TRANSCRIPT: Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes' Complete Speech After Accepting the Bradley Prize
America needs all of us to leave here tonight, renewed in our spirit and determination to turn this country forward to the future. I won’t say turn it around because yesterday is gone, so we must all focus on defining the themes for the future and lead the people to it.
My remarks tonight are my own, and don’t necessarily reflect those of News Corporation, Rupert Murdoch or Fox. I will say, however, that I didn’t give up my citizenship to create and run a news organization. I speak here with the highest authority and title anyone could ever aspire to -- citizen of the United States.
We must stop waving our extended arms in an effort to balance ourselves as we tiptoe along the edges of the Constitution, in an effort not to upset weak-kneed appeasers, with our unflinching belief in the ideas and principles that made our country different and yes, great!
Are we losing America to the inevitable onrushing tides of history? No. But we are in a storm, the mast is broken, the compass is barely functioning, and there is a big damned hole in the boat!
We have allowed ourselves to be manipulated by others, many of whom want to impose their culture and laws under the manufactured utopian idea that all cultures are equal and most are better than America’s. Of course all people should be proud of their heritage. They should teach their children to be proud of their history and traditions.
Immigrants will always be welcome here. But America is a culture, too.

It's the Constitution, Stupid [IBD]
Scandal: An administration that has attacked our freedoms of speech and the press, and to peacefully assemble and petition for redress of grievances is drawing a bead on our protection against unreasonable search and seizure.
Since the beginning of the war on terror, we have heard various iterations of a famous statement by Ben Franklin from 1755: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
The Bush administration kept us safe after 9/11 through targeted use of the Patriot Act and its surveillance offshoots. If a phone number turned up on a terrorist laptop overseas, it made sense to look at who in the U.S. might have that number and what numbers called it or were called by it.The Obama administration has thrown out all the rules, insisting that when you are looking for a needle in a haystack, it's OK to seize the haystack, keep it permanently on record and to look for whatever needle they want at any time they want.
They say they're looking for terrorists but can't find or stop those they have in plain sight. Such sweeping surveillance did not catch the "underwear" bomber who, thanks to sheer luck and alert passengers, failed to bring down an airliner over Detroit.
It did not catch the Tsarnaev brothers as they freely traveled to the terrorist haven they called home before bombing the Boston Marathon. It did not stop Maj. Nidal Hasan before he slaughtered U.S. soldiers and civilians at Ft. Hood. It has not found those responsible for the attack in Benghazi.

The Resume of NSA Leaker Edward Snowden: Stunning
Booz Allen Hamilton, Edward Snowden's employer, is one of America's biggest security contractors and a significant part of the constantly revolving door between the US intelligence establishment and the private sector.
The current of director [sic] of national intelligence (DNI), James Clapper, who issued a stinging attack on the intelligence leaks this weekend, is a former Booz Allen executive.
And it's not just that DNI Clapper is an ex-BAH exec and his statement is just a tad embarrassing.
No, let's examine the reported resume of Snowden (dates are estimated):• Raised in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and later moved to Maryland.
• Attended a community college, but never completed his coursework and never graduated from high school.
• 2003-2004: U.S. Army, discharged after training accident
• 2005: NSA, Security Guard, University of Maryland.
• 2006: CIA, IT security.
• 2007-2009: CIA, diplomatic cover, Switzerland.
• 2009-2013: NSA Contractor, Dell and later Booz Allen Hamilton.
• Salary: around $200,000.
What? Seriously? So a guy who never even graduated from high school (he later reportedly earned a G.E.D.) and started his professional career as a security guard, got hired by a couple of defense contractors and -- at age 29 -- was making $200K a year?
If this story is true, I don't know what's more bizarre: the leak itself or the sheer profligacy of the federal spending machine.
Update 6/11/2013: Booz Allen Hamilton has revealed that Snowden lied about his salary: it was $120,000 -- not $200,000.

The Government's Official Database on YOU
Remember the breathless, hysterical criticism by the Left over international terror wiretaps during the Bush administration's war on man-caused disasters? Those blithering idiots were shrieking over something targeted and precise: people calling into terror hotspots from the U.S. or vice versa.
But the Obama administration is building a massive database of every American's telephonic activities.
Consider the massive database that the federal government is amassing on you, the law-abiding citizen:
• Your physical and mental condition, complete with medical procedures, drugs, and therapies, thanks to Obamacare.
• All of your finances, from a single share of stock down to your checking account, thanks to the IRS and Dodd-Frank "financial reform".
• Your energy consumption, thanks to mandated "smart-meters" that can monitor and control every aspect of power consumption in your residence.
• Your car's location, courtesy of new and mandated "black boxes" for cars.
• Your location and activities, thanks to an estimated 30,000 drones that will be flying over American skies by 2016.
Along with telephone records and -- in all likelihood -- GPS data from your smartphone, the federal government can create the most comprehensive database ever seen on Earth.
And consider the most important database the Statists want to create: those tracking your firearms.
Of this fact I can promise you: this mammoth database will not used to advance liberty. On the contrary, if the IRS scandal teaches us anything, it is that the federal government under the Obama administration can not be trusted with data of any kind.
Obama and his sycophants are Statists: they are guaranteed to abuse their power to advance their political ends, no matter how unlawful, how tyrannical, or how despotic.
Ladies and gentlemen, this country is teetering on the brink of totalitarianism. It has crept upon us stealthily, bit by bit, just as Alexis de Tocqueville predicted.
Society will develop a new kind of servitude which covers the surface of society with a network of complicated rules, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate. It does not tyrannise but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.
And if real Democrats can't see it now -- not the loons and Communists, they're lost causes; I mean the real Democrats -- if they can't see it now, then this country is destined for some very, very dark years.

With the combination of minimum wage hikes and Obamacare, destroying jobs is this president's job one
Case in point: the destructive combination of Obamacare and hikes in the minimum wage.
Here's the saddest thing about President Obama's proposal to raise the minimum wage to $9 an hour — because "no one who works full time should have to live in poverty."
A fine sentiment, but many full-time, low-wage workers he aims to help are sure to become part-time as employers dodge ObamaCare's hefty fines. Undoubtedly, even after a minimum wage hike, many who now earn less than $9 an hour would have paychecks that are no bigger — or even smaller than today.
In his State of the Union, Obama didn't mention ObamaCare could add $2.40 an hour to an employer's cost for a full-time, very-low wage worker. Add it up and Obama is really proposing a full-time minimum wage of as much as $11.40.
The economic cost of raising the minimum wage is fiercely debated and likely overstated. But there's little doubt about how employers will react if they can simply sidestep ObamaCare's equivalent of a steep minimum wage hike for full-time workers: By making them part-time.
ObamaCare's potential $2.40/hour cost to employers would result from a $3,000 fine for offering coverage deemed either too pricey or too skimpy. Tack on an additional $1.75/hour wage hike and the pressure would be extreme on employers to cut hours to avoid ObamaCare fines.
...For profit-making firms facing a combined 40% state and federal tax rate, ObamaCare's nondeductible $3,000-per-worker penalty is the equivalent of $5,000 in deductible wages. Divided by 52 weeks and 40 hours a week, that fine would equal $2.40 an hour.
But because employers would owe no fine for a 29-hour-per-week worker, the $5,000 cost could amount to $96 an hour for the 30th hour of work. That's why the 30-hour workweek may disappear.
Let me repeat: thanks to a tsunami of unintended consequences unleashed by Obamacare -- a massive bill that not a single Democrat lawmaker bothered to read -- paying a worker for a 30th hour of labor in a week might cost a company around $100.
To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, for six decades we've sought to solve the problems of unemployment and affordable health care through government planning, and the more the plans fail, the more the planners plan. But there's a simple recipe for success. It's called the Constitution and a federal government limited to the enumerated powers specified therein.
Our blueprint embraces all races, all religions, all creeds and all colors. Our formula is the biggest tent of all, because it is not achieved by pandering to smaller and smaller slices of the population, but by embracing and celebrating individual liberty, private property rights, free markets and -- most of all -- limited government.
These aren't complicated concepts. They aren't difficult to embrace. But the powers that be -- the corrupt, the immoral and those tempted by the trappings of Washington -- must be dislodged post haste if we are to save this Republic, this shining city on a hill.

The Crimes of the Koch Brothers

Don't tell anyone, but I clicked on the link. I wondered who exactly would target these private citizens I've heard of -- described in hysterical tones by Leftist bloggers -- but otherwise have no familiarity with. A click-through brought me to a site operated by the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee.
The billionaire Koch brothers and their secret donor allies are on a mission – to recruit, train and fund ultra-conservative Tea Party Republicans at the local, state and national level. It’s a blatant attempt to drown out the voices of ordinary Americans by using unlimited, secret contributions to pursue their special-interest agenda.
Enough is enough. Add your name using the form below to demand that these Koch-backed special interest front groups publicly disclose their donors!
Apparently, it is now a crime to "recruit, train and fund" men and women who believe in a different political philosophy than Democrats. In this case, those who support the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. You know, the same documents that politicians take an oath to uphold?
As an aside, this site appears to be operated by some company called Salsa Labs (and you boys should be ashamed of yourselves).
Bruce at Gay Patriot wonders, as did I, who originated the anti-Koch Brothers hysteria? A little research revealed the following timeline behind the fomenting of KBDS ("Koch Brothers Derangement Syndrome"):
11-Feb-2009: CBS News' Scott Pelley interviews Bill Koch on 60 Minutes ("Rich In Cash, Poor In Family Love"), who airs his grievances against the family. Bill had sold his shares in Koch Industries in 1983 and was presumably bitter that he had lost out on the vast gains his brothers had rung up since he'd sold.
20-Feb-2009: The union website Mid-Atlantic Labor pinpoints a major opponent to the ill-fated Obama Stimulus program, Americans For Prosperity:
The compromise version of the $787 billion economic stimulus plan passed the House and Senate Friday and is expected to be signed by President Obama tomorrow in Denver. Despite Democratic leaders’ efforts to reach out for Republican support by dropping various controversial provisions and beefing up tax cuts, the measure passed with no Republican votes in the House and only three Republican votes in the Senate.
Public opposition to the plan was led by a group called Americans for Prosperity, which delivered 400,000 signatures on a petition to the Senate opposing the measure... [and who is AFP?]... the group was founded in 2003 with money from the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation, which is run by the billionaires behind Kansas-based Koch Industries — the national’s largest privately held oil and gas company...
27-Feb-2009: Mark Ames and Yasha Levine at PlayBoy.com claim the nascent Tea Party movement is the brainchild of the Koch Brothers, not a grass-roots movement.
Last week, CNBC correspondent Rick Santelli rocketed from being a little-known second-string correspondent to a populist hero of the disenfranchised, a 21st-century Samuel Adams, the leader and symbol of the downtrodden American masses suffering under the onslaught of 21st century socialism and big government. Santelli’s “rant” last-week calling for a “Chicago Tea Party” to protest President Obama’s plans to help distressed American homeowners rapidly spread across the blogosphere and shot right up into White House spokesman Robert Gibbs’ craw, whose smackdown during a press conference was later characterized by Santelli as “a threat” from the White House. A nationwide “tea party” grassroots Internet protest movement has sprung up seemingly spontaneously, all inspired by Santelli, with rallies planned today in cities from coast to coast to protest against Obama’s economic policies...
...What we discovered is that Santelli’s “rant” was not at all spontaneous as his alleged fans claim, but rather it was a carefully-planned trigger for the anti-Obama campaign. In PR terms, his February 19th call for a “Chicago Tea Party” was the launch event of a carefully organized and sophisticated PR campaign, one in which Santelli served as a frontman, using the CNBC airwaves for publicity, for the some of the craziest and sleaziest rightwing oligarch clans this country has ever produced. Namely, the Koch family, the multibilllionaire [sic] owners of the largest private corporation in America, and funders of scores of rightwing thinktanks and advocacy groups, from the Cato Institute and Reason Magazine to FreedomWorks...
For years now, the Koch Brothers have been targeted by the left because they are politically active for conservative causes. In 2010, Americans For Prosperity -- a group with 2 million members -- was attacked directly by President Obama:
Right now all around this country there are groups with harmless-sounding names like Americans for Prosperity, who are running millions of dollars of ads against Democratic candidates all across the country. And they don't have to say who exactly the Americans for Prosperity are. You don't know if it's a foreign-controlled corporation. You don't know if it's a big oil company, or a big bank.
Obama's attack on AFP was, in so many words, an assault on the free speech rights of two guys named Koch -- and all of us. Read the ad at the top again: "Demand That Koch-Based Front Groups Disclose Their Donors!"
The left wants your name. They want millions of names. They want to politically target -- through the IRS, Obamacare, the EPA, and every other lever of a massive, centralized authoritarian government -- you. You have no free speech rights under this administration. No freedom to assemble. No freedom of religion.
In short, within 16 f***ing days in 2009, a politically active family was targeted by every instrumentality the Democrat Party could bring to bear: antique media in the form of CBS, labor unions, new media and the President of the United States himself. That the Leftist tools and sycophants have since endlessly pantomimed their hatred for free speech is troubling, but not unexpected.
After all, we know what the hard left Democrat Party's end game is. But don't bother clicking here if you can't handle the truth.

OH, MY: Former New York Times General Counsel and Vice Chairman Eviscerates Obama Administration and Holder DOJ
RT: You’ve been called the father of reporters’ privileges. What do you see as the current threats to press freedom in the United States?
JG: It, frankly, is President Obama and Rosengate because this is the first time the – I hate to use the term ‘Espionage Act,’ we’ll say national security act for your viewers – has been used to get reporters.
I mean, that really is frightening because it’s usually used to get leakers. Rosen is a leakee, to use legal phraseology. If the Obama administration, or at least his Justice Department, thinks they can use criminal laws to get journalists because they’re co-conspirators, honestly that is one of the worst things I’ve come across in all the years I’ve been doing this.
Read the following sentence with your best John McClane imitation.
Welcome to the party, pal.

Surprize, Surprize!!!! China Has Plans of the Latest US Weapons Systems [Trevor Loudon]
This is no joke folks. This puts millions of lives at risk. Maybe even US national survival. From Russia Today:
The designs for more than two dozen major weapons systems used by the United States military have fallen into the hands of the Chinese, US Department of Defense officials say.
Blueprints for the Pentagon’s most advanced weaponry, including the Black Hawk helicopter and the brand new Littoral Combat Ship used by the Navy, have all been compromised, the Defense Science Board claims in a new confidential report.
The Washington Post acknowledged late Monday that they have seen a copy of the report and confirmed that the Chinese now have the know-how to emulate some of the Pentagon’s most sophisticated programs.
“This is billions of dollars of combat advantage for China,” a senior military official not authorized to speak on the record told Post reporters. “They’ve just saved themselves 25 years of research and development.”
“It’s nuts,” the source said of the report.

The Sermon on Iwo Jima [MGySgt]
An interesting fact that many of you may be unaware of is the historic events that surrounded a Jewish chaplain on Iwo Jima, where of 70,000 American Marines, 1,500 were Jewish.
Unfortunately, racial and religious prejudice led to problems with the ceremony. What happened next immortalized Rabbi Gittelsohn and his sermon forever.
It was Division Chaplain Warren Cuthriell, a Protestant minister, who originally asked Rabbi Gittelsohn to deliver the memorial sermon. Cuthriel wanted all the fallen Marines (black and white, Protestant, Catholic and Jewish) honored in a single, nondenominational ceremony. However, according to Rabbi Gittelsohn's autobiography, the majority of Christian chaplains objected to having a rabbi preach over predominantly Christian graves...
Here lie men who loved America because their ancestors generations ago helped in her founding. And other men who loved her with equal passion because they themselves or their own fathers escaped from oppression to her blessed shores. Here lie officers and men, Negroes and Whites, rich men and poor, together. Here are Protestants, Catholics, and Jews together. Here no man prefers another because of his faith or despises him because of his color. Here there are no quotas of how many from each group are admitted or allowed.
Among these men there is no discrimination. No prejudices. No hatred. Theirs is the highest and purest democracy! Whosoever of us lifts his hand in hate against a brother, or who thinks himself superior to those who happen to be in the minority, makes of this ceremony and the bloody sacrifice it commemorates, an empty, hollow mockery. To this then, as our solemn sacred duty, do we the living now dedicate ourselves: To the right of Protestants, Catholics, and Jews, of White men and Negroes alike, to enjoy the democracy for which all of them have here paid the price.
We here solemnly swear this shall not be in vain. Out of this and from the suffering and sorrow of those who mourn this, will come, we promise, the birth of a new freedom for the sons of men everywhere.
Among Gittelsohn's listeners were three Protestant chaplains so incensed by the prejudice voiced by their colleagues that they boycotted their own service to attend Gittelsohn's. One of them borrowed the manuscript and, unknown to Gittelsohn, circulated several thousand copies to his regiment. Some Marines enclosed the copies in letters to their families.
In 1995, in his last major public appearance before his death, Gittelsohn reread a portion of the eulogy at the 50th commemoration ceremony at the Iwo Jima statue in Washington, D.C. In his autobiography, Gittelsohn reflected, "I have often wondered whether anyone would ever have heard of my Iwo Jima sermon had it not been for the bigoted attempt to ban it."

Nancy Pelosi's Greatest Hits
Actual quotations or paraphrases from former speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA):
• Unemployment benefits are the best form of economic development.
• The IRS admission it illegally targeted conservative groups is the fault of the Supreme Court.
• ObamaCare is responsible for bringing down the deficit.• We have to pass the bill (ObamaCare) to see what’s in it.
• The Tea Party is astroturf.
• Every week we don’t pass a Stimulus package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs.
• I believe in natural gas as a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels.
• We don’t have a spending problem.
• The CIA misleads us all the time.
• I didn’t know about torture. Bush tricked us. OK, I did know but I didn’t think it mattered because it worked, but now I’m definitely against it, although I didn’t know it was going on.
• Enforcing immigration laws is un-American.
Editor's postscript: And to think, Pelosi is what passes for an intellectual in the modern Democrat Party.

STUDY: Men like me more likely to have right wing political views*
Men who are strong are more likely to take a right-wing stance, while weaker men support the welfare state, researchers claim.
Their study discovered a link between a man’s upper-body strength and their political views. Scientists from Aarhus University in Denmark collected data on bicep size, socio-economic status and support for economic redistribution from hundreds in America, Argentina and Denmark.
The figures revealed that men with higher upper-body strength were less likely to support left-wing policies on the redistribution of wealth. Men with less upper body strength are more likely to support the welfare state... But men with low upper-body strength were more likely to put their own self-interest aside and support a welfare state.
Researchers also released a series of photos from their study:

Can Libertarians and Conservatives Join Forces? A #BlogCon2013 Panel Discussion
Panelists Russ Walker, Teri Christoph, Jason Pye and Michelle Ray were bombarded with questions and, sometimes, assertions.
Wayne Dupree -- you may know him as News Ninja -- drew the loudest applause with a plea to win. "I'm sick of losing elections," he said, "We need to unite on core principles to win elections. Stop focusing on how we are divided.""Liberty Speaks" -- a pseudonym for a female blogger who has faced a series of threats from the tolerant left -- echoed that cry. The core principle that should unite conservatives and libertarians is the terrible fate that awaits society under the collectivists. In fact, the two branches of individualism are united by free markets, private property and respect for free will and individual action. The left believes only in government; that mankind is too stupid to organize its own affairs in a manner suitable for the Statist. That dichotomy, she said, must be exploited.
Several college-age individuals also issued strong statements:
• The "Republican brand" appears fatally damaged, especially for the 18-21 demographic. In general, they feared labeling themselves Republicans, which demonstrate just how disastrous the "leadership" of anti-conservatives, neo-Statists like Reince Priebus (Spelling off? Who cares?) and John Boehner has turned out for the GOP.
• Many call themselves "Conservatarians" to indicate the hybrid appeal of libertarianism and Constitutional conservatism.
• There was universal agreement that electing more statesmen like Ted Cruz is the only answer to the collectivist madness that threatens to engulf the nation.
At the end of the discussion, there were general agreements but no universal consensus. There were no fistfights, but a grudging acceptance that working within the two party system is the only pragmatic solution to controlling the Left.
As GOPrincess observed:
You can be libertarian based on the issues and still vote for conservative/Republican candidates. Not mutually exclusive... #blogcon2013

I'M CONFUSED: Some outfit ranked this podunk, loser blog the 79th most influential in the entire freaking U.S.?

Off the top of my head, Ace, Driscoll, Hoft, Jacobson, Malkin, McCain, Reynolds and a bevy of other, truly influential blogs have been skipped. You know, the major leaguers (I consider this blog double-A ball, at best).
But for the moment I'll revel in their error and try not to let it go to my head. So have a Bud. This round's on me.

LEADERSHIP: Obama blames Bush for his inaction in Syria
Last year Barack Obama repeatedly warned that chemical weapons use by the Syrian regime against its own people would be a “game changer” [and crossing a "red line"]. But despite evidence that the Assad regime used chemical weapons, thus far Obama has not acted.
Today Obama blamed Bush for his inaction.
We have evidence that there has been the use of chemical weapons inside Syria. But, I don’t make decisions based on ‘perceived.’ And, I can’t organize coalitions around ‘perceived.’ We tried that in the past, by the way, and it didn’t work out well.
It’s Bush’s fault.
I, for one, blame the Militant Quakers.

SENATOR TED CRUZ: "Every word of the Constitution Matters"
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) addressed the NRA convention in Houston today. The following are key excerpts from his speech.
CRUZ: “It seems to me that when the Constitution says the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, that means the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The Constitution matters.
All of the Constitution. It’s not pick and choose. It’s not take what part you like and get rid of the parts you don’t like. For some reason Obama liberals want to disregard the First Amendment and take away our right to speak and political speech. For some reason they want to disregard the Fourth and Fifth Amendments. And, for some reason the Obama liberals want to disregard the Tenth Amendment and implement Obamacare and take away our liberties.
Every word of the Constitution matters.
It is our fundamental protection of our liberties against the government.
This man needs to run for president.
