QOTD: "By Obama’s own standards, Obamanomics has failed. After wasting four years of precious time implementing policies that have never worked in the past, the American economy remains broken. I know it, you know it, Ben Bernanke knows it. Maybe, deep down, even President Obama knows it.

My fellow Americans, trillion dollars deficits and Fed money printing is no way to rebuild the American economy. After all, too much debt and too much cheap money is how we got into this mess in the first place." --James Pethokoukis

Ruh Roh: Producer of Anti-Islam Film Was a Fed Informer

Hillary Clinton's shrill disclaimers notwithstanding ("The United States government had absolutely nothing to do with this video"), it would appear that federal law enforcement officials were employers of the film's producer:

...Clinton’s attempt to distance the U.S. from “Innocence of Muslims”--and, by extension, its felonious producer--may be complicated by the revelation that Nakoula Basseley Nakoula became a government informant after his 2009 arrest for bank fraud, The Smoking Gun has learned.

Though many key documents from the U.S. District Court case remain sealed, a June 2010 sentencing transcript provides an account of Nakoula’s cooperation with federal investigators in Los Angeles (and how his prison sentence was reduced as a result).

Nakoula, 55, was arrested in June 2009 for his role in a check-kiting ring that stole nearly $800,000 from six financial institutions by using stolen Social Security numbers and identities. Nakoula was named in a six-count felony indictment accusing him and unnamed “co-schemers” of perpetrating the bank fraud.

Denied bail, Nakoula, a married father of three, was locked up at the Metropolitan Detention Center in L.A. when he began cooperating with Justice Department lawyers and federal agents. During a series of debriefing sessions, Nakoula provided investigators with a detailed account of the fraud operation and fingered the man who allegedly headed the operation, according to comments made by his lawyer at sentencing...

Shhh. No one tell Jay-Z, Beyonce, or the roughly 56 million Islamists currently protesting the U.S. Government.

A Map of Muslim Protests Throughout the Middle East

It's only chaos throughout the Middle East:

I'm wondering how Ari Shapiro and Jan Crawford can blame Mitt Romney for these attacks.

Idea for President Obama: perhaps Jay-Z and Beyonce can rap the daily intelligence brief

Since the president appears so enamored with fundraisers, especially those featuring entertainers @JayZ and @Beyonce, my idea is obvious: let Jay-Z and Beyonce do a little rap each day to keep the president's attention focused on, uhm, national security issues.

As the Mideast Goes Up in Flames, Obama Tweets About Beyoncé and Jay-Z

It really doesn’t get any more pathetic than this...

...Always the stickler for detail, he even makes sure to get that little accent thingy over the second ‘e’.

If only we happened to have a president more interested in American interests than partying and fundraisers.

If you're sick of this s***, please consider donating a few bucks to Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. These Jimmy Carter-Barack Obama Democrats need to be flushed from office, the sooner the better.

Crazy Obama-Middle East conspiracy theory? Or is it so sane that you just blew your mind?

Mark Langfan's detective work leads to some fascinating -- if not outright terrifying -- conclusions.

...in January 2011, before even a dozen demonstrators were killed, a small herd of camel-riding Mubarakists rode into Tahrir Square trampling some protesters underfoot, and Obama immediately flew into an apoplectic rage, gliding close to personally claiming that Mubarak was a war criminal for attacking peaceful "democratic" demonstrators...

...But in February 2012, after Assad has murdered over 10,000 Sunni mostly totally unarmed civilians by lobbing barrages of multiple rounds of artillery into Homs, why is Obama all but numbingly silent in-between his own barrages of multiple rounds of 18-hole golf?

The reason: the US President Obama has artfully and silently pivoted US Middle East Policy from a Pro-Saudi, Anti-Iran paradigm to a Pro-Iran, Anti-Saudi imperative.

Crazy you say? The Dubai Police Chief Dahi Khalfan Tamim, attending at a recent Gulf security conference with US diplomats, “undiplomatically” for over 18 minutes calmly stated...:

1) “US Policy is the Number One threat” to the Gulf States;
2) America “has realized the dreams of Iran in Iraq;”
3) the US has “adopted the path and ideology of Khomeini;” and
4) the US “is no longer an ally” of the Gulf States.

To frame the instant question with a sharper point: Why did President Obama, in his 2009 Cairo Speech, pro-actively incite and reflexively, over Saudi Arabia’s infinite anger, support the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak, who was the US’ stalwart Sunni American ally for over 30 years and who acted as the sole-substantial Sunni Arab counterweight to Iran?

...How come the Nobel Prize-winning Obama unflinchingly allows Assad, a Shiite/Alawite, confirmed state-sponsor of terror, funneler of IEDs in Iraq which murdered thousands of US soldiers, and a stalwart ally of Shiite Iran, to cold-bloodedly massacre what is now over ten thousand unarmed Sunni Muslims?

...And why did President Obama anoint the Shiite Al Maliki, a known-Iranian stooge, as the omnipotent new-Shiite Saddam of Iraq, sideline the Iraqi Sunnis, and compound the decidedly pro-Shiite tilt by tacitly handing the keys of Iraq over to Iran...?

Why does Obama constantly refer to the ragtag, disjointed, barely-existing Sunni al Qaeda as the "greatest threat to the US" when the Shiite Iran and its Hizbullah and Iraqi based proxies have killed many times more US soldiers and US civilians in the past 20 years than al Qaeda has, - and Iran is nearing the acquisition of nuclear bomb and constantly claiming Israel is a "cancerous tumor" that needs to be "cut out" of the Middle East?

...The answer can be found in Obama’ first documented foreign "policy" speech in 2002 dubbed the "Iraq War Speech" where Obama unambiguously declared:

“You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to make sure our so-called allies in the Middle East, the Saudis and the Egyptians, stop oppressing their own people, and suppressing dissent, and tolerating corruption and inequality. . . .” - Barack Obama, Oct. 2, 2002

From Obama’s very first recorded words on US foreign policy, Saudi Arabia, and not Iran, was to Obama, America’s Number one enemy.

President Obama’s inimical abhorrence of the House of Saud was further codified in US President Obama’s May 19, 2011 major Foreign Policy speech where he repeatedly explicitly attacked Bahrain, Saudi’s key ally, as well as again clearly targeting the “elite” Saud Family when he stated:

Prosperity also requires tearing down walls that stand in the way of progress -– the corruption of elites who steal from their people; the red tape that stops an idea from becoming a business; the patronage that distributes wealth based on tribe or sect. –- New York Times, 5/19/11 “Obama’s Mideast Speech”

Obama, from his 2002 speech on a Chicago street to his 2011 speech at the State Department, sees the House of Saud as the very personification of Obama’s “elites who steal from their people,” and of “the patronage that distributes wealth based on tribe or sect.”

But Obama’s one act which symbolically crystallizes the essence of what has been, is, and will be the Obama Doctrine is Obama’s very first act as US President. ...he formally and publically returned the bust of Winston Churchill to Great Britain that had long adorned the Bush Oval Office.

Obama viscerally rejected Churchill’s White House presence because it was Winston Churchill and his “Lawrence of Arabia” generation of British foreign establishment that, in effect, had “divided and conquered” the Muslim Ummah, and empowered the balkanized Sunni “elite” kingdoms at the expense of the Shi’ites and the Ottoman Empire. While empowering the local Sunni Kingdoms, Churchill disempowered a possible unified Muslim Caliphate, and the Shi’ites.

...With the Obama Doctrine, Obama’s entire foreign policy makes sense: It explains why Obama toppled Egypt, Saudi Arabia’s key Sunni ally. In a heartbeat, Obama rendered Egypt permanently paralyzed to assist the Saudis against Iran...

...In accordance with this doctrine, Obama obliterated the Sunni Qaddafi with hundreds of million dollar Tomahawk missiles, deleting the precious cache of Tomahawks (for possible use against Iran) where there was a truly heavily armed Libyan opposition who could fight for themselves and instead left an absolute Islamist maelstrom wrapped in chaos enveloped in bedlam and mayhem. As a result, Obama has mutely watched well over ten thousand Syrian Sunnis be massacred by Iran’s Shi’ite handmaiden, Assad, and hasn’t even shipped in one 5 kilometer range anti-tank weapon that would easily spay Assad’s rampaging tanks and artillery.

...And as a final policy puzzle piece, Obama’s noisy objection to an Israeli attack on Iran is, in reality, a deafeningly silent total rejection of Saudi Arabia’s push for America to militarily attack Iran. The Saudis know Iran is infinitely more of a threat to Saudi Arabia than to Israel.

Obama has publically amped up the five-alarm fire-fight with Israel to make the Iran issue appear to be an “Israel only” issue, thereby preemptively embarrassing the Saudis out of even asking for the US to strike... So for Obama it’s a win-win-win, actively attack Israel, blame Israel for destabilizing the Middle East, attack Israel’s American supporters as dual loyalists, and passively pre-reject the Saudis request for an attack on Iran’s facilities before the Saudis even ask for one.

What all this means is Obama has quietly turned 50 years of US Foreign policy on its head without even a single congressional hearing... Obama’s true foreign policy objective seems to be nothing less than the full nuclear weaponization of Iran. Anything else is a smoke-screen for Obama to look like he’s doing something, but in reality he is doing nothing to stop Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons.

In conclusion, Obama is actively "democratically" toppling all U.S. Middle East allies, and soon a nuclear-armed Iran will control 70% of the World's Oil Reserves, charging $500 a barrel for oil.

...And in the short-term, Obama and the world will watch Assad commit a holocaust against the unarmed Syrian Sunnis, and, of course, Obama’s golf game will see some improvement.

Just after Obama was elected in 2008, Time Magazine published an article entitled "Baghdad Scuttlebutt: Pssst! Obama's a Shi'ite".

For what it's worth.

QOTD: "The idea that Romney is a cut-government-to-the-bone minarchist is based on a mix of unsubstantiated assertion, wild fantasy and guilt by association; you see, even if there’s no evidence that Romney’s a libertarian, he’s been captured by the heartless Tea Party types. Why, just look: He picked Paul Ryan, patron saint of the barbarian hordes, as his running mate.

It is a sign of what an unmitigated mess we are in as a country when Ryan is considered a heartless right-winger who wants to set old people adrift.

The famously heartless Ryan plan (moot now that he’s hitched his wagon to Romney’s) that supposedly slashes the budget doesn’t reach a projected balance until the year 2040 and increases spending over the next decade." --Jonah Goldberg

Vexing problem for laughingstock media: how to blame Mitt Romney for Barack Obama's "Egypt no longer an ally" gaffe

Just moments after accusing Mitt Romney of "shooting first and aiming later", President Obama accidentally blurted out a slight modification to U.S. foreign policy: Egypt is no longer an ally of the United States.

NBC's chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel ripped the president for his outrageous and unexpected remarks.

Barack Obama’s assertion that he doesn’t consider Egypt an ally stunned NBC’s chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel. Engel, reporting from Cairo, tells Chuck Todd that he needed to “sit down” after hearing that statement. Engel reminds Todd that the US had two major Arab allies in the region when Obama took office, on which it spent a significant amount of foreign aid to keep it that way — Egypt and Saudi Arabia. If we’ve lost Egypt as an ally, Engel asks, wasn’t supporting the effort to overthrow Hosni Mubarak a huge mistake?

After accusing Mitt Romney of "shooting first, aiming later" -- in the very same interview -- the White House immediately attempted to walk back the president's diplomatic gaffe.

President Barack Obama didn't intend to signal any change in the U.S.-Egypt relationship last night when he said Egypt is not an "ally," the White House told The Cable today.

In an interview with Telemundo Wednesday night, Obama said that the U.S. relationship with the new Egyptian government was a "work in progress," and emphasized that the United States is counting on the government of Egypt to better protect the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, which was attacked by protesters on Sept. 11.

"I don't think that we would consider them an ally, but we don't consider them an enemy," Obama said. "They're a new government that is trying to find its way. They were democratically elected. I think that we are going to have to see how they respond to this incident."

That comment had Egypt watchers scratching their heads, especially since technically, Egypt was designated as a Major Non-NATO Ally in 1989 when Congress first passed the law creating that status, which gives them special privileges in cooperating with the United States, especially in the security and technology arenas.

White House spokesman Tommy Vietor told The Cable Thursday that the administration is not signaling a change in that status.

Talking about shooting first and acting later: remember "The Cambridge Police acted stupidly" statement?

Talk amongst yourself.

President Obama does Vegas

Patricia writes:

While the country mourns and the Middle East devolves into chaos, the media conspires to attack Mitt Romney for defending America.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama does Vegas.

Great Moments in American Foreign Policy [Dan from NY]

Dan from NY:

Ta da! The President of the USA admits he can’t make heads or tails of those pesky Egyptians:

Egypt not an ally, but also not an enemy, Obama says in wake of protests

President says Egyptian government trying to ‘find its way,’ warns of ‘real big problem’ if Cairo engages in irresponsible behavior

###

Meanwhile, Hillary is starting a new career as a film critic. Pauline Kael, where are you when we need you?

Clinton calls anti-Islam video 'disgusting'

###

It’s the movie, stupid. After less than four years in office the Obama regime has already accomplished so much. Now imagine what they’ll achieve if we give them four more.

Actually, as John Nolte tweeted earlier, the most stunning statement in this whole foreign policy debacle is Obama's admission that his policies have lost an ally in Egypt. They are no longer an ally.

I shudder to think what four more years of this fecklass madness will bring us.

More story ideas for NPR's Ari Shapiro and CBS News' Jan Crawford

If they can spare a few minutes between attacks on Mitt Romney, perhaps NPR's Ari Shapiro and CBS News' Jan Crawford can take time to examine some of the bigger issues. Namely, the utter failure of "The Obama Doctrine" -- whatever it may be -- as the Middle East erupts in Islamist-fueled chaos and Iran's nuclear-tipped missiles near readiness.

There were plenty of warnings: Days before 9/11, Jihadi groups in Egypt threatened to burn down the U.S. Embassy in Cairo.

Missing a week of PDB meetings: Despite these warnings and the run-up to the 9/11 anniversary, President Obama skipped a week of President Daily Brief (PDB) meetings

Sleeping through the 3am phone call: Notified that Ambassador Stevens was missing from the Bengazi compound, President Obama went to sleep.

Jay-Z and Beyonce take priority: In the midsdt of the conflagration, including pictures circulating worldwide of Ambassador Stevens being dragged through the streets of Bengazi, President Obama headed to... Las Vegas for a $40,000-a-head celebrity fundraiser.

Who approved the State Department's apology?: While the president claimed yesterday that the Embassy issued its apology without his approval, Senator James Inhofe stated on Fox News this morning that the president absolutely approved the statement prior to its release on the web and on Twitter.

President Obama condemned Mitt Romney's criticisms of the State Department apology before he criticized the attacks themselves.

No Live Ammo: U.S. Marines were not permitted by the Obama administration to have live ammo at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo.

Even after Benghazi Consulate attacked in June, no additional security was added: despite an IED detonating at the Benghazi facility, the administration failed to tighten security, leaving it instead up to their Libyan hosts. Reports indicate that these same Libyan security personnel were involved with the attack that left the Ambassador and other U.S. personnel dead.

The President has refused a meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister, but will find time to appear on the David Letterman Show. In addition, Obama invited the President of Egypt (leader of the Muslim Brotherhood) to meet next week at the U.N. while repudiating Israel's leader's request to meet that same week.

Just a little career advice for Ms. Crawford and Mr. Shapiro: if you want to resurrect your careers (which now, officially, languish in laughingstock territory), perhaps a little focus on America's national security interests -- which is what this story is really about -- rather than Mitt Romney's political persuasion might help.

Update: The People's Cube has another excellent gallery.

Update II: I realized that Milton Wolf's Wolf Files is the original source of the contest.

The 10 Most Important Stories of the Embassy Attacks...

1. Barack Obama skipped the Presidential Daily Brief (PDB) the entire week leading up to 9/11:

Sure, why would anyone think there might be some violence on 9/11?" ...Additionally, the US was warned that extremists might attempt to burn down the embassy. On Monday.

2. Obama skipped the PDBs even though intelligence sources report that the attacks were planned and coordinated.

Sources are telling CNN that the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya which killed Ambassador Chris Stevens was planned by attackers who used the protest outside the consulate as a diversion.

3. The first response to the coordinated attacks in Libya and Egypt by the Obama administration was... to apologize to the Islamists:

The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims — as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions...

Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.

4. . Shocked by the administration's statement, the Romney campaign blasted the apology.

The GOP nominee offered no regret for criticizing the president in the midst of an unfolding international crisis. "It's never too early to condemn attacks on Americans and to defend our values," Romney said... Romney condemned the violent protests and expressed condolences to the families of those slain in Libya, including the U.S. ambassador there. He said that instead of speaking out forcefully against the initial Egyptian breach, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo had seemed to sympathize with the attacks by issuing a statement that he called "akin to an apology."

5 . Liberal blogs -- and their primary consumers in vintage media -- needed a way to deflect criticism from President O'Carter. Their meme: Mitt Romney shouldn't criticize an apology... that the Obama administration itself later disavowed.

At 11:53pm last night Talking Points Memo released a statement from the Obama campaign condemning Mitt Romney for criticizing something the White House itself disavowed -- an appalling apology issued by the State Department.

Eight hours later, President Obama finally got around to condemning the monsters who attacked us on our own soil and killed our fellow citizens.

Yesterday, on the 11th anniversary of September 11, the Obama White House snubbed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accepted an invitation from David Letterman, and apologized to Islamists upset over a film that mocks Islam and Mohammed -- something "artists" in America do to Christianity with my tax dollars on a fairly regular basis.

6. An open microphone, in fact, revealed that vintage media coordinating a gang attack on Mitt Romney:

Before Romney issued his statement today, an open mic capture the press coordinating questions to ask Romney, with one saying “no matter who he calls on we’re covered on the one question”.

7. In fact, the Obama administration condemned Mitt Romney's criticism before it bothered to condemn the Islamist attackers.

8. Why in hell wasn't the Libyan Embassy protected by U.S. Marines?

A Marine Corps official who would not speak for the record told Danger Room that the Corps did not and currently does not have assets in Benghazi.

9. As the U.S. embassy burns and our ambassador's body is dragged through streets, we discover that -- just as Obama skipped a week of daily intel briefings leading up to 9/11 -- he is now heading to Vegas for a fundraiser with Jay-Z and Beyonce:

10. And the President found time to do the Letterman show and celebrity fundraisers, but could find no time to meet with the Israeli Prime Minister as the Middle East burns and Iran readies its nuclear-tipped missiles.

This president needs to be pink-slipped. He's Jimmy Carter squared.

QOTD: "A focus on openness and honesty is likely to hurt Mr. Obama far more than Mr. Romney. Mr. Obama remains the mystery candidate with an autobiography full of gaps and even fabrications. For example, to sell his autobiography in 1991, Mr. Obama claimed that he “was born in Kenya.” He lied about never having been a member and candidate of the 1990s Chicago socialist New Party. When Stanley Kurtz produced evidence to establish that he was a member, Mr. Obama’s flacks smeared and dismissed Mr. Kurtz.

Mr. Obama’s 1995 autobiography, “Dreams from My Father,” contains a torrent of inaccuracies and falsehoods about his maternal grandfather, his father, his mother, his parents’ wedding, his stepfather’s father, his high school friend, his girlfriend, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. As Victor Davis Hanson put it, “If a writer will fabricate the details about his own mother’s terminal illness and quest for insurance, then he will probably fudge on anything.”" --Daniel Pipes

Drudge-a-topia

I just created a mobile version of the current Drudge Report front-page. Put simply, the S has HTF.

Dead serious: can you imagine what 2013 will bring under a President Obama?

2014?

2015?

2016?

Vote accordingly in November.

The Obama plan: deficits "never seen before in U.S. history"

World War II was a minor perturbation in the history of deficit spending, if Barack Obama has anything to say about it. For the fourth straight year -- coincident with the Obama presidency -- the U.S. will ring up more than $1,000,000,000,000 (one trillion dollars) in annual budget deficits.

The CBO’s report follows Treasury’s grim confirmation last week that the national debt reached the $16 trillion mark, engulfing the size of the entire U.S. economy. That translates into $51,000 in debt per U.S. citizen, about what the average American will earn this year. Because of Washington’s overspending, the debt continues to climb upward toward the $16.394 trillion statutory limit...

Washington lacks the resolve to rein in federal spending, despite such negative report cards. Congress’ latest proposed spending bill, the FY2013 continuing resolution (CR) that will fund the government, doesn’t even freeze spending at current levels, as a typical CR would. The CBO estimates that level to be $1.039 trillion. Instead, lawmakers plan to increase discretionary spending by $8 billion, in order to reach the annual rate of $1.047 trillion provided under the BCA.

If the current state of the budget appears gloomy, the future could prove to be downright awful. Absent reforms to entitlement programs—especially Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security—federal spending will skyrocket...

...Moody’s Investor Service today joined Standard & Poor’s in issuing a stern warning that it would likely lower the United States’ credit rating... if Congress does not stabilize the debt-to-GDP ratio and address the coming fiscal cliff.

We are approaching Greece-level debt-to-GDP ratios, even discounting our numerous failed entitlement programs.

I can't state this clearly enough: a few more years like these and collapse is certain.

November looks to be the last chance we have to rescue this society.

Instantly Discredited NYT Hit Piece Claims Bush Was Aware of Impending Bin Laden Attacks, Did Nothing

It would appear that the Times has embraced a borderline form of Truther-ism.

In what must be Chapter 48,204 of The New York Times' unceasing war on George W. Bush, a propagandist named "Kurt Eichenwald" -- if that is his real name -- recycles the ludicrous claim that the 43rd President ignored plain warnings about the 9/11 attacks.

...11 years later, new details of the attack on the World Trade Center continue to emerge from the government's vault of classified documents and the journalists who've gained access. This year, the reporter with the jaw-dropping scoop is Kurt Eichenwald, a former Timesman and present contributing editor at Vanity Fair.

After reading more than one tweet with the simple instructions "Read this," we clicked on the link to Eichenwald's powerful op-ed, due to be published in The New York Times on September 11. In it, Eichenwald goes into teeth-grinding detail about how the Bush administration had even more advance notice about Osama Bin Laden's attack than we previously realized. You should read it, too.

With the infamous August 6 White House briefing as a focal point, Eichenwald walks through the months and years [Ed: Remember, Bush has been President for all of half a year when these events occurred] of warnings leading up to the September 11 attacks. Some of these are events and reports that remain classified, but Eichenwald says he's "read excerpts from many of them, along with other recently declassified records, and come to an inescapable conclusion: the administration's reaction to what Mr. Bush was told in the weeks before that infamous briefing reflected significantly more negligence than has been disclosed."

Eichenturd's source for the article: "An intelligence official and a member of the Bush administration."

Which, of course, means a single person who could be an entry-level staffer... or a more senior one holding a grudge. In other words, following the template of prior Times hit pieces, it's one anonymous person. Kind of like the one anonymous person who told me Eichenwald likes to wear women's underwear.

As commenter Hokma reminds us:

Eichenwald was demolished on the Joe Scarborough Show by former New York Governor George Pataki who ripped him to shreds and Eichenwald had no where to go trying to defend his book...

Here are [the] facts. Bin Laden should have been dead or captured before Bush was President.

Indeed. Remember Bill Clinton's National Security Adviser, Sandy Berger?

Yes, that's the same fun-loving Sandy Berger who stole and destroyed classified documents related to the 9/11 investigation.

While the NYT's Truthers are busy investigating how Halliburton imploded WTC 7, Richard Miniter discloses the real reason Berger risked a prison sentence to steal the 9/11 documents.

My informed sources suggest that what Berger destroyed were copies of the Millennium After-Action Review, a binder-sized report prepared by Richard Clarke in 2000—a year and half before the 9-11 attacks. The review made a series of recommendations for a tougher stance against bin Laden and terrorism. There are 13 or more copies of this report. But only one contains hand-written notes by President Bill Clinton. Apparently, in the margin beside the recommendations, Bill Clinton wrote NO, NO, NO next to many of the tougher policy proposals.

You can see why Clinton might be happy to see these records vanish down the memory hole... So Berger was stuffing in pants and socks and later shredding the evidence that President Clinton did not want to take a tougher line on bin Laden, following the 1998 attack on two U.S. embassies that killed 224 people (including 12 American diplomats).

[Now Hillary] makes Berger one of her top three foreign policy advisers... and I have a few questions:

Did she bring him aboard to reward him for his criminal destruction of classified material? Or did she sign him up because of his stellar record in fighting bin Laden in the late 1990s?

If Miniter's sources are correct -- and, from the looks of things, they are -- it's easy to determine why Berger took the risks he did.

Bill Clinton's legacy and Hillary Clinton's 2008 hopes for the presidency rested on Berger's ability to purge the National Archives of the incriminating material.

And the Times wouldn't lift a finger investigating any of these outrages.

They were too busy inventing extramarital affairs for John McCain and weapons-grade-stupid hit jobs like the "Al Qaqaa" fable.

"Even from space, this view of 9/11 cries out"

Writing at Investors Business Daily, Andrew Malcolm commemorates the catastrophic terror attack on America 11 years ago today.

On that awful morning of Sept. 11, 2001, only the third crew of the new International Space Station soared around the world at 17,000 miles an hour.

What he saw as a high-tech witness touched the heart of Station Commander Frank Culbertson, who wrote in his diary:

"The world changed today. What I say or do is very minor compared to the significance of what happened to our country today when it was attacked...

...It's horrible to see smoke pouring from wounds in your own country from such a fantastic vantage point. The dichotomy of being on a spacecraft dedicated to improving life on the earth and watching life being destroyed by such willful, terrible acts is jolting to the psyche, no matter who you are."

I'm with John Hawkins, whose primary emotion remains one of anger: "To hell with your day of service. This is a day of vengeance."

Arab Spring: Government-Approved Muslim Brotherhood Mob Assaults U.S. Embassy in Egypt, Rips Down Flag on 9/11

Another completely predictable result of The Obama Doctrine: ever-increasing chaos in the Middle East.

Egyptian Protesters Breach U.S. Embassy

In response to ‘insulting’ film, Egyptians tear down American flag

A frustrating and infuriating situation is unfolding in Egypt today where protestors have scaled the walls of the United States embassy, torn down the American flag, ripped it apart when they couldn’t burn it, and replaced with a black flag with an inscription of the Shahada on it.

According to reports, the mob is venting its frustration about the Koran-burning pastor Terry Jones, who has made a film (along with some Egyptian Copts) that reportedly vilifies Muslims and their prophet Muhammed...

The timing is also worth pointing out, not only for its obvious and insulting resonance today, but because as Eric Trager mentions, the attack comes as Egypt is seeking aid–which the United States has provided a billion dollars of annually since 1979.

Yes, by all means, let's ensure that the Muslim Brotherhood gets $1.2 billion of our money. I'm sure very little could go wrong.

QOTD: "Reid began to lay out the two-step $2.7 -trillion debt limit extension, then stopped. He was not a details guy. "Well, let David just tell you what it is," he said.

It was highly unusual for someone to pass the ball so completely to a staffer. The 44-year-old Krone outlined the plan, including a secret Republican pledge to count $1 trillion in savings from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan toward deficit reduction. That was surprising. Earlier, Boehner had not been willing to accept this accounting gimmick.

"I don't trust these guys," the president said dismissively.

Krone either would not or could not conceal his anger.

"Wait a second," Obama said, interrupting someone else who was about to speak. "I can tell David has something else to say."

"Mr. President, I am sorry -- with all due respect -- that we are in this situation that we're in, but we got handed this football on Friday night. And I didn't create this situation. The first thing that baffles me is, from my private-sector experience, the first rule that I've always been taught is to have a Plan B. And it is really disheartening that you, that this White House did not have a Plan B." --Bob Woodward
