FASCINATING: How presidential elections are impacted by a 100 million year old coastline
Deep Sea News has some fascinating observations about the ancient Floridian coastline:
None of this explains why Blacks vote Democrat in great numbers. The Republican Party was created to combat slavery. Great men from Lincoln, to Booker T. Washington, to Martin Luther King, Jr. were all Republicans.
And the Ku Klux Klan was well-known throughout the 20th century as "the terrorist wing of the Democrat Party."
In more modern times, Democrats William Fulbright (Bill Clinton's mentor), Robert Byrd and Al Gore, Sr. were well-known racists and segregationists.
And, as we speak, conservative hero Allen West is fighting widespread vote fraud by would-be segregationists in the Democrat Party who have attempted to derail his reelection.
You see, drones, the freedom tent is the biggest tent of all. It embraces all races, religions, creeds and colors. It is the antithesis of the Democrat-Progressive tent that divides Americans by gender, age, income, race, religion and ethnicity for purposes of pandering and demonization.
We conservatives are on the side of liberty -- for all Americans. And that, my friends, is something you'll never hear a Democrat say.
Hale County in west central Alabama and Bamberg County in southern South Carolina are 450 miles apart. Both counties have a population of 16,000 of which around 60% are African American... These two counties share another unique feature. Amidst a blanket of Republican red both Hale and Bamberg voted primarily Democratic in the 2000, 2004, and again in the 2008 presidential elections. Indeed, Hale and Bamberg belong to a belt of counties cutting through the deep south–Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina–that have voted over 50% Democratic in recent presidential elections. Why? A 100 million year old coastline.
During the Cretaceous, 139-65 million years ago, shallow seas covered much of the southern United States. These tropical waters were productive–giving rise to tiny marine plankton with carbonate skeletons which overtime accumulated into massive chalk formations. The chalk, both alkaline and porous, lead to fertile and well-drained soils in a band, mirroring that ancient coastline and stretching across the now much drier South. This arc of rich and dark soils in Alabama has long been known as the Black Belt. But many, including Booker T. Washington, coopted the term to refer to the entire Southern band. Washington wrote in his 1901 autobiography, Up from Slavery, “The term was first used to designate a part of the country which was distinguished by the color of the soil. The part of the country possessing this thick, dark, and naturally rich soil...”
...The legacy of ancient coastlines, chalk, soil, cotton, and slavery can still be seen today. African Americans make up over 50%, in some cases over 85%, of the population in Black Belt counties. As expected this has and continues to deeply influence the culture of the Black Belt. J. Sullivan Gibson writing in 1941 on the geology of the Black Belt noted, “The long-conceded regional identity of the Black Belts roots no more deeply its physical fundament of rolling prairie soil than in its cultural, social, and economic individuality.” And so this plays out in politics...

A MILLION ISRAELIS HAVE 15 SECONDS TO FIND SHELTER: Any other country would have turned Gaza into the Bonneville Salt Flats
If Hillary Clinton weren't ducking the growing Benghazi scandal enjoying "wine-tastings" in Australia, I'd ask her, Hey, Hill, how's that Arab Spring thingamabob workin' out?"
Watch the videos. It's like the Battle of Britain being reenacted in Israel.
If I were commanding the IDF, my calculus would be very simple: we will level block by block, town by town, city by city, until the attacks stop.
No other country on Earth would tolerate a million citizens fleeing for bomb shelters dozens of times per day.
It's time to draw a line in the sand. And if that line happens to be as wide as Gaza, so be it.
"If an alarm is sounded, people in southern Israel—1 million people—have 15 seconds to find shelter. I don’t know if any of your governments will accept this reality. I cannot accept this." -- PM Netanyahu
Some simple facts about the ongoing Blitzkrieg from Gaza:
- +120 rockets have been fired at Israel this week.
- +760 rockets have been fired at Israel in 2012.
- +2500 rockets have been fired at Israel since 2009.
- Terrorists hold more than 10,000 rockets in Gaza.
- One million Israelis, 14% of the population, are under the threat of rocket fire.
- That is equivalent to 44 million U.S. citizens under the threat of rocket fire.
- Gaza terrorists targeted an IDF jeep this week, injuring four soldiers. (Video)
- Hamas rules the Gaza strip and is responsible for all that occurs in Gaza and all that is launched form there.
- Hamas, supported by Iran, has wielded authority over the Gaza Strip since 2007.
- No other state would accept a similar reality.
- The targets of the Israeli operation are all military.
- Hamas and the other terrorist organizations hide among the civilian population of Gaza. They also deliberately direct their fire at the civilian population of Israel. These acts constitute a double war crime.
- Israel will make every effort to prevent harm to the civilian population of Gaza, and regrets any injury to civilians.
- The border crossings from Israel to the Gaza Strip remain open, allowing for the routine passage of goods and humanitarian aid.
- The international community must act to stop the attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip. The message to Hamas should be clear: stop the attacks on Israel.
- Time and again, Israel has warned that it would not tolerate these attacks.
Watch the videos. It's like the Battle of Britain being reenacted in Israel.

WHY TRY TO TEACH LIBS CONCEPTS THEY'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND? Instead, stop working, relax, and play "Stash-o-Cash", the Obama Slot Machine!
Class warfare. The progressive income tax. Single-payer health care. All of these progressive policies come straight out of the Communist Manifesto and each is destined to end up just as successfully as their predecessors in the Soviet Union, Cuba and North Korea.
But, hey: why try to teach a progressive something he, she or it will never comprehend? Instead, stop working, relax, and play "Stash-o-Cash" - the Obama slot machine!
Hey, since we're headed for fiscal collapse anyhow, why not have fun along the way?
But, hey: why try to teach a progressive something he, she or it will never comprehend? Instead, stop working, relax, and play "Stash-o-Cash" - the Obama slot machine!
...in celebration of Barack Hussein Obama's re-selection as President of the United States, I present "Stash-"O"-Cash", an entertaining 3-reel slot machine. If you've had your work hours cut, lost your job, been forced into early retirement, or become house-bound because of rising living expenses, why not take a break and watch some "accomplishments" of Obama's first presidential term fly by as you try to match symbols on the pay line? Play long enough and you may even see the elusive "Stash-O-Cash Jackpot!" or even the equally-elusive "SUPER 'Blame Bush' MEGA-JACKPOT!".
And, don't worry about getting a free payoff or keeping track of your winnings: The Government will take care of that for you!
Hey, since we're headed for fiscal collapse anyhow, why not have fun along the way?

QOTD: "Jill Kelley, 37, is not from Tampa Bay. She grew up in Pennsylvania with her four siblings. She is first generation American. Her parents moved to the U.S. from Lebanon in the 1970s.
She started to volunteer at MacDill after Kelley “organized galas and fashion shows benefiting the American Red Cross and the Tampa Museum of Art,” according to the Tampa paper... The Kelley family soon befriended Petraeus and his wife as well as other leading members of the military brass who frequently visited CentCom headquarters. Those connections combined with her family’s financial problems would have motivated the FBI to look deeper into Kelley’s past.
“I can’t think of a better target for a foreign intelligence source than a woman who is connected to America’s top military leaders and who is also struggling financially,” said a Pentagon security official who asked not to be named." --Mike Hoffman

CHART: The Democrat-Lite Party's Amnesty Delusion
The Democrat-Lite Party is what I call the RINO establishment. With data from Pew Research (hat tip: Free Republic), let's examine the historic trend line of Hispanic support for Democrats and Republicans.
Please note: whether Republicans support amnesty or not, the share of the Latino vote captured by Republican candidates stays in the same narrow band.
Because, as has been explained over and over and over again, Hispanic support for Democrats has nothing to do with "amnesty".
Hey, Boehner: you listening?
Please note: whether Republicans support amnesty or not, the share of the Latino vote captured by Republican candidates stays in the same narrow band.

Hey, Boehner: you listening?
HEY, BOEHNER AND KRISTOL: Yes, by all means, let's go back to the Clinton-era tax rates!
I want to address the rocket scientist RINOs typified by House Speaker John Boehner and commentator William Kristol, both of whom have expressed a willingness to "compromise" with Democrats and raise taxes on "millionaires". And by "millionaires", they of course mean any individual making over $200,000 and any family making over $250,000. And, as everyone knows, a substantial number of these folks are small business owners, who account for roughly half of all the jobs created by small business.
I would like to unleash a rant on these two, but first, please read this item spotted while surfing the web.
What Mr. Kristol and Mr. Boehner don't understand -- aside from basic arithemetic, logic, history and reason -- is that small business doesn't need to tighten its belt. Government does.
But why, asks the President, can't we go back to Clinton-era tax rates? That seems reasonable, right?
Oh, sure. We can go back to Clinton-era tax rates.
Just as soon as we go back to Clinton-era housing prices.
And Clinton-era college tuition prices.
And Clinton-era health insurance premiums.
And Clinton-era state, local and property taxes.
You starting to get the picture, geniuses? Democrats are never satisfied! Never! In good times and bad, government grows like an enormous, metastasizing tumor, eroding our liberty and eating away at our private property rights.
Democrats tamper with housing prices (see: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) and they destroy the housing industry. They back student loans, making it easy for colleges to raise tuition prices far faster than the rate of inflation. They nationalize health care for the elderly, indigent (and now, everyone) and health care prices skyrocket.
Democrats grow the government. That's what they do.
In other words, Democrats constantly try to evade the very Constitution they took an oath to uphold! They incessantly evade the very document that was explicitly designed to check their own corrupting ambitions!
And accomplices like Boehner and Kristol don't have the common sense to even figure out that they are being played. In fact, guys like this aren't real Republicans. They are Democrats Lite. They're a slightly watered down version of the Marxist Left; they are so addicted to the concentration of power in Washington that they can't even see the diminishing circle of liberty -- a veritable noose -- tightening around our collective necks.
Boehner, Kristol, Rove, and the rest of these Democrats Lite must be ridiculed at every turn. They must be mocked. They need to be shunned. And they need to be cast out from the real Republican Party.
They're not statesmen, they're not thoughtful, and -- worst of all -- they're not leaders. They are useless and they need to be ignored.
I would like to unleash a rant on these two, but first, please read this item spotted while surfing the web.
I’m a California Republican (I know, masochistic, right?) and the local talk radio is full of small business owners calling in and discussing their plans.
One man, owner of a trucking firm in Ventura — 75 employees, $6 million payroll — discussed how even as times have been tough over the last few years, he’s made it a point to make his payroll, even dipping into his own savings.
He was walking by the breakroom and heard some of his employees snickering about the election and they had wanted Obama to stay President to make sure the rich pay. He then thought “what am I putting myself at risk?" He then went and canceled his order for six new trucks (approximately $600,000 worth of an order) and is planning to layoff 20 or more people.
What Mr. Kristol and Mr. Boehner don't understand -- aside from basic arithemetic, logic, history and reason -- is that small business doesn't need to tighten its belt. Government does.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The Petraeus-Broadwell-Kelley Timeline
For your consideration, I've assembled an approximate timeline of the various skulduggery involving Petraeus, Broadwell and Kelley.
11/15/11 Affair between Petraeus and Broadwell said to begin
01/24/12 "All In", Broadwell's biography of Petraeus, released
05/15/12 Jill Kelley begins receiving threatening emails from Broadwell
07/04/12 Affair between Petraeus and Broadwell said to end
08/15/12 A.G. Holder notified of affair between Petraeus and Broadwell
09/11/12 Ambassador Stevens, three other Americans killed in Benghazi
09/14/12 Petraeus testifies under oath that killings started as protest over video
10/26/12 Broadwell reveals secret CIA prison in Benghazi during Denver speech
10/27/12 Republicans including Eric Cantor informed of Petraeus affair
11/07/12 White House claims it was first notified of Petraeus affair
11/11/12 Jill Kelley hires law firm
The timeline is intriguing.
Investors Business Daily muses that the administration may have used their discovery of the Petraeus affair as leverage for false testimony before Congress.
What say you, dear reader?

HARD TO KEEP UP WITH THE SCANDALS: EPA said to have broken law by using secret email accounts to hide radical agenda
At the rate this administration is going, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Kim Kardashian is involved in a secret love triangle with Jay Carney and David Axelrod.
I refer, of course, to the daily stream of scandals involving the Obama administration and its many tentacles. The latest shoe to drop, outside of the Benghazi-related sex scandals, is the unsurprising report that the EPA's top dogs have been routinely breaking the law for years.
Jackson, of course, is a hard left "eco-warrior" who has pushed the EPA to enact the most radical, anti-business regulations in American history.
And Horner asserts that other top officials are also using private email accounts to avoid Freedom of Information requests.
That Jackson would illegally hide her agenda from public scrutiny is precisely what we've come to expect from "the most transparent administration ever".

The name Richard Windsor may sound innocuous, but it is allegedly one of the secret “alias” email accounts used by Obama EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson.
...In his book [“The Liberal War on on Transparency", author Chris] Horner revealed the existence of “alias” email accounts used by EPA administrators. The first such transparency dodge, he writes, came from Carol Browner, former director of the Obama White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy and Bill Clinton’s EPA administrator.
“You remember Ms. Browner, the lady who suddenly ordered her computer hard drive reformatted and backup tapes erased, hours after a federal court issued a ‘preserve’ order … that her lawyers at the Clinton Justice Department insisted they hadn’t yet told her about?... The one who said it’s all good because she didn’t use her computer for email anyway? That one.”
Horner said two former “fairly senior” EPA officials contacted him while he was researching his book, and gave him the name of one of the email alias names used by EPA Chief Jackson... “Richard Windsor” was just “[o]ne of the alternate email addresses she used...”
...“These alias accounts, from their origin and use under Browner to their use by Browner’s successor, are now the subject of a lawsuit..." [because] all government employees are required by federal law to use official email accounts to conduct government business...

QOTD: "...let’s hope the Speaker and the rest of the Republican negotiators are smart enough to propose revenue increases that will hurt liberals the most. Start by taxing the ever-loving crap out of Hollywood. I’ve suggested this before, and the esteemed Instapundit, Glenn Reynolds, was on the same wavelength last August when he suggested bringing back the 20 percent excise tax on motion picture gross revenue from the 1950s.
“The movie excise tax was imposed in response to the high deficits after World War Two,” Reynolds recalled. ”Deficits are high again, and there’s already historical precedent. Of course, to keep up with technology, the tax should now apply to DVDs, downloadable movies, pay-per-view and the like. But in these financially perilous times, why should movie stars and studio moguls, with their yachts, swimming pools and private jets, not at least shoulder the burden they carried back in Harry Truman’s day – when, to be honest, movies were better anyway.”
As Reynolds noted, one side effect of such proposals is that it causes far-Left Hollywood types to suddenly begin babbling about the depressing effects of high tax rates upon economic growth, as though they had been suddenly possessed by the ghost of Milton Friedman. That’s fun even if the tax proposals end up getting defeated. Especially now that we have YouTube to disseminate and immortalize their panicked bursts of “trickle-down economic” wisdom." --John Hayward

MUST READ: We Have Lost
Spotted at Denny's Place, a guest post by Casey:

I agree. For starters, anything built by a union here in America should be ignored. If they're at war with us, we need to return the favor.

Dear Friends:
The most productive people, the small business owners, the entrepreneurs and the honest wage earners of America are so demoralized right now I am not sure we will recover as a country. We have lost the most important election of our lifetime and did so after giving our best effort, spent the most money ever and working the hardest we have ever worked. The very people that America needs the most to generate a real recovery now have the least motivation to do so and worse, lack the confidence necessary to even justify the effort.
We opposed a foe who was so obviously incompetent, corrupt and inept in leadership we really expected a landslide victory and a redeeming mandate to return the nation to conservative values. Instead what we got was a harsh slap in the face by an American public telling us it is not like us and it no longer believes in what we believe in.
As a country we are hopelessly divided by a malignant polarization approaching that which divided us prior to the Civil War. Our side will not march in the streets, but the rebellion, protests and resistance will be just as determined -- though more subtle. The American can-do spirit, our optimism, our traditional dependence on our own ingenuity is now mere kindling on the advancing flame of an insidious yet steadily advancing socialism.
Those of us who create real jobs, invest our capital, our fortunes and take the risks to build America, feel betrayed. The fundamentals of honest effort and hard work rendering the rewards associated with capitalism seem now like a cruel joke. We are now a targeted enemy not to be governed but coerced into submission by a lazy, corrupt, vindictive, arrogant government that is out for revenge, redistribution -- and to add a final insult -- one we believe is too morally bankrupt to lead.
The usual safeguards for a democracy found in a vibrant, independent press have lost any semblance of objectivity and instead have joined a side. What used to be principled, independent reporters have morphed into dishonest pundits spewing a disgustingly relentless partisan bile that neither informs nor educates. They are shallowly manipulated by the political marketers to the point that their words lack meaning. The "fourth branch" of government has become nothing more than an empty cathode ray irradiating a mind-numbed audience like a repetitive Beavis and Butthead rerun.
We have elected a President who not only feels we did not work for what we have, but feels we do not deserve it either. Had it gone the other way, Obama supporters would have torched America. Instead they will now legitimately consume it by gnawing at the soft underbelly of what was once her prosperity. Our Judeo-Christian culture -- that those on the left revile and call "extreme" -- now has as much relevance as a three-minute YouTube video.
Fighting for God and Country has now a new meaning, they will fight for Obama-Bucks, work the system, because this President gave them the right to do so.
C.W.
P.S. For starters, my next car(s) will be built, at a non-union plant, located in Lincoln, Alabama.

WE KEEP ALL OF THE SCANDALS STRAIGHT SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO: Today's U.S. Foreign Policy Update
Facts:
• The Ambassador to Libya was assassinated on September 11th, along with three other Americans, during a 7-hour running gun-battle
• Iranian fighter jets attempted to shoot down a U.S. aircraft over international waters
• The President's most trusted adviser was sent to Iran to secretly beg the Iranians to come to some kind of an accommodation regarding their nuclear program
• The CIA director provided false testimony under oath to Congress about the nature of the attacks that killed the U.S. Ambassador
• The CIA director was schtupping his biographer and could have been blackmailed by the White House to lie under oath
• For the first time in decades, a Russian nuclear attack submarine skirted the East Coast of the U.S.
• And the White House appears to have been operating a secret rendition prison in Benghazi, in direct violation of the President's own orders
Oh. And one other facet to consider: the background or existence of each of these incidents was carefully and purposefully hidden from the public until after the election.
If the Watergate break-in and the subsequent cover-up by the Nixon administration merited impeachment, these crimes against the American people deserve something far more draconian.
What else is this administration hiding?

QOTD: "The good news is that reality (to use a quaint expression) doesn’t need to swing a couple of thousand soccer moms in northern Virginia. Reality doesn’t need to crack 270 in the Electoral College. Reality can get 1.3 percent of the popular vote and still trump everything else. In the course of his first term, Obama increased the federal debt by just shy of $6 trillion and in return grew the economy by $905 billion. So, as Lance Roberts at Street Talk Live pointed out, in order to generate every dollar of economic growth the United States had to borrow about five dollars and 60 cents. There’s no one out there on the planet — whether it’s “the rich” or the Chinese — who can afford to carry on bankrolling that rate of return. According to one CBO analysis, U.S.-government spending is sustainable as long as the rest of the world is prepared to sink 19 percent of its GDP into U.S. Treasury debt. We already know the answer to that: In order to avoid the public humiliation of a failed bond auction, the U.S. Treasury sells 70 percent of the debt it issues to the Federal Reserve — which is to say the left hand of the U.S. government is borrowing money from the right hand of the U.S. government. It’s government as a Nigerian e-mail scam, with Ben Bernanke playing the role of the dictator’s widow with $4 trillion under her bed that she’s willing to wire to Timmy Geithner as soon as he sends her his bank-account details.
If that’s all a bit too technical, here’s the gist: There’s nothing holding the joint up." --Mark Steyn

ANOTHER REELECTION CELEBRATION: Hamas Terror Groups Pound Israel With Over 100 Rockets
Given the praise for Obama's reelection by its proxy in the U.S., this may be Hamas's way of celebrating.
And what does the Obama administration have to say about these attacks?
Cue the soundtrack of crickets chirping.
Gaza groups pound Israel with over 100 rockets
Over 100 rockets, mortar shells hit South in past 24 hours, Israeli officials weigh "dramatic response."
Israel will not hesitate to launch a major IDF operation against Gaza-based terrorist factions if necessary, Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned on Sunday – after some 100 rockets hit southern Israel in 24 hours.
Rockets wounded three people in Sderot during a barrage fired to coincide with the morning commute to work. One man was moderately wounded in his car by shrapnel and flying glass.
Something from the heavens told me not to take my son with me to school today,” Moshik Levy, a physical education teacher, told Army Radio on Sunday after he was treated for his injuries.
“Shattered glass from my car windshield exploded into my face,” Levy said. “I started bleeding. I didn’t understand what was happening. Thankfully I was alone.”
A couple heading to work was lightly wounded by shrapnel. A fourth person sustained injuries while racing for cover at a bomb shelter as the rocket warning siren sounded.
Five people required treatment for shock, Magen David Adom paramedics said.
Later in the day, a Palestinian rocket scored a direct hit on a Sderot factory.
Sderot is too close to the Gaza Strip for the Iron Dome anti-rocket shield to work effectively over it.
And what does the Obama administration have to say about these attacks?
Cue the soundtrack of crickets chirping.
PHOTOS: Jill Kelley, woman reportedly harassed by Paula Broadwell in possible Petraeus blackmail scandal
More details regarding the FBI investigation that led to the resignation of David Petraeus have been revealed over the last several hours.
37-year old Jill Kelley, a friend of the Petraeus family, reportedly alerted the FBI about threatening emails that appeared to blackmail the CIA director.
Kelley of Tampa, Florida is married with three children. She and her sister are close friends of the Petraeus family and sometimes vacation together. Sources indicate that she was not involved in an affair with the former CIA chief.
The Telegraph confirms the friendship between the Kelley and Petraeus families.
Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle want to know whether national security was compromised for political reasons.
The critical question: how long did the Justice Department freeze the story, thereby endangering U.S. national security?
37-year old Jill Kelley, a friend of the Petraeus family, reportedly alerted the FBI about threatening emails that appeared to blackmail the CIA director.
Kelley of Tampa, Florida is married with three children. She and her sister are close friends of the Petraeus family and sometimes vacation together. Sources indicate that she was not involved in an affair with the former CIA chief.
The FBI was investigating harassing emails sent by Petraeus biographer and girlfriend Paula Broadwell to a second woman. That probe of Broadwell's emails revealed the affair between Broadwell and Petraeus. The FBI contacted Petraeus and other intelligence officials, and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper asked Petraeus to resign.
A senior U.S. military official identified the second woman as Jill Kelley, 37, who lives in Tampa, Fla., and serves as an unpaid social liaison to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, where the military's Central Command and Special Operations Command are located.
Staffers for Petraeus said Kelley and her husband were regular guests at events he held at Central Command headquarters. A U.S. official said the coalition countries represented at Central Command gave Kelley an appreciation certificate on which she was referred to as an "honorary ambassador" to the coalition, but she has no official status and is not employed by the U.S. government.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to discuss the case publicly, said Kelley is known to drop the "honorary" part and refer to herself as an ambassador.
The military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation, said Kelley had received harassing emails from Broadwell, which led the FBI to examine her email account and eventually discover her relationship with Petraeus.
A former associate of Petraeus confirmed the target of the emails was Kelley, but said there was no affair between the two, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the retired general's private life. The associate, who has been in touch with Petraeus since his resignation, says Kelley and her husband were longtime friends of Petraeus and wife, Holly.
The Telegraph confirms the friendship between the Kelley and Petraeus families.
Paula Broadwell, the former CIA director’s biographer and reported lover, allegedly sent a number of threatening messages to Jill Kelley, a 37-year-old civilian who organised parties for the US military, who became frightened and turned to the FBI for help.
...Although the emails, believed to have been sent anonymously by Mrs Broadwell, 40, were said to have contained hints at classified information, the FBI concluded that there was no security threat and that they were instead looking at a case of lover’s jealousy.
According to The New York Post, Mrs Broadwell, a mother of two, told Mrs Kelley: “I know what you did” and warned her to “back off” from the 60-year-old former general.
"We and our family have been friends with Gen Petraeus and his family for over five years. We respect his and his family's privacy and want the same for us and our three children," Mrs Kelley said in a statement.
Photographs showed the Petraeuses and the Kelleys posing together at a pirate-themed festival in 2010 and ABC News reported that the families had spent Christmases together.
It is not clear why Mrs Broadwell would believe that the mother-of-three, posed a threat to her relationship with the general.
Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle want to know whether national security was compromised for political reasons.
Members of Congress said Sunday they want to know more details about the FBI investigation that revealed an extramarital affair between ex-CIA Director David Petraeus and his biographer, questioning when the retired general popped up in the FBI inquiry, whether national security was compromised and why they weren't told sooner.
"We received no advanced notice. It was like a lightning bolt," said Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, who heads the Senate Intelligence Committee.
The critical question: how long did the Justice Department freeze the story, thereby endangering U.S. national security?
COMPARE AND CONTRAST D VS. R CAMPAIGN ISSUES: Sad.
Radio host Joe Pags compares the messages of the two campaigns and just shakes his head:
Sad, isn't it?
Hat tip: MOTUS.
Let’s face facts. Democrats gained in the House of Representatives, the Senate and the chief Democrat in charge was re-elected after one of the worst four year periods in American history, economically and constitutionally. How does that happen? Republicans/Conservatives (which are not necessarily interchangeable terms — but, we’ll lump them together for the sake of this column) gave voters credit for being smart while Democrats assumed they’re not. Let’s break down what Obama, Pelosi, Reid, the Obama SuperPACs, et all were saying for a year and a half:
• Republicans are prosecuting a war on women
• Romney only cares about his rich friends and Wall Street
• Romney is responsible for the death of a woman by somehow giving her cancer
• Romney specialized in closing down businesses, laying people off and outsourcing jobs — especially to China
• Romney is a liar. All he does is lie. And, after he lies, he lies about the lies he told.
• Republicans are trying to outlaw contraception
• Republicans are trying to close down Planned Parenthood to stop women from getting cancer screenings
• Republicans want to put all Latinos on buses and send them back to Mexico
• Republicans think rape is okay — and women should just stop talking about it
• Republicans all own stock in oil companies and are forcing gas prices up
• Republicans want to give rich people a tax break and make the poor and Middle Class to make up the difference
• Romney hates half the country (47%)
• Romney will end Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid
Only problem with that list is, not one bit of it is true. Republicans/conservatives assumed everyone hearing this list of Democrat/liberal talking points would know it was completely false. They gave the American people credit for being smart enough to know better. Millions are and do — but, unfortunately, more millions aren't and don't. Here’s a list filled with the absolute truth about the last four years:
• Gas prices doubled
• Obama said no to the Keystone XL Pipeline
• Obama sent billions to Brazil to drill there
• Food prices have soared
• Unemployment is higher than the day he took office
• Obama apologized around the world for the United States of America
• His DOJ refused to prosecute voter intimidation by the New Black Panther Party
• Obama promised to cut the debt in half in his first four years — has doubled it
• Obama will now cut military spending
• Obama refuses to answer questions on what happened the night four Americans died in Benghazi
• Obama has used Executive Privilege to continue stonewalling on Fast and Furious
• Obama has bragged about bypassing Congress repeatedly
• Obama has sued states for passing immigration laws
• Obama has sued states for passing Voter ID laws
• Obama and the Dems forced through Obamacare by lying about abortion and raising taxes
• Obama ran on a platform to raise taxes in his second term
• Obama blew billions on failed energy companies
• Obama has grown government to its biggest size in history
• Obama told Russia he can do more after the election
• Obama told NASA to include Muslims more
• Obama flip-flopped on gay marriage
• Obama is forcing religions to offer contraception even if it goes against their beliefs
• Obama is the most vehement supporter of abortion we've ever had in the White House
These are all facts. That's just a short list of what this wannabe dictator has done in four years and Republicans/conservatives know how outrageous this administration has been and made a bad assumption that the American people were smart and would know how horrible these things are and this administration has been. Bad assumptions.
Americans love great actors, entertainers, people who smile and come off as sincere. They also react positively to pandering — as long as it’s well-disguised. Romney should have, at every opportunity, called Obama out on that list. He didn’t. Every time Obama called him a liar, Romney should have hit him back with, "are you out of your mind? You..." and list the failures and dictator-like moves of the last four years.
What Ds/Ls have perfected is the art of the con job. Obama and his minions are confidence men and women. They con the American public with what most want to hear. They win the election, then do the exact opposite in the hopes of expanding the scope, power and dominance of government over all of us. Time for the other side to do the same thing.
Sad, isn't it?
