Tehran holds memorial ceremony for Mugniyeh
Imad Mughniyeh, a Hezbollah mastermind, was assassinated late last Tuesday following the explosion of a car bomb in Damascus. In response, Iranian officials held a solemn memorial ceremony for the terrorist baby-killer.
The commemoration ceremony of Imad Mughniyeh's martyrdom was held in Tehran at the presence of vice president Parviz Davoudi, top commander of Revolutionary Guard Corps Jafari, and some other military and government officials.
Jihad Mugniyeh, son of the late terrorist, reconsiders his career options.
Hezbollah's representative in Tehran Abdullah Safieddin in the ceremony asserted Mughniyeh's character was formed thanks to Iran's Islamic Revolution's teachings.
He added although his loss was a heavy crash on the resistance movement body, resistance would move on as strong as before.
Davoudi for his part describing the terrorist attack that killed Hezbollah's commander as a sign of the Zionist's "foolishness" said it would crumple the regime soon...
Threats of crumpling. I would take those seriously.
Not to be outdone, Fars News reported additional stern Iranian covenants of destruction.
A senior Iranian commander said that billions of the oppressed and justice-seeking people worldwide will soon be filled with much joy and happiness when they hear the news of the eventual victory of Islam over the devilish front of Zionism.
Super happy fun hate poster in Tehran.
...commander of the General Staff of Iran's armed forces Major General Hassan Firoozabadi expressed his condolences to the Hezbollah chief on the martyrdom of the group's senior commander, Imad Mughniyeh in a car bomb in Damascus on Tuesday...
"And the hearts of several billion oppressed and right-supporting people worldwide will soon be filled with overwhelming joy and happiness when they hear the news of the final victory of the front of Islam and destruction of the devilish front of Zionism," the General reiterated.
Enlightened!

Al Gore in Concert
Reliapundit notes that $117 billion was spent on "clean energy" in 2007. I wonder if all of this cash changing hands is linked in any way to Al Gore and Michael Milken flitting about the peripheries of the carbon offset trade?
Clinical psychiatrist: modern liberalism is a mental disorder
Dr. Lyle Rossiter's new book makes a compelling case that liberalism really is a mental disorder.
"Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded... Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave."
While political activists on the other side of the spectrum have made similar observations, Rossiter boasts professional credentials and a life virtually free of activism and links to "the vast right-wing conspiracy."
For more than 35 years he has diagnosed and treated more than 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.
Rossiter says the kind of liberalism being displayed by the two major candidates for the Democratic Party presidential nomination can only be understood as a psychological disorder.
"A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do," he says. "A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do."
Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
* creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
* satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
* augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
* rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.
"The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind," he says. "When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."

Six sharia convicts await stoning deaths in Nigeria
Reuters Africa:
Six people convicted by Islamic sharia courts in a northern Nigerian state are awaiting death by stoning, while 46 others are waiting for amputation, the official News Agency of Nigeria reported on Friday.
...The report did not say how many people were facing such penalties in 11 other northern Nigerian states that have criminal courts using sharia law. Such data is not collated centrally...
...Bauchi is one of 12 states in Nigeria's mainly Islamic north that adopted a harsh sharia-based criminal code eight years ago. The move alienated large Christian minorities and sparked bouts of sectarian violence that killed thousands...
It's not like they weren't warned. Authorities have helpfully distributed posters to describe various crimes and their consequences.
I wonder if Archbishop Rowan Williams has seen these helpful posters?

• When it comes to Hillary and Obama discussing social security reform, their plans are crystal clear. Everything -- everything! -- is either on or off the table.

• Dear Lou Dobbs, The middle class became the rich. Don Surber riffs on the relative luxury in which today's middle class lives, albeit with plenty of whining and envy.
...I won't go into how little we spend on food and utilities, or how computer and other gadgetry have improved as the prices dropped to the point that every teenager now seems to come with an iPod and a cell phone. Americans have never had it so good... The middle class has become the rich.
And the poor? In 2003, one-eighth of Americans - 12.5 percent - lived below the federal line of poverty... But the Census Bureau reported that 46 percent of households listed as officially living in poverty actually lived in homes they owned.
And, the Census Bureau reported, 76 percent had air-conditioning.
And, the Census Bureau reported, 75 percent had a car.
And, the Census Bureau reported, 30 percent had two cars...
Dammit, Don, there you go again. So what if the poor own cars? They're probably 2003 models!

'No matter who wins the voting, Hillary will be the nominee'
The headline at You Decide '08 reads "Top Clinton Adviser Says Superdelegates Will Decide Election, Obama’s Victories ‘Irrelevant’."
A top Hillary Clinton adviser on Saturday boldly predicted his candidate would lock down the nomination before the August convention by definitively winning over party insiders and officials known as superdelegates, claiming the number of state elections won by rival Barack Obama would be “irrelevant” to their decision.
The claims no doubt will escalate the war of words between the campaigns, as Obama continues to argue superdelegates should vote the way of their districts. But the special class of delegates, which make up about 20 percent of the total delegate haul, are not bound to vote the way of their states and districts, as pledged delegates are.
...Harold Ickes, a 40-year party operative charged with winning over superdelegates for the Clinton campaign, made no apologies on Saturday for the campaign’s convention strategy... ...he said superdelegates — who “have a sense of what it takes to get elected” — would determine the outcome and side in larger numbers for Clinton.
Likewise, a headline over at EIB reads "No Matter Who Wins the Voting, Mrs. Clinton Will Be the Nominee".
You're going to think I'm being sarcastic or cynical here. I'm not. Regardless who wins [Pennsylvania and Texas], Hillary is going to be the nominee... ...Obama could win it, but the Clintons are going to find a way to get this... They want this. They need this more than anything in their lives! They have been planning on it, getting back to the White House. This is the Baby Boomers' last chance; the left-wing, anti-war Baby Boomers' last chance to get their arms around this country and bend it, shape it, as they want it. This is what she has lived for! This is what she put up with all those shenanigans from Bill all those years for. This is why she did it, and she's not going to sit there and let some upstart take it away from her. So if she has to do something about the Michigan delegates and the Florida delegates, she will.
...If she has to cause a civil riot, a civil war at the Democrat convention to get the nomination, she will do it...
They're going to make a play for Florida and Michigan delegates to be seated based on outcomes of the election even though they were not sanctioned and the delegates were not going to be seated as by DNC rules. But who controls the DNC? The Clinton machine runs that party. She's the machine candidate... You know damn well that they're going to do whatever it takes. If there are riots at the Democrat convention, so be it. If that's what it takes for these two to get this nomination and get back in the Oval Office, then they'll do it. I mean, scorched earth? It doesn't matter what it takes; they will destroy anybody and any institution to get this. It's how badly they want it. Try to imagine yourself [in Hillary's position]... You've had a situation in your life that's embarrassing and humiliating. It could be a husband. It could be a job, whatever, but you've sat there from when you left Yale and you went to Arkansas way back in the early eighties -- almost 30 years ago, 35 years ago -- and you have been eating it. You have been swallowing it. You have been looking the other way. You have been humiliated in public, I don't know how many times. This is the payoff for it...
Well, it certainly looks like this will be an entertaining Democrat National Convention.
Speaking of which, if you haven't seen the movie 796 (the number of super-delegates), it's based on the movie 300.
