2%
Canada         6%

In sum, you can have health care, or you can have ObamaCare.  People have looked at the latter... and they don’t like what they see. That’s the reason it’s unpopular, and will become more so.

You know how the liberals progressives continually whine that we spend too much money on health care?

Because they're economic illiterates, I'll explain this phenomenon really slowly so they'll understand:

Because......... we......... can.

Connecticut: Anthem, Cigna blame 20%+ rate hikes on freakish outbreak of Ebola virus plus ObamaCare, but mostly ObamaCare

If I didn't know better, I'd say that Anthem and Cigna just told HHS Czar Katherine Sebelius to take her threats and -- well, you know. At least that's the way I interpret this news story from Connecticut entitled "Health Insurers Seeking Rate Hikes Of More Than 20 Percent In Connecticut."

Health insurers are asking for immediate rate hikes of more than 20 percent in Connecticut for some plans, citing rising medical costs and federal health reform laws as reasons.

...In what might appear to be an oddity, companies are citing a huge range of effects that the health care reform mandates will have on plan prices — from near zero to well over 20 percent. The reason is that among all the plans, some already deliver the provisions required by health reform, while others do not...

See, that's called the 'free market', progressives.

...Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut, by far the largest insurer of Connecticut residents, said in a letter that it expects the federal health reform law to increase rates by as much as 22.9 percent for just a single provision — removing annual spending caps. The mandate to provide benefits to children regardless of pre-existing conditions will raise premiums by 4.8 percent, Anthem said in the letter...

...CIGNA Corp. is asking for an increase of up to 1.3 percent for adding preventive care provisions, a 1 percent increase for waiving pre-existing conditions for children up to 19, and an increase of 14.5 percent for children from birth to 18 for new business, according to the Insurance Department...

It would appear that not a single member of the Democrat leadership has ever taken completed a course in economics. Or made a payroll. Or operated a cash register. Or cleaned up a bowling alley at nights while passing papers in the morning as a kid. But I'm not bitter.

...The proposed changes drew fiery response from elected officials. On Sept. 9, the Obama administration's Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius wrote a letter warning the trade group America's Health Insurance Plans of a "zero tolerance" policy for "falsely blaming premium increases for 2011 on the patient protections in the Affordable Care Act."...

I think the voters are going to express a 'zero tolerance' policy for Katherine Sebelius and her boss in 2012. And, if we can take the House or Senate, well -- let the investigations begin.

...On Sept. 23, health insurers will be required to comply with an array of provisions that were part of federal health reform laws passed six months ago. In Connecticut, some of provisions were already extended to consumers by state law. Others were not, and they are cited as part of the reason for proposed increases to premiums starting Oct. 1.

"If you fail to recognize that the new requirements around benefits that were passed in federal reform were going to drive price, I think you're being intellectually irresponsible," said Keith Stover, a lobbyist with the Connecticut Association of Health Plans.

Did Keith just call Barack Obama a pinhead?

New regulations include eliminating cash limits on how much insurers pay per person each year, and throughout a person's lifetime. Insurers won't be able to deny coverage to children under 19 who have a pre-existing medical condition...

"Those are new benefits that are going to cost money," Stover said. "You can't just wave the magic wand and say, 'Do all these things, and they're free.' It just doesn't work that way."

Oh, don't burst any bubbles, Keith -- remember who we're dealing with! The liberals progressives don't worry about mathematics, logic, facts or reason -- they've got Marxist class warfare rhetoric to disseminate.

President Obama: 'the economy was in really bad shape--I feel pretty confident when we get the autopsy back it'll say it died of natural causes'

The invaluable Doctor Housing Bubble offers a lengthy and detailed analysis of the true state of housing in the U.S. In a word: it's Obama-ified.

Remember when good old Hank Paulson gave us a three page memo requesting $700 billion for “troubled assets” which was a nice euphuism for toxic mortgage crap? Some have forgotten the days of September 2008 when the word bailout seemed to be a daily utterance. By the way, the vast majority of those toxic mortgages still sit on the balance sheet of banks even after the money is now out the door...

...At the peak of the housing bubble in 2006 Americans had $13 trillion in equity in their residential real estate. At the peak, total residential mortgage debt stood at $9.8 trillion. Today, American households have $6.2 trillion in equity while mortgage debt has grown to $10.3 trillion. In other words American households have faced a real financial loss of $6.8 trillion. At the same time you’ll notice that the amount of mortgage debt has remained steady. The toxic mortgage waste just sits idly by while banks use the taxpayer wallet as an ATM...

...Again, without fixing the core of the banking system we are doomed for another crisis. Those that believe the narrative that “we had to do what banks wanted us to do” forget that it was the banks that spearheaded this housing bubble in the first place. They were the industry that created collateralized debt obligations and option ARMs. The anger in this upcoming election is justified but might miss the real financial problems. The fix has been in for decades. Until we reform how banks and corporations lobby politicians we can simply expect more crony capitalism for years to come. In fact, the amount of lobbying dollars went up at the height of the crisis... [at right]

...Home values need to reflect a healthy job market meaning wages can support local home prices without taking on some exotic loan. Instead of focusing on that key part of the equation, banks with the support of the government have been obsessed with lowering lending standards, 3.5% FHA insured loans, HAMP, wacky refinance programs, ignoring non-payments, pushing option-ARMs into 40-year interest only balloon mortgages, but in the end it hasn’t worked because jobs can’t justify bubble home prices even today after a severe correction.

Central planning never works. If it did, North Korea, Cuba and the Soviet Union would be thriving economic powers.

Yet our current Democrat leadership is moving us closer and closer to their failed models; they want to set fees for medical care, dictate what kind of cars to build, determine where oil companies can drill, and prevent electricity from being generated by nuclear energy or coal. Centralized industrial policy.

Central planning never works.

You have to help educate your friends, your neighbors, and your family members to deconstruct the Marxist class warfare of the left. By Obama's formulation, the guy who spent his whole life saving to buy a gas station and now grosses $260,000 and employs six people is 'rich'. So is the police officer who works some overtime and is married to a NICU nurse on the 11p-to-7a shift.

Those are the Democrats' hated 'rich folks' because they both gross (not net) over $250K.

And everyone is suffering with the after-effects of the real estate meltdown.

It is indisputable that the housing crisis was precipitated by the social engineering tomfoolery of the Clinton Democrats. Andrew Cuomo (then-secretary of HUD) and Janet Reno were the enforcement arms of Bubba's administration and they used threats and legal arm-twisting to force banks into underwriting unqualified borrowers.

The actual testimony of the Democrats during that era is available to anyone curious enough to view it -- but you won't see it on ABC, CBS or PMSNBC.

And a word of warning: the housing crisis won't damage as many lives as ObamaCare will.

It's November or never.

Good News: Democrats Declare a Regulatory Jihad on Small Businesses, Which Will Only Erase or Destroy 340,000 Jobs Annually

You know it's bad when even CNN doesn't mince words.

Senate takes up 'job killing' IRS rule

The Senate will also decide whether to repeal a law enacted as part of health care reform that will require small businesses to file millions of new tax forms -- a provision a top Republican calls "job killing..."

A small section of the massive health care law mandates that beginning in 2012, all companies will have to issue a 1099 tax form not only to contracted workers, as they must already do, but also to any individual or corporation from which they buy more than $600 in goods or services in a year.

The IRS Form 1099 is used to document income for individual workers other than wages and salaries: Freelancers get them and businesses send them out. Under the new law, the 1099 form would be used to track payments for services and tangible goods. Also, it requires that 1099s be issued not just to individuals, but to corporations as well.

The result would be millions of additional tax forms...

Chris Wysocki reports that the Democrat-controlled Senate failed twice this afternoon to repeal the disastrous 1099 requirements.

The Barack Obama Death to Small Business Tax Reporting Act of 2010 will stand... Senate Democrats successfully defeated an amendment offered by Senator Mike Johanns (R-Neb) that would have repealed an Obamacare provision which requires all businesses to file Form 1099 with the IRS for every vendor that sells them more than $600 in goods.

President Obama insists the reporting provision is necessary to ensure compliance with our tax laws. Business groups, and anyone with even an ounce of common sense, have pointed out that it is a regulatory nightmare.

Think about a midsized trucking company. The back office would have to collect hundreds of thousands of receipts from every gas station where its drivers filled up and figure out where it spent more than $600 that year. Then it would also need to match those payments to the stations' corporate parents.

See, this is what happens when you hire a bunch of academics who've never worked a real job in their lives and put them in charge of our economy.

Of course, the economic illiterates in the Democrat Party haven't done the complex calculations to arrive at the number of jobs this provision will cost.

The real costs, in dollars and misery, will be shockingly high.

Earlier today on Fox Business, Gerri Willis stated that the rule "...is a mountain of paperwork and will cost businesses about $17 billion [annually]."

My magic calculator puts the number of jobs erased or destroyed by this madness at 340,000 $50,000-a-year jobs. And that will be but one toll of this monstrous 'health care' bill that no one even bothered to read.

Remember to thank a Democrat on the first Tuesday in November.

How ObamaCare Rapes Medicare and Puts America's Seniors At Risk

Campaign commercials funded by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) denounce Republicans for their efforts "to end Medicare as we know it."

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has attacked his GOP challenger Sharron Angle, claiming that she wants to "gut" Medicare.

But Medicare's Chief Actuary has revealed the sorry truth: ObamaCare is in the process of raping Medicare:

• Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals will be slashed by 30% over the course of the next three years.

• By 2019, Medicare payment rates will have been slashed below those of Medicaid. What this means is truly shocking: Seniors who have paid into Medicare their entire lives will be treated worse than the poverty-stricken and illegal aliens, many of whom have never paid a dime into the system.

• By the end of the ObamaCare projection period, Medicare payments will be one-half of equivalent Medicaid payments.

• ObamaCare slashes $818 billion from Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) from 2014 to 2023 -- the first 10 years of operation. Combined with Medicare Part B cuts (doctor fees and related services), ObamaCare cuts $1.05 trillion in the first ten years and $5 trillion over the first 20 years.

• Medicare Advantage will also be dramatically curtailed by ObamaCare; Medicare's Actuary estimates that half of all seniors with Medicare Advantage will lose their coverage.

The implications of these cuts are as ominous as they are obvious.

Thousands of doctors will stop seeing Medicare patients altogether. Many hospitals will either go out of business or dramatically raise rates on private insurers (two-thirds of hospitals already lose money on Medicare patients, according to the Chief Actuary).

And seniors will suffer most. There will be fewer doctors, surgeons and specialists because of ObamaCare's draconian price controls.

If you're a senior, you better get your ass to the polls in November.

Obama's bald lie -- "If you like your health plan, you will be able to keep it" -- does not apply to any American, least of all seniors.

ObamaCare must be repealed. And for seniors, it's November or never.

They're not even trying to fake it

It's an ancient game -- and one that always ends in misery. By that I mean the way the 'progressive left' incites warfare between arbitrary groups of people. It's what they specialize in. They divide people based upon income, race, religion, creed and gender -- pitting one group against the other for petty partisan gain.

Last week it was Al Sharpton and the NAACP accusing the Tea Party conservatives of racism (never mind the roughly two dozen national conservative candidates of color). This week it's outright agitprop by a group called 'American Progress'. Hint: they're un-American and anti-progress.

Here, the deficit is portrayed as the fault of the rich. Never mind the $840 billion 'Stimulus' bill that simply propped up bloated state governments. Forget about the half-a-trillion Omnibus Spending Bill that ratcheted up government hiring at an unprecedented rate. And don't you even mention socialized medicine, because it hasn't kicked in yet. Therefore: it's all the fault of the evil rich--the top 2%.

Who are the evil '2%' -- the Bourgeoisie? Is it the police officer who is married to a flower-shop owner in San Diego, who together make over $200,000 in combined gross income? Or is it the 60-year old machine-shop owner in Tulsa who spent his entire life building a business that grosses slightly over $250,000? Are they the evil 'rich'?

For comparison purposes, consider this poster from the Soviet Union, circa 1950.

Uhm...

• The 'fat-cat' rich living in the lap of luxury? Check

• The down-trodden 'middle class' counting their pennies? Check

• The all-knowing, all-seeing government -- hidden from view, but certain to be far more efficient than the free market? Check and mate.

Gee, can anyone tell me how the Soviet Union turned out?

These leftist Democrats are so freaking stupid it makes me nauseous. History, facts, logic and reason make no difference to them. They blindly believe in and follow an ideology -- an ideology that has failed in every time and place it's been tried. But they believe in it with a religious fervor that can only be compared to that of a cult.

Yes: our current leaders are cultists.

It's November or never.

David Rosenberg: Top 10 Signs We're in a Depression... Now

Henry Blodget describes some of economist David Rosenberg's concerns, from which I selected the ten worst indicators. If I didn't know better, I'd think the economy was racist.

10. Industrial production is still down 7.2% from the peak

9. Employment is still down 5.5% from the peak

8. Retail sales are still down 4.5% from the peak

7. Exports are still down 9.2% from the peak

6. Manufacturing orders are still down 22.1% from the peak

5. Manufacturing shipments are still down 12.5% from the peak

4. Housing starts are still down 63.5% from the peak

3. Existing home sales are still down 41.2% from the peak

2. New home sales are still down 68.9% from the peak

1. Non-residential construction is still down 35.7% from the peak

Say, you know what would really help the economy? Iran getting a hold of nukes!

With 100% of the felon and deceased voting blocs in hand, SEIU wants amnesty for illegal aliens to add 8 million new Democrats to the rolls

A Labor Day reminder from NewsBusters: earlier this year, an SEIU executive stated that amnesty for illegal immigrants would 8 million new Democrat voters to the base.

If there are some old time, traditional JFK Democrats out there, they must be feeling a little overwhelmed. They are joined by the Democrat Socialists of America, ACORN, the SEIU, La Raza, CPUSA (Communist Party USA), the New Black Panthers, and various front groups funded by one-world globalists like George Soros.

There are no moderate Democrats any more. The party has ceased operating as a legitimate and lawful entity, because virtually every segment of its constituency is devoted, using one means or another, to the eradication of the United States Constitution.

And I dare anyone to challenge me on that.
